Been in the area around a year. It has been hard to get out due to an aging parent. By far the best meal I have had outside my home. The balance of the dish for paring was done to perfection. Will certainly be in the rotation of placed to dine.
Food is amazing and the staff and drinks are always on point. This is truly one of our favorite spots. We have tried almost the whole menu. The smoked ribeye was my favorite but now it’s gotta be the shrimp and grits or the cast iron chicken
We had an amazing experience at Dirty South, and I have to give a HUGE shoutout to our waiter, Edzon. This guy is on another level! From the moment we sat down, he treated us like VIPs — super friendly, on point, and he knew the menu like the back of his hand. You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers. The food was unreal. We started with the brisket tots (must try!), then had a cheese burger and a perfectly cooked strip steak. We finished with their pecan dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Everything was packed with flavor and cooked exactly right. The atmosphere was great, but Edzon is what made the whole night unforgettable. If you go to Dirty South, ask for Edzon — he deserves all the hype and then some! We’ll definitely be back. 🙌🔥
Most of the amazing dishes are served in cast iron skillets, always piping hot. Don't miss the Nashville hot chicken mac and cheese! We love this place, and love driving south to come here instead of anywhere in Houston. You can get twice the value for food and drinks, plus free entertainment that is always great. Our adult kids love the place as much as we do. We will keep coming back.
I have to say I never write reviews, but this place was amazing 10 out of 10 from the hostess to the bar manager to our waitress to the food to the drinks. Everything was excellent very homey filling country old school the atmosphere definitely gonna put it on our weekly rotation for date night
This place is always lots of fun! Food has been consistently delicious and very good and creative cocktails (and a full bar). Good flavor on the chicken fried steak, excellent shrimp bang bang tacos (the tortillas were really good with a small amount of crisp on them). The service is good and they try to be attentive, depending on the night it might be a little spotty but nothing crazy that would make me even doubt coming back. The live entertainment has been really high quality both times I’ve experienced it. Really good performances with good music repertoire. The only drawback is it can get very loud, even with trying different locations to the stage; so if you’re going with the intentions of group conversations, it could be a bit of a challenge. Regardless, really love the place and think it does a great job at executing the overall concept with good food and drinks!
You looking for ridiculous! Found it here. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere welcomes you. Edzon (Ed) was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. So many amazing choices, he helped me narrow it down. Boudin eggrolls were a must. Ordered the Briskit Sloppy Joe with mashed potatoes. Did not disappoint. Brisket melted in my mouth. Potatoes mashed with skins which is an all-time favorite. Even the music was on fire. Definitely moved to the top of my favorite list (sorry Honeres). Will be back to try the rest of the menu!
Excellent place for a date night! The atmosphere was great. The fried green tomatoes were ok, but the shrimp & grits and the ribeye was delicious! The biscuits 😍😍 the drinks are really good too. We will definitely be back! Update: Came back with our kids this time. We tried the tomahawk pork chop, cast iron chicken, chicken strips and hot chicken mac. Everything was delicious!! In my daughter's words - "these are the best chicken strips I ever had." Everyone also really enjoyed the live music.
Awesome food! Great service and atmosphere too. My wife likes the chicken parm even more than Giovanni's. Everything was very good. We always share bites of our food with each other at new places. Nobody had a single negative or even neutral comment. Lots of flavor. EDIT: I had to demote a star on the food after a recent visit. I got the smoked platter this time and overall it was mediocre at best. Ribs were "meh." The brisket sliders were just "okay." Jalapeno sausage was fantastic. But everything else was total trash. Slaw tasted like watered down mayo and had no real flavor. Cornbread tasted like flour and corn water with a few kernels. Mac-n-cheese was total garbage. All the other food we had was great but the smoked platter was terrible.
We have been here twice. First with two families and once as a couple. The food is excellent and priced very well. The mixed drinks are ok, but fairly priced. They have a stage with live music. It is loud. If youre ready for that, go. Its a great time. If youre just looking for food, it might be best to sit on their patio. Later in the evening, when they are very busy, the service can take a while, 20 mins plus in between check ins. Order two rounds at a time.
Last minute date night on a Friday. It wasn’t super packed but there also wasn’t any live music playing. Ordered Brisket tots, Boudin Eggrolls, Nashville Hot Chicken, and Steak Petit. The brisket tots had BIG tots, not your usual freezer bag size. Pretty good dish. The boudin egg rolls were okay, the boudin wasn’t a very pronounced taste. We used to a bolder flavor. But the very crispy wonton was pretty good addition. The Nashville hot chicken was kind of basic. No real breading to the capture the flavor, so it was like chicken and oil. The Steak Petit was good. The steak itself was very flavorful and well cooked. The sides were pretty basic but didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the dish. The servers were all very attentive and helpful. We would go back to try more dishes!
Went around 6:00 and place was nea empty, but it started filling up after we got there. Food was all solidly good. I ordered the blackened redfish, which was slightly overcooked, but otherwise fine. My partner ordered the tomahawk pork chop, which was very good and cooked perfect. My other guest ordered the cheese steak sandwich, which was melt in your mouth tender. It is mixed with caramelized onions, which made it so much better.
Had a really Great Birthday dinner with 12 guests. The Waitress busted her tail to keep us happy. Food was tasty. Got the Tomahawk Pork Chop with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. A friend had the same thing but added a delicious crawfish topping that usually is found on their blackened Redfish. His was Amazing... Mine was just average. 😆 Wife had yummy Rustic Parmesan Chicken over linguine. Another friend had a nice thick Smoked 12oz Ribeye and said it was Great! Prices were very reasonable. ~$15-30 for most plates. The old building is nicely redone and cozy. The overflow room could have used some music playing and the lighting was really dim. Men's restrooms had 3 stalls and No urinal. We didn't stay for the band. Overall a Strong 4 stars 👍
It was a very nice dining experience. The country theme was carried out in very cute ways..like JOHNNY and JUNE bathrooms!😉 The food was prepared well also! The shrimp and grits was flavored very subtlety..and was not over cooked. The Cast Iron chicken was delicious too! They have a wide variety of wines, beers and mixed drinks available. We missed the live entertainment tonight, but we plan to go back soon and enjoy some music with our next meal!
Traditional country breakfast. I think the best thing that we ordered was the pancakes by far. Biscuits and gravy were pretty good. Everything was good but the pancakes were exceptional. I think it's a nice venue for live music. But I wasn't able to stay for the evening. I saw some people next order the fried shrimp it looked super tasty. I would go back and try it again.
I wanted to like this place more than just 3 stars 🌟. I really really did. The building decor is cute and has its niche. We got here at 12:40 (just as lunch was starting to slow). There was plenty of seating. At a glance, it would seem that everyone who was seated just got there. The more we listened to conversation around us and watched the waitresses, the more we realized that was not the case. Our waitress seemed to be doing the job of several people, including bartender and more than her share of tables. Bless her heart she was trying. We were there for 1 hour 20 minutes before we ever received our main entrees. That's not excessive if the place is so busy that there is standing room only and people are waiting to be seated but by this time the place had basically cleared out with the exception of a table in the back. Again, I don't know the circumstances of that table, but that is excessive for what I felt this place was shooting for. The food was about average in taste. The fried green Tomatos were cut too thick for my liking, and so were the fried pickles and peppers. We are used to the thinner slices. All the food just seemed below par. The pictures made it look so tasty, but looks can be deceiving. Like I said at the beginning, I really wanted to like this place, but it had too many things not going it's way. The likelihood of us coming back is minimal.
I went to Dirty South for Girls Night Out with a group of friends. We had purchased tickets in advance and made a reservation. We arrived about an hour early, and the place was still pretty empty. Despite that, we were seated outside on the patio — something that was never mentioned when I made the reservation. Our table had a thick brick wall and another table between us and the performance area, so we couldn’t see or hear the show at all. When we asked our server if we could move inside, we were told no. It was extremely disappointing, especially considering we had tickets and arrived early. We ended up leaving before the show was over because we simply couldn’t enjoy it from where we were seated. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and unfortunately, I don’t see myself coming back.
I’m writing to share my recent visit to the restaurant, unfortunately the experience did not meet my expectations, the food was served cold and I honestly don’t understand why if they were not busy at all . When I told my server Tyler about the food being cold she came across rude and dismissive, this made the situation more disappointing as I was hoping it could be resolved. No manager once came to check on us and try to solve the problem , instead her and the rest of the servers were sitting on the bar on their cellphones , not to mention you can constantly hear the kitchen bell being rung so they can go get there food while they were on their phone ,also the sever never once asked if we needed a refill on our drinks. This really sucked because I know this is a great restaurant but somehow their service is getting worse.
