Opinions de Texas Hot Wellsville
Very friendly, great service. We had 2 year old twins with us and the staff were great! The food was awesome too! I loved their fries with gravy and cheese (their version of poutine) and their signature Texas Hot hotdog sauce is good. Going to have to go back and try a milkshake sometime.
Found this place by accident. Traveling through Wellsvile NY to somewhere else. The food was excellent and do they brage about it. But then, they have a right too. This little place is celebrating its 100th anniversary. It's great to visit a place where the people enjoy working there. A nice little town. The people were great. Also, check out the milk shakes.
Loved everything about this place. The cash only is a minor inconvenience but the quality of food overrides that. The milk shakes are top tier. I got the dog plate, which is basically just a garbage plate (Buffalo Slang), and it was amazing.
I was brought up in Western New York but now live in Richmond, VA. We have nothing down there to compare with a Texas Hot so when my wife and I were choosing where to go for a few days we decided to go back where we grew up. Wellsville is on the way to our hometown so we stopped to eat here. The food is terrific and the service is superb. The Texas Hots (hot dogs with a special chili sauce, mustard and onions) were as good as I remember from growing up and the french fries were hot and delicious. My wife had the fish fry dinner and her review of that was delicious. We would have like to have some of their delicious pies that we have had in the past but we had eaten too much of the other stuff so there was no room. We will go back over there one more time before we go back home.
Ole time atmosphere even has little jukebox at all the booths. Great Texas Hots fries with brown gravy. They have a pretty good garbage plate. Service is always excellent.
Always Awesome! Especially breakfast!
Well known spot famous for their "Texas Hots" (chili dogs) and original furniture. Onion rings, pies and beef on weck are all excellent. FAST service!! The local guide does not understand why it's so popular? Because it's a historic place (100 years old), many families grew up eating here, and because the food is typical American cooking. Ask the locals!
Service is very friendly and thorough. The food is well priced and everything tastes great. If it's not too busy you can get a meal in just a few minutes since they're so quick. Would always recommend it to travelers as it's a well-known local diner who makes the best Texas hot dogs around.
Been coming here since I was a kid here in the 1980 and when I come back I get one every time
You won't find a better hot dog or milkshake. Outstanding service, food, and prices.
I hadn’t been here in 7 years but all my favorite parts are exactly as they were before. I love the Texas hot dogs and Texas burgers so much. They’re a cash only restaurant, which I forgot about, so we had to skip the milkshakes. Do better than me and plan ahead so you can get the milkshakes!!! They’re so good!!
Can't help but chuckle at the massive review bomb about the vet who wasn't let in due to not having his paperwork for his service dog. Half those people are from all over the country and never even have stepped food in this establishment. But I'm sure they all did thier due diligence and came over and got the full story, as well as tried the food to verify the establishment deserves that 1/5 rating.... As someone who actually goes there and has for the last 30+ years; It's a Great place! Sometimes there's a little wait, but service is quick and tables are cleared quickly. Do be aware its cash only. But my wife and I usually only spend $10, as the food is very well priced. Grab yourself a Texas hot, side of fries and a milkshake, you will not be disappointed!
Always so good french fries and Hots amazing as always! The service is always great. And a Big Shout out to the Gentleman that saw us coming and hurried to open the doors for My Friend and I when we came in as well as when we left. I want to Thank You again! Until You're better paid😊❣️
Delicious Texas red hots and awesome chocolate shake. Fast and friendly service. Worth the 110 mile motorcycle lunch ride.
Great food! Everyone knows about their hotdogs 🌭.. but try their Texas hotburgers. add in their great French fries with brown gravy 😋!
Great place! Definitely will return. Couldn't have had better service.
This was our FIRST visit to the famous Texas Hot Restaurant. Everything was wonderful. Definitely an old time Diner experience. Jukeboxes in the booths. The Menu had lots of choices. Prices were reasonable, They had a large Specials board on the wall. Our waitress was nice and the food came out quick! Cash only establishment - remember that !!!
I grew up with this local restaurant and absolutely love coming back to eat here every time I visit my childhood home. The milkshakes (especially the malts!) are delicious!! My husband and father-in-law are both from NYC and get excited to try this local diner when they visit upstate NY—the hotdogs are always a big hit with them. The fries! 😍😍 they are just YUM!! Taste great with brown gravy 👍🏼 Great service! The staff is friendly and helpful—we were there with small children and the waitress was very accommodating and helpful. If you appreciate a good old-fashioned diner then you will not be disappointed at the Texas Hot!!
I live a long ways away from this place but go to this town on Saturdays for work. Stopped in for lunch on break. Place is awesome, old fashioned diner style. Always busy but the staff never misses a beat. I had a Texas hot, deluxe cheeseburger, and fries. Everything was excellent! My waitress, Joy, was amazing! I wish every waitress was as on the ball as she is, she took care of everything and anything and was perfect, couldn't have asked for anything more. My bill came to about 12 bucks, I gave her a 20 and left. She deserved it!
This place is a personal treasure for me. I can't get a better chili dog elsewhere. From going here as a kid regularly with my Mother, to driving in from hours away just to get some sauce to go, this place makes the Motherland worth visiting still. Can't wait to bring my children into town to share the same delight.
Like most people, I'd been traveling to this place for many a year to have one of their texas hots remember from my childhood, and it looks the same exact the way it did when I was a little kid, many, many years ago. Hope it never changes...
I have been visiting this restaurant for decades. Prices have always been nice. Roughly $5 to $6 a person if ordering their famous Texas Hots. There are other grilled items on the menu. Burgers and what not. Menu ranges from $5 to $10 dollars a person. Service is always exceptional. No one i have ever met has said they have had a bad experience eating here. However I would advise eating between 2pm and 4pm in between lunch and dinner when it is less busy. Eating during dinner hours you may have to wait 20 to 30 mins for a table.
The signature meal is of course the hot dog with special chili sauce, mustard and onions. Even doing a keto diet, once every other month is a nice break. The restaurant has been in business over 100 years, so you know they're doing it right. Old time stools at the counters and real juke boxes in the booths. Many famous visitors over the years. Check them out.
My husband read about this restaurant & had to visit. They've been in business over 100 yrs. Simple small town diner with a great menu selection, fast & friendly service. The prices are cheap compared to other diners. I had a hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes for 8.95. The sandwich was full of tender thin sliced beef & they didn't skimp on the potatoes. My husband had 2 texas hots he said were only 2.50 each. He comented their hot sauce was delicious. The diner is clean with easy entry for handicapped having no steps. However inside is small with limited seating so go early if you plan to dine inside. Sept.2022
Me and my friends came to Texas hots in Wellsville, New York, the best. Texas hots around and the fries are delicious. And their soda is good. This is the first time we've been here and they make the best Texas hots in Wellsville, even around where I'm from arcade or depew, NY. You do have to wear a mask when you go inside and you can use their bathroom, it's really nice inside. And I got the point size sauce, 2 of them. Can't wait to go back again soon. Oh yeah, parking is free on Sunday, you do have to love that.
I preferred the cheeseburger hot over the Texas hot. The burger was cooked perfectly, crisp and juicy. And the sauce, cheese and onions only enhanced the awesomeness of the burger. The fries with gravy were a little bland, needed salt and pepper. The service was great and the vibe of the restaurant was chill. Being cash or check was a little inconvenient. The closest ATM nearby was a bank around the corner.
An old time hot dog diner. A Texas Hot is a hot dog with mustard, Frank's Red Hot sauce, meatsauce and onions. Whenever I travel, I like to sample the local cuisine. The dogs were good, but surprisingly not hot. The service team was speedy and helpful. The atmosphere was great with a long counter with stools and wooden booths for 2 and some for 4 people. I would recommend.
This hog dog counter shop has been open for 100 years!!! Still packed everyday!! Cash - only though!!
Love this place! My wife told me about how she would eat here a lot when she was younger. We went and it was fantastic. Love the personal in-booth old-school record jukebox that you can play music from. It's very diner-themed with the push button call for waiter/waitress, they call out your order to the cooks, and menu. Doesn't disappoint.
The Texas Hot is still what it’s always been. An unpretentious, homey, value based, family owned, comfort food restaurant. It may have its bad moments like any business, but they’re always willing to make it right if your experience isn’t what you expected. Nothing has changed here. Still a great night out!
My dad is from Arkport, NY and the day after Thanksgiving he visited. We went shopping. My dad asked were we should go for lunch. I said how about Texas Hot. He had a nice time. He enjoyed a few Hots and I had a delicious toasted cheese sandwish. Thank you for your excellent customer service. Kudos for all of your hard work 🏅.
Greatest restaurant ever. Always look forward to going back.
Had to go to Wellsville for a meeting, decided to grab takeout for the hubby & I on my way home. I was super excited to see they had a garbage plate, and I was not disappointed!!! The meatsauce was tasty, mac salad was good, and the cheeseburgers were on point. As this is obviously a lot of food, I got to enjoy it a second time as well!! Highly recommend, looking forward to my next opportunity to head there again!!
Just by chance while on a motorcycle trip earlier this year, we decided to pull off Hwy 417 and ride through Wellsville. When I saw "Texas Hot" on Main Street, we had to stop. Turned out to be one of the best places on our 8,000 mile trip. Food was Excellent and we had a jukebox in our booth! Try the pie. Highly recommend.
Still a value. The sauce is better at J Allen’s in Olean but the vibes are elite in this diner. You feel like you’re in a different time and it was as good as it supposedly was then. The food is excellent. Servers are great. Shakes are huge.
It is a long standing tradition to go here. It had been a lo n g time since. I was there last. Out to lunch with family fun was had by all. Our server was great.
Okay, I was home for a class reunion and completed the trip down memory lane by stopping at the Texas Hot and getting the signature Texas Hot, a hot dog with a hamburger chili sauce covering it. I also got a Texas hamburger and fries and gravy, and a great vanilla milkshake. Notice it's not poutine, because in this part of New York they don't put any cheese on it. But it's still damn good! Things haven't changed much, it's still the same place I remember working at several decades ago. I'm glad it's still there, because forming memories for people is what a place like the Texas Hot is all about. Here's to Texas Hot's 100th anniversary. To Gus and Jim and the rest of the Texas Hot team, past and present, for help serving up memories as well as good food.
Great place to eat. Friendly staff and the hots are the best!!
The food was amazing, you could tell it was all real lnot prepacked shipped in microwave dinner stuff... The French fries were done perfectly and were not from frozen but from fresh potatoes topped with gravy... Super delicious... The desserts are definitely home made not some powder from a box or Apple's from a can kind of dessert...the atmosphere of "ole school" definitely takes ya back in time when life was simple all the way down to the dishes they serve your food on ... And the waitress we had was so sweet so kind and was on every table without any issues or complaints, jus pure pleasurable... My husband and I enjoyed a hour back in time ate good homemade American food and enjoyed the juke box that each booth has and the music matches the era of the restaurant... Definitely a 💯 all the way around
Absolutely a must go place if your visiting town. I'm sure most people who live in a 10 mile radius eat here at least once or twice a month. I get food and a strawberry shake and take it to my mom at the nursing home at least every other week. One of her favorite places to eat even now.
First time having these Texas hot hot dogs and burgers and milkshakes . Amazing. The service was fast and thorough. But also friendly. Will be driving 1 hour and 45 min back to wellsville to get more asap
CASH ONLY. Go a few doors down to an ATM, it's worth it. If you're not local & are lucky enough to be passing closer to or through Wellsville; go to the Texas Hot. Get yourself a Texas Cheeseburger or a classic Texas Hot, order a side of dirty fries (fries with gravy), put some coins into the jukebox at your table, & relax while the locals chat around you. I don't eat animal at all, except for one Texas Cheeseburger when I get home for a visit. CASH ONLY. Tip the staff & grab a jar of Texas hot sauce to take home with you.
The hot dogs were great as usual. The unique Coney Island type sauce is something I look forward to every time I come to town. Mike
Outstanding Food and Service- we stopped in for dinner- very friendly staff, I got the Spaghetti and Meatballs special - the sauce was homemade with large chunks of tomatoes. The bread was soft and delicious. It was only $9.25. My wife got the soup and a Texas Hot. Both delicious as well. Very reasonable pricing in today’s world. Our total bill was $17.16. We will definitely be back! A++++
One of our favorite places to eat in the area. Reliable, friendly, delicious. Aubrey was wonderful tonight as our server. She was definitely a highlight for us!!
An incredible little diner located in downtown Wellsville excellent and a supremely skilled and attentive staff. This place serves an incredible Texas red hot and delicious fresh pies they're coffee is the perfect thing to go with their cuisine. They even had a vegan option on their menu which is amazing for a small town diner.
This place is awesome and harkens back to the old lunch counters of days gone by. The namesake Texas Hots were fantastic! The meat sauce was delicious and I picked up a pint to go. The menu is extensive and the place is hopping so you know it must be good! Staff was attentive and very friendly.
My buddy suggested we go here for lunch....88 miles each way. I thought he was crazy, but let's do it. We sat at the counter as all booths were taken. I am glad we did. I enjoyed watching the hustle …

Wow! This place is a gem! If you like burgers and hots you need to come here. Old school charm and excellent service!
Food was amazing, service was awesome and the place was very well clean. 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.
A fantastic throwback restaurant which serves amazing Texas hots as well as breakfast and daily specials.\nThe interior reminded me of my childhood going out to eat lunch with my grandmother. Just …
Our first time at this restaurant since moving to the area. It is like going back in time. Original wood floors and booths, jukebox at each table, small but comfortably seats everyone. I remember …
Texas hot has always been a great place to enjoy a home style meal. Plus of course the name sake. Chilly hotdogs. Amazing. Great staff.

The food was great, came out fast, and the restaurant and bathroom were clean. My waitress was very rushed, set plates down, and took off. I didn't go to drive thru window. We went to set down for meals, but my only complaint would be to slow your waitress down there is fast and efficient, then there is fast food places. We felt like we were in the drive thru.
There is better burgers in wellsville. Texas hots appeal is in its atmosphere, wait staff, speed of service and the fact that everyone goes there... There is always someone to bump into.
Had two Texas Hot Dogs...I ordered two Texas, ft Long, hot dogs. Meat Sauce with onions. Waitress took my order. I paid. The waitress gave me two regular size hot dogs, in Texas style meat sauce. I informer her that I ordered foot longs. She then informed me that they don't do foot longs. But she would pass on my request to management. Really? After how many years have you told Ny that's a Texan? I complement their meat sauce. It's excellent. They should just sell there sauce too go.
This is a historic diner you don't want to miss. Yes they have hot dogs with Texas hot sauce. But they have so much more! We stopped after my musician husband had finished a gig and we were looking for somewhere to get a bite to eat. It was 8pm and we were so glad to find them open! My husband had the roast beef dinner and I had a ham steak dinner. Both were delicious!
I am a self proclaimed food critic with 5+ years of experience, I’ve have been to a lot of small joints like this in the past, I must say I’m quite impressed with the pies, they were amazing! However I will say for the hotdog they are famous for wasn’t as spicy as expected but the wheat cakes were amazing, the price is right and I would recommend it to anyone passing by this small little town
Really nice place. Really good food. We had the lightly fried haddock and lightly fried scallops. Yum! Amazing coleslaw! Fries were also very very good! The desert pies (coconut cream, banana cream, strawberry rhubarb) were just OK. Great atmosphere with the little jukeboxes at each booth. Excellent experience 👏
The 2 tex hots and cheese burger were on our table within 2 minutes of placing the order. My burger was really fresh and amazing. The tex hots looked like the needed a bowl and spoon, but the tex meat sauce wasn't the same as it was many many years ago. (It's been a long time) it isn't chili sauce. The waitress was wonderful. She was friendly, quick, polite, and accurate. The prices (just like any other place) have gone way way up.
This place is a must stop, just because it is like stepping into a time machine. I tried the Texas Hots. They are just hot dogs with a special Texas Sauce on them. I probably like Sheetz hot dogs better, but I also didn't get the onions and mustard which might be the key to brining out the flavor of the sauce. Anyhow, the people are so friendly it is like I landed back in Mayberry with Andy.
Stop in here on occasion when I'm riding my motorcycle down this way. Have always enjoyed the food here and the atmosphere and the people!
Food is good diner food. Wait staff is friendly. Only take cash
Happy to see the Texas Hots were much improved from our last visit... fries were a little dry but fresh. Waitress was super patient while we waited for a straggler. A must stop every time we're in the area. Try the coconut cream pie...
Very small quaint place . Food was quick tasted good. Kinda takes you back in time. It is a cash only place so if you go no cards accepted. I'm sure it helps keep costs down.
A long walk into the old times back when my Grandparents was young there was even jukeboxes on the wall with old singers like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash and more from older times the place is old looking that's what I love about it and everything about it is just Wonderful it's like you're walking in a Wonderland into the older times and I love how old it looks and the food is amazing I love the Texas Hot Sauce and the Is Texas Hot Cheeseburgers and the Hotdogs to the sweet potato fries are amazing and most of all the Vanilla pepsi I can't find that anywhere these days but they still have it very good place to go to with baby, children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and older people very good place I give about four and a half star.
A Step Back in Time. This place brought back a lot of good memories. Loved the mini jukeboxes. Awesome 50's style menu. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and french fries w/gravy. The server probably wasn't having a good day as she seemed a bit brusk and a little more guidance with my choices, like if I wanted onions or not and if I wanted shoestring cut fries or a different cut.
Great old dinner on Main Street has been there for allot of years American menu comfort food malted milk shakes yum you won't be disappointed.

Classic fast food served in a friendly, hometown diner. A happening spot for Wellsville.

We went for breakfast,. The food was really good, and large portions. The pricing very affordable!
they used to have great hot dogs here.... zweigles hot dogs.... went there over the weekend.... they served hot dogs that looked like pencils... not zweigles and they were not good... either go back …
I was so disappointed with the food we got at this restaurant. I have eaten there for many years and wonder where the quality went. Sent some food back, just didn’t eat some. At the high cost, so discouraging! Will never take my visitors there again, or probably won’t go myself. The excuse the waitress gave - “ It’s the new help.”
First time visiting. I've lived in this area for almost 30 years and never stopped by. My wife had flashbacks to when she was a kid with her grandfather eating here. I thought the food was okay... I've had better. But the old-style community vibe was nice. A lot of history in this place that many would love. The service was very quick and very friendly. I would return to try something else.
Prices are decent, the menu is hit or miss. I was in town for 2 days, the first day I went to Texas Hots and got the ribs, they were fantastic! Fantastic! The second day I went and got the roast beef with sweet potato fries, it was awful! The roast beef was cold and the sweet potato fries were soggy.
Service was great! Texas hots aren't as good as they used to be, watery , bland etc. But lots of other tasty choices and the old building has lots of charm.
Avoided this place since I thought it was a unique hot foodie kind of place. Boy was I wrong. Nice traditional diner that services so much more. staff was friendly, cooks were fast. To fast...they …
Stopped in with family for a quick dinner. Everyone agrees this is an average location. Five star? Please. Be sure to bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.
ive been coming here for 50 years. it was always good but its definitely gone down. prices too high. food not as good as it was, just sad to see another landmark go down. Modern Diner is better and cheaper
The cashier was wearing food safety gloves, took our cash, gave us our change back, then touched our food without changing gloves, contaminating the food with whatever could have been on the nasty cash. They only accept cash so you can’t escape getting contaminated food bc they don’t change their gloves from food to money.
I've been in a lot of diners and Texas hot rates a near the bottom. Food with blah, waitress was great and another downfall for them is they only take cash only, so are they hiding money would be my first thought. Would not recommend and I Won't Go Back
Grew up around here. Back home for the holidays. What a shame food used to be good. Sauce to the onions and the bread all second rate. I know the next generation is running it. They need some old school grit to bring it back. People I grew up with have mentioned also it isn’t what it used to be. Atmosphere is the same. Food has fallen a few notches and prices have gone way up.
Trash! I don't like melted plastic in my gravy, fries need to be whole fries I don't pay for leftover chips, and... The Texas hotts suck.
I personally observed an incident where Texas Hot management directly violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and mistreated a highly decorated combat veteran. Despite the patron being a Congressionally and Presidentially recognized former member of SEAL Team Six, he was treated with hostility and refused dine-in service due to his service animal. The self-identified owner harassed the Veteran, demanding medical documentation and training papers, a request that is a direct violation of federal ADA law. When the Veteran attempted to respectfully educate the owner on these legal protections, he was aggressively chased out of the establishment. It is staggering that a business would refuse service and harass a national hero who has been formally recognized at the highest levels of our government for his service. This establishment’s refusal to follow accessibility laws and their blatant disrespect toward the Veteran community is unacceptable. I strongly advise patrons, especially Veterans and those with disabilities, to take their business elsewhere.
The food is so bland and flavorless. I use to go here as a kid and it was awesome taste and the service was good. Now? Bland food, small portions and the waitresses? Jeez. Inconsistent staff, tables and floors are sticky. It’s a shame cause it’s the same family that started another restaurant in the area and I love their food.
I've been coming to Wellsville New York and visiting Texas Hot for 30 plus years for their Famous Fish Fry and brought quite a few friends along with me. The fish has always been excellent and sticking out over the ends of the plate and the creamy coleslaw was outstanding. However my most recent trip as of the other day was very discouraging. The plates are smaller, the fish is smaller and greasier, the french fries were disgusting, most were less than an inch long and had black spots. It looked like they were scraped off the floor next to the Deep fryer. That wonderful creamy coleslaw wasn't wonderful anymore. It looked and tasted like a dish of shredded cabbage with a cup of milk poured over it with nothing more than excessive salt added. I don't think I'll be going back anymore. Now I understand why the locals don't Rave about the place anymore but prefer the little diner down the street.
