Very reasonably priced, creative vegetarian sushi. Friendly service too! Will definitely be back.
This is, hands down, one of the best sushi places I have ever been to regarding quality of food. If you're more concerned with atmosphere, it might not be for you, but if you're looking for incredibly good sushi, I can't recommend it enough.
I just had a lite dinner here.the calamari tentacles were delicious and the meso soup 🍜 was good too. I came here because it was 10 minutes from my apartment. I say the food was good at this place. The service was very friendly and the overall ambiance of the place was great. I give them 5 stars ⭐️ . I may come back here again sometime
Good sushi for the price point. Come here if you want a casual neighborhood sushi joint where the owners and staff know locals. Food is good value. Service could be faster but again, casual dining with friendly owners. Atmosphere is fine for a group of good friends not trying to impress each other. It's not a fanciful production, but it's perfect for a relaxed meal.
This is my cult favorite sushi spot in San Francisco. Do you want to support a small business? Feel like mom n pop restaurants are dead? COME TO HOT ZUSHI, it's cozy, and the green tea is perfection. Connie and her husband are a kind, efficient, duo that spin up fresh sushi every time. We come to Hot Zushi monthly, take our friends here, and visitors. If there is a wait, since there's only a dozen tables - promise it's worth waiting for, just grab a drink across the street at the Woods. We haven't tried anything that wasn't great but here are our favorites we rotate: - House salad is a MUST - Edamame - Miso - cucumber salad - wakame (seaweed) - Hamachi lime Jalapeno tuna - big team -Big poppa - chronic - smashing pumpkins - tiger - any sashima
Amazing, very good date night vibes, great quality eats, affordable pricing, and staff is friendly and attentive. Right across the street from an unnecessarily expensive sushi spot with rude uninterested staff.
Awesome place for cheap, but high quality sushi! They have good small plates, and a nice selection of sushi. Lots of toro! This isn't fancy, but it's great sushi at a VERY reasonable cost
I stumbled across Hot Zushi by accident when several sushi spots close to me in downtown were either closed due to Veteran’s day holiday or fully booked for the evening. However I am so glad to have had the opportunity to try them out. Their sushi was great. Service was great. Cozy atmosphere. Reasonable prices. I was lovin every minute. Highly recommend.
Beautiful fresh sashimi and very thick cuts of fish. I loved the ‘hot stuff’ roll we got as well and the ramen was pretty good. Ramen was not as thick as other tonkotsu I’m used to but I liked it. Photo only of sashimi chefs selection 24 pieces, we ate everything else as soon as it came out.
Great Experience! We came very late, unfortunately only 15 minutes before closing, however we still got served some amazing food. The waiters were very kind and polite. Great food and many options for vegetarians.✨❤️
Amazing people and consistently fresh and delicious! Many times, sake (salmon) can be chewy or restaurants don’t slice it well but at Hot Zushi the salmon melts in your mouth every time. They have just the right amount of rice and a hearty portion of fillings! The prices are on point for the quality and service. I miss being able to dine in but during COVID, the takeout experience has been just as top notch! They also have a great selection of vegetarian rolls and non-seafood appetizers and yum yums!

One of my favorite restaurants in Lower Haight! You have to try it if you haven't. Reasonably priced, great quality, and delicious. We never have to wait long to be served. Also they have great happy hour deals on the weekdays!
The salmon nigiri is some of the best in the city and you know what, they know it too. As they serve it they tell you not to add soy sauce, presumably because it’s already been perfected. I wish I lived closer.
Love this place. Good value for the price, and the smashing pumpkins role is in of my all time favorites. Come here at least once a month!
Delicious sushi, great complementary tea, and a calm/serene ambiance. They are passionate about their roll offerings here, with lots of fun options to try. On our visit we inquired which ones were popular, and the owner replied "They all are" and we saw why after trying a couple of them. Their nigiri offerings are very tasty and decently proportioned as well.
My family I I got to visit this cute hidden spot today on our visit to Sf, and we loved it. It’s a small intimate setting with limited seating but we were able to come and grab a table upon arrival. The staff is so kind and delighted to serve their tasty food to the customers. The pricing was amazing as someone coming from Monterey where the lower price of sushi ranges from 11-15 for basic rolls. The specials were great and we got there just before they ended..which gave us a chance to try many more things at an extremely affordable rate. The flavors were amazing and a refreshing new take on rolls I have been keen on for sometime! I wish I could keep this place to myself but it just so good I want to give props to the business. This is a new staple for me and I can’t wait to come back! 10/10
Don’t be fooled by the name of the restaurant and the presentation of the food. The food is actually will really good!
One of my favorite low key spots. Been here several times since about 2018 and it has always been spot on. Always amazing fresh sushi. Never once have I felt like they took a short cut. Competes with anything around tbh.

We are obsessed with Hot Zushi and love Connie! It’s our favorite sushi spot in the city and we’ve come here for years. It feels homey and the rolls are so unique and fresh! Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough :)

Hmmm yes this place is affordable, but it shows in the quality of the fish and the craft. Overall a pretty mediocre sushi place that’s not worth going out of your way to try. We ordered a vegetable appetizer kale & mushroom, 4 nigiris (hamachi toro, blue fin toro, sake toro, and scallops), the Kale sake roll and the chronic roll. Everything was pretty average. The fish was fresh, yes, but also not that high quality. A lot of cuts of meat tasted pretty blind. The scallops would have been great but there was too much wasabi. The rolls were okay - they fell apart when I picked them up… I’ve had much better rolls at other places at similar price points. Service was okay. We Waite for an hour for our rolls to come out - could have been a busy night for them. Won’t return for sure; there are way too many good sushi places in SF even at this price point.

A longer wait or subpar service can sometimes be OK, but dealing with both as we did tonight was very disappointing. We ordered one appetizer and two rolls that took nearly an hour to arrive, even though there were just two other tables seated alongside us. About 40 minutes in, we asked for an ETA. The server snapped “It’s coming, they’re waiting too”, pointing to one of the other tables. I was pretty put off by this, especially given the manner in which checked in and how long we had waited. The food, for what it is worth, was pretty tasty. But based on the experience we had overall, I won’t be going back.
