Bottom line: This is a top tier spot for the Albany area, and is well priced for the amount and quality of food they serve. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time if dining there at peak hours. We stopped by on a whim and could not be happier with our meal. The menu selections are a breath of fresh air, with a delightful mix of interesting, new-to-Albany items to try. The calamari appetizer was executed perfectly— light, airy breading with perfectly tender filling. The best we’ve had in recent memory. The seafood Tacu Tacu (pictured with the flower) is a chef specialty, and is a layer of risotto-like rice, topped with a crispy pan fried fish and bits of mixed seafood swimming in a creamy sauce. This is a very well made dish, and can still be improved with a little more acidity (touches of lime? chimichurri dots?) The ribeye (medium rare as pictured) is your generously-sized meat-and-potatoes entree, seasoned with a south American twist and served with four kinds of protein, plus rice and fries … all on the same plate. It even comes with perfectly cooked ripe plantains, alongside an incredible cup of chimichurri that elevates everything it touches. The only drawback is that this restaurant might not be quite ready for peak rushes; When several tables arrived at the same time, the staff wasn’t quite able to keep pace and many tables were left waiting for some time in between each step of their meal. We recommend aiming for off peak hours, or allowing yourself plenty of time to relax and let the kitchen work its magic. Overall, if the kitchen can keep up its current quality as it scales in popularity, this will become one of the top Capital Region food spots — we are so happy to have the chance to enjoy this spot at its infancy.
This is a very nice place! My son and I loved the tostones, empanadas, churros, and flan. Our server was great, and the atmosphere was inviting! We will definitely return.
This is what the capital region needed for a long time! The food, the decor, the service and the cocktails were all fantastic. As an Ecuadorian who loves Peruvian food, this was my first time here and has now become my favorite restaurant. The ají Amarillo ceviche was excellent, had the perfect blend of citrus, salt and spicy level. It is a must of its your first time trying Peruvian food. The jalea de mariscos, is the perfect compliment to a ceviche. Has a shareable size of perfectly deep fried seafood, fish and crunchy yet soft yucca! Very yummy. The ají de gallina, a staple at a hispanic home, it was perfect. Not too creamy or greasy, their food is excellent! Will 100% come back!
Quechua is an authentic Peruvian restaurant that is a great addition to the area. The menu has a great and varied selection of dishes. Everything we tried was executed perfectly and service was fantastic. We got there early on Saturday for lunch. We were the first ones there at 12 but the dining room quickly filled up by the time we were done with our meal. This place is a must try. The ceviche is fresh, the rice dishes were hearty and delicious and there were some very unique looking items in the menu we'll definitely be back to try!
Food was fabulous! Absolutely blown away by the flavor, service and the variety of Peruvian food. I’ve had Peruvian food before and I myself am Ecuadorian and can honestly say that this was very authentic and then some. Like great flavor, so the chef has an incredible amount of skill. Highly recommend!!! Ambiance is great as well, nice and cozy.
Excellent food and service! We shared a crab Causas and were very happy with that choice. It’s both beautiful and delicious. Our waiter, Jason, was extremely knowledgeable and helped us navigate through the menu. I had the Tacu Tacu a Lo Macho, and my companions had a beef dish and a tempura seafood dish. Both were very pleased with their meals. The food is all beautifully plated and exceptionally delicious. For dessert, I had the Flan and was not disappointed. The Peruvian cookies are perfect if you want something that is authentic but not overly sweet. Don’t let the shabby parking throw you off. The inside is beautiful, fresh, and newly decorated. We will definitely return!
What a pleasant hip restaurant. Servers Amiyah and Ellen were very friendly and helpful with the menu. And the food! Que sabroso! Reminded me of travels through Peru 20 years ago. We loved the fresh Aji and Rocoto based sauces! The Sopa de Pollo was huge and delicious. Loved the rice pudding and galletas with manjar. We also appreciated the quiet but authentic guitar music in the background.
If you want the best Peruvian food in town, get to Quechua immediately. On a busy Friday the experience was flawless considering how busy it was. Our server Amiyah was excellent and very attentive making the evening more memorable The Standouts: * The Ceviche: Remarkably fresh roccoto and was perfectly balanced—bright, zesty, and addictive, and with that corn! So fire * Fried Red Snapper: A masterpiece of textures. The skin was incredibly crispy, while the fish remained light and flaky. * The Flan: Pure silk. It’s rich, smooth, and the caramel sauce is world-class.
The server made us feel comfortable navigating an unfamiliar cuisine offering great recommendations! We enjoyed everything but especially loved the ceviche & calamari platter. Next time we’d order that as a meal!
I highly recommend giving this place a try! The food was amazing and the portions were generous for the price. I got the paella and could not stop eating it (even well after my stomach begged me to stop). The waitress was very polite and seemed passionate about her job. She gave excellent recommendations for the food. The ambiance was quiet with dim lighting. It wasn't too noisy and made for a great evening out with a friend!
my first time visiting and it was amazing!! not only was our server so sweet, so was the rest of the staff! i’ve been looking for a good peruvian spot in the capital region for so long and i will definitely be back. the ceviche was so good that it tasted just like my abuelo’s and everything we ordered just tasted so authentic and reminded me so much of my family. can’t wait to visit again :)
So very good! There were four people total at my table and I tried everything on the table basically. I got the BEST thing, the red snapper called sudado de pescado which was like a soup with rice on the side. So flavorful with onions and plantains and pepper (but not spicy) in the soup and we got sushi and a platter of three different ceviches which was so good. Every plate you get will have a bunch of secondary things on it that are fun and make a huge amount of variety on your table as a whole. The service was excellent. Alex was one of our servers not sure which was which they were both great! Also, try the purple corn drink
I am bummed I discovered this just days before I am leaving to move across the country because I just had one of the best Mojitos. The last one I had this good was at a jazz club in Manhattan over two decades ago. For that alone, I would recommend trying them out. While there was a fresh line in there, there was also a dried/charred lime as garnish. It was perfection. For dinner, I got the ceviche trio and it was amazing. Everything was amazing and I highly recommend checking them out.
Totally blown away for my first time eating at this restaurant. When my uncles invited me and said it was Peruvian food, I said "what the heck is Peruvian food!?" To my absolute pleasure, it is delicious. The ceviche was the best I've ever had. Completely unique and flavorful sauces, fresh seafood and creative combinations! I order a snapper dish for my entree which was also incredible. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals equally. I can't wait to get back for more!!! We sat outside on their patio which was nice- but the noise from the highway right across the street was annoying at times. Service was by no means quick, but it was 100% worth the wait. Our server knew the menu inside and out and had no problem explaining it to us. We were very thankful that he did!
Let me tell ya something. This restaurant is amazing. The food and the drinks were outstanding. Brought my lady out on a date here and we're definitely coming back. She got the Chupe De Camarones, a yummy shrimp dish and Tacu Tacu cilantro lamb stew. I got fried calamari, chicken soup and ceviche nikki. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was also attentive and professional. We ended up giving the guy ( waiter Alex ) a $20 tip. Sundays are there slow days, making it the best day to check them out. Overall a great spot to definitely check out.
This place has legitimately good Peruvian food. I’ve spent a year in Peru and this place has amazing food! The service was wonderful and the each dish was delicious! Would definitely go there again. Go support this local gem of a restaurant!

Tried the Trio of Ceviches, all three were amazing. We liked the Classic the most because it had the most flavor, it was spicy and had a great amount of lime. The sweet potato adds a fantastic bit of something different. The Asado Cirollo was absolutely amazing. I'd never had Ani Panca before, buts it's wonderful, highly recommend this to anyone that likes a very flavorful pot roast. Cannot wait to come back!
I have been eager to try this new restaurant since they announced their opening last year and it was well worth the wait. The Tacu Tacu sirloin steak was full of flavor and the Arroz con Mariscos had a generous amount of seafood. I would like to remind readers that this is a brand new restaurant, which means that the staff and kitchen are still trying to figure out their flow, so try to be understanding. Non the less, everyone was friendly and the ambiance is very welcoming. Will definitely be returning.
This was our first time here & man what an absolute gem this place is!! This was our first Peruvian restaurant & the food was out of this world good!! The service is also top notch, our server was super friendly, knowledgeable & very attentive!! The atmosphere is great & the decor is also!! I'll say if you haven't been here run don't walk, it's phenomenal!!
I was so excited to see a Peruvian restaurant in the capital region! The server told us the next closest Peruvian restaurant is hours away in Utica. I grabbed a bunch of friends for a weeknight dinner and we had a fabulous time. First, there is a parking lot though it was quite busy/ crowded so I ended up parking on the street in front which was manageable. I was so happy to see the restaurant was full on a Thursday at 6 pm! Our server was absolutely outstanding! She was so sweet, enthusiastic about the menu and her job, and extremely attentive to the food allergies of my friend's 4 year old son who joined us. She carefully monitored what was happening in the kitchen and even asked them to remake his food when she noticed a risk for allergy cross-contamination. The menu was enormous, only to be outdone by how big the portions were! The food was fresh, delicious, and authentic. The piscos and other cocktails were beautiful and delicious, and expertly blended! My only warning is that the service was slow, likely related to how busy the restaurant was. The server was wonderful in updating us on the status of our meals, which is all you can really ask for when the kitchen is backed up! All in all, this is definitely a gem in our area, and a place I'll be happy to revisit again soon. I wish them success and longevity! Next time if the weather allows I want to dine on the waterfront patio!
Wow where am i in Queens!??? lol sorry Cap region you have disappointed me (except for Ali Baba, Great Indian Kitchen, Mazadar, Shams Al Yemen). The Leche Tigre is amazing perfect seasoning, delicious flavor, love the small plantain chips the crispy corn and white corn, octopus cooked perfectly tender well season and wow, never had beef heart and it was amazing almost like skirt steak and the chimichurri sauce bomb damn makes me sad that I'm leaving now but definitely will be back when in the area! Wonderful service by Adalia & football player in the front!
This is an authentic Peruvian restaurant with an exquisite and extensive menu. Stopped for lunch today and the food exceeded our expectations! I grew up in Peru and can tell you is like eating in Peru! We order the street ceviche with fried calamari, empanadas and anticuchos! Everything was delicious and beautifully served. Staff is very friendly too. They even had chicha morada! ( drink made from purple corn) so good! We highly recommend this place! We needed a good Peruvian restaurant in the capital region! So glad about Quechua opening its doors!
If you're looking for authentic and exceptional Peruvian food in the Albany area, Quechua Restaurant is truly the best! Every dish is prepared with incredible quality and flavor — you can taste the authenticity and the passion behind each bite. The service is outstanding: warm, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is just as impressive, with beautiful decorations that transport you straight to Peru, and music that adds the perfect touch to the experience. From start to finish, dining at Quechua is a celebration of Peruvian culture and cuisine. Highly recommend — a true gem in Albany!

Here’s a polished version of your review while keeping the enthusiasm and authenticity: ⸻ Wow! As a Peruvian, I can confidently say that Quechua Restaurant truly makes me feel like I’m back in Peru. The food goes beyond any expectations—it’s an authentic culinary experience that showcases why Peru is known as one of the best food destinations in the world. The classic ceviche is incredibly fresh and simply unmatched—no other place even comes close! I also had the pleasure of trying three other amazing dishes: • Pescado a lo macho – absolutely outstanding! • Ají de gallina – spectacularly rich and flavorful. • Arroz chaufa con mariscos – the best seafood fried rice you’ll find anywhere! A huge thank you to Chef Miguel for bringing this incredible food to the area. If you’re looking for truly authentic Peruvian cuisine, Quechua is the best place to go in all of New York State. The food, service, hospitality, and atmosphere are all top-notch. Highly recommended! Carlos Herrero
Incredible!!!! The food was amazing!! From the appetizer to the drinks and the food. Highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back. I had the duck and rice!!! And Omgosh!!! The menu had great options and the flavor of the food I cannot wait to come back and try the goat stew !! Nice job to the team and thank you.
First timer. Enjoyed it from parking to dessert. Jason was our waiter and he elevated the experience with his knowledge and passion for the menu. Excellent and a must experience.
Excellent food. So cool to have a Peruvian, even if I miss Teta Marias. The Tacu tacu was delicious- (vegetarian dish made with canary beans, rice, spices). Huge menu. Large crisp Empanadas stuffed full with Sirloin & spices . Nice staff . Food served a bit cooler than I like but everything is clearly made with fresh, with care, attention to detail, creative presentation. We will be back.
I wish I took pictures of the food because it was so beautiful but you’ll just have to believe me. It was also soooo delicious. Some of the best food I’ve had in the area in awhile. We had an octopus appetizer and it was so tender and came in this delicious sauce with avocado and tomato. I got the raw fluke in a citrusy pepper sauce with sweet potato and Peruvian corn and it was mind blowing. I had it for lunch again today and it was just as good. My mom had a cooked red snapper that came with rice, mussels and calamari in a creamy pepper sauce and it was also AMAZING. I will definitely be back for the food but ALSO what they did with the interior is so nice. They’ve created such a nice atmosphere in there and our waiter was so kind. He even let us believe we pronounced our dishes correctly when ordering when there’s no way we did. 😅
There is finally an excellent Peruvian restaurant in the Capital Region! If you have never had Peruvian food before, get ready to discover world cuisine’s best kept secret! Whatever you like, they have you covered. Whether you’re feeling like seafood, a good steak, Chinese, Japanese, sushi, pasta, you’ll find something you love at Quechua. Peruvian cuisine is a fusion of Latin, Asian, African, and European cuisine cooked with a unique Peruvian style. The ceviche - amazing. The lomo saltado was fantastic! The sudado de pescado was perfect. We can’t wait to come back for more of the classics. We were eyeing the tiradito options as well, but you can only eat so much at once! The food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere at Quechua are fantastic. We’re sure to go back again and again.
The food was very good, we enjoyed it very much. We had an appetizer and two entrees and the bill came to $94 with tax. The waiter was very nice but he seemed inexperienced and very quiet. My dinner came out barely warm and had to be returned while my spouse's seafood meal was hot and excellent. Also, I will say that I wasn't crazy about the seat they reserved for us. There were several available tables for the entire time we were there and we got seated next to the kitchen door. Overall the food was good and I would recommend Quechua even with the few glitches.
Incredibly delicious food! We had the Tacu Tacu with Cilantro Lamb stew and the duck breast with rice and were absolutely blow away. Everything was richly flavored, and portions were generous and presented well.
It was a wonderful experience. Its cute and cozy hole in the wall kind of spot. Great home cook food and drink options. Staff was friendly. Great presentation on food and flavorful. We were a group of 3. I'd def recommend and visit again.
The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The Lomo Saltado was one of the best I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The ceviche was also fresh and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
This restaurant was a recommendation by a friend of mine from Columbia that lives in the upstate region now. He was spot on, this fine establishment is everything most places either should be or hope to be. The food, service, staff, are outstanding. Peruvian dishes, some having a degree of influence by Japanese cuisine.
I was so happy that this peruvian restaurant open, I was waiting for so long I wanted to take my mom to eat here and she loves it but she was surprised As well. The atmosphere was nice and wonderful! The food was fantastic, great taste and presentation was amazing! I can't wait to go back! Our waiter Jose S. Was amazing, calm, nice and shy. Hope to see him again! Thanks for our meal
Food was delicious and authentic! Service was great and server was very attentive. Would definitely recommend.
My partner and I recently dined at Quechua, and had a fantastic experience! They opened just three days ago, and you can tell how well thought out everything is and the love that was put into the establishment. We had the causa, ceviche, and lomo saltado—the food was fresh and full of flavor. The service was top-notch, and the owner even came over at the end to ask how everything was. I had nothing but positive feedback and we will definitely be returning.
I had the best time at my first visit! The food was delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I definitely plan to come back again soon!
Great Peruvian food with huge portions! The chicha morada was especially good.
Quechua adds a great dining option to the Capital Region! We had the calamari, leche de tigre, and the ceviche sampler. The food is so fresh and flavorful. We also had a few cocktails, and they were creative and delicious. The servers were friendly and helpful and it is cute inside. Can’t wait to go back!
As you enter, you are warmly welcomed with smiling faces. Gianni was our wonderful server! We ordered many delicious appetizers to sample as it was our first time. Gianni presented me with a birthday cake and sang in his operatic voice. We will return.
My favorite place. I took my girl friend here and she loved it too. My whole fam comes here. Definitely recommend. And everyone is so sweet and attentive even when it’s busy. Food made fresh everytime it’s just amazing
The menu explores the fascinating influence of Asian cuisine on traditional Peruvian classics, with quite an array of appetizers and main courses. Generous servings, very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely have to return multiple times to try more of their offerings!
I can’t wait to come back to try more of the dishes! The food is authentic and delicious. Our server, Jason, enhanced the experience due to his knowledge and passion in describing the dishes. Great restaurant
This place is insanely good! Easily one of the best meals I’ve eaten all year. I regret not snapping pics of our food - I usually don’t, because it’s often hard to do justice to the plating, but like, even a boomer zooming in on an iPad would have taken gorgeous pics of the dishes here because they were that beautifully arranged. I basically gasped when the mussels came out. Not to mention the absolute flavor explosion in every bite, perfect mix of textures and temperatures. And super fresh food. And slamming sauces! Will one hundred percent be back many times this summer to eat on the cute little back deck (pictured!)
this was the first time for us but will not be the last. I will start with the cons. I use a walker and it was not too easy to get in but that is outweighed by the very high quality of food on the menu, the excellent service from a waitress who explained everything and made suggestions as well. I had Red Snapper which was cooked off the bone and surrounded by a mildly spicy sauce, shrimps, calamari, rice and more. Portions were large and we all had something to take home. For appetizers we had Peruvian corn served with a wedge of cheese, and a great sauce to dip the corn and the cheese into. Sorry we were all filled up before the dessert menu arrived. Give it a try.
Awesome spot to dive into Peruvian cuisine through the recommendations of the knowledgeable servers. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate and the food is fresh. We highly recommend being brave and trying the beef heart appetizer!
Genuinely one of the best meals I've had in the capital region. Everything is unique and delicious. The ambiance is cozy and romantic. I'll definitely be coming back.
The food was delicious. I had the meat platter for two with steak, tripe, rotisserie chicken, plus more with potatoes and corn. Seasoned wonderfully. The dipping sauces were a welcome extra. Cocktails were well made and reasonably priced. Aesthetically, the decor inside and out was well done. They obviously put some work in. I will be coming back and trying the sea side of the menu.
Wonderful and fresh food with interesting flavor profiles. The entrées portion are sized for the enjoyment of food. The price is just right for the quality and variety of ingredients. If you are looking for a sweet piña colada that is not made from a mix, this place is the place to be.
The most delicious Peruvian food we’ve had in while, will definitely come back! Amazing and warm staff! Highly recommend!
Ordered the Tacu Tacu with Cilantro Lamb Stew and it was absolutely delicious! Very comfortable and a great place to have dinner with friends, very excited to come back and try something new!
Food and service were superb. Everything was delicious and generously portioned, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Easily my new favorite restaurant in the area.
The ceviche was so good and there were so many options. The chicha was also delicious! The wait staff were friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back!
Genuinely amazing; get the anticuchos (it sounds scary but I promise it was genuinly one of the best cuts of meat I’ve ever eaten!). Everyone loved their dish; the asado criollo, arroz con pollo, and the lamos saltado.
This was our first experience with Peruvian cuisine. We asked our server for help with choosing authentic options and were very pleased with the results. Our food was hot and delicious. There was enough to have for leftovers the next evening. We were suprised with the low-keyed and private ambience of the restaurant. I tried a drink with pisco for the first time and was happy with it. We shall return and encourage others to try Quechua as I am confident that many will be as pleased as we were.
Saw this restaurant randomly on the map. We ordered the ceviche trio, the acevichado, and the parrillada Quechua. Everything was so delicious. 10/10 would eat again.
We had a very nice dinner last night. Service was good. Server was attentive, knowledgeable and warm. Food was terrific all around. Rotisserie chicken was perfect, ceviche was delicious, octopus was grilled and presented wonderfully. It’s nice to have good food, service and diversity of cuisine in the area.
The food here is absolutely delicious!! Would recommend for any new people in the area if they haven’t tried yet. So yummyyyyyyyyyy!
Amazing food!! I've never had Peruvian food before but I'll definitely be back to try more, the food is succulent and presented with finesse. I went with my family for my birthday and all of our meals looked pretty and tasted amazing! I was sampling everyone's food and everything tasted amazing in its own way. Highly recommend the red snapper, and all the sauces were creamy and tasty. Everything came out perfect. For people who love trying new foods you HAVE to add Quechua to the list!! They have a big menu with lots of choices, including vegetarian and gluten free. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back yum!
Ordered the arroz chaufa and Octopus Anticuchero which were both wonderfully cooked. The atmosphere in the restaurant is always really welcoming.
I am obsessed with this place. The food is phenomenal, the service has always been great, and the restaurant itself is lovely (even if, in my opinion, some of the wall art looks a little cheap/AI generated compared to the rest of the restaurant’s vibe - literally my ONLY critique). I had brought several family and friends in support because this is a restaurant I desperately want to see stick around. The ceviche/leche de tigre are to die for, and the fact that they have things like chicha morada, anticuchos, and choclo on the menu make me SO nostalgic for the time I spent in Peru.
Amazing atmosphere, clean and spectacular seating. The service was perfect. The food was elevated. The price was an incredible value for what you got. The seafood, ceviche was the highlight for me. Try the trio! We will be back, often!
Everything was delicious! This is authentic Peruvian food - bright and bold flavors, fresh, and a new staple for me. They clearly take care to do it right and you can taste it in every bite. Highly recommend the trio of ceviches and the rotisserie chicken - pour those sauces on everything!! My dinner mates said it was one of the best flans they’ve had in the Capital Region. The portions are sizable - we shared apps and dessert, had significant leftovers, and with drinks and tip, spent about $70 per person.
What a great find! Authentic Peruvian food right here in Watervliet. An extensive menu - I'll have to come back multiple times to try everything I thought looked interesting. Great Pico Sour! Excellent, inexpensive South American wines. Wonderful, attentive service and delightful decorations. I had the seafood tower - an excellent sampler of multiple dishes.
This is by far the best restaurant I have been to North of NYC in quite some time. The food is amazing, the staff is amazing and attentive and the atmosphere is quaint and lovely. Whether you are going alone, on a date, or with a group of people, this is a wonderful option I would not pass up. So excited to have a such a wonderful, cultural and unique dining option in this region and can't wait to return (I have been there over a handful of times already). Cheers and continued success - it is well deserved.
Finally made it over to watervliet to try this spot out. So happy I did! I took the server suggestion on what to order and I was beyond pleased. Not a bad Peruvian brew either! I will be back no doubt. Very unique taste, really hit the spot.
This place is Great! The Papas a la huancania is legit! The Ahi Amarillo Ceviche is excellent and on the lunch menu we got adobo de cerdo, which was also phenomenal! Alex our waiter was super nice and helpful as well! Go, eat, be happy!!!
1. Just GO. Plenty on the menu - you’ll find something you like! 2. Ask for Gianni as your waiter. Top notch service! 3. Enjoy!! Seriously, this place is a gem. Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to go back.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Food was excellent, presentation equally as amazing. The flavors and variety of options is out of this world. The service was great - our server (was a young guy) was so thoughtful in his recommendations and the cocktails he made were delicious. I didn't expect the atmosphere to be what it was. From the outside, it looks like a small, quaint place but when you walk inside it's absolutely beautiful. Highly, highly recommend this place.
I can't say enough great things about Quechua. To start, it's Peruvian which is hardly common. The menu is amazingly long and varied, with lots of fish choices. The spices are zesty and flavorful. Our group of five had Pescado (Snapper) Andino, Asado Ciollo, Arroz Con Polo, and Risotto Fruto Del Mar, all great. The staff is mostly family and they are friendly, know the menu, take special requests seriously, and visit the table frequently. We shared two desserts, Dulce de lechde and Alfadores, the server suggested and enjoyed them both. The decor is nicely done. The restaurant is easy to find, right off 787.
Wonderful meal, service, and ambiance. Our server was very helpful and talked us through the entire menu, I got the vegetarian taku taku which was delicious and big enough for leftovers. Very flavorful sauces on the appetizer and main meal. Will be coming back!
We didn’t know what to expect when we showed up. I’ve never had Peruvian food before, but I’m always excited by a new culinary adventure. My husband and decided on the spur of the moment that today was the day to indulge in the taste of the Andes. WOW!!!!!! We started with the anticuchos appetizer: grilled flame beef heart, marinated with Peruvian spices and served with roasted potatoes and Peruvian corn. But let’s back up to our wonderful server Gianni. We were interested in trying something different and delectable, and not only did he suggest anticuchos, he went on to describe it such a scintillating… and dare I say… poetic way. We were transported out of the frigid dreary Northeast into exotic Peru. And that was before we even tasted our appetizer. When it arrived…sizzling by the way… my husband and I tasted some of the perfectly prepared corn and dipped them into the delicious sauce that accompanied the appetizer. My palate did somersaults and I hadn’t even tasted the potatoes and beef hearts yet. The potatoes had a perfect crunch on the outside and were soft and steamy inside. The beef…well… it’s hard to describe perfection. The beef was seasoned with love and tasted like it just came off of the grill. Keep in mind that this was only the appetizer. My husband and I were in awe and kept talking about how delicious the flavors were, so cohesive yet unique. We ordered the Tacu tacu à lo macho and the pescado a lo macho for our main entrees. Again Gianni helped us decide by explaining what was in the dish and how the dish was prepared. I don’t think we’ve ever had a server take the time and care to so patiently and beautifully describe a menu option. When our meals came, they were even more exquisite than his descriptions if that is even possible .The food in its entirety was so delicious. The fish and seafood were wonderful but there were also edible gens like cassava and yucca tucked under the fish. I cannot find one thing that detracted from the overall experience of these meal in terms of taste or service or atmosphere. Kudos to chef Angel for giving these two retirees a truly heavenly dining experience! I could say so much more but the best way to get an idea of what to expect when you eat here, is to come see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed! I’m glad their menu is extensive because it will give us the opportunity to keep trying something new and wonderful every time we come…and we will be back!
I got the lomo saltado, and my wife got the tarallin verde, soooo good!!! It's tough finding good Peruvian food but this place hit it out of the park! We will be regulars there
I have never been to a Peruvian restaurant before and I can be picky about my food. I am so glad my friend invited me to this restaurant. The food is very flavorful, large portions and meat/fish is fall off the bone or very flaky. The various sauces are delicious. We asked a lot of questions and our waitress was very patient and explained anything we asked. Want to try something new, give this place a try.
We've been wanting to visit this restaurant for a bit, and now I wish we have gone sooner! Though I don't believe I ever specifically had Peruvian food and didn't know what to order, the waitress Amiya was so knowledgeable, explained everything thoroughly and gave her suggestions. She was super sweet. Ellen, who greeted and aat us was great also! So, I am a bit of a self-proclaimed food snob, with an intense palette, and can be very picky. But, WOW, this food was so good! I had the biggest chicken soup ever to start, followed by the braised beef (on the bone) stew with rice and beans and for dessert the rice pudding and powdered sugar cookies with caramel. I was so full, but a good full. The ambience was cozy, clean, and pleasant-the huge booth was comfortable too. I have been telling everyone to go. Thanks so much for bringing your aunthenticity to the Capital Region. ❤️Dina Oh, and thanks for the humongous piece of flan to bring home. It was the best I've ever had!
First time to this amazing restaurant. Alex our server was informative and guided us through the menu and offered suggestions. Both of our dishes were outstanding! Pleasant atmosphere and can't wait to go back with our granddaughter who will love trying the seafood or sushi. Make sure if you go that you take an order of the cookies home for dessert because the dinner portions are huge! Yummy cookies!!!!

I really enjoyed my partner's and my meal here -- the ambiance is lovely with a fresh and clean interior of soft green and gold accents, and the food was all-around delicious. I know Peruvian food is heavy on the meat and fish so I really appreciate Quechua putting a handful of vegetarian options on the menu. We started with the Papa a La Huancaina, which was a cold appetizer of potato and hard boiled egg covered in a creamy cheese sauce, it's a simple but delicious dish that's easy to share. My partner was intrigued by the Nikkei rolls that blend Japanese technique with Peruvian flavors so he tried the Acevichado roll. We appreciated the waiter letting us know that their remaining avocados were too hard so they didn't want to put them in the roll, but my partner did conclude that, while tasty without it, the avocado would have been a welcome texture addition -- we do commend their commitment to quality control though! We ordered two of their vegetarian dishes and both were hits! The Vegetable Chaufa might sound just like Japanese fried rice but it has a distinct smokey flavor that I really enjoyed. My favorite bite of the night was the Vegetable Tacu Tacu -- I loved the blend of crispy on the outside but soft on the inside rice and canary beans and the cilantro beer sauce is a lovely pairing for the vegetables it comes with -- it will probably be my go-to dish here. We ended our meal with the Arroz con leche which had wonderful cinnamon flavor, but I would suggest that they remove the large cinnamon sticks before serving, having to fish them out while you're enjoying your dessert is not the most pleasant. Quechua cocktail menu is equally as fun as their food menu with several Pisco based signature cocktails and classic cocktails to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed my purple corn sour which had a great balance of sour and sweet. tl;dr: Quechua is a lovely addition to the Capital Region dining scene. I look forward to returning!

Interesting dishes well prepared (and explained). Ceviches all great. Food took a bit to come out, not sure why and no explanation offered. All three diners said they would return.
Had lunch, their lunch special had 6 options. Had the rotisserie chicken, thought it would have more spices. Wife had fried rice, very simple and plain maybe the dinners hadore Peruvian flavoring. Service very good.
I would love to give them 5 stars, just because the food and cocktails were absolutely delicious. And while the servers and staff were very professional and courteous, the service was a little slow in my opinion.
We've never had Peruvian food before so it was an interesting experience. They have a number of fish dishes that are like Japanese sushi due to the influence of Japanese immigrants in Peru. We did not try that part of the menu. We enjoyed our meal but it did not leave us with the feeling that we wanted to go back and explore the menu further.
The food was serviceable. I ordered the quechua causa. The plate was missing more flavor from the ceviche, and the causa was just mashed potatoes.. i wish they could have stuffed the middle with something. I would probably go one more time and try a different dish before going elsewhere. I travel the nation trying peruvian food and this place left me wanting more depth of flavor from their dishes.
Sushi was ok. Though the Lomo Saltado was awful. Light colored definitely missing soy sauce. The waiter told us that the restaurant ran out the day before and if you know Lomo saltado then it’s cooked with soy sauce. It tasted sour and bitter. For the national dish of Peru, I was expecting more from it. The Huancaina pasta was ok, has a different taste from the authentic but was the main highlight of the night. Wouldn’t even bother with the pisco drinks. Barely any pisco was added. Service was excellent, my only complaints are with the food and the pricing surrounding it.

Very very bad expierence. Was feeling excited to find a peruvian restaurant with food that looked very delicious in pictured as well as the great reviews. So you can imagine the disappointment when I went for the first time with someone else and as I was drinking the chicha felt something in my mouth. Looked down and realized there was a 3 dead flys in the drink. Wasn’t offered any apologies, they brought a new drink and still decided to charge for it, ended up leaving the drink they brought for us. The big bug in my drink truly ruined any sort of appetite that I had left my plate about half empty. So disappointed, never judge a restaurant by its reviews
