This was the visit that I put my foot down and visited a must do wisconson supper club. Supper Clubs are a walk down memory lane, tha need to be revisited with gusto. First the Speakeasy where it should be, in basments with touches of a bygone sportsman club. With just anough modern touches that it does not feel stuffy. Brandy Old Fashions, local craft beers, and long forgotten cocktails are to be savored while letting the atmosphere relaxes as unwind you from your day. The original House was moved to its current location, then carefully retouched to give the vibe of dinning in someone's home. The menu is a mix of local classics and dishes from past eras. Bacon wrapped dates, a blast from my past were awesome. All dishes were received. One small disappointment, the chicke pot pie was beyond bland.Put some Bells spice blend in it, please. The staff was awesome.
We had a wonderful time at Dawn Manor. The night we dined it was quiet and relaxed. Our waitress was super kind and really fun and we were lucky enough to be given a run down on all the history behind the manor. Our group ordered the dates, meatloaf with mac and cheese, prime rib, and chicken pot pie. Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh. Not to mention the portions were huge! We brought a lot of food home. Before we left we hit up the speakeasy which was such a cool hangout spot. We enjoyed a couple after dinner grasshoppers which were SO incredible. Definitely a meal we won’t forget.
1st time to visit, on our anniversary. Atmosphere was great and history of Dawn Manor was interesting to learn in more detail. Food was flavorful and portions larger than most places serve. My meal was the "Honest Abe All American" Meatloaf w/sautéed veggies, mashed potatoes and Mac & Cheese. Served in a deep plate, more like a large bowl than a flat plate. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly, helpful and courteous. We will definitely visit again!
Everything was superb. I took my family here on a whim because the supper club up the road was too busy and we made an excellent choice! We were seated outside right away and it couldn't have been more perfect! The food was amazing and it was a really special dinner. We thought the history of the place was really neat too!! Don't forget to checkout the speakeasy downstairs!!
Had and amazing dinning experience here. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the walleye and it was just heaven. My boyfriend ordered a steak The was cooked to perfection. Our server Antoni was amazing. Very kind and gave excellent drink and dessert recommendations. It is a beautiful place to eat and the staff was all wonderful.
You must give this a try! We had an enchanting evening at Dawn Manor! It started in the speakeasy with a wonderful bartender and incredible atmosphere plus great drinks. Then we had dinner in the Frank Lloyd Wright room which felt like we were guests in his dining room. We had a charming and very skilled waiter named Sasha from Bulgaria. He was fantastic and the food was nothing short of amazing. I had the Salmon and my husband had the prime rib. Both outstanding in taste and preparation. We were visited by the GM who is a very experienced restaurateur. The Dells area is lucky to have this restaurant. Can’t wait to go back!
My wife and I have wanted to dine here since they opened, it did not disappoint! I had the best Prime Rib I ever had along with a Four Rose's Old Fashioned. My wife very much enjoyed her potato crusted Walleye. We ended with the Pop Rock Cheesecake. Our waiter, Ozan was the best; and the owner also stopped by our table for a nice conversation. We will definitely eat here again.
Stopped in here for a late lunch, not too crowded at 3 in the afternoon. This building is very historic, a lot of the history is displayed on the walls. The entire staff was extremely nice, told us to go ahead and tour the manor after lunch. We started our meal with the Burrata Caprese, presentation was beautiful, cheese was soft and salty (good) the tomatoes and roasted garlic just right, and warm chewy bread. Excellent!!! The Chicken Melt was very tender and moist, and the bacon was really good. The Prime Rib Cheese Steak was large chunks of tender lean meat. Probably don't need the fries on it, onion straws would be much better, but the sandwich was still a good choice. Lastly, the Uppy Burger was wonderful - full stop! I ordered it medium, and it came perfectly cooked, a little pink in the middle, the beef had that umami taste that I just can't duplicate at home. The portions are huge, so we had to pass on dessert, but they looked great. The prices are much more affordable than the other supper club on Mirror Lake, and they take reservations, so no 2 hour wait. However, the "on Mirror Lake" is a little overstated, not the views like the other supper club. I would highly recommend Dawn Manor to anyone. I took the service down 1 star because they clearly are still learning, having been open for only 2 weeks, a little awkward delivering and clearing. I'm sure they will be at 5 stars very soon.
My son said I should put 7 Million stars, but Google doesn't let me. We had the most wonderful evening at the new Dawn Manor. We started with happy hour drinks and appetizers in the downstairs Speakeasy. The cheese curds were definitely noteworthy! The Dream soda samples at the start of our meal upstairs were a nice touch and definite kid pleaser. For dinner, I had the Salmon and it was perfection. My oldest had the kid's burger and said he wanted to give his compliments to the chef. (Yes...in those words, haha) So they brought him to the kitchen and he told the chef it was the best burger he'd ever had and got a high five. Our server was brand new and did a great job. The entire team seemed friendly and eager to help. For dessert they offered mini dessert cups for $5 each. (Reservations are accepted - we recommend snagging one) They even have a small Sundries Shoppe with unique items to browse.
Loved our late lunch at Dawn Manor! The food was excellent, the old fashioned was great, and they were even kind enough to give us a tour! Every room and each bar was thoughtfully designed. Our server was very kind and all the staff was very attentive. It was pricy, but worth it! Will definitely be back for a future special occasion.
Although we arrived early for our 5pm reservation, we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Jam, was attentive and provided outstanding service. We began our meal with the spiked dream soda, Steak Crostini, and shared the house salad, then proceeded to the Shrimp garlic pasta plate. A Grasshopper dessert rounded out our meal. Our dining experience, from being seated to finishing our meal, spanned 30-45 minutes. The service, atmosphere, and cuisine all exceeded our expectations, with Jam and the supporting staff providing exceptional service. On our next visit, we plan to try the salmon dish.
A hidden gem, sure to become a hit! They have several different themed rooms. My family and I ate in the Haunted Room. For a treat, our server Sasho gave us a complimentary butterscotch soda to start. Delicious, but very sweet. They call it the Dream Soda, after the owner's dream of turning this building into a restaurant. My sister ordered a spiked version of this Dream Soda, with spiced rum. I ordered a brandy old fashioned, along with an espresso martini after dinner, both of which were very tasty. For dinner, my mom had the walleye, my sister got the chicken pot pie, and I ordered the salmon. All three were delicious. My sister loved the taste, but the pie was too hot to eat initially, so she felt awkward finishing a while after my mom and myself were already done. The one critique I would give, is to get proper dessert menus. Our server gave us a presentation of tiny dessert cups, which admittedly looked tasty, but insubstantial. As soon as they arrived, I was already weighing my options as to other locations nearby to get a proper dessert. And then when we turned down the dessert cups, almost as an afterthought, he mentioned several actual desserts, like a volcano cake or creme brulee. But after I already turned down the little desserts, it felt awkward getting a bigger dessert. It's understandable given they just opened two weeks ago as of writing, but a paper dessert menu with all the options would go a long way. Apart from that, I had a great time here. Delicious food, impeccable service, and a lovely atmosphere.
We came up for Memorial Day weekend and Decided to drive by to see the Progress. To our surprise they were open!! So we decided to stop and grab some Dinner. We were greeted with warm welcomes immediately approaching the entrance. Once in we were told they were full at the moment for dinner but if we would like to visit the speakeasy and have some drinks and appetizers a table would be available in about an hour! This is what we generally expect anywhere we just pop in. The speakeasy is beautiful and so unique my favorite room😍. Drinks were delicious, My fave was the Big River!! Dinner did not disappoint. Everything was great! The best part of the entire experience was the people. Every one was so friendly and happy to be there. Our waiter was the frosting on the cake refreshing to see someone who loves what he does!! We will be back to try more drinks on the menu and that Ribeye!!😍
My husband and I were so excited to try Dawn Manor! The food was amazing! The resturant, bar, and speakeasy are all beautiful. The outdoor space is beautifully surrounded by tall pines. A truly unique place. We enjoyed the potato soup, steak crostinis, Harper pasta, All American and of course ordered Poprocks cheesecake to-go. The cheesecake is amazing, totally recommend! We can't wait to go back! Hats off to Chefs Justin & Jayson!
What can I say about Dawn Manor Restaurant, Bar & Speakeasy. JUST WOW!!!!! WOW! WOW! WOW! Dawn Manor is a fine example of what a 5 star restaurant should be. It is just amazing. Fantastic. Delicious. Perfect. Awesome. Incredible. We didn’t know about them before this trip. A good friend on my social media page recommended it. I just can’t say WOW enough and I’m so happy we stopped in. It’s hard to find any other restaurant in the area to compare to. Ishnala is the closest comparison and I think Dawn Manor wins. Especially because we only had to wait 3 minutes to be seated. Our wait time was amazing too. They have the most comfortable chairs to wait in. To start off, they are promoting their Dream Soda, so they serve you complementary tastings. I can tell you that it is beyond dreamy. It is AMAZING! It’s hard to describe the flavor. It reminds me of something that would be served in the Harry Potter movie. Mysterious. It kind of has a butterscotch flavor. But I can’t stand butterscotch and I’m head of feet for Dream Soda. There’s nothing else like it. We had the potato soup. It was phenomenal. I didn’t know potato soup could be this good! But it can and Dawn Manor serves it. Then they go and top it off with burnt end bacon pieces and it makes it mind blowing. It put my famous potato soup to shame. So good. We both had the prime rib with lobster tails. Their prime rib is on point. 5 star all of the way. So tender and juicy. The lobster tails were a good size. I’d say 5 oz if I had to guess. They were tender and juicy as well. Everything was cooked to perfection. I tried the leek scallops which I was not a fan of but I ate them anyway. Our service matched the food. Top notch. Ozan was our waiter. He did an amazing job taking care of us and we are very appreciative for the 10 star service. The look of the place is incredible. I love the atmosphere. Next time I will spend more time walking around and appreciating the art and the building. I love history and Dawn Manor has a rich history. Here’s a tidbit. In 1855 Abraham Vanderpoel, a friend of Abraham Lincoln and a signer of the Wisconsin Constitution, purchases land in the former city of Newport, Wisconsin, just a few miles from Mirror Lake and has Dawn Manor built with Potsdam sandstone. From what I understand, there is a hidden speakeasy bar inside. I can’t wait to find it the next time we come. Make sure you take a look around when you are there. That’s my biggest recommendation when you visit. Explore while you are there. We are thankful it was open on the holiday. PLEASE TRY DAWN MANOR!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!
If you haven’t tried Dawn Manor now is the time to do so. It is new. Most people have not discovered it yet, and when they do it will be hard to get a reservation because the food, the service and the atmosphere are far above most places in the Dells. You’d find everything from deviled eggs that aren’t like grandma’s to Lobster rolls that can stand up against those you would get on the east coast . You’ll find small intimate rooms that allow you to have conversations and larger banquet rooms that allow bigger private parties. We highly recommend Dawn Manor for its food and services .
The location is beautiful and the acceptance of reservations makes life so much easier for parents sneaking away for a date night. The food was amazing. Truffle fries are a bit of a pet project I try everywhere I go, these are my new absolute favorite. Server Dimitir was phenomenal. Attentive and efficient without being intrusive and maintained a calm demeanor. We will definitely be back!
Speakeasy is beautiful and so cozy. Beautifully decorated. Nice bar. Great drinks and food. Mocktail was the best ever. Try the deviled eggs. Will be back. Upstairs dining rooms atmosphere is wonderful. Patio overlooking woods. Lots of parking.
Absolutely delicious! The restaurant is gorgeous, elegant and perfect for anytime of day. The Speakeasy is a great way to start off the night with a drink and appetizer. I had the salmon and it was out of this world! So juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The hot honey drizzle made it dynamite!
WHAT AN AWESOME DINNER! Friendly staff and an absolutely beautiful newer construction building. Had a pretty good whisky selection and really great cocktail menu. The steak was cooked and seasoned absolutely perfectly. I'm not sure if they have a professional executive chef, but whoever is back in that kitchen is a master of their craft. They had these neat desert shots too. Overall 10/10 and an incredible meal for the location and reasonable prices.
This is a great place with a fantastic atmosphere and excellent food!! The speakeasy in the basement is a great place to visit and enjoy a cocktail or four!! We really enjoyed our time here and can’t wait for the next visit!! German, Katie and Philip were fantastic bartenders at the speakeasy the night we visited!!
The restaurant is amazing – highly recommended! The food was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. A special thanks to Filip, Bruno, and Mia who served us; they are outstanding waiters and truly make the experience even better. The staff overall was fantastic.
We recently held a company-wide management dinner for about 80 people at the newly opened Dawn Manor in Wisconsin Dells—and it was a truly memorable evening. From start to finish, the staff were exemplary: professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our experience the best it could be. Every detail was handled with care, allowing our team to fully immerse in the evening without any distractions. The food was exceptional—elegantly presented, delicious, and exceeding expectations in both quality and flavor. What made the night even more special were the stories shared by the owner and his wife. Hearing the rich history behind Dawn Manor and the passion that went into bringing it to life added a heartfelt, personal layer that resonated with our entire group. If you're looking for a venue that combines impeccable service, outstanding cuisine, and a warm, historical touch, Dawn Manor is an absolute standout. Highly recommended for any large gathering or special event!
We went for our anniversary and it was so beautiful!! We were put upstairs next to the big window and it was gorgeous! Great staff and amazing food for sure! Will be back again!
Dawn manor is a treat!! Bartender was spot on with my old fashioned. Oh my gosh- the steak and pork chop were cooked perfectly! All of the staff were attentive and friendly. Beautiful views of the river. Can't wait to go back!
A very classy brunch spot in the Dells, reasonably priced and tasty food! Morgan took care of us and made sure we really enjoyed ourselves!
Step back in time to the mid 1800s this elegant house represents back in the day Wisconsin Dells. Great atmosphere filled with historic architecture. Very friendly staff and good food along with classic Wisconsin cocktails.
This was my first trip to Dawn Manor. Saturday evening of our annual girls trip and this was certainly a highlight. Our server Onur was fabulous and made us feel welcome and special with a great sense of humor and excellent care. The Brussel sprouts just GET THEM, they will not disappoint. I may just come back and have those for dinner! The dream soda at the beginning was also a nice touch. Not too sweet and smooth. Our entree meals were very tasty. My 12oz prime rib was excellent, with great flavor. The au ju was super flavorful and not salty which most don’t seem to manage. We decided to share dessert which was a molten lava cake. It was moist, warm and perfect size (smaller cup) versus some of the large desserts that you can get. My sister got a grasshopper that was also pretty amazing. Lastly, the chef came out to talk with our table and share a little of their history and they are looking to serve the area with great food and service. While Ishnala is a great experience this is a wonderful option where you can reserve a table for a specific time. Would certainly return and likely to come back with the hubby for a date night and those Brussel sprouts!
Had a lovely lunch. Tha shrimp Cub was delicious as was the Cheesecake dessert. Kudos to the chef Waitstaff, Matija in particular, was very conscientious and polite The restaurant is unique and tasteful. I would highly recommend for a very pleasing dining experiene
The dining experience started off a little rocky. Walked in and was not greeted as if we were welcome. That was made worse when we said we didn't have a reservation, even though they were not crowded. We were seated upstairs, just outside the Raab room and things improved from there. Kersten was our server, and though new, was very good and attentive. The drinks were good, the old fashion is better than the famous one down the street. We started with the deviled eggs and steak crostini. Both were very good, although the steak was little overcooked. We ordered the prime rib, walleye, meatloaf, burger and chicken. All the entrees were very good, although the chicken was dry and the au gratin potato side was not even warm. Overall, it was a great dining experience. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Other than the host, our experience was great and we will be back.
Great night with family! We ate in the Lincoln room which just fit the 8 of us. It was relaxing and so enjoyable with kids and grandkids. Food was all flavorful and meat was done just right. All the apps, salads, veggies , soup and potatoes were eaten with flourish between enjoyable banter.
We're used to stopping in the Dells and meeting our group at Ishnala, Del-bar or Embers. We decided to try Dawn Manor Restaurant, as we hadn't been there before. The staff was able to seat us without reservations, which was nice. Service was fast - we had our first round of drinks and hors d'oeuvres in ten minutes. The food came out about fifteen minutes later and looked amazing. The "Pile of Meat" dish was extraordinary! It was medium rare with an exceptional crust. The loaded potato that accompanied it was disappointing. The American loaded meatloaf dish was a huge portion of loaf, pasta, veggies and mashed potatoes. The walleye was served with an incredible sauce that everyone loved. Would definitely recommend Dawn Manor!
LOVED this place for an anniversary dinner! Each course was phenomenal! Highly recommend the Boursin cheese appetizer! The speakeasy was a little short-staffed, so we didn't get timely service, but the drinks were good! My husband really liked the brandy old fashioned sweet!
Chef Jayson is a culinary genius!!!! All the dishes were an incredible experience! The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous each room has its own special feel, just stunning. Antoni was a wonderful server so efficient and sweet definitely request him. Highly recommend coming here for a fine finding experience.
We went here with our two kids (age 4 and 5) without a reservation around 4pm on a Friday night and were seated right away. We sat upstairs next to a window and Christmas tree which felt super cozy and cute. The server was pretty slow but very friendly so can be forgiven. The kids menu included a filet option for $25 which was great because our 4 year old doesn’t eat typical kid food. We started with crab cakes which were out of this world delicious. Both me and my husband said we could’ve eaten a lot of that for our main course because it was so good. My husband and son got the burgers which were a big hit. I got the walleye which was delicious. I would highly recommend this place!
Dawn Manor is an absolutely excellent dining experience! The service is top notch - the perfect balance of professional and friendly. We had a party of 6 and every single one of us loved our entree and the appetizers. The drinks were perfect, from the wine to the old fashioned cocktails, to the after dinner indulgences! The history here is also so interesting and adds to the vibe and atmosphere. 100% highly recommend and we would love to return sometime if we are in the area!
This was an enjoyable dining experience. If you have a reservation, I would recommend getting here early to enjoy the speakeasy. Drinks and food in the speakeasy before 6 are discounted (time may vary depending on the season). The Dimber- Damber Dates appetizer was absolutely delicious! I had the walleye dinner and husband had the pork chop dinner, both were beautifully presented and equally delectable. The atmosphere is sophisticated but not pretentious. The restaurant is located in a beautifully reconstructed 1855 mansion.
This is our new favorite spot in the Dells. The food is better than Ishnala and you can make reservations so no waiting for hours to eat. We actually tried Ishnala twice this year thinking it was just an off night. But nope we don't even go anymore. Dawn Manor has never disappointed. We've tried just about everything and my husband's favorite is the Prime Rib. I love the Harper pasta and their chicken breast dish. Their potato soup is the best. All their apps are phenomenal! Try it you won't be disappointed. The staff is always friendly and kind.
Food, cocktails, and service were excellent! Loved the Speak Easy, and the staff went above and beyond for our group of 8. They reserved seating in the Speakeasy before dinner and even provided the wine cave private room for our dining experience. I recommend the private room for a large group. The prime rib was also the best I've ever had, so I would definitely suggest it. :)
Stunning exterior drew us in; interior beautiful as well. After two drinks in the smaller bar on first floor, we were seated upstairs for.dinner. Our server was super nice and very knowledgeable and professional. My pork and potatoes were excellent...as did look the steaks and desserts walking by to nearby tables. My husband's wedge salad, crab cakes and fries were fine but not top notch. We stuck our head in the larger bar on the lower lever and found it very nice. I also LOVED the historical art and information throughout the restaurant.
I took my mom to the speakeasy for apps and cocktails. The cocktails were well crafted and delicious. We had the bacon wrapped dates and the blue crab cakes. The bacon wrapped dates were some of the best I’ve ever had. The only thing that could’ve made them better was more balsamic reduction for dipping. The crabcakes were good, but personally we felt there was too much filler, a.k.a. bread. Would’ve liked to see them smaller with more crab. Our Server Bee was absolutely phenomenal. Extremely attentive with a big personality. We loved her. She even took the time to run out to the parking lot to give me my sunglasses which I left on the table.
A beautiful Wisconsin Dells experience! Our server, Annamaria or Annalisa (can’t remember her name) was attentive and personable. The general manager came by after to tell us some of the home’s history. We requested the Raab Room, but it was unavailable last night, so we sat in the Haunted Room. Both rooms are absolutely beautiful. The Raab Room does have a huge window with a lovely view. Prior to dinner, we went downstairs to the speakeasy bar. It was a lovely atmosphere. A secret door could be a fun idea to make it feel more like a speakeasy. The happy hour was great. The food was pretty good. Our favorite of the following was the Cream of Asparagus soup. We tried the Burrata Caprese (tasty if you like garlic), Shrimp & Lobster Cocktail (couldn’t taste the lobster, the lobster salad had a green onion flavor), Cream of Asparagus Soup (well balanced, appreciated the hint of Truffel oil), Harper Pasta, and lava cake for dessert (would have liked the ice cream on the side of the lava cake because it overpowered and cooled down the lava cake a bit). Overall, very wonderful experience and a beautiful atmosphere!
We decided to try this place on a whim, on their opening weekend nonetheless! A few key takeaways: -We’re from the Madison area, and this was one of the best meals we’ve had in some time. The wrapped dates and especially the steak crostini were incredible. The pork shank was worth the price for the amount and quality. The airline chicken was also phenomenal but would have been even better with slightly more substance (maybe more mashed potato) and especially more of that amazing sauce for dipping. The service was also great; our waitress was extremely attentive. The physical location is an obvious 5-star and the renovated historic home from 1855 is just lovely. Two main critiques, which I hope will sort themselves out over time: -There was a very limited dessert menu, and poprocks cheesecake (made with poprocks) seemed unappetizing to us, though we are cheesecake lovers. We hope the dessert menu increases in quantity in the future. -The food was not HOT when it was served to us. So when the general manager and someone else stopped by to see how things were, which was well intentioned, our food unfortunately grew cold. Staff should serve dishes HOT and wait until folks are done with their main entrees to chit-chat. YES, we would come again!!
The food was really delicious! We really loved the salad with the goat cheese and candied pecans. My boyfriend and I shared the salad and glad we did because it was huge!! Had to try cheese curds and they were good, nice crispy coating, wish the cheese were a little more melted. I had the walleye, at first I wasn’t sure about the maple sauce, but after trying it I actually loved it. I tried my boyfriend’s pork chop and it was sooo delicious! The service was excellent, we had a wonderful server in training and both she and the server training her were friendly and helpful! I had a brandy old fashioned and my boyfriend had a classic old fashioned and neither of us were impressed. I thought they seemed kind of watered down. One last thing, the rooms are nicely decorated, but the lighting KILLS the ambiance. Way too bright!! I would turn the overhead lights WAY down or off and light the place with the wall sconces. Candles at the tables would add some warmth, which the decor needs. Took a look at the “Speak Easy” bar in the basement and it had the warmth and ambiance the rest of the place needs. But overall, an enjoyable experience!
Sorry Dawn Manor...I had such high hopes. Colonial Williamsburg this place was not. Upon entering, the first thing we noticed was bright white LED lights that glare down at you from above. After squinting at my plate for 15 minutes, I asked if they could be dimmed just a bit. Was told that the only one that could do that is the manager who had the app on his mobile phone and the manager was not in the building. Also, we were asked if we wanted to order virtually immediately upon seating. Asking for a minute, we got that. 1 minute. Requesting another minute, we got...1 more minute. As you see, the food got 4 stars. Had a decent pork chop (tender and cooked as requested) and my wife had a good pot pie. Then, just as we were starting into our after dinner ice cream drink (also good), the waitress appeared with the yellow scrub bucket and mop and proceeded to wet mop the floor just 10 feet from us. Our total dinner, including an after dinner ice cream drink lasted 50 minutes. We felt if we didn't leave, they would turn off the "surgery center" lights and send us out to our car even though we were still 30 minutes from the published close time. If they create an inviting atmosphere and s-l-o-w things down, it would be a much better experience for those looking for a dining experience rather than fast food.
Very pretty and clean. Waitress was adorable. But when asked what the fillet was for Franks fillet, she had no clue. And was still a little confused after going to the kitchen to ask. My old fashion was so strong it tasted like straight whiskey. For $14 I expect a cocktail I can enjoy. For the prices, (which are not an issue), I would expect a better trained staff. Will not be returning.
Disappointed they do not have a fish fry here on Friday nights. I thought this would be a requirement for a Wisconsin supper club but the steak I had was good but a tad overcooked. I ate it anyway and it had a good flavor. Au gratin potato side dish could have been cooked a bit more and was slightly cold. However the atmosphere is wonderful. The idea to rebuild the house from the ground up was a good one and this place is just starting out so I'm hoping that the food quality improves with time. Service was wonderful although the food came out really fast and we weren't even done with our salads when our food arrived. I would suggest the brussel sprouts appetizer. They were delicious and you get a lot of them to share.
I really wanted to love Dawn Manor. Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin Dells, this charming new spot has all the makings of a great local gem: cozy ambiance, a creative menu, and some of the friendliest service I’ve experienced in a while. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting or the service. Let’s start with the positives. The staff at Dawn Manor are incredibly warm and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed, and it’s clear they care about giving guests a good experience. The drink menu also had a fun twist—particularly the Dream Soda, which was surprisingly refreshing and one of the highlights of the night. That said, the main issue here is the food—specifically, the lack of seasoning. The flavors were just flat. We ordered the potato-crusted walleye, a dish that sounded promising on paper but was executed with almost no flavor. There wasn’t even salt on the table to try and salvage it, which felt like a miss for a place serving dishes that really needed a flavor boost. Next up was the meatloaf, served over mashed potatoes and topped with macaroni and cheese—a quirky combo that had potential. The textures were fine, and the dish was comforting in its own way, but once again, everything tasted under-seasoned and dull. It felt like they were holding back on flavor across the board, which is frustrating when the kitchen clearly has ideas worth exploring. The cheese curds were decent—crispy, not too greasy, but still lacking the savory punch you expect from a Wisconsin classic. With such fierce cheese curd competition around here, being “just OK” doesn’t quite cut it. Overall, Dawn Manor has a lot going for it—great service, a cozy atmosphere, and a menu that shows ambition. But until the kitchen gets more confident with seasoning and boldness, it’s hard to recommend the food wholeheartedly. I’ll be rooting for them, though, because with a few adjustments, this place could be a standout. Here’s hoping they find their flavor soon.
We came for dinner for the first time on Friday night. We had reservations and were seated at the first table in the 1855 room. We sat with menus for ten minutes before we were greeted by our server. By that time we were ready to order even though we didn't even have a drink order in. The room was very bright with overhead recessed lighting and served as a highway for all the bussers, wait staff and people going to the bathroom. It was a noisy revolving door. I ordered two appetizers as my meal instead of an entree and my partner ordered the meatloaf with mac and cheese. I asked the waitress to please bring my food out with the entree. 15 minutes later, just the steak crostinis were brought to the table as an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, the meatloaf and dates arrived. The dates were completely burnt and inedible. It took several more minutes before our server stopped by so I could show her. She immediately put in a new order. When the second attempt came out, they were still burnt, but I wasn't going to bother with it again. I was expecting the goat cheese to be tangy to offset the sweetness of the dates, but it ended up being sweetened goat cheese, so they were just complete sugar bombs and overly rich. The steak crostinis were good and we enjoyed the mac and cheese. The meatloaf was okay, it was a bit dry. Overall, we would probably try Dawn Manner again, but it did not live up to the hype. For the atmosphere and quality of food, it was absolutely not worth the outrageous prices. The menu is unique for a restaurant in the Dells, which I appreciate, but the food execution and service still leave a lot to be desired. We walked around to the other rooms and they didn't seem that different to ours except the speakeasy downstairs.
I have been SO excited to try this place. It’s definitely my kind of vibe. So I picked it for my birthday dinner. It’s pricey so I had to budget to go. Right off the bat, the hostess seemed annoyed we were there. The place was essentially empty but we were initially crammed in a corner not 6” away from another table that was clearly having a very intimate conversation. When we asked to move the hostess slammed down our menus on a table just on the other side of where we were and rolled her eyes. I should have walked out then. When I’m dropping over $100 on a meal, I expect better service. The waitress was very nice and knew a lot of history. She did a great job. I ordered the steak crostini which was $21 and did not have the ingredients listed. It had blue cheese instead of Gorgonzola which is why I ordered it. The main dish was good- I got the honest Abe. I wasn’t paying $60 for a steak. There was plenty to take home. The menu was misleading as it states entres come with a a salad but I was charged $8 for a Cesar salad. They do offer a tiny complimentary birthday desert. Over all even though I love the aesthetic, I won’t eat here again. I’ll come to the speakeasy as the drinks are good and the building is beautiful but for the price, the dells offers better service and food elsewhere.
