California Bowl

Very impressive lunch delivery. Every thing was hot and the food tasted really great. The miso soup was very hot. The tempura could not have been better and its container had little holes in it so the tempura did not get soggy. The chicken teriyaki was very good and we were given extra tempura and soy sauce. The edamame was perfect, the pods were large and not small like we have gotten from other restaurants. We have been looking for a new Japanese restaurant and had considered this restaurant in the past but never went there however we definitely will order from it again.

This was my first time going there. I got the spicy pork plate and it was delicious! The portions were large which made the ten bucks I paid well worth it. I was stuffed and still wanted more because it was so yummy. I'll definitely be going back to try other things. I hope my experiences are about the same. The parking was good, the traffic wasn't bad. Staff was friendly. I got my food in about 6 minutes after ordering.

I used to come here back in the day all the time. Now anytime I’m in the valley I make sure to stop in. This place is solid every time I’ve come. Over 20 years now!! I’m a creature habit so I either get them teriyaki chicken Bonito box or the Unagi bowl.

Great place to grab a quick lunch if you work nearby. I highly recommend the #49. Great teriyaki chicken on a bed of rice with steamed veggies and 2 delicious California rolls on top.

Only negative point was the 15 min longer waiting time than shown in tracker (total 35 min from online order to ready for pickup). Else great food, good portion size. We had Beef bowl very good and fresh; baked salmon roll very good; 2 other fresh rolls and some tempura gyozo. Food freshly prepared, decent price. Exactly what I expect from a take out sushi shop. Sitting area ok.

The sauce was a little sweeter for what I'd like. Price was average. Fried calamari tempura also came in quite decent size. The tempura batter was a little dense. Price was average. Will consider reorder when cravings for teriyaki hits!

I really like their Super Philadelphia Roll.

Trying this place after driving by sooooo many times. Tried the beef bowl & 5 piece calamari tempura. The beef teriyaki was tasty, smoky & tender. Large amount of rice. The sauce was a little sweeter for what I'd like. Price was average. Fried calamari tempura also came in quite decent size. The tempura batter was a little dense. Price was average. Will consider reorder when cravings for teriyaki hits!

This review will sound critical and it’s not meant to be. This place is a fast food place serving Japanese style food. A good value for the dollar, but I’d rather pay more to get more. The “tempura “ was really just fried veggies and a shrimp. Again, it’s fine for what it is, but not for me.

If this were just about the service, California Bowl would be a solid five stars. The guys behind the counter are friendly, helpful and overall excellent. The food however isn't five stars. The menu board is Byzantine...there are at least a hundred choices from what I could make out. Everything from bowls, teriyaki plates, ramen and Udon soups, to a huge number of sushi rolls. It's a little cartoonish seeing so many pictures plastered up along the counter. The food itself is ok. Nothing will kill you, but nothing stands out as great. I was ok with the vegetable tempura (though undercooked) , but absolutely would pass on the teriyaki if I ever returned. The beef is a cheap cut and tasteless, though the chicken is somewhat better. Prices here are fine. Moderate. And again, the service is great.

Reasonable, nice variety, fairly fast, knowledgeable staff, and the food is good. Went back at 8:45 to be told they're closed already. Huh?! I thought businesses locked their doors when they closed. Smh....I think the cook just didn't want to cook anymore. 5 stars just got dropped to 3.

Thought I may be taking a risk since it looked vacant when I'd drive by but the place was busy as well as from taking orders by phone. The guy at the register was very friendly and funny as he joked with the girl taking the phone orders. Great 1st impression. Will def try again.

What disappointed the most was that the tempura California rolls had the rotting avocado in them but the regular California rolls look pristine. I'm sure one might say" oh but it's cause they got deep fried". No. ANY other location I've ordered from, they NEVER look like this. And they forgot the sauces that correspond even after asking to have them on the side. I'm willing to give this spot another chance if they do things properly. Cause if this shit happens again, I'm not coming back.
