This is my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in the entire country and I've traveled to 47 States so far. I've been eating here since I'm about 5 years old. Nearly 58 years. the same dish all the time. A double order of New Zealand mussels with the extra hot tomatoe sauce is absolutely to die for. don't know what I would ever do if this place closed down
My Dad first brought me to Vincent's over 30 years ago. I loved it then, and I love it now. Was in here a month ago while in lower Manhattan on business. Linguine with fried calamari and medium red sauce. Insanely good. Shipping some sauce to me Dad for this coming Father's Day. Thanks, Vincent's, for staying great after all these years.
I think anybody who didn't think the food was tremendous and thought the service was rude was not a native New Yorker. Went there on a busy busy night food was fresh hot service was prompt as could be expected when a restaurant is packed and serves fresh cooked dinners. Most of the bad reviews are from people who don't regularly eat in NYC. Don't go anywhere else if you go to Little Italy hit them first
The experience was absolutely outstanding. The servers worked together to create an environment unparalleled to any restaurant. Cocktails, wine, appetizers, and meals were all spectacular! I would suggest to a friend. Lobster ravioli and seafood fra diavlo were 10/10. Watch out the spicy sauce will make you break a sweat! (In a good way).
Met the Mike's of Vincent's! You must try their "spicey" sauce. It's excellent, and everyone was sweet and accommodating. We hang out for a couple of hours just chatting them up. It's definitely worth a stop!
Ate here with some fellow jurors when I was on jury duty nearby. Lunch was served quickly and was amazing. Their house made red sauce is truly remarkable, and the eggplant parmigiano is easily the best I've ever tasted!
10/10 World class Italian food. Absolutely delicious. We ordered lasagna, linguini and meatballs with sweet sauce, and gnocchi bolognese. Truly amazing. We have eaten Italian food in Italy and Argentina and Vincent’s is as good as it gets. The bread was fantastic as well. Don’t miss it!
My Grandma came here when my Dad was little and my family still lived in NY. Had to be the 50s. Anytime we get back, we stop by for the shrimp and biscuits with med sauce. I just had the best oysters and and martini. 4 generations give 5 stars.
Best Italians in nyc very traditional style The sauce and flavour is amazing Highly recommended
i will be 82 this year. i have had the pleasure of eating at vinnies since i was 8 years of age. my 4 children and there children still go with out me. i am pissed. love the food.
Love Vincent's! Have been coming here for over 45 years since my Nana took me here and we would sit at the counter. When I used to work for the Yankees I would bring calamari, shrimp, rigatoni and their delicious Hot Sauce!!! Just So Good! My Yankee friends loved it as well! ❤👍
Family restaurant that deserves more recognition! Scrumptious food for reasonable prices and the restaurant is not usually super busy. The free bread is absolutely divine with balsamic. Their sauces are TRUELY divine. The vodka one is the best. Perfect for authentic Italian!
This has been a traditional family celebration spot for decades. They fra diavolo is amazing. Shrimp balls are giant and filling. Great veal parm. But it is al about the hot red sauce for me. Nothing like it anywhere else in the city - and they sell it by the jar!
My husband and I were coming here for our dates over 19 years ago. And Mussy, our beloved waiter who took care of us every Wednesday afternoon for a year and a half while we dated still is there, bless him and the entire staff at the original Vincent's. We just went there with our eldest daughter this Saturday. The food is wonderful as always. This place has been a staple in our family for decades. And now that we are leaving N.Y. to relocate elsewhere, we are going to miss it. You guys are the best! Maybe we will meet again when you are hanging my daughter's picture in your establishment.
Love this spot. It’s a must for their spicy pasta sauce and excellent sangria. One of my favorites! Went here recently for the Italy / England Euro Finals match, which was a great experience. Everyone at the bar was friendly.
Amazing food! Our group had eggplant parm, ravioli and penne a la vodka. Pasta was cooked perfectly and portions were huge.
This food is delicious, I had the lobster ravioli which was perfect and my friends had the salmon with potatoes and steamed broccoli all very tasty and cooked to pefection, we also had calamari with their special sauce and that was seasoned to perfection. I will be back with more friends
First off let me tell all of you that I have been eating at Vincent's since I was a kid and I'm still in love with this place more than 35 years later. If you want the best that little Italy has to offer don't cheat yourself out of this restaurant you'll be missing out on one of the best Italian food experience New York has to offer. If your stomach can take the medium or hot sauce belisima but I stick to the sweet sauce. Don't miss out on life try Vincent's
Fantastic food. We've been to New York for a week and landed in that restaurant by accident. We travel a lot and we've been to Italy many times, so we could appreciate the taste. It's worth the money.
Great food and friendly staff. Not super expensive and good portions were great.
I love this place. I've been going for over 25 years. The shrimp balls are amazing and the sauce is the best in Little Italy. 5 stars!
I happened to be in new york city to visit the feast of san gennaro i was told to visit vincent’s on mott and hester st, the food was the best traditional italian food that i’ve ever had I was blown away by the sauce on my prepared dishes. I also had the opportunity to enjoy a drink right infront of the restaurant i was served but a young lady which was on point and she was very attentive. I have had the pleasure to go to many restaurant in new york city my experience tonight with the quality of the food and magnificent service is unsurpassed. I will definitely be going back and recommending to friends and family. I enjoyed eating at this old school italian family restaurant .
Vincent's brings you right back to the your first time your pop took you for baked clams, Calamari with Hot sauce and Scungilli the place stands the test of time the minute you walk in you remember the way it was....the way it tasted and the stories told. If you want the best Calamari & hot sauce the way it used to be, the way it should be, then you cannot pass up Vincent's it is still amazing!!!!!!!
We popped in and met the actual owners. It's a small world as they have ties to Tampa. The sauce is excellent. If you get a chance, try the "spicy " sauce. We really enjoyed our visit with Michael & lil Michael. We'll be back soon!
Absolutely love this place. The best food outside of Italy! Whenever I get a chance to fly in that's my first stop. I also bring a few jars home. Highly recommend the shrimp balls with the hot sauce ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Always delicious! My favorite is the shrimp and linguini with medium sauce. But they offer a variety of other dishes that are just as good. I've sampled a few! Love them so much I ordered their sauce.....it's the only jarred sauce I'll buy because it's worth it! Yum!
Traveled 1000 miles for food in Little Italy and found this place just walking by. We were the only ones there at 5pm on a Wednesday, but it was the best place I ate my whole time in NYC. The sauce for the pasta was phenomenal. Take my recommendation and get it medium or spicy. We also had a pizza that was exactly what I expected and wanted. They also have the best prices. Can't say I love it enough.
I've been eating Vincents fried calamari, shrimp and/or scungili with linguini topped with Vincents hot gravy ever since I was 10 years old. I'm 63 years old now. My dad would stop by Vincents on his way home and order it all to go. Dad was a foodie. He taught me to be a foodie too. Vincents is at the top of my favorite New York eats. Vincents is New York, and Little Italy. No other restaurant compares to these classic unique dishes. Vincents gravy is the most unique I've ever had and imo, the best. I'm thankful that they are still around so i can satisfy my cravings. The gravy is still the same. Thank you for not changing it. A loyal die hard thankful forever customer.
Have been dinning at this Vincent's for over 30yrs. This restaurant remains an absolute favorite of mine the food and service continues to be top notch. Customer traffic has fallen off since the era of covid which is very disappointing. Please stop by for a meal, and tell your friends about this classic New York Italian Restaurant. Let's help them to regain the customer base they once had.
Love this place! Have been here numerous times and it never disappoints. The sauce is the best in New York, I even always get a jar to go. Fresh food, friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!
You couldn't pick someone on the menu and go wrong! We had a large table and all picked something different. It was all amazing! They sat us right away and the service was quick and professional. High recommended!!
Wow. I have been coming here Since 1980 The best Calamari And the hot sauce incredible, All the foods are incredible. I never had a bad dish There. Are tradition is once 1212 Vincent's we go to Ferrara's bakery down the block. The best lobster tale. We come from New Jersey.
A classic. You can't go wrong eating a meal here. I must have been here a dozen times and have taken plenty of family here too. The service and food are always top notch.
Great old school place. Had the seafood salad. It's not on the menu anymore. I asked the waiter and he made it happen! Super delicious 😋
The rigatoni alla vodka and chicken rollatini were both very good. The pasta was nicely cooked. The portions are not oversized. It's cold in winter, expect to keep hats on.
My Family and I come here a lot, I took my wife here on our fist date and e very Feast of San Gennaro we come here to eat dinner but come early around 2pm and there is no wait. The food is amazing. I usually get Chicken Parm with Rigatoni and Vodka sauce. The staff are always so great. Always refilling water and taking empty plates away fast. In my honest opinion I do not think that any other place in Little Italy compares but I will let you be the judge of that.
Vincent's is a charming staple of Little Italy on the corner of Mott and Hester. Their hallmark red sauce is the focus of the meal -- it's delightfully sweet and comes in 3 spice levels (sweet, medium, hot). You can't go wrong with anything you order, it's all fantastic. Between the delicious food and the doting waitstaff, it's an experience that'll quickly become a tradition for you and your family. Highly recommended!
A Night Full of Flavor and Heart Dinner at Vincent’s 1904 with my husband and my stepdaughter’s boyfriend was a reminder that good food brings people closer. The sauce was rich, the seafood fresh, and the energy? Pure NYC charm. Sometimes, all you need is a cozy table, great company, and a meal made with love to feel recharged. Grateful for nights like these — full of laughter, stories, and seriously delicious bites.
The food is top notch, always. I highly recommend getting your favorite pasta in their famous sauce. And also, buy a jar or 2 of their sauce on the way out. The shrimp balls are huge and flavorful. The fried shrimp are perfectly lightly battered and delicious. We love ordering their "biscuits and gravy" always. This was our first time coming here with kids (three 6 year olds) and we got the pizza. It was delicious.
Grand meal, way too big but the intense flavours were incredible. We had appetizers, veal and chicken parma. We had two waiters, one who took the orders and another one who kept coming over to get our order and was surprised when we told him we already had lol. The food was piping hot and arrived quickly. Great meal in great company.
So awesome! Great prices, been coming here since the early 90's and it never disappoints. The sauce is amazing. My favorites are gnocchi, fried calamari and vincents original salad. They give you bread with dipping oil as you sit down. There is inside and outside seating. Go, you will not be disappointed.
Easy to see right off of Mott Street servicing Little Italy and the adjoining areas of Manhattan. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Reasonably priced. Great for red sauce dishes. Credit cards accepted. We will most likely be going back.
Food was good but I got the impression that regulars get bigger portions, plus better and more prompt service. (I say that based on a couple who sat near by.) Take my "take" for what it's worth and leverage the insight how ever you see fit. Great spaghetti sauce and the marsalla dishes are quite good. If you have a large group they have a larger vip room in the back that makes you feel like you're dining with the local "godfather" :)
The service and food were good, our table was self-selected, and the atmosphere was very nice. Prices were completely reasonable for Little Italy, and on the whole I was happy, except for the WARM Chianti, which felt like it had been sitting by an oven for 24 hours. For $9 a glass room temp isn't too much to ask for.
This Italian restaurant has been serving food since the early 1900's. I usually order one of the pasta dishes. I do not order shrimp, Mostly the chicken or beef dishes. The bread is delicious. Wine is good. The service has always been excellent. Prices are expensive.
I must say the food is delicious. There sauce taste so good that you could even buy some and take it home with you. My only draw back is that they do not serve any alchohol. My wife and I always love having some wine with our food. If they would allow BYOB it would be perfect! Lol. Regardless I feel the food is good enough to come back here and enjoy.
The outside area was updated and looked nice, but it was a little too hot for me (some other people chose to sit out). The staff was welcoming, I always had water and a full drink, and my eggplant parmesan was so good - the eggplant was done right and the medium red sauce was perfect. I got two personal pizzas to bring home for everyone else. We agreed the taste wasn't impressive. I should've brought home two eggplant parms instead.
Server was good and quirky in a good way. Had no problem acting himself which was refreshing. Spicy marinara sauce was delicious and I would highly recommend it. The bread was different with toasted sesane bread; had a classic flavor.
We were looking for authentic Italian. They have a limited menu, which is fine, but on this day they were out of Linguine- which is about half the menu. The other pasta they have is rigatoni. I had the rigatoni with vodka sauce. It was pretty good. My son had rigatoni with rabe and “sausage” but very little sausage was used and his portion size seemed small for the price. He complained a lot why did I choose this restaurant when we could’ve eaten anywhere in Little Italy.
Even though they were super crowded due to the San Gennaro's feast crowd, the service and the food were great! For appetizers we had fried calamari but we rather have them more on the crispy side but they still tasted very good! As for dinner, we had chicken Marsala, Chicken Parm and the Rigatoni with vodka sauce, and a side of meatballs. Everything was delicious! Next time we go back to little Italy, we will eat there again. Ciao for now!♥️
Went with wife last weekend for a meal food was good nice quiet vibe staff pleasant would come again.
It's a great place with lots of tradition and the food is really good and reasonably priced
Iconic restaurant. Ordered shrimp and calamari And they gave me all tentacles as I asked for!!! The best part of the calamari.!!! Classic mild sauce with a side of medium. would have given 5 stars if I didn't have to listen to the cake showcase loud vibration. I wanted the old school Italian songs.
The real deal. The sauce is delicious. First timers from California & loved it. I had cheese ravioli with vodka sauce. Raviolis were cooked to perfection & I can’t express how amazing the sauce was. Service was good both waiters were very attentive. Other dishes included chicken parm, baked ziti, chicken rigatoni with vodka sauce, veil parm, salmon, arugula salad, Vincent’s salad, & Cesar salad. Wine was delicious. Ambiance is outdated.
Medium and Hot Sauce is still so delicious. Restaurant is good but seems to be happy with just trying to survive. Need to give the NY customers something more attractive than the other restaurants in your area.
My first encounter with Vincent's was in their Long Island branch. I was wowed by that branch's clams in white sauce linguine so I finally decided to bring my out of state friends to Little Italy's Vincent's for lunch. It was extremely quiet on a weekday. The interior is vintagey and has a nice vibe. We ordered eggplant parm and the clams in white sauce linguine and essentially oily garlic bread. We ordered the garlic bread because in the long island branch, they served bread at the table with herbs in oil. I really wanted them to try it I thought it would be the next best thing, but I was wrong. The garlic bread was hard and crunchy and there was oil oozing out of every bite. The clams in the clam linguine were medium-sized which meant they were tougher to chew and to eat. They did not have any clam flavor to them. The white sauce did not have that much flavor either. The one in long island used small clams and they had the sweet seafood flavor. The eggplant parm, however, was really good. It was soft and the pasta was perfect. I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong items or if it was just a bad day, but I might come back to try something new.
Great bread warm, crusty and chewy. Clams, ceasar salad, bruschetta, red sauce were all top notch. Atmosphere was mediocre. They had a radio station playing pop rock and tables felt like a cafeteria. Service was so so.
Food was amazing and staff were extremely friendly but they left me sitting in the back freezing for 15-20 minutes after my meal was done while tending to larger groups. Tried flagging them several times. Ambience nice and festive but too cold in there!
My party cruised through Little Italy for other places (after our original plans were nixed) but this spot was our last resort since there wasn't a wait. The food was sub par but the service staff was very attentive. In particular the garlic bread was more oily than flavorful and the Fettuccine Alfredo was more soupy than thick or hearty. The eggplant parmesan was surprisingly good but still a bit greasy. Every spot has off days so maybe someone else will enjoy it.
The staff is AMAZING. The shrimp balls are AMAZING. The entrees are GREAT. When you're done with your entree and think you have room for dessert... especially when they bring out that amazing platter of beautiful italian sweets, do NOT give in. I ordered the eclair... it had easily been sitting out for days. The whipped cream on top was HARD and the eclair itself was super dry (almost stale). I would definitely recommend the place for the appetizers and entrees alone, but the dessert was just disappointing.
Food was decent but drinks are extremely small. Like 4 ounces small. Took 2 sips of my $14 espresso martini and it was gone. For the $140 meal for two, would have expected better quality all around. Not great.
Definitely not the same Vincents that's on Long Island.
So I sort of dug the old school Italian look inside but also could be considered outdated. I started with oysters and I couldn’t understand where he said they were from but they were not the best. The other food that came out was good but nothing special. Service was pretty fast until they became a little busier. My drink was small but good. Nothing to be wowed about but was easy to get into on a Friday night.
Iconic, yes. Authentic Italian food, definitely. Pricey, service is OK, just OK. Seems like they cater to their regular high end patrons, which is FINE, just don't ignore the "average joes"...been around foreva in the heart of Little Italy. Went once, enjoyed my Rigatoni & broccoli rabe except for TONS of garlic. Too much in my opinion. My American dinner companion wasn't as happy with his meal. (So used to commercial Italian food) I went, I saw, no more!
So get this. We were so exited for a great dinner in New York. We sit and place our order for the Veal that we were so craving. We were 7. I think 6 of us got the veals. Anyway we were siting there enjoying the anti pasti for at least 40 minute. Then server comes to us and tells us they are sorry but they have NO veal. AFTER an hour. So we ordered pizza. It was great. But ruined the night. Ths server was so embarresed. I felt for him. But the owner or manager who was right there didn't say a thing. So sad. Such a nice place. But they do no wrong. Was our fault I guess. Heard its a great place. Just not our day, I guess.
I went there with my family and friends for dinner. We went there and we ordered a few things. It took a while for it to come. The food was not the best. However, the food did look good. I had a Chicken Parmesan and the cheese was not the best because it did not really taste like cheese and the sauce were just to sweet. One of my family members got Meatballs with Linguine. He said “The meatballs tasted more like falafels and the sauce taste like ketchup”. Overall I’d only go when I am around the area this is more like a tourist attraction place.
My experience started out fantastic many options, decent prices, and a great spot in NYC to grab a bite. I attempted to order the gnocchi Parmesan and they told me they were out... something that should be mentioned upon entry. Next I go to substitute my pasta ( linguine) for fettuccini, and my tomato sauce for vodka sauce. The waiter had mentioned that they do not sub out orders to that degree... seems like a simple request to me. Not some where that is very inviting and the food was not New York quality. Proceed with caution.
Excellent food bursting with flavor, but horrid service. Our group of 3 waited an hour after finishing for the check after asking 2 different waiters and the manager. The waiters literally ignored our request and were playing on their phones right next to the dining room. No apology was given to us upon the check finally arriving.
Being a regular of the Vincents of Long Island, I was expecting a typical amazing dinner/experience. Sadly, the little Italy location is NOTHING at all like the Carl place restaurant. Food was simply basic, boring decor and atmosphere and below average service/management. They didn't even serve Penne !(really???) would not recommend.
Perhaps the regular cooks weren't working bc it's the weekend of the San Gennaro Feast. We ordered calamari which was mediocre. My husband had linguini w/white clam sauce which he said was pretty good - nicely cooked al dente. I had the veal parmigiano which was probably the worst I've ever had in my life. It was a super thick piece of veal (rather than pounded thin) and the cheese was cold and not melted. Really bad food - had no choice but to send it back. Hopefully, it was one of those rare bad meals, but we won't be returning. Fortunately, the server was great, took it away and removed it from our bill.
This is NOT the Vincent's of the 80's and 90's!!! The food can barely pass as high school cafeteria slop. The restaurant is dirty and too hot. Service is fair at best. An awful dining experience at exorbitant prices. The decay of this establishment over the past 40 years is a travesty.
From a European perspective, it was the worst dinner in NY. The pasta was so oiled, the shrimp too spicy. We haven’t finished the dishes.
Stay away from this place. By far the worst service I ever received. We ordered our main course and after waiting 45 minutes we never received it. However, several people ordered after us and received their food. Asked for the waiter and bus boy said he’s busy. Paid for our appetizers and left. Do not patronize this restaurant. A million other restaurants in the area that will satisfy your cravings.
I have been going to Vincent's for nearly 30 years. I never saw such a small portion of a double order of steamed calamari. It wasn't even the size of a regular order the last time I visited. Now I know why the restaurant was empty on a Saturday night.
If there is a worse place to eat Italian food I would be surprised I've eaten your Vincent since I was a teenager in the 1960s I returned there a couple of times to find their food sometimes better than others but today the food reach the status of inedible everything was frozen the sauce was awful the bread was the cheapest bread they could possibly buy served with frozen butter the mozzarella that was advertised as fresh what is fresh back in the year it was made. I got there I saw that the entire restaurant was empty while all the other Italian restaurants in Little Italy were busy I did come to understand the reason why just by choosing it as the place I would eat. STAY AWAY
Repulsive, disgusting, sickening. Oysters were inedibly past date. Frutti di mare was nasty, cold, inedible. There were only two other people here on a Friday night at dinner, and they said the place used to be good but seemed similarly disgusted. Look at the pictures people are posting - does that glazy cheese and neon red sauce look anything other than vomitorious?
This place is not what it was in the past ! Very disappointed food quality was very poor. Meatball tasted like old meat . The Fra Diavolo did not have the combination of seafood, no shrimp ,mostly all calamari , a few clams , mussels where not edible! I can not see them staying in business . Wait staff was good ,but food was bad !
I'm still depressed at the fact I spent over $50 on two margherita pizzas and an order of calamari. Nothing had flavor and it was overpriced. The calamari came drenched in sauce and with some dough ball. From the pic you can see how white it is. No seasoning. Not even in the sauce. The pizza also had no flavor. My kids ate some because they were starving but preferred to eat the crust over the actual pizza. Service wasn't bad. It wasn't great either. This place was full of NYPD, FDNY, sanitation etc employees. You can tell the people that frequented here have been coming since the beginning of time. Maybe during that time the food had flavor. But, alas, the kitchen may have run out of spices. I grieve now for the hard earned money that went down the drain with this meal.
