Came here for dinner and was very impressed. Everything was fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy and not too noisy. The service was great, and the timing was appropriate. All of the food was prepared well and tasted great. I had the Kabobs, which were tender and juicy, and there was plenty leftover to box up. I definitely recommend coming here if you haven't already.
Great food! Love the mussels ( cream white wine sauce ), and favorite entree was the lamb chops. Definitely worth the price. One of the most comfortable atmosphere to dine in with your partner, it’s pretty lively and all the servers are attentive. Would come back again and try new dishes.
I've been wanting to try this place for over a year and it was worth the wait. Initially I found it when looking for gluten free friendly restaurants and it had great reviews. A lot of their dishes can be made gluten free including some pastas. This place was *cozy* but modern. Great atmosphere especially if you go during a quiet time. We went at 830 which was perfect cuz the rush was over and we got a great table. Service was great, very attentive and great recommendations. I even asked for a recommendation on champagne/prosecco and they ended up bringing me a sample of something not even on the menu yet which was exactly the taste I wanted. We both got steak, the NY strip and filet. We both agreed that these were the best steaks we've had in a very long time. My partner got the strip med-rare and it was *actually* medium rare. We got the fried pork belly app and Brussel sprouts app. I don't even like Brussel sprouts... like low key hate them but these were GOOD. I could see this place being a place that's not great when super busy. It's not a big restaurant and some of the tables were pretty tight. So I definitely recommend a reservation and going during a less busy time if possible. Will definitely be coming back
A really nice place for lunch. The service was great and my friend and I really enjoyed our food. My lamb burger was large, juicy, and delicious and my friend enjoyed her Mediterranean salad. Nice and clean, tables not too close together, so we felt very comfortable dining in. And beautiful fresh flowers at every table.
Delicious high quality food, friendly staff and clean, cozy atmosphere. The calamari was cooked to perfection - fresh & tender, pappardelle with mushrooms was exactly what I was hoping for - flavorful, perfect texture and seasoned beautifully! Dessert did not disappoint either. We will be back!
Mazi DC is easily one of my favorite restaurants in DC! It’s got an incredible waiting staff, flavorful dishes made with fresh ingredients, and last but not least - a reasonable priced menu (compared to DC standards). That’s a rare collection of qualities to find in most eateries across DC.
I went here last night to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday. Me, my daughter and her friends could not have asked for a better experience. Top Notch for sure, Luis was our server and he was the best. Knowledgeable about the menu and made really good suggestions. We were running late for our reservation due to traffic and they were so accommodating with pushing it back. The food was 10/10, I got the Trio Mushroom as a starter and it was so good. For my main I got the lamb which was divine! All of my girls enjoyed their meals as well and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to my daughter when they brought her cake out. Highly recommend this place and I will be going back😊
Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere I would recommend listening to your server ~ all his recommendations were amazing. The honey feta was soo good and the lamb meatballs I loved the most. I would come back over and over if I lived here.
I came on a Tuesday. I was early for my 6P reservation but was seated right away (it was not busy at the time). Food was good (NY Strip, chicken kebabs, and Chilean sea bass). We also had the Brussel sprouts and pork belly for starters. The potatoes that came with the NY Strip were a little lemony for my taste, but otherwise everything was great. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake. Only downside to this place is that it is one block over from McPherson Square...
What a great find during our trip to DC! Beautiful ambiance and friendly, helpful staff. Loved everything we ordered, and that's saying a lot bc my kids are picky when ordering off the adult menu. Drinks were great too! Next time would like to try the fish
One of the best pork chops I’ve had. Date night brought us here. Customer service was great. We didn’t have reservations but were seated in a timely manner. Seating is intimate and you can feel close to neighboring tables. We enjoyed our food overall.
Had a delicious dinner from beginning to end. Everything we ordered was good. The Halloumi bruschetta appetizer was yummy. Hemingway's Dream hit the spot. The Chilean Sea Bass and pappardelle mushroom were delicious. The tiramisu and peanut butter chocolate mousse were divine.
Mazi DC is a culinary gem! Their chicken Alfredo is creamy perfection, while the grilled salmon boasts exquisite flavor. The grilled Halloumi cheese bruschetta is a delightful blend of savory and tangy. Their peanut butter chocolate mousse is heavenly indulgence that's simply irresistible. Every dish is crafted with care and bursting with flavor, making Mazi DC a must-visit for any food lover seeking a delightful dining experience.
The ambiance was beautiful. The staff was great at accommodating our large party for my daughter's graduation ! We would definitely go again.
Good food, excellent service. My lamb was over cooked and quickly corrected. Everything was delicious. I think it was a little overpriced. Drinks were good as well.
Total experience! Classic bistro setting. Fantastic bourbon selection. Food is phenomenal and so well prepared. The chicken and wine was perfectly cooked! Yani, owner and host, was sublime.
We had an awesome dinner this past Saturday night. Perfect new spot downtown for great food and drinks! My Favorites were definitely the Veal Tomahawk Stake & the Pan Fried Crispy Pork Belly but others on the table equally enjoyed the Kefte, Calamari, Pappardelle and Burgers and others.
We had a group event there with great food and great service. The fish and chips were excellent and the tiramisu was outstanding . I am definitely going back the next time I go to DC!
Very welcoming from the beginning. Jairo was friendly and on top of every detail to ensure our dining experience was the best. Super friendly and professional! Food came in great portions, more than we expected it. Chicken Kabobs took me back to my travels to the middle east - perfectly charcoal grilled with generous portion of veggies and the yogurt base sauce! Caymus special for $20/glass was unbeatable. And the friend pork belly for entree was heavenly! Reservations were seamless and service prompt! The manager/owner (?) And his staff were fantastic!
I would definitely return when in the DMV area. The food and drinks were outstanding! About 15 of us went, and we sampled a variety of dishes. I must say that my son's pork chop was perfectly seasoned, just like the brussel sprouts. The service was exceptional! Thanks to Mitch for this fantastic recommendation!
Had such a great dinner at Mazi DC! 🤩 The steak was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, and the salad was super fresh and tasty. 🥗 The whole vibe was so cozy and the location is perfect for a night out. Definitely recommend checking it out! 👍
Quiet restaurant, nice seating, and we had the best server ever! They serve what tasted like home baked bread and the fluffiest salted butter. So good! The lamb cube appetizer is the best so definitely get that. And get the seafood pasta. Trust me! And if you order nothing else get the galaktoboureko!! You won’t be disappointed. The chicken in the Alfredo pasta was grilled, had that yummy texture on the outside, and was still tender and moist on the inside. I could eat that chicken for days. The Alfredo pasta itself (and the sauce) was delish, as well. I was worried about ordering it because Alfredo is seen as “less than” by a lot of people. But, hey, if it’s delicious who cares! And Mazi DC knows how to elevate it to new heights! The seafood pasta was my absolute favorite! Yum! The sauce was so flavorful and infused by the seafood. The scallops were perfection. And the mushroom pappardelle stood out, too, but the competition was stiff. The Chilean sea bass is incredible. Flaky, savory, and delicious. Recommend that. The galaktoboureko was my favorite dessert. It is a must, muuust. I am craving it as I type this! We had a Greek companion at the table, so the fact that this blew her mind is saying something! Second favorite was the chocolate lava cake. Nostalgic, classic, yummy, fun. The peanut butter chocolate mousse cake was a great dessert, too. Again, stiff competition. George is the best waiter, ever, okay? I mean I can be indecisive, but today was a whole other level for — not just me — the entire table. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxing, mild, warm, and sets a calming tone. Support staff were also very quick and smily and great.
The place is very nice and warm, the waiters are amazing, great service they run after me for a block to bring my wife’s glasses case. The food was delicious. I had the lamb burger of this picture. Remarkable!
Excellent food and service! Everyone was kind and attentive but my server Daniel was especially amazing! A must try when in DC
amazing amazing amazing! Salmon, Chicken Alfredo, Honey Feta, Bruschetta, & Mussels! Our server, Elsa, did a fantastic job!
The food has Mediterranean lean. Everything was delicious (roasted brussel sprouts, seafood pasta, pork souvlaki). Great ambiance and location for a weekend lunch.
Solid 5/5 experience all around. Reservations were easy via OpenTable, service was quick and friendly, my chicken fettuccine Alfredo was perfect, and my wife loved her bone in pork chop. Very relaxed atmosphere but a bit loud. No complaints. Would definitely recommend.
My company has an annual conference we are in DC for each year and we always book Mazi. George has been extremely helpful and accomodating: I have had to change my reservation THREE TIMES (sorry, George!!) and he has been nothing but gracious and friendly and kind. You cannot beat the service here and the food and atmosphere never dissapoints. We are Mazi customers for life!
I was in DC for work and decided to pick a restaurant I could walk to from my hotel. I’m sooo glad I ended up here! I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and some dinner. The bartender George was wonderful! Very attentive and helped me picked something on the menu that would appease my dairy allergy. I ended up ordering the pork souvlaki and it was delicious! Drink was great, food was great, vibe was great. Highly recommend!
For frequent diners in downtown DC, our visit to Mazi was enjoyable. Our selections of lamb cubes and mussels as starters, penna pasta and fish and chips for the main events, and a Greek custard for dessert were excellent: reasonably priced, well prepared and presented, complemented by cocktails from a bartender who knows his craft. The restaurant was quiet enough on a Friday night for easy conversation, with a little background music. Service was attentive, not overbearing. The staff got along well. No surcharges on the bill. An easy walk from the Metro, a few blocks from the White House. We’re adding Mazi to our group of restaurants to enjoy and recommend.
Great food and a very attentive staff. Youtis and his staff accommodated our small group on a very busy night. It is a great place for a small group for business meetings. Love it.
The service was great. Food was amazing. We were group of 6 and everyone ordered different dishes. Everything looked and tasted great. Seafood pasta is a must. Pork chop was big and juicy (also recommend by the server). Appetizers (Brussels sprouts and trio of mushrooms) were just great. I would definitely come back.
We stumbled upon this place and it ended up being fabulous! My salmon was perfectly cooked, the veggies and rice were super delicious too. Our server was super nice and attentive. I will be coming back!
Amazing. The Chilean sea bass was the star of the table — flaky, flavorful, and delicious. The chicken (in the Alfredo and the kebab) was grilled and seasoned perfectly. Delicious lamb cubes, too. The seafood pasta and mushroom pappardelle were definitely no slouches, either! They may have been even better than the New York strip. The light and fluffy tiramisu was my favorite dessert. The peanut butter chocolate mousse cake was the runner-up, and the table's favorite. Then the galaktoboureko, and lastly the chocolate lava cake. George is an outstanding waiter; extremely accommodating and very patient with my indecisive companions. The atmosphere is very beautiful and romantic, and quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Will definitely return (again)!
The service was good, the atmosphere in a cloudy and rainy Monday was also good (with nice music on the speakers). The food was well presented and OK portion. The only negative point is that the chicken had extra salt impacting the flavour. It wasn't just mine, my colleague that ordered the same dish had the same issue.
Came here recently for dinner on a Thursday—we had reservations but the restaurant wasn’t packed so was seated right away. Heads up, street parking is a big difficult around the restaurant. Overall food was good. For starters, I enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura! The Pan Fried Crispy Pork Belly was a bit disappointing, was very bland. For entrees, would recommend both the Lamb Chops and Chicken Kebab! For desserts, the Chocolate Lava was delicious. And the service was great.
I really enjoyed the ambiance. The service and food were good. I ordered the mushrooms to start. Then the fish and chips dish. It wasn't mind-blowing, but good. If you are in the area and need food, then go for it. I don't plan to come back.
We came for a friends birthday so we were a group of 9. We called and they were easily able to book us on a Thursday night. Their menu has a wide range from kebobs to pastas and seafood. I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms which was delicious! I loved the sauce. Some other dishes that were ordered were the Mediterranean Sea bass, seafood pasta, lamb burger, chicken kebobs and New York strip. No complaints for any of the food, all delicious! The ambiance is more upscale, but for a Thursday night it was pretty quiet. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful the whole night, and overall it was a great dinner spot!
Went to Mazi with some friends for a birthday dinner. Ambience and service was quite good. I ordered a Bourbon Mule which I have had before ...the taste was a bit off so I wasn't a huge fan. However the lamb burger I had was delicious and my friends also enjoyed their meals particularly the lamb chops. Price is a bit high for meal sizes but if you want to splurge a bit...its a good night out
I was debating between 4 and 5 stars. The waitress was professional and friendly and the food was delicious. But there were some Minor stuff that they can improve, like removing salad plates before you serve entree and a spoon for a pasta dish when the food was served and a plate or a bowel for shells when a seafood dish was served. Recommend seafood pasta!
Somewhat pedestrian cuisine, excellent service, and unremarkable ambience make this not the most ideal of outings. Also, it's a far cry from New American cuisine, more of the Mediterranean variety with kebabs, souvlaki, kefte, etc. We started with the Honey Feta Cheese (Greek feta, filo dough, sesame seeds, organic honey) which was spectacular, but it went downhill from there. Definitely the must try appetizer. Next was the Kefte (beef and pork meatballs) and they were ok, just ok. No memorable flavor but well made.. The Greek salad (Greek Authentica (tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, red onions, kalamata olives, greek feta, capers) was a fine one, but fairly mundane as greek salads go. The Pan Fried Crispy Pork Belly (lime glaze) was disappointing. Not very juicy or flavorful, underwhelming as pork bellies go. The cocktails were amateurish, would definitely pass there. Our server was excellent; friendly and knowledgeable, she was the highlight of the evening.
Food was okay for the price. I ordered to-go from the bar; the bartender was attentive and seemed knowledgeable about drink recommendations.
All the food was good but the seafood was on a different level. It was cooked to perfection. The drinks were not very nice but we still drunk it.
I really, really wanted to like this place. The food LOOKS delicious online, but when it comes to TASTE - it lacks the small touches that makes truly remarkable food, unforgettable. Namely the seasoning was lacking across the entire 4-person dinner. And to make matters worse, my wife's Fish & Chips and my deep-fried Shrimp...both hadnt been left to rest long enough & drain the oil off - so they ended up feeling soggy & oily (yuck) and the breading was falling off the meat.
Underwhelming and somewhat disappointing. Service was slow and inattentive. Very loud dining area. Food was good but not great - many dishes were underseasoned. While lamb burger was especially juicy and tasty, side carrots were meh and filet mignon was just OK. Warm chocolate cake (free as a consolation for slow service) was a highlight and real treat. Overall, worth a try but we likely won’t be back.
Not sure how this spot os rated so well. The service was terrible - incredibly inattentive and impersonal. Worse, the food was also not good. My fish arrived nearly raw and worse tasted fishy. We alerted them and they just recooked the same piece of fish and then bought it back out. For a $43 dollar dish and with the rating of the restaurant I expected the food to be both cooked and fresh. Total disappointment.
I visited Mazi for my partner’s birthday dinner and had noted a special request on OpenTable, mentioning that I flew in from across the country and would appreciate something special for the celebration. Unfortunately, the restaurant did nothing to acknowledge, which was disappointing. Service was lacking; many waitstaff were on their phones, making us feel unwelcome. I chose Mazi partly based on reviews highlighting its celebration-friendly atmosphere (people posted happy birthday cupcakes). The food was hit or miss. The grilled chicken on chicken Alfredo was dry, and the pasta sauce was overly watery. For an expensive restaurant, I didn't expect to see store-bought shredded Parmesan on top. However, the honey feta and lamb chops were enjoyable. Additionally, the automatic 20% gratuity for a party of two felt unwarranted given the service we received. Overall, this was not a good experience, and I would not dine here again.
I made reservations for dinner to celebrate my birthday with my family. We were welcomed by the host and seated at a nice table. Our server Dimitris came by and took our order and we never heard from him again. I did see him check on the other tables right next to us multiple times. It didn’t bother me as much as it bothered my husband, since it was my birthday. My two kids were with us and not once were we offered to see a dessert menu. We did not receive the Greek Authentica salad that we ordered, however I did not complain until we saw it on the bill at the end. He did remove it from the bill and brought us the bill again. Then I asked to see the dessert menu on my own. He came by and apologized to me after we paid saying that he had a conference table to serve and he was really busy or something along those lines. To be 100% honest, The food was absolutely delicious. It was the service that ruined my night.
The atmosphere, interior design, and service was great. However, when it came to the food, it wasn’t that appetizing or different. Where was the seasoning?! I had the Pappardelle with Mushrooms and Kefte(I believe it is) for the appetizer. The beer selection was great as I am a fan of beers and they had a variety and not just your standard selection. However, the food is the thing that makes the restaurant. The Pappardelle with Mushrooms certainly satisfied my stomach but was not appetizing. It felt like it could’ve just been placed in the microwave or warmer. It could have been done better or added ingredients to flare up the meal. I did really love the Kefte with the special sauce that comes with it.
Had the mussels. So bad. From frozen, clearly. Moved on to the Brussels. Am I at a sports pub? The fish and chips were horrible. Disgusting, actually. Like from a fast food place. The chicken kabob was clean and fresh, the only thing that was good. Our service was super good. Really can’t believe how bad the food is.
