Stopped in on a freezing cold night and enjoyed every bite of food we ate. We started by sharing a bowl of the coconut curry soup. This heat from this soup quickly warmed us up both from the temperature as well as the spice. Now, I generally don’t love spicy food, but this heat stayed on the palette without feeling uncomfortable. The sweet potatoes and squash tempered the heat perfectly and we found ourselves pondering the wisdom of sharing the bowl over us each getting one for ourselves. We then had the house salad: lovely cleanse of our palettes before having our entrees. We decided to share the Seared Big Eye Tuna and the Thai Peanut Noodles. When those dishes came, our already wonderful lives just got better! Because the dishes were so very different— the noodles being comfort food and the tuna being a lighter fare, we started with the noodles. The curried chick peas were out of this world! And the peanut sauce was perfection. Each bite made me want more. I even loved the tofu, which I’m not usually a big fan of. Once we decided to switch to the tuna, we set the noodles aside to take home and dove right in to the next round of deliciousness. The rice was crispy on the outside and warm on the inside and the tuna was seared just enough to not make it tartar. It was smooth and creamy and oh so fantastic. I used my fingers to make my own sushi, layering the tuna under the rice and avocado and rolling it a bit for my bites and dipping it into the ginger-miso sauce. Yes, I was clearly having a good time with my food! Ohhh were we full, but not done yet, for, how could we stop there?! My partner got the Crème Brûlée Tasting (green tea, Thai-lime, and ginger). Who knew crème brûlée could be so interesting? And delicious! I didn’t think I would like it (being a chocolate kind of girl), but I did. I had the Chocolate-passionfruit mousse, which was divine, albeit a tad different. It, as the name, suggests, is not your standard mousse. The passionfruit has an equal flavor profile as the mousse, so you would want to go for the chocolate cake if you want a heavy dose of chocolate. I was very happy with my selection, especially because it was so light after eating all that food. One last note: the service was awesome 😊

Absolutely delicious. We ordered the tuna (pictured), the miso salmon, and the pork tenderloin. For desert, the soaked pear. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was excellent.

One of the best restaurants in Ann Arbor! In my opinion the tuna is the best dish on the menu and I would highly recommend it. The crispy rice and three sauces with the tuna is just the best combination. I have to also say that the bartenders always do a great job. Any cocktails or mixed drinks are consistently well done. The wine list is extensive too! Whether you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or just want a nice dinner, this is the perfect spot.

Another fantastic experience. It's a no brainer to come here over restaurant week. My girlfriend and I had the spring rolls and crab cake for appetizers, the soup and salad and the lamb shank and ribeye for the entrees. I don't think you can do wrong with any of the dishes but the lamb just falls off the bone! For dessert we had the creme brulee tasting which was truly excellent, as someone who loves creme brulee. The wine pairing makes for a great all around experience.

Stumbled upon this place while in town for the day. We walked in around 4:45 on a Friday. We were greeted and asked if we had reservations. We looked at the fairly empty restaurant with a puzzled look and replied no. It was then explained to us that it was restaurant week, and it was the last day of rw. He then offered us a seat at the bar. Took a seat at the bar, and was given the best service. Appetizer salad entree 35.00 paired with a wine for ap and entree 16.00 this was well worth it. The chopsticks were metal and a little hard to get used to at first, but a few tries in and I was trying food off my friends plate. The food was amazing. My taste buds did flips. Meat was tender scallops were perfect soup was earthy and sweet at the same time. Dessert was also amazing I had a pear, which I highly recommend. The wine had great legs and a delicious aroma. I went to the lr about 20 min after we sat and the restaurant was packed. If you go in, sit at the bar the service was impeccable .

Food was terrific and service was great. We had the garlic-chive dumplings and zucchini scallion crepes to start off. We then had the Thai penaut noodles, five spice duck, and the korean marinated ribeye and all were delicious.

A fabulous experience! Food was great, decor was innovative, staff were friendly - not much more you can ask for in a restaurant. We ordered the Korean Marinated Ribeye and Wasabi Peppercorn Tenderloin - both were delicious. For dessert, we tried the Almond Panna Cotta and let’s just say we’re very glad we did :)

Delicious and delicate food with a menu emphasis on seafood but not exclusively so. Service was excellent. The pace of the meal was on the slower side but didn’t feel out of place or imposing - make sure to go relaxed without time constraints.

Good Fusion restaurant with heavy Japanese flavor influences. Extremely unique food and drinks. Good visual atmosphere. Tables are a bit tight, but presentation is top notch.

Pacific Rim by Kana offers a warm, polished dining experience with refined pan-Asian flavors and thoughtful service. We ordered a variety of dishes and loved every one of them. The Tuna Tartare with Taro Chips was a crisp, textural starter with a bright, clean flavor. The Unagi Terrine was a standout—served warm over sushi rice with avocado and finished with a bold, green mustard sauce. Rich, smoky, and deeply satisfying—one of the best bites of the night. For mains, both the Japanese-Style Sablefish and the Korean-Marinated Ribeye were excellent. Served over rice, they evoke donburi and bibimbap in elevated, plated form. The sablefish was silky and miso-glazed, while the ribeye was charred and tender, topped with a soft egg that brought everything together. Dessert was just as thoughtful. We had a Pistachio and Mascarpone Crêpe, and a Crème Brûlée Tasting with green tea, key lime, and ginger. The brûlées were distinct and well-balanced. Our server even added a birthday candle—unprompted and kind. Service was quietly exceptional. Our young server (possibly a student) was attentive, sincere, and never pushy. The setting is elegant without being fussy—warm lighting, natural wood tones, and subtle pan-Asian décor make it perfect for a special dinner that doesn’t need to show off. Just quality, quietly done right.

My wife and I went here for an anniversary dinner, which did not disappoint. We have been here a few times now, and every time it is excellent. We started with the Thai calamari. It was cooked absolutely perfectly. The calamari was very tender, and the outside was fried crispy. The sauce was fruity and had a nice vinegary punch to it as well. My only critique is that it could have used more salt. Some pieces were salted nicely, but others needed more. For the main dish, I had the Duck and my wife had the Tuna. The duck was cooked to a nice medium rare along with a 5-spice reduction sauce, and it was delicious. It came with broccoli and a cheesy risotto. The tuna was served raw with a ginger-miso-wasabi sauce. It was so good. Service is always excellent. Lastly, we had a sample of the Mango Thai basil sorbet, it too was excellent, very Thai basil forward, which I really like. We left very satisfied.

Since my last visit in 2011, I came back with my son. This place uniquely offers some menus in Korean-French styles. We had tartare for the starter and sablefish and prawns for the main entrees. Sablefish was amazing (like sea bass tenderness) as before but i felt a bit too sweet this time. The best part was warm chocolate cake with ice creme. Don't miss this even you are full

Haven't been back here since before the pandemic. Decide to stop in and see how things were going based off some of the menu changes that they had made. I'm so glad that I did. Everything on this menu was amazing. The appetizers were great. Portions were big. Our way to spend a ton of time going over the menu and dealing with some food allergies for us. I got the peanut butter noodles with the octopus appetizer. Both were amazing. Can't recommend them more. Everything had the perfect amount of heat and prepared hot. Can't wait to come back to this place! Not so much a downside, but you can rack up a pretty high bill pretty fast if you're hitting these advertisers and drinks, so make sure you're paying attention. And a final note, their beer selection was pretty on point as well. Go with any of the stouts that they have available. The won't regret it and a pair great with the noodle dishes

Very good experience. One of the finest in Ann Arbor. We moved with wine pairing for our full course of dinner. We started with some calamari then some dumplings for our appetizers. Then we ordered a full dinner course, which was awesome. Definitely a must visit.

Great service, the food is flavorful and refreshing takes on traditional dishes. I started with the vegan butternut squash soup, I got the large bowl and didn’t finish! The dumplings and zucchini pancakes disappeared in between dipping and chatting. I got the peanut sauce noodles for a main and thought halfway thru, this is so good and I can stop right now, then I ate the other half, it was so good! Olivia had the tuna dish, the presentation is lovely and she enjoyed every bite.

Had an amazing tuna dish here last week for dinner. The rice was formed into little pucks and was grilled slightly on both sides. Slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

I took a 5pm reservation for our family of 4 , with a request for 2 high chairs. We were greeted very warmly by the host, he even had the two high chairs set up for us in a nice corner of the restaurant. Being 5 pm, we beat the restaurant week traffic. The server was amazing. Polite, quick and accommodating. The food was fantastic. We had the pork belly for appetizer. The Korean inspired rib eye with quail eggs for main course. And shared a dessert of dark chocolate mousse with passion fruit sabayon sauce. Mouthwatering! Best service ever! They have nice individual restrooms. No diaper changing station but we didn't have an issue with that.

Ulisses is the best server we had in our years of dining experience. He is calm organized kind and attention to every detail in a very casual low key manner . Gives great suggestions too :) Yes, food was delicious specially the prawns and sablefish. However service was very top notch

Celebrated my birthday here and they gave me their best dessert. Their appetizers and entree were amazing. Taste, service and experience is well worth the $$$.

I can see why this restaurant is highly rated. All the dishes were so delicious. My son said his ribeye was so tender and flavorful. My branzino skin was nice and crispy, fish cooked to perfection. Try the almond panna cotta. Wish I had a second serving! Our server was very attentive and friendly. Restaurant is cozy with nice ambience. Price on higher end but definitely worth it for a special meal.

I came here with my family for mother’s day and we liked it a lot. The entrees and desserts were great but we didn’t love the appetizers. Of the appetizers, we liked the unagi one the most. The tuna was our favorite entree and we also liked the salmon, sablefish and ribeye. The chocolate cake and creme brulees were an amazing finish.

Edit- Just updating to say that this is still one of our top 5 local restaurants. They can do no wrong! Tonight we ordered the Unagi appetizer and the Seared Tuna entree and both were superb. The pork belly and Sablefish were amazing as well. Everything they do is perfection. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Amazing food and such lovely service all around! I would highly recommend to anyone in the area to stop by for a wonderful dining experience.

Awesome food and service. We had the 5spice duck, peanut noodles, tuna entree, pork belly appetizer (quite filling as an entre if you are not too hungry) a d calamari. Followed by warm chocolate cake and creme brulee. Everything was beautifully presented and yummy. 😋

Pacific Rim is one of our favorite restaurants in Michigan. The prices are very reasonable, the dishes are always flavorful and delicious, and the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. My husband and I have been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. The location in downtown Ann Arbor is perfect, making it an easy spot to visit whenever we are in the area. Truly a gem we’ll keep returning to.

One of the best restaurants in Ann Arbor. You'll never have a bad meal here. Service is consistently attentive and friendly.

The salmon is my favorite! It’s super soft and buttery, and the vegetables, rice and sauce/dressing really compliment it well. I finish the plate every time. The crab cakes were also so soft and tender, and the thick sauce adds lots of flavor. Didn’t try dessert this time around. The place is upscale and very pretty on the inside.

Its wonderful. We’ve been several times for date nights and we’ve brought parents and it’s been great every time. The drinks are excellent, the servers are professional and knowledgeable, you can tell everyone is communicating with one another. The food portions are enormous, we always have food to bring home. I recommend the tuna or calamari appetizer, the ribeye main and any of the entree specials are to die for. And the chocolate cake is so gooey and good. We also love the creme brulee trio. Its the perfect place if you love food and flavor with an asian influence.

Really happy with this place. Been there twice and has not disappointed. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious and the presentation is incredible. We had Tuna tartare, Miso Teriyaki Salmon, Seared Big Eyed Tuna and Korean Marinated Ribeye. The ribeye is like a deconstructed Bibimbap and really incredible. The Tuna was presented beautifully and tasty. The Salmon was good as well.

I have been to many upscale, mid tier and hole in the wall Asian restaurants. I am Asian, Asian food is very close to my heart. That being said this place was surprisingly affordable for a nice moderate upscale dining experience, with excellent serve with good food. To elaborate, we made a reservation for my bf and I’s birthday. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive and helped with my lactose intolerance. Other servers/people stepped in as well to clear any dishes and refill any drinks. Our cocktails were really good and well balanced. What we ordered was the Tuna with Taro chips, the Pork Belly with Soba Noodles, Duck Entrée and the Veggie Noodles. All the food was good…but not fantastic in the sense that nothing really stood out to me. The Tuna and Taro chips were good, the taro chips were really tasty and light but the tuna mix felt like it was lacking flavor. The pork belly with soba I found interesting, plating wise not the easiest thing to try to eat together. The pork belly seems a little over cooked, I usually expect the outside to be crispy and the rest to melt in my mouth but it did not. The sauce with it was overpowering the soba noodles in my opinion. Typically soba noodles have a lighter taste to them. The sauce made it feel heavier. The Duck Entree I had was yummy, the duck I think was cooked pretty perfectly, the sauce it was in was yummy but almost too overpowering of the flavor of the duck. I won’t make comments on the risotto as they modified mine without lactose and I thought it was lovely they did so and it tasted pretty good. Bok choy seemed a little over done but together as a whole dish I loved the idea and it was good. My boyfriend had the Thai Peanut Noodles in what seemed to be a curry type sauce. I personally did not find it that good, just lacked depth of flavor, I thought the choice of vegetables was kind of interesting. The sauce itself I think should have been slightly thicker to help it stick to the noodles better. I didn’t eat that much of it but what I did have I wasn’t interested. For dessert we had chocolate cake with ice cream and then a mango Thai basil sorbet. The warm cake and ice cream was pretty good and that sorbet was wild!! Should probably call it Thai basil mango sorbet because wow it definitely reminded me of Asian desserts I grew up with, very strong in the Thai basil realm as you continue to eat it tho but I enjoyed it! TL;DR Great service and atmosphere Cocktails were on point Food was good but nothing special but since prices weren’t really that expensive for what you got, it was worth the cost in my opinion.

Moderately upscale modern Asian cuisine in a pleasant and cozy environment. The food came in an ordered but timely manner and was well worth the price. They have a decent sized list of unique cocktails and plenty of wine options. The food definitely tasted good but nothing that blew me away. A good spot to check out!

My partner and I went to pacific rim for restaurant week. The portion sizes are pretty small and I couldn't say I was full after the three course meal and dessert. The appetizer crab cakes and the Saigon rolls (esp the sauce) were very good. The chocolate cake dessert was phenomenal! We both agree that the thai bouiballaisse was an amazing entree, however the Korean Ribeye was disappointing in flavor and a bit too fatty. Service was spectacular, definitely worth going during promotions, but other than that I don't think it's worth the price

Went here for a birthday dinner and we had great service from the staff. They really made her feel welcome. We had the salmon and calamari and the vegetarian crepes. The calamari was a good portion and perfectly fried. The salmon was medium and also perfectly cooked. Overall a really great experience!

J

Food was decent. Not great but decent. I had the vegan Thai peanut noodles. Menu said crispy fried tofu, but the tofu came soft. Noodles were similar to fettuccine which was odd. Sauce was similar to pad Thai sauce. Food came out a little cold. But better than no vegan options in Ann Arbor. Service was decent.

T

Much care is taken in the presentation of dishes at Pacific Rim. Only one vegetarian main dish, Thai peanut noodles, but thankfully it is good. The few vegetarian appetizers (Chinese garlic chive dumplings, zucchini-scallion crepes) were also nice. Do wish they would add some more vegetarian options to their menu though. We sat outside because indoor seating was full, and the experience was just ok. The sidewalk is narrow and many people were walking through.

Amazing service. Great atmosphere. Some good flavors but spotty execution. Some of the meat dishes were very (blue) rare rather than medium rare that we preferred. The desserts were phenomenal. The matcha cheesecake is to die for!

M

The food is okay but the flavor is too heavy, we came here for anniversary, but a bit disappointed. The dessert was nice! Maybe we will give another try.

The food was good! It wasn’t “OMG AMAZING” but it was still enjoyable. My favorite dish was the Southeast Asian Crabcakes. The flavors were meshed together perfectly. We also had the five spice duck and the Japanese style Sablefish. Those both were okay. Maybe I was expecting more of the Asian flavor profile so I found it lacking. But I do recommend giving it a try!

Everything on the menu sounds delicious. Came here few weeks prior, and the service and entrees were incredibly incredibly slow (1+ hour wait for entrees to come out after placing orders and appetizers already came). First experience was pretty bad. However; since the food was alright, we decided to give this place another chance. The winter menu’s Thai curry bouillabaisse here is absolutely delicious, was really disappointed to see it go. Our second time here, everything was great and quick to come to our table! The quinoa crusted scallops were what replaced the bouillabaisse on the menu, and was absolutely delicious. I loved the sauce, but I really think they should keep the bouillabaisse year round! Crab cakes and Thai hot sour soup were also incredibly delicious. Wasabi-peppercorn tenderloin was definitely lackluster and barely had any taste of wasabi. The upgraded beat salad were okay, but I don’t recommend it. Honestly, just getting the regular house salad that comes with the entree is fine This is definitely becoming a quick favorite for seafood in Ann Arbor. It’s not perfect, but there are a lot of really delicious options.

So I tried the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. I did have the choice between pork and beef. I have to be honest though, the pork was super dry and it was really hard to eat. What save the day was the amazing Korean calamari and even better than that, the awesome bartender. Hands down, he made some of the best cocktails I had while visiting Ann Arbor. Would definitely go back, would just try a different dish.

Cocktails: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Starters (crab cakes and unagi): 4/5 Mains: 2/5 Overall, we had a nice night due to the great service, awesome cocktails, and delicious starters. We were both very underwhelmed by our main courses though. I had the sablefish and my husband had the lamb shank. Both of the proteins were COOKED well, but the flavor profiles were extremely one note and blah. With the sweetish sauce pictured drizzled all over the fish/veggies/rice, the entire dish tasted like the same flavor profile. Both the lamb shank and the sablefish needed some acid and heat to break up the flavors. This restaurant had been hyped up a lot by friends but the main courses were somewhat of a let down.

Tried Pacific Rim recently. The Thai calamari appetizer was excellent and set the bar high, but the entrées didn’t quite match up — both the tenderloin and salmon were surprisingly bland. The atmosphere and service were decent, but for about $120 total, the meal didn’t feel worth the price. Overall, not a bad experience, but I was expecting more given the cost.

M

Came here with my mom and sister to try something new. I ordered the duck for my entree and the actual duck was fine but the risotto and vegetables were flavorless which really ruined the dish for me.

I

Had fairly high hopes for this as I love Asian fusion and was only somewhat impressed. The atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely and the cocktails are both unique and delicious. The food left something to be desired, particularly as a vegan diner. The scallion and zucchini crepes seemed to me to be akin to a traditional scallion pancake seen at many Asian fusion restaurants but were actually quite soggy and not too flavorful. I think the amount of zucchini is really what brought this unsavory texture; they would have been quite good if they were crispier. For my entree I ordered the Thai peanut noodles. These were advertised as having caramelized tofu but the tofu pieces arrived much drier than the description implied. The noodle sauce was alright, but not very flavorful. Kind of one note—might benefit from more umami or citrus flavor. I also have to note that it took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to get our entrees. When one of my party members asked our waitress about the wait time, she said that she was following the standard dining service and that it was our fault because we ordered an extra appetizer slightly later than the first two. Overall, this is advertised as a pretty high class experience and while the environment fulfills that ideal, the food and service didn’t quite make it there when we were here on a Saturday night. The menu and cocktails are very promising and I think there’s just a bit more work to be done!

I
I27T I84

The plating was incredibly sad, especially for the price. Our waitress randomly abandoned us halfway through the meal, and she never brought our entrees out. These photos were taken immediately after the food was placed in front of us. The zucchini was burnt (but only three of them, for some reason, as you can see from the photo). All of our veggies were soggy and mushy (likely because the food had been sitting in the window waiting for a runner, as we waited around for our entrees after the apps for a good 40 minutes). The calamari was good. Our entire meal took almost 3 hours, and we only got appetizers and entrees for two people. We won't be coming back.

B
Beth Kimball

We ate there last night. Sorely disappointed. We actually had no waiter assigned to our table of five people. We had to just flag people down. Then when the bill came, there was a 20% tip already added to the bill. We only had five people! Plus, we did not have a waiter! The standards of this restaurant have gone down and it is sad because the food is good.

Had dinner there with my sister last night. I always loved Pacific Rim, but was somewhat disappointed last night. We had a reservation at 6 and I came a bit early (5:50) just bc I was already downtown, I offered to wait in their waiting area but they seated me right away, my sister showed up right on time at 6. The food was delish as always, although after we ordered drinks and small plates, our server didn’t show up for a long time. He didn’t ask us before for the whole order, he asked if we wanted anything to drink and then any appetizers. We were there to have dinner. Then he comes over and says Anything else? Umm, yeah, we said, - dinner. 🙄 Ok fine, dinner comes and then, we didn’t even finish eating - a check, and he’s hovering trying to clean out our plates. And then at 7:55, the host comes over and says that they have a lot of ppl waiting so since we are done with dinner and paid, we need to leave. My sister still had half a glass of wine left (should we ask to be refunded for that since they didn’t let her finish it 🤔). The guy was (sort of) very apologetic and such, but what the heck?! We left of course, but left with a very bitter taste in our mouths. May be it’s written somewhere that we only have two hours to eat, but common, I don’t just come there to eat, and may be two hours is enough for somebody, but when you’re enjoying dinner with friends, time is the last thing on your mind. We didn’t just waste a table, we had a lot of food and, like said, still had wine on the table. Quite frankly, we probably would’ve needed another 20 min, half an hour tops. Honestly will think twice before I go there again.

I was really disappointed by my experience at Pacific Rim during restaurant week. We had items from the restaurant week menu with a wine pairing. We were hoping to try the restaurant for the first time, but my experience definitely won't have me returning. The food was similar to wedding food in that it seemed to be made at scale, without much flavor / care, and it was extremely dry. The service was also very poor -- we had the last reservation of the night, so there wasn't anyone coming in after us and we were there for less than an hour; despite this, the server came over several times when we were still clearly eating our food and asked to take our plates. The entire experience was very rushed, without the servers paying attention to what was going on. I understand that the restaurant week experience may be different than a normal visit to this restaurant, but it was extremely disappointing and we will not be returning. There are other restaurants in the area (eg Miss Kim's) that are a similar, if not lower, price point that offer significantly better food and service. I would recommend that management consider whether opening up every table in the restaurant and trying to juggle more than can feasibly be served is a good idea in attracting people to dine there again.
