It was lovely! The ambience and experience are much more upscale than I expected. The food was delicious. The cocktails were fantastic. Highly highly recommended!
If you visit Aspen you must have a meal here, won’t be disappointed. We had a lot of things and is had to say which one was the best, you must try at least one pizza, we had the cheese and truffle and the chorizo and avocado and they were spectacular, I think I’ll never get a pizza like this one until I return there. The truffle cacio and Pepe pasta is great and watermelon salad a must. The only thing I personally didn’t liked were the calamari rings with chorizo, but my family loved them.
This place is excellent! The bruschetta appetizer was like some kind of delicious rustic flatbread, the veggies all tasted incredibly fresh, and the proteins/pasta dish portion sizes were surprisingly generous. Martina and our other server (female, Argentinian) were both absolutely wonderful, so kind and welcoming to us including our very large dog who accompanied us to dinner!
Relatively “cheap” Italian food in Aspen. $33 for a small plate of delicious spaghetti and meatballs isn’t a bad deal in this expensive tourist town. The food was quite filling for such tiny portions though. I was not disappointed at all. Highly recommend to those looking for a late night Italian dinner. We walked in around 8pm without reservations and only had a short 5 minute wait to be seated. It was crowded inside. Staff were super friendly and service was quick. I do recommend reserving a time slot if you know for sure you will be eating here. But it seemed like walk ins were mostly accommodated. Great little local restaurant with decently priced dinners relative to the rest of Aspen.
A go-to local spot in Aspen. Perfect for any occasion. I never come here without going. Everything, but the pizza specifically is literally some of the best I’ve had ever- cravable. Trust. Cozy atmosphere, always incredibly welcoming service. Insane wine list. Highly recommend! Do not sleep on this special spot.
Excellent service, excellent atmosphere and delicious food 10/10. Bryan excellent waiter
Absolutely perfect! This is now on our list of the best Italian restaurants forever. The food, environment, service, and drinks were absolutely outstanding. The food was very well served and presented with different herbs, sauces, and more to make it look like art. The taste was perfect; for example, the crème was perfect. The sugar on top was just hard enough to add a bit of crunch and still be able to melt in your mouth. The Veal Scaloppine was also very delicious, with a refreshing taste to balance out the rich, smooth fried calamari. The best calamari we’ve ever had as well. The service was very cohesive and well timed; when you finish the food in front of you quite quickly, a runner takes your plate and replaces it. Absolutely fantastic overall and highly recommended for anyone looking for a great experience. 9/10
After reading the reviews is was skeptical. But I like to make my own decisions. Me and my family went here for dinner and it was great. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were big. Service was also on point. The only thing I would say is change the music to Italian or something more soothing and dim the lights a little. Other than that it was top notch.
The first time we stopped at Aspen on a roadtrip we were looking for a place for dinner. It appears that many restaurants do not have a specific closing time and by the time we arrived (8-9pm) there were many places already closed. We ended up picking a spot based on how packed it was and Acquolina was it! As other restaurant had 1-2 small tables filled, Acquolina was packed! It did not disappoint, their grilled calamari is what keeps us coming back! They cooked their seafood perfectly, the chorizo was not an overpowering flavor and complimented the dish well.
This was our one year anniversary celebration and it was DELICIOUS. We started with a Negroni and Old Fashioned, both house barrel aged. Then shared a Rollino, basically the best fancy mushroom arugula and mozzarella calzone you’ve ever had. With a fresh AF arugula salad in the middle. My husband had lasagna and I ordered from the seasonal Black Truffle menu… get outta town. So good. The ambiance was cool, upbeat, fresh. I mean, the host had a turntable on their stand and she was rocking Fergalicious. Would recommend.
The atmosphere here was nice and you could feel it was a good restaurant. I had the pappardelle with lamb ragù and the pasta was so fresh. The meat and the flavors were tasty. The only bad thing was when they asked what water we wanted and we asked for Fiji water. They came with a bottle and with one more when that one was empty. We didn’t ask for more water and felt we were tricked into paying for two 10 dollar bottles. I wished they would have told us before. Otherwise overall good experience. Not so many vegetarian options, wish for more.
Lots of options of cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Multiple vegetarian options. Capra pizza was uniquely delicious. Nice music selection playing in background. Fast service. Overall, an enjoyable Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Aspen.
The experience here was amazing! The food was excellent and the service was top notch! I would highly recommend Acquolina to anyone looking for a great dining experience! The rigatoni was probably the best I've ever had. I will definitely return.
Amazing Italian food! Pizza is super thin and crispy, pastas are delicious. The veal special was great, too! Wine selection is excellent, and fabulous desserts! One of the best in Aspen
Everything was beyond amazing here. The bartender was the best, and he recommended some amazing whiskeys. The owner stopped by to ask how everything was tasting, and we felt like part of the family here. Would definitely recommend!!!!
Fantastic food and a very welcoming and professional staff. We had thin crust pizza, trout and chicken parm. All delicious. The drinks were excellent too! We highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was terrific. Wine list and array of international brands of liquor is hard to beat. Excellent service in a upscale yet cozy setting.
Stellar service and a liquor selection that rivals anything I have seen in Colorado. Ask for Ethan if you sit at the bar.
Delicious food, great service, and an overall amazing way to celebrate our first night in Aspen! Reservations are strongly recommended! They were more than willing to accommodate buttered noodles with chicken for my son (no kid's menu). We got the mussels, fried calamari, lamb chops, risotto of the day, and a couple other pasta dishes (all delicious). To finish off, highly recommend the hazelnut mousse and tiramisu.
If you are in Aspen, please visit this wonderful restaurant for dinner. The food is heavenly, attention to detail, wine selection is amazing, bartenders are knowledgeable about cocktails, and how to serve them. Treat yourself to an enjoyable meal with a fantastic chef, and staff, you will not be disappointed.
Acquolina has been renovated. They did a fabulous job. They maintained their elegance but with a transitional flair. The rooms are beautiful and the views of the ocean are just fantastic. I’l Mulino is a great Italian restaurant. Elegant but friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious. I love that they accommodated me with gluten free pasta. Always very appreciative for this accommodation.
I dined at Acquolina on a recent trip to Aspen. Our whole party enjoyed the meals we shared and decided that it was our favorite meal of the trip. Our server was friendly and food came promptly. I'd recommend the veal ravioli and the gnocchi. Both were incredibly rich and featured high-quality meats. Prices were fairly high, but comparable to other restaurants in Aspen of a similar caliber. Portions were larger than I expected, too. My one complaint is that my friend's birthday dessert was not comped or discounted by the restaurant, which I found a bit odd.
We’ve been going to Aspen for these past few years around New Year’s, and one of the restaurants we always make sure to return to (multiple times) during our visit is Acquolina. We absolutely love the amazing food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the always friendly service there! Last year, we even spent our New Year’s Eve with them and it was the best decision we could’ve made. We had such a blast and couldn’t have had better plans for NYE! We certainly didn’t leave hungry and as usual, Acquolina’s staff made us feel like we were part of their family. The staff is very attentive, personable, and hard working whenever we visit! We love sitting at the bar, but we also love sitting a table too - both are great experiences that you literally can’t go wrong with. We are very excited to return to Aspen and especially Acquolina later this year!
I enjoyed my dining experience here. The food was phenomenal and had a large menu with many options. The special shrimp and mushroom risotto was delicious, as well as a top shelf espresso martini. The night was not complete without a delicious tiramisu! Family friendly environment. Friendly and efficient service.
I read all the reviews before reserving because we were only in Aspen for 1 night celebrating our anniversary and wanted to make the most of it. I'm very particular about good food and good atmosphere so after a recommendation from a local, my partner and I decided to go to Acquolina. We were late driving into town and called to say we were running 15-30 mins behind. No problem they said which is great because many places will not hold your reservation more than 20 mins. We made reservations at the bar and the bartender was very friendly out of the gate, laughing with us about parking and interested in making sure we had a nice evening. He make excellent recommendations on both food and drinks, and checked in on us regularly to make sure all was well. I had the fish special and it came with a veggie side. The entire staff anticipated our needs and we left feeling very happy with our experience. (we did not tell them it was a special occasion) Many people gave 2 stars based on how expensive it was, and yes, it is an upscale dining establishment in Aspen. If you read the menu beforehand, you will know that. As far as the portion size goes, I thought it was perfect. My partner who eats significantly more than I do, also agreed, which was a relief because that was my only trepidation. I'm so glad we chose this place to celebrate and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice night out.
The perfect pace of service. From appetizers through dessert, everything was perfection. The food was so flavorful and authentic. Our server, Dominik, took care of us with attention to detail and made our friends birthday special. The entire staff was on point.
This is pretty close to the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy. Service is excellent.
Stopped by here for dinner the other night and very much enjoyed our dinner! We made reservations but only found to be seated outside, which was fine because it was beautiful out! The serve and busser were very attentive with refills and clearing our table. We got the Caesar salad, which was good! Our main dishes were the pepperoni pizza, which was not spicy but was very delicious! Very thin crust with great flavor, you could tell the sauce was very fresh and not from a can. My gf got the ravioli which was amazing, but it ended up costing $62 because she got upsold on the truffle which was another $24! But we rely enjoyed the food, service and eating outside with so much going on. I would come back here again if in town!
Brayan have done an excellent service, he was such a gentleman with me and all my family. Helped us trying to find all the best food and drinks in the menu, and was very attentive in all aspects. Best experience!! Will come back looking for this kind of service, thanks to Brayan 🇨🇴!!
The food is fantastic!! It doesn't matter what you get; it will all be amazing. The service is what you would expect for the price. My wife is gluten free and still loves their pasta. The servers are very aware of what makes specific dishes gluten and are happy to accommodate. We don't have to wait for a table because we make reservations each time. The restaurant is a little dark for my taste and space is definitely tight.
We had a great experience at Acquolina. It's nice restaurant located right off the main street in Aspen. Service and ambience were great. We arrived right as soon as it opened so it wasn't too busy but it picked up pretty quick. The food was some of the best I've had. The lasagna I ordered was small but tasty. It's quite pricey here (as expected for a restaurant in Aspen) so be prepared to spend more than usual, especially if you're getting drinks. Otherwise, I recommend stopping here if you're craving Italian cuisine.
Really nice Italian-style restaurant, the appetizers were great and tasty, the entrees were good... the drinks were great!
Lovely dining experience. Great service, and fun music. Very busy! A wonderful array of liquors and beverages.
friendly staff, good services and good food. variety menu of appetizers and pasta. the bar is also full and variety of alcohol and liquor
The meat is so tender and delicious! Highly recommend! The margaritas were nothing special though
One of the last remaining moderately affordable upscale dining experiences remaining in Aspen. We sat at the bar and received timely and friendly service from the bartender, food was delivered quickly and was delicious. Reservations are required even to sit at the bar, and there's a $75 cancellation fee per person which was the only thing that somewhat took away from the experience.
Food was so so. Not authentic Italian. Crowded restaurants. Tables on top of each other and majority of tables were high tops.
After many years of summers in Aspen this is our first visit. I heard great things and was underwhelmed in both food and service. Doubtful we will be returning.
After reading so many glowing reviews, we were expecting exceptional Italian. Unfortunately we were met by mediocre dishes. For $50+, you’d expect fresh pasta but it was disappointingly either overcooked or out of a box. Watermelon salad was the best thing we ate. Overall disappointed in what we expected to be an excellent Aspen dinner.
The food here was adequate, but very average and definitely didn’t live up to the price tag or hype. There as so many options in Aspen that are much better at a similar price (ie. Wild Fig - our meal there was truly out of this world). This place was in line with any average Italian restaurant half its price, but did not live up to the expectations of an Aspen fine dining experience. For your money, there are better options nearby.
Extremely overpriced, especially the wine list. I asked for a small side of pasta to go with my chicken Parmesan and I was charged for an additional entree. Staff doesn’t listen well and the sommelier was very smug. There are a lot better places to go in Aspen.
They attempted to silently overcharged me by $2 from my credit card bill, which was disgusting. Am disputing with Amex with the photo of the signed check. Other than that, we had great experience dining there. The food was fast and tasty.
This was an overall disappointing experience. We ordered the burrata, ciabatta and watermelon salad to start. My partner ordered Chicken Parmesan and I ordered the Spaghetti with beef and veal meatballs as my entrée. The starters were decent, but the entrees were extremely disappointing. The pasta was over cooked and under seasoned. The meatballs were similarly bland and lacked flavor. The chicken parm was unmemorable. The drinks are over priced even for Aspen. Skip it.
Very disappointed given the ratings this place receives. The gnocchi was overcooked and the marinara overpowered the meager veal and beef in the ragu. The calamari suffered similarly from poor marinara. The veal scaloppine was like leather which they tried to hide with an weird mustard flavor in the sauce. Perhaps it was an end of season problem, but all in all it was not worth price. We did have delicious wine though. Will definitely not return.
Ok, so chicken Parmesan, $46 for one little piece of chicken. No sides, nothing. Very disappointed because there’s a lot better options for chicken in town. Never again
We were really looking forward to a nice meal but the restaurant is crowded and really hot. Our Appetizer was delicious but our diners were not 😩 my pasta was under cooked and my husband trout was cooked on a egg batter that made taste like you were eating an omelette. 😳 not a good night. Service was amazing!
Overpriced, under-performing, no bread at table, everything in the menu was overpriced for the quality delivered. Especially the wine list is beyond crazy price to quality. Will not come back many better places to go in Aspen.
Used to be a good value but prices have gone up and they've implemented a draconian 48 hour cancellation policy which they apply with a rude rigidity. I was looking forward to dining there recently but my wife got sick and we couldn't show. I called them 28 hours before our reservation and was charged $150 for that courtesy (even though they could obviously see from OpenTable that I've been visiting the restaurant every time I come to Aspen for years and I have never been a no-show). Frankly they're jerks about it and I won't be giving them any more of my money. Life's too short to deal with people like that. Now that their prices are as high as all the other fancy Italian places in town there's literally no reason to patronize them anyway.
Acquolina Aspen is blatantly stealing from its customers. We followed their policy and canceled well over 48 hours in advance, yet they still robbed us of $225 because we had “modified our reservation” once. This is a predatory scam, and we—along with every friend we have—are finished with this place forever. Stay away unless you enjoy being defrauded by management. We will definitely dispute this charge.
Food was terrible. Their Chicken Parm appeared to be fried well in advance and then fried again when ordered. The breading was coming off with every bite and the seasoning appeared to be out of a box, watch brings me to my second point. 18 bucks for a side of mashed potatoes that was 100% out of a box. Th prices are absolutely outrageous or what you get in return. Stay Away!!!
