Where from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but this is our go-to spot to eat when we come down to Galveston to go on a cruise. Every time we come down here we make sure to stop on the way down here and on the way back home. Love this place, the margaritas are on point.

I have to admit that one of my favorite restaurants is Gringo’s! Today, me, my mom and sister visited the Fuqua location. We were very pleased with the food, atmosphere, but, most importantly, the exceptional treatment our server, Jay, gave us! He was extremely attentive, and treated us as if we were his only customers, which we weren’t. I watched as he gave the same service to his other tables as he gave us. Kudos to the hostess, the cooks, the manager, but especially to Jay! Keep up the great work!

If you enjoy seafood and mexican food, this is one spot where you need to try El Capitan plate!!! Oh my if I could give 100 stars I will. The atmosphere was amazing the food was freshly made and hot. There was no wait. I was highly surprised. My waiter Gilbert was Outstanding. It was my first time there and his greeting was perfect not only did he introduce himself he also told me about some of the platters they have on the menu. I normally get my usual but because of Gilbert I changed up and tried something new and omg Excellent. The service was so great even the Manager on duty stopped by and greeted me, also to see if there was anything I needed. I will definitely come back to this location and request for Gilbert! Delicious food! Everything was hot and fresh, cooked to perfection! I especially enjoyed the outstanding customer service! Chris Rodriguez was our server, he’s amazing! I appreciate his patience and great attitude; very friendly, helpful and kind. I was also very satisfied that Liz kept refilling our chips and salsa and also helped to check in on our table. Another server name Eugene overheard my request when our waiter was not around and he went to bring us what we needed (huge plus, thanks for stepping up and working as a team!) Gringos food is a local staple so nothing to say about the food (it’s always good), but the staff…is AMAZING! I can’t remember the last time I went to a restaurant and had this great and friendly of service. The two kids working the hostess stand were communicative, friendly, kind. Multiple staff came to our table and took care of us. We waited for nothing. They were on top of everything. Absolutely incredible service. I was blown away. The manager here is really doing something. 😆

Wow. This is not your standard Mexican food restaurant. The flavors and sauces are way better than any other Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten at. And they have free ice cream cones! Definitely go here.

The food is great! The seafood enchiladas were great, as was all the food. The service was phenomenal! We had the pleasure of having Star as our waitress, and she is the best we've ever had anywhere. I have to say this isn't our usual Gringos location, but the service was top notch. The young lady brought us to our table really went out of the way to make the kids feel welcome and even helped the little one unpack her crayons. The food was delicious (as expected) and our waitress did a great job anticipating our needs. Yes I would love more chips! Yes I would love another plate! Yes my wife will have another margarita! BTW you have to plan your trip for National Margarita Day if possible.

We came in less than a hour before closing on a Tuesday night. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and handled as if it was the start of the day. I apologized for coming in so late and explained that we thought they closed at 10 every night and the host proceeded to tell us to take as much time as we needed ; “we were right on time”. Our server, Joseph T., immediately greeted us once we were seated and was extremely friendly. He suggested drinks and even customized my 10 year old god-daughter’s meal to best fit her appetite. Refills were consistent as needed. He paid great attention to our table. Made good conversation. The epitome of a remarkable Tuesday night experience on customer service alone. The meal was tasty, fresh and hot. Kudos to the kitchen staff for not dropping the ball at the close of shift. 10/5 stars. Amazing.

Best complementary chips and salsa ever! Had red and green dips. We ordered rib eye street tacos, chicken chimichanga, and the Cabo salad. So good! Refried and charro beans (very flavorful and hearty) came with entrees. Server Andrew gave us the Amazon creamy cilantro salad dressing and the Margarita vinaigrette salad dressing.

Double Birthday celebration. Jude was our waiter and treated us like queens. Everything was terrific. We really enjoyed our dining experience.

The food was great! Keith waited on us and he was a phenomenal waiter. The temperature inside the restaurant is almost always cold. Bring a sweater or blanket. They have good sweet tea. Also, they remodeled part of the restrooms and it looks very nice. When we were there two of the toilets were out of service in the ladies room.

This is a favorite stop of mine. They have delicious food, it’s very simple and affordable, and a very fun atmosphere. You will not regret trying this place once you do! I don’t think I’ve had a thing on the menu that wasn’t delicious Lee made and the waiters constantly refill my water and are treating me with great respect and always have a positive attitude. This is a favorite restaurant of mine in the Houston area, definitely check it out when you get a chance!

WHERE TO BEGIN!? Today is Dominican Independence Day and though this is a restaurant with the most delicious Mexican Food, they were playing some of my favorite Dominican songs from my hay day! Matthew made this an INCREDIBLE FIRST EXPERIENCE! I’ve never been here before, but if everyone is like Matthew, I’ll be coming twice a month after church with my wife. My princess and I were EXTREMELY impressed with Matthew’s service, from the moment he introduced himself to the time the food came out, all the way up until we were ready to leave. Matthew was so much fun and we weren’t the only table he was waiting but I felt like we were the only people there because of his detailed care to our orders and our needs. I almost didn’t want to leave and wanted to befriend Matthew on social media, this guy has incredible social skills and he’s so humble because he’s only been working there since October! He told us IN DETAIL what would come with our meal and gave the best suggestions! Truly impressed me, my friend. Love you and your staff. Stay on your A game, Gringo’s! Absolutely amazing Mexican cuisine. Freshest, I mean everytime fresh, chips and salsa. Served to you along with some excellent avocado dip. Probably one of only a couple of restaurants that I have no problem finishing my entire meal. Just wish there were more Houston locations.

This was my tenth time coming to this location with my family and we all had a great time! Food was excellent and service was top notch in my book. Only downside is many people like this place so sometimes there is a waiting period before being seated. Other than that I would recommend Gringos to anyone looking for tasty food and cool environment! ** Update** Reunited with my family here at the same Gringos by 45 south... service was great..waiting time for the table for a Saturday night was not long at all!! Food there was delicious as expected but I will say the menu has changed since I been there last time. So the plate i usually get was lessened for lack of a better word, it used to have a bit more items but has been reduced just a small portion though. That was the only small down side, other than that had a great time and had great food there! If you re a fan of Tex Mex style food then make some time to out for a get away with your friends and family!

We ate at Gringos Tex-Mex last night between Almeda-Genoa & Fuqua. They do have a gluten-free menu with loads of options. These are the Fish/Shrimp tacos. You can request either or & ask first one of each. We had their large Queso & chips- Delish! My husband is a Celiac & had no issues. We've eaten here, before & enjoyed it then. My brother & sister's families rave about it! The frozen Strawberry margarita was yummy with right amount tequila for the hard working day we had. The servers are nice, timely, & knowledgeable. No wait on a Friday night if arrive before 7pm, big and clean inside although may appear sketchy on outside due to surrounding businesses. Gringo's food never disappoints. They have good-sized portions and have nice rotating seasonal dishes. You can get an appetizer and add rice and beans to make a meal, if you like nibbling on a variety of dishes. The Marisco Bowl is another family favorite. If you join their loyalty program (there's an initial fee but you get that back in coupons), there are monthly freebies, and you get advance notice of specials.

A coworker and I swung by this TexMex restaurant for lunch recently. It had been several years since I’d been to Gringos, but I remember it being solid TexMex. We had a lovely time, and I was quickly reminded that this isn’t jus one of the many TexMex spots it’s the Houston area, but it’s one of the better ones The restaurant is appealing and inviting from the outside. There’s plenty of parking, a to-go station, covered patio seating, and plenty of seating inside The staff were great. We were greeted upon arrival and promptly sat at a table of our choosing. It wasn’t completely packed, but much of the restaurant was full, yet we still had our pick of booth vs table vs bar etc We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Both salsas are great, but the green one is creamy, packs a little heat, and is just delicious The menu offers pretty much all your signature TexMex meals from tacos, burritos, fajitas. Bowls, enchiladas, salads, soups, and many many more. There is a fully stocked bar with all sorts of beer and other drink options The food was terrific, and the display was exceptional. Everything was plated so well, and there were little touches here and there that showed they set they bar just a little higher Some tips: Join the Gringos TexMex insider club/reward loyalty program. You can earn points as you eat. You also get a bonus $25 added to your account when signing up I got the combo fajita tacos, which were solid, but I think I preferred the chicken fajitas way more than the beef Cheers!!

The Pacifico shrimp is bomb!!!!!!! I also had the margarita and it was so good. The green salsa is a favorite of mine. They put a lot of flavor in the shrimp. I liked how the bacon was cooked all the way. Sometimes when bacon is wrapped it’s not good right so I loved this one. The vegetables were good too. Our waiter was awesome! Her name was Amanda or Ashley or Anna or something like that but she knew the menu and answered every question asked. If she didn’t know it, she would tell us then go find the answer. We didn’t really have to look for her so that was good. The manager came and made sure everything was good and it was! Oh they have free ice cream. Great options for the kids because they always want ice cream. Thank you for the great experience here! I’m new to Houston and starting over, so this was nice!

The best food item is the crispy shrimp enchiladas!! Our waitress was really nice. Sometimes it is a long wait and staff does take long to come by to your table but it’s understandable. The only thing they need, is more light outside. Parking lot is very dark. Green salsa is so good!

I’m fan of Gringos and Jimmy Changas I usually try it every time that I come to Texas but this Gringos specially is very good the food is great. The only problem is that they got the AC so freezing cool, that you cannot enjoy your food properly. I ask to the waitress and even they told me that it was cool, and people were shivering. I came to the restaurant when it was raining and get wet and dry in the cool is not a good experience.

I always visit knowing that I will have excellent service and good food! Tonight was another great experience. The service was great and the food delicious. Nice place to unwind before going to bed!

Missed breakfast this morning so we went for a big lunch at Gringo’s. First time at this location, and we were one of the first as they open at 11 am. Upon being seated we met Adam who from the start was very up beat and ready take our requests. Gotta say out of all the restaurants I’ve been to he is among the best, as far as service. Fast, friendly, and efficient. Next time we come I will be looking to sit at his table.

Our experience at Gringos Mexican restaurant was fantastic. The waiter took great care of our family, and the food was outstanding. It's worth noting that the restaurant offers unlimited ice cream, though cleanliness could be improved. Despite this, the overall service and delicious cuisine make it a recommendable dining spot.

I really enjoyed dinning here. The atmosphere is very nice and the place is clean. They have some of better tamales that I have got from a restaurant. How ever I didn’t care for the beans, they had a very odd taste for refried beans. The customer service was excellent and Jessica was a great server.

Our first time coming as we always seen how pack it is and decided to give it a try. The ambient was great, does give the whole Tex-Mex vibe. The chips and salsa ware good, like any other place. I got the enchiladas, they were okay nothing exaggerated. I got it with a side of rice which was good and Frijole Charros which I was not a fan of as it did not taste authentic. My partner got the Chimichanga, the fajita meat was delicious and he did liked it. Overall I recommend to give the place a try if you are near the area, although it is highly recommended to go to an actual Mexican restaurant.

We went there on a Thursday for lunch about 1 o’clock. This was our first trip to this establishment. The place was very large and it didn’t seem too busy, but I believe they were short a few servers. It took us some time for us to meet our server and to place our order and then after we got our food, it was rare that we saw her and It was just a long time in between visits. The chips and salsa were very good however neither of these two sauces had any heat whatsoever to them, but they did have good flavor. I did ask if they had something hotter and she did bring me out another red sauce that had a real nice kick to it but it wasn’t overbearing. I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga. I really like the way they brought it out. Instead of being covered and getting soggy with sauces all the accompaniments were on the side so you could dip or doctor your chimichanga the way you wanted to. The rice was very well seasoned and not just colored yellow with little or no seasoning like most Mexican restaurants. The refried beans had a nice texture to them and the flavor was good. Overall, we had a very good experience here and there are many more things on the menu we want to try. We do look forward to coming back.

Met here for a family meal and we will be back. Food was very flavorful and huge portions. Attention to details. Loved the addition of other veggies to the fajita plate and pico! The poblano cream sauce was decadent and delicious. Bailey, our server, was friendly and attentive and made sure we had time to visit and enjoy our meal. She also knew the menu well - the Blue Mule she recommended was so good that I had 2. The only draw back for me was the chips. They were thicker than normal and a little grainy. But the red and green sauces were great. The only reason I didn’t give Atmosphere 5 stars was the parking lot. It’s a little sketchy but there is security. All in all it was a great night.

EAT SLEEP TRAVEL

Went in first thing in the morning and it was on point. Sat straight away, fast service and food was delicious. They happen to have a special pulled pork quesadilla on the side of the menu we tried. This item is a must try for anyone who ventures their way. (Picture provided) We were in and out without any issues. Our server was polite and attentive. Food is what we already love and enjoy. I tend to stick with the enchiladas here. Three amigos or the Cajun/Shrimp enchiladas. The only down side is that it can get kind of loud inside. Food is what we expect, but nothing amazing. (Other than the special quesadillas) ;)

Very convenient location cause its off of the 45 gulf freeway feeder. I think the restaurant needs to improve the parking situation at this location. One thing I truly love is when my waitress or waiter has a great suggestion for me and my family. I get excited when they can give me detailed information about my entree so I know exactly what I will be getting on my plate, as well as the prices. The food was amazing, and everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my experience at this location. My family and I will be back. Descent place, but nothing special. A friend said this was their favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I disagree. 👍We arrived just a few minutes before the end of happy hour. They came by quickly and got us a pair of margaritas at the Happy Hour price. 👎 We paid for their tequila in our margaritas. They tasted okay, but they weren’t very strong at all. 👍 I’d say the chips and salsa were the high points of the meal. The chips of cells are very tasty, and that’s the usual type of restaurant tortilla chip. The Amazon sauce was the star of the show, though! It’s a creamy green sauce that goes well with everything! 👎 I saw Chalupa’s on the menu, and asked if they were like the ones from Taco Bell. Our waiter said yes, but when they came out, they were tostadas! Frankly, I’d rather head Taco Bell’s Chalupa‘s. 👍We also ordered the border sampler appetizer dish as a meal. It has a good variety of tasty bites in it. I would say it’s the second best thing we had there. 👍 other than leaving us a stray on the Chalupa’s (a.k.a. The tostadas), the service is very good, and the atmosphere is good as well. If you’re looking for a reasonable priced Mexican meal, you could do worse than gringos, but I think you do better as well.

Ate lunch here Tuesday. 01/05/2026. Had seafood. Overwhelming amount of cheese. Chips not fresh. Threw up size times. Food was horrible!

Don’t order from Gringos app. They will say it has nothing to do with restaurant. Took 2 hours to get food and was cold. Store manager was no help. She put blame on door dash.

Let me start by saying the food was up to standard that I expect from Gringos, the service on the otherhand was absolutely atrocious. Yoshi couldn't have been any less attentive and downright wrong on EVERY part of our meal. Ordered a queso, got dropped off and had to ask for chips three times, by the time we got some the queso was cold. Ordered a frozen margarita and came back as rocks, didn't receive the frozen one until after we had gotten our food (Was melted by the time we got it). Presidente combo "appetizer" portion was wrong and wound up receiving both at the same time so it was soggy. Asked for a Coke refill and watched her go talk to the hostess for five minutes while waiting for a drink. Wound up catching a manager walking by to explain everything, and instead of owning up to it Yoshi said, and I quote "I don't know what happened, I guess I didn't write it down" . But we indeed watched her write it down. Wound up getting charged for a the first wrong rocks margarita, and we had to get a manager to remove post checking out because she didn't show us the check. Utter incompetence displayed, and this is coming from someone who used to be a server for four years. I can play devils advocate and can be sympathetic, but homegirl only had a couple tables, and still just kept yapping at the host stand.

Meat was raw when I asked for well done.squash totally raw no grill to them At all.. the pd 155.00 for 3 plate 2 2 fajitas one 1 grilled chicken we pd.. then we ask for 2 to go cokes then came back and charges us agaiin with $7.77 for a coke for refill . Nothing hardly enough on our plates for $155. Nope not again.. Will go else where.
