This was a pretty average restaurant. We wanted something out of the way in different and that's what we got. There were a few local families there. With the place so large it felt empty. The food was good but nothing spectacular. It was an average place with average food nothing to complain about but also nothing to boast. We're glad we went but would probably not go again.

Who serves frozen butterfly shrimp for premium prices, fish is good.. Service is always atrocious. I don’t know if she’s the owner, but the lady at the register is always SO RUDE. We used to love coming here.. but honestly it’s just not like it used to be. I honestly hoped after the remodel and the extending hours that it would take a turn, but obviously they have learned nothing. Good luck.

Was very disappointed because no green tomatoes, no ice for drinks, no sweat tea (say what?), had to find my own silverware, had to look for a full bottle of ketchup and the complimentary beans left a lot to be desired. And mind you this place had just opened for lunch and they should have been ready for their lunch run but they were very unorganized. I wish I had talked to the manager but I did not and that was my mistake.

My wife and I ordered a five piece catfish dinner to share. It came with two sides and three hush puppies. We paid an extra dollar for the onion rings. The catfish was mostly breading and very small pieces of fish. Not impressed. Okra was good. Onion rings were fair but only got five small ones. On top of that, they charged me more for using a credit card instead of giving them cash. Talk about nickel and dime. Will not be going back.

Terrible service from the elderly lady that was manning the register. She would be a great prison guard or warden, but just not working anywhere or doing anything that has to do with good customer service. I will never go back if it's my decision and I will tell everyone I know not to go there. The pretty good food and decent atmosphere do not even come close to making up for the lack of good customer service. Good luck y'all, you're going to need it.

What a joke..Fast food catfish joint with crapping fish due to fry cook that has zero care about quality. The warning signs were there... The entry is bland and uninviting, just as my wife and I stepped to the counter I looked over my shoulder into the dining area to see 4 tables of folks with long faces that apparently had not gotten their food yet. The nonchalant attendant broke my focus saying, "It will be a minute before I can take your order". I told my wife lets get out of here. But we stayed. Wife got the salad bar and baked potato. I ordered the 3 piece fish and fries. Fish was luke warm while the fries were piping hot. Wife did not enjoy that salad bar or potato....keep driving folks...

I didn’t think it was that wonderful with previous owners, but the new owners have made it 10x worse. Cajun fish was small and had no flavor whatsoever. French fries were just frozen with no salt or seasoning. Beans tasted like they were from a can with no seasoning at all. Chicken fried chicken used to be hand breaded and is now just a frozen patty. Cole slaw was meh. We won’t be back anytime soon.

There was a time since late 80s early 90s, even early 2000s Catfish King was the restaurant everyone wanted to go to. David Beard's Catfish King the name and the quality of food is something that the Atlanta, Texas location strived towards. I've been into this location in the last few days and I can say I'm not happy with the changes this location has made. The entry which use to be welcoming and someone they actually greeted you and was actually happy you'd come there and spend your time & money there. It's essentially a Catfish Cafeteria, very cold atmosphere, tiny drinks, and orders mixed up. There was no manager on duty, employees sitting around behind the manager whom I assume was the one cooking as well. The manager is just that someone who is suppose to make sure the staff is doing their jobs, ensuring the customers are happy and not cooking while the employees are sitting around. A far cry from what Catfish King use to be. It's not part of David Beard's network, and even though the food is decent, all other issues take away from it. Make the entry inviting, not cold lifeless, and actually teach your staff customer service, friendly atmosphere, some music to let people know someone is actually alive in the building. Management issue needs to be addressed and replace those cups with something bigger than a small coffee cup. Restore faith in your location and the local population and tourists. Best review I can give

Today I got catfish in atlanta texas and something happened from last week until this week the fish has no taste and is very dry. I don't think you all are buying farm rsised catfish anymore and if you are now ordering foreign catfish you will lose me as customer for sure I could not eat this dry tasteless catfish

I enjoyed the renovation that has been done. I live in atlanta texas and I love to eat out. Since the new ownership has taken over the flavor has changed drastically. And not for the better the food is just tasteless. I spent $80.00 plus dollars to put my napkin in my plate the chicken fried chicken is almost good as the $1.99 mc chicken at McDonald's. The chicken fried steak lord have mercy. The fish is just fish. I will NOT be back until you get a cook!!!! Flavor is a part of what bring you back. Good wait staff they're work with an impossible mission. Headed to burger king.

Full out 1 star. Chicken fried steak is no longer hand battered it’s the pre cooked frozen mess. Fried fish are child size portions. Service use to be outstanding. Quality of food use to be outstanding to. WHAT HAPPENED?! Chicken fried steak seriously use to be so good saving money buying in bulk that pre frozen stuff is disappointing. It “use” to be good.

Do not waste your time. Fish were not good!! They tasted like foreign raised. You order at the register and they ask for a tip so I leave one thinking we would get table service. Wrong!! Had to get refills and condiments out of a refrigerated box. This tipping habit has gotten out of control by employees just wanting a hand out for zero service! We each had a 2 piece fish plate with two sides and it was over $30 plus the tip. I was hoping for a great meal and want to support being it was operating on limited hours since the pandemic.
