It's hot. 94, 95 degree s. It's dollar movie night at the Paramount. Indiana Jones, The Raiders of The Lost Ark. The movie doesn't begin for another couple of hours. I'm really not hungry but I need somewhere to be until the movie begins. A lot of places are closed on Monday but not La Quinta de los Reyes on New York Street. My husband and I used to eat here sometimes back in the early 80's when we were dating. Come to think of it, he took me to see Raiders of The Lost Ark and Star War's. Back then, La Quinta de los Reyes main entrance was on Broadway. WOW! Just look what they've done to this place! I walk by here a lot and this place is always alive with people, music, food. Always, from walking on the outside, it conjures up thoughts of what is right in the world in people's lives. Inside are several women at the bar enjoying their selves. Seeing them made me feel I need to sit with them and absorb some of their energy. They somewhat invite me to be involved with them as they take pictures. I decline but still enjoy their company as I listen in. Tonight, I'm kind of full. I'm just hot, on foot. Do I want a beer? Anything to drink? I opt for a on tap Corona. I don't think I have ever had a Corona before. It was not bitter, which is of high priority to me when I have a beer. Which is not often. Or not often enough. One beer down and I could go for a little lite, cool bite to eat. Evan is my server at the bar. Fantastic! No attitude whatsoever. Just service, service, service. For food, It was decided on a small plate of salad with a lime wedge, a orange slice, a drizzle of french dressing. I think, also, a drizzle of ranch dressing. A side plate of saute'd shrimp, and an additional side plate of the most perfectly ripe avocado I have been served anywhere at any time. The only thing missing from this delicious, perfect, light meal was a tortilla to use to sop up the citrus juice and the dressing from the salad. Just, splendid! Now, on to my dollar movie at the Paramount.

What a great dinner!! We had two huge parrilladas for put family group. The meats were perfectly cooked with onion and a variety of pepper. They came to the table hot and fresh with burners to make sure they stayed hot. The corn tortillas was freshly made and super delicious. The wait staff was friendly and made sure everything was perfect for us. It was lovely sitting on their open air patio next to the river.

We hadn't been at this authentic Mexican restaurant in several years and it has gotten even better. They have a large well-covered and protected outdoor seating area. They had music with a volume appropriate live singer who sounded real good. The food was delicious with one of us having an enchiladas plate and one having a grilled chicken bowl with peppers and onions. They made fresh guacamole and salsa at our table which was incredible. Also great and attentive waitress.

Although it was busy the service was fast and our server Obed was absolutely amazing. He was very attentive and would always asked if we needed anything and was very prompt if we did! Definitely going back to eat and would definitely recommend!

The food is absolutely delicious! The staff is super friendly and fast. We have a great time every time we come here!

I absolutely loved the upstairs atmosphere where we were seated next to a warm fireplace overlooking the river. Our waitress was very attentive and we enjoyed the table side salsa and guacamole service. The guacamole was made with the perfect amount of salt, which I feel is often missed at other places. I wish I would have had cash though so I could directly tip her for this service. I ordered the steak tacos and they were delicious, my dining partner had the enchiladas which were also very good.

We had dinner in the new four season room for the second time this month as it has become one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in town. The food always uses the freshest ingredients and prepared exactly as ordered, very generous portions and wonderfully warm staff to take care of all your requests. The new addition is so great for large family and business gatherings as well. Absolutely always order the fresh table side guacamole and chips! And tip the guac maker too!

Great place to go and unwind with a margarita, chips and salsa or one of their delicious dishes. This place has 3 floors and a patio for you to enjoy the great atmosphere. If you want a great view of the Fox River while dining, seat on the Westside of the restaurant on any of the floors. If you just want to get fresh air while dining the patio area is the perfect place, it's nice and cozy. The food is delicious and the service is very good. I really like the parrilladas, molcajete mixteado, chiles rellenos and the quesadillas de flor de calabasa, they are all phenomenal. Their parrilladas are big enough for two people. Use the parking lot North of the restaurant or behind the restaurant it's just a few steps away from the rear entrance.

Great food, even better margaritas and amazing staff. Must get the fresh made salsa and guacamole at the table.

Bring some cash to tip for the table-side salsa and guacamole de molcajete! Great service, great food, especially the tortillas. Worth a trip to Aurora just for dinner!

Hubby and I dined at this location on 4-25-23 and had a great dinner. We pass by quite often but have never eaten here. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious as I am a very picky eater. Our waitress Leyda was very personable also. I mean really tasty. They make fresh guacamole in front of you too. I had Fajita Mixta De Res Y Pollo (steak and chicken fajita) - Hubby had Bistek con Rajas y Queso (Steak w/poblano pepper strips). Yum on both. The drinks were also phenomenal. We will definitely return.

Seafood platter is always great. When asking for hot salsa, ask for something hotter than hot and they will make you a custom hot salsa that is so tastey! Food hear is always great. The chorizo bean dip with chips is fantastic as well. Can't go wrong with the music and food here. Great place and atmosphere overall. Great place to pass the time.

My wife and I had the very best dining experience at LA Quinta's today. The food was absolutely delicious, very authentic, and reasonably priced. Be prepared to get to go boxes as there's no way we could consume the dining for two platter that we ordered. The service was top notch, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. I highly recommend you give LA Quinta's a try....you'll be glad you did.

The guacamole and salsa were made at the table. All the food was delicious. Great view along the river. Lots of seating.

Enjoyed this delicious (red tomato) Enchilada dish, with a delicious strawberry margarita 🍹. Parking is always hard to find but the wait is definitely worth it. Once they have you seated everything else just follows. Wait time for food is 100% better then the wait to get a table forsure! 10/10, highly recommend! Will be going back !🍻

This food was good. It’s pretty expensive but at least there’s a lot.

The hostess Frida is really funny she knows the best jokes, she always tells us one when we go eat. The parrillada de reyes for 2 was really big we only got half way and we were full. And the spicy salsa is the best.

Food was excellent. Super delicious and fresh. Tried through Grubhub and was not disappointed. Chicken nachos were tasty but that chorizo bean dip was on point. Side of Guac and a hefty portion of chips. Recommended!

We went here as a recommendation from one of our friends and we were pleasantly surprised. Their menu is a bit intimidating at first with so many things to choose from but we both tried something new and loved it. Most of their dishes are served in molcajetes which added a refreshing little twist to most Mexican restaurants. There was a lot food! We tried to finish our meals but tapped out about midway thru. Their house margarita was delicious and strong too so I decided to try another. I’ve had tableside guac before but never tableside salsa, I loved that little twist as well! Overall, a great place!

Food was amazing and the service was too. The atmosphere was upbeat with live music. Very nice outdoor patio area watching the sunset. Sat right next to a water fountain ⛲️ and relaxation was on point. Definitely go ya'll.

The food is absolutely delicious! I have to say I was so impressed that they have someone who comes to your table with a rolling cart to make salsa just the way you want it and guacamole the way you like it The servers were very friendly. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. And it had a incredible view from the window which made it a great experience.

We go to this restaurant frequently and they consistently have great food, wonderful staff and great ambience. We will return again. Convenient parking lot behind the restaurant and nice river view. Priced right as well.

I love the mango margaritas 🍹 my to go plate are the fajitas I tell them mixed fajitas with shrimp its pricy but good. One plate is more than enough for 2 people

We came to this location with a group of friends and the place looked magnificent! There was so much culture everywhere to look at, and they made us feel welcomed. They make the salsa and guac per recommendation at the table and the drinks were delicious. The food was fresh and had some flavor, good but could be better. I love the options they offer and the selection they have, the plates were well beyond satisfactory and I would probably come back with friends and family.

Don’t let the exterior fool you—this place is full of surprises. From the outside, it may look a bit run-down, but step inside and you’re greeted by a surprisingly warm and inviting atmosphere. There’s a mix of open-air and indoor seating, giving it a relaxed, casual charm. Now, let’s talk food—authentic doesn’t even begin to cover it. Every dish is made fresh and by hand, and the real star of the show is the open kitchen right in the middle of the bar. Watching the chef work just feet away adds a whole new dimension to the dining experience. That said, quality like this comes at a price. The menu is on the pricier side for this type of cuisine, but when you factor in the freshness, craftsmanship, and overall experience, it’s clear you’re paying for more than just a meal—you’re paying for something memorable

Went before a Paramount show. Great Location right on the river. Skip the cucumber margarita and get a regular one. Enchiladas were great. Super fun for a birthday - singing, desserts and props for photo ops. They were a little short staffed so plan enough time if you have tickets to a show.

Their Parrillada... is fantastic. Had the seafood platter which is kept hot tabletop. Guacomole and Salsa made to order tableside is great. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Nice place with live music! I love how they prepared the guacamole right there in front of us. We enjoy our time there!

Amazing food and entertainment. Unfortunately if you like real spicy Mexican food this place is not it lol. None of the sauces had a hint of spice but that’s no big deal. Waiters definitely took a while to get around but in a busy time that would make sense. Prices in my opinion do not entirely match the quality of the food but nonetheless definitely will consider going back!! Great for special events or birthdays or brunch!

They charge you if you ask for limes to put on your fajitas which to us is ridiculous. Also only gave us 5 corn tortillas for the 2 person order of fajitas and again charged us for five more...we were charged $3.99 for each request....really, $7.98 for a few slices of lime and 5 tortillas?

Awesome, fresh, authentic mexican food in a great location by the water. Shouldve easily been 5 stars but unfortunately the service leaves alot to be desired. Was not checked upon after being initially served here. Had order mistakes that were not corrected, no drink refills for the entire duration of the dinner, and was given attitude about splitting the bill. Hopefully we just got a bad apple and can try this place again.

This place was overall okay and most likely my last time here. Price: first chip basket, salsa and tortillas are free. After it is 2.99 per. This is ridiculous - if you really want to charge more build it into the price. This is the main reason I will not come back. Food: taste was overall okay. My wife and I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. Above the mound of veggies you’ll have about 8oz of meat. Mild Salsa on the side and the top really just tasted like V8. No depth of flavor. They have a fridge stacked with chips in baskets, this has to be a breeding ground for bacteria. Service: we saw the server 3x or about every 15minutes not bad he was friendly too. Atmosphere: Was nice to be on the river and was mostly clean.

Food was absolutely cold , fries looked reheated multiple times. The waiter was absolutely friendly and the service provided was great , however the food would’ve tasted better if it was warm. The food felt like it had been sitting out for atleast 10 minutes. Was expecting better , especially on a 140$ bill.

I used to recommend this place to everyone but just stopped this past Saturday after spending close to 600 out with the family first thing is the lemons I had no idea they charge you for them 2nd their chilaquiles are chips with green or red sauce for that I would just order nachos that is not real chilaquiles 3rd they offer no more salsa on the tables you have to have it freshly made at a cost they used to offer house made salsas but now they charge you for it now this little things might not seem too bad but if I'm going to drop close to 600 there is certain things I expect and paying for lemons and salsa is not one of them to top it off the cooks burned something which cause alot of smoke and we had to avacuate the restaurant due to the fire alarm going off and waiting for the fire department to clear things before going back in by the time we did our food got cold and out drinks got hot you would have thought oh man desserts on the house or 20% Off the bill or something NOPE not even the lemons lol now I will say there food is not bad for the money you will spend i would go to La Flamo De Oro less than 10 mnts away the food taste the same if not a bit better but you'll get better service more respect the management is more level headed and down to earth yes it might not be as big or decorated as such but your overall experience will be so much more enjoyable it was a so so last meal cause I will never go back.

We had reservations at 7 pm and we sat down immediately and that's where it went down hill. The food was amazing but our server never wrote anything down, we were missing food, and then she rolled her eyes when asked for refills. If I could rate a zero for service I would. We've been here multiple times and always had amazing times so definitely give it a try just be patient with the service.

The staff was not friendly, they made it seem like it was a bother that we were ordering. We also found a spider in our basket of chips. When I walked by the chip warmer I noticed that the light had cobb webbs in it. Would not recommend overpriced food with no flavor and rude staff.

I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR LARGE GROUPS! food for half of our party was cold; they wait until all dishes are ready so some will be hot while others will be served cold. They also charge extra for lemons and tortillas without letting you know until you get your check! I was a guest for a family birthday dinner of 7 guest. We were seated in the heated outdoor patio during a rainy night and the ceiling was dripping on various sections over our table. We made adjustments to our chairs to prevent getting wet. Service by Belen was slow to say the least. We went on a Monday evening and the place was empty. We had to ask the other server to call her for us when we needed refills on our drinks. 1 stars for cold food. Service was extremely slow and water coming from the ceiling is unacceptable. They could have seated us in the dining area. ** EDIT TO RESPONSE FROM RESTAURANT * If Belen was not working that day, why is that the server name on the receipt! I will definitely NOT consider returning and spend money for an establishment that consider tortillas and lemon as an up charge of $2.99 for dishes that should include tortillas.

We visited this restaurant on 9/16/2020 driving a hour and half. Arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 p.m.. We wanted to do something different for my sister’s birthday. When we arrived they were not very busy. We did sit outside. Waitress that said I said that they would be bringing us some salsa, guacamole with chips. We stated please not hot. The items arrived at our table 1st bite of salsa was extremely hot. Once the waiter did arrive to our table explained that it needed to be replaced and to please don’t let it be hot. We were only given one menu. Before ordering myself I have celiac‘s disease. Specifically asked the waiter multiple times if there was any types of soy in their stir fry. He said no no no. So between the three of us we decided to do the fajita Dinner for two meal deal our choice of meat was chicken, shrimp and steak. We do not eat pork! We also asked what was included. He stated beans, lettuce, rice, guacamole , Salsa, cheese and sour cream. Plus corn tortillas and flour tortillas. We did have drinks also. Took about 35 to 45 minutes before we did get our food. Once our food was brought to the table we had to wait a while to catch the waiter to ask what was all the meats. We had more than three meats. Come to find out we had pork and sausage on the tray also. The vegetables were on the bottom all the meat was piled on top. There was no rice when I asked he said he go get it we never received it. Same goes for the sour cream. We asked for extra napkins because we only had one napkin a person. After 15 minutes proceeded to go inside The waiter was coming out and looked at me and said oh no I forgot. We had brought a birthday cake in which had to be kept in the refrigerator. They lost the attached card. When trying to ask the waiter any types of questions it was very hard for him to understand what we were saying. There was a table right next to us were two young ladies were having dinner. They had went to the restroom. The bus person came and proceeded to start to clean off the table even though the two young ladies had full drinks still sitting there plus to go boxes on the table. We said to the gentleman twice they had not left. He ignored us and cleared their whole table. When we checked out said some thing to the woman at the register about the two young ladies. Her reply was many don’t Understand English. In which explains why the waiter really messed up our order. Not sure what was worse the fact they didn’t get the order that we ordered or all three of us getting sick on the way home. All day the following day. At the time of check out to be told they were understaffed that’s why they were having issues. She also said that they weren’t expecting to be that busyNeedless to say I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. If you want Awesome Mexican I’d come to Rockford Illinois to Mexico Clasico you will not be disappointed. We wasted time gas and money to receive the worst birthday experience.

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Sorry I did. WAAAAY too pricy for the low quality of food. Took my mother there hoping for a nice lunch. Unfortunately, I can make better floutas and burritos at home. Also tried the carnitas dinner but it had no flavor and was like $26!!! Rediculous. I dont mind paying for quality, but they dropped the ball that day, badly. This place needs to up their game in my opinion.
