Stopped in for a quick minute after hearing about them previous night. Had the Carrot Cake cupcake. Let's just say I should have bought more!!!! So now I have a cupcake spot I can go when I visit Austin. If only I had more time. Loved the food and the service!!! Can't wait to go back!!!!
I placed an order for delivery and it arrived unsquashed or damaged. All the cupcakes were beautifully designed and large! They weren't overly sweet but definitely took care of my sweet tooth craving. I also loved how they offer a vegan cupcake!! Super awesome for my friends who are allergic to normal things.
The cupcakes here are amazing. While shopping on Congress its worth a stop to visit this cool old trailer with friendly service and great cupcakes. Outdoor dining only but worth it. Relaxed atmosphere and can even catch some live music across the street some nights while enjoying the melt in your mouth cupcakes. Red Velvet are my favorite.
Delicious! Moist, perfect, one of the best cupcakes I've had. I got the Sweetberry flavor (highly recommend)!
The Tuxedo cupcake is amazing, and I always grab at least one when I stop by. The seasonal and weekly flavors are always fun as well.

If you have not had their cupcakes then you definately need to try them. They are the best i have ever had. They are a bit pricey but still very worth it. I give them a definate thumbs up.
Hey Cupcake is great. It's such a cool concept and the people of Austin love it. It's a fun trailer, but only because these are the best cupcakes you will find.
If you love sweets I highly suggest that you check out hey cup cake. They have several trailers around austin. They have several unique cop cakes such as the Michael Jackson with chocolate cake with white icing =(wrong I know but its so good lol)... If you come to Austin make sure you go to hey cup cake
Great place to stop on SoCo when your sweet tooth hits. All their cupcakes are good. But my favorites are the 24 Karat Gold and the Michael Jackson.
24 Carrot Cupcake was amazing!! best carrot cupcake i have ever had. The trailer is absolutely adorable and hard to miss on S. Congress.
great for a date. or even just for a night on the town, if visiting soco area in austin be sure to swing by their NEW location. defintiely in for a treat if so. the best cupcakes have bacon, and the silver liner food truck is very hard to miss. the staff is always quarky and funn. and prices are resonible enough for anyone. (there are multiple locations).
Best cupcakes of all time!! I haven't met a cupcake here i didn't like! Great location too!! Within walking distance of all the must see Austin attractions.
Hey Cupcake, hell yeah. I'm not a huge fan of sweets but when I'm in the mood for a seriously amazing cupcake, Hey Cupcake always delivers. I love the trailer idea and the carrot cake cupcake seriously changed my life.
Yummy cupcakes straight out of a trailer!!! My favorite is the red velvet one. Si most and delicious. Frosting is great!!! Unique and tasty
I would like to express the amazing outstanding customer service I received at the soco location by the name of a young man Estefan the the care the knowledge and friendliness was above & beyond we definitely will be back at this location as long as this young man is serving us of course the product was good too, 👏👏 for you estefan
I mean, it's cupcakes but with that good fluffy icing and amazing flavors like carrt cake cupcakes. Grab a slice of pizza nearby, check out the shops, then grab one of these cupcakes and go home. SO GOOD.
Simply delicious!!! The sampler is fun to share between two (or by yourself)! The vanilla dream is wonderful as is the red velvet. Try them all!
Have you ever dreamed about a delicious cupcake, then gone to the grocery store and settled for the bakery version only to be supremely disappointed by the obvious lack of freshness and terrible ingredients, inwardly groaning as you stuffed the last flavorless bits into your mouth and wished there was something better??? Maybe I’m the only person that has happened to, but if there are more of you out there, do yourself a solid and try out Hey Cupcake. It is literally the cupcake you’ve been dreaming about your entire life. You can trust me. I never exaggerate and I’m super serious about my cupcake quality.
Love these cupcakes! My favorite is the Sweetberry, but everyone talks about the Red Velvet so that's what I'm going to try next! They are open different times depending what days, so make sure you look it up before going.
Still the best! The surgery high point of any stroll around S. Congress. The classic Airstream trailers instantly endear the cupcake junkies but it's the moist cake and less sweet icing that really makes Hey Cupcake! my favorite.
So utterly cute! Great location on South Congress. Decor can't be beat. Cupcakes aren't the bestest in the whole wide world, but they are a great, convenient treat after trailer food. :)
Amazing cupcakes! So dense and delicious. Grest location, turf for the kids to play on, great people watching, just real hot in the summer-no shade. Parking is a pain but worth it. Right across from Gueros so if you're there on a weekend you might get to hear their live music while you much on a cake.
Easily the best cupcakes I've ever had. They're pretty attractive looking cupcakes as well, if you're into that. Personally I just want them to taste good. These people have a gift for making cupcakes and they should treated as gods.
I always stop by anytime I find myself on South Congress. They offer a vegan cupcake and seasonal flavors of the month. Trucks can be found all around Austin, so you'll never be without cupcakes!
I love the Michael Jackson cupcake with botox (chocolate cupcake with creamcheese frosting and whip cream injected in the middle)! It is a little pricey but the cupcakes are pretty big. Go to their website for buy 1 get 1 free deal. Also they do take the Go Local card for 10% off your purchase.
Always a great choice if you have the opportunity to grab a cupcake. Red velvet, standard, or any chocolate cupcake is a can't miss. We have them delivered to our office as a treat and staff loves them. Worth the extra calories!
The cupcakes are exceptional. As a baker, I admire the flavor and texture of the cupcakes. Although they are $3 a pop, it's well worth the money. I recommend the strawberry cupcake. It is incredibly moist and full of strawberry flavor; you can taste that they use fresh strawberries instead of an artificial flavor or syrup.
Sometimes I find their cupcakes to be a little dry but overall they are very good. I have had better cupcakes than Hey Cupcake BUT they do an amazing job marketing themselves and the experience is fantastic. They make mini versions that make a great gift.
Chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing rocks my face! Get a shot of whipped cream inside your cupcake for free. This is one of my most frequent foodie debates. Lots of other favorite cupcakes in town but I like the little bits of chocolate in this one plus the bittersweet icing piled on top. Almost every time I have had one, they have been moist and fresh. I can't testify for the other flavors because I love the Double Dose so much it is usually all I get.
Hey Cupcake has the best cupcakes-they are moist and rich and there's plenty of frosting and who can forget the whipper snapper! This is like my dream job, what a great idea! I love the Snowcap and the Double Chocolate. I'm sure the other flavors are great, but it's hard for me to pass up chocolate!
I can understand the hype over this place- some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. Yes they are expensive, but for an occasional treat these are totally worth it. I will say that the girl got our order wrong and we didn't realize it until we got home, but it was still pretty good. Just make sure you check in the box before you leave.
So good! Not over the top with the icing like some other places. Actual cupcake was moist and delicious. I got their seasonal Coconut cream cupcake, not sure of the actual name but if heaven was a cupcake that's what it would taste like! Best cupcake I've had. ❤
My wife was visiting her sister in Austin and brought back a churro cupcake. It was amazing! All of the other flavors look terrific, too! We will definitely go back when in town. Come to think of it, isn't it strange she only brought me back one cupcake?
Julissa helped me order 13 cupcakes for my to-be sister-in-law’s bachelorette in Austin (I live in DC and couldn’t come). I wanted custom cupcakes with pictures on toothpicks — not a simple order! She was responsive, thoughtful, and so so helpful! Delivery was on time and the treats were a hit! Thank you!!
I love Hey Cupcake! They always have the friendliest staff. I hadn't been in a while but I stopped in with family from out of town and they are now offering ice cream as well. It's fantastic! Cupcakes and ice cream, can't go wrong with that mix.

Service was nonexistent, but I enjoyed the cupcakes. The vanilla with chocolate frosting wasn’t as moist as the strawberry one, which was my fave. They weren’t out of this world delicious or particularly inventive, but they definitely satisfied my cupcake craving. The carrot cake has a nice flavor. All of the frostings were a bit too sweet for my taste, but that’s just a preference.

These cupcake are good and the icing is delicious. The cupcakes are either really good or undercooked. It is definitely an austin thing to do but very overpriced
Hey cupcake is a cute little place. The cupcakes are great especially the chocolate. However, I took off a star because I think they can be a little pricy. This is definitely not a place to go regularly because it can add up.
It's all about the whippersnappers (dont know if that is spelled correctly). Yup that's right they take a cupcake and infuse it with whipped cream. I'm a red velvet cupcake person, and at Hey Cupcake they do pretty good job. One problem is that it is a food truck, and I have never been a fan of eating a cupcake on really hot days, but that's just me.
A cute little cupcake shop located on the South Congress strip! The cupcakes are super good and the presentation is superb. The environment is fun and very inviting!
I liked the Red Velvet. But then they made Sweet Berry. Now I just buy two cupcakes. The frosting is a bit overwhelming but I just wipe it off.
First time here I was lost searching for the airport and it was storming outside. My friend says hey lets get cupcakes and unwillingly, we did. Get a cupcake and have them fill it with cream! The best foods are the fattening ones!
Who doesn't love cupcakes? This is an awesome trailer with super friendly service and yummy treats! If you spot them in your hood, get a cupcake.
Ordered 6 different cupcakes so we could try them all...They were delicious. We also tried the ice cream, it was yummy.
Hey Cupcake is another local landmark. Delicious cupcakes, and big too! They are always fresh and flavorful. This location can get pretty busy though, and if it is a hot day the cupcakes can start to melt quick.
Had the coffee cupcake with espresso butter cream icing. Very tasty, but the cake was a little over moist and the icing more sweet than espresso flavored. I'd go back a few more times and try other flavors.
Hey Cupcake! is the perfect cupcake trailer destination. Their cakes aren't expensive, and they're absolutely delicious. The people working there make it seem like they enjoy their job, definitely service with a smile!
Hey Cupcake! is a wonderful Austin business that has great customer service and delicious cupcakes. Their cupcakes are uniquely large compared to other cupcake places. They also have a variety of flavors and they provide catering which is awesome! THANKS HEY CUPCAKE!!!
Our famous cupcake trailer has been giving us delicious, freshly made cupcakes every single day. And if you go during the fall they have the Pumpkinator that is incredible!
The cupcakes are delicious when you try it the first couple times. After going there for more than a year, I got tired of it honestly. But I think it is in a cute area where they are the best dessert place around there. Go there!
Hey! Cupcakes is awesome. The tiny trailer food trucks are easy and fast to locate. They have an assortment of different cupcakes that are good tasting.
I'm not a huge fan of cupcakes in general but this spot makes delicious cupcakes. I tried the tuxedo. The cream cheese frosting was great, and the cake texture was just the right amount of moisture and density. At $3.50 per cupcake I rate it a solid 4/5.
It was a dark and stormy night. No, really it was. My lady and I were walking back to the car from dinner, and she said "Hey Cupcake!" To which I stared at her puzzled to why I was being called cupcake. She then pointed to the food truck across the street and said it again. I sheepishly said "Oh," followed by an easy "Well, now we have to go try it." Since it was pretty rainy weather outside there already wasn't a whole lot of people out and about so we had no wait, but were quickly greeted by the friendly gal at the window who started a conversation while I looked over the menu. Asked us a few questions if we had been there before and we mentioned we were just visiting from Colorado. She was happy to help make some recommendations and fan favorites. Being full from dinner we ended up getting only the Sweetberry cupcake, but on the first bite, we immediately wanted more. I was expecting a very dense cupcake with a overpowering sugary frosting, but the cupcake was very light and fluffy, but not falling apart. It actually reminded me of that $10,000 wedding cake you sometimes get to sample in its texture and consistency. The frosting too was actually really not all that sweet in that it was complemented by the strawberry cream cheese frosting which has its own sweetness, so the flavor of the strawberries really came through. We ended up going back the next day and got the Unicorn and Red Velvet cupcakes which were both as equally awesome as the Sweetberry. I am not all that versed in Cupcake prices as I don't really eat desserts all that much if at all, but for a cupcake I think the price was a tad bit too high for what I was expecting, but given it being a food truck and a small business I didn't really mind all that much. They have to pay the bills and the time to sit in that little trailer all day. Overall for me my experience was very good as were the cupcakes, and when I go back to hit up Home Slice, I will certainly end my night across the street at Hey Cupcake!
Even though I feel like cupcake dessert places are on a bit of a decline, I still like Hey Cupcake! It is a little pricey for a cupcake but comparable to Coolhaus and other low key dessert places. All in all, I prefer ice cream over cupcakes but it's nice to mix it up every once in awhile.
Hey Cupcake. Who you calling cupcake? My friend and I were visiting from Boston and San Francisco. We've both had our fair share of delicious fairy cakes on each side of the coast and we agree the cupcakes here were fresher and more flavorful than any other. I had the carrot cupcake there were flecks of fresh carrots inside the moist cake. The creme cheese frosting was just the right balance of simple ingredients- creme cheese, butter, sugar. We sat outside near the revolving cupcake on top of their air stream trailer listened to the country singer play in the distance while enjoying the Texan heat.
Oh Cupcakes, you sweet little things. :) Hey Cupcakes is pretty good but nothing extraordinary. They seem to have simple and good recipes but sometimes I would like to see them step out of the box and trying something a little un-ordinary. But generally speaking, the food trucks are quick fixes for a sweet tooth.
The icing is good but the cake is dry. It's over hyped but it's a decent cupcake. Expensive for average taste. Go to Sugar Mama's Bakeshop instead
Decent food. Foul customer service. Cupcakes need to be more moist, and either larger or cheaper. Customer service needs to have more smiles (or at least any smile, really) and less attitude.
Friendly service. I had the strawberry cupcake. Not the best cupcake ever. I like my icing sweet and a little thicker.
VERY disappointed. These used to be a favorite, but no more. The cupcakes were stale! They used to be fresh daily! I guess that is not a thing of the past.
Hey Cupcake is a whimsical silver trailer parked in the trailer food court on South Congress. I give the place high points for originality in the cupcake names; for example, the Michael Jackson cupcake was chocolate with white frosting. As an added bonus, customers have the option of adding whipped cream inserted into the cupcake. I didn't opt for that, but perhaps it would have improved what was otherwise seemed to be a pretty standard cake mix cupcake.
Seriously do not understand the love for Hey Cupcake. Driest. Cupcake. Ever. Tasted like it was made out of a box mix. Their flavors are creative enough, I guess, but they're no more creative than you'd find at Delish or at Cupprimo or at Lick It, Bite It, or Both. I've had one cupcake here and have no reason to ever have another one. Dry and flavorless is not what I'm looking for in an expensive cupcake.
In the great cupcake wars of the early 21st century Hey Cupcake! did ok. They were not the best but they were not the worst. Ok, so a lot of the hype behind this dessert food truck goes back to the fact that they were one of the original food trucks here in Austin. So they have that going for them, longevity. BUT, over the years the cupcakes have not had consistency. At times the cupcakes and icing have not been moist and another thing is the price, a little over priced for what in the end is a cupcake. Go there for the experience and to get that Austin cupcake merit badge!
I had the Piña Colada Cupcake and it was a little dry but still good flavor and presentation. Part of my sister's was a little to dry for her taste and she ended up feeding it to the bird's (literally) lol!
i came here to check it off my "Austin List". now that I've been here i probably won't return. the cupcakes aren't outrageously priced but if your main item is cupcakes it needs to be outstanding. unfortunately the cake was dry and it seemed like having them filled was compensation. i'm not a fan, it's just okay and that's not enough to draw me back. please work on the moisture level of your cupcakes. thank you.
The place is nice and quirky but I don't get how these cupcakes are loved by so many people. They are really dry and expensive. I don't mind paying money for a good pastry but I've tried better ones in grocery stores. They have some interesting flavors, none of which I liked except for the traditional cupcake. They are large cupcakes so if you want something sweet these will knock that sweet tooth right out and make you feel like you should walk back home instead of taking the car. They are worth trying to see what the buzz is about but, if you already have a cupcake you love then odds are that these won't be better.
We had to stop by and get one since they were all the rave. I found mine to be dry and simple. Hopefully you have a better experience with an expensive cupcake. 😂
Not very inspiring. The only difference I see between these cupcakes and a Wal-Mart/GreatValue piece of crap are there excessive amount of frosting on the top, and maybe even the bigger amount of cake that is outside the normal. Otherwise, the cake is not special. There is not much flavor as I eat it, and the frosting is the same story. They have creative names for their cakes, but... it does not amount to the $4-$6 bucks you pay for it. Don't waste the time or money.
My wife and I always make it a point to stop and get a few cupcakes when we are in town but this last time I can honestly say I was disappointed. Not with the service or selection, but the taste. Something in their recipe is different and the cupcake tastes bland and the frosting tastes artificially sweetened. They're still ok but not worth the price anymore. I may go back to try them out next time and if it's the same it'll be a shame to say goodbye to those once glorious cupcakes.
Nothing inventive about this place or its flavors. My red velvet cupcake was super dense and flavorless and the frosting was way too sugary. My husband liked the Michael Jackson. I wouldn't return, personally, but if you need a snack after a night out, it's a good quick stop.
Just purchased 4 cups after years of not being able to go. This used to be my favorite place and was excited my girlfriend was trying it for the first time. The icing and decorations are great, but the actual bread was very dense and extremely dry. Not the same Hey Cupcake! I remember. Very disappointed
I really like the idea and the service. The execution was lacking though. My girlfriend and I decided to grab a set of cups one rainy day and were sadly disappointed. The service was great greeted with a smile and what not, but the two cups I got were lacking in the texture department. The flavor was on point, but the cake itself was very dense. The stark contrast between creamy, tasty frosting, and the very dense cake was too much. I'll give this place another shot, but as of now 2 stars for service alone

Save your money. I took a bite and was disappointed. My friend ate most of the chocolate. When purchased it was stale. Rude customer service. I asked for the box and the girl literally side rolled and acted like I was asking for too much. This cost $7 Don’t waste your money.
Over rated in my opinion. Betty Crocker is better. My red velvet cupcake was dry. This was the 2nd time I went and the 2nd dry cupcake I got..it will be my last
Bought a box of four for $18, the Valentine's Day box, from the trailer at Mueller park. Cupcakes were stale, bland, dry, and crumbly. Frosting is okay, just hard to enjoy when the cupcake falls apart underneath it. We had their light and spongy cupcakes for our wedding in 2014, and I wanted to bring some of that home, but it just made us actually kind of angry to see such an iconic brand fall apart. Go back to the old recipe, bring back just-in-time baking in the trailer, and drop the extra stuff off your menu.

First visit here. Not impressed. The cupcake was Cold. The Bread tasted old. The frosting was good, but the bread itself Not. I pay for QUALITY. This is not worth $4 bucks .
Went there tonight with my daughter and Oh my goodness what happened to hey cupcake..... Worst cupcake I've ever had. SO dry. And WAY too sweet. Sorry but Im done with this shop. Wasted 8 bucks. OWNER listen to the reviews....
Was truly stunned at how well we were ignored while we were standing in front of the window waiting for some acknowledgement. Someone was in the trailer, walking between the register and somewhere else and never once addressed us. We ended up walking away and took our business elsewhere.
Had it this weekend for the first time in 3 years. Not nearly what they used to be. The taste is all wrong. I’m so sad that they sold to a new owner but obviously did not keep up with quality. I was a long term customer but not anymore.
I’m so disappointed in our cupcakes. We went and couldn’t wait to get some cupcakes that have been my favorite for years. The icing is totally different and the cake was bland. I’m guessing the recipe has changed or they sold to someone different. I’m so sad....
Bought 6 cupcakes today to celebrate my daughter's 29th birthday. We were so disappointed 😞 The cupcakes were dry and hard
We drove in from Bastrop hoping to stop by and get desserts for my family, the person inside happen to turn off the lights and said they were closed. However there was no sign posted and the website was not updated. Very disappointed in their customer service.
Stopped in Friday afternoon, thought I would give you another chance. This time I ordered the classic. Took one bite and spit it out. Dry and crumbly. Icing was a bit...sour. For $3.50 I expected more. I tried the Red Velvet a couple of years ago...different cupcake same story.
This was my girlfriend's favorite cupcake shop... But it's kind of awful now. Our cupcakes were so dense, very crumbly, and too sweet. Also the cashier asked me how much of a tip I wanted to leave. I've gotten better day old cupcakes from the grocery store.
Disappointing. We're visiting Austin and this place was recommended by some friends. Tried the sweetberry and the lemon cupcake. Both were dry, crumbly and top heavy. Flavor was ok and the cream cheese wasn't very sweet which is good....but it crumbled when you peel the liner off. They should've served it in a cup with a spoon or not serve it at all. Costs 3.50 but only worth maybe 1.50. Don't bother. Not worth it. There's so many other sweet places to try.
Used to be our favorite for cupcakes. Sadly, they have changed something and they just aren’t what they used to be. You can get a better cupcake at HEB. We have tried them at least 10 times before writing this review thinking we just went on a bad day but the recipe is definitely different. Such a disappointment :(
Cupcakes are dry as hell and taste like nothing. Don’t waste you time or calories. Threw ours in the dumpster as we were driving away. Go to Whole Foods instead…literally anywhere else.
The chick was cool, the cupcake was dryer than Texas heat (so much so that I fed it to the birds,) and the icing was too sweet for nothing else to match it. Stay at home and make your own cupcakes, it’s way worth it.
Worst cupcakes ever. There was no flavor to the cake or the frosting. The cake was dry and tasted more like flour than chocolate or vanilla and the frosting was gritty. I cannot understand how they have so many good reviews
I've lived in Austin twenty years. They used to have great food. Now they should be called "Hey Crapcake". I mean this place is BAD! Drier than the Nevada desert. Icing tasted worse than canned and was so old it had a hard shell with cracks. The cupcakes are now half size but same price. They have gone completely down hill. Save your money. Oh and they never have milk either. I mean who sells confections and can't keep milk in stock? Seriously?!
This place had the BEST cupcakes - so great, I’d travel 500 miles to buy a Double Dose with a shot of whipped cream! Unfortunately, the product has changed for the worse; the cupcake is crumbly and dry and they no longer offer the whipped cream shot. I’ve given this place a few tries in the past 2 years but it just doesn’t taste good anymore. I am forever mourning the loss of the original Hey Cupcake from 2007.
These cupcakes were gross. Dry, crumbly, BLAND, small, overly sweet frosting. I got the regular vanilla and the Standard (vanilla w/ chocolate icing). Not to mention, I went Sunday morning and they were almost out of every cupcake. I guess they bake cupcakes on one day of the week and sell them throughout. If I’m getting a week old cupcake (and a bad one at that) it should be put at a discount, NOT $4. I wouldn’t ever come back here, or recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed especially considering it’s in a great location next to the park.
Has Hey Cupcake lost their Hay Day? I think so. My recollection from a few years ago was very creamy and yummy cupcakes, definitely one of the better premier cupcakes in the Austin area. However, I ordered 4 mini dozen cupcakes for my son’s birthday yesterday, and disappointment was an understatement. The frosting was dry and hard, the cakes were stale. It seemed like they gathered left over cupcakes from a few weeks back for my order. The overall quality was less than HEB cupcakes which would have cost a lot less, and minus the long drive. Safe to say I will never come back or recommend Hey Cupcake to anyone.
Quality has definitely gone downhill. Ordered four cupcakes on a Sunday afternoon. All were quite dry like they'd been hanging around for some time. The Sweetberry cupcake had no real flavor and its frosting was just a sugar bomb. Definitely nothing that tasted of actual berry. The frosting on the vanilla dream cupcake tasted like vanilla out of a Duncan Hines tub rather than a real buttercream. The cream cheese frosting on the red velvet cupcake was better, but the cupcake was crumbly and dry. The seasonal pumpkin was the only cupcake that was moist, but it wasn't special enough to justify a $4 price tag.
We have been looking forward to trying Hey Cupcake for a while now and decided to make the trip for a friend's birthday. They all sounded so delicious, so we ended up purchasing a large 6 pack of varying flavors to share between five people. Unfortunately, all but one were a disappointment. They lacked flavor and they were dry and crumbly. 😒 On the bright side - our service was very pleasant and we did walk away with a smile.
