Had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner at Via Sophia. On this night, they only were doing their prix fixe menu (I believe). It was four courses for $69, which I thought was pretty good. The ambiance was beautiful yet simple. The staff were nice and the service was good. Wasn’t big fan of the ahi tuna (this was my first time ever having ahi tuna). It just wasn’t for me. The truffle risotto and shortrib tortellini was SOOOOO GOOD! Literally a 10/10. We wished the portions were bigger because it was that delicious. I’d definitely come back for those. The NY strip and halibut were good but didn’t wow us. For dessert, we tried the budino and tiramisu. The budino was good but the tiramisu was absolutely delicious. We also really enjoyed their drinks.
The Italian food is very well prepared, especially the linguine with clams. The portion were abundant. There are variety of beers. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and spacious.
We had a fantastic dinner at Via Sophia! We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and the service was amazing. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great, with each of us ordering something different from the menu, and every dish was delicious and full of flavor. It was clear that the chef had put thought and care into each dish. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Via Sophia, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.
Incredible restaurant! The food was amazing and the service was amazing as well. I visited here on a whim after a different restaurant turned us away. The staff was inviting and we also stayed 29 minutes past closing time talking. We were having such a nice time we were unaware 😂 and the staff was nice in letting us know it was time to go. I would definitely recommend the chicken parm (just know that it has pork on it).
Delicious food, fantastic service and great atmosphere. It was a great meeting place. Pizza oven is a great focal point of the decor. It wasn’t too loud so we were able to hold a conversation with our whole table.
I had to check out Via Sophia's Hanami at the Hamilton Cherry Blossom Three-Course Menu! It's absolutely beautiful. The decor and ambiance really just sets the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Service was very quick and we even got to meet Chef Silva, who told us all about the menu. $49pp +$25pp for beverage pairing: First Course HOTEL TANGO CHERRY POACHED PEAR Aged Balsamic, Citrus Oil, Goat Cheese, Shiso Cherry Royale Second Course VENISON OSSOBUCCO Polenta Mascarpone, Morello, Miso-Braised Fennel 2021 Coppa | Camp du Rouss Nebbiolo Barbera D'Asti / IT Third Course CHERRY STRACCIATELLA SEMIFREDDO Amaretto, Candied Orange Peel, Cocoa Nibs House-made Cherrycello I would definitely go back again!
So, I write reviews and I maintain 100 percent honesty and unbiased when writing them. First off, I started with a Double Cherry Old Fashioned, it was smack dead center of sweet and smooth. The drink was honestly amazing. We settled on a Margherita Pizza, and absolutely loved it. It was truly amazing for a pizza. I got a second drink to polish off the palette, and settled on the house red. It truly was amazing to say the least! We had a great bartender and if I could give a rating it would be 11 out of 10. Thomas was probably one of the best bartenders and tour guides behind a bar forsure. His drinks are not only the best, but he was just a genuine class A kind of guy. I truly hope the bar realizes the value of a guy like Thomas. SO, IT IS A MUST, STOP BY HERE FOR A DRINK AND A SMALL BITE!!!!! IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!! I truly cannot preach it enough, just give it a try. P.S. I apologize I did not take a picture of my first cocktail, but it was beautiful and tasted amazing.
Really great food and service. Nothing too pricey and the food was delicious and filling. We got two pizzas, calamari, arrancini, and tiramisu. Service was quick and friendly. Loved our experience!
Had an absolute blast here on Christmas! The atmosphere was festive and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. What made the experience even more special was the personal holiday greeting from the Miss Madagascar restaurant manager, which truly showed how much she cares about the guests. Everything was perfect and made our Christmas celebration unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Our waitress, Magenta, was beyond excellent. She provided great suggestions and didn't seem to mind taking the time to spend time with us. The espresso martini was small, but mighty. The whole experience was well worth staying in for the evening. And did I mention the tiramisu? It was phenomenal!
Amazing dinner. The autumn salad, calamari salad, and mussels were all on point. We really enjoy the super fresh branzino with olive oil, olives, and fresh tomatoes. Lastly, we topped it off the with zeppole and ice cream. Service was perfect. Thank you for a memorable evening.
Had a fun time here, went with some work, colleagues and ordered appetizers and dinner. A variety of pizzas and entrées. Start off with the grilled octopus and a glass of Chardonnay. The Chardonnay was excellent. The grilled octopus was overcooked and chewy and drenched in mushy olives, the absolutely overpowered the flavor of the octopus. Honestly, one of the worst pieces of octopus I’ve had. we ordered pizzas. I had the margarita pizza which was honestly excellent. I would get it again again. The Chardonnay also. Other members of our party had the duck and one of the spicier pizzas which was honestly so spicy we couldn’t even eat it. We had a little bit of trouble getting our water refilled, and no one ever asked me if I wanted a second glass of wine. I’ll forgive them though because the pizza was that good. They also got our party of eight seated fairly quickly without a reservation, which honestly was a miracle. The atmosphere in here was excellent and it would be a very cute date spot. I just recommend focusing on the pizza and drinks.
Went for late lunch/happy hour around 3pm. Food was very good, fresh and came out hot, portions were great for the price. Chicken wings excellent, friend gnocchi very good, and buratta was good. Wasn’t super happy with the service. They kind of forgot about me though. I had to waive down the server after waiting 7-10 minutes. But I think the GM was there and didn’t really do much but stand and chat. Not 100% it was the GM but it was someone who worked there and I got supervisor vibes. Also, server dragged feet when moving around which I found a tad bothersome.
We had the 3 course meal which was a bit expensive for the portion sizes, especially since that was the only menu offered that day. I was also disappointed with the lack of Vegetarian options on the 3-course menu. The dessert, Chocolate Budino was too strong and needed more Caramel or Peanut Butter to mellow it a little. On the plus side, the customized pasta and the salad was delicious. The service was really good as well.
The food was very good, (can totally taste the difference with fresh made pasta), but the service was lacking (forgot my appetizer, no check back during the meal). The tiramisu was good but a tiny piece for the price.
Please note I am giving Via Sophia a solid 3.5/5 rating. I went for brunch with a friend yesterday. I had really high hopes but left disappointed. Here are my pros and cons! Pros: I absolutely loved the atmosphere. It was giving chic, modern and contemporary. It was a total vibe! You get your own personal carafe when you order bottomless mimosas... And it's only $15!!!! I live for bottomless mimosas and this is the most inexpensive pricing I've seen in the DMV as of late. Our server was nice and personable. Cons: I felt that my food left much to be desired. I ordered the Avocado "Toast" Pizza. It was pretty bland in my opinion. I also would have expected more avocados as opposed to just 4 slices. Their tiramisu which is one of my favorite desserts was also just OK. Keep in mind Via Sophia is still in the process of figuring out their brunch since they just started offering it a week ago. All in all, it's still a vibe. If anything, the bottomless mimosas are totally worth it!
We were seated quickly right on time with our reservation. We sat in the patio with perfect weather. The food was yummy I had the NY Strip and subbed the broccolini for the asparagus and my husband ordered the Nordic Cod. Recommend both dishes. The three stars are for the service. We waited quite a while for drinks and never asked for refills on our alcoholic beverages and never received them. We only saw our waiter when we ordered and when we received our check and would have really like to have had dessert and more drinks but we’re so annoyed at the lack of service we decided to have drinks and dessert somewhere else. Go for the food it is very good, and try sitting inside you may get better service.
We were intrigued by their $15 bottomless brunch and decided to give it a try. There is an option for a prefix menu which is $39 and you pick one item from each section, plus an additional $15 for bottomless mimosas. The other option is to pick one item from the pizza or brunch entrees plus the $15 for bottomless mimosas. The prefix would be best if you’re in the mood for more food. If you prefer just one entree then the second option is best. I ordered the Finnochiona pizza which has sausage, caramelized onions, confit fennel, bufala mozzarella and chili flakes. It does not have the typical tomato pizza sauce. It was ok, I think the caramelized onions made it too sweet and I wish there was more sausage. Other dishes my friends got were the shrimp and grits, via burger, BEC, avocado toast pizza, and eggs Benedict. Most people liked their dishes, but nothing really stood out as amazing. For bottomless mimosas, our waiter was really good with bringing more as we finished, however they weren’t that strong. Finally for dessert they have two options, tiramisu or the budino. I got the tiramisu. A good way to end the meal. Overall it was a good brunch, didn’t think anything stood out for me to come back, but it was a fun experience.
I came here for Valentine’s Day. Via Sophia had a special menu for Valentine’s worth $69 per person plus tax, tips, and drinks. Food was really well thought out and very tasty, and the drinks were amazing. Service was very poor. The portions were very small. All attendees left hungry and not filled with the portions of the plates, even though it was four courses. When we mentioned this to the host who came by our table at the end, they made an out of touch and inappropriate joke and didn’t really acknowledge the fact that we were giving feedback about the experience. During one of the courses, a plate was confused between our table and another table, and the waitress changed the plates that were already served on both tables. I didn’t appreciate or liked that as I don’t know what happened to that plate while it was on the other table. Moreover, some of the cutlery was badly washed and had to return it for it to be exchanged. Shortly after, we received the desserts and immediately were given the check, which I thought was rude as we haven’t even started to eat and the restaurant wasn’t closing at any time soon. I just wanted to leave at that point. I give a 8/10 to the food, but a 2/10 to the service.
Edited: fraudulent transaction. The contrast is killing me. Our server was awful and was rude throughout the evening. On the other hand, the manager was super nice and even poured us a little extra wine. The decor and atmosphere are nice and beautiful, but the food was really average (except for the bread, that was delicious). Update: The server we had ended up charging a larger amount of gratuity - no idea why she felt (1) entitled for more than what we tipped, and (2) the need to increase her gratuity against our will and fraudulently enter a different amount in the system. That's literally illegal. And we had to call the restaurant multiple times to get them to reverse the charge (they still haven't issued a refund, what a racket!)
