I have work meetings every Monday near this place and love to stop by for lunch when I’m done. I highly highly recommend getting the BEANS & GREENS dish!! THIS IS CURRENTLY MY FAVORITE DISH IN AUSTIN AND HAS BEEN FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. They have a great ambiance and share space with a brewery. It’s a good place to go if you’re someone who can work remotely. The outdoor area could use some umbrellas and SOME of the staff seem a bit exasperated, not all. The coffee selection is good and the chocolate chip cookie is a must have!! It has Maldon salt crystals which give it a nice touch. My friend had the turkey burger and salad with radish which were both yummy!

Nice spot for an easy going drink or bite to eat. The vibe is cool, but the food is not life changing. We got there before 3 pm so had to choose from the early menu. We got the breakfast sandwich as it was the healthiest choice on the menu other than their salad, and we got the matcha latte. We enjoyed ourselves.

I’ve visited this restaurant three times, and it’s consistently solid. My recent Saturday brunch really stood out. The food is flavorful and well-executed, with a thoughtful concept that shines through in the menu. The space is clean, modern, and stylish, creating a welcoming vibe. My only gripe is the crowd—expect a wait, especially on weekends, though the kitchen turns out dishes quickly. If you’re local, this spot’s probably already on your radar.

Great Vibe and Good Food, Definitely Worth a Visit This is my third time coming to Better Half, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the half Chop Chop salad, the single chicken bacon burger, and a veggie burger. It’s hard not to like this place. The amount of property they have means you can almost always find a seat, which is a nice. If you’re into alcohol, I’m sure you’d really enjoy it here as they have a great selection. It’s hard to beat a $7 chicken/beef burger though the patty itself is a bit on the thin side. Everything was solid—the food was good, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It definitely feels like a spot that you could always go to and know what you’re getting.

Stopped in here for a post town lake brunch. Everything about it was just ok. Everything looked better than it tasted. Service was decent. Good was decent. Amazing large space good for groups, families and it’s also dog friendly.

Updating my review from a 5 to a 4. Came back here two more times and the food just wasn’t as good. They are capable of 5 star food but i guess it depends who is working. Original review: Loved the food, service, and vibes here! Came on a Sunday for breakfast and it was the same day as a marathon so it was really busy. There’s so much seating outside though that made me think this place is equipped to move that quickly and I was right. There are some reviews saying their food took 90 minutes. I think we waited maybe 15-20 minutes. We got two breakfast sandwiches, one with beyond meat and one with avocado and both were amazing. The avocado one is a lot lighter and fresher. The cauliflower tots are a MUST. We ended with a chocolate chip cookie. It’s a damn good cookie. High quality chocolate chips, flavourful dough, and salted. I’ll definitely be back for breakfast and to try their dinner items.

the carnitas with potato wedges and egg was sooooo yummy. if wasn’t overwhelming and the creamy green sauce they put was just right. i will say though, the carrot cake latte was not the best… i do not recommend it, i tried to thug it out but only made it to three sips :(

Most everything here is à la carte - their food is decent but nothing to run home and tell mom about… it’s a simple chicken biscuit or burger (your local dive bar can do better) and for that price point $11-12.. it needs to come with a side imo.. coffee is good, booze obvi is good… but wish this place had more brunch options and honestly better food in general, it could be a cool place but gives off entitlement and snobbery - employees aren’t always nice either…

I've always loved Better Half, it was a tried and true spot for me for years. I came back to grab a salad for lunch for the first time in about a year and I am sad to say it has gone downhill. $48 for two very un-fresh disheveled "half" salads, and a dirty table. I am so sad to have spent so much for so little, but more sad to see a place I once loved not holding their standard.

This place is definitely popular, but I found myself underwhelmed by the famous cauliflower tots and the breakfast sandwich. They didn’t live up to the hype for me. The cauliflower tots were crispy but, like the breakfast sandwich, could benefit from more flavor. However, the beetroot ketchup had a unique taste to it. On a positive note, the lemon olive oil cake and the queso were delightful. As for the coffee, I was disappointed. The caramel sea salt cold brew tasted more like vanilla, with barely any caramel or sea salt flavors coming through. The lavender latte was watery. Overall, nothing really hit the mark. The best part of the place, though, is definitely the vibe. The outdoor patio is spacious, with plenty of shaded seating and a cozy bar area in the corner, covered in vines and string lights. Inside, there’s a nice mix of seating options so whether you want a couch or a high table they have it all. And they have a little kiddie pool outside where you can dip your feet, which is nice, and dogs are allowed, so if you’re just looking for a chill place to hang out, it’s great, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the food or drinks.

To preface, I didn't stay for very long here and also cannot speak on the food. The service, drinks, and overall experience however I definitely have opinions on. This place is the epitome of the Austin gentrification/ sellout culture that runs rampant in this city. I would describe it as a good spot for instagram, bad spot to experience. Our neck bandana clad server was very dismissive and barely wanted to chat, despite it being basically dead. Originally I wanted to see if I could do some work on the computer here, but the vibe was just off-putting in general. I felt like I was an offense to the bartender just by being there. He was however, super flirty with a group of girls at the end of the bar who appeared to be instagram promoting the spot. This definitely hints to the kind of customer they want here. The prices weren't actually terrible as far as Austin goes, but the quality was definitely to be desired. We were hocked a discounted frozen espresso martini, but honestly couldn't even finish it because it was awful. I'm not very picky either, but really it was that bad. I couldn't enjoy my time there either because between the service and the bad drink, the walls and overall atmosphere felt sterile, and censored. It didn't have personality and would look great on camera in some dreamy instagram influencer's view of reality. This place is missing the feeling of what Austin used to be, and is replacing it with the same corporate modernist grey-washing that most businesses are getting. Honestly the place was a bummer.

Truly one of the most mediocre places I’ve been to that is trying to be trendy. The breakfast sandwich was so underwhelming for the price. No seasoning, no salsa, no sauce. Just a bunch of fried elements without seasoning. It was very one note and nothing to it. Difficult to eat. Coffee was okay, much prefer other places in Austin. Super loud inside.

I’ve been a regular here and genuinely like the breakfast. Recently, I stopped by with friends planning to order a full meal. We were denied entry because some of us had half-finished coffees from elsewhere. We explained we were there to spend on food, but were still turned away. I understand businesses have policies, but this felt unnecessarily rigid. Turning away paying customers over something is their choice and liberty. Unfortunately, there’s ways to say things, if that’s how they care about theirs customers it’s hard to come back. There’s ways to treat a customer and if they try to hide behind their “rigid” policies to excuse their rudeness and refrained from even asking politely for a request or actually explaining their reasonings when we show up, there’s not much to do.

After taking the order they come back after 30 minutes to tell us that they just sold the last veggie burger. They offered to refund the money or give us an alternate option. How many veggie options do they have on their menu? Not many. They took a few potatoes sautéed it and threw it on a plate. Some alternate that turned out to be. And then those cauliflower tots! They were so burnt that they were literally rock solid and burnt. Terrible experience in terms of food. Just left all the food right there and walked away.
