Tip: The chopped brisket may not be what you expect. Consider ordering sliced brisket for a better experience. If using the drive-thru, double-check your order for sauces.

We didn't go in the establishment we ordered from drive thru and the person taking our order was nice and the food omg was so good. It was our 1st time ever eating there and we are definitely going back it so satisfied our taste. Keep up the great work
Colters is THE best bbq in the metroplex and, quite frankly, likely the world. Their meats are juicy and moist and there is simply no comparison to their bbq sauce. None. Try the onion rings as well. I eat a large order they’re so good. I’ll even eat them room temperature with a little salt and they’re still delicious. Colters is the best - I drive 30 minutes to get it and if I had to drive an hour I’d still do it with a smile on my face! Enjoy!
Great job, as ever. I have been to this location several times over the years and I'm never disappointed. It's the same old-school bbq that I grew up eating. I don't live close any more, but I return every time I'm in the neighborhood.
Needed about $1000 of last minute bbq for a Christmas luncheon at work. Nobody had 10 racks of ribs, 10lbs of sausage, 10 lbs of brisket, and 10 whole chickens with all the sides EXCEPT for Colter's. Had it all within 15 minutes. And the bbq was good, too. They earned my business for good. The manager there runs a good business.
Price is fantastic for bbq. 3 meat platter will leave you full and with leftovers. Ribs are tender and fall off the bone. Smokey flavor in every bbq item is superb! Food is 10/10. Staff is friendly! Location is popular but not overcrowded. Just perfect spot all around!
Ate here for the first time in like 15 years, and they still have the best ribs! This place is awesome for ribs!!!
Fantastic BBQ, if you aren't going here you are going to an inferior, dry and sterile, commercialized place most likely. Consistently juicy BBQ at either this location or the Dallas one. All the fixins are delicious, warm and friendly environment from people that love working here and care about their customers. 10/10 highly recommended BBQ in DFW. A TASTE OF TEXAS!
Coulter's BBQ is a good place to go have a sandwich. Or if you need some ribs and would like some onions and pickles to go along with that. They're fries aren't bad either. The last sandwich I had was a little greasy and it was chopped barbecue
This is the second time I've had Colter's cater an event for me. Reasonably priced. Asked for an 1130 am delivery on May 27, 2017 and they were here at 1115 with my order. They set everything up and made my Engagement party stress free. The food was amazing. Perfect brisket and Turkey. The peach cobbler was awesome!! I will use them again for my next event. Worry free, hassle free and delicious.
The food was pretty good and the value for the money is awesome. The only real downside was the menu being very difficult to understand. Overall, if you're looking for a good classic small town BBQ joint, I'd recommend you check out Colter's!
Even when the new guy messed up on our to-go order. The manager made it a point to make up for his mistake. I didn’t even ask for it, but the gentleman offered to give us extra barbecue sauce. Now that’s how Americans do business!
Colter's BBQ is a Fort Worth staple that still delivers with each visit. Excellent food, great service, and consistent quality through the years! Do yourself a favor and check them out.
Great barbeque that is facing the same problem as every other food service place. Food prices have increased so it's not a cheap meal but it's quality. The brisket is as good as ever and the sides are what you would get anywhere else. Service is average for a drive through and communication is good. Quick food done right.
Today, probably the nicest thing we've ever had happen from eating at any restaurant was that my husband left his wallet at the restaurant, and the manager was so nice he actually brought it to our house. The people at this location are always friendly and polite. The service is always fast and professional and we go there quite a bit as a family. We love all their food, especially the onion rings, chicken, and sliced beef, and with that nice gesture we are now customers for life! THANK YOU especially to the Colter's manager!
Best place around. The turkey and the stuffed bakers are my favorite, the kids love the chicken strips. I almost forgot the onion rings! Sooo good. They cater too and the caterings might be better than going to the restaurant.
Love Colter's BBQ! The food is always great. The meat is cooked to perfection. Baked potatoes are yummy. Potato salad and coleslaw very good. The rolls are delicious. Peach cobbler is delightful! Employees are friendly and efficient. Looking forward to my next visit to Colter's.
We've been long-time customers but really started patronizing in mass last year. Loved it from the get-go and have been going weekly at least ever since. The quality, very tasty food, customer service, and friendliness especially during the pandemic really stood out and was a real pleasure to experience. We will gladly continue to visit here as active customers - never a bad experience.
Wow! first time there. Ordered for the family. Food was great. And the staff were friendly and smiling. I liked that. We will go back.
It was my first time going there for anything, and I bought brisket. At brisket was off the chain... it was so tender and tasty. I was very pleased with it and I will be back! I just hope it's the same, because in the past I've been to barbecue restaurants and the brisket was sold damn tough, I never went back.
Have eaten here many times over a lot of years. Due to health issues, I now usually eat it at home instead of the restaurant. No matter, the quality of the food is great and consistent. And the drive through service is quick and helpful. The rolls serve as my desert!
Oh my gosh.... Soooo good! We've eaten here several times and always good. We had them bring all the meat, sides, drinks and dessert to my moms surprise birthday party and they went above and beyond to make sure we had great food. It arrived on time and was warm. We WILL use them again for another party and of course be by for dinner again soon. Y'all don't hesitate, just go! It's delicious! Thank you for amazing food and great customer service!! Yall rock!
They have some amazing smoked ham! I can't get enough of it!! It's my favorite here!
Great Food. Nice and Clean. The staff are very helpful and nice.
They have a drive through that is fairly quick for a typical sit down restaurant. Very attentive and quickly filled my order and asked if I needed extra utensils, napkins, ect. Had a chopped beef sandwich with fries, and it was very delicious! Will be a returning customer!
Today we had a taste for BBQ. We love Colters BBQ and have been going here for years. They have always been great, great service, great food, great in all ways. Today was the first time I have ever had any reason to feel any concern. But things happen and when they do its more how the issue is handled than what the actual issue is. We all make mistakes and so when we got home with our bag of BBQ, smelling soooo good, I opened up the tightly wrapped sections. The baby back ribs seemed really small and when I counted them I was sure I had a half slab vs the whole slab I always order. So I called ... I dont think I sounded short or ugly, but sometimes we dont hear ourselves like other do ... so if I sounded short I do apologize. The manager told me that it did indeed sound like I had a half slab so I told him I was on my way. When I walked up to the counter one of the fellas reached out for my bag, he did not ask any questions so he knew about my order. He pulled everything out and begin to make me a fresh order. Not just adding the difference, he remade the entire order so it would be hot and fresh. He offered me rolls and I accepted and thanked him, he tried to get me to take some of the peach cobbler and I wanted some ... but I did not want to take advantage of their kindness so I thanked him and declined ... He gave me my food and apologized sincerely for the error ... kindness goes a long way and they were very kind and wanted to make the order right for me. I should have probably checked the bag before leaving the establishment, I did notice it was rather small, but I did not think the order would be wrong ... it has never been wrong in all the years I have come here. So I want to thank the owner/manager and his staff for treating me well and making sure my order was the best it could be. I hope others read this and know what a great place you have and enjoy many years of great service, great food and great experiences like our family has. Roielynn Sims
It's been 20 years since I visited this location. Looks just the same. Some places try and reinvent themselves but not here. Loved looking around as I ate and thought about all the friends and times we had here. The food is still just as good as I remembered. Got two meat plate and sides. If you want BBQ without the hassle, head on in for bite, and you'll be glad you did.
My husband and I tried Colters BBQ for the first time and I must say we finally found our bbq go to place. The ribs were nice size, brisket was good and the sausage was delicious too all was moist!! The BBQ sauce is the bomb...very delicious!!! Recommended!
Ordered take out and was ready in less than 5 minutes The staff was awesome, efficient, and motivated. Their column of accolades impressed me.
I got my meals to go. Chopped brisket sandwiches with a spud, potato salad, and green beans. All good.
Yes, Yummy BBQ. Our family really enjoys Colters BBQ. Been going here for many many years!! The brisket is amazing. Thanks Happy Life Happy Raj Raj
I have always loved Colter’s and was happy to find one not too far from me. This location is terrific, the food is really good, the restaurant is cute and really clean, and the staff is friendly. This is our new favorite barbecue spot in town.
I ordered the chopped beef with fries! It was soooo good. My sandwich had so much meat! Me and my son shared it and it was more than enough!!
Hands down one of the best bbq places left in Arlington. The turkey is my favorite but those ribs are phenomenal. Also the GM Robert is handsome. He always makes my turkey moist.
Been awhile since I've been back here, and it didn't disappoint. The brisket and link sausage were very good. The Mac & Cheese needed more cheese than Mac. The Cole Slaw was very good. I picked up a Mac Salad before realizing they brought out the Mac & Cheese from the back, the server said I could keep the Mac Salad, even though the 2 meat plate only comes with 2 sides. The Mac & Cheese was much better than the Mac Salad. The sides were good size. The bread wasn't warm or freshly baked, but good enough. The atmosphere was a dozen or so diners in the middle of the afternoon. Seating large enough to keep distance from others. Some televisions had closed captioning on which helped the watching experience. Good country music, volume just right. Excellent service. Probably stop by again when I pass through South West Arlington.
We ordered catering for 100 persons on Saturday, February 22, 2025. The food was delicious. We ordered two meats, potato salad and beans. I forgot the gentleman's name that brought it to us, but very professional, very prompt, and everyone was very pleased with choosing Colter's. We will use them again, we will frequent them in the future, and I think we got a few more customers for you around the Arlington area. Very Pleased! Would give you more than 5 stars but that's all it allowed. K and J. Thank you again for making our celebration even better!
Went here for the 1st time on a whim...and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the #3 which was a sandwich and baked potato with a drink. Talk about affordable in today's economy under $15...yup, and it was great in size quality for the price point and it tasted amazing. Recommend, if you've never been to this place or if you have and need a refresher.
Delicious traditional Texas BBQ. Great value for the amount of food you get. I have not had anything there that I did not like, even the turkey is phenomenal. After ordering the half slab of baby back ribs, I knew I was in for a treat. It was not disappointing! Hurry to Colter’s for a great meal and excellent service.
First time here since I was a kid and I will def be back soon. Staff was extra helpful & nice. Restaurant is spacious. I had chopped brisket sandwich, bun was fresh, sauce was just right & the meat had that perfect smoky bbq taste. Mac n cheese was really good & so was my loaded potato, but let me tell yall this….grab some BANANA PUDDING, it’s the best I’ve had in a very long time, creamy, fresh nanas & the cookies were still crisp! Several drink options, including Kool-Aid which was fun to see. Being here brought back childhood memories.
Lean meat (brisket), excellent sides, and the best sweet tea! Can't say enough good about this experience. Next time I want to try their baked potatoes, I saw someone eating one and had food envy! Overall I don't know that there is anything bad about this one! Good from the get go!
Usually we get grilled chicken salads via the drive thru- always good. They became a go-to thru pandemic. Dined in this time- had brisket plates with mash potatoes and fried okra. I can see where some say the meat could use a little more flavor but overall the food was very good.
Always receive quick and friendly service. Staff is fantastic. Food quality is great and consistent. Easy to drop by on way home after work and drive thru or walk-in (sometimes quicker). Will continue to visit for good tasting bbq!
Excellent flavors on the foods. Brisket is always tender and flavorful, veggies well seasoned and the smoked turkey is addictive and makes a meal by itself. As with all BBQ in Texas, it is a bit pricey, but worth it. Only reason they do not get a five is my allergy to onion means I have issues with some of the offering and the fact that there are tiny pieces in the sauce that I must strain out. Every. Single. Time.
Hello I visited this place over a yr ago and decided to revisit it today. I invited my friend to join me and while we were sitting there eating enjoying our food she looked up and happened to see the person behind the counter who serves the food digging in his nose. She asked me to turn around and look. When I turned around and looked I instantly lost my appetite. Then he had the nerve to start eating a bag of lays chips. Other than this the food was good.
I love this place because they have old school hamburger dill pickles. Raw white onions, I'm on the phantom of the pickled red onion vinegar pickles you get other restaurants. Don't expect craft BBQ when he come to this place expect old school Texas BBQ. I will say they do have good barbecue sauce and probably some of the best sausage in the barbecue business.
Had Sunday evening dinner here. First time we have ever eaten at Colters, probably be the last. Even though it was not busy the guy and gal taking our order and cutting up our meat seemed like we were a bother. Got our food fast but everything was cold. Took the dozen rolls we ordered back, minus the 3 we had all touched. Was given exactly 9 more cold ones. The food had great taste but was also cold. Nothing worse than cold chicken and brisket. Given that we were given cold rolls back after returning them I did not bother attempting to return the meat. The fried okra was hot, as it had just been made. Also, my son said the Mac and Cheese was tasty.
Colter's is very similar to a place I grew up going to in Houston named Luther's. Almost exactly the same. Luther's was victim to a Pappa's hostile takeover- they changed the bbq- it was completely different and not as good as Luther's was. I came to find out that Colter's was once owned by Luther's and had split off back in the 80's. 2 Colter's locations remain today, and I'm happy for that because I still have these places I can go to to get a taste of my childhood... Just wish they had the jalapeño poboy bread 😉
Service was great. Potato’s salad was my favorite.
giving 4 stars because im taking into account "you get what you pay for" this is CHEAP BBQ. its definitely probably at least mid on the BBQ scale. although their baked potatoes are above average for a restaraunt baked potato. its very very good. we frequent here because it's affordable and not too bad. sometimes you just need a pile of meat and a baked potato. if you want really good BBQ in arlington, go to Hurtados. its very good but the price tag is a whole lot higher.
I’ve been going to colters my whole life and I love it, but the drive thru service needs to be better. Everytime I go through the drive through I ask for two things of bbq sauce, and without fail they only give me one. I wouldn’t even mind paying extra for an extra sauce. Also, $1 for a half filled sauce container of pickles is crazy…
I've been here 3 times and the food was great. Chicken was moist, brisket didn't need a knife to cut falls apart when you pick it up, and the ribs are great. Sides are good. The staff has always been nice, the restaurant very clean, the place is pretty big as well. Prices are around the 15.00 per person which is the basic bbq price for a good place and cheaper if you just drink water. Check em out if near little road and near I-20 in arlington Tx of course!
This reminds me of old school barbecue. The kind of stuff that I would have had back in the 80's. The sauce was great, as was the mac and cheese and baked beans. Ambiance was good, but the brisket and sausage did not have any smoke flavor. Texas barbecue has vastly evolved in the last 30 years and Coulter's may be left behind if they don't adjust.
Let me start off with every time I come to this location the food is very good. I do have one thing that I have to say about this restaurant the restroom! It is clean but they either need to update pipes toilets I don't know but the smell & water always on the floor near the toilets just doesn't right. If the restrooms would be changed I would give it FIVE STARS!!!!!
Food wasn't bad but it didn't knock my socks off either. From the smell of the place I expected more. Brisket didn't have a whole lot of flavor.
I’ve eaten here a few times, it’s good BBQ… not great but if want / need a quick lunch the price is good and it a quick in and out and the food is decent. Not one of my top 10 BBQ places. The folks are not very friendly or helpful but you get what you pay for.
The slice brisket tasted like it was soaked in the fake liquid smoke. However husband said the ribs were really good
I got the two meat plate, with ribs and sausage and a baked potato as my side. The baked potato was ok. The sausage is watery and the ribs were a little dry. The sauce is good though. The service is always great. They didn't give me sauce on my meat like I asked, but that's no big deal because they luckily have all three flavors of sauce on a stand in the middle of the restaurant so you can try whichever you like.
I used to go to the Colter's by Northeast mall which is gone and has been for years. When we moved to Arlington, I was thrilled to see a Colter's close by. We finally got an opportunity to go eat there and I was somewhat disappointed. I love sausage, but I found their sausage just okay. The brisket was good, but would have been dry without the sauce. I will say that the honey style sauce is delicious. Sides just blah, but the beans were awful. They had an odd flavor that neither I nor my partner could place. No seconds on rolls like back in the day. Just okay.
Allergy alert. If you are allergic to gluten and milk products, most of their food has some of either. It's in the rub. can't review their food because I couldn't eat any of it. So this isn't a complaint about quality.
Nice atmosphere. Sliced beef was very dry, though flavor was good.
Probably the most mid bbq out there. If you need to watch sodium levels, this is the place as they dont use any seasoning. I guess one positive is the ribs were falling off the bone. Your grandparents probably love this place.
When taking our order, we felt rushed and the worker was fairly rude. The food was not great either. The bbq sauce saved it, but I won’t be coming back.
Not sure why this place gets great reviews. Even a few saying best bbq in DFW. For the price/lb, it is not much less than some of the other bbq spots I have been to but they at least use prime brisket. I don’t even think this stuff was choice. It was more like select with large amounts of fat tissue(not fat, fat tissue). There was no moisture in the moist. I had to add bbq sauce to get the chew down. Then there is their sign saying “Made fresh daily”. I can tell you the cole slaw was at least a day or two old. There was nearly a backbone to the withered cabbage and worse off, it was already turning brown. I couldn’t eat more than 1 forkful before being turned off. The only reason it gets 2 stars is the roll is awesome, ice tea has great flavor, and the pasta salad was very good(who knows how old this was though). So if you come to a bbq place for carbohydrates, come here. If you are looking for awesome protein, look elsewhere.
The food is fine. Nothing special but not terrible. I have to let you all know the following: There is a small customer pricing notice when you go through the drive thru. Basically, they upcharge you 10% for using a credit/debit card (what most people use). Of course, it doesn’t specifically state this info on the sign. You just kind of have to figure this out later. The employee just confirmed it to me when I asked right now. I will never be back.
The Ribs were VERY dry (as if they had been sitting around for several days past their cooking time) and they did not "fall off the bone" in any sense of the term. The onion rings were terrible and tasted just like flour right out of the bag. The BBQ sauce was watery and tasted more like "onion sauce" than bar-be-que sauce. The potato salad was tasteless. The lady at the cash register acknowledged that I was paying with a Debit Card and then she still charged me an $1.30 extra for a so-called "non-cash" fee. This place was almost completely empty and now I understand why. Don't bother eating here, there are so many other better places to get BBQ around town.
Could not believe the small portion of the sides. We ordered 2 sandwiches and a large order of fries and a half pint of okra. They were both small. It was a to go order and I should have checked it
The food pass go it’s edible Ive had worse I’d say a tad bit more seasoning throw the mac n cheese recipe away n do a new recipe of that. The pasta was over cooked n really couldn’t taste the cheese flavor of the Mac n cheese. The beans tasted like chilli beans sweetened. Food wasn’t to tough to chew n sauce matched the ribs, brisket was ight as well! Definitely not the best could get better n not the worse either oh n last but not least the peach cobbler is not peach cobbler. It’s sweet though made like it texture spot on however ion know what to call that it wasn’t cobbler though.
Ribs great! Brisket and chicken dry. Mac and cheese was like kraft blue box. Apple cobbler was pretty meh. Nothing homemade or fresh. Leak in the ceiling dripping water. Had to move tables.
Due to the storm the building had partial lighting. The ladies restroom didn't have lights. The cashier offered a flashlight so that we could use the restroom. The beans were cold as well as the Turkey. The meat did have a good taste. Hopefully everything has been restored so that my next visit will be great.
This is cafeteria food for those that like BBQ. The team is friendly and the restaurant is clean. The pulled pork sandwich is mixed with a sweet Manwich style sauce that’s awful. Get something by else. Potato salad uses sweet relish as an FYI. I won’t be back but if you just must have BBQ and are low on cash give it a go.
So many things can be said about our experience at Colters last Sunday. Very little is very good. Cold brisket meat. Bologna sausage?! (Umm nty) fatty ribs. Nothing tops that 🎶 jeeeezuzz ubba jayyyyzzzzuz
Very disappointed in ordered a monster sliced brisket sandwich with bark/ char. Got lean super dry and bark had no flavor. Anytime.you have to drown in sauce that ain't Texas Q.
Asked for chopped brisket and I got something that looked like ground beef. Look at that picture I posted... Had never seen chopped brisket that looked like this. Didn't taste very good either. In 40 years of living in tx I've never seen chopped brisket that looks or tastes like that. Will not come back here
Customer service is awful, the cutter in particular! I walked up to get my order taken and he was sitting down scrolling through his phone, and the lady was just standing at the register on her phone as well. I waited patiently to get my order taken and was very irritated that no one had the courtesy to greet me. When I finally got my order taken, the cutter didn’t even bother to wash his hands or put hand sanitizer on. All I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner but instead I was very disappointed with the quality of the staff.
It's amazing that every time we get something to go it is missing something, part of your order, bread, BBQ sauce ect. We call to talk to let them know and get gaslighted. They try to make it our fault that they messed up or left something off. Went to the website to try to contact corp office. There is no contact info. So, the only recourse is to call the store that cant seam to get your order right. This seem to be a trend with restaurants lately. They just don't care. Do yourself a favor if you are in Arlington. Go to Davids BBQ In central Arlington.
We come here to eat on a regular And feed a large family . I have never felt so devalued as a paying customer disrespected and argued with about problems That could easily be resolved. For managers to argue with you and treat you like you are looking for a handout (over a 3$ fry)is absolutely absurd. This gentleman made me cry and had no remorse for his treatment or actions. I decided to return after they gave me a incomplete order and the situation was handled so poorly
There’s one of the worst barbecue places I’ve ever been to for two people. It was around $50. The ribs were dry. Whole meal was mediocre. Every other barbecue place I’ve ever been to was way better. I don’t know what happened to this place. Really wasn’t worth my money I know for sure I would never go back, even if somebody was paying for me.
What in the hell this place has some of the worst BBQ out there. Come on Fort Worth y'all can do better than that. Paid 22.17 for some bullshit.
An embarrassment of barbecue in the barbecue capital. . I’ve actually been going for years and each time I think “I must have just had a bad experience”. it is a convent location so I’ve tried it all, but now I am compelled to finally review. Ribs are all fat and chewy with absolutely no flavor. They are neither “fall of the bone” or with a proper “bite”. Brisket is rubbery and chicken tastes funny. They use cheap ingredients and everything tastes previously frozen- even the complementary, dry, mealy bread. It’s just not good. They do have a solid deep fryer and the fried okra is the best thing they serve. They charge you for the privilege of using your credit card in this era of contactless transactions, which is actually illegal. They use real wood to smoke and I don’t know how they can mess that up so much. Definitely not barbecue worth the prices they charge.
I went to Colter’s and purchased a sliced beef sandwich and a rib plate. The beef was favorless but tender. The ribs were very dry and tasteless. The BBQ sauce was vinegar and tomato sauce yuck. In my opinion a waste of hard earned money. Now I know why the place looks deserted.
I’ve been going here since I was a little kid. This place used to have some of the best barbecue in Arlington. However, I sadly will never return here. My sausage tasted like gasoline. When re-ordered, my dark-meat chicken was undercooked and dry. I hope the best for this place, but I myself will never go back.
I ordered the spare ribs and a baked potato. The spare ribs had little bones in them like joints. Couldn’t eat them, The baked potato was very small and had more toppings than actual potato. Disappointed for almost $30. The roll was old and stale. I wondered why the parking lot is always empty, now I know. Poor quality and over priced.
Stopped by the Drive-Thru, 1st time ever to try Colter's...... Omg, how is this even a restaurant still? Asked for the chopped sandwich, all the way - it came just bun and meat (not all the way) and was dry and bland as a rock. It's like it was cooked in the oven and dehydrated even after that. The Service was good, but that's not enough to ever get me to go back - so very disappointing.
I went there for the first time and was trying to make my choice, there was only one family eating, and no people waiting, I won't forget the server appeared to be in a rush or in a bad mood. I ordered to go, and honestly, the food was not good at all, the meat was extra dry, the mash potatoes extra thick and cold. A bad experience for being the first and last time. I won't recommend.
Who is keeping this place open. This was the worst bbq I’ve ever tasted. Food was not done. Sausage was undercooked like they boiled it. Ribs taste like they were for vegans, brisket was pink and looked like it was old and reheated. Potato salad tasted like who knows what and macaroni tasted like it was made with spoiled milk. Sorry, I’ll never be back even if it’s the last place that exist. If I could give it a zero I would. The customer service and young lady at the window was the best thing they got going. At least the dog liked it.
