I tried their Hot Nashville fried chicken sandwich with the Carolina Reaper sauce and it was a 10/10 I’d recommend their spicy sandwiches here if you a spicy lover like me
This place is awesome!! The cashier was quite the super energetic and enthusiastic dude. The sandwich that I got, the Foghorn's Country Chicken, was sooo messy but insanely delicious, and littered with chicken crispyness. The Purple People Eater shake was also just amazing. Not too sweet, but sweet, thick, and flavourful enough to have satisfaction in every sip.
This is a weird review, because I'm a wedding photographer commenting on how great Comfortland's people and store are. But!... I'm based in CT as a wedding photographer. An NYC wedding couple of mine are huge fans of Comfortland, to the point that they wanted to take some of their engagement photos there. The staff helped them set it up! On the day of the session, my [new] man James Avatar, who is a manager there and responsible for much of Comfortland's artistic direction as I understand it, greeted us and helped with the shoot. Overall, Comfortland's staff were so accommodating for helping to make this happen. So why didn't we eat? Well, all of this took place on a day when Comfortland happened to be closed. So the meals I drooled over while looking at their menu online continue to just be a dream for me. But the next time I'm in the city I'm heading to Comfortland. You should do the same!
What's better than homie vibes, hospitality, great uniquely crafted eats, JAMES AVATAR, superb social media presence/news/updates and they even ask their fans for opinions and ideas. This place is the predecessor for Queens Comfort and filling in those big shoes quite well. And they keep getting better! Fried chicken sandwiches, the "Mary Poppins," chopped cheese empanadas, rainbow cookie crumb cake, funfetti cheesecake and dipped ice cream cones, everything is awesome!
I tried today their vegan egg sandwich and was delicious! It also came with a free coffee so hurray! Sooo excited! I also tried the Vegan Chik’n Po Boy. Tasty and soft and with just enough sauce, also a delight. There is no indoor seating at this point but they have some small tables outside where you could enjoy the meal.
Fantastic around the board. Superb griddle sandwiches (get any breakfast sandwich FTW), colorful vibes (care of a playful mural from Kevin Lyons) and Fri-Sundays, "Avatar" will meet you up front with a spicy joke on the side. Mostly takeout orders, but a smattering of 2 and 4-top tables to sit and enjoy the tasty treats.
One of my favorite spots in Astoria for coffee, dessert, and now lunch too. Their food offerings are always creative and delicious. Items are generally expensive but that doesn't stop me from treating myself or picking something up as a gift. Most recently I tried the donut milk latte (yes, it tastes like a donut!) and the chopped cheese (cooked to perfection). Also appreciate the cool vibe, it's a fun place to hang out.
I cannot say enough good things about my recent Comfortland experience! My husband and I had been following the Insta page for years, and had meant to go on our last vacation here in 2023. As it turns out, we just moved to NYC permanently and Comfortland was one of our first stops, and it's what my husband wanted for his birthday lunch! The space is small, but has the best vibe, you HAVE to experience it to "get it" in this case, and pictures aren't gonna do it justice. We had the absolute honor of meeting front of house manager James Avatar. He was so friendly, helpful, inviting, charming, and probably any other good adjective you could insert here. This is not an experience you can have just anywhere, believe me. The conversation was great, and level of service out of this world. The food. My God let's talk about the food.... my husband got the fish sandwich, I got the sticky finger chicken sandwich. They were both giant, to start with- but also fresh, hot, crisp- literally everything you could want. The flavors were perfect, this is a well crafted menu and I can't wait to try EVERYTHING else. Their desserts looked heavenly, and I see myself walking over just for those in the very near future! They know what they're doing here. Just go already, you won't regret it. Worth every penny! I'd have taken more pictures but you'll understand why I didn't when you go- you'll be too enamored with the food. So excited to hear that they will be operating at CitiField too! Congratulations again, and I'll be back soon!
What a lovely experience we had at Comfortland today. The lady who took our order and brought us our food was so sweet. Our food was phenomenal. We got the Nashville chicken sandwich and after having recently just gone to Nashville I can say the chicken was very on point! The truffle Parmesan fries actually tasted like truffle which can be surprisingly hard to find. The doughnuts? To die for. I also always get the Du Monte cold brew which is an iconic staple coffee from New Orleans I’ve never been able to find in NYC. Through their food you can almost forget you’re sitting in Astoria.
This has to be the most consistent place I've ever ate at which is almost impossible to achieve in the food business. Everything on the food menu is a sure bet and they always add a little something extra to a standard well known recipe that winds up elevating any traditional dish. Great rewards program as well.
2nd time back (for Brunch, this time with friends) and it did not disappoint! Service was friendly and attentive. Our server went above and beyond. Food was just WOW! Everything we had was just pure bliss! Can't wait to come back here again. Now please excuse me while I slip into a food coma.
Incredible spot in Astoria. Loved every single thing about it - with the food and service being an absolute highlight. The Boomer (Thanksgiving sandwich) and the Freak on a Leash special I can only describe as stupid good. Johnny was awesome to chat with and even hooked it up with a delicious piece of rainbow cookie crumb cake to finish it off! I'll pretty much be spending all my time in between now and my next visit...thinking about my next visit. Thank you Comfortland for existing!
The name says it all. Go here to get some comfort food when you don't care about the calorie count and just want to treat yourself. This is one of our regular stops when visiting the area. The fried chicken sandwiches are deservedly the main items on the menu, but other sandwiches are great as well and the milkshakes so delicious. The staff is very friendly. Be ready to select a free joke at the register and pick up some stickers. There is a bit of seating inside and outside. During peak times you might have to wait a bit.
Amazing staff so nice and outgoing and amazing food service!!! Def been here more than once! And got free desert for my birthday
If you find yourself in Astoria you must swing by Comfortland. The chicken breakfast biscuit was tasty AF and my husband loved his chicken sandwich. The thin fried chicken is such a treat. The chap that served us was amazing and the spicy joke he told me was brilliant. Can not recommend highly enough
Whoever is running this Instagram account is doing a hell of a job. I’ve been following their page for a few months, sharing posts with a pregnant friend who’s also into food. We finally set a date to venture out to Astoria (I live in Bushwick, and over an hour commute on the train). Expect a line, don’t expect to eat indoors, we were aware of all of this looking at the ig page. I did NOT expect the joy a free jokes at the register! 2 of us went with Spicy-Ghost Pepper level jokes, he did not disappoint! Food: Brisket Grilled Cheese Memphis Honey Gold Chicken Sandwich Doctor Freak n’ Stein Acapulco Gold Pumpkin Bread Pudding Vegan Jelly Bomb Since we were sharing and that Memphis Gold sandwich is HUGE, one of the servers was kind enough to take it to the kitchen & cut it in half for us. For a place that is pretty much an outside grab & go situation, I found the people working there very friendly, helpful, and seem to enjoy their jobs. There were 3 of us, and this is obviously a lot of food, but we wanted to taste EVERYTHING! Definitely worth the trip! We walked to Manhattan when we were done 😂
One of, if not THE crispiest fried chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, even compared to sandwiches down South. So good. The honey drizzle makes it so lovely! One criticism I will say is that the space inside is sort of…creepy and dingy, and it doesn’t match the deliciousness and warmth of the food. They need a revamp of the interior so for now I’d just order takeout! (As of May 2022.)
This is my go to place for a good and different donut or biscuit. There are so many options and I always end up getting more than I can fit. Their menu changes frequently which is great because you can try different things, but then not so great when you are hoping to eat what has become your favorite item. Staff is always friendly and you can see the pastry chefs garnishing the donuts. Food is sooo fresh and the place is very cute and trendy.
Best Brunch! Southern meets 80s-90s childhood vibes. The special holiday menu was perfect! The service was impeccable! Everyone was nice and friendly and GENUINE! Hoping they can open a bigger spot where I can bring all my friends. 110% recommend. Shoutout to the ice cream guy. Cold World Pints made the best coffee ice cream I have ever had. The ice cream guy was so sweet, because we were the last brunch table and I liked the ice cream so much, he gave us the last large scoop. Going to savor this and try the rest of his flavors soon!
The best chicken sandwich ive ever had. It was thin, crispy, seasoned well and the honey was there but not sticky or over powering. My daughter loved the choppenheimer. Staff is great and the DJ! My guy had the vinyls and turntables. We loved it. The price was great, especially for the amount and quality.
This place is great. My partner and I got breakfast ‘McGruffins’ and they were delicious. I’ve also gotten a ‘freaky Friday’ with the special cut fries and they’re good too. My favorite part though, is when you walk in and you hear ‘welcome home.’ Almost as good as the Arnold Palmer slushie, makes you wish you had a lemon rum nip handy. Will definitely come back when I can afford the calories lol. If you’re thinking about going, 10 out of 10, do. If for nothing else than the dad jokes you will surely receive. <3
As I write this I haven’t even left the restaurant or finished eating but I just had to give this place its flowers right away. The chicken biscuit is truly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten…ever, but ALSO Avatar (I believe that is his name) is a radiant human being. You feel his warmth and good humour as soon as you walk in the door. Perfection. Great decor and vibes too.
Me and my girlfriend got a reservation to have brunch at Comfortland, and I have to say, it was easily one of my favorite dining experiences I’ve ever had. The staff was so warm and friendly. They took care of everything we needed, and really personalized the experience for every guest. They were even playfully interacting with a toddler at the table next to us. They really made it feel like a big family party or something. Plus, they had a live DJ, playing some great atmospheric music that really set the mood for the meal. And on top of all that, the food was on a totally different level. Definitely show up hungry if you can get reservations for one of these brunches. As our waiter said “It’s a substantial feast.” Every bite was incredible. An absolute must if you come to New York City. You will not be disappointed.
Loved the A/C. I got a traditional fried chicken sandwich and my boyfriend got the space jam. Both were absolutely divine and gargantuan. HUGE portions. The dole whip float was absolutely perfect for the hot and heavy food. Extreme pineapple flavor and not too sweet. Also grabbed a guava cream donut and had very low expectations but it was DIVINE. Big portion, so flavorful and perfect perfect texture of the filling and the dough, and perfect amount of cream cheese icing on top. Sooo good, everything!
This is a great place to go for delicious and unique eats! They have a great variety of sandwiches including po'boys, fried chicken concoctions and burgers plus tasty vegan options too. You can't skip dessert either as they always have a delicious special dessert such as a king cake donut or pumpkin ice cream cake. The staff is always friendly and will give you the coolest stickers!
very fun experience & loved the vegan po’boy. honestly, I couldn’t even tell it was vegan. it’s a great neighborhood spot to eat outside and enjoy a weekend morning. also the donuts are incredible- there’s always a special flavor and it comes with a donut hole. we had a strawberry rhubarb donut and it was really good. the staff are so fun & you will not leave without a smile on your face.
Wonderful gem of a restaurant in Astoria. The menu has tons of options for vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers. They serve all day breakfast as well as an assortment of tasty sounding (and looking) lunch options. What was super nice about comfort land is that in addition to good food, the staff and owner are so so nice. I haven’t felt so welcome at any other place in NYC, reminded me a little of the culture in the Midwest. Will definitely be coming back to try the other options they have on the menu!
Man, I've eaten at this place so much Google needs to let me do 4 reviews on this place, at least. Comfortland is the GOAT. If you're stopping in Queens, try and swing by this place. Food is ordered at the window, and during that order they'll check if you want to dine inside. If you don't know what to get, snag a Chicken Biscuit Buddy. They've got new specials all the time and everything is so good, you can't go wrong if you eat here.
This place was amazing; Just came out of work with my friends and this was my first time eating here and the experience was great. Great selection of menu items and portions of the food was huge i was just shocked. The Customer service was great one of the workers also checked on us to see if we needed anything. If I had to recommend this to someone I would highly suggest this restaurant.
A local friend took me for breakfast when I was visiting. Now I see all their Insta posts and am sad that I live so far away! I was greeted by a joke from bubbly James. The food was such a large portion, I didn’t eat again until dinner, even after walking around the city all day. And the donuts 🙌 Can’t wait to go back!
Went here on dreary cloudy Tuesday and ordered at the outside window and went inside to dine in. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich plain and truffle fries. The sandwich was by far the best chicken sandwich I've ever had and the truffle fries were phenomenal. It was a bit of a wait but be patient. This was some of the best comfort food I've had in new york city. 5 stars!
This is a busy spot for dine in or take out . It's located just of Steinway st where I found parking. The pop tart was light, buttery, and flaky with just enough filling. The cream cheese frosting had some tang and sweetness. The rainbow square is a must and they have a cannoli cream version. Plenty of jelly and crumb in relation to cake.
Don’t come here if you are on a diet because these big juicy burgers are going to fill you up! The chicken big mac situation was enormous. Super good and super crispy. The Bulgogi burger sandwich with the onion ring was absolutely phenomenal. So much flavor, so scrumptious, so satisfying. It’s a perfect sandwich. Perfect for a hangover cure!
Diego and Francisco are amazing cooks, everything here was a great experience. We were explained the menu with passion and enthusiasm and we were sold. Will definitely be back, Will was so lively as well
Food was soo good. I ordered the sausage biscuits and the fried chicken with jam 10/10. Chicken was crispy and sausage was like thick and flavorful. Portions are generous and they had a live DJ with music from the 70-80s? Whatever it was , great selection. A Studio Ghibli movie played at the back with a projector even in the morning. Will come back
One of the places I’d really miss if I had to leave Astoria. Guy who runs the place is an eccentric genius. Come here once and you’ll get the idea. Sure, you can order online but it’s a shame. Come in! They got a DJ and shit. They’re incredibly friendly. It’s the best when you can go with friends but even eating alone feels good here.
This was probably one of my favorite restaurant experiences I’ve had in New York. The service was great, the music was great (old school hip hop, rnb ), and the food was amazing. When people talk about good service, they usually mean how quickly you’re seated or whether the waiter is respectful. All of those things were true here, but our waiter whose name I believe was James went above and beyond to make us feel genuinely welcomed. There’s a quote that says, “Don’t go where you are tolerated; go where you are celebrated.” This is one of the few dining experiences in New York where I truly felt celebrated, not just served. Highly recommended. It’s supposed to be a casual dining experience, but it was a memorable one.
Wow, I just walked away leaving this place so happy! The decor of this place is fun to look at. The food is out of this world good!! Definitely go out of your way to come here if you come to NYC. I will dream of the plain chicken sandwich tonight<3 Not only is the food 10/10 but the service is so friendly, I felt like I was around family the second I got inside. I highly highly recommend this place for the vibes and the food. My life is all the sweeter for coming here. I can’t wait to come back, I will be a lifelong customer!
So my wife and i were in the neighborhood and this spot was on her list of places to try. We stopped in and im glad we did. My double decker chix sammich was spot on. It really was a Big Mac but with crispy, crunchy and moist chicken on the inside with deli pickles .. poor sandwich didnt stand a chance. Milkshakes were spot on. Wife loved her sandwich and tots. Make sure to take home dessert. Cinnamon bun was fantastic .. not too sweet .. not to savory. And the rainbow cookie cake takes the Italian treat to a whole new level. Cant say enough about the staff. Food was prompt and James kept me in stitches with his jokes. Place was steady busy with DoorDash and sit down diners. Wish we lived closer.
Hubby and I stopped by today for brunch. Every bite was delicious, we even ordered dinner for later. And don't miss those desserts, so yummy! The customer service was outstanding. The whole vibe of this place is welcoming. Not to mention the live vinyl only dj and the (actually funny) jokes with your order! We're definitely coming back to Comfortland and next time we're bringing the whole family.
🚨 Comfortland Report 🚨 40-09 30th Ave, Astoria, NY – aka the place where diets go to die and happiness comes served on a plate. Started off light (😂) with Chopped Cheese Empanadas—yeah, New York classic but make it portable. 🔥 Then came the tater tots with parmesan + truffle oil… listen, if you haven’t had tots fancy enough to wear a tux, you’re missing out. Then the Dropkick Murphy sandwich straight-up hit me like a chair at a wrestling match: 2 fried eggs, bulgogi beef, tots INSIDE the sandwich, melted cheese, all on a Kaiser roll. 🤯 That’s not breakfast, that’s a life choice. But wait, the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich—bro, they DUNK the chicken in sauce. Not drizzle, not brush… full baptism. 🔥🥵 Hands down, the BEST chicken sandwich in Queens. Game. Changed. And because my self-control filed for early retirement, I finished with the Rainbow Cookie Crumb Cake—layers of jam, crumbs, and pure chaos. Queens-level comfort food, no apologies. Comfortland is weird, fun, and doesn’t believe in “small portions.” It’s not a restaurant, it’s an event. 💪🍔🍰 #Comfortland #AstoriaEats #QueensFoodie #ChoppedCheeseGlowUp #FoodThatDropkicks #NashvilleHeat #CheatDayDoneRight
This is an excellent dining establishment. Most importantly and it cannot be overstated- it is authentic! The atmosphere is super inviting, the staff are always smiling, very friendly and happy to be there. The food is whimsical, creative and something that brings you comfort. It all makes sense in a nonsensical way! Very delicious lunch, looking forward to my next meal here. Thank you!
If you’re feeling hungry, you’ve got to try this place! Chill with friendly vibes, true to its name, this place serves up comfort food at its best. The menu had so many great sounding options (Captain Crunch French toast!?), I went with one of their signatures - their chicken, bacon and egg biscuit and it was perfect! The chicken was tender and full of flavor and the combo just hit the spot! Got a side of tater tots and I was stuffed. I’ll be back!
Ah yes, my death row meal. Comfortland simply cannot be beat. From breakfast to lunch to ice cream to donuts to Super Bowl catering to multi course brunches, they really can do no wrong. Fried chicken sandwiches are the main event, with weekly specials on rotation. My latest favorite is the lemon pepper sandwich box and you can’t go wrong with the classic fried chicken sandwich, chicken biscuit buddy or the freaky Friday Big Mac style sandwich. The service is also a highlight of this place, you can feel the joy they get from serving up Astoria. Don’t forget to get your joke from Avatar before finishing your order. I don’t think I’ve gone anywhere as much as Comfortland in the last 6 years and I won’t be slowing down. This is one of my favorite places to show off to anyone visiting Queens with the warning that you won’t be hungry for dinner after! Keep it up guys
Food is so yummy! I ordered a sausage egg and cheese in a brioche bread. So tasty ! Also got the burrito and it was one of the best I ever had. This place reminds me of food from the south (Louisiana food), which is why is so tasty !! We will come back again to try the fried chicken! Came here on a Tuesday morning so it was not very busy but they have lots of delivery orders. Ambiance is chill and colorful something like 80s-themed.
Amazing food! We went for first time the other day and instantly went back the next day. Couldn’t stay away. In the summertime we always see huge crowds in their outdoor area and been meaning to give Comfortland a try. Only disappointment is how our waistlines will change now that we’ve experienced its goodness. We got the Voodoo Tiger (DELICIOUS), the Graceland (delicious with sweet/spicy kick), chopped cheese empanadas, the Snack Wrap XL, and regular tater tots. Voodoo Tiger and Graceland were stand outs- so tasteful and delicious. They are solid portions though so we were filled! Best things about this place is the charm. The food is good, interior cozy and local, but the staff are even better. We got a joke with every purchase and continued to watch others get jokes at the register too. It’s a small place but consistently bustling; they even bring the food directly to you. We love this place!
💯 recommend! Comfort sandwiches in the heart of NYC. From first interaction with the guy taking orders, we knew this would be incredible. The chicken is perfectly cooked with layers of goodness. We split the Nashville Hot Chicken, Freaky Friday and Chicken Biscuit Buddy. The winner was the Chicken Biscuit Buddy without question although the competition was heated. Thank you Comfortland - I’ll be back for sure 😋
False advertising but good food. Was really excited to try the listed and photographed breaded seitan vegan chicken sand-which but unfortunately what I received was not what was advertised and after calling the resturaunt they confirmed they have switched the product to a Morningstar vegan chicken patty which contains an allergen of mine. I would not have ordered if I had known this before hand. The other food that was ordered was quite good though! Just buyer beware if you use product description and photos to make informed decisions. Fighting with DoorDash for my refund but the restaurant was very apologetic and agreed to refund. Four stars for their service and honesty and the quality of the food others
This is probably the worst place you could go to on January 2nd if you're remotely serious about resolutions. My chum and I moseyed over to Astoria (thankfully on a Sunday with minimal traffic drama) to investigate this establishment for brunch on her recommendation - apparently this is an edgy locale with a strong social media following. We found parking easily a few blocks away - and probably could have found a spot even closer, but why chance it? - and shortly thereafter located the establishment and an almost non-existent line. It was relatively warm out but also cloudy; I imagine in gorgeous weather around midday this is probably a madhouse, so you may want to consider that if you're in a time crunch. Both of us got massive New Orleans vibes from Comfortland. The music had a jaunty jazzy feel, and the Southern hospitality practically oozed onto the sidewalk. The gentleman at the window (I assume this is a COVID situation, but there was no indoor access and all business was conducted from outside, kind of like an ice cream stand) was incredibly nice and helpful. He had a larger than life personality and came outside a few moments after taking our order to help us get situated with an additional table. Beyond that, my friend can be very high maintenance when it comes to ordering food - loves to order off menu, picky palate, etc. - and this guy handled it like a champ. I ordered the Chicken Biscuit Buddy (fried chicken, bacon, egg, cheese, chipotle aoili and maple tobasco, $12) and a slice of the Funfetti Bling Rainbow Cake ($10). The sandwich was really good and could have been great. The biscuit is EXTREMELY crumbly - it dissolved in my hands immediately, and I had to go with a fork afterwards. I do think there should be an expectation when you order a sandwich that has this many ingredients in it that your paws are unlikely to stay completely clean, but the sandwich should still exist in its original form for more than three seconds. The bigger issue to me was the inclusion of the aoili sauce. It completely clashes with the maple tobasco and distracts from the rest of the sandwich. That said, the rest of the Biscuit Buddy was very solid, and this could be a top tier menu item with the removal of that one condiment. The Rainbow Cake is excellent. I'm always a little leery of crumb topping because it has a tendency to overwhelm the rest of the cake from both a taste and texture perspective, but they made the right call here by just having a thin layer on the top. Funfetti is one of the great inventions of Western civilization and should be considered as part of almost every pastry in existence. My chum also got the cake and loved it, specifically citing the strawberry jam toward the bottom. She subsequently performed an investigation and confirmed the crumb topping is glued onto the top of the cake with a chocolate layer. Brilliant. This item is apparently their bread and butter, and deservedly so. I wouldn't come here unless you've spent at least an hour in the cardio area of the gym beforehand, but it was worth the trip. I'd probably focus exclusively on the bakery section going forward though.
Short story: Stumbled upon this great casual spot. Would absolutely go back. Get the empanadas. 🤤 Long story: Yum. Yum. Yum. Grabbed a few very yummy bites (empanadas; short rib sandwich; fries) at COMFORTLAND after a pottery/floral workshop at Fern Botanical (just up the street). COMFORTLAND is a casual, chill, no frills spot with great food you eat with your hands. Everything I ordered was very shareable — I shared with a friend and I was full and satisfied. I actually think we reluctantly left a few fries behind because we couldn’t eat anymore. Staff was great. Service was fast. Food was hot and good. We ate outside where the vibe was chill, low key, and residential. The was at least one “character” but he was no bother at all. Customer base appeared chill and friendly. I would go back. I will go back. I need to get their Pineapple float (a dole something—I forget the name—but I need to try it.
I’ve been waiting to come here for many months to try the rainbow crumb cake. It is definitely delicious and doesn’t dishonor the traditional rainbow cookie. It’s very rich so share with a friend! The falafel dog is also very good, all the condiments and toppings make it a tasty vegetarian option. The pulled pork breakfast sandwich is huge, I could only eat half at a time. It was decent and the biscuit exceeded expectations. The almond joy and malted iced coffees are not worth the price. Their normal cold brew is much tastier.
Busy but delicious , food is ice cream stand concession , the fries are so good they don’t need ketchup , sorry I couldn’t get a pic , the price is fair for the portions !!! You will Enjoy , the only thing is it’s 3 singular tables with 2 chairs each so only 6 people can sit outside At a time . Lovely charm in Astoria !!! So glad I got to visit !!
My wife and I order food from here all the time. Loads of great sandwiches. I will keep getting delivery/takeout, however, consider what ingredients the sandwich your choosing has. I ordered the special Nightmare on Steinway St in October and it absolutely ripped my stomach to shreds that evening. I had never felt pain like that before. Probably the only bad sandwich I had from Comfortland. Some of these sandwiches just have so much ridiculous combinations of sauces and other toppings. Consider that before picking your sandwich.
Geeeeeez, do yourself a favor and get the classic chicken sandwich. I promise you will not regret it! Lobster club was delicious too. We tried one of their special ice creams, blueberry biscuit, which missed on some levels. It tasted balanced but half of it was frozen/icy and not the right consistency for ice cream. Not worth $6 at all unfortunately. But get the chicken sandwich and don’t look back!! Oh, and my friend got a to-go order and they charged her for the muffin and forgot to include it in the bag. Unfortunately we were long gone by the time she realized.
Everything was fresh. I thought the chicken was a little overcooked though. The chicken was cut very thin before breading, so that's easy to do. Good texture on the breading. I sampled a little off everyone's plate and flavors seemed a bit unremarkable to me. I'll have to try them again but it's seems more like a Instagram stop because the food looks pretty, than it is a memorable spot for its food. 3.5 stars for me.
Some friends brought us over to Comfortland for brunch and it was a fun experience. Ordering at the window is a neat, unique experience. We decided to eat inside. It's quite a loaded menu. Some items seemed so over-the-top, but they're not as crazy as they first appear. I landed on The Old Boy. Flavors were delicious, and oversized, but not too unwieldy. The only thing that threw me a little was I couldn't tell if the meat was ground beef or thinly sliced meat that was chopped SUPER fine because of how small the pieces were. For a drink, I got a malted cold brew. I've had other malted coffees and this didn't disappoint. Right up there with the best ones.
It’s ok… kind of a lunch for work can of pit stop place! it’s not crazy as tiktok influencers claim it to be! it’s mid… tier to me! I had the “Chicken Biscuit Buddy” menu item and it’s super greasy I give a 3.6/5 the “Nashville Mac & Cheese” it’s ok i give 4/5 its tasty and good! I like this better than the chicken biscuit buddy!
Rating: 8/10 Date Last Visited: 8/10/2025 I ordered the Freaky Friday ($14). The chicken sandwich is a remake of the Big Mac, but with fried chicken instead of beef patties. The idea is creative and the execution was quite flawless. The chicken was fried very well, the bun was crispy, and the cheese and lettuce represented the Big Mac image well. However, it was hard to eat practically since there’s no way you can bite all of it at once, so I split it into two sandwiches but one only had one bun. The taste is great too; not the best chicken sandwich I had, but definitely a solid sandwich. The rest of the menu seemed pretty creative and this is a nice spot for sandwiches. Overall, I would recommend considering the price and taste.
We ordered the milkshake, cold brew and the s’mores cupcake. The milkshake in my opinion was too sweet and the cold brew was average. Although the cold brew comes in a very nice bottle and their presentation is very good. The s’mores cupcake was the best among the three things i tried. I would like to try other things on the menu in the future.
It's fine but not great. Part of bread was moldy. Chicken sandwich dry. One of the two chopped cheese empanadas didn't have cheese.
Comfortland is a relatively new establishment that has a lot of potential. The staff is friendly and their decor is welcoming. Their food is eye-catching, doughnuts are creative, and flavors are on point. Unfortunately, they have a few kinks to work out before really making a push to challenge doughnut plant. I ordered three filled doughnuts, a breakfast sandwich, french toast, tater tots, and coffee. While the doughnuts tasted good, their dough to filling ratio was skewed too heavily in favor of the dough. It seemed like there was only a narrow strip of filling in each doughnut, which was slightly disappointing. The dough seemed a little too dense for my taste as well. Overall, I would call them solid utility doughnuts. The breakfast sandwich was good, though it seems like they run out of biscuits during rushes, leading to an additional 20 minute wait. Something to consider in case one is pressed for time. The interplay between the marinara, egg yolk, and biscuit made for a really enjoyable flavor and textural experience. I would say it was worth the wait. Unfortunately they mixed up my French toast order and it was another 15 or so minute wait until they made me a new batch. They must have put my order behind other folks because I saw several orders of French toast come out before mine. The music was lovely and made for a relaxing atmosphere. I would prefer it to be a little quieter as the cooks call your name to pick up your sandwiches. In lieu of their yelling over the music or having people crowd around the waiting area (impeding access to the only garbage can and bathrooms) it may be easier to have it be a little quieter so folks can sit at their table and hear their names called. Comortland has a lot of promise and it seems like the staff is really dedicated to making the place successful which is critical for customer satisfaction. While I'm a local, I'll probably continue to head out a little further to doughnut plant if I'm hankering for doughnuts but I hope to come back in a month or two to see their progress.
Tried this place for the first time and while I liked the idea of it in theory, everything was so mid, that it made me feel like I chose all the wrong things on the menu. I am not a firm believer that anything on the menu is 'the wrong item to order', because everything that you chose to offer on said menu should be delicious. $91 total with taxes/fees and tip. They have a few menu items that change and a few staple items. My order consisted of both. Nothing was appealing, so don't plan on trying again. I had the: -Chicken corn chowder (*SPECIAL*) - There was nothing special about this. Arrived luke warm and the taste was so underwhelming that I had no desire to reheat it to partake. -Chicken Snack Wrap XL (~$!4) - Fried chicken strip was fine. Wasn't particularly seasoned. I chose Chipotle Mayo, which had more of a kick than I was expecting. So often places offer a chipotle mayo that isn't really all that spicy, but this was and I was a bit unprepared. The wrap was sizeable and wasn't anything special with its cheese, L, T & P offering. They do offer a special sauce and ranch as an option. They do not make clear what their special sauce consists of/tastes like. I called to inquire, but the guy on the phone cut me off and instead of putting me on hold, held a full in person transaction on the phone with me on it. I didn't need to overhear his customer service, so I just hung up. From one hospitality worker to the business, there is a training opportunity to be found there. Put ppl on hold. If you're gonna offer a 'special sauce', make note of what it is in the menu, which ultimately provides clarity and cuts down on unnecessary inquiries both in person and via the phone. -Hip Tang Chicken Chopped Cheese - This sandwich is said to have (chopped chicken, bacon, white wine, sauteed onions & herbs, balsamic fig jam, arugula & aioli) and was made to sound really good, but none of the notes within the sandwich rang thru. The chopped chicken was actually really dry and had the consistency similar to dried out ground turkey. Honestly the sandwich looked better in the photo they use on delivery service apps. The sandwich didn't meet my expectation of sweet and savory, the fig jam and white wine non existent in the taste. Arugula was wilted and the sandwich seemed dry and kinda soggy at the same time if that even makes sense. The ratio of sandwich innards to bread also felt uneven. I took 2 bites and tossed. -Regular Tots - Tots are hard to mess up. They are literally coming out of a freezer bag and being fried. Nothing to really mention here. -Cap'n Crunch French Toast Sticks (~$9) - They were fine, but REALLLYY dense. I mean like really dense. They are not fluffy in the slightest, but decent for the portion and price. -Ramp Szn Chicken Salad Sandwich (*SPECIAL*) (~$14)- This seems to be special, because it is not on the menu currently. It appears in their photos on texas toast, but is actually served on sourdough. This was one of the worst chicken salad sandwiches I have ever had. The chicken was dry and tossed with mayo. Not a seasoning could be found. Not a walnut, cranberry, nor a piece of celery, NOT A THING. They also packed this sandwich generously in comparison to the other chicken sandwich ordered, which is a shame since it wasn't at all good. Perhaps they were trying to get rid of it. I am not sure what the intention of this sandwich is, but they can either eliminate or start from the drawing board completely on figuring out what this chicken salad needs. -Plain Fries (~$6) - They are a unique shape. Kinda gives a cottage fry and curly fry hybrid. They arrived soggy and weren't memorable. Not really in a rush to return to try anything new.
My sister suggested this place so since I was visiting I travelled over to see what they were about. First time ..The line was long, but the person by the cash register was a delightful man apologize for the wait. They offer you jokes at the end of your order, stating if you want it mild or spicy. Even though I ordered a spicy joke to me seem to be mild, since the person's joke in front of me was spicy dirty.. The experience was good, they have a good slushy Arnold Palmer. I ordered truffle fries and wish it had more parmesan on it. I ordered the Memphis chicken sandwich but the only thing that messed it up...was I asked for no pickles (since I'm allergic) and they were on my sandwich. Unfortunately, I was too far away to go back and return it or request a new order so I gave it to my friend which he gave it one and half thumbs up. My sister enjoyed her sandwich which was the Nashville. All I will end with.... I YOLO here.
Really disappointed this place used to have excellent vegan breaded seitan in their sandwiches. Now they heat up a boxed ‘chicken’ patty instead. Major downgrade — I could microwave a vegan patty and stick it in a bun at home. Sadly will no longer be ordering from one of my former favorite spots for vegan food unless they go back to their seitan.
Upon arrival we placed or order at the window and requested the staff wipe down a table for us as it was covered in food, he come out and cleaned the table with WINDEX, YES, you read that righ WINDEX. There was no indoor seating, only outside to accommodate my family of 5 we had to pull two very small tables together to eat. Here's the thing the food was just ok, in my opinion. Yes, the chicken was crispy but was so thin it could've been on its own diet and if im expected to pay between $12 and $14 for a sandwich it could've been a little meatier. They don't have a kids menu, so my 3yr and 4 yr old shared the classic chicken sandwich which was blah for my son because all he ate was the breading and not the chicken which I found was a little dry and bland without the breading. The fries were plain literally, no salt to season it. The empanadas were ok. The only drinks they had on the menu that was even remotely kid friendly was the Arnold Palmer slush(too sweet), orange juice, and strawberry lemonade( sold out). I mean outside of those it was either can soda or bottle water- I mean the only acceptable option out of the later is the bottle water. The tables were so small we still managed to drop our entire order of fries and had to order a second serving. Overall after spending what amounted to $120 to feed my family of five, the menu and food left a lot to be desired, would I go back? Maybe for their sweet treats but NOT the food. It's a great hangout for teens who need a quick snack. Not for adults with a more refined palate looking for a quality meal.
Much like everything else in NYC this place is over hyped. They are not friendly particularly to black people but that’s no surprise most food place in Astoria are prejudice either they want you to be some type of European or Hispanic. However no big deal right if the food is banging. ITS NOT and me and my wife were smacked, obviously it should haves been good especially since it’s munchie food. It’s not the worse but I wouldn’t go out my way to eat here again I didn’t even finish my food. It’s sloppily put together as well. It’s for a slob honestly. And way overpriced. But enjoy. 😉
