Eldorado Café never disappoints — the food is absolutely delicious every single time! From their flavorful dishes to their warm, welcoming atmosphere, you can tell they put heart into everything they do. Even more impressive than their tasty food is their generosity. For two years in a row, Eldorado Café has given back to Padron Elementary School, supporting our students and staff in such a meaningful way. It’s amazing to see a local restaurant that not only serves great meals but also invests in its community. Thank you, Eldorado Café, for filling our bellies and our hearts! 💛🌮
Great atmosphere with even better food!! Friendly staff that made us feel like we were regulars. Definitely recommend when in Austin!!
Was taken here by my brother when my family and I came to visit from Japan. He said this was his favorite restaurant of all time and after eating there I understand why! The food was so amazing and was the best thing we ate on our trip! Beyond that, the service was so friendly and welcoming that it really made me feel at home and allowed me to enjoy such great cuisine in an awesome atmosphere! And even more, the owner was on site and came and spent time talking with my family and gave us such a friendly welcome and kind words and more! It was such an awesome experience and was seriously the highlight of my trip! I could not recommend it more and I can’t wait to come back again!!
Make sure you reserve a table in advance if you don't want to wait 30+ minutes. Food is amazing! Their free nachos are amazing if they're hot, but that usually only happens half the time. Their second spiciest salsa is THE BEST. Only 3/5 stars for service though - it's very busy, and I think they have servers spread out a bit too thin. Takes a while for servers to notice the need for drink refills, etc - not their fault - they're constantly working hard, but I really think they should probably have one more role or lesser tables per employee.
There’s a reason why I go out of my way to secure a spot for Saturday brunch here! It’s the absolute best! From the food to the staff and even the owners, everything is incredible! Salsa X, two breakfast tacos, and the Suadorado make for a great start to my Saturday. And when we want dinner, the enchiladas are hands down my favorite! We usually order to go for dinner but it reheats up perfectly. The staff are all so kind and nice as well. I really appreciate too how they label their menu and have so many options for different diets. But even more so, they have been great to gluten free and celiac! The menu is labeled perfectly and never once have we had an issue with cross contamination. Best Tex Mex, best staff, best owners!
Dined on a Tuesday night celebrating my son's birthday. It's his favorite Mexican food restaurant. We walked right in and were seated, unlike the weekends when it's always packed. Queso, margs, salsas and chips, and food always delicious. I had the Dart Bowl enchiladas because I grew up in Austin in the 60s and 70s and was feeling nostalgic! Don't really remember the bowling alley enchiladas with an egg, but I'm old so who knows. Bowling alley food was always good back in the day, and Eldorado's delivered on taste! We all enjoyed our meals, and dining experience. Always ready to go back!
Been coming here for a few years and the food is consistently amazing!! I LOVE the Rene’s Awesome Enchiladas. The service is always incredible as well, quick and friendly. We had Lindsey tonight and she is a gem!! Such a sweetheart, can’t wait to come back and see her and have some more great Tex Mex!
Had an amazing dinner at Eldorado Cafe in Austin! The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the corn ribs, which were bursting with flavor, and the Mole Enchiladas were rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced, easily one of the best I’ve had. We also tried two mocktails, a mango one and a tamarind one, and both were incredibly refreshing and so well made. Honestly, they were just as memorable as the food. A huge shoutout to our waitress Claudia, she was truly awesome! Every recommendation we ordered was suggested by her, and she absolutely nailed it. Super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, she made the whole experience even better. Loved everything about this place and would highly recommend Eldorado Cafe to anyone visiting or living in Austin. Can’t wait to come back!
Eldorado Cafe definitely lives up to the hype! The food was super fresh and full of flavor. The tortilla chips were amazing, and the Eldorado Salsa Sampler was a hit — especially the Molcajete Verde, Mera Mera Salsa, and the spicy El Scorpio! We tried the Enchiladas Suizas, Enchiladas Classicas, Lost Amis Bowls, and the Flan — everything tasted great. I loved that the enchiladas weren’t overly cheesy or heavy. Even though the wait was long, they had outdoor seating where we could relax and enjoy drinks. I’d highly recommend making a reservation. Also a great spot for vegetarian and vegan options — plenty to enjoy! Highly recommend overall!
Every time we tried to get into El Dorado Cafe there was a wait, and now we know why: Mexican fare at another level! The Carnitas Cubanos alone, along with the variety of delicious salsas, would bring us back, but the customer service (thanks Susan) was world class, and the entrees and homemade tortillas makes El Dorado a desired destination. Shouts out to my favorite bartenders Joaquin, Adan, and their partner in crime, Sam...y'all are the BEST! Thank you, El Dorado Cafe, for a great dining experience every time!
It’s rare to find a restaurant that exceeds expectations in every way. Our recent visit to Eldorado Cafe was just such an experience. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was delicious, carefully prepared and unpretentious, and the people watching was great. What a pleasure it was to eat at this place. A real gem.
The wait on a Saturday was around 30-40 minutes. They let you sit on the patio and order chips/salsa and drinks while waiting. Great service staff. Everything we ate was 10/10. I highly recommend! Forgot to eat first so took a quick picture of my to go box for proof it was good enough to take home lol
Very chill vibe. Authentic Tex mex. Drinks are average but food is good. Nice place to hang out with friends. The service is nice and the servers are very friendly. They make sure that the guests are comfortable and the orders are served as fast as possible. Interiors are nice and has a very Texan country vibe. They also have a few tables outside where you can wait and order drinks to start with. Overall this is a nice restaurant. This was my third time here.
We visited for dinner as a party of 3 (2 adults and a toddler). For drinks we got the Purple People Eater (cocktail) and La Loma Lindo (mocktail). Both we very basic and pretty disappointing tbh, there was barely any alcohol in it. We also got the Shiny Ribs and Papas Rellenas for appetizers. Both were extremely good and I highly recommend it. We went on a Saturday so I got the Barbacoa Taco (deal of the day?), Thunder Rosa Taco, Too Hot to Tot (veg taco) and Grilled Chicken (kids meal). For dessert we got the chocolate pistachio Bundt Cake. Overall, our food was excellent and service was great.! Drinks were disappointing tbh. Upon seating, we got served a basket of chips, and we ordered guacamole with it, it was a bit spicy and perfect!
Found my place nearby for good Mexican food. Went in for breakfast this morning and sat at the bar. Joaquin was a great bartender. I had a nice drink called "purple people eater" its an Empress Gin based cocktail with blackberry juice among other things ... it was so good I had to have a second one! The migas was delicious had a bit of queso and white cheese on top. It was served with black beans and papas. Their papas has regular and sweet potatoes and is really good. I will definitely go back soon.
On the recommendation of friends we gave ElDorado Cafe a try. Be prepared for a wait. We waited outside and enjoyed chips, salsa and beverages. Once seated our waiter promptly took our drink & food order. We ordered Dart Bowl enchiladas and Rene's Awesome enchiladas. Both were good. Sadly the Sopapilla Cheesecake was sold out. The restaurant is small, is nice and has an Austin electic vibe. The staff were nice and attentive. There is first come bar seating. Overall good food, good service, but a long wait (we were a party of 2, waited over an hour and a half for a table). Their site does have a reserve a table option. If you have the time, are craving some solid Mexican food, and good adult or mocktail beverages give them a try.
Sometimes a little hard to get the table, but once you get in, you get one of the best selections of Mexican food in Austin. They're mole plates are really good and I enjoyed having chicken, enchiladas and mole. I'll definitely come back again to try their other stuff. The the salsa plate is also something to look out for where you can try multiple salsas at the same time with your chips.
I recently visited ElDorado and was immediately impressed even before I took my first bite. The place was buzzing with energy, and although I was told there’d be a 25 minute wait, I lucked out and was seated in just 10. That kind of start already set the tone for a great experience. The atmosphere? Relaxed, welcoming, and just the right kind of lively. It’s the kind of spot where you can kick back and enjoy good food without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Now let’s talk tacos. I ordered four different kinds, and every single one was a hit. But if you go, do yourself a favor and get Matt’s Everything Taco. It’s a flavor packed powerhouse fried egg, sausage, bacon, potato, hash, queso, jack cheese… it’s like breakfast and comfort food had a delicious baby. Honestly, it was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, rounding out the meal perfectly. And shoutout to our waiter friendly, knowledgeable, and quick with the service. He helped us navigate the menu and made sure everything ran smoothly. If you’re in the area and craving bold flavors with a laid back vibe, ElDorado is a must visit. I’ll definitely be back.
We hired Eldorado Cafe to cater at our wedding reception and couldn't have been happier with our choice! They were very helpful and accomodating in the planning phase, timely and efficient on the day of the wedding, and were very kind to our guests during service. There was more than enough food for everyone (including our guests with dietary restrictions) and we had plenty of food to give away and take home. Our guests loved the food!
An excellent Mexican cuisine with plenty of options for vegetarian and vegan folks. Right from the get go of their chips and salsa sampler to every dish we ordered was so yummy and plentiful. This is an excellent place for anyone who loves Mexican food. A very simple ambience nothing to mention, but the service is awesome and great many people that care and serve you. They patiently answered our questions, made very good suggestions and the result is we all loved 😍 the food.
Eldorado Café in Austin is a gem for comforting Tex-Mex cuisine with a unique twist. The food is flavorful, fresh, and served in generous portions, with the carnitas and enchiladas being crowd favorites. Their margaritas and creative cocktails are a must-try, perfectly complementing the menu. The service is warm and attentive, making every visit feel special. The cozy ambiance adds to the charm, perfect for both casual meals and celebrations. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Austin vibes with delicious food!
Delish food. I still want to return for another salsa flight and try more dishes! Good margarita, good chile relleno, good carne. Nothing was disappointing.

We had a delicious take out dinner. Everything that we ordered was very good and we were able to order a container of pre-mixed margarita's that was delicious.
Definitely a twist on your average Mexican food restaurant. The salsa sampler is pretty cool but half of them were too spicy to enjoy unfortunately, and I usually ike the heat. The margaritas are fabulous. Best queso in town. Didn’t expect ribs or potatoes bites for appetizers but they were delicious. Also, definitely recommend the chocolate mousse.

We had a reservation yet the table was a curved corner for party of 7. We were very uncomfortable in our corner diamond shaped booth. The salsas were great thus the 3 star for food. Rest all was pretty a ok kind of fare. The carnitas plates for $23 with oil dripping meat floss kind of meat( barely two chunks of meat rest all was just oil soaked meat floss) was not only sad but a disappointment thankfully the server finally showed up to ask how was the food and I got a replacement meal but it came too late all our party had already eaten. It was not a great first visit. As i had to come home and eat my meal. The server did not even ask for our desert orders. It was sad.
The expectation was high, given all the hype, but I found the food good but not exceptional. Both the food, but especially the cocktails, were rather pricey. It's one of those restaurants that I might come back to if I'm starving and in the neighborhood (but expect a long wait for your table) but I'd not go out of my way to get to or recommend to friends. Overall, good.
I am so very confused on how this place has such a high rating?!? It is legit the most mid spot. A plus, they give you free salsa and chips or queso while you wait and another when you're seated. T…
