Amazing customer service! Ivan and Anna were so helpful with my order. This is my go to location
Neighborhood gem. Can't express the amount of attention the wait staff and owners gave me. The restaurant was a bit busy but everyone received individual attention as though no one else was around. The food is amazing and fresh and the bartender is now one of my favorite people in LA. She made my custom drink to perfection on her very 1st try. This will be my go hangout when I visit my Dad from now on.
The HMS Bounty was a cool little place. dark inside, but fit for the theme. Steak and lobster tail was really good, porterhouse steak with potatoes and veggies hit the spot. Started with some bread, calamari, and wifey got a mai tai. Overall a really good experience.
Classic Old Los Angeles hiding in plain sight: cavernous, dim, wood-soaked, and gloriously crusty, a bar that hums with old jukebox ghosts, spilled secrets, and that eternal L.A. night hawk vibe where nothing’s polished and everything’s lived in. Not for the fickle or finicky folks. Just the way I like it though. 🍻
Small bar and restaurant. No parking. Gotta park by 85 degree bakery. It’s connected to Gaylord apartments. Bathroom is through the door into the apartment lobby down in the laundry room basement. Make reservations for parties of 4 or more on the weekend. Will get loud. Food is priced well. Drinks are good. @ninjaxfang
Unlike any other place in LA, a true classic and slice of LA history. Come for the $20 steak, stay for the $9 martinis. It's the opposite of cool. No hipsters. No polished and trendy everything. Just sit down, and have a jolly good time catching up with a pal.
I love this place! Nayeli is a wonderful bartender and Alice, Leslie and Mildred are wonderful. I’ve never had an interaction with the staff that wasn’t friendly and amazing. Best neighborhood spot ever cheap, great vibe!
Highly recommend! One of my new favorite spots in LA Absolutely great chocolate martini, impulsive order, turned out fantastic. Fish and chips! Divine! Cesar salad: crispy, cold, plenty of dressing!! I really enjoyed going here. Will be returning often. Local spot, long time standing. Fantastic service, taste and price.
I've dined here several times, and each visit has been enjoyable. The food is fresh, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. My favorite dishes were the calamari and cheesecake, which they make fresh on-site. (What restaurant even does that nowadays?) The chefs clearly prioritize quality in every dish they serve. The service is exceptional; if you request Johnny as your waiter, he might even delight you with an a magic trick that will leave you in awe.
Classic spot and community staple. Always a great time and waits for tables aren’t very even during peak hours. Food is always adequate. Had an incident with a slight overcharge —was my fault for scrambling the waitress with multiple tabs started at the bar and then transferred to the table but the issue was promptly resolved.
This restaurant is attached to The Gaylord and seating is usually for 2 to 4 people. This a place where friends of all ages meet no matter how many feet they have in the grave 🤣 Extensive affordable drink menu. We had the sea bass and fish & chips The French fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The sea bass was dry and bland but the veggies were good.
Come here for the reasonably priced steaks. I had filet mignon which was perfectly medium well done. The meat was soft and easy to cut. The shrimp scampi here isn’t bad. The salad was fresh. The mashed potatoes were good. However, the corn was strange. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like my peach pie either. The bread pudding is house made. It was just ok. Kind of dry. I also ordered a glass of Pinot noir which was fine. At the bar there were regulars and this place can get packed because of its popularity.Service is very polite and friendly. We sat in a booth which was kind of tight and hard to get out of lol. Like I said come here for the steaks and you won’t be disappointed. Meter parking.
One of the nicest dive bars I've been to. The ambiance is great! Very old school. They did was good and the drinks were even better. You can get a Wise guy drink special of a can of beer and a shot for $6. The menu had everything from broiled pork chops to lobster tails and the prices are really reasonable. I will definitely be coming back.
A restaurant that feels so secretive that it feels like a place to eat for a mafia boss. Moody light and furniture that comes from early 1900’s for the perfect atmosphere to enjoy some Italian dishes. A chicken Pam goes for 14$ and yet, it feels like a plate for 18$. The vegetables were steamed wonderfully with a moist piece of chicken. However, the chicken wasn’t crisp and the spaghetti was quite bland but, the sauce carried it. Came in a group of 7 and for those that ordered the chicken Alfredo the pasta was thick but, the sauce was said to be lack luster. Even with these faults the food was wonderful and I extremely recommend to come here for dinner 100%!
This was my first time dining at HMS Bounty, and unfortunately, it will be my last. When I walked in, I loved the speakeasy-style vibe and was excited to try it out. However, the service set the tone for a disappointing experience. As soon as I sat at the bar, the bartender’s greeting felt unwelcoming, almost as if I didn’t belong there. While I had to ask if they even served food, guests who came in after me were greeted more warmly and offered drinks right away. I ordered the lentil soup and the baseball steak (medium rare) with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The bartender checked in only once, about 20 minutes into my meal, and overall her attentiveness and hospitality were lacking. The food itself was underwhelming, bland, unseasoned, and definitely not worth returning for. What could have been a pleasant first experience was overshadowed by poor service and mediocre food. While the atmosphere and background music is nice, I can’t recommend HMS Bounty based on my visit. 2/5 stars.
I have came here multiple occasions. The service used to be good but this time around it was just awful.I waited an hour to receive my food when the waitress said 20 minutes. The strawberry lemonade and fountain sodas were super mid with no flavor at all just water down. I always tip at any restaurant I go to depending on the service. So I decided to not tip since the service was horrible and not only that I got 2 drinks that are supposed to be 4 dollars each and they charged me an extra 3 dollars on drinks not explaining why.Once’s I left the restaurant the lady came running out the door towards me saying “where’s my tip I need 15%or 20%” being super hostile and rude. I responded with I’m sorry but the service was horrible and had to wait a hour to get food when it wasn’t busy at all.Her running out the door was just the cherry on top to never come here again.Just super unprofessional and rude.
*Extremely unsafe, deceptive, and hostile place. Avoid. Our group was charged an undisclosed service charge with a non‑itemized handwritten bill. There was no notice posted, and they still left a tip line on the card receipt, clearly attempting to double‑dip tips. When I calmly questioned the charge, staff tried to forcibly take and destroy the receipt. The owner then escalated the situation: he raised his hand as if to hit me, verbally abused me, and made a threatening gesture mimicking a gun to his head while saying words to the effect of “you’ll get shot.” I felt genuinely unsafe. This was not a misunderstanding—this was intimidation and a threat. I have video and photo evidence. Deceptive billing + attempted evidence destruction + violent threats = do not go here!!! “The tequila tasted increasingly watered down—as if more diluted with each round. Also, avoid ordering double shots. When poured into a single straight shot glass, it only looked like a shot and a half. Definitely not worth the extra price.”
