Omg when I tell you this smoke meat is fire. That’s an understatement. Brisket nice and tender and easy to swallow. Ribs falling off the bone. The smoke taste hits you before you enter the location. Great hospitality, great prices. I will definitely come back here every time I am in Dallas. Nice music, clean restaurant, Nice!!!
Good food and the owner is so friendly and works right along with the rest of the staff.
Great service and good! We always come here for lunch. Great lunch specials
Great good, friendly staff, we loved it so much we went back the next night!
Great place for a traditional well-smoked Texan BBQ, we always stop here when in the area.
The brisket is so flavorful it didn’t need any sauce! Whole chicken was yummy! And the service was excellent with smiles all around. Highly recommend Bug Al’s!
I've eaten bbq for 60+ years and tried every 'que' restaurant in Dallas. My passion is jalapeno sausage, and normally I don't like to have cheese included with the sausage. I had the loaded stuff baked potato with the jalapeno & cheese sausage and it was the best I've ever had -- very lean, no fat or grease, and the taste was excellent. I will be back! -- Dan Wyde
Lauren and Pedro were amazing hosts. The food was awesome as always and the service was outstanding!!! Thank you guys for the perfect BBQ experience that I needed!!
Great service. Great food. Very clean atmosphere.
Great food, great service, and good sense of community for this longtime family-owned restaurant!
Food was good but some things were a little tough for me ( low and slow in the South for the most tender BBQ). The mats are mostly smoked vs charcoal BBQ. The side items were very fresh and the portions were large. We wanted to try a little bit of everything. The atmosphere is excellent and the service is great also. This is a large facility with lots of dining space, able to accommodate large parties, and comfortably enjoy your meal
This was my last BBQ stop on my week long Texas business trip, and it was a strong finish! I had my favorite trio, Brisket, Pork Ribs, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage. All very good! The mac and cheese was great, and the BBQ beans were fantastic, with big chunks of brisket in it. I like that they give you a yeast roll on the side, too. All around a great BBQ stop!
Brisket always good and the beef bones were absolutely wonderful. Everything fresh made. The fries are real potatoes, not frozen. The best Q around. I drive from the Grove for the Q
Fantastic brisket and the sides hammerd home, loved the mac and cheeze for sure!
Big Al's never disappoints. Between the sandwiches to plates and deviled eggs!!! Good stuff. Stop by for a great barbecue meal.
10/10 would recommend The aroma hits you upon walking in. The service was top tier. The chopped beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and bbq baked beans topped it off.
Big Al’s is our “go to” for BBQ always!!! For me it’s the daily specials, the salad, the homemade potato chips or the frito pie. For my husband it’s the pork ribs - with Cole slaw and potato salad - always!! I promise to take photos next time but we just chow down too fast!
I have been eating at Big Al's BBQ since the 1900's (1982). Great BBQ and giant Baked Potatoes.
Big Al’s smokehouse is amazing!!! Mr iceberg came and asked us how was our meal and experience. It was amazing! He’s kind and also very welcoming you can tell he is proud to work for such a great place! The atmosphere is great and food is so delicious. The customer service was great as well when you walk up to get your order taken. Don’t drive by this smoke without stopping to take something home or to dine in! We love it and for sure will come back! In love! 👏👏
I have never had a bad meal at Big Al’s. One of the best around
The flavors are where Big Al's Smokehouse BBQ truly shines. From the first bite, you can tell that the meat has been expertly marinated and smoked to perfection. The balance of spices enhances the natural flavors without overwhelming them. Each bite is a delicious journey, leaving you craving more.
I have been to a lot of barbecue places living in both Kansas City and Dallas and Big Al’s Barbecue is the best I’ve had in a long long time.
Only about a mile from “The Original” Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse, and maybe two miles from Dallas Love Field, sits a classic Dallas-area barbecue joint called Big Al’s Smokehouse BBQ. They’ve been there smoking meat over hickory wood since 1974. Given that history, and given some of their brisket cooking adjustments that Daniel Vaughn reported on in Texas Monthly a couple years ago (see below), I was very hopeful to have a great experience. And, happily, I was not disappointed. I of course went with the Texas Trinity of brisket, pork ribs and their jalapeño sausage. They also offer a huge variety of both hot and cold self-serve sides at Big Al’s, and I was happy to see one of my all-time favorites, creamed corn. So I got some of that along with baked beans. ▪️Brisket – As I mentioned above, Daniel Vaughn reported that Big Al’s changed their approach to brisket in 2013, after nearly 40 years of cooking them completely untrimmed and then removing fat and bark to serve. Thankfully the new approach of trimming the brisket before cooking and then not trimming the beautiful bark off has remained for the last 6 years. My slices of brisket were outstanding. They were very flavorful, had a great super-dark bark, with a solid smoke ring and fat that was well rendered. ▪️Pork Ribs – The pork ribs were absolutely wonderful. They use St. Louis-style spareribs at Big Al’s. And these had a great chewy bark and a nice finishing sauce/glaze with a bit of sweetness. The meat was perfectly cooked – nice and tender, and it pulled away from the bone, but without falling off. ▪️Jalapeño sausage – The sausage had a good grind with very visible and delicious chunks of jalapenos. There was a snap to the casing, and it wasn’t too chewy. ▪️Sides – The baked beans and creamed corn were good. They were nothing to write home about, but there was nothing to complain about either. They complemented the meat very nicely. If you’re in the metro Dallas area anywhere near Love Field and haven’t tried Big Al’s Smokehouse BBQ, they are definitely worthy of a stop.
Been going to Big Al’s for years. Still one of the top BBQ joints in DFW for my money. No BS - just great BBQ and Great service!
Great baked potatoes, great chopped beef. Big Als been around for a long time. As a texan native, they are def my top 3 for bbq.
This BBQ restaurant has such a rich history along with some of the most amazing BBQ I have ate here in Dallas. I been to all of the popular and to be blunt overhyped restaurants around Dallas. Big Al Smokehouse BBQ hits all the right spots, great customer service, Texan ambiance, some of the best Mac N Cheese I have ever tasted and of course one of the most delicious BBQ! I tried the ribs, chopped beef and all of the slides. This place deserves to be jam packed everyday. Ditch the overhyped, waiting in line for hours, and decent BBQ. Try this one out you won’t regret it!
I was referred to this establishment by a friend, and it smelled Amazing as soon as I walked through the door's. I was able to order quickly, and Rosie was super sweet along with the staff. I ordered the Super-Stuffed Potato Bar😇. It was so delicious, stuffed with all the fixing, and the potato was soft🥰
This place was super amazing! I went in there looking for something called loaded macaroni and cheese. They did not have it, however they let me buy the separates that I needed to make it myself. And even gave me an extra container to do it with. I bought 11 oz of mac and cheese, half a pound of chopped beef with extra chives and shredded cheese. I got an extra thing of barbecue sauce to drape over it. When I tell you this was an amazing eating experience. The chopped beef was so tender and the mac and cheese was made just right, in my opinion. I saw some reviews that said it was too salty. I didn't think so; could have been a little more cheesier. Just because that's the way I like my mac and cheese is with extra cheesy taste. Believe me! LOL satisfied my craving to the T. I really appreciate good customer service like this. And I got all of that for under $20. Oh, one more thing, their peach cobbler is super amazing as well. I'm definitely going back!
When I tell you I fell in love 🥰 with this place 😊. Smelling the smoke off the street onto the parking lot and inside the place mmmmm 😋 made my heart happy 😄. Customer service was spot on and very friendly staff 💪🏾😊. I ordered sliced brisket sandwich and rib plate with jalapeno pinto beans and potatoes ( I don't order anyone's potato salad) but when I looked at it I just felt it was good to be good and I'm here to tell you it was it was on point mmmmmm 😋 I new everything else was going to be good. The meat falling off the bone till I was getting at the bone 😂 it was so seasoned mmmmm 😋 the brisket sandwich 😋 let's put it the way my mom speaks about real good brisket, it melts in your mouth and so tender ( well that's exactly how it was 😋). My grandson and I enjoyed every bit. I shared with family and friends 🤩. Big Al's you'll be seeing me soon. My parents want some of your barbecue 😁. ( ☹️ I'm sorry I don't have pictures I thought 🤔 I took some but I guess I was to into trying the food I forgot smh🤦🏾♀️). Nice portion size.i have now found my barbeque place 😁
José did a great job suggesting the pork ribs during the Saturday's special. He knows his business. Nice atmosphere, great tea, and delicious options on the bbq sauces available to try with your meal.
The food is off the chain! Season and a very good portion. I will definitely be back! Love the friendly smiling faces.
When I visited Big Al’s Smokehouse BBQ, I quickly understood why it has enjoyed a rich Dallas history for over 50 years. Family-owned and operated, Big Al’s has not compromised on their quality, service, or atmosphere. I found the staff to be very friendly. Some have proudly worked there for over 40 years. The brisket and pork ribs I ordered are among the best I have eaten. The same can also be said of their coleslaw, mac & cheese, BBQ beans, and potato salad. In addition, the Friday Catfish Special is not to be missed. The breading on their fried catfish is amazing and the hushpuppies contain whole kernel corn - a huge plus in my book! Big Al’s Smokehouse BBQ is a wonderful dining experience.
The food was amazing! I got the 3 meat plate with brisket, sausage, beef, Mac & cheese, and bbq beans plus chocolate cake. As someone who can’t eat much in one sitting, the portions were good for 2 meals for me. I usually don’t prefer super sweet baked beans but the flavor in these really hit. The frosting on the cake was everything I could’ve hoped for. Sorry, I couldn’t wait to take a picture before digging in. I ordered through Uber Eats, and there was no way to do just a 2 meat plate (the 3rd meat question was required and there was not a “none” option. Also, there were no drink options available.
Love Big Al’s! Been coming here all my life. It is our families go to for great BBQ! Even when we don’t dine in, we order in. Really you will get it right with what ever you order but I usually get some brisket, jalapeño cheese, sausage, and either a few pork ribs or one beef rib! Making me hungry again typing this….!
We are from CA and this place was recommended by the rental car shuttle driver. It was very close to the airport. My husband ordered a brisket sandwich and I ordered the loaded potato. The brisket was tender and juicy. Great food and friendly service. The brisket was cooked in the smoker for 17 hours according to the worker. Oh, they also have free soft serve vanilla ice cream. Can’t wait to return.
OMG - best BBQ in the town!! When I judge BBQ, I taste the meats with no sauce to evaluate the quality of the base cook, moisture and flavor. Then I taste with sauces. This place is 1000% worth the 50 years in business!! GO!! GO!! GO!! Yes, each meat is awesome, and the turkey is moist - not dry like 90% of other chains (or inexperienced places who not it pit masters). These guys have mastered BBQ -Texas style!!!! The ‘fatty brisket’ is highly trimmed and has no gristle or 2 inch fat belt like other places. Big Al’s is moist - no visible fat and succulent!!! DO NOT GET LEAN BRISKET!!! The fatty brisket is not what you get at other places!!!! This is what you want to ask for - and try to get some of the chard bark too!!! (I did - awesome!!) FYI- go there in off hours. Lunch can have no parking within 2 blocks and lines out the door. (No kidding.) But it’s absolutely worth the wait!!! I’ve revamped my top 3 BBQ places in Big D… and they are now #1. Congratulations!!!! And well deserved!!!
Big Al’s brisket is amazing! My friends and I ordered the dinner plate and everything we chose was fantastic! I ordered a double brisket and turkey with pinto beans and jalapeño , creamed corn, and the apple pie! My only gripe was that the portions given were a bit meager for an $18 plate. Nonetheless, everything tasted great!Inhaled it! I tried both the spicy and regular barbecue sauce and they were awesome! Their food is certainly legendary! The place was packed as it was their 50th anniversary and a tv crew was there to help celebrate the event. I’d definitely recommend this place and come back for more!
The best atmosphere for a BBQ place! Very friendly and efficient service. The whole restaurant was very clean. Only $15 for a chopped brisket sandwich with two sides. The chopped brisket was good! It is pre-sauced though. The okra is great and in a large serving! I really liked the coleslaw as well. The spicy sauce is great but I'm not a fan of Carolina style so I didn't give that one a try. Easy to get to location off Inwood with a good sized parking lot. I recommend you try this place if you're looking for a local BBQ lunch.
I do not know who granny is in the back cooking sides and who papa smoking that meat, but I need them to come move in with me! Everything was perfect! The service was fast and sweet, the juicy chicken, the macaroni and cheese was everything I needed in life and they even have some bbq sauce that's warmed in a pot for you. They give you one slice of texas toast per meal but you need to get an extra slice. The sweet tea ($2.50) wasn't too sweet and made a great Arnold Palmer. If you think you will not be that hungry, just treat yourself and get that 3 meat meal and take some home. That was my original thought, but i left with a spoon of corn and a little piece of chicken. The only thing I regret is not getting that peach cobbler but I will be back to right this wrong. We got one 3 meat meal, one 2 meat meal, 2 sodas and banana pudding and we spent right under $50 before tip, well worth it.
Great experience and price for food. The original sauce has a kick to it and is more tangy than sweet (to me). BBQ is good not overly seasoned. I loved the sides the most with the most. The pork beans 🫘 and green beans.
A stand in line and grab your own food type of place. The meats were ok but nothing special. I do like that they to not try and hide anything by covering it in sauce. The staff was very nice and answered all my questions and the place had lots of decorative items all over, very homey.
Got the Big Al's special with Carolina style pulled pork and hot links. It was delicious. The side were green beans and macaroni and cheese. The meat itself was excellent but the sides I chose were good but not the best. My wife got the brisket sandwich and loved it. She said it was the best brisket she has ever eaten. Definitely worth checking out Big Al's if you are in the area and craving BBQ. Different lunch specials and plenty of seating they get a good amount of people coming in during the lunch rush.
Wow. This was devoured in less than 5 mins. So soooo delicious. Cream corn & Bbq baked beans were my fav sides. The brisket was my fav meat! I thought the pulled pork was a bit too salty. Only wished they had the bread out to grab as one of the condiments. We only got 1 bun & 1 toast but paid for 2 toasts! Would def go back again though~
Today I had the opportunity to visit Big Al’s. It is worth the drive when in Dallas. My wife and I had their Meat Lovers Plate plus 1/2 pound of brisket. The brisket was tender and juicy also worth mention the beef rib was tender an full of flavor. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
I came for the brisket. As a hobby smoker from the midwest I have been looking forward to some true Texas BBQ where brisket is king. Sadly I've tried brisket at two places where it was said to be great and I was disappointed. I've had better brisket in Indiana. With Big Al's however that is where the disappointment stops. The smoked turkey is far and away the best I've had, the sausage was phenomenal, the beef rib was full of flavor, but the pork ribs...oh my Gawd! Perfectly cooked, amazing flavor with a great pull from the bone. I liked the creamed corn and Mac & cheese sides as well. Pair all that with a Blood and Honey from Revolver Brewing for an excellent meal.
After my friend picked me up from the airport, she recommended this spot for BBQ. They were so many meat options and sides to choose from. I decided on brisket and jalapeño sausage. I was disappointed fried okay was not available that day, so I got beans and mac. After we ordered, we found a table to eat at. The brisket was so juicy, and I loved the bark on the outside. I wish the sausage was a little hotter, but I enjoyed every bite. To my surprise, there was a complimentary ice cream machine in the dining area. Even though I was stuffed, I made room for some vanilla soft serve. There were toppings available as well, but I ate mine plain. Overall, I'd quickly return here when in Dallas again.
I was referred to Big Al's by a local uber driver so I checked it out. The atmosphere definitely fits the bill of a bbq joint, the staff was welcoming and helpful. The bbq was as follow, Brisket - average and was dry Ribs - average or below. Idk when was the last time I saw ribs this small. They were dry. Turkey - above average and tender Brisket - average and very dry. Potato salad - below average and very bland with big chunks of potato Cream of corn - delish Sauces - really liked the warm original sauce but the other two were so so. They have buttermilk pickles which is yuck and I don't see that often and def not a fan. I'll probably never revisit because there are so many places to try but worth the visit if you are on a quest to try as much variety as possible.
The Brisket is amazing!!!! You can't go wrong with their brisket, best I ever had. My issue was that all the sides fell flat, nothing special about baked beans, bit creamed corn tasted like it was sold or hard, maybe from can. I did they their fried okra, it is cooked fresh and it's hot, large portion but it was extremely salty. Think extra salt was added, so maybe just asking for no salt to be added would make that better. Again, brisket was amazing, so it's a must try when in Dallas. Oh, skipped the margaritas it's not anything special, very weak, no real flavor.
I got the three meat plate with Brisket, ribs and jalapeño sausage. Sides were beans and slaw. I asked for a good pieces of the bark off the point. It was great with tons of flavor. Not exactly melt in my mouth burnt ends but very tasty. Ribs were big and meaty with good flavor and moistness. Sausage was on the dry and tough side (probably sat for to long as I was in well after the lunch rush) Beans were good, slaw was online with kfc slaw. Can’t recommend the slaw.
Pretty in and out so not much staff interaction. The beef ribs were good, so was the turkey. They forgot our potatoe salad, and the deviled eggs were absolutely trash! Sorry not sorry the filing taste like powder eggs or protein powder mixed with sweet relish and the egg white part was old the outside was rubbery. If your a real brisket person ( not Texas BBQ ) this aint it ….. sausage was good baked potato was ok as well.
Well, I have been a fan since we moved here from East Chicago, that's been since 2004. I have follotBug Al since. His other bar on Dallas, and Mexico. I was very siked to visit his restaurant in Waxahachie. The bartenders were amazing, they were "on it". Our food came out promptly, we ordered the volcano nachos with both chicken and brisket. The chicken, brisket, and cheese was dry. We ordered bone in wings, plain with buffalo at the side, they were dry as well. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the food. The women's toilet needs to be fixed, because it is so catawampus. I know the potential of this place. We will give it another try.
I have worked close by for the past 23 years. I finally tried it. I ordered the brisket sandwich, with Mac and cheese, and fries. The sandwich was just OK, and the Mac and cheese was above average. The brikset was dry and lacked any smoke flavor. Had I only had the fried I would give this place 4 stars. The fries stole the show. At this point I am unsure if I would come back given all the other choices in this part of town.
Brisket was dry and flavorless. I did the 3 meat plate with brisket, pork ribs, and beef ribs. To add a beef rib as one of the 3 meats it's a $3 charge, and they literally give you ONE beef rib in place of the 3rd meet you are already paying for. LOL. Pork ribs (2) were soft, but flavorless. The beef rib was actually good. Sides were abysmal. The mashed potatoes were so old there were dried out bits, disgusting. Worst $25 bucks I've spent in quite a while.
Hadn't been here in a while and oh boy, has it changed. Ordered 1/2 lb brisket with sides. The brisket was mostly fat, with portions not even cooked all the way. On top of that it was barely room temperature. The sides saved it from a 1 star, but hopefully they can turn this around. Used to be really good.
Overpriced BBQ! I hardly ever post negative reviews, but the bottom picture is what I received for $35. It looks great, but where's the rest of it? I called and informed the owner raised the prices three months ago and go ahead and post my dissatisfaction. I won't be ordering again.
After my 5-star visit in March (see picture below), visited again in June. This time not so great. Brisket sliced with- instead of across the fiber. Sausage and ribs dry. Broke down soft serve ice cream machine, just as I arrived (and dropped my $25 on a self serve meal). Inconsistent at best. Will not be back.
No seasoning on the brisket texture was mid , macaroni was hard and cold and no seasoning 2/5
This place was pretty busy at lunch. Maybe with regulars who know what not to get. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came soaked in sauce. The sauce was good but I’m not sure what the pork tastes like. I’d be surprised if it was cooked the same day. Only recommend to old people who can’t taste or chew.
I personally would never order again. The portion was not appropriate for $30. The sausage tasted great but arrived cold. The turkey arrived cold as well but was also dry and flavorless. The ribs were cooked to perfection and arrived hot but lacked any flavor. I do not like bbq that forces me to use bbq sauce, I prefer a seasoned rub which this bbq lacks. The spicy bbq sauce was amazing. The baked beans were great. The potato salad had no eggs and tasted like a bowl of onions thankfully I like onions but I wouldn’t order again.
If you’re looking for Texas BBQ, this ain’t it. This is like fast food BBQ. Went for lunch and ordered the BBQ dinner with chicken and brisket. The meat was cold and dry like it had been sitting out, very disappointing. You can tell they don’t have a good system down to keep it fresh. The roll they gave me was also rock hard, sides were ok, but nothing special. Definitely won’t be back.
Don’t get the Taco Tuesday Brisket Tacos, Brisket tacos were 90% fat, should have been disposed of trimmings, they make it in the back and bring it out, I can see why now, I would prefer they not have a “special “, if they are trying to save on food costs, just don’t have one….
Atmosphere was great, service was great, food was beyond disappointing, especially for the price. The most dry brisket I've ever had, and the chicken wasn't much better. Flavor was good but both were severely overcooked. Sausage and sides were great, though! Just nowhere near where it should be for $25/person.
Don’t order via uber eats or DoorDash. I ordered Mac n cheese and got mac that tasted like it had a little salt and pepper on it and a teaspoon of mayonnaise. There was NO cheese, minimal flavor, tasted old and looked like the last scrapings of the day. I’d rather a restaurant notify me they’re out of one of my selections vs sending me trash. The noodles taste like someone poured a little cream of chicken soup on wet noodles and tried to pass it off as cheese. Very disappointed with the sides. The turkey is a 5/10 the sides are 2/10.
HORRIBLE! Ordered food delivery for my family's 4th of July celebration. Pre-ordered that morning and got a confirmation. But.... when driver got there they REFUSED to make my order. Driver said they were unbelievably RUDE.And said they will never choose to go there again. When I called to figure out the issue, RUDE toned woman said they had turned off the delivery machine and were not honoring the orders. SERIOUSLY!!! Called to speak to a manager. 1st put on hold, only to be hung up on. Called back, asked again to speak to a manager, left on hold til I gave up. I've ordered from here several times this year without any issues until time before this, when they completely left out sides of my order. But food is really good and I gave them another chance. Disappointed and now scrambling to figure out another plan for my "relaxing" holiday. I am a person who loves to support mom/pop places like this place. Additionally, I have worked at several restaurants and really have what I believe are reasonable expectations. But... when as a customer, I am shown that I just don't matter through the obvious lack of even the minimum of courtesy of "customer service", I can find the exit and never get Big Al's BBQ again. $$$ talks and mine is leaving 😢.
This place has gone way down hill in my opinion. I just purchased half rack of ribs and baked potato and it was very cold. All the food was cold the baked potato want even melt butter and the ribs was cold and not good. I went back to the counter and they gave me another bake potato just as cold as the first one and I inquired why the ribs also so cold the guy said thats the way they serve them. I said so you serve the food cold like that he said yes nothing he can do nothing about it. I tossed everything in the trash $37.35 down the drain I want be back. I should have checked the reviews before I came. Clients don't pay $37.35 for cold food it wasn't even warm.
UPDATE: After reading the manager's response to this review, I decided to give this place another try, because I really used to like this restaurant. I went in on Friday 12/20/19 at 3:00 pm. I again, ordered the fish special, which they advertise on their sign as the daily special. Caroline took my order and told me that they are out of fish. I said that it is Friday and it's not even dinner time yet. She said that they stop serving fish at lunch. I then spoke to the cashier, Jesus who said the same thing. Jesus said that Pedro is the manager and he has been the kitchen manager for 40 years. I have known Pedro a long time and he is usually always their whenever I frequent the restaurant. Everything was always great, so I don't understand the change. I told Jesus that his was literally the 5th time that I have come in and ordered Fish on Friday and they were out. The POS system will clearly show the fish sales on Friday. I have a feeling that they really do have fish, the staff just doesn't want to make it. I would advise the management to just look at the fish sales on Friday the last few months, then check the inventory to see what is really happening. Well, I believed management when they left the last response. I guess, it just wasn't true. I will not be going back. Just OK. This place used to be a decent restaurant. I live close by and would go at least once a week. Within the last few months, this place went down hill. They are always out of everything. They used to have staff that really cared. With the new staff, when they are out of fish, tea, baked potatoes, they will say they are "just out." I have literally been coming here for the last 10 years and it's never been bad, but lately, you can tell that the restaurant has lost its pride. I gave it 4 weeks. Literally. I have come at least 1 time per week the last month and every time, they are out of what I want. The new staff just says, "Sorry, we're out." No more loyalty to regular customers. It's actually kind of sad. I really used to like this restaurant. I just don't know what happened.
I bought the sliced brisket and it was dry tuff to.chew even with bbq sauce, and no smoke on it. I also bought beef.ribs. they had a.smoke ring, but again tasteless and dry. Did I get day old bbq? Fir sides I had the fried okra. They made it fresh. It was hot, tasty and.well made. Coleslaw was my second side it was very watery. The sauce was also like eating cardboard. There were multiple sauces big balls orginal it had a little kick. Hot and spicy o did not try, and Caroline style was good but not outstanding. It says all sauces are made in house not impressed. The service was good, staff friendly. They have daily specials. It has been a while since I have been here, and it is nothing like the beautiful bbq of days gone by. What happened? Skip this place if your in the hospital district. The price is comparable to other bbq places, but go where there is good bbq. Skip the cardboard. Sorry Big Al, get back to basics.
Food was horrible! The brisket was full of fat and gristle and served cold. Vegetables was wilted and had been sitting around for days. Ugh, just as waste of $50 for 2 people!
I ordered my food for pick up and when I got my food I sat in my car to take a bite and I’ve never seen brisket that dry in my life. Just dry and thin and the turkey was so bland no flavor whatsoever took two bites and couldn’t finish anything else. So disappointing but that is not what I want when I’m craving bbq.
That was the worst dinner I had in a long time. Food was not fresh , Mac and cheese was almost inedible and the price was way too high for the food we received . We wanted to ask for ice water to save some money , but the soda machine was broken . They offer a bottled water at a cost. The ice cream machine looked disgusting : we quickly try to eat our food ( we didn’t finish it) and left as soon as we could .
UPDATE: I have just spent the last 10 minutes in a Home Depot bathroom just down the street, vomiting undercooked catfish. I for one when he never be visiting this place again and steering anyone and everyone I possibly get away from this place. I do not understand the four star rating for this place. I just ate here today for the very first time and the best thing I can say about it is that it is horrid and completely unedible. I had the catfish plate, which was today's special for $11 and to say the least, it was very disappointing because I ended up spending $11 and some change for about 2 oz of baked beans because that was the only thing could be eaten. When the basket was brought out to me with the fish, french fries and hush puppies it looked pretty good. When I bit into the first piece of fish, I couldn't immediately tell that the fish itself was undercooked by a lot and the inside batter wasn't even fully cooked however, the batter on the outside was overcooked which is a huge indication that they have their fryer way too hot. The hush puppies work overcooked and like eating rocks and the french fries, also overcooked and absolutely no seasoning on them. Which you expect some sort of seasoning or even salt at a self-proclaimed BBQ Smokehouse.
The girl at checkout was really rude in Spanish bc she thought I didn't understand that she didn't want to give me their promotional item because she changed her mind apparently. The food is adequate, but the service sucked. Do NOT recommend. Try Heim, easy friendlier and better service.
I spent $30 on a beef rib every little meat on it. A 1/4 lb of brisket and 2 micro mini sides. I had to ask for silverware and no butter. The portion size killed it. I dont mind paying but HATE leaving hungry
Very very disappointing. We ordered a veggie plate, we never got the potato. Came with only two sides. We ordered the meat lovers plate, we only got brisket and the roll was hard and old tasting. Ordered sheet cake for my bfs birthday cake, only got the banana pudding. This was all in all the most disappointing.
The food was cold and old. We went about 5:30 pm and all the food looked like it had been out since 12. I got potato salad and it was warm I was afraid to even finish my food because I did not want food poisoning. Some of the sides were empty. The workers spoke Spanish to us and we didn’t even speak Spanish. I found that odd. Not to mention we spent 60 dollars for food that we didn’t even eat. We will definitely not be back.
