This has been my 5th or 6th time hang Punjabi Affair and it never misses. I don’t have a photo from tonight ( Valentine’s Day special ) cause it was too good I forgot to take a photo! Go and try this place it’s amazing! Start with the butter chicken and then work your way around the menu. The vibe inside is cozy and boho!
Good India joint to try in Amarillo .. had nice dinner with chicken tikka, channa masala and daal .. all amins come with rice and naan
The food was amazing. Very flavorful. I had the Lamb de Curry and the Dipping Naan. I could go everyday just for the dipping Naan alone; we went a week ago and I'm craving more of it. I also had Dubai Chocolate, it was so good. And I'm very very picky on my sweet tea, I feel like most places don't make it right. But their sweet tea was AMAZING. My husband got unsweetened tea and that was really good too and I don't drink unsweet tea. Highly recommend this place.
Amazing ambience, no frill service in take away boxes but the seating was comfortable with eclectic decor . The “ Paranda” chandelier was eye catching. The food was piping hot . We ordered Rajma Chawal, kadhi paneer , kadhai chicken and shahi tukda for dessert. I had tears in my eyes , the blast of flavors in the mouth time traveled me to my punjqbi Aunty food back home in India. I myself am a good cook and don’t get impressed easily but after having that food I will highly recommend this GEM . The pricing is so affordable . Loved the food loved staff.
Delicious. Every bite was fantastic. We had the chicken shawarma and a special goat curry. WOW. WOW WOW WOW. Really an amazing find in Amarillo. The team was very welcoming and helpful with questions about the dishes. Also, the spice rating is spot on! 3 out of 5 on the heat scale had a nice bit of very flavorful heat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
It was an amazing and authentic dining experience. The food was personally served by the owner, always with a warm smile. We tried the rajma chawal and shahi paneer, and both were delicious, with lovely taste and beautiful presentation.
We started with the Nakh Rah naan and it was soft with a nice crunch and mild sweetness. Fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the chicken/lamb/paneer. Tried the shawarma and it did not disappoint. Juicy meat, bold spices, and just the right amount of sauce. Simple, filling, and hit the spot. You can dine-in and outside as well. The person who took the order was welcoming and smiley 😊
I'm addicted to the Chicken Shawarma. I was ordering the butter chicken all the time, all their food is delicious but the Shawarma is always calling my name. It's loaded with chicken marinated in Indian spices and loaded into a pita bread along with an assortment of veggies including pickled onions and a tahini sauce that adds a refreshing taste to the whole wrap! I also live their mango lassi which is a delicious yogurt drink.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere was complimented by the kind and friendly prompt service. The flavor from the Masala that I had was wonderful. I also enjoyed the Naan. The option of dine in/out or to go is so accommodating . I can only imagine I will be a returning customer so that I can try so much more of the delicious food.
July 2025 – Return of the Foodie Back again—and guess what? Still drooling. This place continues to deliver the kind of mouthwatering flavor that makes you question every other meal you’ve ever had. It’s one of those rare spots where you sit down, admire how someone has poured their heart into designing this cozy little place so thoughtfully… and then the food arrives, and boom—you forget the walls exist. Total food trance. This is Indian cuisine in its most authentic, no-shortcuts form. Beautifully crafted, thoughtfully plated, and served with care. We tried the Fenugreek Paneer and Matar Paneer—both were comforting, creamy, and cooked with love (and clearly, someone’s grandma-level spice skills). The Naan Taco? Honestly, it stole the show. It was so good, it made the curries feel like the warm-up act. Naan could use a little upgrade, but it wasn’t bad—just competing against some seriously excellent dishes. Also, tried spice level 3 this time. I thought I could handle 4, but after 3 danced lightly on my tongue and politely knocked, I realized maybe I’m not quite ready for the firewalk yet. It had flavor, but I missed that extra kick. Next time: bring it on. ⸻ August 2024 – The First Time That Hooked Us This place deserves 6 stars out of 5. Honestly, Michelin needs to invent a special badge just for this dhaba-style heaven. Yes, the menu is limited—but every item on it is a banger. You could close your eyes, point randomly, and still end up with a plate of pure joy. We had Shahi Paneer and Matar Paneer, and they tasted exactly like the ones you get back in India. No shortcuts, no watered-down flavors—just the real deal. Service? Super fast. Interior? Calm, cozy, and surprisingly soothing. It’s the kind of place that whispers, “Don’t worry, the food’s going to hug your soul.” Pro tip: Spice level 3 is plenty—even for regular Indian spice lovers. Anything beyond that and you’re basically signing a waiver. Now it’s official: this place is a fixed stop on every Amarillo visit. No debates. No detours. Just pure desi deliciousness.
My favorite stop between Dallas and Denver! I always make it a point to stop at It’s Punjabi Affair whenever I’m traveling between Dallas and Denver — and every time, it just keeps getting better. I’ve seen a significant improvement in the food quality, seating arrangements, and overall cleanliness. The food is always fresh, hot, and full of flavor — exactly what you need on a long road trip. The seating area is neatly arranged, cozy, and inviting. It’s inspiring to see how this small restaurant is making such a positive impact in the community and providing comfort and great food to travelers like me. Keep up the great work — you’ve earned a loyal customer! 🙌
We went here after looking for an Indian restaurant whilst we stayed in Amarillo for one night during our USA road trip from the uk.. We ordered chicken korma , chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. The dishes were served with rice and a naan. Food was very tasty and the naan’s were some of the best we have ever had. We sat inside to eat our food and the restaurant was very clean . Would highly recommend.
We drove from Northern California to Texas, and this place was the last restaurant we visited on our road trip. We were tired, hungry, and the weather was cold, so we were looking for a warm place with great, healthy food. We found this spot in Amarillo, TX. The first thing that attracted us was the wonderful ambiance, which gave us the feeling of home. The decor of the place was relaxing and cozy. The food was delicious, with the right amount of spice. The vibe of this location and the good-quality food were exactly what we needed at that moment. I hope I can manage to visit this place on my next trip to Amarillo.
I can now say I have dined at all four of Amarillo’s Indian restaurants. While they are all excellent, I do believe I saved the best for last. Punjabi Affair, in all its understated coziness and location, is simply the best. And when I make reference to location, it is hard to believe this was once a Mr. Burger hamburger joint. The current owners have done a delightful job making it look inviting, providing both indoor and patio seating. I ordered the Chickpea Masala in the vegan rendition. This is one of the things that stands out most to me about Punjabi Affair: There are multiple items that are listed as having both vegan and non-vegan. Perfect! This makes it easy for everyone in a group to find something to their liking and dietary preference. The presentation alone was outstanding, with rice occupying one half of the bowl, and the curry the other half, perfectly symmetrical and non-overlapping. A large piece of Naan wrapped in foil was positioned atop it, along with a thin wafer. While I ordered Mild for spiciness, I found there to be sufficient heat to my liking. The dish was flavor-forward, thanks to an abundance of cumin and turmeric in the curry. It was so good that I instinctively slowed down if only to be able to savor it a little bit longer. Chickpeas are an excellent source of plant-based protein. The American diet usually finds them only on salad bars as a topping for one’s greens, not as a main course. Indian food, though, frequently features them, endearing me even more to the cuisine. I’ll be back to try some of the other vegan items, but I am also sure that my carnivorous family members would also find this place to their liking. I bet you will, too.
Simply amazing , lively music, free Wi-Fi , free and ample parking , very neat and cozy feeling restaurant. Food was delicious , steak biryani was spicy ( I asked for it :) ample quantity, plenty of meat in it. host was very hostile and caring. Plenty of space ( indoor about 28-30, and outdoor about 20-24 seating) , well lid restaurant. Very welcoming ambient. Thank you for the great service.
Never really had Indian food before but I love spice. I had the Tandoori chicken. Very flavorful. The Naan was amazing. My wife had Nakh-Rah Naan. Very good as well. We had them leave the cilantro off everything. We ordered a da roll with steak and one with chicken also. Both were great I like all the veggies and yogurt sauce. My daughter got the butter chicken. Very flavorful. We will definitely be back.
Stopped by just for tea. It’s a very small café-style place. You order at the counter, they call your name when it’s ready, and everything else is self-service—sugar for tea, trash disposal, etc. Tea is served in paper cups and most utensils are plastic. One thing that instantly felt strange: the menu had no prices. Just dish names. You’re supposed to order without knowing what you’re paying, which honestly didn’t sit right with me. The most confusing part was the “Chef’s Special / Today’s Special” board. The first item listed was “rajma chawal”. A customer asked the person at the counter what it was, and she had no idea. She turned to the kitchen to ask, and from the blank looks, it was clear no one back there knew either. That moment really blew my mind. If the staff doesn’t know what a dish is, how are customers—especially those new to Indian food—supposed to order confidently? That customer went with something else.
When the website shows beautiful food served on plates but the reality is somewhat different. Plastic bowls and plastic cutlery and drink in a bottle. This is not a restaurant, it’s a fast food joint. You sit down to eat yes but that’s it. Food is served via a hatch and you order here too. As for food, a chicken korma should be rich and creamy and have coconut in it. This is not what I got and my wife’s buttered chicken looked almost identical to mine. Never had a hot korma before looking so brown. First time here and sadly my last. Not recommended at all. I can however recommend Sai Indian.
