We love dumplings eat before many places Nan Xiang the best! My mom had the fried pork chop soup,my hubby got the shredded beef. I took a sip from the beef soup it was very rich and flavorful! A bit spicy but it was just perfect for my taste. My son and me,we shared many dumplings after we wasn’t able to order anything else.Definitely come back and try more food from the menu! Love the tea and the shredded ginger. Price very affordable. Food arrived fast and fresh!
Absolutely loved this place. The soup dumplings were amazing; perfectly structured, incredibly juicy, and clearly made with care. Every bite was flavorful without falling apart. I also tried the udon, which I felt could’ve been a bit more flavorful, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. The service was excellent; the waiters were attentive and welcoming. We were offered a warm herbal tea that tasted like it was infused with rose. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Overall, a great experience and a place I’d definitely return to!
I’ve been to this restaurant for Soup Dumplings many times, and it’s always a great experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served fast. It’s one of those places you just keep coming back to because you know it’s going to be good every single time. Today’s visit was no different .Great atmosphere, great service, and overall exactly what I expect from this spot. The staff, including Maggie who took care of our table, were friendly and welcoming, which made the meal even nicer. Highly recommend starting with the peanut butter pork dumplings they’re unique and incredibly good. The new spicy beef is packed with flavor, and the truffle soup dumplings are a must-try if you want something rich and special.
This is one of the well-known dumpling chain restaurants in New York City, and we visited the Flushing location. There was no line when we arrived, so we were seated right away. However, the place was almost packed. It was late in the afternoon — not quite lunch or dinner — but we were craving dumplings and decided to give it a try. They served complimentary hot tea, which was perfect on a chilly day. It tasted wonderful, and the staff happily refilled it throughout our meal. We ordered two types of dumplings: one green-tinted variety (likely pork with leek or herbs) and a set of chicken soup dumplings. The pork dumplings were outstanding — flavorful and aromatic — while the chicken ones were milder in taste. The service was attentive; they brought out the dumplings in batches so each set stayed piping hot. The soup dumplings in particular were excellent — steamy, juicy, and comforting. They also had chili oil on the table, which added a perfect kick. Overall, this place is a great spot for dumpling lovers — flavorful food, warm service, and a cozy vibe. Highly recommended if you’re in the Flushing area.
The soup dumplings here have been consistently delicious every single time. We had the signature ones and the vegetable ones, but I’ve had others as well like the truffle one. The broth is so good, no matter which you try, but the signature one never fails.
Absolutely phenomenal! Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao never disappoints — the soup dumplings are perfection: delicate skin, rich broth, and flavorful filling that tastes authentic and fresh every time. The restaurant is clean, well-run, and always buzzing with energy, yet service stays quick and friendly. The menu has so many great options beyond dumplings too — the scallion pancakes, noodles, and crab soup buns are all must-tries. You can tell they use quality ingredients and real craftsmanship in every dish. If you’re in Flushing and want true Shanghai-style dumplings, this is the place. Worth every minute of the wait!
Everything’s very tasty and authentic. I highly recommend the peanut sauce + chili oil dumplings. It’s super good.
This is one of the most authentic XLB this has a list of accolades from the dumplings to the side dishes and shout out for the pan fried dumplings and reasonable prices truly a really good choice for the XLB and many wonderful Shanghainese Noodles and peanut dumplings. We love the design, service and food.
Price is about the prices are typical to other dumplings, but the flavor for the soup dumplings were with a lot of soup, and very tasty. They're good because they have less ginger which is my preference. If you like less ginger in your dumplings, then I would go here versus Din Tai Fung...the global chain dumpling place. The boiled dumplings and the wrapper was very tasty and felt homemade. Good luck looking for parking on the street or finding even a parking lot to park your car. The best thing to do is walk here take the public transportation, trains, or buses. or if you're coming here for pick up, that would be easy as well. There are two levels at the bathrooms are on the second level. The wrappers of the dumplings tasted very good and seemed to be homemade.
Entering this place is always a bit hectic. They seat A LOT of people a day, so it’s a little like the airport. But they really do have some of the best soup dumplings in all of nyc. And surprisingly good turnip cakes! Definitely a place to stop if you’re doing a little food exploring in the neighborhood.
My friend’s mom loves this place! Clean, comfortable, and friendly service. The rice ball tasted just like back home, and the pickled fish noodle soup was a big hit,the fish was silky and the noodles bouncy. The soup dumplings were tasty though a bit thick, but the sticky rice shumai was soft and chewy, so good! The celery and tofu dish would be even better if the tofu were cut smaller.
Delicious Dumplings and noodles with quick service. Menu is extensive and omni. Since I have a vegetarian diet, my family ordered all vegetarian dishes . High recommend the stir fried rice cakes, spongey tofu with mushroom and bamboo shoots, noodle soup, and of course, soup dumplings, and steamed dumpling. If you like durian, the durian puff is aromatic as a dessert.
There's nothing better than a great soup dumpling! The question is which one was better pork or chicken? I think the pork narrowly won but it was a close race! This place is no joke! Service was on point. Our server showed us how to properly eat and we enjoyed ourselves. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
I would eat here once per week if it was in my neighborhood. Prices and value and service are all exceptional, as is the food. The space is quite inviting and has a warm comfortable and clean feel. The most bizarre yet hilarious thing is the background music was on a ~30 second loop, but it was very peaceful and quiet so didn’t much matter. The service was so friendly and prompt despite the place being slammed on a Saturday afternoon. The staff were running about and quickly tending to everyone at such a pace that I myself could not sustain. Despite this they were extremely friendly and helpful. They not only brought us the to-go containers, but expertly packed them up, which can be tricky with some soups. The food… Wonton soup: incredible! The broth was light and refreshing, very authentic. The wontons were so tender and savory. The best part? It was like $9 or something. It could have been a full meal. Soup Dumplings: incredible! We had 2 orders. The pork and crab meat, and the mixed. They are again savory and tender, but satisfyingly subtle and packed with a yummy broth. We also had the woodear mushrooms and chicken soup, which were equally incredible! We couldn’t even finish these because the portion sizes of the wonton soup and dumplings were so large. I dream of this.
Favorite place to visit to soup dumplings. All the food there is delicious and very affordable. We always have the soup dumplings because they are the best. Other meals such as the wood ear mushroom salad, the spicy pig ears or the scallion pancakes are also a must try. Try to make e reservation upfront to avoid waiting.
Am currently enjoying an order of pork and vegetable wontons in spicy peanut sauce!!! These little treasures are so delicious, we’ve ordered a 2nd bowl. And the dumplings? Omg, tender, flavorful, with a delicate hint of spice. Wood ear mushrooms were firm textured, not mushy or gooey. This meal was truly one of the best ever.
Soup dumplings - gets very busy at lunch, Shanghainese specialty, and they have a variety of styles. Their crab and pork had just a little crab, disappointed at that, but still a solid amount of soup. Soy milk and a youtiao (fried cruller) were good, and the wine chicken was excellent. Melon green tea was also a nice refreshing touch. They didn't rush us out even with the line of people, so good service from that perspective, and refilled tea on a timely basis. Bathrooms crowded, though, and the restaurant seating is second level, so take the stairs or go around the outside of the mall to see if they have an elevator at the hotel or similar to get to the second floor entry if you are handicapped.
Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings in Flushing Queens is a literaly corner stone of China Town. Located on. The price for each dish is surprisingly reasonable given the popularity, location and reputation. On your next stop to China Town NYC give this spot a try. We received delicious chicken with skin attracted and crunchy kelp silk. Then arrived amazing wonton soup and boiled fish noodle soup. We also got pumpkin cakes filled with red bean and green dumplings filled with pork. My favorite had to be the boiled fish noodle soup, the noodles and broth were extraordinary! The dumplings and wonton soup left something more to desire and the chicken was a bit dry. The pumpkin cakes were very pleasant and the kelp silk was average. Overall, we had some good dishes and one great dish for an incredible price! I would recommend this restaurant to any tourist. Next time, we will get the soup dumplings.
Stopped by for a quick breakfast around 9:30am, got seated immediately for a table of 1. Ambiance is relaxed but bustling with large groups of Chinese families and couples. Ordered the stir fried bean curd with Chinese celery as a starter. Also ordered the 三鲜南翔小笼包 (pork and shrimp) XLB. Came with a side of thinly sliced ginger, soy and vinegar 陈醋 which is perfect ots for dipping. The XLB is pillowy soft and 入口即化, flavor profile is perfectly balanced with savory and sweet notes. Definitely coming back next time with more people. Service is attentive and fast, total came out to be ~$28! Obvs not at the level of Din Tai Fung but definitely lives up to its reputation as a local favorite.
Solid xiao long bao - however, by far not the best i had even in US. The dough is a bit too thick and the size is a bit too big. The flavor is good though. Can’t recommend the truffle one - truffle and XLB just doesn’t match. Their pan fried baos are alright. Nothing i want come back for. 5 stars for late night opening hours though!
An iconic dumpling restaurant that is known for their soup dumplings! Not only can you order traditional pork soup dumplings, but also truffle & pork soup dumplings, chicken soup dumplings, abalone & pork soup dumplings, three treasures soup dumplings, and many more! Just note that it may get busy at times and you will need to join a waitlist. In addition to their steamed soup dumplings, they offer appetizers, noodle soups, and stir-fried noodles & rice cakes. Several of their signature dishes that I also recommend are Beef Tripe in Spicy Sauce, Four Happiness Sponge Tofu, and Shanghai Stir-Fried Udon. If you want more beef and bok choy, then go for the Beef Stir-Fried Udon instead of the Shanghai Stir-Fried Udon. Other than that, enjoy!
lone line but highly turnover so not much wait time then we realized why? When we were still ordering our dishes and one of our friends changed her mind wanted something else but the waitress said sorry no can't change, I already sent in the dish and kitchen is making it now.... but we are still ordering!!! I guess they tried to save time but this is going to be problem for some customers if changes are not allowed? Food is fine but the best dish is the pan fried noodle with seafood on top! Soup Dumpling is just OK, too bad we had people never have soup dumplings before to try, I guess that's their first and last time.
While the food here is still pretty good overall, there have been some noticeable changes since my last visit. The soup dumpling skins are now noticeably thicker. More puzzling, the Shanghai noodle dish now uses udon noodles instead of the traditional Shanghai-style noodles, which alters the dish's character. Unfortunately, the provided vinegar had no sour flavor at all, and the dining atmosphere is quite noisy. The staff service was acceptable. Given these issues, it feels like there may have been a change in the kitchen.
We love the soup dumplings but had a bad experience with the waitress b c we only ordered the soup dumplings after seeing it on social media post. I would still order the traditional or the crab meat but should try the assorted just to see if you will enjoy it. Thanks for reaching out, Mary. I don't wish to get anyone in trouble, but I do think further training is needed to ensure staff don't discriminate based on a customer's spending. Every customer should feel valued regardless of whether they spend $10 or $100. I appreciate you looking into this!
Came here for dinner and honestly didn’t have a good experience. The chicken soup had a strong, unpleasant smell as soon as it hit the table, and the taste wasn’t any better. The soup dumplings look nice in photos, but the filling had almost no flavor and the chicken tasted old. We ordered the shrimp and chicken dumplings too, but you could barely taste either one. The cold tofu and mushroom salad was fine, and the fried beef dumpling was okay, but nothing stood out. Overall, I don’t understand the hype. The food lacked flavor, and this is probably my last visit. There are plenty of better spots for dumplings.
I want to share my experience at Nan Xiang Dumplings, which was a mix of highs and lows. First, the food itself was amazing. everything we ordered was delicious. I came here with two friends, and we were served by Yonhuan, a male staff who was extremely patient, polite, and took the time to explain every detail of the food. His service was professional and well mannered, truly deserving of praise. However, our experience took a turn after we finished eating. When we wanted to split the bill, a female staff named Coco Lie and a male cashier acted extremely rude. They handled our used plates aggressively, slamming them in front of us, refused to split the bill, and even pressured us to give a tip despite their unprofessional behavior. This was shocking, especially as we were paying customers like everyone else. I raised the issue with the cashier Jennifer, who apologized sincerely on behalf of the rude staff and offered a complimentary soya or soda as an apology, which I declined. I want to make it clear that Yonhuan and Jennifer deserve recognition for their professionalism and good service. they should be in roles where their efforts are appreciated. Unfortunately, the conduct of Coco Lie and the rude male cashier was completely unacceptable and does not reflect the standard any customer should expect. While the food is excellent, I hope management addresses the behavior of certain staff, so future guests can have a consistently good experience.
