Took my daughter here for a daddy daughter date night which is a very rare treat for us and Cattleman's did not disappoint. The service is incredible. We were greeted and brought to our table by a gentleman named Edward. You could not find a more genuinely nice person if you tried. He was warm and friendly to my daughter and really made us feel comfortable. Our server was Michael and I can't say enough good things. He greeted us quickly and got drinks and appetizers going. Got our orders perfectly (I order my steak in a particular way, usually trips people up but Michael didn't skip a beat) and checked us on consistently making sure we were enjoying the food and drinks were filled. The Sheriff (2lbs sirloin) was cooked perfectly and absolutely mouthwatering along with every bit of food we had. We had a really perfect dinner and this very easily became my favorite steakhouse. Highly recommended.
Every time I go try somewhere else, at the end of my meal I say to myself " Should've gone to Cattleman's ". And then my wife says it out loud to me. The food is phenomenal, the portions are as over sized as can be. The service is on point! Zero complaints other than I can't eat here every day or I'd send myself to an early grave. Get on over here if you want some real American food.
My wife and I ordered T-bone steak. It was amazing, juicy and delicious. The waiter was very welcoming and attentive to us. Even the French fries were crunchy and as if made from fresh potatoes (not frozen), unlike as at other fast food cafes. The place is very authentic and suitably decorated.
Michael G was an amazing server. Always attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I had the 2lb sirloin medium and it sure was juicy. We saw the ribs at the next table. Looked and smelled so good. Can't wait for the next visit.
We have been to Cattlemen’s so many times that we have lost count. Steak is always cooked perfectly. They are always consistent.
Mike, behind the bar last night was fantastic. He was attentive to my needs and asked me how he could serve me. He definitely deserves a raise.
Everything was amazing! What a treat. The filet Mignon melts in your mouth. Everything taste so good, from the salad to the bread, and everything in-between.
Cattlemen's restaurants are California chain of causal, family restaurants in "Western style". They are known by unlimited salad's served as part of your meal and of course for their steak. Do not expect Micheline star food experience, but food is usually very good if maybe boring. Not a place for vegetarians. You can get hamburger with impossible meat ($2 more expensive than beef), but that is about it.
My wife and I always makes reservations for special occasions, birthdays or anniversary. Wonderful and delicious food.
Every time I go to cattleman's I end up getting the sheriff's steak. I find that to be the most amount of deliciousness that I've ever had when it comes to steak. A massive amount of meat for the price plus you have enough left over for the next day. Not to mention the salad that you get free unlimited and unlimited sourdough bread. Which is awesome! Plus you get a side of ranchbeans style witch tast very good. Ps the strawberry cheese cake is to die for.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cattlemen’s Restaurant, and it was an experience that left a lasting impression. The steak dinner I enjoyed there was second to none, and the value was simply astounding considering the exceptional quality of beef. Being in Northern California, close to such a rich variety of beef sources, certainly seems to have its perks. The meal I chose was a perfectly cooked porterhouse accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes. It’s worth noting that every meal at Cattlemen’s comes with a generous salad, freshly baked sourdough bread, and a hearty side of baked beans, making the dining experience even more satisfying. Cattlemen’s truly offers a remarkable experience for anyone in search of a top-notch steak. My only wish is for more locations across California, beyond their Petaluma and northern outposts. I definitely plan to check out there other locations when I’m in this area.
Food is bomb , but the environment overall is just Ok , the place could use some steam cleaning of carpet and tile. To go out with kids or friends on a random day it’s great, but I wouldn’t go here on a special occasion .
Delishious food. My wife and I ordered the 16 oz porterhouse medium rare, warmed to perfection! Twice baked potatoes were just as good. Enough salad to take home half of what they brought us. Overall, it was a very great dine in steakhouse. I took a star off of atmosphere only because the booths are kind of tight, but other than that, the restaurant is full of awesome things to look at. Plus, for the size of the place, you hardly hear other tables. Was able to talk to my spouse without having to raise our voices. Would recommend making reservations. We did ours online at 3pm to have dinner at 7pm, and we're seated by 6:52pm. Oh and the staff is extremely nice. As busy as they were, they all still had smiles on their faces.
We sat in the back and all though we were out of sight and out of the way, service was great. Food was delicious. Make reservations if you can!
I was amazingly surprised when I started writing this review. 5 stars? There's no way a chain restaurant can do that, but they did, today at least. We ordered the dinner for 2, my wife got the Filet with sweet potato and I got the Ribeye with twice baked potato. First, every meal comes with all you can eat salad and fresh baked sourdough bread. The salad dressing comes in a little pourer so everyone gets their own. The steaks were cooked to taste and extremely flavorful. The baked potato had a nice garlic flavor and even the usually dull baked beans were tasty.
I went for Happy Hour and it did not disappoint. I ordered the lamb chop lollipops and garlic truffle fries. I also ordered the raspberry lemon margarita. The food was amazing so much so that I ordered a second round of lollipops. You get 3 lollipops per order.; they are drizzled with soy sauce that makes them exceptionally good. The fries were covered in Parmesan cheese with the garlic sauce in the bottom of the plate not overbearing. This was my 3rd time here and none of my visits have been disappointing when it comes to the food. The atmosphere is quiet but busy with many patrons in for happy hour.
Absolute Perfection as Always. Our Server Exceptional , crafted drinks Delicious, salad The BEST, Bread and butter My Favorite, oh man the homemade dressings so good, dinner.... My mouth is watering while I'm typing this, Cattleman's is THE BEST Steakhouse No, Cattleman's IS THE GOAT Steakhouse and don't forget the garlic butter on top. I love you guys
First class! Our Bacon Wrapped shrimp showed up right after we ordered it! So we were able to enjoy that with our drinks while waiting on our steaks! And the steaks were amazing! My Porterhouse was perfect! Medium rare and delicious! My wife's New York was also perfect! The Scotch was a generous pour, the Manhattan was ridiculously good! Our dinner date was a home run!👍 Always great @ Cattlemen's!😁😎
Very, very nice restaurant! Super clean, staff was personable and attentive. Great atmosphere for a romantic dinner or even a celebration with plenty of space to do both without disturbing one another. Great food? No doubt! I recommend this one and will be back to eat here again.
This place reminds me of Cattleman’s Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch, northeast of Fabens and I-10, just southeast of El Paso. The atmosphere takes you back to the wagon-train days you see on TV, and the food is excellent—classic, real American steak.
Our, dinners, were perfect, i had baby back ribs, my friend, had steak. Cooked perfectly, the bread was delicious. Loved the salad, really fresh. Jamison was our, wait person, very attentive and friendly, they had lots of birthdays, but he,was there if we needed something. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Went to cattlemans yesterday after work with some coworkers to watch the Kings game. I ended up having a really enjoyable meal with a great game. The food was tasty and cook exactly like we requested. Steak was melt in your mouth and appetizers were a great entry to the rest of the meal. Grace ended up being our server. She made sure to come around very frequently to make sure all of our drinks were topped off and that we were having the best experience possible. The only recommendation I could make about the whole experience would be in possibly upgrading the televisions to a larger size in the bar area. Overall, I had a very pleasurable experience and will be back in the future!
Saturday night, there were no reservations and was able to walk in and get sitted. Great food, great service. Service was friendly and fast. The food options for kids had a good variety. There is a whole gluten-free menu upon request. There are plenty of options other than steak but plenty of delicious options to choose from. The steak by far was the best and the mashed Potatoes were insanely delicious.
My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for more than a decade, and it has always been a great experience. The service is always excellent and the food...oh my! The fresh baked bread arrives warm and is crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. The salad is always fresh and crisp. The steaks are tender and cooked to perfection! The rack of lamb is also fabulous. The Roseville location is quite large and is able to comfortably allow for social distancing indoors.
We have been going to Cattlemen's for many years. Usually for special occasions. These past few years have been harder to get out with the family for birthdays celebrations. My husband and I have gone on our own. He missed it a lot. Always very friendly service, clean restaurant. This time I ordered something different I have never ordered before, steak and lobster. It was very good! I wanted more lobster. Last time we went a little late, I had a long day at work. I think we were there after 8 pm. They walked us back to our table. I was thinking where are we going. It was this hidden in the back corner booth.
Cattlemens is a consistent gem. Attentive service, warm and inviting atmosphere, and excellent steaks round out this well priced steakhouse. I had the 8 Oz sirloin with baked potato and salad, bread, and baked beans. The flavors and quality were excellent. Will be coming here again for sure.
The staff were exceptional. Food was phenomenal. Large, free parking lot. Excellent prime rib. Large portions. Even the manager was friendly!
We arrived at exactly 5:00pm. The place was packed. The family in front of me didn't have reservations and was told that there was a two and a half hour wait. Turns out someone took our reservation! However they got us seated within five minutes. The service was great the food wonderful. We will be back hopefully soon
It was really busy for a Monday but we still enjoyed our dinner. T bone steak was not cooked the way we asked, instate of beef ribs, we got pork ribs 🙃 but I appreciate that mistake was acknowledged and fixed and in the end we left happy. Here is some pictures of the food ♥️
I Love Cattlemens... The food & the service was impeccable, to say the least. Our waitress was Awesome and on top of everything. The atmosphere was perfect and when we sat down, it felt like it was just us... Which is why we loved coming here.. the booths, the layout, it gives you intimate dining. It was busy, of course one could hear others enjoying themselves, but in our booth, it was us..we could hear each other, we're able to just enjoy the evening together. The appetizer was delish, and the steaks were cooked perfectly to our likes. This was definitely a wonderful night out to dinner, we'll be back again soon.
First time to Cattlemans Restraunt and had great dining and atmospheric experience. Food was prepared to perfection and the staff were awesome and very attentative to our needs.
If you're a meat-lover, you'll LOVE this place! We've been coming here forever, and it's usually crowded (for good reasons), so probably smart to make a reservation. The ambience is cozy/friendly with a mix of families and high-chairs, cute youngish couples, hungry seniors, and interesting singles. Also, their bar is a great place to hang on a Fri or Sat night (while waiting for your table), to "people watch!" 😉 After ordering a dinner, and you're eating the all-you-can-eat salad (!) with that yummy sourdough, remember to leave room for your steak, loaded (!) baked potato, and cowpie brownie sundae♥️♥️♥️ Pure heaven.....
Always a great dining experience! We always make a reservation, then walk right up to the host and get seated right away no matter how busy it is. Have been coming to this establishment for over 20 years and have yet to have been disappointed. The Pete's special is my go to since I have been a young boy in the early 90's, and still ordering it today!
We were hesitant to go to Cattlemans on new years eve with our large group but they did not disappoint! Our waiter was outstanding! All orders (18) were served hot, yummy and correct! We did not have to ask for refills on anything, he kept up! It was a wonderful place to ring in the new year!
The salad alone set the stage at 7 stars. Then came the prime rib that was amazing. Baked potato was perfect. Too full for dessert. Service got a tough rating of 4 stars due to the time it took to get the steaks. But could easily be a 5 after tasting it. Still to be transparent, it was a lengthy wait. All in all, the experience was great. Will be back.
Family recommended this steak restaurant and it did not disappoint. We had ordered the Rustler Rib Eye Steak & 2 “The Sheriff”and side of garlic fries. With a couple of cocktails, Lemon Drop & Paniolo Mai Tai. Salad with the choice of dressing and sour dough bread was served before. The rib eye steak had great flavor awhile we agreed the sirloin was neutral. Overall we enjoyed everything on the table.
This is our first visit to Cattlemens, and we will definitely return. The meal was so so delicious. My steak was so tender. The baked potato great. My husband had the baby back ribs. So, so tender and seasoned well. We didn't have to add more sauce. The meal comes with a delicious all you can eat salad, and a fantastic heated sourdough bread with churned sweet butter. The service was wonderful, especially our server Blane. There is plenty of seating, and the wait was less than 15 minutes. There was plenty of parking. Bring a light jacket as the AC was a bit cool , especially for those who do not live in the heat of the Sacramento area. We will definitely will be back.
I have been going to Cattlemens since 1978! It's one place we're you can have a real Prime Cut of some the Best Steak you can eat....One of the Best things about Cattlemen is the place nows how to cook it! No Surprises! They train them how to prepare a steak....Not a easy thing to be able to do. Try to cook a Steak on a Hot grill and get it right on Rare,Med. Rare,Med,etc. It's Not easy....they have been in business for over 55 years, there doing something right? Great Atmosphere, great staff, you can't go wrong....
Cattlemens Steakhouse – Rocklin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After a quick stop at Bass Pro Shops to grab some fishing supplies, we made a spontaneous decision to revisit Cattlemens Steakhouse—a Highway 80 Rocklin icon we hadn’t been to in over 20 years. What a pleasant surprise! This place still delivers on all fronts: incredible food, generous portions, warm hospitality, and that rustic Western charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a cowboy camp. We called ahead since it was a Friday night, and the host happily added us to the waitlist. By the time we arrived 15 minutes later, the place was packed—but we were seated within two minutes. Off to a great start! We began with a cocktail and a beer—my cocktail was just $11, which is practically unheard of these days for something so well made. The menu had plenty to offer, but we opted for the Dinner for Two ($79) special, which turned out to be a fantastic value. It included warm bread, all-you-can-eat salad, a choice of appetizer (we picked the shrimp cocktail, which came with six large, chilled shrimp), and two entrees, baked beans and dessert. I went with the prime rib, served sizzling hot on a cast iron plate, alongside a loaded baked potato. Erik ordered the New York steak, also with a baked potato. Both steaks were cooked perfectly (medium-well) and full of flavor—Harris Ranch beef truly makes a difference. We barely had room for dessert, but the meal included a choice of classic desserts, so our server kindly boxed it up to-go, complete with a separate container for the ice cream. We were also so full that we only made it through half of our steaks—leftovers we’re definitely looking forward to enjoying tomorrow! Our waiter and the entire staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We were so impressed we left a 25% tip without hesitation. Some nights you go in without big expectations and come out genuinely delighted—and that was exactly the case here. Call ahead and make a reservation—and definitely add Cattlemens to your next stop if you’re craving a great steak, old-school hospitality, and a dining experience that hits all the right notes.
It brings back memories thinking about when Cattlemens first opened its doors back in 1976, and my parents took us there for a family dinner. In the early 2000s when I moved back to the area, and Cattlemens was still one of the standout steakhouses around. I love going there even now because it feels like stepping back in time to those good old days. Nothing much has changed—the menu is still packed with favorites, the rustic charm is as welcoming as ever, and the service is consistently excellent. The steaks? Always tender, cooked just the way I like them, with sides that are generous. It's always a fun dining experience!
Cattlemens is awesome. We loved our steaks. Cowboy bone-in ribeye w/garlic fries $43 and a sizzling prime rib $38. They both had good flavor. The roasted artichoke $10 was only so so. The entrees comes with all you can eat salad, potato and bread. However, we did not receive our beans. Trinity, our server, did a great job. Our food came out fast and she checked on us often. This is a good Cattlemens location.
Overall, I quite liked it despite a few problems I had with it. The ribeye steak I had was really good, though you should probably make sure to ask them to remove the onion rings on top if you don't like those on your steak. Apart from that little blunder, the food was overall really solid, with crunchy french fries and nice milk. However, for whatever reason, they changed their chocolate outlaw cake for the worst. I get that change can be good, but it was changed to something that seems to go against was it was described as being, a triple dosage of chocolate cake. I would really recommend they change it back and maybe make the new cake an entirely separate entity. The service was really good at the bar, with the bartenders being really friendly. Overall, I'd recommend giving the place a try if you haven't already. Just don't try to bike there as there's no sidewalk on the road by it, and it's borderline dangerous to ride Taylor Rd over I-80 with the way it's designed. I'd recommend either driving there or utilizing Uber.
It was okay. Some things a lot better then others. Don't order kids Mac n Cheese unless you want day old looking Mac n Cheese, the Salmon was overcooked, the onion tangler appetizer was pretty greasy, the Prime Rib was excellent, the bread they serve is excellent, and the salad is good. Wish I could give it a 5/5 use to be my favorite place to eat
I have never been to Cattlemen's and my parents suggest I go. We went for my birthday so there was a slight discount but not as much as other restaurants in the area. The bread was warm ans butter soft so you could actually spread it on the bread. They served the salad family style and the gave each person their individual preference of dressing. We had the potato skins and mozzarella moons. Those portions were huge! The moons threw me off a little but they were good. Potatoes werr so large we had to stop so we would have room for dinner. Dinner was presented nicely, the kid's cheeseburger was so big, it looked like an adult burger. The adult burger was twice as large. Even my little one struggled to eat her corn dogs. The Pete's steak was not too bad. I like the prime rib, not too fatty. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was definitely larger than most restaurants but not by much. The strawberry lemonade was ok and the kid's enjoyed the chocolate milk and Shirley Temples. The downside was the Long Island Ice Tea. It was mostly clear. Not enough Coke. When you can see through the glass, that's nothing but liquor. If that's what you are looking for then definitely order it :) The birthday portion was nice and I got a dessert and cow girl hat out of it. All in all, the portions were large and a party of 7 walked away with 5 take out containers that's a lot of food. We will revisit to try the other items. If you do not eat alot or do not want to waste food, definitely consider sharing some food items because food could definitely win.
Customer service was excellent...celebrated our 54th anniversary there...surprised with a small, unexpected, glasses of champagne 🍾. Atmosphere was pleasant. We ordered the prime rib, because we were craving it, cooked to our desired doneness...one medium the other rare to medium rare. Both had good flavor but maybe a little over salted...mine was slightly tuff, but not objectively so. Couldn't tell the difference in size between my 12 Oz and my brides 9 Oz cut. We did leave satisfied as customer service was above and beyond by all staff members. Also only restaurant that we could find with prime rib served on a Thursday and priced very reasonably compared to other venues.
This place is sadly always busy so we dont get the chance to eat here as often as I wish we could. Its a 50/50 chance that you can get in under 45 min to an hr. When we do get the chance to eat here the food is always really good.
I came here for the first time for the Veteran's Day meal, and I have to say I'm impressed. I was able to bypass the 1.5-hour wait by sitting at the bar. Bartenders were super busy, so service was slow (understandable), and it was hard to get their attention. The meal came with steak, beans, a salad, a side of your choice (I got mixed vegetables, and added an extra side of mushrooms), plus bread. I didn't want the beans, so I skipped out on that. I wish the vegetables were steamed just a little bit longer, but everything else was good, especially the bread. I love that they have 25 oz beer— it was perfect. I'd love to come back on a day that's not so busy and try out some more of their food.
Pretty good bar and grille restaurant. In walking distance of the group of hotels (Fairfield Inn). Sat at the bar with a few fellas, they enjoyed the beers avaliable. We ordered the Porcini Mushroom Ravioli, Cowboy Steak, and Western Wings with Spicy Buffalo. The steak was cooked on point and seasoned decently. The ravioli pasta itself was a bit dry, the sauce was a little cold too, flavors were good though. The wings were the best item in my opinion. Great size, textures, flavors and tenderness. The bartender was very observant and attentive to our requests.
Don't go on "tri-tip" night whatever that is. Any way. Very busy but the staff is very friendly and keeps you up to date on your status. Order taken quickly after being seated and had bread and salad right up front but took almost an hour to get the entrée. Choice tonight was the prime rib which is very good and flavorful. Definitely recommend. Overall a good visit and would come back. Enjoy
The service by Mariela was terrific. She took great care of us. My wife's steak was good. My prime rib tasted very good. I was not used to it being seared and it gave it a different taste. The bread was terrific. Overall we will go again but I will try a steak instead. Once more, Mariel was outstanding.
I came here last night (1/15/23) for the first time ever. I must say the staff was very nice and energetic. We made reservations earlier in the week for 4:30 and let’s just say this place was already congested 15 min after they opened at 4pm, but we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter was funny, quick, and attentive. I ordered the grilled salmon glazed with teriyaki sauce and mashed potatoes The mashed potatoes were the BOMB!!! Tasted like my own without all of my special seasonings, but they were soooooo good!! The teriyaki glaze was very good, but I didn’t like the salmon. It was charred ok, but it was lacking flavor and it wasn’t exactly hot. BUT, I am also someone who loves blackened salmon well done, seasoned with a little garlic, onion and lemon pepper, piping hot! It just wasn’t for ME! The beans they serve have zero seasoning. I realize restaurants have to curve the salt, but geeeeeeeeeez😩 these beans are like pinto bean flavor and we all know those beans need salt!!! The sour dough bread is FIRE!!!! It is so freaking good! The only thing missing was clam chowder or broccoli and potato soup! Ok…For dessert I had carrot cake and I am still working on it! It is FIRE!! Taste like REAL homemade carrot cake! This is also a large piece of cake and a must have! I had a non alcoholic lime margarita! It was also very good! I wish they made a key lime pie that resembled the flavor of that drink! Anyway, I rambled on enough! I only gave this place 4 ⭐️’s because my salmon and those beans weren’t that good! But to each his own🤷🏽♀️
Waitress made to much of a deal about sharing the end of someone salad. We under stand it's one person dish but when they are done other should be able to eat the rest. We did pay for it. Just a little grip. Overall won't stop me from the great food and drinks served here.
The food was good, but my plate cooled rather quickly. It was busy already at 4:30pm, so maybe staff was short handed. Service was good with several exceptions of waiting for extra condiments and the bill. Atmosphere was as you might expect from an old west theme. The sound level was tolerable for the number of guests. The booths are high which kept the surrounding chatter down. I am overweight so the booths were tight. Unsure if we will ever go again, and if I'll ever loose some girth. Try it for yourself. You may totally enjoy Cattleman's.
Early dinner for a family celebration. Nothing was bad per se. Everything was just okay. The meat is getting smaller. The prices are getting higher, and everything feels like it's done on a conveyor belt. The waiter sounded like a used car salesman. The salad was underwhelming. They provided a bowl and tongs, each person gets a little pitcher of their preferred dressing. A ton of lettuce, a few slices of cucumbers and a few tomatoes between four people. They coild do better as this is the least expensive part of the meal for them. The free bread was warm but the butter was too hard to spread. We ordered a few single beef ribs on this side of our silver dollar sized stake, but they were covered excessively in a overly sweet barbecue sauce. And talk about fatty. So we walked out with about a two hundred dollar meal thinking meh.
Happy Hour is highly recommend if you want to avoid a long wait for good food and a busy bar. Staff maintains itself very well when that dinner bell rings. Definitely worth the visit.
My steak was medium and not medium rare which I didn't complain about. It was my birthday and I wasn't paying for it. The shrimp cocktail was on point and the jalapeno margarita was decent. I didn't finish it but nonetheless. Dinner came with sourdough bread enough for two people and all-you-can-eat salad. Parking was plentiful but packed and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. They do sing happy birthday to you if you want them to do. I didn't. Lol. Was it the best steak ever? No. Was it the best dining experience? No. Would I go again? Sure. There were plenty of other items I wanted to try.
In my opinion a steakhouse should serve Real Blue Cheese dressing!! If they did, it would be a game changer. What they serve as BC is not the same! My lobster tail dinner was delicious along with a plump baked potato with all the fixings! Overall our server Kaylee was great and she snuck in a Birthday wish song 🎶 🎉
They were busy but we waiting a long time for water. Our bread was gone and we waited a long time for refill. Steak was excellent, beans had great flavor. Salad cold and fresh. Bread yummy. Kids had Shirley temples and lived them. Overall definitely would go back and recommend this place to others.
Food was good. Service was a bit slow, understandably since we had a large group. Once everyone placed their orders, the food took roughly 70 minutes (yes over an hour wait) to start arriving at our tables. So relieved because we were starving. My half rack of beef ribs was okay, more bones than meat, see pictures below. The salmon was a bit on the dry and a bit bland, also I did not get the side that came with the meal. Our server was patient and kind. He refilled our drinks and was attentive. We made sure to give him a nice tip. Overall we enjoyed our meals.
The food was great. Unfortunately the service was not so good. We came in a not-so-busy Sunday night and we waited for a table for 2 for 15 minutes. I could see at the entrance that there were serval empty tables. After we were seated, we weren’t greeted by our sever until she came to take our order 15 minutes later.
We were seated fast. The new server had a great personality. Funny and kind. The only problem we had was the steak... I know, I know.. how can the steak be an issue? Its Cattlemen's! .. we ordered 2 medium rare cowboys and they were so chewy!!! My fiance didnt even eat his, it was that bad. He took 2 bites and that was all he cared to have. I ate a few more bites of mine and brought the rest home for my dog. There was a lot of grissle and not the yummy juicy buttery kind. I was like the rough and tough rubbery kind. Im hoping this was just a one off situation. The salad was the best part of our meal!
It's a little hard because I worked here for 7 years in the late 70's. Of course back then it was simpler times. The restaurant is virtually the same and the menu is also little changed. The green salad and french bread were just like I remembered. Best is bleu cheese dressing because we add to the Sysco base dressing when it arrives. Yum. All of our dinners were served cool to the touch. The prime rib sizzle plate didn't sizzle and the spare ribs were cool to the touch. For $40 a plate, I expect them to deliver I premium product. For six the bill was roughly $300 and for my money, at that price, it better be really, really good. It wasn't. No beans offered. When I asked what happened with the beans the waitress said they had run out. That really should never happen if you've operated for 40 years... No check back to see how the meal was going until it was too late. All-in-all a pretty disappointing experience. It was Mom's 87th birthday and I was hoping for a super memorable experience. Waitress acknowledged it was Mom's birthday when she first greeted us but never brought the crew over to sing to her. I think I'll probably eat there again in this life, but it's not a destination place for me. I'll stick with my great memories of the place instead.
First. I have frequented the Cattleman's in Livermore and have always found the food and service above average to very good. This Cattleman's was just average. We ordered the special 10 oz sirloin dinner. At first blush it appeared to be a great deal. A salad, steak, potato and a drink for $20.99. The salad was very good. Greens were cold and chrisp. Dressing on the side. The steak was a little over cooked but acceptable. The taste was okay. The problem was that the steak was as dry as the Sahara. It had acceptable color but was very, very lean therefore very dry. Potato was slightly under done. The texture of the inside was a bit firm, not light and fluffy. Service was a bit above average. Drinks topped off and plates cleared quickly. Nothing to complain about. BTW. The sour dough bread is fantastic.
Wow, the complete meal around the table was subpar at best. Baked potato at 5pm must have been from lunch or Wednesday dinner not fresh.. New York steak tough ,salmon not the best ,ribs were good but mashed potato were cold. My filet was fine ,half bowl of salad for five people. Server was very nice but forgetting to much, no backup. I like the theme of the restaurant but it smells really old ,like old bar carpet. It was very dangerous driving in and out of the restaurant onto Taylor Road at night . .
i absolutely love cattlemen's prime rib! i've been to several locations, and the prime rib has never disappointed. upon arriving at this location (for our 8pm reservation), we were seated, and ordered drinks. when the drinks arrived, the server asked us what we wanted to order ... the prime rib, of course! all four of us were eagerly anticipating sinking our teeth into several cattlemen's cuts of prime rib, cooked medium rare. ... except ... our server then informed us that the kitchen was out of the cattlemen's cuts, but mentioned they might have some of the smaller cuts available (she'd have to check with the kitchen). after coming back to the table, she let us know that only one prime rib was left; a western cut, cooked medium. well, one prime rib is better than none, right? so, we ordered a couple other steaks to sate our carnivorous appetites (a strip and a sirloin), along with the western cut of prime rib. the strip and the sirloin were ... just okay, nothing special. which meant the four of us were bumping into each others' forks for the smallish prime rib, which ... was good, but not as good usual. i think upon arrival, they should have let us know they were running out (or low) of prime ribs, so we could have either gone to another location (or another restaurant). but since we'd already been seated and served drinks, we felt somewhat stuck (plus, it was getting late). so, not the ideal outcome / situation. after overhearing an adjacent table's conversation, i don't think it's entirely cattlemen's fault - this other table was thanking their server profusely for "correcting the doneness of their prime rib orders." mind you, this was a table of ~12 adults, and it seemed as if each and every one of them had complained that their prime ribs were cooked improperly / sent back for a replacement. those were probably the prime ribs destined for our table! it saddens me to see / hear that such great food likely went to waste. anyway, i don't know if i'll be visiting this location any time soon, since there are several others nearby.
Good food, great drinks. Ig you like your steak rare you're going to need to emphadize it. There brownie dessert is amazing.
My husband’s work held a belated Christmas party here last night, and the experience highlighted a serious management and staffing issue. We had a group of approximately 30 people and were assigned one waitress. That decision alone guaranteed poor service, no matter how hard she worked. To be clear, our waitress was friendly, professional, and clearly doing her best in an impossible situation. This was not a server issue—it was a management decision. It took about 30 minutes to receive drinks and refills and nearly two hours for food to arrive. Water, bread, salads, and dressings were not on the table when we were seated, which only added to the delays. Guests attempted to order cocktails at the bar to speed things along and were told everything had to go through the waitress, further bottlenecking service. Assigning one server to a party of this size is unrealistic and unfair to both the staff and the guests. With appropriate staffing (one server per 6–8 guests), service would have run smoother and the restaurant likely would have increased sales. The food was good, but the excessive wait and lack of organization overshadowed the entire evening. I would not recommend Cattleman’s for large parties unless management significantly improves staffing and planning.
Baked potatoes were almost cold My husband said he was tired of chewing his prime rib for all the fat and grizzle , he didn’t finish it. My BBQ ribs were only warm, not hot, and were dry Service was mediocre, long time just to take our drink order The server never came to refill drinks We were hoping the food would be better than the Livermore location, we we were once again disappointed Spent almost $100 for 2 people.
I very disappointed; me and my wife been visiting this location for at least 3 years and until now everything was fabulous, I don’t know what changes were made but today 9-19-25 my order was not cooked the way I requested, I requested well done the meat to be cooked but instead I had raw meat on my Cheesburger, I was hungry and almost eat all but a chunk of sirloin meat fell on my plate and it was raw, now, i don’t know how much I’ve been eating raw meat because of me rushing and eating with French fries, I suggest people double check your order. As for me for a while I will avoid going to this place, I always left tips but not this time,
Just go somewhere else. Seriously, not a single person working there smiled. The check in desk had 5 girls chatting it up, I felt like we were invading their space. One of the bartenders was complaining, loud enough for customers to hear, about her tips. Maybe if she smiled, or at the very least wasn't angry and glaring at co-workers and customers, she'd make better tips. Stay home. Grill yourself! It'll probably be better than what we experienced. And no, this wasn't our first time with bad food and bad service there.
Second time I've ever been to cattlemans. We got there 14 minutes before our reservations were set for so we checked in and went to the bar. Spent 18 minutes waiting for a beer and a drink menu before getting seated without our drinks, spent another ten minutes waiting for our waiter, mind you this is 3:30pm, the JUST opened, and there is no one there. Finally got our drink order in and appetizers and after another 15 minutes we finally got our drinks, then another 20 minutes later we finally got the last appetizer. We then ordered food and it was out pretty quickly but the waiter "forgot" the ranch beans for the table because there wasn't room on the tray when he brought out the food and the steaks tasted like they were cooked on a dirty grill. The bill was almost $200 which is no big deal but it definitely was not a good experience at all. The waiter had a total attitude the entire visit and was unfortunately not a good visit. We had a group of 9 people that are all great tippers but the experience was terrible. Even the group that we were with who go there a lot said it was the worst service they had ever had there.
We have been. Going to cattlemen’s since 1968 for our anniversary. This year we have never been so disappointed. We brought friends and they ordered vodka tonic-But cattlemen’s was out of tonic. My steak was raw and had to be sent back. My friends was cooked like rock and had to be sent back. My husbands steak was so tough he couldn’t finish it. This was my husband and my 63 anniversary and was actually the worst anniversary dinner we ever had.
Couldn’t have gotten worse service on a company dinner outing. Our clerk literally walked into the back to get us water, then bowls for the giant salad bowl that was dropped with no silverware or plates to eat it. Had to go to the bar to get drinks and chase down a manager to get a check from a large group, which took another 30 min just to pay. Steak seasoning we all loved, the coloring was good, but yet the meat was dry🤷🏼♂️
What use to be staple 2 decades ago in my opinion is astounding to still be around. Been 6-8years since last visit @ this location in Roseville and was not any better if not worse. Spent 2 hours maybe little bit more tonight here with a group, yes on valentines weekend but that's no excuse for them as they should be prepared specially with reservation tally they had to aware them. During the 2+ hours attended we were only able to receive 2 rounds of drinks(barely...2nd round came half way to end of main course). Clearly need more bar back help. That is disgraceful. Waiter was mehhh. I get it its holiday weekend but that's no excuse should have had few more waiters on duty spread load and not talking about just my waiter or my table noticed through the floor. So not great service. Cook service was absolutely horrible. Several steaks came over cooked and way over cooked (pretty sad for a "steak house" cant even cook what they claim to be correct)!! Multiple of us had veggie side with under cook and over cooked veg, none of it was cooked perfect all the way through. Another thing that's sad is having to request for bread and more so the beans! Bring back the bean cart!! One thing as kid when this place was a staple was seeing that bean cart coming around and getting some beans. Most people now dont even know you get unlimited beans or beans at all. I could gone on into detail of my experience tonight but short moral story is go to texas road house or even olive garden over cattlemens. I rembered tonight why its been almost decade since last went here
Server was so terrible that I almost didn't tip her. My steak was decent at best. Potato was dry and cold. The bar area was very dirty. My wife's kabobs were raw and sent back to be returned to her just burnt and still raw inside. We ended up just getting a box and cooking it more at home. Not worth it to come here.
My husband and I decided to give Cattlemens in Roseville a second try for our 6th wedding anniversary lastnight, this following a horrible experience we had several years back. Our wait was relatively short after checking in for our reservation which was at 7pm and I was pleasantly surprised by where we were seated in a more private spot with (slightly) less noise. We ordered our drinks and the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appitizer, we already knew what we wanted for dinner so went ahead and tried to order dinner at the same time. Dinner went down hill from the start of ordering, they were out of the prime rib at 7:30pm, all prime rib. Pushing myself past the disappointment, my husband and I both ordered the 14oz rustlers rib-eye and the artichoke dip for another starter. He ordered medium rare and I ordered medium. The shrimp and artichoke dip arrived at roughly the same time as our drinks, which were delayed. The artichoke dip was exceptional, the shrimp were over overcooked and the sauce is nothing to post about. We ate our salad, which is unlimited, however we were never offered more, which is a disappointment in itself before your food even makes it to the table. When our plates arrived my steak was rare, however, after our last experience I knew not to return it in fear of receiving a hockey puck back. After eating only three bites of my steak, I gave up knowing that I would have to cook it more when returning home. Not only does Cattlemens consistently undercook your steak by one level of doneness that you request, they also do not season their meat, a 14oz steak should have a good amount of salt on it. The cookie at the end of the meal was also exceptional. However for the $145.00 that we paid for dinner, I should not have had to come home and cook and season my steak, nor should the artichoke dip or the cookie have been the best part of the meal.
Where to begin, this was probably the worst dinning experience I’ve ever encountered. We had a reservation for a party of 8 to celebrate my brother in law. We get seated, someone comes and drops off waters 10 minutes after sitting down. The place didn’t seem and crowded, but 30 minutes into it the waitress “Trinity” comes to take our drink order. Since we had been there a while we let her know we were ready to order. She said no I’m just taking your drink order I’ll come back later for that food order. I was so shocked and puzzled, it’s a weekday and we are ready to have dinner and head home after a long day. But “Trinity “ said no. I was so upset because I’ve never experienced anything like this, annoyed I went on a walk. But before I stepped away I asked some servers if she was gonna be our server or she was just taking our drinks, they said she was our server and that she was very busy. Again I left confused and annoyed. I saw the manager up front and told him I’ve never head anyone say “I’ll take your order later”, if a guest is ready you take their order, the manager said he wasn’t sure but he’ll “talk” to her . I even suggested changing servers but he said he’ll talk to her and I didn’t want to make it awkward so I said maybe I’m overreacting I’ll go catch some air and come back, so I did. Came back after 2 minutes , we wait again for a while for her to come back and take our order, she does and at this point it’s been around 45-50 minutes, no bread no nothing to get us started! Then she finally brings appetizers close to an hour after we had sat down, promptly after maybe 10 minutes in, I was shocked. She proceeded to bring out our food without clearing the table that had all the plates we had eaten out appetizers in, we actually were still working on it . Another coworker saw this and started helping her clear plates , this made no sense! She served me last, and gave me a nasty looking rib eye full of fat and said it was medium well. I told her my meat was Medium, she asked me would you like another pice and I said yes. She then Said “you’re not gonna talk to me like that” grabbed the plate from the table took her little side table and stomped away. I was so baffled with her reaction. “Trinity “ ruined our family night, my sons 7 and 3 were so shocked and asking why she was mad. I explained the best way I could and told them , in restaurants you serve people with kindness , respect and treat them like if they are guest at your house. Here are cattlemen Roseville, it was like you went to a family member’s house who doesn’t like you. If the manager would have heard my concern the first time I approached him this would be a completely different review. The employees and management need training, giving us a discount won’t cut it. We won’t ever return to this location. “Trinity” girl , you need to check yourself and your attitude, you’re not in high school, your at work… so maybe it’s time you go and find another profession. Cattlemen Roseville , do better.
Service and Appetizer was decent, but both steaks came out overcooked the one that was suppose to be rare came out manageable but the one that was suppose to be medium rare was medium well. The shrimp scampi was undercooked and mushy. 60% of the food that was ordered was left on the table. Very unsatisfied with this steak house.
We have been going to cattlemen’s for years and have always had an amazing experience. Unfortunately, we came on Veterans Day and the quality of food was underwhelming. Ordered a filet medium rare (pictured below), and it was extremely undercooked. The prime rib was overcooked and inedible. The saving grace was the amazing service we received from the bartenders. We love cattlemen’s,hoping this was just an off night for them since they were so busy.
I have been enjoying Cattlemens for the past seven years. I have always ordered the Prime Rib, medium rare, and ordered it as usual. Tonight I was served a grey looking piece of meat that looked like it was cooked yesterday. I showed it to our waitress and she immediately said she would get me a 'fresh one.' The second piece of meat looked better but by the time I reached the center it was so dry I couldn't start to finish it. I know meat prices are way up but I expected better meat than that. Never again!
It took a long time to get a server, but a young lady from another section eventually came over to help us. Once we were assisted, the service was great, and we sat at the bar. We ordered the dinner for two and started with the artichoke dip. The salad was great, but the steak was unseasoned and the potatoes were cold. We ordered two desserts—the pan cookie and fried apple pies—and both were delicious. I also noticed that servers garnish their own drinks using their bare hands, which felt very unsanitary. They were consistently touching customer menus, and one server was even playing with her hair before reaching into the garnish jars to finish drinks. Because my husband does not like to complain, I didn’t ask to speak with a manager. However, after spending over $100, I feel I should have spoken up and requested that the meal be comped. Overall, despite the good service and desserts, I will not be returning.
I ordered a medium rare steak not rare. Steak was chewy. I also ordered mashed potatoes with chives and sour cream not a baked potato with butter. Steak was bland and chewy. The server was also kinda mean. She was nice to my brother and mom but not my dad and I. Should be nice to everyone. Only thing positive was the look inside and our host, he was pretty cool. Will not be returning. All of our food was bland and not even close to savory.
