Excellent food, great prices, beautiful location, and friendly staff that went above and beyond in helping me find my girlfriend’s mom’s lost gold earrings! I love this place and these people. 10/10

I've visited this place multiple times, and I can't recommend it enough for hosting a party! With ample space on the second floor that comfortably accommodates 15 guests, it's perfect for gatherings. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is top-notch. If you’re looking for a fantastic venue for a celebration, this is the spot! Highly recommended for an unforgettable foodie experience!

We ate lunch here with friends that we had not seen in a long time. We ate on the outdoor patio and were seated immediately. The staff was courteous and very attentive. We sat and visited for a long time and were never rushed to leave. The food was fresh and delicious. The inside of the restaurant is huge with multi floors and a lot of seating options. I'm sure that I will be coming back to Lauriol Plaza on my next visit to DC.

The dining space itself is impressive and enjoyable, buzzing with energy. We tried the shrimp special, which was outstanding. The guac and warm salsa with chips was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t have one, but I heard from my guests the margs are outstanding. I’d definitely come back.

A friend I hadn’t spent time with invited me here for dinner because she loves the restaurant. After eating and drinking, I certainly know why now. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and seated by the window. Our waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. My friend chose her favorite, the Seafood Enchiladas, and I chose the Combo Fajitas. When they brought the food out, I was first overwhelmed by the portions’ size. Then, after taking the first bite, my senses went into overdrive with an explosion of different tastes and seasonings. As I dug into the bottom of one area, I saw fried plantains and potatoes in addition to all the vegetables and meats. Who does that? I’m sorry, guys, there was no way I could eat this in one sitting. So, I probably ate at least one-fourth of a portion and had to box the rest up and take it home. In my defense, I didn’t realize how many chips and salsas I ate before the food came out because they were so damn good. Beware of them; in a good way… Before the waiter came with the boxes to inquire (like a great waiter does) whether we wanted to order dessert, we both had to give the side-eye and say, “No, unless they had a wheelbarrel to roll us out of this restaurant.” Please check them out for yourself.

This place still has it!!! Hadn’t been in 20 years and everything was still excellent. Great service, food, and drinks. I met up with friends. We started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. Their chips are very light and good. The salsa was excellent. This was all accompanied by a pitcher of their Cadillac Margarita. It was good!! I had Branzini for dinner. The fish was huge and delicious!! They have parking but the lot fills up quickly so plan ahead in the event you have to park in the neighborhood.

Had a wonderful dinner here with friends on a busy Thursday night. Get here early, or make a reservation. The aesthetic of the building doesn’t scream Spanish Restaurant, but it’s comfortable and dim. The fresh chips and salsa are great. We had many rounds of margaritas, all consistent. The menu is vast and fair for the location and portions. We spent over five hours here and our server was constantly filling drinks and taking good care of us. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

We brought my mother-in-law and her husband here while they were in town & we were impressed! The restaurant is HUGE. Decor is fine. Service was wonderful- we were checked on several times and the food came out at a good pace. The food was YUMMY. We shared the ceviche crudo, gambas al ajillo which were my fave- the crispy garlic on top was unbelievable, the maduros and the fried calamari which was light and crispy. We also got the seafood enchiladas which were PACKED with perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp & the fajitas. And of course a couple rounds of their famous Swirl frozen margaritas. I’d definitely come back! The menu is huge. Like a New Jersey diner huge. So there are soooo many more things to try.

It’s always a treat to dine at their restaurant. The food is mouthwatering, and the service is lightning-fast. They have a wide variety of dishes, and everything is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it for any special occasion.

Parking wasn’t bad, but I might have gotten lucky. Worst case scenario, you park a 4-5 minute walk away. Was sat immediately. The place is HUGE. Don’t think that it’s not worth going if you don’t have a reservation. By huge, I mean 3 expansive floors, an outdoor seating area, and an indoor rooftop deck. I sat with a friend at the table furthest from the rooftop entrance. Cool view of the strip outside, and close to the bar. The food and drinks came out alarmingly fast. I had the crab and shrimp quesadilla, which quite literally came out in 4-5 minutes. The quesadilla had a good meat to cheese ratio (40:60) and was portioned well. It wasn’t soggy, which a lot of quesadillas have problems with, and paired well with the tomatoes, jalapeños and guacamole that came on the side. 10/10 The chips and salsa that came on the house were standard. The chips could use seasoning, and the salsa was the watery type, which isn’t my favorite. 5/10 The strawberry daiquiri was delicious- light, flavorful and fresh. 10/10 The lemonade (with lime added) receives the same regards. Fresh, the right amount of tartness and sweetness. 10/10 My friend’s review stats: Quesadilla- 8/10 Margarita on the rocks- 10/10 Chips and warm salsa- 9/10 Service was efficient.

We really enjoyed this place. The margaritas were good. Chips and salsa were amazing. We tried one of the combos that had a chicken enchilada, chicken tamale, and chicken taco. It was good. Service was great. Decor was nice. I would definitely recommend this place.

Great food, excellent service, and a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy it all. One friend really enjoyed her chicken burrito and my beef chimichanga was delicious, but the beef short rib special, which I got to taste, was absolutely fantastic. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here, starting with the chips and salsa.

One of our favorites for dinner. Check the photos out for atmosphere. The giant mural scene changes with the season. This is my favorite, winter. My favorite is the crab and shrimp enchiladas. If you can eat seafood, these are great. The service has always been great when we have gone. Check it out.

We had a large dinner party of +16. Service was great, chips and salsa were provided quickly and the roasted salsa was great with a little heat in it, the chips were thin, crunchy and fresh. All our dishes looked great and our entire party seemed to enjoy their food. For such a large party and multiple birthday celebrations going on around our large table, the staff here performed amazingly. I would definitely come to dine here again.

This is a great authentic Mexican restaurant everything is 5 stars . The fresh made chips and salsa are so good you will be asking for refills . The atmosphere is calming and they are always playing great music . Their frozen margaritas are by far the best ones I have ever had . I ordered the salmon with shrimp and the portion size did not disappoint the dish was so amazing and very well seasoned . The carne asada fajitas are also very juicy and tender served with fresh made tortillas .I enjoyed the food and drinks .Definitely will be returning and I will be recommending this place to family and friends ! If you are ever in the DC area please don’t hesitate to try them out you will not regret it !!!!!

This is easily one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in DC! I love everything on the menu! Everything I’ve tried has been amazing! The food here is always good, the staff are always accommodating and the ambiance is always great! I’ve literally never had a bad experience at this restaurant! They do a great job of socially distancing all guests so you can feel safe whether you eat inside or out. I love Lauriol Plaza!

Went here for a graduation lunch this was my first time here it was 12 of us our waiter was Chris he was great. The food was pretty good can’t complain. I would definitely come here again to try something else I had a good time it’s pretty too the food was seasoned well I think and Chris was polite and patient with all of us so it was nice

Actually I’ve been coming to this restaurant consistently over 20 years! Why? Because their food and service is consistently fabulous. After Covid, we decided to visit again yesterday, and once again the food was fantastic. We had a really good time as we where accommodated in the main dining area, since I had a foot injury. The bus boy was a very young kid, shy but smiling. He served us with the most delish and warm home made tortilla chips (best in town according to me and 20+ years experience coming here.) Their salsa is now a bit more hot than I recalled but still tasty! The waiter seemed seasoned although a tad delayed in asking if we needed more water. But all in all the food was out quickly, their legendary frozen drinks on a scorching DC Sunday were amazing as well. We ordered the gambas al ajillo and tostones as an appetizer and to dine we had masitas de puerco and lomo saltado. Their portions are hefty and come with rice, black beans and they add two sweet plantains as well. Everything was on point! If you are in the city this restaurant has a variety of foods in their menu to enjoy. You won’t be disappointed. I always know they’ll take good care of us!

This restaurant is lovely. The food is out of the world and the drinks were phenomenal. totally worth the price. We had platter that could literally feed 6 people! The margarita pitcher served 6 full cups. Rafael took great care of my party of 9, who was celebrating my moms birthday. It was our first time visiting Lauriol Plaza and I will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu

It's a nice place, the best margaritas. They have happy hour at the bar from 3 to 6 p.m. They also have happy hour tacos for just $6. Me encanta lauriol plaza.

If you are planning a large dinner party this is the only place you should go! They were seriously so accommodating and the service was top notch! We were running late and they were incredibly kind and patient with our party! If you try to plan a large party anywhere else they have all these rules and make it complicated and uncertain you will even get a table. Not Lauriol Plaza! They took our reservation, nothing complicated and made us feel so welcomed! The service was just so incredible and I can’t let one more day going by without telling my amazing experience here! Not to mention the food is freaking amazing! My favorite was the tacos! Not the biggest fan of the ceviche, but everyone else loved what they ordered.

This place is amazing. I posted about our dinner there on social media and got a lot of friends saying how much they love this place so I guess it’s well known in DC. We had amazing Lamb Fajitas and a rockfish. They make great margaritas too. The service was absolutely 5 stars.

This is our favorite restaurant in DC for more than 15 years. We are always happy with the tasty food and the big portions they serve. I really love pollo saltado and all the salads. Brunch time here is really good too they serve fresh orange juice mimosas and lately they have added the yummy pancakes to their menu. Another big plus for this place is that they have their own parking lot so you don’t have to worry about that. Giving 5 stars for the many times we have come!

Great experience and the food was delicious. Had the combo fajitas, plate was sizzling. The gentleman that seated me was polite and full of energy. I asked for a suggestion, he took the time to explain some favorite cuisines. I was lucky to sit facing the mural. He also took time to mention specific people in the mural. I’m glad I went here for dinner. If I lived in the area, I would go often.

Some of the best food I've ever had. The salmon was delicious. The tres leches was one of the best deserts I've eaten. Will definitely be returning. Our server was amazing.

I stopped by Lauriol Plaza for the first time the other day, and what a beautiful restaurant it is. The service was fantastic, I asked the waiter for recommendations and they shared them eagerly. I ordered a chicken burrito which included complimentary chips and salsa. It was more than enough food for me! I should note that my rice was a bit overdone.

Service was great. We sat outside on the large patio. Beautiful 2 story restaurant inside too. Ordered the chicken enchiladas and the shrimp tacos. Added a side of guacamole. All everything was delicious. Prices are very reasonable.

The food at this Tex-Mex restaurant was delicious. We tried a margarita slushy with two flavors, lime and strawberry. It was sweet enough that the alcohol was barely noticeable, so be careful when sipping! Their homemade chips were warm and crispy, served with an avocado dip and a tomato salsa that was an explosion of flavor. Such simple yet delicious starters! For the main course, we ordered fajitas with three different proteins: beef, chicken, and shrimp. Unfortunately, they forgot the chicken, which was a bit disappointing. The beef was well-spiced, and the shrimp was juicy, although the chicken was somewhat bland. However, the freshly made fajita bread was a highlight that I really enjoyed

We visited Lauriol Plaza on Mother’s Day. It was crowded but we were seated quickly. The young lady that helped us was attentive and the food arrived quickly. The tamales were tasty. The salsa had a little heat to it which was good. The carne asada was sizzling when it arrived. I liked the Mexican butter. The shrimp tacos were good. Overall, I would go back again to eat here. We also had the Margarita swirl which was good.

M
Murat Kucukkazdal

The atmosphere at this restaurant is nice, and the employees are friendly. Their frozen margaritas are strong and tasty! I tried the fajitas, and they were okay. However, the chips and salsa were my favorite, as I love Latin food, and their salsa is one of the best I've had.As for the fajitas, I asked for them to be well done, but the vegetables weren’t cooked as nicely as I would have liked, and the sides weren’t very tasty. I also requested a little sour cream and was surprised to see an extra charge for it. When paying over $31 for an entrée, I feel small extras like sour cream should be included. I tend to notice the little things, unfortunately.

#Sensational If there were anything I had to critique, I would say something of the selections are a tab bit pricey and for some of the meals they offer that don't get ordered a lot to switch them out for something fresh and new.

It's a nice place. We sat outside to watch the streets and feel the natural wind. The food was good, but not to the "wow" extent. I like the Maryland crab dish, but my friends said it had a bit too much cheese - but well you know, we Asians don't eat a lot of cheese. The staff were very friendly.

We went on a Saturday at 7 and it was packed. It took a few minutes to get sat with a reservation, but once we were at our table our server was pretty quick getting drinks and orders in. Highly recommend the frozen swirl margarita and single spinach enchilada as those were incredibly tasty. The small plate cheese quesadilla is definitely true to its name, though, so be sure you really don’t want much food before ordering (it was so small for its whopping $13.95 price tag that we forgot to take a picture of it). It was more expensive than my single spinach enchilada and still somehow a lot less food. Overall, I still had an enjoyable time. The service was quick and friendly for how incredibly packed they were, and the restaurant itself is really nice when it gets dark out. However, I would not recommend this place for larger parties. We had 7 and it was at times extremely difficult to hear each other over all of the other guests. If you have a smaller group and are closer to each other, it’s probably a lot better experience. It may also have just been where we were sat—the middle of the second floor. I will probably go back sometime with just my partner to try the enchiladas and margaritas again!

Good Mexican food. Service was better than average. Drinks were delicious and shrimp and crab quesdilla was amazing. The Marisco Salgado and chicken enchiladas were okay. We were sat at a table in the middle of the room and staff bumped into us A LOT. The music playing in the background was interesting...several children's, kids bops, and disney songs.

Great food at a great price. Entrees are filling. Chips and salsa are complimentary. They have daily specials and a good happy hour (only available at the bar, though). Seating at the bar is limited, so go early if you want to take advantage of the happy hour deals.

Cristina is the reason to dine at Lauriol Plaza. She’s amazing. Cristina makes you feel like you are the most important customer. The food is decent. Masitas de Puerco is one of their best dishes. They also have a variety of delicious salads. Swirl margaritas are delicious. The Mango margarita is also quite good. Sitting on the outside patio is enjoyable, especially in the fall or spring.

My husband and I were so excited to come here tonight. I've been hearing good things about this restaurant for years and finally decided to go today. Upon entering, we were greeted by really friendly staff. We were seated in the balcony by the windows with a nice view of the city. It started off great. Once our waiter came to take our order, that's when it started to go down hill. I'm not going to bore you with the details of everything that happened but basically our waiter had no idea of the specials. Even after we told him it was written on the board downstairs, he didn't believe us. He never introduced himself and didn't give us any information about the menu or restaurant after telling him it was our first time. I personally felt like he didn't want to be there. Even after many thank yous, he never said anything back to us. The food was very good and one of the better tex-mex restaurants I've been to in the area. The service, not so much. No one checked in on us during our meal to see if we needed anything else. We had to flag another server down to get more drinks but I could see our server chatting it up with the other servers by the stair well while the balcony area was getting pretty busy. Will I go back again? Maybe, because the food was pretty good and i would love to try their other items. I had hopes for a restaurant that has been around for so many years. Too bad it didn't live up to it's reputation. We ordered the calamari, seafood stew and branzino. Also loved the Margherita swirl with mango and lime.

Unfortunately food was not that great at all! Even tho was not super busy we still have to wait almost 40min. I have the tamarindo margarita which was horrible. At list the Ceviche was good.

Food was good. It was SO hot inside. We requested to move to a cooler table and we were told no despite many open tables. Sweating and eating is unacceptable. Please call an AC service for help. (This was for 7 pm reservations too!). They could not keep up with refills on water either. Whole experience was not good.

I used to enjoy this restaurant for its quality and generous portions. After years, I ordered takeout and was very disappointed. The food lacked flavor, portions were extremely small for the price ($30+per meal), and several items were poorly prepared. The salmon was tasteless, shrimp portions were minimal, and the chicken tacos were steamed instead of grilled with very small portions. Overall, the value did not match the cost. I would not recommend this restaurant given the price and experience.

Here’s a sharper version that includes the Valentine’s Day issue: --- I’m extremely disappointed with our experience at **Lauriol Plaza** on Valentine’s Day. We made a reservation well in advance, only to arrive and find complete chaos. The restaurant had clearly overbooked — there were easily 50+ people crammed into the entry area waiting to be seated. We still ended up waiting over an hour past our reservation time. What’s the point of taking reservations if you’re going to stack them on top of each other? Valentine’s Day is not a surprise date on the calendar. If anything, it’s one of the most predictable nights of the year. Overbooking to that extent shows poor planning and a disregard for customers’ time. To make it worse, there was little to no communication from staff. We were repeatedly told “it’ll just be a few more minutes,” while the crowd kept growing and tensions were clearly rising. It felt disorganized, overcrowded, and frankly unsafe. By the time we were finally seated, the evening already felt ruined. A special occasion turned into standing around hungry and frustrated in a packed lobby. If you’re thinking about coming here for a holiday or special event, be prepared for long waits — reservation or not. Very disappointing and poorly managed experience.

Hmmm the vegetarian dishes here were not good at all…! The nachos and enchilada were honestly abhorrent ;__; Surprisingly limited options for the cuisine, too. The chips, salsa, and mojitos were alright and the service was friendly. Overall pretty pricey. Edit: we both got food poisoning on top of all this 😭😭

Words Beats and Life

Just had the worst experience. I placed my order online, and when I arrived, the bartender had not seen it, which was fine because they prepared my order in about 10 minutes. However, when I arrived home, I realized my order was incomplete, which was fine. So I just had the salad and beans I ordered and expected to be able to call and be refunded. Instead, I was told I would need to drive the 30 minutes back and then drive 30 minutes home instead of being given the refund I requested. I was told their mistake was my responsibility. This is especially disappointing because I have been a customer for about 20 years. I won't be back because, rather than taking responsibility for their multiple mistakes in one ordering process, they responded that it's my responsibility. I will spend my money at restaurants that take responsibility for their mistakes. It's so disappointing cause I love the food. #loselose

Attended on Valentine’s Day. Experience was subpar. It all started as soon as we walked in. We were met by a host who just looked extremely annoyed he was working. We were sat down. We ordered appetizers and our food but they brought our appetizers at the same time as the food. We had a small table so it was very uncomfortable. Our waiter was annoyed when I requested certain food modifications. Not once did he come to check in on us and the food or to see if we needed anything additional. I ordered 2 cokes in addition to our cocktails. It took our waiter a good 20 minutes to bring out our cokes. I know Valentine’s Day is a busy day but it is the restaurants job to ensure enough people are scheduled to keep up with the level of demand this day creates. Also our waiter gave us our check without asking if we even wanted dessert. I’ll definitely have to reconsider visiting this restaurant due to the terrible service. We were not the only ones, table next to us couldn’t wait to get out because of how bad the service was.

Went to LP on Valentines Day. To start, the reservation desk was a mess and the people working were taking a long time, so they lobby was backing up. We waited 10 minutes in line, despite being early for our 6pm reservation. The wait staff were busy bustling all about and doing everything except attend to customers. My partners steak came out absolutely ice cold and my pork dish was overcooked and very chewy. Not to forget, we ordered and the food didnt come for 55 minutes. Our beverages were never refilled. We were never offered dessert and not once did anyone ask if things tasted good - we had to tell them about the cold steak. Currently we have been here for over 90 minutes and still waiting for a check. LP has been a nice restaurant typically, but tonight was not their best effort. We will not be back for a long time.

L

I made this reservation well in advance. We arrived exactly at 6:00 PM, and they were letting people in without reservations on a first-come, first-served basis. This meant that we stood in line to ask for our table, and right in front of us, a woman without a reservation arrived and was given a table for four and allowed to go in. When it was my turn, the hostess told me they no longer had any tables available. I showed her my reservation, and she said it didn’t matter, it was based on who arrived first. I am pregnant, and we came from very far away to try this restaurant. They had us wait off to the side for 20 minutes. I approached the hostess to ask how much longer it would be, and she said they only had tables for two people. At that same moment, she let another group without a reservation go in. This is truly disrespectful of people’s time. If they are not going to honor reservations made in advance, they should not offer the option to make one. It’s a shame, the food was good, but we will never be coming back
