The best local coffee shop in Astoria. They regularly use Counter Culture coffee, which is amongst the highest quality. Additionally, there is an excellent selection of iced coffee, with two distinct cold brews in addition to a house brew. My favorite is the New Orleans - with a hickory flavor. Great variety of pastries from local artisanal producers - with the best almond croissant I’ve had...and I’ve tried many. If you’re looking for a small bite, there is a nice menu selection which includes very good options for all dietary needs. The frittatas are highly recommended. There is limited seating and internet use is capped at 45 minutes. There is always tasteful light music in the background. The owner is often nearby, usually engaged in stimulating conversation with one of the many regulars. The baristas are equally as friendly and accommodating. The crowd varies from young professionals to young families, but everyone is welcome and immediately feels like they can join in on the fun. You can’t ever go wrong coming here. Enjoy!
OK Cafe is a small cafe yet it offers a remarkably cozy atmosphere. This establishment offers a delightful selection of beverages, blending coffee, tea, or chocolate in adventurous and exciting ways. Patrons can explore a diverse range of milk alternatives to customize their drinks. I especially love the choice of coconut milk, most places do not offer this option. They also serve their drinks with honey which is a nice change for the all common sugar.
I went to get a coffee after a long morning in the city. We were heading back home and we needed to get something around the area and I’ve been wanting to try this particular coffee place for a while now so we decided to give it a try. I decided to get their house brew black in a small size, I added sugar myself before I left, and surprisingly, it was very strong coffee. I felt awake after a few seconds, maybe that’s just me. I got my daughter the chocolate chip cookie and she really loved it. I would definitely go back here,
Super cute stop, well decorated, good bites! Love that they do device free days, that's a definite bonus. I stooped in to grab some empanadas for my husband and I to share. They were very good and decent size. I'd say prices are very good, service excellent- I can't wait to go back and try some more menu items!
I am so happy we discovered this place today. They have a wide range of creative combinations. Their Parmesan guava loaf is worth trying. I got their rose vanilla latte, and my husband got their New Orleans French press. The air conditioning is way too cold, but food and drinks were great and the service was excellent.
I happened upon this quaint Cafe in Astoria and decided to try my luck. The reviews were mixed but my experience was a good one. It was very cute, small and quiet at the time I went in one early afternoon. Nice eclectic music played softly in the background, which was so soothing. The server was so sweet, and was alone, so I was patient and so appreciative of the care she took to prepare my ham and cheese croissant melt while she, still, pleasantly assisting others that came in. The coffee was great too. Nice to be able to support a small local business.
This is the best coffee spot in NY. It's not just OK it's Great! What I really liked was that they had non dairy milk options (almond, soy etc.) Organic coffee and food as well. Yes, the place is small and it may be crowded but it is worth the wait. They also have gluten free options as well. I wouldn't dream about wasting my time at another coffee shop after I went here. Try the turmeric latte, it's wonderful!
It's a really cute place...small...intimate...but I feel like it could use a facelift. It's pretty much been the same look for 10 years now. It would also be nice if they introduced some new food offerings. Also, more recently, their coffee almost always seems to have a 'burned' taste/smell. Very disappointing...
Not sure why I’ve never come in, but very cozy welcoming coffee spot; staff were super friendly and cute (the two working this morning 11/2 had cute accessories on), and enjoyed the engagement with them. Had an iced americano, and they were swift and friendly and kept things overall tidy. Will be back, can definitely be a work-remote spot for me. The iced americano is keeping me fueled and awake today :)
This is a great place for coffee and a snack with a great local feel. Very cozy. If you prefer a unique place locally owned than give it a try!
I feel like I might’ve missed something because the reviews here are awesome and I honestly believe it but when I went to get coffee, it did not taste good and their syrups really didn’t appeal to me. Still rating up because the people really sweet the place looked cozy although I wasn’t there for long. There’s a parking lot right next to the spot.
I debated whether or not to make this review but seeing people had similar issues or worse issues I decided to make it. I bought an iced coffee and sat outside with a sandwich I had bought elsewhere and the owner came over to me *without a mask* and asked if I had bought something because she didn’t see me come out. Gives me authoritarian dictator vibes and I showed her my coffee and she walked away but it was the weirdest and most uncomfortable experience ever. The place is beyond overrated and overpriced. An iced hazelnut latte is $6.10 cents, no way in hell it costs that much to make and with non-dairy milk it’s probably $7. Theirs always some 50 something year old lady with glasses moaning about something or another as she oozes misery doing her job. The pastries are all old and crusty and have been sitting there for days. The decor is terrible and reminds me of a Hobby Lobby meets Marshall’s bankruptcy, all ugly dark colors and random neighbor fliers all over the place. The baristas are aloof and repeatedly ask questions they already got answers too. I love shopping small and frequent local café’s all over Manhattan and Brooklyn but it seems that Astoria has fallen flat on its face in this department. They also list closing hours at 7 PM but actually close at like 6 PM which is a huge irritation. The ridiculous policies they have get out of hand and the place is ugly, drab, and overall uncomfortable. I kind of hope they go bankrupt to realize that they serve the customers and not the other way around.
Tiny coffee shop. We stopped here with our backpacks in tow to get some work done on a Saturday evening, but were told after ordering that it is screen free on weekends. It was a huge disappointment, but the barista was relatively nice about it and did provide some extra milk for our coffees. They should have a more prominent sign posted for patrons upon entering. 1 star for good coffee, but terrible place to hang out on a cold rainy day (45 minute seating limit).
