We go to Waterloo Icehouse on Burnet a lot. I really enjoy the food and people. For instance, when we just had a big group Gio took drink orders as soon as anybody arrived and had us served before the next people joined us and did the same for them, and then the next... And then he brought the food fast and Gio kept checking our drinks taking dessert orders. Some of our food favorites: crispy chicken salad, Baja salad, boneless chicken wings, sliders, tripledecker quesadillas, and fish'n'chips. They treat you right😃.

Felt like I was having breakfast at my mom's house. Our server made my family feel like family and the biscuits... Literally the most delicious I've ever had in my life. Made me wish I lived in Texas.

Waterloo Ice House has been quietly doing their thing for decades in Austin. Unassuming, flying under the radar, but serving up some quality eats. I tend to forget about Waterloo but it's not because I don't like them, it's their unassuming nature! I used to visit Waterloo quite often and would almost always get a chili cheese burger with a side of tater tots so when I made my most recent visit I stuck with that order and look at this beast! Anyway, go visit them!

They were able to seata large group quickly. There was enough variation in the menu that everyone from the one year-old to the 65-year-old were satisfied completely with the food choices the menu and the service.

This is our Subdays breakfast place. Service is excelent. The food is well prepared and served fast and 🔥 hot. Outside patio is nice when the weather cooperates in Austin.

I've been going to this Waterloo Icehouse location since I was 18 (I'm 42 as of writing this). They've always had an extraordinary staff, like Dylan, who waits on our business networking group every Tuesday morning. The vibe here is very much Austin 20 plus years ago. I used to come for $5 domestic pictures and half price wings. Nowadays, I mainly come for breakfast or brunch. They may not offer $5 pitchers and half price wings anymore, but inflation sure hasn't taken the toll here like it has at some other iconic Austin restaurants. Glad to see this place is still doing well.

I ordered the pulled pork quesadillas through Favor and was extremely pleased. The Favor driver was able to pick it up immediately and the quesadillas were amazing. Will have to visit this place in person when I have a chance.

Was looking for a good restaurant to eat with the family for the weekend and Sam gave us this recommendation will also pointing out favorite entrées that we all absolutely enjoyed!!! Would definitely eat here again, or recommend to somebody else.

Really enjoyed dinner with my wife here tonight. Wednesdays are happy hour all day and I got $6 fish sliders which were delicious and filled me up with the help of a house salad. Best of all, they are doing live music and “Justin” playing some great covers and originals really added a lot to the atmosphere. Keep the live music coming, please!

Great service. Here you order at the bar and then they will bring your food to the table. The chicken fried steak was nice and crispy, i could have eaten a lb of it it was so good. The fried pickles were nice to start with and they had a spice honey ranch that was good with them. Plenty of tables open and games on tv.

Come see Chris or Amanda at the bar on Saturday and Sundays. Brunch is great! Everything on the menu is fabulous. Low cost Mimosas, and great Bloody Marys. Coffee is always fresh and hot. If you haven't tried the pork chop its one of the best I've ever had. Takes a little longer to cook but, it is worth the wait! It is tender, juicy and has a great grilled flavor.

First time in Austin and this place was a great choice for breakfast! Stopped by on a Sunday before it got too busy and Dawson took good care of us. We have ordered To Go food on Saturdays for several months, our orders are always perfect, on time, and the food is delicious. We really appreciate the labeling of our food and the care taken to pack the to go bags. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful, not dismissive of pick up orders like other places have been before. We always enjoy our experience here. The ambience of family friendliness, genuine southern hospitality, and good prices are a trio made in heaven.

Waterloo has a great Thursday special if you are into wings. Their boneless wings are only .50 each and comes with a dipping sauce. They are fresh made. Service is very good and it has a nice atmosphere.

Sarah Ruth was wonderful all around. Great service, always on time. Pays extra attention to details and never had empty cups. Our order came out perfect with no mess ups. Definitely coming back.

This place has been far been the best place I found to eat when here in Austin. Had the pork chop royale was most excellent and worth the wait. The server didn’t give his name but was on point with refilling the water and checking on his customers. I wanted to try the peanut butter pie but was too full. I will be back when I am in town.

God I love their breakfast here! The pancakes... Dear Lord. Huge Great tasting pancakes! Don't even get me started with their biscuits. These biscuits are fluffy and great tasting! For some reason I love their coffee there. For all I know it might be regular cheap coffee but tastes hella good to me. Super hearty food for the price.

This is a place full of regulars as the employees seemed to know the first name of each person who walked in the door. Was surprised by how delicious and fresh my hummus platter came out and you can't beat a $4 happy hour margarita. Friendly and helpful staff plus an interesting menu of healthy options, nothing over $20. Atmosphere has a dated vibe, perhaps even dive bar-ish.

Nice place for old fashioned burgers with beer! Pleasant neighborhood feel to it. They're busy and a bit understaffed. But the employees are doing the best they can and they have good attitudes. The chicken fried steak is good too. Actually every time I go I try something different and it's all good! Too bad I don't live close by. I get out here only a couple times per month.

Waterloo Ice House has great comfort food. Wednesday is all day Happy Hour! Sarah was friendly and helpful, courteous and kind. I recommend the $5 Margarita's with the Catfish bites as an appetizer and the steak dinner. Steaks made to order with loaded baked potato. I had squash instead of green beans because they come with bacon. Live music starts at 6 pm! Overall great visit for my first time there.

This place has been around for years and I hope it stays that way. The food is great, you want a fat burger come here for one...you'll thank me later. The breakfast is great too along with the chicken fried steak...it's made just right. I'm there every Friday after work to enjoy a good meal and the atmosphere...very nice. Went in for a Sunday brunch with my family and absolutely loved everything about it! The fun bar atmosphere for the adults combined with the comforting vibes for the kids blended together so perfectly for my family. Our waiter, Chelsea was very attentive and created a homely environment, making it easy to talk to her and ask for anything we needed. I ordered the Santa Monica Burrito and although I’m not a huge fan of avocados, this burrito wouldn’t be the same without it! The ranchero sauce was so rich and brought out all the flavors within the burrito. Overall an amazing experience, and I’d love to come again for another Sunday brunch!!

$5 frozen margaritas ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! I thought it was just for happy hour, but was pleasantly mistaken! Tried a regular frozen margarita and a blackberry one (for ,only 75 cents more! Definitely worth it!) Very good and strong. Also got the fried mushrooms (delicious! Hot, juicy, and flavorful, crispy breading ) and a build your own breakfast taco, which was honestly impeccably made so that each bite had the perfect ratio of ingredients! Definitely coming back, this was a great meal and the prices were fantastic! 😍

Fun bar and cafe with an extensive menu of drinks and Southwest comfort food. I love their nachos grande with roasted vegetables and happy hour drink specials. This location has a couple large rooms of tables and a large shaded patio on its north side. It also has a large parking lot and is at an intersection with a traffic light making it easy to turn out of.

We Went around lunch time but had breakfast and it was slow at first so it was nice being able to pick our table. The music was on point too. Loved the chicken fried chicken, the breading was on there nice and didn’t fall apart. My eggs were over cooked but didn’t feel like complaining so pushed through. The sausage had a good flavor but seemed to be overcooked also. Still good though. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and the syrup had a sweet flavor. My boyfriend got scrambled eggs w/sausage and hashbrowns - no complaints there (or ever lol). The hashbrowns to me were okay. Not a fan of shredded but will say I liked the thickness on them. Overall 10/10 would come back to try lunch when we can eat bread again bc sadly we weren’t able to try their biscuits :,) oh! And we tried the queso fries, at first I wasn’t sure what I was looking at but then the queso was all at the bottom and we mixed it around and it was SO GOOD.

Waterloo was great! Mexican breakfast tacos were awesome! Service was great. The atmosphere was nice. Clean place, family friendly. Not sure what more you could ask from a restaurant. I only had the breakfast tacos, my buddy got the pulled pork sandwich and liked it. I would eat here again for sure. Waterloo is currently doing hot dogs until the world series ends. I figured I might as well try it. I got The Bulldog, which is a chili cheese dog. The chili is Texas style, no beans. The hot dog itself is huge. A lot of cheese on top and onions. Overall it was a good quality hot dog and a good side of onion rings. Aways friendly service at Waterloo on Burnet. Solid, diverse menu. Something for everyone. Update: hadn't been in a long time, due to working at home. Went today and got the pulled pork taco's. Really good. I will be going back soon.

The picture is my Waterloo Hash with ham. The only problem is I requested the eggs to be over easy and they were over cooked; not runny at all. The rest of the dish was good though. My husband had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are always huge and delicious. Even more delicious with the sausage gravy.

The staff was so friendly. I ordered the veggie hash and a pecan pancake. I asked for a few modifications on my hash and they got everything right. I asked for my eggs to be hard scrambled and the vegetables to be cooked for a longer amount of time. I like soft sautéed veggies. The potatoes were not crispy which was a little disappointing but it was not a big deal. Everything was delicious the veggies were very tasty. The pancake was good but I think the batter was a little bit too sweet for me. I think they should add the pecans to the batter and not just to the top. Food is good but small portions. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter and come back to pick it up. They recently change their menu and prices but some menus reflect the change and some don’t. So it’s confusing. Like that they have a patio and are dog friendly. They even have a separate water dispenser on the patio along with clean dog bowls.

I found the service to be quite average.  It took a while for my server to notice me. It was a Sunday, in the early afternoon, and they weren't particularly busy with patrons.  But employees were busy with each other.  When I ate, I felt like I was dining in their space. My meal was tasty, though. My pancakes had light texture and were cooked just the right amount, and my eggs came out right. Only complaint is that most of the eggs came out in very small pieces, which made it difficult to pick up. I don't know if I'll return here.

Not impressed, to be fair I did order for pick up so I understand food isn’t going to be as “nice” as if you were to eat in store. Got an order of queso fries, house salad with ranch (no tomatoes), and chicken fried steak with bacon green beans and mashed potatoes as my sides. Queso fries say they have bacon and chives in the description. I got a small box of cold fries and a separate small half filled container of queso. Salad had no complaints as they read my “no tomatoes!” In the notes section. Chicken fried steak was so depressing. This is what I came here for. I googled “chicken fried steak near me” and this place popped up. The steak was so dry and thin. Breading was nice tho. Gravy was watery with no flavor. Green beans had absolutely no flavor even tho you could see actual pieces of bacon? It’s like they boiled green beans and bacon together and then plated them. Mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes. Nothing exciting. $30.27 or $41.86 with tip for such a disappointing flavorless meal. Employees seemed very nice and welcoming and restaurant seemed clean though!! I hate leaving bad reviews, especially for a restaurant that has been around for a long time. My friends and I met up for brunch, getting seated was no problem, but our waiter would disappear for 10 minutes at a time. Only refilled our coffee once during our entire brunch, and when we were ready to order we had to really get his attention. Secondly, I ordered the breakfast burrito and I can’t tell you what was in it. My partner got the eggs Benedict which were over cooked. Again I hate leaving bad reviews, but wasn’t good.

Chicken fried steak is nothing to write home about. Not sure about these other reviews. But the chicken fried steaks tasted like batter. No flavor in the batter or gravy The fries have way more flavor than the cfs. Also the Mac and cheese was dry and not cheesy at all. Was hoping for better.

Food was good. We where they only people in the restaurant, the server managed to mess up my order twice. He also was touching a dog then went and touched plates in the window.

I had a pickup order 2-22-26 4:10 pm... I value and have a great deal of respect for everything involving the food industry it's not easy work. I ordered hamburger sliders ranch, and sweet chilli wings it was good. But the disappointment was with the Philly cheese steak and that was the main reason for me ordering here it came with no cheese and literally not even a 1/4 of meat the mayo came on the side and I didn't voice that to be done. If we're paying $20 for a sandwich put some meat on that bad boy I'm only posting to so it can get better GOD bless

This place gets very busy at lunch time. I decided to come for a few drinks and no bartender in sight. I watched 2 people at the bar get fed up and leave bc there was no bartender. The guy that took my order didn’t even know what a hefeweizen or irish car bomb was, very concerning. For the amount of people that come here I would highly suggest a few more employees. It’s not fair to the guest or the over worked employees.

I have been eating at this Waterloo since it was a Mexican food place before it. I used to love coming here for any of the three meal times. But it's been awhile since I was last in there, until today. I ventured in for lunch and had their special of 50 cent boneless chicken wings. Buffalo sauce was not my favorite, which I can look past that for personal taste. However, in the minute I watched my plate go from the cook's warming shelf, to the counter, to my table, why were my wings as cold as like they have been sitting out for 3-4 hours in the air conditioning? I called the guy over from the counter and asked him to have the cook put them under the broiler to warm them up, and bring them back to me. No problem. What I think happened is that the cook used a refrigerated sauce for the wings instead of a warm sauce. I finished my food and left in a pretty upset state. 1 star for food. 1 star for the guy taking my food back to be heated up, otherwise complete self-serve lunch, so not really any service at all to rate. 1 star for the atmosphere due it it being super dark inside like a downtown bar. This place used to be a great place to eat at, seeing old neighborhood friends from time to time and always a plate of hot food. This trip was not it for me, and I will not return again after eating here all these years. This does not have to be like this! I wish you all the best.

I'll never know how this place has received 4 1/2 stars. Must be a whole Lotta people with seriously low standards. The steak had absolutely no flavor to it. It was as if it had been soaking in water...straight out of the freezer. The beans were equivalent to a .29C can of "ends and pieces "...nothing but stems and ends. The baked potato taste like it was baked at 5 am. Or maybe even the day before. Never Again. One star because you can't vote no stars.

When we FIRST walked in we seated ourselves. Waiter was very prompt in greeting us and getting our drink order. Coffee showed up without creamer, tea was unsweetened when sweet was requested. When asked if we were ready to order we requested a FEW more minutes. The waiter then began conversations with coworkers, greeted other tables and brought their drinks near our table without acknowledging our presence. We waited 15 minutes before walking.

Honestly this place has pretty bad food. The chicken was dry and the mash potatoes had a weird kind of fishy after taste to them. The green beans were not seasoned. My wife got the fish and chips. Way more breading than fish, breading was not seasoned and the fries were cold. The server was nice. But will definitely not return.
