Wow! This place is awesome. We went on a Wednesday lunch time. The place was rammed, so I would highly recommend making a reservation. Even though it was extremely busy the service was friendly, fast and efficient. It wasn’t too noisy despite it being crowded. Our food turned up in good time and was hot. We ordered the dry rubbed wings and the pulled pork meat plate with Slaw, beans and french fries. Everything was delicious. Plentiful portions too. Even though I shared our dish with my husband we still had food left over to take home. Would really look forward to a return visit to try other menu items. The Brisket looked fabulous.
Ruthie’s is one of those places we come back to again and again. It’s our go-to spot for taking friends and family when they visit because we know it never disappoints. Yes, weekend reservations can be tough if you don’t plan ahead. And yes, service can slow down a bit when they’re busy. But the food? Always worth it. We love the cornbread, deviled eggs, fried chicken biscuit, anything with brisket, the grits, potato salad, lattes, and of course the cookies. Everything is consistently delicious. Plan ahead for a reservation, be patient with parking and service during peak times, and you’ll be rewarded with an incredible meal. Such a gem.
Ruthie’s All Day is always buzzing, and now I understand why! Even though the place gets really busy, the restaurant itself is quite large, so you don’t feel cramped and the energy feels fun instead of overwhelming. We tried their oyster dish to start — it comes with 5 pieces and they’re on the smaller side, but beautifully presented just like everything else that came out. Honestly, every plate here looks like it was made for photos. My favorite was definitely the tri-tip steak paired with my vegetable side. The portion was so generous that it fed me for dinner and again the next morning. Flavorful, tender, and just overall satisfying. Service was quick, friendly, and super on top of things even during the dinner rush. We came to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and they surprised us with the most delicious cookie and ice cream combo — warm, gooey, and the perfect sweet ending. Definitely a spot worth visiting, especially if you want great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere!
Ruthie’s All-Day has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants — and for good reason. We came with friends visiting from New York, and they absolutely loved it too. Everything we tried was fantastic. The hush puppies were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the cornbread was warm, buttery, and just the right amount of sweet, and both the steak and brisket were cooked to perfection — tender, smoky, and full of flavor. The drinks were great as well, perfectly complementing the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed but lively, and the service made us feel right at home. If you’re looking for amazing Southern-inspired comfort food done right, Ruthie’s All-Day is a must-visit.
Giving a 5 star rating because my experience was just that awesome! My bestfriend and I met up there on a whim without any reservations during their brunch service. When we inquired with the host we were told it would be an hour wait for a table but that we could check at the bar. Much to our luck there were two empty seats right at the end of the bar and we were welcomed to sit by the patrons next to them. We were warmly and hilariously greeted my the bartender Nam who then proceeded to give us some of the best customer service we have ever had. Now for the food! The cornbread was absolutel perfection - no notes. Crispy edges, fluffy moist center, slathered in delicious honey butter. We also tried the hush puppies which were sooo flavorful even my picky eater of a bestfriend came back for more, we just had wished there could be a tad more shrimp in it but can’t say they weren’t good. My drink was delicious and strong, I had a whiskey mule that was crisp and refreshing, my friend had the Irish coffee which she enjoyed. We both went with sandwiches for entrees, she the pulled pork and I the RAD burger; we agreed that they were too good not to finish right there - leftovers wouldn’t do them justice. The fries were an extra $2 but lemme tell you they were some torch fries!! House made, fried to a crisp golden brown and nicely seasoned; the perfect accompaniment to our sandwiches. Overall we’ll definitely be returning. Thanks for a great time!!!
I was in town for my kids’ event when someone recommended Ruthie’s All-Day, and it did not disappoint. It’s not often you go to a restaurant where everything is great, but this place absolutely delivered. The food was outstanding, and the presentation was on point. The atmosphere was pleasantly surprising—warm and inviting. Jon was an excellent server—friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. Glad I trusted a stranger’s recommendation!
Visiting old friends in Arlington and we decided dinner was in order. They lived near Ruthie's and said we have to go. It does not disappoint. We are fans of brisket and ribs and the menu was great. Asked the waiter what he recommended on the menu and he said "everything". He wasn't wrong. You can order entrees with two or 3 sides. I went for the ribs with home made biscuits (crunchy outside and soft buttery inside) and Mac and cheese (honestly the best Mac and cheese I have ever had). Wife got the brisket and loved it. More food than we could eat at one sitting (great portions), but I ate almost all of it anyway. My ribs fell off the bone. Sauces were perfect for the pairings. Also a shout out to the wait staff. Our waiter, Rowan, was very attentive and prompt. Food arrived quicker than I expected. Special note: they make limited quantities of the food, so if brisket is your thing, make sure you order quickly before they run out.
Ate here for dinner and had some really good barbecue. I had the Grilled Salmon with potato salad and brussel sprouts sides. The salmon was well cooked and was very good. The potato salad was also good and the brussel sprouts were great. Others in our party had the brisket, which they liked, and the chicken tenders, which were ok, but not great. Really good service and atmosphere here. A nice place in the neighborhood to eat and get good wood-fired southern barbecue.
Ruthie’s All-Day Breakfast was the best breakfast we had while in Virginia and Washington. Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The sausage was exceptional — truly one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Absolutely worth it and a must-visit if you’re in the area.
One of the best restaurants in Arlington. The mac and cheese is amazing, the brussels sprouts are inventive and delicious. Make sure you get a reservation, it's popular!
Great experience. Food and service is amazing. Had a great time. The service is fast and you do need a reservation. For 2 people, 1 cappuccino, one latte, and appetizer and 2 breakfast entrees came to $56usd. The potions are large and worth it. Will come back again.
Friendly staff. There were 5 in our party and we had to wait a couple minutes for a table, we were not rushed in any way and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Started with hushpuppies and cornbread, then moved on to the most delicious burgers and brisket sandwiches. The hand punched fries will make you scream in delight!!! I wish I would have saved room for dessert, but I did not. Will definitely go back when I am in the area again
Great place to lunch. Although there was more than several tables being occupied, the two wait staff was enough. Clean, appealing with fresh flowers on every table, this looks like a very upscale diner. Food was fantastic, and we could not get enough. We will come again.
We came on a Tuesday for a late breakfast/early lunch and had a hard time choosing among so many yummy choices! The RAD Bowl and the Big Bad Brisket Sammy did not disappoint! The service was friendly and efficient, the food arrived quickly and was delicious, and the dining room was bright and airy. Ruthie’s is now our new favorite place!
Extremely delicious southern food, very friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere (especially the outdoor terrace). I really enjoyed the crispy smoked cauliflower. I would also highly recommend the smashed red potatoes.
I came here during restaurant week and we had an appetizer, entree, and dessert for each person for $40. I was a bit underwhelmed by the cornbread; perhaps the butter on the side would've been better for more flavor throughout. The wings as an appetizer had a tasty sauce (I'm not sure which one at ordered). We all liked everything else we got. We were stuffed after. Ruthless parking is small but we paid for parking closer to the residential building next door.
1st time trying this cute eatery! The food was delicious, we got the chicken dinner and 2 sides and could’ve easily split it was big portions and delicious! We will be back next time we visit our daughter!
Excellent food and friendly service. Enjoyed one of the best omelettes I’ve had in a long long time. My wife had the smoked porkbelly breakfast sandwich which was incredible.
Are you kidding?? 🧡 I love this place! My friend + I shared dishes so we could try a bit of everything (forgot to take a pic of the deviled eggs! so good!) Ratings on what we ordered: Deviled eggs (8/10 - little on the salty side) Chai Oat latte + Espresso (7/10) Apple Pancakes (9/10) Ruthie’s Big plate (8/10) Cornbread (10/10) *I made a reservation the night before, they get PACKED on Saturdays.
08/03/2025-Surprise! It’s my Birthday (08/01) Brunch Treat! My son n law and daughter took me to this fabulous spot for Brunch! I ordered the black bean burger with avocado and salad! Yum! Yummy! Delicious! Pay parking, outside and inside seating, great atmosphere, bright airy decor, fast and professional service! A great birthday brunch experience!
Everything they said about it is true. Great food, generous portions (my wife and I split the brisket), reasonable prices, prompt service, awesome ambience. We're going back.
I've never had Southern food before and seen the reviews and wanted to try it out. The service was great! Our server John was on point. He explained everything we had questions about and checked on us throughout the meal. I had the Hangar steak, and it was good, even though it was rare instead of medium rare, like I asked. But it was very delicious none the less. My wife had the chicken and very most and great with the white sauce they added with it. The collard greens I had never had, I could taste the freshness in all the food. No doubt I would go back again if ever in the area again.
Food and atmosphere were as great as it looked online. We went for brunch and got the deviled eggs (they use a really nice olive oil that you can taste) and cornbread to start (perfect balance of sweet and savory) and the brisket was deliciously smoky and tender. All the sides were great too, it’s hard to find a restaurant that can get it all right. My friend ordered the hangar steak, which was good but compared to everything else was my least favorite, just because the cut was kind of thick and hangar steak tends to be chewy. But it was cooked to a good medium rare as requested. My cappuccino was also very good.
Really good brisket, popular dining establishment, and friendly service. We ate at the bar and enjoyed chatting it up with the bartenders and management. Had the halibut on my second visit and shared the chicken... Awesome. Miss hanging with my buddy Mark! Rest in Peace brother!
I visited for the first time during restaurant and the food was excellent! Definitely one of the best restaurants I tried during my most recent trip to the DMV.
Have to say that Ruthie’s lived up to the hype. A great Sunday evening family dinner with delicious food and very generous portions that came out very quick despite the place being so packed. The brisket and chicken were amazing, and the chicken tenders for the kids were also well above what you would get anywhere else. Easy to see why this place consistently gets brought up as one of the top Arlington restaurants.
The best salad I have tried in my Life. The service was amazing too. And the decoration was so beatiful. Gluten free options :) I dont recommed the hamburger.
I recently visited about three weeks ago! I saw a review of someone who had a reservation and waited 30 minutes . The issue I have is with such a great place their weakest point is their hostess and the in ability to communicate! It felt like they just didn’t care! That in itself is a reason not to come! Great restaurants are willing to take care of their customers from door to door! This place doesn’t!!!! Great for brunch! We waited an hour! I don’t think it was worth the wait! Management appears not to care! Smoked sausage. Crab cake’s wonderful! Chicken little dry. ! Mimosas awesome! Hash browns the best but more like hash cakes ! Good service! Waited seven minutes with reservations! The hot spot for brunch!
Everything was delicious! The fries were amazing. Ever one was polite and helpful. Great service without hovering.
Everything was amazing! The ribs fell off the bone. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the brisket was so tender! The mashed potatoes and fries were great and top it all off the apple cobbler was yummy!
I stopped by Ruthie’s All-Day for brunch before heading home, drawn in by its glowing Google description: a chill, light-filled, mid-century modern eatery serving homestyle cooking and a robust drink list. The vibe matched the description perfectly. The menu was incredibly appetizing. To kick things off, we ordered the skillet cornbread and deviled eggs. The cornbread arrived warm, rich with buttery flavor, and was a great start. The deviled eggs were well-seasoned with a unique, intriguing flavor I couldn’t quite pinpoint—but in a good way. For my main course, I went with the steak + eggs + frites, which came with an 8oz hanger steak topped with chimichurri, two eggs (I chose omelette style with onions and peppers), and hand-punched fries. I also tried the tea refresher, which was refreshing, flavorful, and paired well with the meal. While my steak initially came out well-done instead of medium, the staff handled it gracefully and quickly replaced it. Once the new steak arrived, I was able to enjoy it with the perfectly seasoned fries, eggs, and a beautifully dressed arugula salad that I only wished I could’ve had alongside the steak from the start. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive—and the overall energy of the restaurant felt like a lively neighborhood favorite. It was packed both inside and out, so I’d definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. All in all, I’d rate Ruthie’s a solid 9 out of 10. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more from the menu.
First off, the food is amazingly good, well seasoned, and fast. The crispy wings are the best damn wings I had this year so far. The brisket is good however the chicken has the perfect amout of moisture. The cornbread is a must buy too. The real highlight of today's dinner was our Server JOHN. He is super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive too
My new go to when I'm visiting in this area. Tried the burger, cappuccino, and Oreo dessert. All incredible. Service by Nita was excellent 👍Good to see my home town coffee sold here.
Great breakfast place. If you're looking for bourbon they have an amazing selection.
This is a delightful breakfast/brunch place! There are fresh flowers everywhere, large glass windows, and a gorgeous outdoor patio. The menu is diverse with good options for vegetarians. Highly recommend the cornbread with sweet butter, as well as the donuts. Service was terrific as well!
This spot is just so good! I've been here several times now and have never been disappointed. Weekend brunch is where they shine but their weekday offerings are also delicious. It's a must-try if you love comfort food! Definitely make a reservation, even on a weekday. Noise level can be a little intense inside so if you're sensitive to that, I recommend outdoor seating.
I visited Ruthies All Day twice this past weekend, initially because of it's convenient location. Don't let the parking situation fool you, this place is fantastic! The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the brisket both times (yes, it really is that good). I would highly recommend this restaurant for families, couples, groups or special gatherings. On my first visit, I went with a group of six friends. We enjoyed the ambiance and delicious cocktails. The second night, I returned with family, including my 9-year old nephew. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate him by making a plain cheeseburger and even swapping out the bun because he doesn't like sesame seeds. As a parent, that kind of flexibility is a clear sign of a restaurant that is great with kids, even without a dedicated kids menu. They also offer a wide variety of sides, like mac and cheese, which would easily work as a kid-friendly meal. Portion sizes are generous and an excellent value for the price. I strongly recommend this restaurant and will absolutely be back.
The food is creative and delicious. They take a maximalist approach, so most options are big, rich, and heavy. But you always get a ton of flavor and everything is prepared well. If you go on a Saturday morning, make a reservation. You’ll generally only find bar seating (maybe), and the tables have usually all been reserved and there is no open seating left. Weekdays are more chill.
Ruthie’s All Day provided great service—everyone was very friendly and personable. The restaurant has a nice, cozy vibe. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and started with the deviled eggs and buffalo wings. We also tried a few cocktails from the bar. While the drinks weren’t watered down with too much ice (which we appreciated), they were a bit too light on the alcohol. For our mains, she ordered the burger and I had the brisket sandwich with crispy Brussels sprouts. The burger was average, and the brisket sandwich was just okay—the brisket was a little dry and overcooked. Overall, lunch was decent, and I wouldn’t mind coming back to try their breakfast or dinner to see how it compares.
Visited for a birthday brunch with a large group on a Saturday. We were promptly greeted and seated in one of the more private larger dining spaces. The food was great - came to our table promptly. The apple donuts are a must try especially during the fall and winter months. They are perfectly fried with real apple sauce inside that is just the right amount. I would definitely visit again for brunch. There is limited parking for Ruthie's and there is additional paid parking near in the apt/condo lot right next door to Ruthie's. $
First time coming here. Everyone was super polite and fast with their service! We really liked how happy all the employees looked working at this establishment. Hispanic speaking servers was a plus! The food was delicious!!! They had the 3 items/$25 so it was a little expensive for breakfast items but you can order heavier items during breakfast which is a plus. No kids menu so that was a definite 4 stars. All the food was very tasty and fresh! Right down to the breads and salads! The atmosphere is very welcoming, clean and tidy! We left happy and heavier haha. We will definitely come back again!!! 🖤
The apple pie pancakes were really good, the omelet was ok, and the brisket hash was not that good. The restaurant is cute, but very loud.
Good place to have breakfast. Very charm decoration. Try the hashbrown with your meal.
I recently visited Ruthie's All Day Restaurant with a friend for the first time, and we had a pleasant experience overall. The atmosphere was bustling and inviting, with a casual, family-friendly feel that makes you feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal. We started with the Tea Refresher, but found it way too sweet for our tastes. Our server had mentioned it was on the sweeter side, but we weren't expecting it to be as sweet as it was. While we appreciated the ginger and mint flavor, it was just too much. We switched to unsweetened teas, which was a better fit for us. It would be great if Ruthie's could offer a less sweet version of this drink, perhaps by reducing the amount of flavored syrup. As for the food, it was quite enjoyable. I particularly loved the skillet cornbread and crispy smoked cauliflower, both cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. My sides, braised collards and crispy Brussels sprouts, were also delicious and generously portioned. I ended up taking a lot of food home, and my family enjoyed the leftovers. My friend savored the grilled Gulf shrimp with grits and greens, which she found delightful. For dessert, I opted for the peanut butter cheesecake, which was a limited special. Unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The cheesecake was too salty and the crust was too soft and mushy. I had hoped for a more pronounced peanut butter flavor and a better overall texture. On the other hand, my friend enjoyed her apple cobbler. While our overall experience was positive, there were a couple of drawbacks. The restaurant was busy, and there was a long wait to place our orders after receiving our waters. Additionally, I noticed an overcharge on my bill a few days later. I opened a dispute with my bank, and it was quickly resolved, but it was an inconvenience. Despite these issues, I would still recommend Ruthie's All Day Restaurant. They don't offer many vegan options, so I might not return for that reason, but for non-vegans, there are plenty of dishes to try and enjoy!
Went at 330 on a Saturday. The atmosphere is lovely, open and airy, beautiful flowers on the table. Great barbecue and delicious fried. Chopped Salad huge and tasty. Butterscotch pudding yum!!! Our server was slow and we had to wait to order for longer than appropriate. But it was around a shift change i think. Will definitely return.
Parking!! Expansive menu. I ordered the big brisket and sausage Sammy with fries. Great bark on the brisket but overall the sandwich was dry (even after adding bbq sauce) and the sausage had to be removed. The fries were fresh, crispy and wonderful as was the braised greens. I will return for the ribs
The service was top tier. We came around 5ish. Ordered the brisket, crispy cauliflower with fries and mac, and the fried chicken sandwich with fries. Dessert: Warm Apple Cobbler. Would come back to try other items. I was under the impression that breakfast was served all day but not the case. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, and it's within a neighborhood that gives a nice mom and pop feel.
I ordered a flat white and it was one of the best flat whites I’ve had… definitely better than a lot of coffee shops. The cornbread tasted fine but it was too dry. It looked great, but I wouldn’t order it again. I ordered Ruthie’s Big Plate as my entrée. The bacon was delicious and perfectly cooked and the eggs were great. The potatoes were meh and could have used more seasoning. I thought the beef sausage tasted kind of weird but that’s just personal preference. The biscuits were good, but not great. Overall, it was fine, but I had slightly higher expectations based on all of the amazing reviews.
Been here before and it was worth coming back. But today was not the day. If this was my first time coming I would never come back. The server treated us like the step child no one wanted. She was snappy, ignored us, and utterly only provided service because being the lone table not being serviced would draw too much attention. And the food was meh. The smoked brisket was like licking an ash tray. I won’t be coming back for awhile if at all.
A friend and I had breakfast here on Sunday, 12/28, around 11am. We had a reservation and were seated fairly quickly. We ordered our meals and everything was going well until a woman (blonde, short hair), who was not our server, came over to clear our plates and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. We said yes and asked to look over the options, at which point she responded, “Okay, but we really need to clear this table out soon.” This caught us off guard because if the intention was to rush us, it felt inappropriate to offer dessert in the first place. As paying customers, we should be able to finish our meal without feeling pressured. We went ahead and ordered dessert, and while we were in the middle of eating it, another staff member (again, not our server) approached us and asked if we could move to an outdoor table so they could have ours, despite it being freezing outside. It was extremely surprising and uncomfortable to be rushed away mid-meal. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I fully understand the importance of turning tables efficiently. However, that responsibility should never fall on the guest. Table turnover is an internal operational matter for management and staff, not something that should be communicated, or felt, by customers who are actively dining. If the establishment is unable to handle an influx of guests, stronger internal processes should be implemented to improve table turnover, rather than placing that burden on guests. This experience was extremely disappointing, and the blunt, rushed, and unwelcoming treatment will definitely make me hesitant to return or recommend this restaurant to others.
