Low key and delightful hidden gem in Amarillo. ALLERGEN FRIENDLY. The food is delightfully fresh and tastes amazing. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Funky and delicious! Exceptional baked goods . Bacon all day(especially the jalapeño). Souffle pancakes , are you kidding me , Devine! Will definitely return next time I'm back in Amarillo.
Amazing little cafe. Everything I've had has been excellent, but my go-to is the breakfast croissant with bacon and over easy or sunny side up eggs. I take the top off and eat it open-faced so I can finish it and not get full on the bread. Their baked goods are fantastic! It's a nice place but it's very small. Sometimes seating can be an issue, especially in the winter when the cute little outdoor section is closed.
Found this hidden gem through Google maps. Cute little cafe and bakery. I tried the French toast with jalapeno bacon. It was delicious and very filling! The jalapeno bacon has a bite to it as I expected. The coffee is good. The baked goods look wonderful, I took a Love bar to go (I'm sure it's very yummy, too). I'll definitely have to come back to try some of the other pastries and food! Sweet place, but you'd never find it if you didn't know it was there.
Funky little liberal-feeling cafe with super friendly staff and the best croissants I've ever tasted! Great vegetarian quiche with fresh fruit (NOT the usual underripe honeydew and cantaloupe!), green salad, and roasted sweet potato salad. Cup of fried cottage potatoes. Delicious coffee and fresh, cold, clean ice water. All scarfed down too fast to take pix! Nice little patio to augment the inside dining. I'm If we lived in TX this would be a regular stop for us, for sure!
I had the chicken fried shiitake mushroom sandwich special. It had a ginger glaze with a touch of spice that was fantastic! This was my first time here and I will definitely return. The watermelon iced tea was perfect with my meal. My sister’s bierox was yummy and the bread was so good! The dill chicken salad was different from what I am used to, but it was fresh and tasty and I would order it again. Looking forward to trying other items.
We LOVE to stop by Cafe Girasol when we pass through Amarillo. It’s a top notch breakfast establishment. Every single item on the menu has been delicious! From sweet cinnamon rolls to savory huevos rancheros to French toast to Greek salad. We love sitting on their cozy patio. If you get lucky, their very well-fed cat, HR, will visit you and ask for a petting tax. We highly recommend this place and commend the owners and employees of Cafe Girasol on such a well run restaurant! Thank you!!
I ordered a vegan strawberry cake for my daughter's birthday. She hates icing, so I requested just a light glaze. The cake was amazing! Had fresh strawberries and a wonderful very light glaze. I'm not a cake eater, but this was delicious. The best cake I've ever eaten from a bakery! And was beautiful! The three of us ate all of it within 2 days!
Good healthy, fresh options. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters. Daily specials. To go orders. Different in a good way from all the usual fare in Amarillo. I was disappointed in the quinoa bowl. It's more like a bunch of grilled vegetables with a couple of tablespoons of quinoa sprinkled on top.
Passing through Amarillo on our way to Colorado. We stopped here for breakfast and was delighted by the friendly staff and delicious French toast and coffee. Their house made sausage was also delicious! They have a neat patio area that would be a great place to have breakfast had the weather been a bit cooler.
I've eaten here twice while in Amarillo to visit my Dad. Loved Tom he avocado toast combo my first time❣️second visit was eggs, bacon no potatoes. I've since given up carbs so this time ita going to be the omlette....
This place is a gem of Amarillo. It’s adorable, welcoming and feels like I’m stepping into the early 2000’s with the decorations. The staff feels welcoming and you can tell they really work as a team and acknowledge each other. The outdoor seating makes you feel like you’re not in the city. Thank you for having gluten free options- the gluten-free biscuits & gravy were among the best Iv ever had! The homemade sausage- a real surprise as how rich and deep the flavor was. Hats off to the chef & owner. Will be returning. Couldn’t give this place enough praise.
This is a locally owned cafe with some of the best breakfast I have ever had. Their bakery items are homemade. Great coffee. I ordered the avocado toast and the veggies quiche. Both were amazing and served with a kale salad and fresh fruit. The pancakes are tasty and healthy. All outstanding. Great service and good atmosphere too. OKC doesn't have a place I've found that compares. We planned a 2nd breakfast after the first was so amazing when we drove back through Amarillo.
Hands down the best brunch in Amarillo. The coffee was good. The atmosphere was light and comfortable (don't be fooled by the fact that it's in the same building as a convenience store). Such a cute place. I had the Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast. It's the first time I've ever had biscuits and gravy that rivals homemade. The biscuits had the perfect texture (not dry), and I think had jalapeño and cheddar in them. The sausage was unique and delicious. My husband had the smothered green chile breakfast burrito. It was good too! They were steadily busy with almost every table full while we were there (families, elderly, young couples, etc.), so we knew it had to be good when we walked in. Plus, we had seen all the stellar reviews online. We weren't disappointed! We'll be back!
We just ate breakfast here this morning as we were passing through Amarillo headed west. Decided to go here based on Google and TripAdvisor recommendations. We totally agree with the four and five star ratings and plan to make this "our place" for breakfast whenever we are near.
Stopped in on a road trip for breakfast. So glad we did! Insanely good food. Light and fluffy French toast. Jalapeño bacon!? My wife had the avocado toast, looked great and she raved about it. Nice folks, too.
What a diamond in the rough. This place is behind a gas station and tough to see from the street. This is a great mom-and-pop, small, but quaint restaurant with artisan scratch-made muffins and cinnamon rolls. The French toast was 5 stars. Fluffy and thick bread but tender and an excellent texture and chew. The burrito had an excellent presentation with a really good green chile. The burrito tortilla was a bit much and very filling so I put a good bit of it to the side to get to the scrambled eggs inside. Also seen is a breakfast burrito with avocado and it was excellent also. The multi-grain pancake is a go-to also. It was very good. The orange juice was 5 star as well.
Great experience and great food! We are passing through Amarillo to CO. I quickly Googled "gluten free" (unfortunately not an option for us). It was the first option that popped up in the area. They were so kind and the gluten free biscuits and gravy was awesome and so was the gluten free cinnamon roll. We were too late for breakfast and missed the pancakes. :( The employees were kind and food great! Hidden gem vibes for sure!
This place is a hidden gem in Amarillo. The bakery items are amazing and the menu is creative. The food quality is not too be matched in this area. This is not your typical panhandle eatery. Don't be thrown by the fact that it is next door to a Valero gas station. It is cute and welcoming. If you love food, give it a try.
Delicious huevos rancheros, avocado toast, kale salad, and potatoes. The patio in the morning is magical: breezy, full of sunflowers and the sound of wind chimes and a trickling fountain. Bonus points for the friendly black cat who hangs out there. He was so sweet. The people who worked there were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
If you’re from out of town, try this place. This is a reliably great breakfast spot. Good quality, well prepared, and the people take pride in what they prepare and serve. It can get a little crowded but things move quickly.
What a place! Had the sausage green chile and cheddar quiche with kale salad... awesome. Good coffee and drinks. Great indoor and outdoor space to eat. Fun listening to the baking crew doing their thing.
Delicious breakfast and one of the best french toast ive ever had. Everything we order was great you wont go wrong with anything.
Just the best, most delicious homemade food for sale here in Amarillo. They also have the best staff. Thank you Katie, Madison, Emily, Steve and Mckaylee (sorry if i misspelled your name). With fantastic people serving you, its makes life that much enjoyable. Hey, dont take my word for it. Go try the food yourself!
I live in Austin and came here to get coffee for the road but saw a lady in the dining area with an omelette on her plate so I ordered one to go. It was called the PANHANDLE! It was SO flippin’ yummy! The man with the quirky and fancy eye glasses helped me at the counter and he was so nice. No fancy coffee but that is perfectly fine he had a drip coffee from New Mexico that was FABULOUS! I highly recommend this coffee shop for breakfast and brunch! My omelette was delicious and coffee was too! This is a warm and welcoming cafe. Today is August 25, 2025 Monday morning.
First time trying. It was a little strange for a sit down restaurant to not have wait staff but the food didn’t disappoint. I had the Girasol omelet with jalapeño bacon. It was delicious. They have unique lemonade choices on tap and citrus infused water which were both very good. Love the local vibe.
Oh my gosh, do yourself a favor and order the french toast! It's so fluffy and delicious. Seriously I don't even understand how they got it so fluffy. So good, the syrup is tasty. My husband got the jalapeno bacon which was very good (not too spicy, just a good kick). Coffee is also delicious. The staff is super friendly absolutely love all the sunflowers! A must stop.
The breakfast was so amazing from the omelette to the pastries to the coffee. Everything was so fresh, high quality and delicious! Next time we come back through Amarillo, we will definitely stop by!
Quality "home cooked" but better dishes - great menu. Laid back, relaxed environment. Wonderful wait staff.
We stopped here on our way home from Santa Fe to Frisco, Texas based on the reviews. Had an excellent breakfast. We were about 3 hours from Amarillo when I realized I had left my purse in the restaurant. Called immediately and they said they had it. Too late to turn around and go back because they were closing in an hour. Gave nice young man my information and he said he would inform the owner, Jessica. I emailed Jessica to ask if she would Fed Ex the purse to me and I would reimburse her for the shipping and pay a reward. She replied that the purse would be shipped to me, and no reimbursement or reward was necessary. I received my purse three days later with everything intact. We appreciate the great service and honesty of Jessica and her team. I did send a thank you card, reimbursement and a reward. if you are ever in Amarillo, stop by this great Cafe and Bakery - Food and staff are great. Darlene and Richard Dunstan
One of my new favorite places to drop by for lunch. You can always find a delicious salad. I like that they use fresh ingredients. I wish their Bakery items were sugar and gluten free. It's wonderful to bake with maple syrup and blackstrap molasses brown coconut sugar etc etc. Almond flour and coconut flour make great desserts! And none of this spikes your blood sugar! That is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5-star rating. The people Who work there are amazing and very helpful and very friendly people.
Truly a hidden gem! Definitely did not expect this in Amarillo 🙈 tasty - wow! Tasty and healthy? Yes!! 🙌🏻 coffee almost ruined the experience, but food was delicious and that did it for me :)
Parking can be very hard so keep that in mind as the lot is small and the other parking is for the RV place. The Avocado toast is great, just wish they’d toast it more or some at least. It was so good nonetheless I like how it is two slices and comes in two different ways also the small salad it comes with is great nice and different. The small kolache was great all of the staff were super nice great ran establishment. Breakfast stops at 11 I don’t know but they were nice enough to still serve me but I know now thank you guys!
I am restricted to low carbs but my omelet was delicious with the green chili sauce. Even though I couldn’t have the bakery options, I am sure they were as tasty as they were beautiful. Highly recommend that you support this local bakery! Next time I come through Amarillo , I surely will.
Recommend for breakfast or even just coffee and a baked good. Kind of easy to miss as it's a bit back away from the road; just turn as if you're going to the Shell station and you'll see it behind to the side. It's cafe/diner style, so you order and pay for your food at the front, then seat yourself; don't forget to grab silverware from the table in the corner too. The staff is very friendly and open to conversation - I guess you could call it southern hospitality. The food is definitely better than your standard fare, the French toast is above average and the eggs are fresh cooked. The bacon was the most surprising - I think they might use jerky seasoning, and they have specialty jalapeno bacon that was just way too spicy for me. I couldn't stomach it, but there's no denying that it was high quality. They only serve regular house coffee (nothing fancy like lattes such) but the house coffee tastes great. They provide real half & half, which is an awesome break from all the fake crap. Another nice perk here is their lemon infused water, which I was informed they use fresh lemons from Arizona to prepare. No sweetener in it so it's just a straight refreshing citrus taste. I arrived right when they opened so no telling how busy they are throughout the day, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are, especially on Saturdays. Definitely recommend, perfect for dates and quiet meet-ups.
This place is a hidden gem! Sits behind a gas station but don't let that fool you, they are throwing down some delicious fresh awesomeness. So much to try, the French toast was yummy, blueberry scone my wife loved, and the breakfast croissant sandwich was amazing. The counter help is friendly, so glad we found this spot when traveling through Amarillo, we had to hit it up every time we went through here.
Girasol Cafe and Bakery is a must go too place for breakfast and lunch. The coffee is hot and the food is always fresh. Hardest part is just finding a seat to sit due to high customer volume. Once settled in its cozy and worth every penny.
Food was yummy!! Loved the breakfast quiche! (minus the sweet crust). The French toast was yummy too. Kids menu were great for them and pancakes were very yummy! I would totally go back next time in town!
Food was fresh and delicious. The quiche was delicious. Very creamy! Came with a fresh salad, kale salad with squash and fruit. The kids meal was perfect for my kiddo. The bakery treats were amazing. Definitely pick a bakery treat.
Gluten free girlie, here. Stopped here for breakfast on my way across the country and it was PHENOMENAL. Cute atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff. Enjoyed everything I purchased. The Gluten Free Biscuits and Gravy was AMAZING. My friend and traveling with me had the Southwest Benedict and she said it was fantastic as well. Even purchased come goodies to continue on the road with me and they all tasted amazing. Can’t wait to be able to go back!! Kind of wishing they would ship some of their goodies. I would absolutely pay for it. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
10 STARS Off the charts honestly the most flavorful fresh food, hands down unbeatable. Service was above and beyond. French toast was best we have had, Jalepano bacon, housemade breakfast sausage was so good we had to order frozen sausage to go. Omlet wonderful with fried potatoes. Atmosphere was nice and easy to hear each other talk, with the normal wonderful cafe noises. Price does not matter, when the food is at this quality. Best experience, we are upset we did not go years earlier. Wheel chair accessibility. Plenty of elbow room and low tables if needed also an outdoor patio. Pinion coffee was a pleasant surprise. We did not have to wait but it does get busy at high times.
An awesome breakfast place. The French toast was too die for. They give you a small amount of syrup but you don't need more. More syrup would take away the flavor. The eggs are Fluffy and delicious. And love there home made salsa. Thank you staff. Only suggestion is change sign at door to state order at counter seat yourself.
discovered this place by luck looked it up. the next time I was in the area I stopped in for breakfast. its a nice place not only a restaurant but a bakery as well. waited in line and ordered my breakfast i had the sausage egg and cheese croissant. it was made with housemade sausage and the croissant was baked fresh it was absolutely delicious almost ordered a second. the only draw back was their popularity it was packed. the wait was a bit long but worth it. looking for great breakfast this is the spot.
Such a cute restaurant with excellent food. Had the Southern Belle, large cinnamon roll, and biscuits with gravy, eggs, homemade breakfast sausage. Very friendly staff who checked on us several times as even asked how we liked the breakfast potatoes since it was a new item. So much food we had to take the cinnamon roll to go and they gave us extra frosting! Highly recommend Girasol Cafe and Bakery.
I went here based on the ratings and it was wonderful. I had the French toast with eggs and homemade sausage. It was incredible. While there, I met a nice lady who frequented the place and she suggested I try their huge croissant and their “love bar”. Both of these were divine. The location is tucked behind a Toot N Totem, but once you find it, you will want to keep coming back.
Discovered this place in August 2025 and it is definitely an Amarillo Treasure. The food is Delicious and the service is Spectacular. The Breakfast Burrito, Bacon Omelet, and Eggs Your Way meals are all Outstanding and the pastry selection is a taste of Heaven. Highly Recommend to anyone traveling through Amarillo!!
O.M.G. this place was sooooo good. My foodie belly was so impressed and happy. Everything homemade, green chili biscuits melt in your mouth 👄...the brunch burger is to die for. It's like the good, old local cafe we've all been waiting for with bustling local families and good vibes, food served with a smile. It is so hard to find places like this with a lot of heart and DELICIOUS food. What a gem in Amarillo! We will be back. 🤤 Update! Just visited again and got the treasure of meeting the owner Jessica this time. She and her cafe are still consistently incredible. Had a mouthwatering almond croissant straight from the oven. Thank you, Jessica and team!! Favorite spot on the way up to the mountains
Great place for breakfast!! Everything is made fresh. Their croissant sandwiches are made with croissants that are clearly fresh baked. The green chili in my breakfast burrito was fresh and definitely not from a can! They do so well with the little details. My family and I will definitely be back!!
What a gem in Amarillo! This was our first visit and we were very pleased. We came for lunch and ordered a burger and kid's meals. The price for the kid's meals was definitely great value, around $5.50 and quite nutritious. The burger was a unique flavor and delicious! Customer service was top-notch, we felt well-attended to while also could continue with our conversation. A very positive experience!
First time in. Breakfast is all day on the weekend. The pastries immediately caught my eye. You walk up to the counter to place your order first. Pour your own drink and grab your silverware. Head to the table with a number, and they'll bring your order out to you. Husband had the Big Kahuna. He said he'd definitely order it again. Hearty and tasty but no guilt with the kale sweet potato salad on the side. 😆 I got the Santa Fe Eggs Benedict. I requested no bacon, but they ended up having to make me a new plate. No problem. It was great once I finally got it but I would probably try the French toast next time. It's a small dining area so may be difficult for a big group to get seated on a Saturday but they do have some outdoor seating.
This place is a little small and it's it's busy here at least on the weekend when I came. And they're busy for a reason. The food and coffee was great. Just very fresh ingredients and the pie was perfect. Not overly sweet and just right!! It's in order at the counter kind of place and then they serve it to you and they find your number at your table. I got the last table in the place, so you may want to expect possibly waiting for a seat. More than half the seating was outside but the atmosphere was great. A cat was visiting outside and this is simply a nice and relaxing place to be.
The atmosphere had a homely feel to it that transferred to their food. Their French toast was the best that we've had, with the taste of homemade bread making it stand out along with the balance of egg and bread. Despite being short staffed, we waited on promptly and had a great attitude. Overall, it was a good experience.
This is a fantastic place to get brunch! We've been here twice now with more plans to return! Everything we've had has been very flavorful. First time here, I got the special that day which I believe was a corned beef hash. One of the best I've had! Everything tasted super fresh. FRENCH TOAST was super thick, cooked to perfection, and the syrup was the perfect addition without being ridiculously sweet. The sausage had a very good amount of spice. Much spicier then you're average sausage! EGGS YOUR WAY was that classic simple breakfast and the potatoes were great! BALI BREAKFAST TACOS were amazing! Good portions and fresh, clean tasting food that is full of flavor. The New Mexico green chiles take shine in this dish. ...and the coffee tastes great! You should try this place if you haven't been here yet. Totally worth it!
Great little cafe. Full breakfasts and fantastic pastries. Avocado toast was sublime, sausage and egg croissant was tasty, and biscuit and gravy was good. Sunday morning, so very busy. Cute outdoor patio, but it was cold so sat inside. Service is a little slow on busy mornings and have limited indoor seating - we stood to wait for a table, but got one before our food was ready, so it worked out ok. Only serve plain coffee, which was good, but no espresso drinks.
Enjoyed breakfast here with a friend of mine. They dont have an extensive menu but what the do have is delicious! My toast was made from fresh baked bread and my jalapeno bacon definitely had that hot pepper kick. Im giving this a 4⭐ for now but since they are still experimenting and expandung their offerings im sure they'll earn a 5⭐ from me soon.
On our trip from Paradise into a black hole (Denver), we stopped here for breakfast...to go. It's in an older building, but they keep it clean. Sunflowers are their jam...they even have some growing outside. Their outdoor eating area is nice. Boss lady and I got the breakfast croissant sandwiches (ham and bacon, respectively), which came with potatoes. Mini Boss lady opted for their ham breakfast sandwich, which she said was very tasty. The coffee was just Ok, not a fan of flavored coffee. If you call yourself a Cafe, you should be making To Order coffee. At least the cashier told us where to get better joe. Great joint for breakfast, y'all need to eat here!
This restaurant is connected to the back of a gas station, but the decor is nice and once you're inside you'd never know. The food was pretty good, but the wait for our food was long. It was a busy Sunday morning though. This is definitely a nice brunch spot! The French toast was amazing!
I visited Girasol Cafe and Bakery for breakfast. It's an adorable local restaurant. In addition to breakfast and lunch, they offer a variety of baked goods. (The almond scones looked delicious.) I had the French toast with jalapeño bacon and eggs scrambled with cheese. I highly recommend the jalapeño bacon. I really like the French toast. I was not a fan of the scrambled eggs texture or taste. I like both the indoor and outdoor dining areas. The staff is friendly. My cousin and I had a pleasant dining experience, so I'll definitely be back.
We really loved eating here. The French toast is amazing. The pastries are delicious & have several things to choose from. I wish they were open later, we live almost 2 hours away & have a hard time getting there before 2:30. Perfect place for brunch or even just a stop for desserts & coffee with some friends.
This was my first visit. That being said I wanted to be able to give a rave review. However, being that and getting the wrong meat on sandwich didn't leave that 4 star review possible. They did fix the sandwich but by the time it was fixed which wo problem they corrected, my company had already finished their meal. (No reason for my company to eat cold food while I waited for fix) Leaving me to eat alone and experience of first zapped. At 15 dollars a sandwich I'd think right would be firstly most important. Staff was very friendly, no complaints much praise there. Mistakes happen I get that. But first impressions matter.
First of all, you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table, which isn't my favorite. I was really disappointed because this place has such high reviews, so maybe I caught them on a bad day. I had green chili chicken enchiladas, and except for the taste of the green chili, it was very bland. Luckily, there was salt on the table. I took a brownie home, and it was so moist I wondered if it had ever been baked. I will come back because I missed getting to try the Sante Fe eggs Benedict by about 5 minutes, but the rules are the rules.
We ordered breakfast. The food was fresh made with very fresh ingredients but not very hot. The sour dough toast and jalapeno bacon were yummy. The breakfast potatoes are not great though. The staff are very friendly. The dining room seating is very limited and the outside seating needs a serious overhaul. Parking is very limited as well.
I got the gluten free biscuits and gravy. It was delicious. But for $15 seemed like there should have been another biscuit and gravy. And another full strip of bacon. My son got their French toast with eggs and bacon. His portion was good. And the French toast was delicious. But for $33, I think I'll just stick with Ye Olde Pancake Station. They don't have gluten free, but it won't hurt to splurge occasionally. I would have gotten a lot more food. And paid around $20 for the both of us.
No one spoke as we came in, not sure how to order or sit at a table, etc. placed order and sat, had to find our own silverware. Order was correct, pork sausage was so spicy I didn't eat it. Never ask for coffee refills, etc. Loud kitchen staff. Won't go back.
Waited a full hour for a lukewarm breakfast burrito with cold cheese on the top. At 40 minutes in when I asked someone to check on my order she talked to me like a toddler and explained that the kitchen was busy. No apology then or when the burrito finally came out.
We came with high expectations but they were dashed due to an hour and half wait for our food. We watch several parties who came it after us be served and after asking what was going on several times finally a server (who was on her way home) told us the order was never submitted. It then took several more requests to be served. Was the food worth the wait and the poor communications by the staff? No
My husband and I had lunch here today. With the tip it was $46.00 for 2 chicken salad sandwiches and a cold tiny bowl of soup. I was already seated and when the lady brought our food I asked for a spoon. Instead of saying sure just a moment she told me they are over there in the corner . Didn’t we tip you?? Also the staff was laughing and carrying on loudly in the kitchen which is open to the dining area. Very unprofessional. We won’t be coming back.
