Opinions de Durango's Wimberley
Super underrated Mexican spot! The tacos are super yummy and well priced. The enchilada plate is one of my favorites. You won’t regret anything you get. Also menudo on weekends.l🔥👀don’t miss that!
I've only been here (3 times) for breakfast. Great breakfast plates and tacos. My friend likes the weekend menudo.
Fantastic food and fast friendly service. We had lunch there and everyone was happy with what they got.
Absolutely love their chips and people and food and yummmy!!!! My new obsession!! Wish I hadn’t waited so long to try them! Amazing!!!!
I’m from a border town, and this is one of the few places that reminds me of the food back home. It’s authentic, and tastes like a home cooked meal that i would have with my own family back home. I appreciate how the tortillas are made fresh, and the place definitely has one of the best carne guisadas and enchiladas in the area. I don’t even live in Wimberley (it’s about a hour away from where i live) but whenever i pass by, i make sure to stop by here. The place seems to be family owned and operated, which i think is really great too. The waitress I had the last time i went was young, but she was incredibly nice and did her job well, asking if we needed anything extra and so on. I made sure to tip her well, as we were checking out, and while i put the money in the tip jar, the young man at the register wanted to make sure our waitress got her tip directly which i think was very kind of him. The community of Wimberley is lucky to have such a great, and delicious, hidden gem in their beautiful town.
We love breakfast at Durangos ! Plenty of food and the ladies who work here are the best!!! The Mexican food I’d delicious!!
Clean & friendly Mexican food establishment with a variety of delishious selections, and they have house-made tortillas. They serve fresh hot chips and two different salsa's, one is super spicy, the other more mild. Table service, pay at the counter.
Was in town for a wedding. Looking for something off the tourist row. Found this great restaurant. Had breakfast. Very good food. Great service!! While we were there, some Mariachis came in. That was an added bonus. After a walk on Cypress Creek, went back for lunch. Good prices. Would definitely recommend if you are in town or just passing through.
A Wimberly Must If you are in Wimberly for any reason you have e to plan on a meal at Durango’s. Small Texas town Authentic Mexican Food This is not beef enchiladas with two cups chili powder and three cups of taco seasonings for flavor. This is the real deal. There is a reason why the place was packed on a Saturday at 12pm. Locals and folks from out of town know about this gem. There was also a steady flow of vehicles getting drive thru service. If you are looking for Tex Mex chain style food this is not where you are going to find it. Atmosphere is perfect. Not a huge restaurant, in fact you can tell they started small and have expanded over time. The food was perfect. Reminded me of my grandmother’s home made enchiladas. Service staff was awesome. Very professional and nice. Everyone was smiling. We will be back and plan on having their breakfast next time. It always available. If you appreciate and enjoy homemade Mexican food, this is your place to go when in Wimberley.
Hidden Gem Alert: Durango Serves Up Flavor, Freshness, and Friendliness! You haven’t had Mexican food until you’ve eaten at Durango—this place delivers on every level! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel like I was being welcomed into someone’s home. It’s cozy, clean, and clearly a favorite among locals—not a tourist trap, which means no inflated prices or gimmicks, just seriously good food. I got there early and enjoyed the calm atmosphere, but I can see why it gets busy—it’s that popular. The service was impressively fast, and every bite tasted fresh and flavorful. Portions were generous, and the prices? Shockingly fair. Nothing overpriced, just great value for food that could easily cost more elsewhere. To top it off, paying the bill was quick and hassle-free. If you’re anywhere near Durango and craving Mexican, don’t miss this spot. It’s real food, served right. Five stars without hesitation!
I’m from New York City so I don’t know if my opinion carries any weight, but I’ve eaten a lot of breakfast tacos passing through Texas and these were fantastic. I got migas and potato chorizo. The tortilla chips are very light and airy which makes the migas nice and fluffy. Potatoes nice and crispy. Some of the best flour tortillas I’ve had. Salsa excellent, prices low. Great food and value.
The Super Durangos Burger was so good I forgot to take a picture before I ate it! That should tell you something. The server was very attentive to our needs and very helpful! I would recommend trying this place our. It’s a hole in the wall restaurant but so worth it. I can’t wait to come back here again!
Enjoy Durango’s often and they have really become a staple of Wimberley. 1. The tortillas and beans are absolutely delicious and homemade. 2. My favorite is bean and cheese on corn add fresh sweet onions. Money saver and very filling. 3. The enchiladas, rice & beans plate is another favorite…the enchilada sauce is so yummy!. 4. Knowing that this small family run business has had to close multiple times due to multiple issues out of their control (Covid) I hope everyone that lioves TexMex will support this little gem in Wimberley.
I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to put my two cents in. We have enjoyed dining there over 20 times .... we usually go for breakfast. This is not your typical five star franchise, it's a mom- and pop-style restaurant, moderately priced. If something is not right, not hot enough, or your waiter isn't waiting on you, speak up. Complaining on reviews because of one bad experience gets you nowhere and not every visit was perfect.
It's a pretty good breakfast place and I like it! I got the pancakes which were pretty good! Their bacon was good. Everything was good and me and my family enjoyed it. I give it 4 stars because its not like the best place I've been to but it was pretty good! I would recommend!
I was actually very excited to try this place. Especially since it’s said authentic Mexican food. I’ll start with the atmosphere. Looks like your topical hole in the wall neighborhood staple. Nothing I’m not used to and that’s actually what drew me in as well. The restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. The staff: My husband sat down while went to the restroom and wash my hands. I came out and no one had greeted him or anything. One employee saw me looking and she turned away. Another turned away as well. Finally the 1st employee looked at me with an attitude and said she’s coming! That doesn’t even deserve a 1 Star! Someone finally came to greet us and took our drink order. She was quiet but still nice and friendly. (Bright red hair) I didn’t get her name since they don’t use name badges. Food - Tortillas cold. Pork chop breakfast was super thing and not filling. The breakfast carne guisada was cold, dry, and the potatoes looked and tasted like yesterday’s breakfast! The one girl from the beginning with the attitude sat on her phone while asking the other girls that were actually working to get her more napkins and to check on her tables. Lazy! It was hard to watch. No name tags but she had an upside down dream catcher on her arm and she’s in the picture. Needless to say I won’t be going back.
I have no idea how this place gets 5 star reviews. To start the service is horrible its pretty obvious they dont run with real management. The girls that serve tables could care less about the experience you get and definitely don't know the definition of hospitality. The food is very hit or miss and they never have the hot salsa, if that's what you want to call it cause it's usually just water that is a little spicy. I will never return to this place and im passing the word around town to everyone I know.
WARNING: you will be served food that may be a week old and microwaved. I promise there has to be kitchen nightmares level activity going on in the back. The staff are nice but the building is decrepit. Just please don't go here. I promise the food is olddddddd. Don't believe the fake reviews. This place is gross!
Food was definitely not fresh, flavor was mid and low quality meat. They only gave me a tiny portion of rice and beans. Gross honestly
