Opinions de Brendan's Westlake Village
Excellent family business that is very high quality. Food options are tremendous. I will be enjoying going back to this restaurant again
Food service and vibe were top notch. Prices not bad, portions huge and delicious
Very busy place, but the reason it's so busy is that the food is great! Anything from salads to eggs to pancakes and waffles, to specialties of a Jewish deli is available and served quickly and accurately. Great deli counter, too, with cold cuts, fish, and baked goods available.
I tell everyone about how efficiently this place runs - so now you know it too. The food is as good as it can be and the people are great. Nice to see people of all stripes enjoying a good down home New York style Jewish deli meal. Nicely done.
We had the customized build your omelette with avocado and pepper jack cheese.. the everything bagel with lox and cream cheese, and a vanilla latte. Our waitress was very kind and helpful, the atmosphere is very family-oriented with large tables. Will definitely come again.
Loved my first time at Brent’s. We were in need of a big breakfast after a night out. This was one of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had. I also shared the challah French toast which was crispy and delicious. Highly recommend
Food and service top notch. Really can't go wrong with any of the selections. Breakfast ✅️ - Eggs, Omelets, Brunch plates (choice of Fish) Lunch ✅️ - best Tuna Melt and their potato salad and fries are delicious Dinner ✅️ - recommend the Grinder plate if you're super hungry. Burgers are always cooked as requested.
You've got to love BRENT'S.* Serving delicious, New York style deli in a comfortable California style restaurant. We ordered take-out, by phone, to be shared with our New York City friends. (When we inform them that we were serving deli our skeptical friends stated, "There are very few great delicatessens west of NY.) Except for the bread, the order was ready on time and was correct. Brent's double baked rye bread makes any sandwich at least twice as good, so we ordered a loaf, The counterman waited until we arrived, then sliced the still warm loaf, on a rotary slicer, one slice at a time, for perfect cuts. It took about three minutes. We grabbed a couple of slices, before wrapping. A selection of condiments is available at the pickup counter. Best of all, everything is packed properly for our 4-hour trip. Our friends will assemble their own corned beef/pastrami sandwiches. I use the double baked rye with my homemade, vegan roast beef slices. Our meal was completed with Brent's with new dill pickles, and my homemade, vegan potato no salad. To quote our surprised friends, "It's about as good as the delis back home." Of course, I should point out, their sandwiches were 3 inches thick and they took the leftovers. Parking is wheelchair accessible, as is the eatery. * The family run Brent's has been named the number one deli in the Los Angeles area by Zagat Survey and the Los Angeles Times Reader's Choice. This is the second deli in the Brent's family. The original Brent's Deli was purchase from its previous owner in 1967 for $1,700. The name was not changed. Ron and Patricia Peskin have a son named Brent.
Just had dinner at Brent’s. This place has a lively friendly diner vibe with an amazing menu. Holly our waitress was attentive & helpful. We ate the Herb Roasted Lamb chops with mash potatoes green beans & side salad with rye bread . the chops were hands down best we have had in a long time well cooked & every bite was tasty. We have had lamb chops all over at fine dining restaurants these were right up there and I would say better !!! We also got the Dori ( Greek) salad which was a nice dinner portion with every bite having the tomato red onion olives and feta with the house made balsamic and bagel chips on the side. Delicious. Do not miss bringing your family or loved one’s to This family owned deli & restaurant .
A Pastrami Lover’s Dream at Brent’s Delicatessen! 🥪🔥 If you're a fan of classic deli sandwiches, do yourself a favor and get to Brent’s Delicatessen & Restaurant — and order the pastrami sandwich. It’s not just a meal... it’s a full-on experience. From the first bite, you know you're tasting something special. The pastrami is incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and stacked high — juicy, smoky, and just the right balance of lean and fat. You can tell it's been slow-cooked to perfection. The rye bread is fresh and flavorful, with just enough structure to hold up to the mountain of meat without falling apart. The portion? Let’s just say you won’t leave hungry. This sandwich is huge — classic New York-style size. It comes with a crunchy kosher pickle and a side (I went with their crispy onion rings — also excellent). The vibe at Brent’s is warm, welcoming, and always buzzing — a true neighborhood gem that knows how to do deli right. Service is fast and friendly, and the menu is packed with traditional favorites. But honestly, even if you came here just for the pastrami sandwich, you’d walk away satisfied. Worth every bite. Can’t wait to come back and try it again!
Probably the best deli in Ventura county. The food is great. They have a large selection of things to choose from. I typically get sandwiches and am never disappointed. However, the last time I ate there, the pickles tasted terrible. The pastrami in their pastrami sandwiches is outstandingly flavorful.
If you’re craving a perfect pastrami experience, Brent’s Deli absolutely delivers. I ordered the Black Pastrami Reuben and it was incredible — tender, juicy, and packed with deep smoky flavor. The meat was stacked high, perfectly seasoned, and the rye bread was grilled just right. Every bite was rich and satisfying. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their ingredients. Highly recommend this sandwich — it’s a standout on the menu and worth every bite!
This is THE PLACE! You will look at the menu and be mad you have to decide between several things you want to order. I'm literally planning to visit multiple times on my next trip just so I can have more things on the menus! Service is fantastic, and you feel like your grandma is in the kitchen cooking!
I have been to delis in New York City and Miami Beach and this is in the same category. The Reubens and pastrami sandwiches are big, but not colossal. They are very filling but not cheap. Table service was excellent and speedy. They bring a few pickles with every meal and those did not disappoint. The atmosphere is busy but the high ceilings make it seem not quite so crowded despite the high volume of people moving in and out at any given time. Any visit here will not leave you going away hungry.
What a wonderful family business! The owner Ron was there greeting all his guests. They have been in business since 1967 and for the first year and a half he made every sandwich. The food and service was fantastic. I got the black pastrami Rubin and it was delicious. We decided to get the carrot cake, it was HUGE! Really good as well.
We visited Brent’s Restaurant for a quick meal. The food was okay and came out very fast, which is great if you’re in a hurry. Overall, the food was decent and the place is fine for a casual stop. However, the service was not very friendly, and some of the staff had visibly dirty clothes, which didn’t leave the best impression. Because of that, the experience felt less pleasant than it could have been. Overall, it’s an okay spot for quick food, but the service and cleanliness could definitely be improved.
I feel like the original location in Northridge is just a little better, but my wife says it's all in my head/nostalgia. The food was very good, don't get me wrong, but i just think you get a little more and a little better at the Northridge one. I would still come happily here though; like i said, the food was very good.
This deli and restaurant in one is a great place to find some good eats! We ordered the Monte Cristo and The 555. The Monte Cristo was fantastic and came with jelly and potato salad. The 555 was good, although the pastrami was very fatty in certain sections, and the bottom layer of the sandwich was mushy. It had good flavor, I would have skipped the thousand island dressing on the sandwich, but that is just my preference. Nice atmosphere, and the outside patio was relaxing and enjoyable on a lovely summer day.
I’ve been a long-time customer of Brent's both here and in Northridge. I usually have great experiences here, which is why this visit stood out. I sat at the counter for the first time the day after Christmas, so I understand it was especially busy. That said, I felt overlooked. My drink was never refilled, and when I tried to ask for things, the server often moved on before I could finish my request. I also wanted to place a to-go order but didn’t get the chance. I also noticed other customers at the counter were checked on and helped more consistently, while I struggled to get a refill or finish a request, which added to the frustration. On top of that, the pastrami wasn’t as good as it usually is (it’s normally a favorite). When I briefly mentioned my experience while paying, there didn’t seem to be much interest, which was disappointing. I’m hoping this was just an off day due to the holiday rush, because I really do value this place and want to keep coming back.
Brent’s Delicatessen is a solid, reliable spot if you’re craving classic deli food in Westlake Village. The menu is extensive, with generous portions and all the staples you’d expect—sandwiches, soups, breakfast items, and traditional deli favorites. The food quality is good overall, especially the soups and sandwiches, which are filling and well-prepared. That said, the experience can feel hit-or-miss. Service is generally friendly, but during busy times it can be slow and a bit disorganized. The restaurant is almost always crowded, which speaks to its popularity, but it can make dining in feel hectic and loud. Prices are also on the higher side, which is understandable given the portion sizes, but it does set expectations a bit higher.
The pastrami / corned beef triple decker, that I always get here was good enough; but, the pastrami had quite allot more fat than I recall. But, overall the food and the waiter were good. It was the last young woman, that rung me up - right by the entrance, that was so rude. It ruined the whole experience, and made me regret coming. I don't know, I think that everyone is allowed to have bad days. But, when it makes you think "I should have just gone to another place"; it's not how you want to feel leaving a restaurant / deli.
Paid $60 for two sandwiches, which was very disappointing. The roast beef was dry, and both the meat and the au jus lacked any flavor. Definitely not worth the price, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
The past three times I've been there whatever I ordered was served wrong and cold. The servers have been rude, and if it's anywhere near their closing time, they rush you out without any questions and will get upset if you tell them they served you the entirely wrong order. Additionally they will not accept cash sometimes because they like to close the registers down while they are still open \ customers are still there. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, hopefully things will change. If they want to leave at 8pm, they should seat the last people at 7pm, and have a 7pm closing time, and not hold a grudge if customers come walk in with 30-40 min of the posted closing time.
