Great local place with delicious food and homemade ice cream and ices at low prices and big portions. Daily specials that would surprise you including corned beef and cabbage! Regular menu includes hot dogs, burgers, fish fry, homemade fries, etc.

To be honest I've only ever been here once and had one ice cream cone so the five star review is based on that one experience and the fact that they had the friendliest service around. I've learned that friendly service is not something people take pride in around the capital region so I really appreciate it when places in the service industry actually pride themselves on service. I will be back!

Macs is a great treat when it’s nice and hot, it’s good to take ur children there great service but some time long of a wait. Overall is really good nice and clean. Walked in to the wonderful scent of homemade waffle cones being made on premises by "Nana." They were helpful and patient with my little guy (autism, difficulty communicating what he wants sometimes) and all three kids really loved their desserts. Nana even came out to suggest that my little guy might have an easier time with a shorter cup as he was struggling with the large one. We had fun playing foosball and playing on the coin-op rides too. There's also a playground across the street if your young ones get rambunctious. Great place, good food, nice people, not expensive at all.

Mac's has some of the best homemade ice cream, period. The soft serve raspberry is fantastic, but really all their ice cream is. The grill has some tasty food and a perfect environment inside or out to enjoy your meal. Set in a quiet neighborhood, Mac's is a gem of Watervliet and one you definitely need to visit if you're in the area!

Went today and had the best double cheeseburgers I’ve had in a long time and the fried dough with soft serve was incredible. The service was friendly and welcoming too.

Hidden gem of Watervliet. Best brown burger of the capital region, hands down. And they serve Ice-cream. Price is dirt cheep, quality is surprisingly amazing, staff is great. This is a seasonal place though. When it opens, get your grease on as much as possible. Before you know it, they're closed again.

Nice local ice cream spot. Their soft serve is super smooth and creamy. Good portions for the cost. Got a chance to chat with one of the owners when we stopped by. She was super friendly and very knowledgeable about all the details of what makes great soft serve and very knowledgeable about allergen info. They make all of their own ice cream with raw ingredients and it's obvious they have a passion for what they do. We will definitely continue visiting Mac's

We stumbled upon Mac’s when we were killing time before an event. Have tried numerous places for ice cream in the area but this place has risen to the top of our favorites. This review is solely about their Italian Ice and Sorbet. I can’t speak to the rest of the delicious-sounding menu. The homemade lemon ice is really good but even better is the creamy delicious homemade mango sorbet. We are huge fans!! I want some now! Doesn’t this photo make you want to go get some now? It should! You should!

I no longer live in the area. Has been more than a year since I have been there, but I thought they deserved a review. This was my favorite ice cream on the planet. The best home made ice cream in the world. I would order the mint chocolate chip, and it was so creamy and delicious, the chocolate chips so unique-large chips! Hearty portion and reasonably priced. Pleasant service and nice, peaceful atmosphere.

Love this place! Wish it was open all year round! It's great if you don't have a lot of money and want to take your kids to play on the rides. There is also a park right nearby if you don't have the money for the rides, which are just quarter operated kiddie rides. They also have a great vegetarian burger and awesome hot dogs. Quality food and delicious ice cream at affordable prices.

Cute mom and pop food and icecream place. The lady that helped me was very nice and helpful due to my gluten allergy! They do have gluten free ice cream cones so that's what made me stop there! I ended up trying to figure out if there was any food I could have. She was helpful in suggesting grilled chicken and I did hand cut fries but they are contaminated in the oil. I went for it anyway. I havent been sick so thats cool! She even said leave a message or facebook us and let me know if it makes you sick or not! That is quality service! Only thing I suggest is getting a gluten free bun or food choice and if have the option to get a dedicated fryer. And I say this to all places so no signaling out here! I totally recommend!

We went here on a late Sunday night. You order at the window and there are cute plenty of seating areas outside. I believe the owner or manager was there training a new employee we were there. He was nice and patient with us. Service was good. We thought the ice cream were hit or miss.

Been here a few times since moving to the area. Ice cream is delicious and portion sizes are reasonable for the price. However, the last time I was there, there was nobody at the window to take my order, just some gentleman standing in the back that seemed to be busy and didn't have a care for looking to see if there was a customer waiting. So I just left.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich was "okay"...needed to be grilled more. Hand-cut fries were better than regular fries. Neither were greasy! Friendly staff! Service was fast! Prices were good!! Couldn't eat outside because of little flying green bugs. 😣

I loved this place last year, it was a summer time favorite for our office to order lunch from. Today we were a bit disappointed, we ordered burgers, fries and a couple mac salads for pick up. We brought the order back to our office and realized there were no mac salads, no biggie mistakes happen. We called and we told them we were missing the two mac salads, they apologized and let us know we weren't charged on the original order. I went back to grab the missing salads, the women behind the counter was very nice and again apologized for the missing salad. I gave her $5 which should be enough to cover the two salads at $2.25 each. She told me the cost was $5.50, not sure where that price came from but I didn't argue. She then game me the two salads in a bag to go, when I got back to the office we were very disappointed when I saw the very small portions we were given. In the past we would be able to split one order of salad between two people and this time the two orders combined were insignificant, not at all what we experienced last year. We'll give this place another shot but I hope this was not a taste of whats to come.

Macs is a small little food and ice cream shop in Watervliet NY. It's turned into a bit of a local summer staple but it seems to be going down hill fast. We go every summer and tonights food was awful. The hot dogs were warm, and the meat sauce tasted like it sat out all day, and was a congealed grossness. The ice cream serving sizes are back to their original sizes (new ownership had severely shrunken them, resulting in angry returning customers.) So that's a plus. What makes Mac's cute is the games and rides for the kiddos. Sadly 2 of 3 games didn't work. Also, they only accept cash which is annoying at best, and they also dontd have a change machine for the games/rides, so you have to wait in line for change. Lines can exceed 30min, so this gets old fast. Tonight the owner came out to check on all the tabelt, which is good customer service. But he then lit up a cigarello and walked around the kids rides picking up napkins and garbage. Sorry, but dontd light up around kids, especially as uoywalk through and past them. Overall, food is ok, ice cream is ok, and prices aren't that low. What used to be a four star is now hovering vloser to one.

It’s the middle of Summer, and it’s beautiful outside. It’s been a long wait for summer to begin and to do things outside. So I went to Mac’s for a quick cone after mowing all day. When I walked up to the Mac’s Ice Cream window, a sign was posted on that window that said, “please come inside”. ??? No, I thought to myself, why go inside when there’s two windows at the Ice Cream Shop to serve from. So I left.

Come for the ice cream but do not come for the food. The fries were never cooked all the way through and the cheese and meat sauce isn’t good(mac fries). The Mac burger is disgusting. I had better burgers from Stewart’s. Ice cream is a yes but the food itself is horrible. Avoid that at all costs. I paid $25 for this and I regret it.

Paid $6.75 for a sundae which was half of scoop of ice cream disguised with a lot of whipped cream. A shame.

They told to come on down and they would give me a mac salad but they did not. Why dod you waste my time and my gas?

Your business really needs to step up, especially selling mostly ice cream. I just spent at least 20 minutes waiting in line with just one person in front of me to place an order, then when they did get it it was to go and I’d say without exaggeration 1 item came out of the window every 5 minutes, for a total of 3. poor customer service and very slow service . Hopefully people read this and go somewhere else for a more pleasant ice cream experience.

This place went down hill fast. Smaller portions bigger prices rude untrained staff. Owner walks around smoking and glowering at his customers. He yells at kids in park to stay away from his property. Been going there for years. Tried a couple of times as did other regular family members. Stewarts here we come. We will be back when Tom Nana and the crew and real menu are. Booooo

I've been coming here for 8 years. What the hell happened this year?? I didn't get enough French fries or mac salad in my order to feed a bird. It was freezing out, but was even colder inside. I wanted soup, only to be told that they're not selling it anymore. No more of the old cooks delicious dinner specials either. What a disappointment

Ice cream and food used to be top notch, new owners took over a couple of year ago and now it’s a travesty. The ice cream is gummy and loaded with ice crystals and the “hand cut fries” were cold, sad looking with one plop of cheese. Some place we use to frequent, and we tried again but now we know ilia wasn’t a fluke, it’s just not good anymore.

We went there today to get a ice cream cone, I asked for a soft coffee cone, small. I think they gave me a kiddie cone I never saw one this small and the girl charged me 4.98. I was totally shocked at the size, we use to go there all the time, I will never go back, the size of the cone and the price I could of bought a half gallon at Stewart's. I will never go back

First time coming here was told the ice cream sundae’s were big. Nope very small. My husband ordered banana split there were no bananas in it he ordered pistachio ice cream it was sour tasting. My son ordered extra Carmel which I paid for and there was no Carmel on his. Definitely will not come here again for what we paid we should have got what we ordered and was told about size. Go to snowman’s Spend the same amount, order same thing and actually get what we ordered. Angry 😡

Rip offs. I gave them a 20 to pay for my icecream and they said I only gave them a 5 dollar bill. Which I’m 100% sure is wrong. Instead of admitting their mistake they were disrespectful and don’t cooperate. Guptills is better anyways. To reply to what they responded: if you actually checked the cameras you’d know it was a man not a woman. Be a professional business and don’t lie!

I visited the other day while doing laundry at Scrubbles laundrymat. I ordered 2 hot dogs and hand cut fries. The meat sauce resembled a gravy sauce and was disgusting looking. It had no taste and I was immediately unable to eat my food. I spent 9 bux and when I asked the counter person to please give me 2 new hot dogs she was rude and when she handed them to me rudely shoved them toward me and said here are two plain hot dogs thank you. She didn't even ask me if I wanted any mustard or relish or anything for them. I will never return here again. Meat sauce is not usually a gravy and it looked repulsive.
