My friend and I had a wonderful experience - we ordered burgers and they were perfect! We substituted fries for green beans and mushrooms and absolutely loved them. Our drinks were served promptly and food was served quickly. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. Lovely ambiance, too. I look forward to being back!
We went for Brunch at The Wharf in DC. We had a 1:00pm reservation at The Grill for Valentine’s Day but was seated early. The Restaurant is so beautiful. Great atmosphere. The Greeter: Cesar was so friendly and courteous. He seated us outside and it was so warm and cozy. The Server: Stephanie was friendly and courteous as well. She assisted us with different drink, options and food. The food and drinks and dessert were so delicious. The restaurant did not disappoint. We will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Wonderful food, served around 5pm too as the restaurant was just getting busy. All our food was served hot and really good. Burger and Pavlova were terrific. Overall good service, good atmosphere. Only downside was the heat in the room despite outdoor temps in the 20s. It was just too hot. Many around us were peeling off jackets, sweaters, pull overs, just to get cooler. No idea about the available parking in and around the Wharf where The Grill is located. Like all of D.C., there's no where to park.
This was a great establishment. The food was excellent as well as the the service. Our waitress Taylor was awesome she check on us periodically and was very friendly. Very nice restaurant and the host was also very friendly getting us to our seats. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try if you are in the area.
We loved our dinner here. Excellent service, beautiful atmosphere and the food was wonderful. We decided to both do the ribeye tasting menu and we really enjoyed each course, especially the steak. For all the food you get it’s a great deal. I enjoyed sampling all the mini appetizers and thought it was a special dining experience. We sat outside and loved the water view. I Would like to add every person who worked here that we talked to (hostess, our server, etc) was extremely welcoming and professional and added to our time here. As someone who uses google reviews often to decide where to eat, personally I think this restaurant should have higher reviews than the 4.1 they have now. It’s worth going to if you want to have a special meal. Thanks for making my birthday meal special ☺️
My coworkers and I had walked the wharf to find a spot to eat for dinner while in town and originally thought The Grill would be the place, although we wanted to see if anything else tickled our fancy. We were so glad to eat at The Grill. The food was impeccable and the service was top notch. If you or anyone you know is staying near The Wharf, have at least one dinner here - you will come back for more because I know I will.
Went here for lunch with a coworker and the crab cake was incredible. It was also Gluten Free! The portions are huge. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere is great. Highly recommend for a business lunch.
So, this is just another restaurant/bar on the District Wharf. The food was quite tasty. The Mussel's .... they were mouth watering fantastic and what made it so good was the white wine, blue cheese, chipotle, cream sauce that they were soaking in. The Lamb kabobs with very tasty. The Grill Burger was good. Overall, really enjoyed our time here. Staff was great, especially David, our server. He was very attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable and very welcoming. We would stop here again and try their grilled upside down pineapple cake.
What an excellent dining experience. We started out with the deviled eggs and the mussels. The deviled aha were delicious and the mussels were outstanding. The broth from the mussels were absolutely amazing. We had to get some extra bread for the broth. For our entrees I had the bbq ribs which were really good. My girlfriend enjoyed the burger. Our server was Travis and he was outstanding. He poured with the menu and did an excellent job in ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care of without being overbearing. We definitely enjoyed our experience and will absolutely come back again.
Exceptional experience! I went with 5 coworkers and we all loved our food. The steaks were definitely the highlight, though the Chilean Sea Bass was a strong contender! The staff was amazing as well. One of the steaks came too rare for one of my coworkers and the manager herself came out to apologize and bring a fresh steak. Love that service! I even got the pineapple upside down cake to go and it was spectacular. I highly recommend this place, especially if work is footing the bill!
This is the first time I do a review before leaving the restaurant... That's how good this place is!!! Facilities are beautiful, well maintain, and in perfect location. The staff is friendly and attentive (Roberto was our server). THE FOOD!!!! it seems to me that the attention to detail by the chef staff is off the roof! Everything came to our table was too perfection, from the meat, the salmon, the salad, the fries, the drinks! Everything here seems perfectly setup to serve the best food experience possible, there is no second place for this staff, everything is done to the best experience for the customer! We will definitely be back! ♥️
I had a really enjoyable meal here. The food was delicious and yes I would go back. I ordered a margarita and it was amazing omg. This is the grilled chicken sandwich and it was very tasty and the fries were perfect.
Came here for the Valentine’s Day menu and it was absolutely delicious! Each course tasted amazing and the service was lovely.
Went to the warf to check out different menus and this one caught my eye. The outside seating was very serene next to the water and perfect for people watching lol. The staff and manager were very very nice! Our food 8 out 10. Also Seasoned perfectly! My grilled Trout sat on top of couscous. I had to ask what is was not a huge fan of it but this one was made Right! I'm not sure but I believe it had onion, zucchini and squash finely chopped in it. If your not a fan of zucchini or squash I promise you, you won't taste it. It paired perfectly in the sauce it was cooked in. They just changed the deviled eggs which previously had duck paste to crab. I don't normally order them but glad I did. They hit the mark. A definite keeper! I had 3 different perfectly paired flavors going on in my mouth. Very interesting 👌. The grilled cantaloupe, prosciutto and cheese 🤔🤔 ummm, different, not terrible. I'm always open to try something interesting. The lamb kabobs was a weird concept of minced lamb and Mediterranean flavors with tzatziki sauce. Just throw that whole appetizer away. I was told it got 50/ 50 reactions. I believe if it goes bk to the kitchen 50% of the time that is a waste. The honey butter rolls were delicious but I would suggest they not cook them so dark. You may have to say something idk..I don't prefer to eat the inside because the top is crunchy or overcooked, I want it all! I finished with the Key lime which I will give 7 out of 10. I don't believe they have the grilled trout on their menu regularly but I hope they add it. That alone was 10 out of 10 for me and I would definitely be bk to order that again!
Our server was a bit slow and had no friendliness. She just served us and that was it. Other than that everything was great! We ordered Calimari, Mussels, Club Salad, and a burger. All were so delicious. The Calamari was the bomb! Not sure what sauce they put on top but it was so good that we ordered another. All were so delicious that I forgot to take pictures except the second Calimari. Love the location, by the water, and close to the seafood market.
We ended up here when a neighboring restaurant was unexpectedly closed for a private event. We sat down in a bad mood but this place changed our mind. The calamari app was unique and well prepared. The chicken sandwich was very good and a huge portion. The crispy fish sliders were the star. The view was excellent but the design of the main door/patio needs work. There is a logo on what is a back door the staff use for the computer station. The main door has no logo so many people wander in and try to enter through the back door. Simply closing off the patio with rope stations would fix this.
What a lovely restaurant! So glad we stopped by, we were starving and decided to give it a try, and we definitely didn’t regret it. Our server, David, was beyond amazing and so helpful! He made our experience so much easier, especially since we’re Muslim and can’t have any food with liquor or ham. He was incredibly understanding and went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, we truly appreciated that. Here are my ratings: • Oysters on the half shell 10/10 • Crispy calamari 8/10 • Filet mignon (medium-well) 10/10 • Herbed fries 3/10 • Ora king salmon 7/10 • New York strip 7/10 • Skirt steak (kids menu) 8/10, they loved it • Ice cream (kids menu), a perfect sweet treat to end the meal The place is spacious, the ambience is calming, and I absolutely loved the interior. It had such a relaxing and inviting vibe. Would definitely come back again!
Tavis was great , he was so helpful in helping me choose a different options and gave me his own personal favorites. We had a great time and our food was good.
Amazing service from. TAYLOR!!!. We ordered the Branzino. It was by far the best I've had!! Can't wait to come back.
High end and absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed outside seating with a view of the water. The staff was exceptional. Everything had so much flavor. Order the All Bites appetizer for your table and your guests will thank you. A perfect meal experience.
Very good food here. My NY strip was a bit overcooked for medium but was still very flavorful and chimichurri sauce was really good. The desserts were amazing too. Tavis was an excellent waiter that was super friendly.
Recently, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at a grill located in DC, and we had a wonderful experience. The highlight of our meal was the delicious Cajun Branzino served with twice baked potatoes, which was expertly prepared and full of flavor. My wife enjoyed the Petite Fillet Minion accompanied by pesto green beans, which she found equally delightful. The ambiance was perfect, with a gentle breeze from the Potomac River adding to the evening's charm. It truly enhanced our dining experience, making it memorable and enjoyable. For dessert, we indulged in a coffee and a slice of cheesecake, both of which were absolutely delicious and capped off our meal perfectly. Overall, our visit to this grill in DC was a great experience. The quality of the food, the pleasant atmosphere, and the stunning river view combined to create a lovely evening for us. We look forward to returning to savor more of their excellent cuisine in the future.
Went here for dinner and to catch the eagles game. And even though they lost thankfully the grill was a comfy place to be! The food here is always good and the steak is always flavorful. Can’t beat the views of the area and the bar guarantees good service. I love it here where you can get a solid meal and it’s known for that.
We had a great experience! The staff were attentive and professional the second we walked in the door. We were seated right away, and treated with respect even in our pretty casual clothing! My son got the kids cheeseburger and enjoyed the ice cream he got with his meal! I got the freebird half chicken with the peppercorn sauce with a side of the green beans (basil and cilantro pesto with toasted almonds). So delicious!
I had been here for dinner awhile back, but went here for brunch a few weeks ago & fell more in love! The grill punch is SO good & the bottomless option is truly a great deal. The service was very friendly, so sad I cannot remember the server’s name 🫤 but don’t hesitate to check out the Grill.
My boyfriend and I went to The Grill for happy hour on our vacation and had phenomenal food. The caviar tater tots are delicious, we ended up ordering a second order.
Thank you, Destynee, for making our experience truly unforgettable. As the manager, you set the tone for excellence from the moment we arrived, and it truly showed throughout our entire visit. We chose to sit at the bar, and the atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, and perfectly suited for an enjoyable evening. The service at the bar was outstanding attentive, friendly, and efficient without ever feeling rushed. Destynee’s leadership was evident in how smoothly everything ran and how well the staff worked together. The food was absolutely exceptional, with every dish prepared beautifully and full of flavor, making the experience even more memorable. Overall, this visit exceeded our expectations in every way. Between the incredible food, excellent bar service, and Destynee’s hands on management and hospitality, we had a fantastic time. We will absolutely be back and look forward to returning again soon.
Chose The Grill’s new location in Virginia Beach last night for our son’s birthday dinner and had an amazing experience. Terrific service, the restaurant is beautiful and we loved the atmosphere. They knew we were celebrating a birthday and brought out a complimentary appetizer as well as a dessert with a sparkler at the end of the meal. The burger and petit filet were delicious and we all gave two thumbs up to the herb fries and the cheese crab dip. Great evening!
Exceptionally good food. High quality, delicious, well-plated. We got the bites sampler and the deviled eggs were the star (I’d just get those next time because even though everything else was good, I couldn’t finish my other food so it was too much.) Kids got grilled cheese (which was stupid good, simple but high quality and perfectly cooked) and burger, which was also good. Husband said the burger was good, but not exceptional. Wedge salad was incredible, the extra-thick cut bacon with the Point Reyes blue cheese was amazing! The only thing I didn’t care for was the seasoned fries, which were seasoned with a spice I’m not overly familiar with (tarragon, maybe?) and just weren’t for me. Overall a really amazing experience and we will be back!
In town for a weekend vacation and this spot exceeded my expectations. The server Tavin was exceptional in every manner. The crab deviled eggs are phenomenally, a must get item. The branzino was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The burger was very tasty. Lamb skewers were top notch. This is a must get to restaurant.
Went for a dinner on a Friday night and really enjoyed this restaurant. My fiancée and I both got steak which was cooked very well and honestly didn’t even need the sauce that came with it as it was so flavorful; the mac and cheese was also phenomenal. Would definitely recommend this place to others and we will likely be back ourselves.
Highly recommend. The filet was so good. Locally sourced according to the menu. The flavors complimented our choice of medium rare, with the peppercorn sauce. Our server was very attentive and friendly. You will not go wrong here!
The restaurant was lovely and our server Camry was amazing . The dirty martini was immaculately made!!! Some of the food was just ok mainly the appetizers , but the steak was cooked nicely but needed a bit more seasoning. All in all I would recommend this place for a cute date night or outing .
I stopped by The Grill at the Harbor while visiting The Wharf, craving a good steak. I ordered the New York Strip, cooked medium-well, and while the price was steep at $51, I was really in the mood for steak, so I went for it. The ambience was very nice relaxed and upscale without being too formal. The crowd was minimal, which made for a quiet dining experience. My server was polite. The steak itself was good, though not necessarily memorable for the price point. That said, this seems like a great spot for drinks at the bar especially if you’re already walking around The Wharf and looking for a place to unwind. Overall, I’d recommend this spot more for cocktails and atmosphere than for the food alone unless you’re really craving steak like I was.
The steak was amazing, but the half chicken was a bit on the dry side. If you cover your baked chicken with a lid or foil longer to soak all the juices is what makes it more tender. But if baked w no lid the whole time comes out dry. Or invest in a Rotisserie oven. But everything else and the drinks were amazing 4 star. And 5 star for service!
The Grill was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel and the meal was PHENOMENAL caramelized onion dip + homemade chips ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (I could eat a gallon of this!!) clam chowder ⭐⭐⭐⭐ house salad ⭐⭐⭐⭐ shrimp linguini with pesto cream ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (the homemade pasta tastes like Nonna's!!!) sorbet + ice cream flight ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (the vanilla bean ice cream was my favorite) Our server, Enrique, provided outstanding service with his warm personality and bright smile. He answered all our questions and really enjoyed a quiet, leisurely dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant space is beautiful and welcoming, plus the waterfront is spectacular at sunset!!!
Ordered: Mixed grill for 2 @79pp Highlights: deviled eggs, crab cake, sweet potato side Lamb skewers were a bit dry, Pineapple cake well executed, but not quite my thing Our waitress was wonderful, cadence of service was spot on. A pleasant surprise for the Wharf
Swung by for happy hour before a show at The Anthem and had a pleasant experience. The cocktails were delicious and we enjoyed the green beans appetizer. The bartender, Juan (I believe), was extremely knowable and let me try several types of Gin before ordering. Only disappointing thing is the hostess wouldn’t let us sit outside knowing that we were just there for drinks…I guess they reserve those seats for people who order entrees? Kind of a dumb policy especially on week nights when it’s not packed. Other than that, had a good experience and would definitely come back. Thanks for the delicious drinks, Juan!
Service: My party of 3 had a reservation for 9:15pm on 8/22. We were running slightly behind and gave a courtesy call. Upon arrival we were greeted politely and sat immediately. Our server was very attentive and informative. I wish I could remember her name to give her a shout out! Food: Delicious 😋! There wasn’t anything that I disliked. I gave a 4/5 only because I felt my steak and lobster could’ve used a tab bit more seasoning. Besides that, this one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. I could rave about that Caesar salad and calamari forever 🤤. Overall: would definitely return and would recommend!
4/5 because we did have to send a steak back but we would do 4.5 if we could. Justin was our server. Very sweet and super knowledgeable. All his recommendations were amazing! He was within my vision 90% of the time and very easy to talk to when we had an issue. Ask him for his drink recommendations for sure! When he said the licorice flavor of one was cut nicely by citrus he MEANT IT and I don't have any complaints! The food was great, lots of surprising mixes and flavors! The steak was tender and juicy but needed a little salt to be perfect. The seasonal chopped salad was amazing and there were different flavors in every bite and in the BEST WAY. I got it with skirt steak and it was great. The devilled eggs were a bit too rich for me but the single one I had was definitely a positive experience. The oysters were absolutely DELIGHTFUL!!! Lamb skewers we great with the tzatziki sauce and they weren't too filling as an app so you still have room for the main course. Overall the decor and staff were amazing and it was a great date night for us 🤗
Our visit to The Grill in Washington DC was nothing short of amazing! Located on the Wharf, the inviting atmosphere immediately set the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. While the waitstaff could use some improvement, the food made up for it. We were delighted by the delicious and impressively presented dishes. The menu had a great variety of options, catering to all tastes and preferences. Additionally, the restaurant was well-maintained and spotless, adding to the overall appeal. The location was convenient and easy to find, making it a great choice for anyone visiting the area. Overall, I highly recommend The Grill for anyone looking for a delicious meal in a welcoming atmosphere. Make sure to give their impressive dishes a try, and you won't be disappointed.
The service was exceptional, a solid 10/10. The atmosphere and location were also commendable. The drinks, especially the grill punch, were delightful. However, we encountered an issue with the skirt steak – while it looked and tasted great, it arrived a bit below room temperature, impacting our overall enjoyment. We mentioned it to our server, who kindly offered a free dessert for the inconvenience. The French fries were excellent, the side order of shrimp and crab cakes were good as well but the string beans were just okay; personally, I wouldn't order them again. On a positive note, the burger was quite good. Despite the minor setback with the steak, I would recommend giving this place a try.
Beautiful atmosphere, well decorated, and right on the water. Service was good, relatively quick and food was yummy. Enjoyed starting it off with deviled eggs (little spicy but good), as well as entrees including steak, salmon, and tuna (little over cooked). We also ordered a side of fries and green beans. Overall the food was good- really loved the crab cake and would go back.
I’ll give these guys a four. The salmon was pretty good. The roasted sweet potatoes were tart with caramelized tips and really tasty in one order but less cooked and a bit bland for another. The flourless chocolate cake was decent but kind of a brick. Their version of a manhattan was outstanding. Beer list was okay. No Pilsner on draft? The place looks chic and is comfortable. Good for a date. Lively for a group. Expensive.
I met up with a girl friend of mine who I haven't seen in months. We enjoyed the grill punch, while munching on spicy tuna bites and splitting the grill burger. The environment was quiet -- perfect for a girl friend date -- even romantic date. The staff were friendly...I would say they probably weren't as attentive even though the bar was pretty empty...though my friend and I were chatting up a storm. So many they didn't want to bother us. Overall, great experience. I would definitely go back for happy hour again.
The service was excellent and I was very happy with my waitress. The staff overall were very respectful and kind, and made me feel like a true lady with their kind treatment! I will say though, I am quite disappointed in how my steak turned out. I ordered a Petite Filet Mignon and had to send it back, it was not properly cooked to the desired temperature and I have a suspicion they might not have been temping their steaks like they should. My filet came out chewy and undercooked, and I have never had that issue, not even at a cheap Texas Roadhouse. For the price point, I’d expect them to make a better steak than roadhouse. I still appreciated every other course of my meal, and the only devastating factor was the main course.
I wasn't overly impressed with this place. We stopped in for brunch while visiting The Wharf area. 1st, the service is 5+ 🌟. The young waiter we had waited on us handed foot and treated us like royalty. I got the banana bread, and it was pretty bad. It was very dry even with the syrup, and then they had Globs of jam that just was so sweet if you got a large mouthful of it. It just wasn't very good. I did try one of the deviled eggs, which was pretty good. My buddy got a burger, and he said that it was just so so. The prices are pretty high even for the DC area, and the food does not equal the price. We even got a couple of the little cocktails, and those just had kind of a weird taste to him as well. It is a fancy place, and maybe some of their other entrees are much better, but unfortunately, what we had just didn't impress enough to overcome the prices to give this place another shot.
This place is okay, nothing exceptional, the price, lack of friendly service and slow service bring it down. Our waiter was pretty checked out, and incredibly slow with checking on us, I think we spent around 1.5 hours here. The menu is limited, which I prefer, but they really don’t do any of the dishes exceptionally. We had the chilled tomato soup (very tasty) filet mignon, skirt steak, and seafood linguini, which were all fine. The sour puss cocktail is unique and solid, beers are limited but we’re okay. $300 for 3 people definitely had us wanting more, and expected a bit higher caliber of service. I ended up getting sick later that night and threw up the tomato soup, I had nothing else to eat after, so assume something I ate here bothered me.
Visited for lunch on a Sunday afternoon at the recommendation of someone whose boyfriend lives in a condo at the Wharf. Overall a disappointing experience. I had a goat cheese, spinach, and tomato omelet. It was rubbery and overcooked with minimal filling. My husband had a cobb salad which he reported was good. My son, who has life threatening food allergies, was served a meal containing his allergen. We made sure to let the wait staff know when ordering. Our waitress assured us that she followed the proper procedures, but his meal arrived with a sauce with eggs on it. My 11 year old son noticed and we shared our concerns. It took awhile for them to figure it out and in the interim we were reassured that it did not contain eggs. We knew better and kept pressing. Finally the manager assisted us. She confirmed it most likely had eggs and remade the burger and comped it, which we appreciated. The outcome could have been very different if our son hasn't noticed. Outside of this mishap, this place had a lovely outdoor seating area, but the food wasn't great. With so many other options at the Wharf, Id skip this one. If you have food allergies, be safe and avoid!
I was very disappointed with my experience at The Grill. While we were seated quickly, the service throughout the meal was extremely poor. Our waitress took an unusually long time just to get our drink orders, brought out random plates (only some people at the table received them), and then finally took our food order. We had ordered appetizers (crab deviled eggs and fried calamari) but for some reason these didn’t arrive until the main meals came out, nearly 25 minutes later. To make matters worse, my wife’s meal was completely forgotten and had to be brought out separately after the rest of us were already eating. The food itself was underwhelming. The chicken sandwich lacked flavor and felt incomplete. I ordered a burger that came with an odd sweet spread that did not work at all. My son did enjoy his Caesar salad, but the lobster roll was practically inedible. No one at the table could eat it and I contemplated sending it back through by this pointed I just wanted to hurry up and leave. The only highlight of the meal was the herb French fries, which were actually quite good. The service did not improve as the meal went on. The waitress only returned to our table once (to bring my wife’s late meal) and after that, we waited an unnecessarily long time for our check. I am not sure that the check was correct or not but after over an hour and 15 minutes I was ready to leave. The atmosphere was great though and I enjoyed the decor and vibe of the place, however, that was about it. Overall, between the poor service, multiple mistakes, and disappointing food, this was not a positive dining experience. With so many excellent restaurants in Washington, D.C., I would recommend trying somewhere else.
