I’ve been coming here for years and they are consistently delicious, fast, and never skimp on the salsa or meat. great lunch spot for a quick burrito.

Update; I'm consistently wowed so hats off once again! I thought Taco Bell was good but then I tried Happy Burrito. This place is soooo DELISH!!!! My boo thang was licking his chops and I was eating every little bit even though I'm on a "diet" (whatever I need to live a little) . This burito made me happy as a clam!

One of my favorite food places in Downtown Oakland. The baby burrito is a great deal - low price & a lot of food. Sweet ladies working the counter. Fast service even even very busy (weekday lunch hour - office people adore this place).

I'm here about once a week getting 5+ burritos for everyone in my office. Each of the burritos I order is different, some with special requests, and each time they come out perfect. Never a mistake! Reasonable prices, good flavor, and portions that aren't so big that you get sent into a food coma for the rest of the afternoon. The hot sauce is awesome!

This is the best Mexican food I've ever had! I'm not saying that other places aren't good there are a lot of good places out there but nothing like Happy Burrito for me!! Fresh food, salsa that gets better the next day, and you can't go wrong with anything pinning the menu!! Visit them soon!

Yeah probably my most favorite restaurant in the bay. They were closed for a while and I went by a couple times to see if they were open lol. Very much addicted to their food. I've been coming here for over 20 years My coworker is the reason I found out about them. And I still get the same thing that he would ordered. A super chicken burrito, not a happy burrito, with shredded chicken, refried beans, and chips. It's the only place I buy chicken burritos, nowhere else. The season of their chicken goes really well with the cheese, the avocados sauce, the beans and their flour tortillas.

So my walking friend suggested we walk to Happy Burito & get some food. It was a good walk from our neighborhood & why not? She kept saying “The chicken burrito is bomb.” So I order a carnitas burrito & then I see the tostadas; $4.50 for a plain with meat of your choice. I decided to pick some up for my kids at home and I got 2 chicken & a beef tostada. Honey; let me tell you- I didn’t get 25 feet from the place! I had to sit down and take a bite of that chicken tostada! It started as a taste, but was GONE in a matter of minutes. I have since been back and have ordered a bunch for me, the kids & my next door neighbor! It’s usually 4 ladies (the tias & abuelas) and they don’t play: they take your order, take your card, and a few minutes later- your order is up. You’re on your way with your pink plastic bag of happiness. If you’re expecting fancy, please; just good food at a good price. It’s strictly to go, parking is kinda crazy but it’s worth it. I tried the Al pastor & it was good. But for me, it’s all about the chicken tostada. They open at 9 AM; they close at 5:45. And yes: their hot sauce is that good.

Very good burrito at a average price. I ordered the happy burrito with everything including black beans, sour cream and grilled chicken 🐔 😋 👌. It was more filling than a burrito bowl from chipotle for about the same price $10.73. The only room for improvement that I can suggest is making an app so that people can order quicker

Very school vibes with them and their food. I highly recommend if you want an affordable meal in downtown Oakland

Today was a Happy Burrito with carne asada. Very good burrito. I am a refried beans afficiando so I really dig their burritos. "While it's cheap, everything here is just bland. You get what you pay for." This was my review 5 years ago, and sadly, it holds true today when I ordered nachos. The cheese and beans were melted on top of the chips, which made them soggy. One improvement they made since the last time I went is that they take card now.

I’ve been coming here for over 25yrs and it’s always been great. Today I found a stand of hair in my hot sauce which grossed me out. The ladies that work there are very nice but I think it’s time they start back to wearing hair nets or something on their heads to keep those loose strands of hair out of the food. The ladies that make the food used to wear them but as of late they do not.

I really wanted to keep supporting them, but every time I go back the quality drops. I order meat and get 90% rice and beans. And the tortillas? Not even as good as before. It’s disappointing because it used to be so good.

After reading the reviews describing the poor customer service and the hair in food, I still considered eventually giving this place a chance. I was walking my dogs past the restaurant and my dog had an accident in the tree outside the restaurant. The lady with the apron, short hair, and glasses started yelling in spanish to her coworkers and they all approached me as if I was a criminal. She yelled at me very rudely to pick up after my dog. Ultimately, even though the streets of Oakland are covered in human and animal feces, I knew it was my responsibility however unfortunately in this off chance I didn't have a bag. I asked her for a piece of paper , not a bag, maybe a napkin that costs less than 1 cent to pick up my dogs poop that I would then walk to an outdoor trashcan. The woman yells so rudely and sarcastically that I should have a bag to pick up after my dogs. Given the fact that this struggling restaurant has a history of poor reviews and reviews about the customer service I told her this is why. She then gave me a crumpled up piece of plastic after her and the other coworkers criminalized me for my dogs accident that wasn't even near the stores property. Owner , if you want to continue your business please have your staff stop harassing innocent bystanders or at least speak to them kindly. Even after I complied she was still rude and sarcastic and THATS why I am writing the review and will never give you all service. Good day!

it was pretty good a few years back, but it may be under new ownership now. It's take out only. No menu is on the window, so you look at an angle at the dine in menu inside. A grumpy old woman stands behind a table in the doorway and takes orders. She wouldn't give me change for the meter so that I could wait for my order. You won't change a $1 to quarters so I don't have to worry about the meter maid? really? screw this place!
