Best pizza in Albany ny and trust I have tried them all pizza is always fresh and taste the same from the very first time I have had it until today been eatting this pizza for yrs keep up the good work
Very good pizza joint that's been there as long as the arena has been open (early 90s). I had the pepperoni - classic NY pizza taste.
Amazing food!! Delivery service was prompt! Wings and pizza were the best ever. Will definitely order from here again!!
Great service, pizza was great. It took me back to where I came from. I recommend it and will come back.
Really good pizza. I walked in because I was hungry and needed to grab a quick snack. Ended up loving the Pizza.
I love this pizzeria. Any time I'm in the area I stop in for a a white w/tomato and a slice of mushroom. Truly delicious!
Great pizza around down town Albany. A pre-game hang out to grab a quality quick bite before any game. Large pizza slices.
Best New York style Pizza, always fresh, not like other places where the pizza sits around all day,Chuck is the man
Delicious pizza that's reasonably priced. If you're in a hurt and you have a large order, you can call ahead and they'll set it aside for you.
Great food a bit pricey but once you bite into a slice or stuff your mug with a calzone you'll see it's worth every penny.
I've been a customer for over ten years and never once experienced any disappointment. Award winning quality of pizza and customer service.
The best NY style pizza, by far, I have had in a very long time. My favorite place in capital region for pizza.
Never had a bad slice here. The sausage and peppers sun is delicious, too.
Great guys and great food. Drove down from Syracuse and it was legitimately worth it. The guys who worked there then helped us figure out where to and where not to go in the city. BBQ pizza was delicious. 10/10
This place has the best pizza in all of Albany. You know it's a great slice of pizza when you pick it up and the tip flaps over. When the sauce is saucey and the cheese is abundant and melted. Mm.
Ate here for the first time during the indoor races. Made it a point to not eat before we came back to the TU Center just so we could eat here again. Huge slices served fresh and hot. Can't wait to come back again.
Great pizza! Kind staff and super quick service!! I highly recommend!!!
Chicken, Bacon Ranch pizza was very good! Having lived in NYC for most of my adult life I’d say this is close enough to a NYC slice for me.
There was a specialty pizza on the menu called the Soul Food pizza. I ordered it but they did not have the ingredients available. The staff told me when I could come back for it, and I did. Best pizza ever. And what freaking awesome people they have working there. :)
Awesome freaking pizza!!! Not ordering anywhere else from now on!!!! Omg!!! The dough, the sauce, the cheese all fall together so well. Your pizza dough is amazingly excellently good!!! Omg!! I ordered pizza and mozzarella sticks and it was delicious!! This is what pizza is, right here at this spot!!! Thank you and I appreciate good pizza and your awesome service. Bellissimo!!!
Their lemon pepper wings are yummy and so is their garlic knots!! Cant find them made like that at any of the surrounding pizza places...just wish they sold fried dough or zeppole (if that's how it's spelled lol)
Great little spot for pizza by the slice! 10 bucks for 2 big slices and a drink. That's a great deal.
Very good Pizza. Friendly service. 100% will go back again.
Excellent slices - best lunch spot for pizza in DT Albany. They should bring pro hockey back to Albany!
Delicious NYC Slices! Tomato Basil and Chicken Bacon Ranch will knock your socks off! Reasonably priced at $3.50 for a generously sized slice.
Thanks for the fast delivery today on the hottest day of the year. The whole office enjoyed the pizza and you guys are always so nice to your customers.
When our office orders pizza, we don't go anywhere else. Their meat lovers and veggie lovers pizzas are a smash hit for our office of 30. They're huge slices, generous portions, and quite filling. I honestly don't know why so many have left bad reviews. It's kind of sad...
I love this place. Some of the biggest slices in town and it’s just damn good pizza.
Before attending an AEW show at the MVP arena, my grandson and I stopped in and we were welcomed by a friendly staff. The pizza and knots were soooooooo delicious 👍. The other comment I would like to share is that the dipping sauce used for the knots was so tasty according to my grandson and he thought it be even better on the pizza so he decided to dip his slice in that sauce too. 😂 Thank you for your hospitality.
Got 2 slices of Pizza and a garlic knot. They let me have just one knot...some places require you to purchase several. The pizza was great. I got one with vegetables and one with sausage. Both very good. The garlic knot had a bit of sweetness to it that I found a bit odd. Staff is awesome. Helped me find my lost keys.
I've been eating here for 17yrs and they never disappoint. I love the big slices and flavor choices. They are usually packed especially on Fridays but I think that's a testament to how good they are. I also love that the majority of the staff has been there a long time so for us regulars it's nice to see a familiar face who knows what we like.
Some of the best pizza I've ever eaten...and I've traveled the world. This is true Italian style pizza with superb quality ingredients and a perfect hand tossed tender/slightly crisp on the bottom crust. High value too: prices are more than reasonable with large portions. This is a family owned pizzeria with its roots in old Italy...seriously, I talked with the son who now runs the biz. I will go out of my way again to eat here and so should you. Pizza greatness.
I work right across the street. Sapienzas is awesome. Going in for a slice can be hectic, it’s a little congested at times with the layout and sometimes counter service isn’t the best. HOWEVER, i haven’t ever had a bad slice of pizza from Sap’s. My job orders from there frequently to host team lunches. Yesterday was my turn to host an office baby shower. At 11:00am we placed a large order (6 XL pizzas, salad tray, sodas) and were given a confirmed delivery for our requested time of 12:00pm. At 12:01pm I met the driver down in our building lobby. He was very friendly and polite. Our food was packaged well and sensibly (no loose salad dressing, etc). The driver even loaded the pizzas onto our cart for us, he was wonderful! The order was 100% correct and the pizza was piping hot. It was perfect, and great customer service to boot. I would definitely recommend Sapienza’s pizza to anyone looking for great pizza in Albany.
Moved to downtown Albany a few years ago and have been looking for a go to pizzeria. The food is pretty tasty and you get a lot for the price. The employees are nice. I'll definitely be back.
I recently ordered a pie to go and when I arrived it was ready. By the time we got home the pizza was still hot. The crust and sauce complimented each other so perfectly with the cheese melted beautifully on top. I told myself I would only eat one slice but it would have been a disservice not to. My mother stared at me after she bit into her huge slice and asked me where I found this treasure. That’s how good it is! Thank you Pizzeria Sapienza!
This place is actually very good. The cheese is good. The crust doesn’t taste like any other crust I’ve had before and they season their pizza well. Prices are bang on. If you’re in a rush and want good pizza, go here. They sell by the slice.
Watch out for the way you pay here. It happens that what they like to make too many mistakes over the time when you are ready to pay. Please don't pay with credit card. They like to extra charge you. No a safe place to eat. Things have to be clear. They cannot charge you for a full pizza when you only bought a slice.
If you're looking for a delicious, quick bite to eat this is the place. The kids loved it. I do wish the staff would check/tidy up the tables and bathroom more regularly. But they remodeled so the atmosphere is much better than previously. They have some outdoor seating available.
Fresh pizza. Best and most consistent. Friendly. Still great deals. My son and friends rode their bikes to Albany, then he brought them all here for the pizza.
I'm a regular customer that eat at their Pizzeria. Located in downtown Albany N.Y. next to the Time Union Center that has various kinds of events. The restaurant offers a variety great tastings foods at excellent prices. The Italian sauce is delicious tasting unlike anyone else's. They also have outdoor eating arrangements and they deliver food to various locations.
Visiting Albany from out of town, needed a quick bite to eat, walked in, not impressive to look at (typical pizza place). Ordered the best meatball sub ever-the meatballs were perfect! Great staff too.
Stopped in for a slice before a show at the MVP center. Service was quick considering the volume of people. The pizza was very good and the prices very reasonable. Recommend if you are looking for a good slice.
Ate there prior to going to a concert. Location is convenient to MVP arena. Service was great and the pizza and wings were delicious.
Delicious pizza! Friendly staff! And even a tv with local news. What else could I ask for? They’ve never failed!
Delicious pizza! Huge slices. I will be stopping in every week! If you’re downtown and want pizza, this is the place!!
This pizza place was perfect on a very stressful night in Albany. I was going to go to another pizzeria, but when I was passing by I stopped in here and they offered me a deal that I simply could not refuse. Let's just say that I got three boxes of pizza at the end of the night for a decent price. I was able to use these boxes to later feed the homeless in Albany, about six people, as well as a couple, and one person in Schenectady. Not only that but the multi-residential house that I live in I also offered about seven slices to the community here, which they enjoyed on a easy-going night. You don't know what an honor it was to get a deal like that and to meet people like you here in Albany. It was such a pleasure. Thank you so much for this delicious pizza, which I have to rate 10 out of 10, As for the pricing, I have to say the pizza was filling after just four slices. It was in fact very delicious four slices. Usually I can eat up to 6, but four was more than sufficient here. Lord Jesus Christ and Buddha be with you all. Thanks for reading my review. If I come to Albany, it will be either here or the Cafe Lark pizzeria, which sells a 12 slice pizza for $14.99.
I love their Pizza for over twenty years and it still the same great flavor. I wish they did more delivery or use a delivery service for delivery. Is that worth it
I’ve ordered delivery multiple times recently for my office and everyone raved about the pizza! Our delivery has always been on time and we cannot say enough positive things about Sapienza’s!!! It is definitely a regular for us now!!!
I have been having the hardest time finding an authentic slice of pizza with plenty of cheese and sauce, until I had a slice from Pizzaria Sapienza. I paid almost $5.00 for one slice of sausage & pepperoni pizza but it was very much worth it. The pizza was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed every bite!
Used to be one of the best in Albany before CoVid ruined everything. Slowly, and hopefully, getting back to that!
The pizza is really good just not consistent. Last time the pepperoni was sooo good this time it wasn't but the mushroom was amazing.
Great job on the new renovations! And thank you for not changing the menu or how you make the pizza! Delicious as always!!!
Decent pizza (not the best and nothing special, but fine), but the service was great. Stopped in for a slice before a show at the Times Union, so naturally the place was packed. Although it looked like a zoo from the outside, the line moved extremely fast.
Very popular downtown full Pizza and slice spot, great place to grab something quick before you go to the arena. Not a fancy place but quick casual service, with great slices!
This was a great place to get pizza. By the slice or the pie. Big slices. I thought the customer service was good. If I'm ever back in downtown Albany I'll likely stop in.
Wow. Their chicken parm pizza was incredible. Very generous with their toppings. Could only eat two slices! They let me try a piece of sausage and OMG it was the best I've ever had. Recommend this place.
My boyfriend and I went here before a Jeff Dunham show. It was packed. The staff got orders out quickly. There were multiple choices. The slices were huge and filling
A solid downtown option for a quick slice or standard pizzeria fare. For the price, the quality and portion size is fair
Good pizza. Lunch rush always cleans them out. Do not see use of gloves often, and condiments are carried around customer to customer. If you're a neat freak you may not like this pizza place but it's great food at a great price overall.
We were wanting New York style pizza and we definitely were pleased with that. However, not very happy with the service. We got there an hour before they were closing and they didn't seem to want us there. They even started putting the chairs on the tables 45 minutes before they closed while we were still sitting there eating our pizza. Just felt like we were being rushed. We even reassured them that we would be out of there before they closed, but it didn't seem to matter.
This pizza is okay if not terrific it's too thick and crust is too crispy on the bottom of the pizza the toppings are tremendous though and the price is good it's just the way it has to be gooey tube ready pizza is not supposed to be like that light crisp
The slices are fairly cheap but little to no flavor in them. Not a terrible place to grab a slice before an event at the Times Union Center but there are much better places.
Ordered a slice of pepperoni. Honestly, it was ok. I've had better. I don't bash restaurants. This is just one I won't return to.
Great pizza but they are never open. They close crazy early and their hours on Google are literally always wrong and have been for years.
Pizza looked like it had been sitting there for long while and had flies on it. Didn't eat there.
I was in town for a night and saw their sign stating Legendary Taste and had to try. They did not disappoint! The pizza was delicious. It had such a tasty sauce and cheese that I ate both slices. What I will say that I did not like was the gross brown/burnt flour all over the bottom of the pizza in clumps. It honestly tasted and looked like either the oven or prep area has not been cleaned in a long time. I was grossed out by it but wiped it off mostly and ate anyway. The flavor was that good, lol. I know flour goes under the pizza but I've never seen it look that dirty colored or taste that bad. Plus it was all over my plate. The staff was very friendly!
Ordered online for delivery, got a phone call that they do not do delivery after I paid with my credit card and left a 10 dollar tip for the driver. We were from out of town and the reviews were great. Just don't pay over the phone as they do not deliver. We were handed out pizza and fingers and no thank you no nothing and the gentleman just walked away.
The pizza is pretty trash, and thinner than a sheet of paper. Way too overpriced for what it is
I had a slice of the chicken parm. It was okay, but the guy touched the crust with his fingers to put the slice in the oven and then went to the cash register ($10 min for ATM) then touched the crust again.
Really nice staff. Bone-in Buffalo wings were breaded, soggy, undercooked and more garlic than hot sauce. I would recommend they change everything about their wings.
Well the pizza fresh cooked is good but the pizza just sitting out to be reheated not that great. The only reason I see to go there is its better than "just me pizza and Johnathan's pizza". Though Sapienza's can improve i just don't see it happening. there sauce is vary salty there cheese is well for lack of a better word BLAND. The only way is really see to enjoy this pizza is if you have been drinking or have a need for something on the fly though it does take awhile to be served when dealing with lunch time traffic.
Service sucks from start to finish, the system they have for getting pizza into the oven leads to confusion at the register and the employees always seem irritated. The pizza is pretty good but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but every single time they drop the ball
I dont know what happened to the service there but everytime I try to order pizza theres a issue. This time I was put on hold three times after getting asked my address when calling. I understand things can get busy but it's just the last time I'm gonna deal with your business. The last two orders the pizza dough wasnt cooked all the way and the other was 2 hours late. I've been a long time customer but not anymore.
Lunch: The pizza was not warm; the tables and dining area were not clean; the entire dining room was filled with smoke from the ovens. We left smelling like burned flour and dissappointed.
Super expensive like the pizza is made of gold then tried down selling me by saying it would be a half our for a full pie just so he can sell the scarce selection of slices they had left. Didn't want my food scolding hot so he barely changed the temperature had to walk back in & get heated up more. Not a single full pie ready in display or even half of one & not heat lamps to keep them fresh when they first come out or at least to use during rush for those who just wanna grab & go. No o shredded Parm the only topping that I prefer that every other place has. Won't be returning unless I get compensated a full pie or something for the outrageous prices...
Used to go here regularly on pay weeks to treat myself to a couple slices. Always tipped generously. Pizza is quality, but service depends on the mood of the chefs/workers. Orders can get skipped over as they come out, and you could be waiting awhile.
I got a slice of cheese where everything fell off of the slice. I had an order of garlic knots that had no garlic butter on top. Straight bread. The workers had a bad attitude. Not coming here again
I ordered bruschetta and 3 slices of pizza and ranch dip (to meet the delivery minimum of $15). THE GOOD: Their minimum is a very reasonable price. The pizza crust was good. It was thin and crispy. Not soggy and well done throughout. THE BAD: The bruschetta was not bruschetta. It was literally a hoagie roll sliced in half and cut into pieces soaked with balsamic vinegar and diced tomatoes. It was completely soft and soggy. See the photo. The pizza was okayish. I tried cheese, spinach and ricotta, and tomato basil. The tomato basil had two teeny tiny prices of basil on it, I didn't even get to them when I tried the slice. It tastes like cheese pizza with uncooked tomatoes on top and no marinara. The ricotta and spinach would have been good except the sauce was so uneven I'd just get mouth fulls of sauce that totally overtook the spinach and ricotta. Had the sauce been distributed well, it would have been good. The cheese slice had the same problem. The tip of the slice was DRENCHED in sauce. All the cheese slid off the tip, it was just tons of sauce and a bit of crust. The the middle was NO SAUCE. None. Not one drop. Just crust and cheese. Then the top/edges had a tiny bit of sauce. It's as if someone was making a round pizza and put several ladles full of sauce right in the very middle of the dough and then failed to distribute it outward. There was also a large black, burnt chunk of flour/dough/I don't know what stuck to the bottom of the pizza. I had this weird sensation in my mouth of something gritty and hard and couldn't figure out what it was at first. See photo. The ranch cannot be called ranch. It was less of a ranch than the bruschetta was a bruschetta. It was like sour cream and a splash of buttermilk maybe? No spices, no classic ranch taste. Also very thick. Consistently of sour cream, not ranch. Overall, I wouldn't eat from here again. Save yourself the long wait and try something else.
These guys have the worst customer service in the pizza business. hung up on me after they made me call 5 times to try to place an order. Unbelievable how diffficult they make the process of ordering pizza. Stay away.
Pizza was cold and just thrown together after asking for it to be cooked well done it was soggy and gross..The mozzarella sticks and the macaroni bites were also cold, they took way to long time to deliver it. I will never order from here again!!
They are always rude when we call. They are always late with their delivery. And their pizza is aggressively sub-par. I have used them on several occasions and they never fail to disappoint.
Pizza and wings tast old and look burnt, worst pizza I ever had! Don’t order from there!
I walked in and walked right back out, they have fruit flies crawling all over the pizza, & in the case that the pizza is in and I can't believe people act like they don't see it. Go in and take a look is GUARANTEED. Disgusting!!!!
Order tenders with fries and hot wings. I get to work and the second box is filled with fries. I never got the hot wings. Will be calling on monday
I was in town on business and called to get a pizza delivered. I was greeted with a male voice on the phone saying "we're busy right now can you call back later". I explained I was going to place an order. Then the person hung up on me. Wow. Never in my life have I had encountered a pizza place that was too busy to take my money! Ordered from a nearby competitor instead. No biggie.
My food arrived cold although I live less then 5 minutes away. The order was wrong and the pizza was chewy, poor quality, the cheese was completely off the pizza. I am very dissatisfied.
It is Saturday night at 8:30pm. Google said they're open for another hour and a half and the guy told me that they're closing up for the night. They're good pizza, but since the owner died they just close whenever they feel like. What pizza place closes at 8:30 on a Saturday?
Terrible pizza, not even close to a nyc pizza. wings sucked and wer extra soggy, sub we ordered wasn't made correctly and they use the cheapest ingredients. The roll was the only decent part of the sub. I wouldn't even feed the turkey that was on the sub to the homeless in albany. Would not recommend this place to anyone. There's way better places close by.
First time here, we walk up to order as we were looking at the pizza up front it looked like it was sitting for a long time so we asked for a fresh cheese. Upon wanting to order they were too busy talking. Once we asked to have a large cheese one of the guys who was making the pizzas had an attitude and said “if you want a fresh pizza it’s going to be 40 minutes.” Rude as hell. Meantime their is literally only like 4 people there. Extremely rude, so rude we just walked out.
Manager was being nasty to mature employee..who was working hard. Owner came in and did nothing. Front crew usually pretty dense when you order. Super unorganized. OK but breast pizza. Attitude I'd owner manager toward employees in public) front I'd customers a total turn off. You cannot enjoy your food in a nasty environment. All seperate customers, as did I, left!
Our company used them for a banquet and ordered 25 pizzas a few days in advance to be picked up and were told it was no problem. Not even half the pizzas were ready on time and they then proceeded to help other customers before making the pizzas we ordered. We stood and waited for 90 minutes for the pizzas, which they made one at a time around helping other customers. When we called to complain, they told us we were ridiculous to think they could prepare that many pizzas on time and offered us not even half the money we spent for a refund. They have TERRIBLE customer service, never even apologized for the inconvenience and if I could give them zero stars, I would.
These are all lies. Their pizza is not even top 100 in Albany. Actually if Albany only had 100 pizza places this would be ranked 101. Friggin GROSS. I ordered pepperoni, mushroom and onions for delivery... 1hr 20mins later, when it finally got to me, it was cold and under cooked. Enjoy my $23 cause it's the last $$ you'll ever get from this customer. If I could rate the food I'd give it minus stars. One bright spot, the delivery guy was nice.
I went to this place awhile ago and arrived at 11 am and they didn't open until 1120 am Not friendly at all and very expensive
I used to love the pizza but I’m not dealing with nasty attitudes over a miscommunication (on their end), and then still spend nearly $20. Absolutely not. An apology would have sufficed but that’s okay. I will never give them my money, and I’m gonna make sure I spread the word. Negative news spreads faster than positive news. Disgusting behavior. Do better.
They’re robbing customers!! I paid almost $10 for 2 slices, one being pepperoni with 5 slices of pepperoni on a large slice!! Didn’t realize it until I got home and opened the “bag” (they had no boxes😏) How disappointed I was…they should be ashamed of themselves…shows that they really don’t care. Welcome to Albany…the capital 😬
The owner has a horrible attitude.. The owner was out front of his restaurant. Selling pizza on sidewalk upset Screaming at someone.. saying hes gona beat up a customer. calling them a mass hole because he didn't buy a slice after asking what kinds they have on the table... terrible way to treat the public in the city you do business in.... .
