Wow this place is a gem! The moment we walked in we were greeted by the lovely staff and our server was fantastic. The food and drinks were amazing. The Szechuan cocktail is innovative and delicious. We ordered the steak, lamb chops, and mushroom pasta and all of the dishes were excellent. Luckily for me all of the desserts are gluten free and I had the chocolate pot which was out of this world. Do yourself a favor if you are anywhere near the area and book a dinner here. You will not regret it.
One of my favorite restaurants in Woodstock. Great option for couples or families with vegetarians. I'm not a strict vegetarian but enjoy well made food and this place has some of the best. Favorite is the mushroom and lentil pate and last night I had the zoodles and clams - both were awesome. My fiancé enjoyed the chicken schnitzel. Staff is always friendly.
Delicious! The wood fired pita and whipped butter is packed full of gluttony topped with some honey and sugar. Never thought I would just want to eat butter straight but Silvia’s changed my mind. The cucumber mignonette is superb - what an enjoyable change to the typical mignonette making it super refreshing and delightful. The trout and the duck were equally amazing in their own right. This is the place to be and the be seen if in Woodstock. Don’t forget to order the whipped butter 😋😋
The hostess was super nice. Atmosphere was super relaxing and open kitchen. Chefs were also very welcoming. Absolutely loved every part of every plate we ordered! The aged steak was perfectly cooked to temp. The halloumi salad appetizer was insane. The whipped butter alone is worth the trip, lol. All the attention to detail is what makes this place amazing. Must visit if in woodstock!
We had a reservation, the host was so nice and friendly. We only had to wait a few minutes (we were late) and he was extremely accommodating. Our server was also so nice and recommended great items. We of course ordered the pita, and that butter was out of this world. He told us to take it to go and use it in the morning for pancakes, and that’s exactly what we did. It was amazing. Our entrees were unbelievably good and the brussels sprout blew my mind. Definitely coming back, and highly recommend.
Wonderful experience here. Sat at the bar and still felt so welcomed and cozy. The five leaf salad and roasted Brussels sprouts were so flavorful... overall just excellent!
100% perfect. Highly recommend this as a destination. We chose to check out the Catskill region this fall for the first time. Woodstock is a nice quiet and unique area, but we needed food and drinks! Good reviews and a local map search led us here. They were still offering outdoor dining late in October, which was very cozy with the heat lamps. From the moment we arrived, we never wanted to leave. Our server, Morganne, was one of the best we have ever had. She understood what we liked and took time to relate to us and our questions and offered suggestions to visit in the area. We felt well taken care of, and not rushed. It truly was a relaxing and special evening. The drinks and food were top-notch. Some reviews mention parking is a hassle, and that is true. We stayed at Woodstock Way, so it was an easy walk. There seemed to be plenty of on-street parking, but, it was a Tuesday evening in October. Highly recommend Silvia!
My visit to Silvia’s was a pleasure. We started with the oysters which were paired with the perfect sauce. We then had the seared brussel sprouts which were soft, flavorful, but still carried a nice crunch from the searing. We then had the wood fire Pita which came with the most delicious whipped butter topped with honey and salt. We finished the entire thing! Our entrees were the Mushroom Pasta which had lovely large pieces of master and very tender pieces of mushrooms, a perfect sauce, and tender pieces of asparagus. We also tried the duck which was excellent. We didn’t try any desserts because we were stuffed but we were very pleased with the service and the food! We received complimentary glasses of champagne as it was my partners birthday. Highly recommend this place for everything from the ambiance(the music wasn’t too loud and the lighting was perfect and soft) to the food and service exceeded expectations *please note that parking was a little tough*
Silvia is a “must go to” when in Woodstock! My boyfriend and I had the wood fired pita and whipped butter with honey to start- amazing! Don’t miss out on it. Next we had the five lettuce salad- so flavorful I’m happy we got this! For dinner I had the mushroom and pasta rags- I’m still thinking about it 3 days later because it was that good! My boyfriend had the chicken schnitzel and it was great! I left this restaurant feeling full but not in a bad way! It was amazing and I’m looking forward to my next trip back just to go to Silvia!!
The staff at SILVIA is amazing. We went to celebrate my fiancées birthday. Unfortunately a stomach bug got the better of her and we needed to leave the restaurant immediately. Initially, I asked if I could get our entrees to go, but the kind server offered to cancel the order so we could leave sooner. On top of that, they took our appetizer off the bill and said it was on the house! The wood fired pita is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it! Their accommodation was incredible and I can’t wait to go back to enjoy my entrees!
Really enjoyed the food; some nice floral touches through the menu with lavender and rose. Especially loved the endive salad with 'nduja. Everything we had was very good. Parking can be a bit tricky. The small car park at the back of the restaurant is only for disabled spots and employees.
Silvia was amazing! The Prosciutto & Fig starter was the best appetizer I’ve ever had and the oysters were so fresh. Our waitress was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and made the night feel special. Only drawback was the constant line for the bathroom, but the food and service more than made up for it. Definitely worth a visit!
We had made reservations for the five of us on a relatively quiet Friday evening in Woodstock, and the town was quiet because everyone had lined up or were waiting to be seated at Silvia's! Reservations highly recommended though, as we still had to wait a few minutes before being seated in our extremely comfortable booth seating which was perfect for our toddler! We started off a few cocktails which included a nice mezcal drink and old fashioned, and also a rather disappointing Szechuan mule. The Szechuan mule lacked the peppercorn taste and was very mediocre. The other two drinks were absolutely amazing though. For appetizers, we ordered a few things which included Mushroom Lentin Pate ($17), Lamb Merguez and Wild Shrimp ($24), Smoked Beet ($15), Patatas Bravas ($15), and some toast. The Mushroom Pâté was absolutely delicious and was the best appetizer, followed by Smoked Beet and the lamb. Patatas bravas were good too, while they were warm but as soon as they got a little cold, they became very dry to eat. Decent portion sizes, enough to fill us up, but we also ended up ordering the Local Mushroom & Pasta Rags ($32) which was packed with a lot of flavor. Highly recommend that plate to anyone out there is a vegetarian. The most delicious Pasta I've had in recent times! Special shoutout to Aaron, our server who took really good care of us. Very friendly and welcoming, and ensured we had a pleasant evening. Service overall was excellent and food came within 20 mins of ordering. Noise level were on the average end and the menu overall was definitely on the expensive side of things. We will visit again, specifically for their Local Mushroom & Pasta Rags!
Excellent food and atmosphere for a cozy and unique New Year's Eve experience ✨ We enjoyed all 4 courses of our dinner from their holiday Prix Fixe menu and everything was quite delicious! We did have to wait a bit at the restaurant for our reservation time, but that's not unexpected at a good spot on a holiday. I selected the Black Cod Miso with Clams for my main and my partner chose the Venison with Veggies in Au Jus- both tasty and unique. It is very apparent and appreciated that Silvia's makes a point to use all fresh and in-season items to serve their guests A little pricey for every day- but considering the occasion, environment, flavors and top tier service- the price is quite fair.
Loved everything about this place, from an open kitchen with enormous grill in the back that makes amazing steaks to the non-pretentious service and unexpectedly delicious dishes a la farm to table. Pork chop was cooked perfectly, juicy inside, smoky on the outside. Chicken with Asian flavors was also done in a way that makes you not hate white meat’s dry lack of flavor. I would skip the beet appetizer as it wasn’t very eventful. Still, would come back in a heartbeat.
We’ve been wanting to try Silvia for years, and are so glad we finally did on this trip! The food was delicious, our server was incredibly attentive, and the ambiance was lovely — highly recommend their outdoor seating if the weather is nice! I got the steelhead trout and my husband got the lamb chops, and you can’t go wrong with either. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Woodstock!
BEST meal I have ever had in my entire life and I try new restaurants in nyc all the time. Everything we ordered was absolutely mouthwatering. We got: -the Wood fired pita- that whipped butter was heavenly -prosciutto & fig- the combination of all these ingredients and flavors made for the perfect bite -Lamb chop- simply stunning -mushroom pasta- the umami flavor was unreal. You need to get this! The service was great and the restaurant is super cute inside
We celebrated my husbands birthday on Tues nite. We arrived before our reservation time, and were seated in a beautiful corner marble table spot.. perfect. The trout and the mushrooms w pasta rags was so delicious.
Having dined at SILVIA many times with friends, I've always been impressed by their consistent excellence in both food and service. Recently, my wife, infant, and I decided to revisit, and Silvia didn't disappoint. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable with our little one, without compromising the upscale ambiance. The food, as always, was a delightful culinary experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Silvia to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
Excellent excellent place for dinner. They have both, inside and outside, seating. If you don’t have a reservation, like we didn’t, you can sit at a bar and they will text you once your table is ready. Menu has an interesting selection of items, and everything we tried tasted superb. The only minor thing was that I could taste sand in my clams but otherwise everything else was great. Staff is professional and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the restaurant’s atmosphere and would definitely recommend it to my friends.
What a wonderful place I must say. The inside is beautiful and perfectly arranged and lit to set a nice atmosphere. I got the dry aged 100% grass-fed ribeye which is so hard to come by nowadays. My fiancé got the chicken schnitzel which was very good. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Darryl are server was amazing. Just overall a 5 out of 5 star experience.
Wonderful atmosphere and friendly service. I went in for a beer or two in my casual/work clothes Sunday and was personally greeted and conversed with a man who appeared to be the owner/manager perhaps, the hostess and staff are always so friendly and professional as well. A lovely, cozy place all around. -Matt / Matt’s Antique Auto of Kingston
Excellent as always! Kind attentive server. Everyone loved their food. Serving size was appropriate. As a vegetarian I had plenty of yummy options, as did the gluten free friend. Cozy! Only didn't get desserts, but no worries because we were really too full anyways. They were accommodating when my drink was not as expected and substituted for something else.
Silvia in Woodstock is a gem of a dining spot! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a beautiful and inviting atmosphere that exudes charm and sophistication. The wood-fired kitchen adds an extra layer of excitement to the dining experience, infusing each dish with a rustic, smoky flavors. During our visit, we had the pleasure of sampling the lamb & shrimp, it was bursting with flavor. The freshness of the salad was evident, providing a delightful contrast to the hearty mains. The scallops were simply divine, with a buttery richness that melted in the mouth. We also enjoyed the Chicken Schnitzel! The staff were amazing, informative, kind and welcoming. What's more, you can extend your evening across the street at the beautiful Early Terrible Cocktail bar. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy a drink before or after your meal. Silvia is the the perfect spot for a romantic evening or a gathering with friends. I'll definitely be returning to explore more of their seasonal menu!
What can I say? The service, food and atmosphere are all top notch. Josiah, our waiter, made the experience warm and inviting. He was very well informed about the vegan options on the menu, and seemed genuinely excited about each option recommendation, (which were all amazing). We loved the vegan mushroom paté, charred beets with pesto and vegan key lime pie. Manhattan level quality staff, food and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Very high brow American classic cuisine. Enjoyed a great dry aged steak, well made drinks & friendly, inviting service. Definitely a solid meal for the money. Enjoyed eating at the bar tables. Helpful, accommodating staff.
I chose this gem of a restaurant for my birthday weekend dinner, and I couldn't be more content. From the front desk to my server (Sophia), I felt welcomed without any pretentiousness. The menu was simple farm-to-table American fare with a fantastic array of summer vegetables and a wonderful lamb roast with all the trimmings. The food was light yet filling and the wine selections were crisp pairings for a warm summer evening. I enjoyed the open concept veranda and the corner vintage green seatings in the back, where you can just enjoy the rest of the evening.
After wandering all the little boutiques in Woodstock, I took a chance at walking in at Silvia’s. Luckily our extended winter allowed me to sit on the beautiful patio and enjoy a delicious meal. The pita with the whipped butter came out fresh and warm as soon as I sat down (basically). It was delicious. The butter was so light, it’s dangerously easy to eat. The lamb chop was also perfectly cooked and delicious. Definitely the best meal I’ve had in all of Hudson valley. My favorite part was the ambiance of the patio. It’s so nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy nature while eating amazing food
Wonderful food and delicious cocktails! We had the orange jalapeño shrub fizz and the chamomile sour, they were incredible. The roussanne blend wine in the whites was wonderfully flavorful. The food all around was delicious, we shared a handful of dishes among our group, it was all delicious. The mushroom entree was spectacular. The corn on the cob was fantastic, the pork chop was great. The desserts were incredible, highly recommend the lavender pot de creme. Olive oil cake was delicious.
Booked for my 36th birthday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with smiles and welcoming energy. We had a few questions about the dishes and our waiter answered them without hesitation. We ordered the pita as an appetizer. It's a must! A perfect starter to our night. I ordered the pork chop. All ingredients on the plate complimented each other perfectly. The sauce on the side was a perfect partner to the pork. The desert and coffee was how we finished our night. If I'm ever in the area again, this will be where I choose to dine. Great job.
Highly Recommend! Service, food and ambiance were impeccable. Food: For appetizers, we got the lamb and shrimp pita and a kale and brussels salad. Both were very tasty and great choices. I got the blueberry sour and espresso martini to drink and they were great. For entrees, we got the chicken schnitzel (not something I would usually order, but saw recommendations online) and lamb chops. Both dishes had interesting and deep flavors but we were impressed by the simplistic yet flavorful chicken. Both had innovative flavors! Dessert: We got the Turkish delight panna cotta and the lavender chocolate pot. Both not too sweet and delicious Would love to come back!
This was my fourth trip here and I can say this is my favorite restaurant in the US. The wood fire aromas/dishes, ambiance, service, presentation… everything was above excellent. Our server was kind and had perfect timing. Some of our favorite dishes: the pita bread, the prosciutto and fig, the smoked beets and the wood fired pork chop. All of the cocktails are unique and exceed expectations. I had a peach rosemary house made soda that was so flavorful. As always we finished with the Turkish delight rose panna cotta and it was unreal.
Dinner at Silvia was a true delight! Despite a 30-minute wait for indoor seating, the cozy patio proved to be a charming alternative, complete with heaters and lush greenery. Our culinary journey began with: 1. Potato Bravas: Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. 2. Wood-fired Pita with whipped cream and honey: Sweet and savory harmony. 3. Kale and steamed Brussels sprouts: Fresh, tender, and expertly seasoned. 4. Pasta with Mushroom sauce: Rich, earthy, and perfectly balanced. 5. Citrus olive oil cake: Moist, zesty, and a sublime finish. Each dish exceeded expectations, showcasing Silvia's mastery of flavors and textures. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Probably the highlight of our getaway! The food was absolutely delicious and the servers were quite attentive during entire time. Probably the best food that Woodstock has to offer. Do book in advance as the place is quite well known in the area. Each meal course had its own character and most importantly, most ingredients get sourced out by local farms which reflects and contributes to the quality of their dishes. The Turkish delight panacotta was out of this world. Will definitely be back soon!
Killer cocktails. Fresh, delicious food. Make a reservation or get their 5 minutes before opening if you want a bar seat. We ordered 3 courses (+ desert) - food was packed great, sans a litttle extra time before the entree. 10/10 would recommend and will certainly be back next time we’re in town.
We had an early Sunday dinner before our trip home and the place was packed! The trout was out of this world and filled with flavor. My wife had the lamb chops which were equally delicious! Great atmosphere, friendly service and extremely well priced for the quality of food and service. Highly recommend for your next trip to Woodstock!
My husband and I decided to make a stop here after hearing great reviews from people in the city! I ordered the spicy raspberry and peach marg which was perfectly balanced and delicious! We started with the pita and whipped honey butter and would honestly come back for that alone but the mushroom and pasta rags made me fall in love with this place! We ended our meal with the apple sour cocktail and it was perfection I highly recommend coming here!!
The pork chops…. If I ever order pork chops at another restaurant, the ones at Silvia will be the pork chops I compare them against. It’s not just the open fire they’re cooked on, but the care that the chefs put into all the food here. There’s a reason locals flock to this place and if you’re just in town for a short time - do not miss an opportunity to dine here. We obviously got the pork chops but also the freshest oysters with a thoughtful mignonette, halloumi, artichoke soup, pasta with local mushrooms and citrus olive oil cake.
We went for our son's birthday and it was amazing! He loves raw oysters and lamb chops, and theirs were fantastic. So it was a very successful birthday dinner. Every dish we ordered was delicious and the cocktails were also very good. Beautiful ambiance as well.
I will be thinking of the whipped butter with wood fire pita bread for a while. It was a highlight of the meal. The food came out quickly…maybe a little too quick… The restaurant was very cozy atmosphere. We had gem lettuce salad with delicious blue cheese. For entrees, we got chicken schnitzel and lamb chop. The chickpea purée didn’t do much for lamb chop dish. I would also say the patata bravas were not up to snuff.
This is one of the best meals I’ve had in a while, and the service and atmosphere were excellent as well. Can’t-miss stop in Woodstock. The lamb chop and pork chop were both excellent and I don’t usually like pork chop. It was also my brother’s birthday and they added a candle to dessert without us even asking. Only critique would be that the prosciutto portion was skimpy, so maybe skip that. Would 100% return!
Great cocktails, wine, and food! The best food in Woodstock. Always a delight and warm cozy vibes. I've dined here alone, in groups, and on dates and it's always so great. Food is always paced perfectly, appetizers and then main courses and the main courses for the table arrive at the same time. Oh and the oysters are the freshest and so delicious! Always get them.
I came here for my bachelorette with 11 other women. We emailed ahead and were treated with wonderful generosity! The staff stayed in touch in the lead up and wow - not only was the food delicious, so were the cocktails! The staff was lovely and we just had the best time. HIGHLY recommend if you’re in the area!!
I recently had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Silvia in Woodstock, and it easily earns every single one of its 5 stars! This farm-to-table gem lives up to its reputation for honest, sustainable cooking with locally sourced ingredients, and our meal was nothing short of exceptional. We started with the appetizers, and they were the true stars of the show. The Filet Mignon Carpaccio was melt-in-your-mouth tender with perfect seasoning—such a luxurious way to begin. The Lamb Merguez & Shrimp brought bold, smoky flavors with just the right kick, and the Prosciutto & Fig was a beautiful sweet-savory balance that had us fighting over the last bite. Each one was creative, fresh, and flawlessly executed. For the main course, we couldn’t have been happier. The lamb chops were incredibly flavorful, paired with a creamy chickpea puree and a unique chutney that added an unexpected (but welcome) twist—pure genius. The fire-roasted Brussels sprouts were out of this world: crispy, charred perfection that made them addictive. And the steak? Perfectly cooked to temperature, juicy, and full of that wonderful wood-fired grill character Silvia is known for. We finished with the olive oil cake, which was moist, subtly rich, and the ideal light-yet-satisfying end to the meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with the open kitchen and wood-fired grill adding to the energy, service was attentive and knowledgeable, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. If you’re in the Catskills or passing through Woodstock, do yourself a favor and book a table at Silvia—you won’t be disappointed. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had!
Lovely and welcoming staff. The space is cozy and great vibes. Food is simply incredible and consistent. We keep going back whenever we get out of NYC to explore upstate, and have tried many items on the menu. Everything is fantastic. Some favorites are the lamb chops, schnitzel, the steak. The salads and veggies are all great. The lentil & mushroom pate for starter and the chocolate pot de creme as desert are must haves.
Wowwwwww!!! One of the best meals I have had in a while. Every dish we got was really good. Highlights were the pita and honey butter, beets, and pork chop. Cabbage was a little overpriced but it is what it is. The bartenders were very nice and attentive. I would say a reservation is required unless you are ok with the bar. We came at 5pm on a Tues and they were booked out for the rest of the night aside from bar seating. Will be back with a reservation next time!
Visiting Silvia was an incredible experience. The food is delicious, but the best part of all was the service. Olivia was an excellent waitress. Not only did she welcome us in the best way, but she also made the entire experience unforgettable. It was our friend’s birthday, and she made everything truly spectacular. When we were leaving, she even played a song for us. As a hospitality professional, I can say this is the kind of service every restaurant strives for.
Sylvia in Woodstock was fantastic! The handcrafted cocktails were incredible—especially the Black Martini and the ginger-infused margarita. The food was just as impressive: the chicken schnitzel with green beans and mushrooms was the best I’ve ever had, and the New York strip was absolutely incredible. From the manager to the wait staff to the bartender, the service was phenomenal—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We can’t wait to come back! Jim & Jeanette Calverton
All I can say is wow! This place blew me away! The carpaccio melted in your mouth. The oysters were fresh and the dill pickle topper was a different but welcomed change from simply using hot sauce and lemon. The lamb chops were cooked perfect and the charred vegetables were extremely tasty. The real star of the show was the prosciutto and fig appetizers however. So good a second plate was ordered, the flavors were really that incredible. Service was great and our waitress was extremely sweet and was on her game. We were served very quickly despite a busy restaurant. Drinks again were very tasty, the espresso martini was a great way to end the evening. If I had one gripe, I wish there was a larger dessert menu with more options. Despite that the lavender chocolate dessert was still up to par with the rest of the menu.
Loved dining here last night. We sat on the patio with our dog… as the evening turned to night and the lights n lamps were turned on, the place transformed into something even more beautiful than it already was. It was just not the ambience… the food was great and so were the cocktails. Must try the Chicken Schnitzel and smoked beets! The service was quick and yet at a perfect pace. If you are in Woodstock and want to remember one of your evenings, dine here!
We loved this meal. My sis and I celebrated my birthday with a dinner here and it was truly a wonderful and memorable experience. We were BLOWN away by the quality of the food, particularly the lamb chops, the pasta rags, the crispy chicken. And the whipped butter!! Who knew butter could be so light yet rich and flavorful?! Please eat here, you will not be disappointed.
This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel staff... and it was terrific! The atmosphere was lively and fun. Clean. The waitstaff was super friendly and very attentive. The food.... delicious. Had the watermelon salad, trout dinner, olive oil lemon cake. I would recommend these dishes!!!
This restaurant is one of my favorite eateries in New York State. We've eaten here before , 4 or 5 times. Always utterly amazed by the taste and quality. Today I had the Savoy cabbage vegan dish and it was unbelievably tasty and hearty. The whipped feta and vegetables appetizer was sooo good. Even those fruit sodas are knockouts. And the setting is so nice and cheerful.
I’ve been here three times and have had a great experience each visit! I’m making sure to FINALLY write a review since they are an absolute must every time I’m in Woodstock. Dishes are seasonal, with fresh, sometimes local ingredients, making their menu perfect for each season we go! I get especially excited for drinks at Silvia, they’re always so tasty and creative! Service is fast, friendly and professional. In summer, the outdoor seating is nicely shaded by nature, which offers a nice break from the sun. In winter, the lounge area is warm, intimate and classy. Looking forward to my next visit, as always!
What a gem! Excellent food in generous portions, friendly and quick service. The smoked pork was unbelievably amazing. I never had such a flavorful pork chop before. They make great use of the wood fire oven, and while the dishes aren't necessarily inventive, they are prepared masterfully. The dessert was also great, much better than the description on the menu. Reasonable prices.
We had a lovely summer evening dinner on the patio. Right off the center of town, the interior and exterior are stunningly beautiful, renovated with all of the original architectural details and charm. Excellent food, seasonal menu prepared with local ingredients, great wine/beer list, and friendly service. This place is a perfect representation of the spirit of the Catskills, and why it is such a special place for so many.
My boyfriend and I celebrated our six year anniversary here, for dinner. Our server Sophia was delightful and gave us lots of recommendations. Not to mention two glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary! We brought our pup with us and the staff were so warm and accommodating. Shoutout to their wonderful manager! Must try’s: -the strawberry lavender margarita - the rhubarb pomegranate sour - Kale and Brussels salad - The smoked beets(best way I’ve ever eaten beets) - The Oysters(so fresh and that mignonette is out of this world) - The clams and ramps(I’m an artichoke girl but that sauce was amazing) - The mushroom pasta with asparagus(this is last meal worthy) We will definitely be back and can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Thank you for welcoming us in and truly for creating such beautiful food, in such innovative ways.
Absolutely incredible. Came here with my husband for what I thought would be a pretty chill experience after a bit of hiking through the Catskills but boy were we wrong in the best of ways. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very chic, the server was super nice and helpful with her food recommendations, and finally the food was amazing. We had a few dishes on the menu but the appetizer that stood out to me was their wood fired pita with the whipped butter. It’s “smack your momma” yummy and couldn’t stop talking about it all night. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the smoked pork chop was so good! Highly recommend.
This was the perfect dinner in Woodstock. The scene was lively but in refined and relaxing space with great device. And the food was outstanding! The pita with whipped honey is a must! And the smoked beets, mushroom pasta, and pork chop were all outstanding as well. No complaints! I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to the area.
Formerly "Not Fade Away", this modern restaurant stands out amongst Woodstock dining. It does border on pretentious, but the staff brings that vibe right back down to earth. Great people work here. I ordered the half chicken and part of it was undercooked. The manager quickly offered to make it right. Looking forward to heading back here again soon.
We live in Texas but every time we come back to NY we have to go to our favorite Hudson Valley restaurant, Silvia. Just one slight complaint: We always used to order the shrimp and blackened peppers and crispy chickpeas appetizer but we were sad to see it was taken off the menu. Two other big changes we were sad to see: the pork chop entree used to come with delicious grits but this time the entree had a tomatillo sauce and chopped onions and other veggies; no carbs at all and lastly the trout entree used to have a lemon yogurt dill sauce and rice that really rounded out the meal. However this time it had a different sauce and no rice . Just hoping chefs return the dishes to how they were made before. They were still delicious this time but we missed the old combo of flavors. Overall, everything was delicious and the service and ambience and food was great as always.
The food and service here were excellent and the restaurant was indeed dog-friendly. A really beautiful venue and we took advantage of the outdoor seating. I had the trout and beet salad. All of which were excellent. Our server was attentive and pleasant without being overly so, and I had the impression that it was a busy night. We went just prior to a holiday weekend, so I am sure it was busier than normal. Street parking was adequate, but Woodstock can be quite busy around dinner time, so plan for a little extra time searching for parking.
Place was okay. I had the 20 ounce steak but did not feel it was not worth the price. Had a nice charcoal flavor but did not have taste. Was missing something. Scallops were amazing but it was only 4. Oysters were great. Chicken was amazing. The sauce was amazing. If I coyly bottle that and put that on the steak it would have been awesome. LONG wait. But if your with good people, you'll have a good time.
This was our first experience at Sylvia’s We were disappointed. The pita with whipped butter was delicious but only 2 pitas for 4 people? And to charge 6 dollars extra per pita was disappointing. Considering there was no bread offered. The clams were also delicious but nothing to dip with the sauce. The service was great. Drinks were ok. The food was just ok. When in Woodstock again not sure if I’ll be back.
Came here for the second time in a year. We sat outdoor with our 5 month old. The staff were attentive because we have a baby with to take our order without too much wait time. I would like to give it 5 stars, but the sea scallop was very salty, if anything, the corn gravy saved it. The proscuitto and fig didn't hit the mark as it did the first time we had it, it probably needed more goat cheese. The lamb is still exceptional and my husband said that's the only thing he would have there. Overall, still a good experience and would come back.
Note: I'd rate this spot more like a 4.5 not a 4 When we arrived around it was peak dinner time so there were a few seats left but the hostess was great and offered a corner booth seat if we could wait 2min for them to clean it up. Here's what we ordered and pictured: •Whipped butter - sweeter than I imagined, almost like a lightly sweet whipped cream but worth ordering cause the fire oven pitas goe well •Smoked fish - not bad, worth ordering if you like smoked fish but not necessary •Roasted beets - really nice Herby sauce, would recommend •Scallops - delicious and good portions of sides with it so even though there's only 4 scallops, you can get full •Pork chop - a bit too salty, we didn't finish it Wine selection by the glass isn't too bad. Overall this restaurant is a good option if you're in Woodstock.
Late booking and the place was still buzzing. Beautiful space, quirky art and decor. Because of the open kitchen and grill you may come away smelling fragrant to pets. The mains were absolutely delicious - pork chop had such great flavour, the mushroom pasta umami full and comforting. Tomato and whipped feta was very salty and astringent I presume from the dressing, could perhaps do with something like a hazelnut or bread to balance. Vegan 'cheesecake' was interesting and I enjoyed it! Others on the table less so
Beautiful restaurant with open kitchen and large windows. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared. Minus one ⭐️ as the staff conducted themselves with an odd combination of accommodation and indifference. Almost as if they’re programmed to provide good service, so long as you don’t make any specific requests. My husband and I sat at the bar with intention of having dinner at a leisurely pace. We put in an order for starters and was told that we had to place our entire order at once - which we did with request that it be coursed out with ample time in between. The bartender agreed, but then the first course arrived immediately with the second on its heels. We asked for the last course, a pork chop, to be sliced for sharing. Upon delivery, we were told that the chef was “too busy”, and when we looked over to see that the entire kitchen staff was on break, the bartender just shrugged. Ultimately, it was a bunch of little things that can make a guest feel like requests will be ignored so long as it’s an inconvenience to staff. Hopefully, management would care to correct this as the experience would have been perfect otherwise.
It was cool in the room, I really didn't like that the girl in the kitchen was working with her hair down. The male chefs were working in caps and she was with her hair down. I liked the appetizers more than the main course. I didn't like the cocktail, too much alcohol. You can't taste the berries... The atmosphere is very nice and romantic)
The food was good and the only thing keeping it from being a 5 star for me is that nothing really felt special in each dish. The pork chop was great and the richness of everything was well balanced and I can see why the slight bitterness from the vegetable element is placed into the dish, but I’d wish there was more done with this. Simply just charring it wasn’t enough to make it feel relevant to the dish. I felt similar about most of the dishes, although I will say overall it was a good meal and especially for the location it’s a gem in the upstate New York region. The service and atmosphere was great which almost makes it feel wrong to give a 4 star simply because the food wasn’t as great as I believe it could be, but I am basing this on the food alone. I wish I can give it a 4.5 but it’s definitely still a must try if around.
Decided to have my anniversary dinner here and let’s just say it really was not special at all. Had to wait about 15 minutes to be sat even though I had a reservation, asked for a booth (maybe they didn’t have any?) got sat at a banquet table between 2 other couples but the host did make it up to us by giving us some celebratory champagne. Food was very fresh and delicious but portions are small. Crazy to say but my favorite part of the whole meal was the honey drizzle on the whipped butter. Ordered 3 different bar drinks, the old fashioned was the best one. Overall it would had been a great experience but our server’s hospitality was terrible. Wasn’t really around much, and when she was, she still didn’t come to the table. As a server myself I always give grace but her service could use some improvement. Ended the night with some dessert, happy to know they were all gluten free! The chocolate mousse was so fluffy and it just melted in my mouth. Would come back but maybe I’ll just sit at the bar next time!
A beautiful restaurant with a variety menu. Our appetizers were some of the best I've ever eaten! The smoked beet salad, and the whipped feta with radish were amazing. Unfortunately, the entrees were pretty average, with the (server recommended!) mushroom pasta lacking in taste and seasoning, and the pancetta wrapped chicken was unremarkable. A real shame as expectations were high after the excellent appetizers. Nevertheless,I can't wait to try there again.
We went to Silvia’s last night during a weekend trip to Woodstock. We made a reservation, but we arrived early and ordered drinks at the bar. We cashed out at the bar and then moved to our table when it was ready. Once we arrived at our table, it was at least 12-15 minutes until anyone came by to see if we wanted water (!!!) or to put in an order. By the time the waiter came, we had decided on our food order, but the waiter was a bit snippy and told us he couldn’t take our food order until he gave us water. Okay, no big deal. The food came out hot and fresh, and absolutely DELICIOUS. We got the wood fired pita with whipped honey butter (WOW), the five leaf salad, the mushroom pasta, and the chicken schnitzel. Everything was absolutely incredible. Again, it took our waiter a very long time to come back to check on us, and when he did, we asked for the bill. He told us he couldn’t bring our bill until he cleared the plates (could have been done sooner, but what I do know). When he brought us the check, it had 3 (random) drinks on the bill, none of which were the ones we had ordered at the bar (which we already paid for) and there were 3 drinks (there were 3 of us, but only 2 of us had gotten drinks at the bar). When I pointed this out to the waiter and also tried to show him that not only had we already paid, but the quantity of drinks we were being double-billed for was wrong AND they were the wrong drinks altogether, he grabbed the receipt out of my hands and said, “okay, okay, the bar transferred them over, I’ll go check on it.” The waiter then went to the table next to ours and loudly commented on how difficult certain people are, and made a big deal of telling them how much he enjoyed working with their table. Huh? We were confused. It seemed like we were off on the wrong foot with the water from the very beginning, but we were always nothing but polite and patient. Yes, when he came to us initially we asked to put everything in at once, but he a) left us hanging for a long time, so it seemed like a “now-or-never” situation, and b) when has a waiter ever been frustrated with people being efficient? As for pointing out that they were trying to double-charge us for random drinks different than the ones we had already bought and paid for, we were *still* polite and patient, though, to be honest, that was very bizarre and is not something that should ever happen, and definitely not at a restaurant of that caliber. Overall, the food was incredible, but the experience was definitely marred by the weirdly unfriendly, inefficient, and outright lack of professionalism from the waiter at our table.
Hit and miss on the food. The cocktails were exceptional but the rest was overpriced and underwhelming. Nothing wrong with it, just very bland and not executed well.
I have mixed feelings about SILVIA, but strangely enough, I’d still go back. When I look at the individual dishes, I wasn't exactly blown away, but the overall atmosphere and kind service really made up for the food not being quite "there." The Highlights: Lemongrass Szechuan Soda: This was a house-made soda and incredibly unique. I wasn’t sure how those two flavors would work together, but it was delicious. Mushroom Pâté & Filet Mignon Carpaccio: Both were solid starters. Neither was particularly memorable or "standout" in terms of flavor, but they were good enough to get the meal started. Panna Cotta: This was the star of the show for dessert. It was so delicious I dug into it before I could even take a photo! The Vibe: We were seated at a great corner table, and the atmosphere is just lovely. The service was great and made the whole night feel special. The Big Disappointment: The steak was a massive letdown. It was a market price special at $95, and while they cooked it rare exactly as I asked, it was about 50% fat. It felt like the fat hadn't been rendered properly, making a huge portion of the steak completely inedible. At a $95 price point, that’s a tough pill to swallow. I didn't touch side of Dijon mustard (?) and salt as it didn't really feel necessary. The Seafood Stew was also a bit too delicate and lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. Overall: Even though the most expensive part of the meal was a bust, I didn't leave feeling disappointed. There is something about the experience at SILVIA that makes you have a good time regardless. I’d return, but I’ll definitely be skipping the market-price steak next time.
Disappointing food. The atmosphere was great. The service was ok for a busy Friday night. But the food had nothing special. The Brussel sprouts were blend. The pasta was OK, but not more then that. But the worst was the steak. Ordered it as medium, it's was dry, tasteless and blend. Worst steak I ever had. At $95 for 18oz steak, at least don't burn it to a crisp. I am not exaggerating, it was burned to very well done and tasteless. We came here for aniversary, and had such high hopes, and vere just devastated by the food. Very disappointing.
Wish we’d spent our wedding anniversary elsewhere. Having heard such good things about Silvia, we decided this is where we’d spend a special night together while vacationing in the area. The buildout of the space is quite nice and the energy was buzzy on a Thursday night. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, despite a reservation, and once we were…we should have left after waiting ~40 minutes to get our first round of drinks. We love to taste different items when we dine out, so ordered the: Merguez with shrimp, Manila clams, Lamb chops, and mushroom pasta “rags”. Everything was fine, nothing outstanding. I found the pasta to be fairly one-note and very Parmesan forward and quite oily; the pasta texture is what kept me going and had a nice chew to it. Through all the waiting, our waitress didn’t seem attentive or apologetic; she was far too busy tending to a large group of 10 sat near us (for which I’d imagine her gratuity was already solidly guaranteed). I’ve dined in many busy restaurants and feel like some of this fell on the kitchen, but heavily on management. The waitress never should have had to carry the load of a 10-person table plus an entire additional section on a night where it was visible the restaurant was already in the weeds. Is it possible they were short staffed? Maybe. But it just all around felt like a very disappointing experience - we should have known after trying Good Night a few evenings before and being let down that the sister restaurant would be similar. If you’re looking for a truly special meal, I’d head north to Round Top and visit Julia’s Local.
We really wanted to try this restaurant and recently had the opportunity. I have to admit that we were underwhelmed by the experience. We eat out all the time and I've never had an experience like this before. Our issues really come down to the way the restaurant operates and their inflexibility. While I understand that a lot of work goes into developing recipes, in a service business you do need to have some flexibility for the needs of your customers. One member of our party has a dairy allergy, for instance. During our visit they were interested in the prosciutto and apricot starter, but it had goat cheese on it. The restaurant refused to leave the goat cheese out, so we couldn't order it. This was frustrating, as this should have been a simple request. At times their inflexibility was just perplexing. When we arrived for our reservation, we arrived a few minutes early and they weren't yet open. A number of other parties had arrived a little early as well. Instead of inviting everyone in and getting everyone seated, they made all of us wait outside in the sun (some parties with young children and elderly), until they officially opened. In all my experiences eating at restaurants, I have never experienced something like this and it felt almost like they liked making people wait... When we got to the host table to be seated, the host asked the person in front of us if outside was still good for them or if they wanted inside. That party told them outside was still fine. When we got up to the host table, I asked if we would be able to be inside since my parents had been forced to stand in the sun waiting for them to open and were already very hot, and they told me No, there's nothing available inside... With respect to the food, what we had was good, but the food just does not make up for the experience. We would not go back. In all honesty, at several points during our meal we actually considered leaving, which I've never done before in my life. We're very disappointed.
We went to this restaurant in a super cold and snowy day and when we got there the hostess found a table for us but when we mentioned our baby was part of the group she immediately faked that they had no tables available. Please note, they had plenty of tables available that she even said “oh there are empty tables but we are full, I am sorry”. It was a pretty rude gesture specially knowing how bad the weather was and that we had a baby with us. I would definitely not recommend this discriminatory place.
