Bar Jabroni offers an intimate, discreet atmosphere—perfect for long conversations or even a first date. The lighting is soft yet reflective, creating a warm glow that makes the space feel effortlessly inviting. They serve small, thoughtful bites paired with a curated selection of international wines, each label chosen with care. The short but refined menu is ideal for sharing, making it a cozy spot for a warm, lingering afternoon as the cold winter settles over the city. ❤️
We’d been hearing about Bar Jabroni forever but finally snagged a res and WOW. Every single thing we ate was unreal. We kicked it off with the beef tartare (Szechuan peppercorn, kumquat, like, yes??), then tore through the house focaccia with whole milk ricotta. That bread was gone in seconds. The romanesco cauliflower was such a surprise hit - charred, nutty, saucy, crunchy - all of it. For mains, we got the strozzapreti with pork sugo (so rich and cozy) and the black cod pil pil, which was buttery, flaky perfection with these crispy potatoes I still dream about. The wine? A+++ no notes. Perfect pairings, super interesting list. We wanted to try everything. Vibe is laid back but cool, like a wine bar and a bistro had a hot, fun baby. Honestly the whole thing was a 10. We’re already planning to go back and order everything we didn’t get to this time.
Ok so the food was to die for. The wine was tremendous. I had a glass that was recommend with each plate, yea I had a few glasses. The recommendations were spot on! The Shrimp Louie, was so good I almost ordered an extra to take home. I tasted two pasta dishes that were out of this world.
Incredible food, good service! Best steak I’ve maybe ever had and the way gave us a free round of oysters :)
I discovered Bar Jabroni through SF’s Best Restaurants list, and let me tell you, it absolutely lives up to the hype—and then some. Walking in with sky-high expectations, I was floored by how this spot managed to exceed them. The food here is exceptional, and honestly, I have zero criticisms about the dishes themselves. If I had to nitpick, the only downside would be that there’s just one restroom, which can lead to a bit of a wait when the restaurant is packed (and it often is). We made our reservation a month in advance for a 5:30 PM dinner on a Saturday, and it was worth every bit of planning. For the two of us, we indulged in the following dishes: 1. Beef Tartare, Kuri Squash Mayo, Pickled Bartlett Pear, Toasted Hazelnut, and Shiso Oil (4.5/5) This dish was artfully composed, with the tartare perfectly complemented by the sweet and tangy pickled pear and nutty hazelnuts. A near-perfect starter. 2. Fried Japanese Sweet Potatoes, Cured Egg Yolk, Crème Fraîche - Caviar, and Miso Brown Butter (5/5) The standout of the night. The sweet potatoes, glazed to perfection and dipped in a luscious mix of cured egg yolk and miso brown butter, were divine. Every bite was a revelation, and I would order this again in a heartbeat. 3. Grilled Romanesco Cauliflower, Harissa, House Yogurt, Charred Dates, and Carrot Vinaigrette (5/5) Another must-try. The cauliflower was grilled to perfection, and the combination of harissa and charred dates brought an explosion of flavors. I couldn’t stop eating this dish. 4. Spring Onion and Date Pancake, Golden Sesame, Whipped Feta (4/5) This pancake was a creative take on savory-sweet, with the whipped feta adding a creamy richness. It was delicious but not as mind-blowing as the other dishes. 5. Gnudi, Mushroom Duxelles, Broccolini, Butternut Squash, Taleggio Fonduta, Pickled Mustard, and Chive Oil (4/5) Rich, hearty, and perfectly balanced. The gnudi was pillowy soft, and the flavors of the mushroom and taleggio fonduta made for a comforting dish. 6. Kuri Squash Basque Cheesecake, Winter Citrus, Brown Sugar Crumble (4/5) A delightful end to the meal. The cheesecake was creamy and flavorful, with the winter citrus adding a refreshing brightness to the rich dessert. If I weren’t so full, I would’ve ordered an encore of the Fried Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Grilled Romanesco Cauliflower—they were just that good. Bar Jabroni isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. The thoughtful, creative dishes and exceptional flavors will stay with you long after your visit. Just make your reservation early, as this spot is in high demand—and for good reason.
Great, tight sharing menu with a ridiculous wine list (close to retail prices). Not the most comfortable/accessible seating, but service and quality make up for it.
My partner and I came here this past Wednesday. We were greeted kindly and got seated promptly. We ordered the crudo, focaccia, duck liver mousse, the duck pappardelle with chanterelle mushrooms, and black sesame donut. The food was fantastic. Wish there were more beer options but it is a wine focused kinda place.
great flavors. amazing crudo, papardelle, oysters - would definitely go again. i’d skip the scallion pancake & focaccia, doesn’t stand out.
Whoa I was surprised that the food was great. I was thinking just a wine bar with a few bar bites.

Great shareable format that allows you try a few different dishes. Everything we've had has been delicious. Long and intricate wine list they do a good job of helping you navigate.
Wow, what excellent food. I had a braised lamb shank. The flavors were rich and smooth. "Too salty" is a common problem with dishes like this, but it was not a problem at Bar Jabroni. Our table enjoyed several of the appetizers and entrees, and everything was delicious. We shared a Pavolva dessert, and the sweetness of the meringue was nicely balanced by the tartness of the passionfruit and the umame of the sesame. We spent about $70 per person, including wine.
I went and was really amazed at the overall experience. Beef tartar and shrimp dishes were some of the best ive ever had. Kind and friendly staff / service. I will be back.
We popped randomly and grabbed beef & fish tacos. The fish taco was excellent, the beef taco was INCREDIBLE. The beef was sublime, some seriously melt-in-the-mouth succulent gourmet deliciousness. I've eaten a lot of tacos, and that was one of the finest I've ever had. No idea what the rest of the menu is like but if it's anything like the tacos, it's made of win. Delicious.

The food was delicious and the wine was good! Had the chicory salad, the beef tartare, the leek and Brussels risotto. Oysters were weirdly warm served on a bed of salt instead of ice, which was honestly the only off putting part of the dining experience. Also added the shrimp to the risotto which maybe would skip next time.
What a great small spot in Lower Haight! Really solid shareable sized food, incredibly attentive and friendly service (thanks John!) and a lively vibe. Absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a spot to hang with some friends, catch up over drinks and food. Can’t go wrong. Plus the bathroom decor is the best in the city, the SF MoMa of bathroom artwork.
cute wine bar and restaurant in haight! solid wine selection but food was a hit or miss (and pricy). overall would come back for the good vibes and try other dishes. shrimp louie: enjoyed this and would recommend. loved the diffeeent flavors and textures mushroom ragu pappardelle: pasta perfectly al dente but mushroom ragu was too salty.
Cool little spot w nice wine selection and , the dishes were more on the smaller side, the gnocco, is indeed what it says, one large gnocco it was very good. My least favorite was the black cod.

Service, atmosphere/vibe, and wine selection are top notch and felt like a cozy spot to hang with friends. The decor and music feels warm and well styled. But the food was disappointing for the price to be honest - the cod was not really seasoned and slimy, it was randomly paired with Cajun spiced fingerling potatoes that didn't feel cohesive and sadly our focaccia came out burnt and texture felt like it was stale and reheated. The gnocco and Bolognese was the best thing we had but not something I'd go back for. The Shrimp Louie was a tasty starter. I would come back for the wine bar aspect and left feeling bummed about the dishes given the prices and the casual vibe - don't get me wrong, I love paying for fine dining, but this is not that and I think the hype and other reviews made me have way too high of expectations for the food.

Their service is friendly and attentive. The same front of house staff has worked there for a while which is always a good sign. I visited for the second time last night and the food was very good, we had the focaccia, beef tartare, chicken, black cod and both the cheesecake and cobbler for desert. There was a small miscommunication and we had intended to order 2 chicken dinners but only received one to share. The portion was large enough to share and they offered to make a second one but our reservation was the last seating and we elected to share instead. Other than that the food was delicious but the cobbler was a bit cold in the middle and the portion of vegetables with the chicken could have been more substantial for the price. I think the menu has gotten smaller and the prices higher since the first time I dined here which would deter me from returning again soon. We also noted that we were celebrating a graduation last night and we were slightly disappointed it wasn’t acknowledged, but only since it was a prompt when making a reservation online. Not a deal breaker.

Very friendly service with a warm atmosphere. We ordered all the appetizers, plus the black cod and pork. The food was… not bad, but I'm surprised by how many people rave over it. Most of the dishes were extremely salty, and the portions are small considering the prices. The wine selection was great, but there could have been more options for beer. It was worth trying nonetheless!
Wine was great and snacks were tasty, but unfortunately left with a bad taste in my mouth after our server tried to hurry us out of the bar once she realized we weren’t going to order entrees. We had a 5:30PM reservation and by 6PM had told us twice to order food because she needed the table back at 7 (despite the fact that open table says you have the table for 2 hours) and was clearing dishes and glasses —we all ordered drinks— away in a very pointed manner. I understand that servers make most of their money from tips but this felt like terrible hospitality and we rushed to leave because we felt like we were being a bother.
