Perfect adult date night spot! My fiancé and I went on Sunday evening and it was great. The service was speedy and efficient. Plenty of unique cocktail and food options; very reasonably priced given the quantity and quality we were served. I’ve been thinking about their Mason Carbonara made with pork belly all week! Can’t wait to come back soon!

Great high end restaurant in the village. Their cocktails were top shelf and they have a great beer selection. The food was on the pricey side but you do get what you pay for. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly. There was plenty of seating for large or small groups. We will be going here again on our next date night.

My husband and I shared farm salad and New Zealand rack of lamb. The kitchen split the dishes for us, which is really thoughtful. Both dishes tasted amazing.

I came here with my fiance for Valentines day and it did not disappoint. We were immediately seated, even a little before our reservation time, promptly and politely greeted by staff and our Server Tristan was absolutely fantastic. Super upbeat and extremely knowledgeable about food and drinks along with pairing. He was more than happy to answer any questions we had and made the whole dining experience that much better. The food was 10/10, i ordered the filet mignon special they had and my fiancé ordered the flat iron, and it was probably the best meal I have ever had.

We had a wonderful experience with Tom as our server. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and upbeat! Everything we had was amazing but particularly, the brussel sprouts and the short rib were phenomenal. For dessert, the bread pudding cannot be beat! 10/10 recommend.

My wife and I finally got a baby sitter and had two hours. We live close so we took an Uber. Fast service, Water without asking, perfect size menu of food, even more perfect drinks menu. Two drinks and an app about 45-55 not including tip. Great service, Great food.

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Had brunch there on Sunday with a friend and the atmosphere was great, the food was delightful, and the staff was just so friendly. My friend had several cocktails which he said were amazing and I had the egg and sausage breakfast sandwich which was really good. I haven't had many places that do breakfast with crispy fingerling potatoes, but I love the idea and it was well executed. They kept my coffee cup full the entire time I was there and all in all I just had a really good time.

Classy bar / bistro with some great booze selections to choose from. Bartender made me a proper New York sour and a tasty 'paper plate' for a spirit animal. Staff at the bar were friendly and on point. Beef tartar was delicious. I'd definitely go back

Went for a Christmas work dinner. Waiters were very pleasant and friendly in spite of our large group. Very personable main waiter made the experience a good one. Food was excellent both the appetizers and entrees. Drinks were very good as well. Place is dark lighting, red brick which makes for a nicer feeling meal.

Our server Morgan was awesome!! She was attentive, funny and friendly. She cut my birthday cake and boxed it back up for us. All the food was amazing!!!! Highly recommend the risotto balls. So good. Drinks and atmosphere were on point too!

Really enjoyed the great ambiance and service of this place. Looks small from outside but really opens up when you walk in. The crispy skin salmon and the Etti (I think) pasta was excellent. The sausage had fennel in it which adds another dimension to the flavor. Definitely recommend!

Excellent service. There were many.gluten free options. The chef here clearly has an imagination and has put together an excellent and very unique menu. Pictured are the oak barrel aged bourbons, pistachio encrusted brie with wonderful herbed focaccia and blood orange marmalade, and the oven roasted brussel sprouts with cotija cheese and cilantro aioli. So good, very unique.

This restaurant looks so nice on the inside. Unfortunately, I did not make a reservation and was sat in the outside seating area. I was surprised with how nice they made it look! I ordered the Jalapeño margarita which was so good I'm salivating as I wrote this. For dinner I ordered the Salmon which was so tender it came apart smoothly and I cleaned off the plate! Dessert I had the brownie topped with ice cream and garnished with fruit. I will definitely be going back, this time with a reservation for that nice indoor seating.

The food and atmosphere was excellent. The wait staff is very nice, efficient and attentive. I had the New York steak and it was delicious. However, this is a costly restaurant. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but this is not a cheap or moderately priced steakhouse. Expect a large check.

This place was amazing! Started with Lobster Corndogs (only picture I have) and ended with the best steak ever! I did order the basic steak which came with regular fries. If you can trade those for the fingerling potatoes I suggest that. Or just order the more expensive steak. However, the sherry sauce my steak came in was delicious!! Great vibe there, you can tell the locals love to hang out there.

Went to this restaurant tonight (group of 12). I orders the grilled albacore tostada and it was delicious. Everyone in the party that was on my end of the table enjoyed their meal as well. Our server David, was professional, very helpful explaining menu options and very patient with our group. I highly recommend!

Nicely decorated restaurant with seating next to an indoor fireplace, there is outside & bar seating as well. Good menu selection reasonably priced with a large wine list. The Brussel Sprout appetizer was amazing and very shareable among four people. The service was good.

SO GOOD! I've been here a few time now and have not been disappointed! Cool atmosphere, attentive servers, and delicious food! Seriously want to try everything on their menu because each bite I've had so far is amazing. Ive had the grilled cheese, a pasta primavera special, the chicken snitchel sandwhich, the pork tacos, and the seabass. Lunch menu differs from dinner and is a bit more affordable but they use a lot of local ingredients so you are paying for quality and supporting the community. Highly recommend!

A nice "local flavor" bar with many local wine types on tap. We have noticed this place for a while and decided to stop by for lunch, quite delightful, sitting in the open air part of the bar,. We had the pork tacos and the Brussel sprouts, split between both of us, along with a good 1/2 carafe of red wine.. All in all very good. Just right for two of us.

Good place to come for a fine dinner. Atmosphere is good with Alternative music in background. Had the New Zealand rack of lamb chops. Real good. Complimented with Zotovich Estate Pinot Noir. Im sure it would be good with any red wine. Good place to come for drinks and talk with friends. They have good selection of food. Even vegan, if you into that. My husband and I were at the Mason Bar and Kitchen as part of a pre-planned seminar. There was a limited menu for the group, however, the options were well represented. We are vegetarians and there were several great choices. Both were delicious and substantial. The dessert, a brownie with vanilla ice cream, was the best. The restaurant atmosphere for the seminar was comfortable. We have never been to Mason Bar, but definitely will return for another meal.

Wait staff phenomenal!!!( loved them all!!!) Food killer!!! A couple of fams with out of control screaming kids made it hard to converse with my 80 year young friend who’s soft spoken… that was a bummer… parents need some spacial awareness… But we would come back Please tell the wait staff hi from Tap😁😁😁

Great space in the Village. Excellent beer selection, pretty interesting menu, though somewhat limited and pricey. Portion sizes could be improved. Super friendly staff. Update: Brunch! Best eggs Benedict in the county! The little red hen sourdough is awesome. Excellent potatoes. We recommend adding sourdough waffles, or another griddle offering for brunch. Love this place.

Worth the wait. It was a Saturday night and we waited about 30 minutes but we were able to order and have drinks outside while we waited. Then got seated and sat at basic rental tables and chairs surrounded by a large tent. Its pandemic style so it is what it is but they had really good heaters so at least you're toasty. One thing that stood out was the food and service. The staff was on point, especially our server Jarred. He was friendly and made perfect recommendations. Starting with the off menu cocktail to the steak hack entree and ending with the right stout and bread pudding.

The steak was very good and cesar salad was fresh with white anchovies mixed in. On busy weekends make reservations it helps. Great service. Thank you, the food was tops for our second visit which was two years ago.

We experienced Mason for the first time on Friday Feb 6. What an expe! The food was fantastic I had the carnitas tacos and a side salad of greens. My husband had the short rib sandwich to which he added mushrooms. He also had sweet potato fries and butternut squash soup. My carnitas weren't "traditional" in that they weren't "crispy", however I was not expecting them to be since we were NOT ar a Mexican restaurant. They were however delicious! With a bit of cumin and garlic their flavor was definitely Hispanic. The tortillas were really good with the corn texture and flavor. I wanted another one because of the taste but was completely satisfied with the two (lunch) the meat was juicy, flavorful and there was plenty of it! The salad was soooo good. I was expecting a typical green salad drenched in oil or lemon. But thus was NOT that it had a lemon juice with fresh dill and it was just the right amount and made the greens just so refreshing!! The sandwich my husband had was delicious. The meat was savory and tender and well balanced with the blue cheese, arugula caramelized onion, aioli and wine. My husband added mushrooms which ended up being shitake. He called it satisfyingly messy!! We both thought if it was this good for lunch, we will come again for dinner. The service was excellent. Both servers were engaging and attentive. This was such a treat. We used a Groupon but would gladly pay the price.

Everyone loved what they ordered. The fennel crusted ahi, the ahi tostada, and the short rib dinners were raved about. I tried "The Hive" cocktail with gin, elderberries, and honey and loved it. We were a large group who had to attend a performance. They got us out in time and were very gracious. Definitely can't wait to go back. Prices were appropriate for this quality of experience. Very inviting and comfortable atmosphere, and had it's own parking lot.

The best place in AG. Get the wagyu steak it’s fantastic. Even bought a jacket because my niece married a man with the last name Mason. The bar tenders know how to make a dirty martini and this place has reasonable prices for the quality of their service and food.

I've lived in Texas and Tennessee and I've yet to find a restaurant that has better food, service or atmosphere. Anytime my family visits from out of town, they always want to go to Mason! Originally, went in for the bone marrow that was on the menu. My boyfriend loves bone marrow. Come to find out, they changed their menu about a month ago, which was a bit disappointing. BUT everything we had was delicious. The service was awesome. We were well taken care of. If you enjoy strong drinks, this is the place to go lol they were good either way. Will definitely return.

Trendy new American restaurant right in Arroyo Grande downtown village. Salmon was both delicious and cooked perfectly. Scallops also delicious. Crab cakes could have used more meat v flour. YES! My new favorite place to eat on the California Centrak Coast. The Rib-Eye is incredible, the chicken sando is great and the salads are likely some of the best of any local restaurant. Their craft cocktail game is super strong and they also make a killer Bloody Mary... Currently offers Outdoor seating for Covid social distancing.

Our 1st time at the kitchen and we were impressed! !! The service was slow to get our order in but the food came out fast. We ordered the wedge salad. Amazing! And both fish options. The ocean trout and the toothfish. For living in a small town this was a treat. The flavors worked well together giving you the taste of wanting more. Well worth the price. Most restaurants in the area are boring with the same menu (rice pilaf and steamed veggies) this restaurant took it to a new level. Yum! I will definitely be back! Thank you chef for giving us quality food with food network flavor.

The food was very good, but what made the meal was the exceptional service. Our waiter was always attentive. Drinks were refilled before you could ask. Questions about the menu were answered accurately - and our food was placed on the table care.

Great selection of fine whiskey and other liquors. Stopped in with a friend for a couple drinks during a festival and we had a great time. Bar tender crew was very nice and on, the main Tender knew his stuff and was helpful in reviewing fun options to try. We didn't have any food so we can't speak to that aspect, but the atmosphere was classy ranch, relaxing and enjoyable. We enjoyed a couple drinks, a little football and got back to the Family fun. Great spot, definitely recommend popping in to check it out.

Ordered the Italian bass (it's called something else with bass). The fish itself was great, soft and tender yet not slimy or where it would shred apart once you cut into it. The pasta was also right texture with the cheese not overpowering or too light that you wished for more. What I did feel was lacking was flavor to the pasta through more powerful herbs or condiments or something. Brussel sprouts were okay but I was able to eat a few of them, so they were the best I've ever tasted. Host was super excellent, waiters seemed be be slacking a bit. I spent like 10 minutes without water (though I did not call them, but they passed by my twice)

I've been wanting to try this place for a little while and enjoyed a couple small plates and drinks before dinner. We ordered the Masone Pork Belly Salad and the Brussel Sprouts Starter with a Gin Fizz. The food and ambiance was delicious. The brussel sprouts starter is a hearty platter of sprouts with a cotija cream sauce; it was a little overly fatty and creamy but quite tasty overall with just a hint of spice from the peppers. The chop salad had a great balance of dressing and lettuce, and the pork belly was very crispy with just a hint of salt allowing the pork flavor to be the star. The Gin Fizz cocktail was made with elderberry and an egg white foam, but it was way too sweet for my tastes and traded it out for a whisky scotch on the rocks.

Seated quickly, super excellent service, reasonable pricing (more $$$ than $$). FYI - Menu online is old. We were looking forward to a couple of things that are no longer available but what we got was excellent. Not a lot of vegetarian options tho.

Generally I enjoy the food here. Do not go by the menu online as it is no longer valid, so we had to make other choices when there. We did not have a reservation so we were seated on the bar side. Our server Ryan was great. I ordered the pork chop and my husband ordered the Branzino. He really enjoyed his meal. I was excited for the pork chop but was disappointed that it was a very fatty chop- @49.00 I was hoping for more pork. It was fat throughout without much meat. Yuck. As we were just visiting I will probably not be revisiting.

Quite a fun place to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night. I have been there for dinner, but as a vegetarian I wasn’t very happy with the food. The cocktails are good and strong. The music can sometimes be really bizarre. The crowd is older, which is nice as most places in SLO are full of college students so it’s nice to have a place that caters to an older crowd. Will be back for the drinks 🍹

Mason Bar is definitely a great place to dine, I went here for my birthday. However there are some minor drawbacks to this location I'd like to list. We ordered the famous Lobster Corn Dogs (which is listed as an appetizer) and surprisingly it wasn't the best thing we ate at Mason. You'd expect it to be the top seller and best food, but surprisingly it's just a good appetizer. The service was very good during my experience, waiters were fast and friendly. Inside, the restaurant is very clean, although I wish they had more lighting. Overall I'd recommend! (Also if you order mussels, don't add pasta unless you're EXTREMELY hungry. it's a lot of food!)

I promise you won't go hungry here. But you might go broke because you'll want to order one of everything! Signature cocktails, handmade pastas, everything is fresh and portions are large. Lobster corn dogs are amazing. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. I would have given it 5 stars except we had an unusually long wait for having reservations.

The service and ambience were really good, and the food was good. I wish the chicken had a little bit more of a flavor infused. Quantity was large, I had it for 2 meals. The potatoes, sauce everything else was good. My friend had a Birthday, and the complementary cake was amazing !! They had amazing cauliflower started. My friends liked the seafood starters as well. Overall it is a good experience, i wish i could give all five stars!

Very chill and nice waiters. Good and strong cocktails. I’m gonna try this place again and get the vibes from inside. 2022: Really good food and the inside is so nice and cozy. Loved the Brussels sprouts! Lavender blues cocktail wasn’t that good.

Food was so good! Breakfast burrito was one of the best I've ever had hands down! Our server was the opposite. You could tell he was not happy to be at work, was very short with us with all questions/requests. He reached over my plate, while I was still eating, to refill my friends water. So if you want great food ams subpar service, head on down and get that breakfast burrito!

I've been there for dinner a few months ago and I loved it, but I just went back for lunch and was very disappointed. Food was ok (except for homemade fried which are not good) but ambiance was the worst. It was raining cats and dogs outside and we were wet and cold, we were told the room with the fireplace was not open and we were seated in the room with the bar. That room was at 65 degrees (I know it as the thermostat on the wall showed that's what they kept it at). Food is way less enjoyable when you're wet and shivering.

We have gone to Mason for years. Mostly sit on the bar side. Interior is great and service is always solid but the menu changes quite a bit and the prices are now out of control in my opinion. You start going other places when you lose your favorite options and have to pay alot more for things you don't prefer.

luke-warm soup & the biscuits also couldn't. melt tbe butter. Yukon gold potato's okay, salad was just pulled from a bag & placed on a plate and the "bar" appetizer of almonds and olives arrived at the END of the meal and they were the only thing that was HOT. We are only here for tbe night but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that l LIKE. The place looks nice, but looks can be deceiving. Sorry folks, not great.

My first impression as I sat down at the bar, that I smelled old stale beer on the floor. Floor or bar top didn't smell clean. Service by the attendance bartender and the waitress was excellent. Ordered the soup out of the appetizer menu. It looked like it had been sitting for a while and tasted as if it's not food to eat. The taste was burnt. There was bacon bits in it that were flat and tasted like they weren't supposed to be there. I also ordered two muffins off the appetizer menu. They were superb. I had a beer from the tap which tasted flat and it was warm. And frankly, it just wasn't a very good tasting beer. My experience would have been great except or the bad soup? And the smell and the beer. The final straw was when I got sick in the middle of the night and threw up all of that soup. It was clearly something that was not meant to be eaten. Lastly, the place was seriously expensive. I paid $45 for the two least expensive items on the menu and one beer for one person. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Had shrimp tacos, supposed to be 4 shrimp per taco, got three on one of them … but they were cooked well and the minimal amount of slaw was delicious. Prices are a little bit high. A double burger with a side of fries is $20. A BLTA with a side of fries is $27. 🙄🤷‍♀️ UPDATE DECEMBER 2024: They changed their menu AGAIN! And the service is sub-par.

The turkey and red pepper sandwich was dry as a bone. The burger overcooked. Too bad, but thankfully, there are plenty of restaurants in the area.

So I don’t think we will be back. We ordered the lobster dogs for the appetizer, but they were sold out, so that was a downer, because the guy at the bar was eating some and they looked good. We settled for the yellowfin duo appetizer which was awful. It was dry and tasteless and the other round thing was just gross. Would not order again. For our entree, we ordered the Spice Roasted Delicata Squash dish and it was edible but I would not describe it as “good.” Same with the Mason Carbonara (we substituted the pork with mushrooms). The pasta was hard and the sauce bland. We both took two bites and that was it, because it was simply awful. On the bright side, the restaurant design was very nice albeit very dark. I had to shine my iPhone flashlight so my husband could see our bill. We liked the garage door windows to the outside. I wouldn’t recommend our server either, and it took nearly an hour to get our entrees, and that at 8pm on a Sunday night, well after busy dinner traffic.

I like odd flavor combos... but these clashed... Flavors were poorly put together.... and just bland overall... Only offered boiled chicken with my pasta.. no grilled.. which is weird...im supposed to believe they boiled me up some fresh chicken.. instead of grilling it? Also very loud... nice for groups.. not for date night.

Worst drink I’ve had in my life. If you want an authentic flatliner go to Aida’s or Giuseppe’s. Had to cancel my dessert because I tried 2 sips of this. Waitress didn’t even think to ask why I was leaving without even drinking it. Still paid tho.

Sadly, Disappointing. We used to go to Mason's on a fairly regular basis. Our latest visit will be our last. The food prices have gotten far too high - the lowest priced entree is $30, a pork chop is $52. As an added bonus, the service from the waiter was absolutely TERRIBLE. He spent 90% of his time talking to one table and his excuse was that they were "regulars." I normally tip 25% to 30% - he's the first person in years I tipped 5% (it was that bad). Like I stated above, sadly, we won't be returning

The atmosphere and decor of the place was great. The food was incredibly bland and over priced. Our server clearly didn’t want to be there, she made her annoyance very obvious at our requests and was extremely rude.
