Don't expect potato chips, corn chips, kettle chips, or more inventive chips like veggie chips. But, this place features some incredible burgers with every topping you can imagine. I saw them passing out nachos, which looked pretty good. Didn't have any, but there always a next time. Chips is at the top for best burgers in park cities. 😋 .
This was perfect. I was moaning over my meal the entire time. I honestly feel like I can go back and try something else and be happy no matter what I order! From the burger to the sides (and we got several to share) just everything was sooo freaking good! Also, customizable! I really appreciated the actual bottles of mayo, ketchup, and mustard on the tables instead of ordering it - and frankly this seems super smart too. Like, if you ask for no tomato's and you get them anyway, it's easy to pluck the fruit off. But nothing is worse than a condiment you don't like.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, so maybe I'm nostalgia biast, but I brought my bf who has never been and he loved it, so that says alot. The food is amazing the chicken is so yummy, my bf loved the burger. And they have the best fried pickle chips ever. Honestly it is 98% worth the price. I would say 100% but the prices have gone up so much since I started coming here as a kid. Like 3/4$ on certain items, and I wasnt a kid that long ago💀 like in hs it was somehwe i could easily sneak to lunch and get food but w the prices now i cant do that, BUT they gotta do what they gotta do to stay in business and I love the food so whatever. I will say I am severely sad there's no more arcade #bringbaclthearcadethatwasmychildhood update as of 06/28/2024 review is still mostly the same but damn there are no young people. 😭😭 I remeber like 5ish years ago when I was in HS this place was like one of *the* spots to hangout and now it's all old people 😭😭 when did this spot become so dead :(
I love this place. The food is great, lots of choices in addition to their fantastic old school burgers! everyone who works there seems to be enjoying their job and it's a great quick stop right off the tollway. I look forward to every opportunity. They have a bar and patio too.
Went with coworkers for lunch a couple of times before. This place has great food! I ordered the blue plate special $12.99, 2 pork chops with two sides, cabbage and broccoli. Huge portions! Delicious, enough for two meals. Will be back! Staff friendly, family atmosphere. Great lunch spot. Food reasonably priced. Many healthy options and many not so healthy but delicious options like the cheese fries!!! Yum. A new restaurant for my favorites list.
It's right there in the name it is a good old fashioned hamburger and then some. The French dip sandwich is good and they have some pretty tasty pork chops. Top all of that off with a full bar and friendly service.
Great burger joint! Delicious food and super friendly service. Took the whole family there and everyone left with full stomachs and smiles. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids though, the fries and potatoes are pretty heavily salted. But that's what makes them so darned good.
It's been a couple decades since I've eaten here, used to come with my wife after moving to Dallas. Just as good as aI recall and after driving for 14hrs this was a great burger to enjoy with some wine I picked up in my hotel. It live up to the memories and on the way back through Dallas, this time with my wife, I took her today 11/19. She loved it. Fresh, delicious burgers on seeded butter buns with lots of options for kicked up toppings. Fried mushroom app is delicious. Until next time, keep making great food Chip's!
We go every year we're in Dallas. It has an amazing feel of an old fashions burger and malt shop. Great sandwich selection. Service is always great.
One of best burgers in Dallas and so many fries and onion rings with my order that I had to get them to go & I normally never have problem finishing my fries. Great price! Great customer service. If you haven't been you need to get there.
Good value on classic burgers. Counter ordering with polite runners bringing food to the table. Can be a little loud, but it’s a burger joint. Worth diverting to.
It was me and my mother’s first time being here. We both had Philly cheesesteaks and they were absolutely delicious. Customer service was friendly and excellent. We will definitely be back and try some more food!
LOVE THE FRIED PICKELS EXTRA CRISPY...THEY ARE AWESOME
This place is awesome! I had the Bison burger and it was absolutely delicious. Chocolate milk shake is great. The atmosphere is super unique because the building used to be a church I think. There are a lot of fun quirky details all over the place. Might be hard to find parking at peak times but the nearby neighborhood has parking on the street.
My wife and I are newlyweds and we were recommended to come here by family. Other than the fact that it was named a burger place, we didn't know what to expect. They have varying sizes of burgers. We both got the 1/3rd lb. patty adding cheese and bacon and 2 sodas. They also have different kinds of buns, including a poppy seed butter bun. The manager Jacks, I hope that's his name, recommended it. It was reasonably priced and very good. The bun itself was unique and delicious. This location has a full bar and a shaved ice station, which in the August heat my wife loved. There's also a neat sign to the patio that says, "HAMBURGER PATTY-O," which both of use had a great laugh about. Heavily recommend this place and when we come back to Dallas we will come back here.
omg the food here is delicious me & my family enjoyed the environment & atmosphere , kid friendly & the outside looking beautiful with all the plants , love it here coming back next week haha
Stopped by here today having heard about this place. Upon arriving this restaurant has that old fashioned family run business feel to it. The restaurant was very clean and it did not take long to place an order. My father who joined me went to another location a while back, and had wanted to try this place too. The food did take some time to come out despite us being one of 5 other tables at the restaurant, four of which had food already. The food did arrive hot and fresh though, and everything was very good for the price paid. The beef and fries were also perfectly seasoned, not too much, but just the right amount to balance the seasoning to the beef flavor. The staff here was friendly too and treated us well during our time eating here, and definitely had feeling if a family run business rather than a big corporate restaurant. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, it's an experience in itself that's worth trying.
I love Chip's discovered this hamburger place back in 2009. I've been coming ever since! The Hamburgers 🍔 are perfect they are not over seasoned with some crazy condiment like other Burger joints, nothing but the natural beefy flavor and taste. All food is cooked to order and hot when it's served to you at the table. Chip's staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Thanks a lot for another great lunch Chip's. I'll be back SOON!!!
Had a delicious bison burger with bacon and cheese. I could taste the quality. Few places does cheesy fries good but chips knocked it out of the park. The cheese was gooey and had bacon on top. And to make things better I had a Creamsicle shake. Great meal just the surrounding area was iffy. None of the crosswalk buttons work but that's not chips fault. Amazing food wide space to socially distance.
Burger for 2. Not a bad price for a date. Share your tots to make it romantic. The regular burger and a cheeseburger with a side of tots. Napoleon Dynamite would be proud of me. Don’t forget to get a side of ranch. MKM on the table. (Mustard Ketchup Mayonnaise) Poppy seed bun. 2 dranks! Self serve soda fountain or fresh brewed tea. $27.13 before tip.
This was a recommendation by my beautiful and smart daughter. We all had cheeseburgers all the way with French fries. The burgers are cooked medium and the bun is a poppyseed one that was light and buttery. Seriously this was a good burger. I didn't have time for desert. While leaving a saw them bring out some crispy onion straws that looked incredible. I will be coming back and will get them next time. The atmosphere was old school one off family owned. Loved it. Thanks Chips
Chips is the truth! The burger was about 6+ napkins delicious. The nachos are mini tostadas and consistency and care shows. The guacamole (which I do not eat) is visibly hand stirred (a plus). I will be back to try the rest of the menu.....Chips ain't just burgers and the seating is DIY!!! Reasonable meal in a spectacular setting and that ain't the double whiskey sour talking🤣🤣🤣!!!
What a nostalgic and classic burger joint! The building is unmistakable and fun! The food is wonderful! Best fried pickles I've ever had! The milkshake is classic tasting and a good size. I had the steak fingers basket with red mashed potatoes. These steak fingers were so tender and no grissle. I highly recommend this mom and pop burger place. I will be back to try more of their huge menu.
Now this is how you prepare a Philly Cheesesteak. Every bite was satisfying. I will make it a point to return. Thank you Chips!
Great menu options from vegetarian to meat lovers and the service is quick but the atmosphere does have a little bit to be desired but it is a hamburger joint what do I expect?
Great food, amazing service! Total best local burger joint vibes! Grillzilla- it just might change your life.
Great food as usual. I usually get the 1/3 doublew cheese no poppy seeds add bacon avocado all veggies and loaded cheese fries bottle Coco Cola hits the spot every time!
This place is a historic landing point in Dallas. We've had multiple generations frequent this spot and the food has consistently been phenomenal. Best Burgers in Dallas!!! Literally. The Philly is amazing as well and have to get the sweet potatoe fries.
Great burger spot. We had several. I got their fried onion strings and that's EXACTLY how I love my fried onions! We were visiting from out of town, and this was a great neighborhood find.
We went there with a group of 7 on a busy Friday night and they got us food quick. The burgers were fresh and perfect. I don’t usually review but this whole experience compelled to write something. Thank you!
I really enjoyed the flavor of the burger. The only drawback was that the bun felt a little cold, so warming it up more would’ve made it perfect. I also asked about the size options for the tots, but the person taking our order said she didn’t have any to show, which was a bit confusing. We ended up getting the small, and it was actually plenty for my husband and me to share along with the 1/3-lb burger. Overall, still a solid spot with good food. There’s plenty of seating inside, but the parking lot is a bit crowded, especially with the current construction. My husband really liked the old-school ambience, which added to the overall experience. Still a solid spot with good food.
Absolutely scrumptious burgers, fries, and shoestring onions! I had a bison burger and my husband got beef with chili. Chip's chili is so dang good!! Service was fast and friendly. We're adding Chip's to our must-visit list when landing at Dallas Love Field as it's not far from the airport and the food is delicious!
Been a customer since the 1980’s starting at the Harry Hines location. This location on Lovers Lane is a classic burger place. The order process is organized and efficient. The menu is expansive and able to satisfy different tastes. The burger is fantastic. The sesame seed buns are a must. The meat is premium grade and perfectly paired with fresh vegetables. Your first bite confirms the term “ old fashion “ is in your hands. French fries are golden brown with the right crunch. Atmosphere and vibe are conducive to relaxed dining. Parking is a challenge due to alley construction. If you haven’t eaten here - Go ! If have been - Go again! One of the best burgers in DFW.
Great old-school burger joint! Even though I had the philly steak sandwich...which was one of the best since the ones I had in Philly. They pack the meat, cheese, peppers, and onion into an awesome roll. Their tater tots were great too: crispy and well seasoned. Cudos to Moises, who was genuinely friendly and seems to really care about the customers. In the words of the Terminator...I'll be back!
Food was delicious old school vibes and poppy seeds on the bun. Very cool inside they offer patio seating also a bar inside for the adults. Parking is a little tight and limited but if I can do it in my suburban you can too.
Actually, one of the best burgers I have had in a while. They are very filling if you get the half pound, you may not even finish it. I like to get a Cheeseburger with bacon and hickory sauce with a small fry and a drink. Usually feels my up and I am satisfied, but that satisfaction comes with a price. While you could spend less elsewhere, you get what you pay for. Parking is a little limited
The food was good, the menu was extensive. The service was quick and the atmosphere was cozy and very un-Dallas. The fried pickles were not the best and not the worst - moderately greasy. I've had better. The tuna burger was to die for. The seating was tight but it was all clean except for an area where some plate contents had hit the floor, but I think they were working on picking it up.
Good experience. My wife had the kids burger. Come with fries and a drink for $5.99. Well worth it. I got the half pound cheeseburger with bacon and a side order of loaded fries. The patty is a little basic but the accessory ingredients were solid. Pretty tasty and the bacon on it was good! Really cool place to watch a game inside with a walk up bar from the boardwalk side and a patio with heaters. Food was very good and the service was quick and friendly. Can't wait for the other places to open up around it to make it a cool, fun place to hang out.
I love mushroom Swiss burgers. I am from out of town and wanted to try one from here. I wasnt aware that the portobello burger didn't come with a burger patty. Slightly disappointed that there isnt a standard reply from the staff when this item is ordered that it does not come with a burger patty. I'm sure locals and regulars know this, but being from out of town, I did not.
What can I say about this place been going since it was on. North Central Expressway The meat patties have always been good. But seems like today. They're using a blend of 90/10 Which makes the Patty a hard chew. They need to reconsider their meat blend to get a better Patty. Onion rings and fries. Are still great.
It is a nice burger place. It is good in every way but I dont find it exceptional in any area. You get what you expect amd I think that is a good thing.
Nice little quaint place . Haven't been here in at least 10 years. Burgers are pretty good nice and juicy. Get the onion nest. Those are the best around. The customer service could improve a bit as most transactions do not end in a smile nor a thank you. Also please use extreme caution when entering the parking lot. There's a pot hole there that's sure to jar your spine!
Was in the area with friends, stopped in for dinner, nice fresh made hamburgers, nothing really special to be excited about, if you like freshly made hamburgers this is a place to get it.
Fun, hole in the wall place. Friendly service and great burgers! The seating is close and tight but a decent amount. Not a lot of parking.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Chip’s Hamburgers off of Lover’s Lane in Dallas. A lot has changed there since I was last in and most of it was due to the virus. What hasn’t changed is the quality of the food and the service. There was a line out the door, but the staff were efficient and accommodating. I ordered the ½ pound, onion strings, and the Oreo shake. The shake was super thick, which is how I like them. Maybe their hard to drink through a straw, but they’re tasty and this one required a spoon. The onion strings were flavorfully battered. Nothing super special but tasty. The ranch supplied to eat them with was surprisingly not overpowering. The burger was definitely the star here. Pre-formed patty, seared and grilled to perfection with decent flavor and juiciness. The garden was reasonable, nothing particularly stood out but you could taste each item. The poppy-seed bun held well under pressure. The sandwich did try to fall apart near the end, but that was largely my own fault for not pressing the back-end earlier while eating it. Overall, if Chip’s were closer to home and not as busy, I might regular the restaurant. It’s certainly not the best burger in the city, but it’s well worth enjoying at least once. 4/5 If you would like to read more reviews about DFW's amazing local burger shops, look us up on Facebook (@BurgerByteDFW), Instagram (@BurgerByteDFW), and Twitter (@ByteDFW) #DFWBurgers #GoodEats #Foodie #DFWFoodie #Burger #Burgers #DallasBurger #DallasBurgers #DallasFoodie #FortWorthBurger #FortWorthBurgers #FortWorthFoodie #DFWBurger #ShopLocal #ShopDFW #SupportLocal
First, I'll start with the tater tots were great. My hamburger patty came cooked as I asked. But, I ordered a hamburger and got cheese - American cheese at that. 🤢 I ordered wheat bread but got poppy seed. Warning: no fault of their own, but at the time of this review, the construction around that area sucks!!
My brother and I stopped here for a late lunch one day. The place was empty and we sat in the garden room instead of the dark inside. We both ordered hamburgers and sparkling water. The service was pretty slow considering we were the only customers. When the food finally arrived, it was quite tasty so we were happy. Pictures were not good. Next time.
First time in. Large menu with good variety. I tried steak fingers and mashed potatoes. Steak fingers and gravy were very good. Mashed potatoes would have been good but all I could taste was the salt in them. Fries others were having looked quite good, so I'll opt for those next time. Very clean. Enclosed Patio was lovely. I'm looking forward to going back!
Chips is an interesting little place. Seems a lot lake a place where everyone would know your name. Real family vibe. As far as the environment, it's definitely family-friendly. Lots of colors, a little arcade thing, and kids running around. The night we went, there was a children's soccer team there, so probably more kids than usual. As far as the burger is concerned, it's forgettable. Now, not to say it's a bad burger, but it's not one of those "hey, let's go THERE" places. Like, it's ok, but not SUPER! The drinks are good, and there's a TV to keep up with sports action. Nice bar area. Anyhow, the staff is awesome and the food is decent. If you're in the neighborhood, I definitely recommend it!
I generally love this place, burgers are good, great options and a casual environment. It's been frustrating lately though, I live close so if we have an errand nearby we think to call for a few burgers or burger to go, but we keep getting left on hold for so long that it makes it impossible to place the order. The past three wait times have been, 9 minutes, 11 minutes, and 6 minutes 49 seconds. They ask if you can hold but never allow you to respond, so you wait 10 minutes for what would take you 15 seconds to say and turn something that would have been a quick convenient trip to a frustrating, pointless endeavor.
It's been nearly 20 years since I have been to this restaurant. Below average burgers and hand cut fries. They have a big variety of burgers and sandwiches, but I haven't tried too much of the other fare.
Busy Park Cities location was full of families and toddlers on a Saturday evening, which made for a lively (and loud) environment. Our first impression was that the place was not very clean - booths had rickety tables and sticky plastic tablecloths. The condiment bottles needed wiping, and the floor needed a good mopping. The actual food was just ok. Solid burgers and tots, but the Santa Fe chicken sandwich was hard and overdone, with a pile of greasy onions and soggy bread. Sweet potato fries were underwhelming. Sad to see this place dropping its quality and standards- like many post-covid restaurants. Hopefully, they can get back on track to the great burger joint they once were!
The burger had no flavor, but the fries were good. They did mess up my order, and since my sister-in-law was the one who picked it up for us, I can hardly complain, but the burger should have been the best part instead of the fries.
My husband and I visited this restaurant 7/09/2025 at approximately 8:55 PM. We were happy to find this restaurant as our daughter was having her baby at Dallas Presbyterian so it was close by. A rude gentleman behind the counter tells us they are taking to go orders only, which was disappointing, but no issue. It was just the attitude in which he informed us. After we ordered over $80 he puts a sign up saying to go only. Two of the burgers were not done in the middle and the burgers were not very good. The fries were hot, so that was a plus. I will never return again. Kindness and hostility go a long way, but if you are going to be rude to customers the food better be really good.
Burgers were below average. Loaded fries were not hot, cheese was a cold glob. What can be worse than lukewarm fries?
I went off road and ordered the chili cheese hot dog and it was simply too salty and the wrong choice. But the tater tots are always crispy and good. I need to stick with the tried and true burgers.
Cold food- I’ve been coming here for 20 years, normally loved it but for the last 1-2 years almost every time we come the burger comes out cold and fires are cold. It’s strange really.. only posting this to try to help them change. I’ve said something bc I need them to do better, I’m still going to come here, but so sick of the cold fries and burger. It’s just odd how consistent it is. Will change this back to 5 stars if they change it
Frozen patties for the 1/2 lb burger, giving 2 stars because they offered a gluten free option. Onion strings were the best part, have lived in Dallas my whole life and finally got to try Chips. Very disappointed Wife did not like the Philly cheese steak. "The ones they serve at UTSW hospital are better"
My wife and I have eaten here for over 40 years and the burgers were great but since the pandemic the burger have been terrible. The buns and meat were tough and cheese wasn’t melted. We won’t go to the Plano location because it was also awful. The staff was nice but I can understand they don’t pay enough money for them to care.Cooking a hamburger is not that hard.We use to go after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not anymore just awful
Great place, been here many times. The best burgers in Dallas. But... Service absolutely sucks. Always have to repeat the order, and still no one gets is correct. Just be patiencent even though you should have too. Food is great!
**** Critic’s Review… Sad **** Although the food quality is tasty, the issues and poor cleanliness will keep me away. My Burger: Good size, meat to the edges of the bun, a traditional big burger. I kept it simple… 1/3 lb patty cooked medium, cheese, crispy bacon, double lettuce, and ketchup. Flavor score: 8 of 10 However, when I ordered cheese, I was not asked which type. They offer several cheeses and I was testing the cashier. Sadly, the cashier picked American without saying anything. There was no ketchup on the burger and the lettuce was so minimal, you could barely see it in the center cut photo (left half) - not even close the 2x I ordered. I was able to get a side of lettuce which I used on the right 1/2 of the center cut photo to demonstrate what I expected. Not a good order fulfillment. Overall: 3 out of 10 for bad construction. Onion Rings - thin cut: What a delicious blast!!! Ate every one!!! Delicious! Score: 9 of 10 Fries: I asked for extra crispy “so they snap”. I was told it could be done. Sadly, got so-so medium cooked and not really crispy at all. Only ate a few with ranch… about 8-10 fries in all. Sadly, just ordinary. (Do not expect crispy.) Score: 4 of 10 Chocolate Shake: Perfect thickness to get through a straw without being too runny. But that’s only when you first get it. That fact is gone within 6+/- minutes. It’s served in a thin plastic cup - not styrofoam to keep it cold. (Stupid mistake!) Would be better to be thinker and colder to last longer. Lost it’s consistency 1/2 way through it. Score: 3 of 10… (but flavor is 9 of 10.) Bar $16 for a class of cheap Chardonnay that costs $14 a bottle retail is a bit much per glass. Get water and drink at home. Bathrooms: Not good - sadly disgusting. Go before you arrive! Friend said she had flys all over the seat in there and “wanted to be anywhere else!” Score: 2 of 10 (I would give a zero but I didn’t go in the women’s bathroom and see it personally.) Music: They play country music a little too loud to chat easily. (Really? Is this a burger joint or BBQ place?!?) I was ready to move a few tables and start 2-stepping! Classic 60’s-70’s wold be a better match to the decor. Atmosphere: Visually fun… but the walls are the cleanest part of this place. Our table was sticky from the first time I touch it! I went to wash my hands and wanted move tables, but she said no. Seemed to only have had crumbs brushed on the floor all day long between customers - never wiped down with cleaning solution and a rag all day. (And in the 90 min we were there, customers came and went but I never observed a table wipe down!) Ugh - the floor was rancid throughout the dining area… 20-30 foot area of visible old sticky spills from the day all over the ‘main walkway’. You could see gross areas so noticeably it was easy to step around the small spots. I told staff it needed to be cleaned now and in the 90 minutes we were there… no one cleaned it. (Lazy standards!) Accountability it at the top!!! Needs a new GM! Also, 6pm on a Monday night there were only 3 other tables while we were there. At a minimum, that should have been 8-10 tables. Seems people have noticed what I see and are silent voting by not going back. FYI - I asked for a to-go portion of lettuce in a sealed container. Although airtight, 15 hours later, the lettuce was mostly brown. Not very fresh or if the sack was opened that day… it’s the cheapest available. (Many places I test for lettuce to-go can last 15+ hrs staying fresh… and Tex-Mex places are the best!) If the tables, floors and bathrooms are this gross… what will you find in the food storage areas, freezers and refrigerators?!? (Did they get a segment on “Kitchen Nightmares” with Gordon Ramsey?!? They definitely qualify from what I saw!) Overall Score = 2 stars Unfortunately, if everyone has my experience… it’s only an overall 2 star (and that’s being generous!) The food is tasty - but I’m now scared of what I’m eating there. Today… you are not getting yesterday’s food.
I grew up going to Chip at the location that was off central expressway a long time ago. Along with that location coming to an end, so is the excellent establishment it use to be. I do not live in the Dallas area anymore, so I really look forward to coming back and going to Chips. I will not do so anymore. Our last "Three" visits were not good....At all! This last time my burger was undercooked and unseasoned. They said they were out of onion rings. On a Saturday? I believe that simply did not want to cook anymore. My fries were bone cold. Not warm. Cold! To make matters worst, they started sweeping around our table as we were eating. I understand that you want to get home but this is unacceptable. I have worked in the food industry and you never sweep around a table where patroons are eating unless you are cleaning up broken glass or some mess that may have been made that will cause a hazard. This was not the case. It was getting close to closing and they wanted to get a jump on cleaning. As stated, the last three visits have not been good, and I will not even get into the other two. But I will not give them the opportunity for a fourth visit to take my money and serve subpar food. Not sure ownership has change but it is not the same Chips I grew up with. The only reason I did not give it one star was because the banana shake was good. Otherwise, there are other great burger places in the Dallas area that still take pride in their product.
I ordered the chili dog. The chili tasted overcooked and burnt. The bread also tasted burnt. Chili dogs are my favorite food. This was so disappointing. I live so close to walk. It may not be worth it. Nothing delicious to speak of. UPDATE: I puked it all up.
Bad customer service… employees play to much .. at the restaurant and when people call the store they want to act goofy .. I came here and they literally saw us standing their for 10 min and the 2 guys where in the corner playing around knowing they saw us and never greeted us or said anything, I asked one of the employees that was in the corner if this is where we order and he said yes and minutes later he decided to walk up whenever he felt like it .. to the register like nothing to take our order .. like he did not just ignore us for 10 minutes and pretended like we weren’t standing there .. it was my first time here and I was wondering how the menu worked and I asked him and he just ignored me and I had to figure it out myself I expected better service since it was my first time I wanted to know what was recommended but those 2 guys ruined the whole experience .. BAD SERVICE!!! The food is good but the employees are horrible
Wow, I have never experienced this kind of rude or outright atrocious behavior from an establishments employee in my life. I work in the area and very often get lunch from Chip's during my shifts. This morning I was walking into work with my hands full, nearly about to drop everything, when I dropped my empty coffee cup into the trash can in Chip's PARKING LOT. An employee of Chip's came outside, called me back, saw my hands were full and that I was struggling, and told me I had to dig my cup out of the trash can. I have often had people in Dallas offer to help others and be kind but this is my first experience having someone be out right hateful to someone. This man was mean, condescending and seemed to take joy from the situation. After this humiliating experience, I will NEVER give my money to this establishment and suggest it like I have in the past. I will happily drive somewhere else for my lunch from here on. Do better, Chip's. This is supposed to be a family friendly place.
This place has really gone downhill since my earlier 4 star review of a few years ago. I moved to another state and was back in town on business. I decided to go to this old favorite neighborhood burger restaurant. They got my order wrong twice, thus taking way longer to get served the right order than it should have. All I got was a sorry from someone who didn't act like they understood what was being ordered or said. My chicken fried steak was way overcooked once it arrived to top it off. Has ownership changed? If not, is there no ownership on site? It didn't look like it and if they were, then shame on them for not doing a better job and hiring a better staff. Very disappointing and I won't be back.
So disappointed in the fish (the last piece of fish was NOT cooked long enough as it immediately tasted RANCID, awful and very BAD (i had to spit it out so i wouldn't get food poisoning from improperly cooked fish). We have been eating fish and chips for over 12 years at the former Lakewood location and this Lovers Lane location and up until now, it was wonderful. I read the review that Chip's is under "new" ownership (Brent) and how he mistreats his employees. Brent, would you want to be treated this way? Don't you know the golden rule? "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." You're just going to lose many loyal customers and hopefully all of your employees. There's absolutely no reason to scream at good, hardworking employees (I've been screamed at on the job in the medical field in 1995 so i know how it feels. I refused to take it and was not going to come back the next day, but luckily I got fired). Bad guys and bad behavior NEVER win. Please, Brent, don't let the devil get a hold of your mind, which is where all sin begins - in the mind. Do you believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit? Please, I beg you, get a Bible, open it and read just one verse. It's not hard. That's all it takes to get started on the right path. Please don't ruin a unique place like Chip's which so many people really like and have been going to for decades. You lost my business for sure. I can tolerate slow service, occasion order mistakes and an unclean table (big deal), but BAD FISH - no way. Thank God my sister or a child didn't get this bad fish. I know it's hard out there now after the pandemic, but that's no excuse to mistreat people. The battle is the Lord's. I have so many fond memories of going to Chip's Lakewood with my late honey, and at this location with my twin sister. I really enjoyed eating in the "PATTY-O" (!!) and am going to really miss it; and sadly, I have made the decision to NEVER go back to Chip's because I am too scared to eat their food. Don't trust the cooks anymore. Well, there goes another good ol' eatin' place. By Friday, hardworking people just need a good place to eat and relax. I am so tired of this big vain, selfish and critical city (Dallas and snooty Park Cities) that I would love to move out. Dallas has gotten too big for it's britches. I sure don't like the way you responded to the people who took time out of their busy day to write detailed, truthful reviews. You reap what you sow. The love of money is the root of all evil. How dare you take what was once a great burger joint and run it into the ground. There just ain't no sense in mistreating good, hardworking people. You're going to get it back ten-fold.
These were my loaded cheese fries. They were cold, dry, and stuck together with dried cheese. It looks like leftovers they picked up off an old customers table and resold. Also, my fried pickles was soaked and grease and not even crispy with a watered down chocolate shake. This was the worst food and service I have ever received. When I complained and asks for replacement the cook came from out of the kitchen got in my face and said I made these there is nothing wrong with them so shut up and eat them! My husband is very upset and making it a point to make contact with this short little Latino cook. I give 0 stars and they should be closed down by health department. We all have gotten sick from the food and gaking turns on the toilet. O.M.G. Disgusting...
This place is one of the rudest places I’ve been too! I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. I was waiting For over 20 minutes watching other people get their food when I asked about my chicken they started to argue with me and tell me I ordered beef. I DONT EVEN EAT BEEF OR ANY RED MEAT FOR THAT MATTER. Why would I order that?! After arguing with him for 5 minutes! He still continues too say my food would have been out already if id ordered the chicken like I claim!
My experience at Chips wasn’t a great one. 1. The air conditioning is minimal 2. The service I received from the guy working the cash register was just underwhelming. He was almost bothered I was making a food order, not at all thankful I chose chips for my lunch option. 3. I order the hamburger basket, fries, and a drink. The beef burger resembled a breakfast sausage sitting inside a giant poppy seed bun. Almost a scavenger hunt inside the sandwich. 4. After getting our food, no one ever checked on us to see if we were doing ok or enjoying our meal. 5. I don’t remember the exact total but it was ballpark $40 for lunch for 2 of basic diner lunch plates and drinks. The food wasn’t horrible, just kinda plain and served without a hint of appreciation in a crowed stuffy room. Now I remember why it’s been 5+ years since my last visit. Not bashing, just an honest review.
