So my husband and I were at this restaurant on Saturday night the food was so delicious and they give you big portions of it good amount to eat this was our first time coming here . Our waiter his name was nick he was great at explaining certain things on the menu greatly appreciate it and he made us feel welcomed also very friendly and great with conversation so if you want a good waiter ask for NICK we recommend him . We ordered spare ribs which is my favorite but these ribs the sauce on it they use was so good loved it recommend the spare ribs . My husband loved the fried chicken he was so amazed he said it was so delicious he reccomends the fried chicken as well .I loved the vetable lomaine too soo delicious .We definitely will be back again we love the atmosphere and I definitely loved the sake bottle they have I like to collect glasses lol so I'm saving my sake bottle lol 😆 but yes we definitely will be back with the kids my daughter loves Boba so they got Boba drinks and she will love to try it at this restaurant .

This place is a clean hole in the wall restaurant. The serving size is enough for two days of food. Maybe three. I did a to go order. I purchased the House Special Fried Rice. It was delicious. It is brown not yellow or orange. The real fried rice is brown! The spring roll is perfect. I also ordered the Chow Mei Fun. Which was also flavorful. I am glad I asked the Barbershop guy down the street which Chinese food restaurant was the best and her referred me here to Shining Rainbow. They wrap your food in a beautiful, clean wrapper. The to-go bag is like a gift bag. They even give you dainty hand wipes with the restaurant logo on it.

Food is amazing here. “Chicken and mushroom hot pot rice” is worth the wait. The flavor is tastefully balanced with ginger, scallions and right amount of sauce, I.e. not too salty. On the other hand, the “sautéed pork strips with spicy sauce” is spicy enough. A perfect dish to have with white rice. I also order 2 dim sum items and they just make them right. Very pleasant experience here.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Albany. Loved the curry seafood fried rice, honey walnut chicken, lamb skewers, and the lavender bubble tea. Nicely decorated, upscale environment, waiters are attentive. Large selection and huge portions.

I have had the best Chinese food in Chinatown in New York City and this is up there with it. Absolutely delicious food. The place is also very pretty nice table service, fresh hot tea and a pretty nice ceramic pot. Nice vibe !! Will return . The Ginger scallion lobster was to die for and so where the soup dumplings.

We had an exceptional experience with this Chinese restaurant! The Chicken Fried Rice and Sesame Chicken were delicious, each dish bursting with flavor, clearly prepared and packaged with great care. We skipped the Fried Chicken and Egg Roll on our second order as we didn't enjoy them the first time—the chicken was burnt, and the egg roll was dry. Although the Sesame Chicken was excellent, it came without rice. Fortunately, we had ordered the Chicken Fried Rice separately. We can't wait to visit in person and enjoy more of their fantastic food. Highly recommend!

We highly recommend this Chinese restaurant which is very authentic We were on the road trip to pass by Albany that was on Sunday … I checked a lot of places and restaurants already closed then we decided to give it a try : Shining Rainbow 1 BBQ - this is not a typical one, a bit salty and the sauces ruined this dish 2 prawns 🍤 with walnut : excellent and very delicious 3 the beef on the iron plate - also delicious 4 fried rice - it is up to standard 5 sweet and sour spareribs - it is surprisingly good 6 fried dumplings (dim sum) - Huge size but quite tasty too The servers are extremely friendly too

Shining Rainbow Chinese Restaurant Central Ave Albany N.Y. If your palette craving dim sum try the har gow, soup dumplings scallion pancake, stuffed bell pepper. Also try lobster sautéed ginger,scallions, wonderful flavor. Spare ribs was delicious but too heavy on the sauce,this would have to be tweaked next visit. Young chow fried rice had fresh ingredients and had wonderful flavors. As well as roast duck and steamed chicken feet with black soy bean,and it wonderful to see a restaurant offer coke products and Pepsi products that way the customers can choose their favorite. So if your in the neighborhood stop by you won't be disappointed.

place has decent food. granted i am not chinese. but dont get all you can eat. its not really worth it. just order the $16 hot pot and a $11 beef and some veggies. and call it a day. I paid $96 for 2 people to eat that same thing.

Good customer service. long wait time for takeouts. food is not the best for takeout. at the restaurant, the food is excellent well balance with flavors and salt and sugar. The atmosphere is nice, the waiters the servers are good in customer service, English is decent. the place is kind of small and a little rundown.

The ambience and service were great. I was underwhelmed by the pan fried noodles but I loved the shrimp dumplings. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I’ll be back, and plan to order from the ‘spicy’ menu.

Ordered Delivery. Got General Tso’s, House Lo Mein, Chicken Curry, Egg rolls, Chicken and Broccoli. Ordered online through google. Was coming home from airport travel and was super hungry. Decided to try this place due to reviews. I’ve eaten at almost all the local Chinese places so I got a good grasp on the average taste. The food was piping hot upon arrival and service was quick. Unfortunately, the food is bland as all get out. The general tso is neither spicy or sweet and it’s just chicken covered in a bland red sauce. It doesn’t have any taste at all, The egg rolls have no flavor at all whatsoever. I had to use my own sweet chili in the house to enjoy my Dinner. The lo-mein also bland and the chicken and broccoli and it isn’t as bad as the rest but also very bland. Spent 90 on a dinner for 3, none of it was flavorful even though the portions were generous. Unfortunately, I will not be ordering from here again and will stick to my other usuals. That’s what I get for doing something outside my comfort zone. Dismal, bland, Chinese food for dinner. Super disappointed, was looking forward to a spicy/sweet general tso chicken when I got home.

Wish I could give this place zero stars. Ordered food to be delivered to me at work yesterday. Placed my order at 11:30. ETA was 12:45. I had to leave work early and called to have them cancel my order because it was now after 1:45. I was told he would be there in a minute. Called back at 2:00 to tell them my food still hadn't been delivered. Needless to say I left work at 2:30 for the day and my food never showed up.

Been here a few times but have never found the service to be good or the food very excellent. After several alright experiences, the nail in the coffin for me is they have forgotten to turn off their online ordering system for Christmas. Although I received a text confirmation about my order, they told me they did not make anything and that even though they had several tables open, they would not let me order anything to-go as they prioritize sit in customers only for holidays. I take no issue that your restaurant wants to stop take out orders on holidays. BUT Please learn to manage your online ordering system or at least have the manners to make an order to-go after making a mistake or… apologize? 100% never coming back.
