“It was amazing! The food and atmosphere are great. They’re very dedicated to their guests.
Writing this while it’s still fresh in my mind—what an incredible meal. We came for the prix-fixe, four-course Valentine’s Day dinner and were genuinely blown away. To start, the arancini were exquisite, paired with a perfectly balanced marinara. 9/10. The prosciutto appetizer with aged balsamic was very good as well—7/10. The risotto with peas and prosciutto was my standout of the night. Rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. 10/10. The fettuccini was excellent—9/10. The pollo (I can’t recall the full name) reminded me of a beautifully executed Pollo Milanese, served with an outstanding side of polenta. 9/10. And the limoncello cake was the perfect finish—bright, flavorful, and a definite 10/10. It’s rare for me to rate so many dishes this highly, and my wife felt the same. We honestly didn’t expect it to be this good. We’ll definitely be back to explore the à la carte menu. PS: Our reservation was at 9 PM on Valentine’s weekend, so I completely understand the circumstances—but the 30-minute wait between clearing the appetizer plates and serving the primi course felt a bit long. That said, service overall was excellent.
I had an amazing experience here. Visited from Dallas, and stopped by for dinner. All of the food that I ordered was prepared perfectly. The waiter was attentive and kind. My favorite Italian restaurant by far.
We went for the traditional Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fishes, and were definitely impressed. Stellar food, impeccable service and a master bartender made for a memorable experience. This is an easy five star recommendation.
My Husband and I came here with our families as a small little dinner after eloping and it was the perfect spot. Food was super good and the staff were all super sweet and congratulated us. Would love to come here for our anniversary or even just a date night.
I've been a fan of It's Italian Cucina since they first started as a small shop on E. 7th nearly a decade ago. Through frequenting It's Italian over the years, I've gotten to know both Al and Sharabella on a personal level. Sharabella's beautiful artwork is all over the walls, and Al has created a welcoming and fun atmosphere. What I love most about It's Italian is the food. I'm a vegetarian, and Al and his team are always willing to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The wine selection is top notch, and I love that they have cocktails and non-alcoholic options on the menu. I live in Seattle now, and I cannot find an Italian spot that comes close to It's Italian. When I go back to Austin, It's Italian will be one of the first stops.
Best Italian in 04. Recently my wife, infant son, and I tried It’s Italian Cucina. It’s a gorgeous little old school style Italian restaurant without the pretense you see with other restaurants around Austin. The wine list is reasonably priced and expansive, and the parmigiana was divine. I am really a fan of this restaurant and will eagerly go back!
Service was awesome! It was my first time here and the waiter walked up through the menu, shared the chefs specials that day aswell. For an app we got the aranchini super yummy, and the tomato sauce YUM. For dinner my husband got the chicken parm, he said it was good but the spaghetti was a lil too Al dente for his taste. I got the vegetable Alfredo with grilled chicken added. Loved it! I would definitely come again and try the prefixed menu!
We have come here a few times for our anniversary. The food is always delicious, great service, great drinks, and a beautiful place. The owner has always greeted us and stopped by to chat, which makes your experience even better. The salted caramel cheesecake was so good! We've tried several entrees and pasta and they are always amazing. This place is great!
OMG! Where have you been? I had no idea this restaurant existed. The food was amazing, service great. Wine list great. I will be back often. I had arancini, salmon with spaghetti, limincello mascarpone cake with Carmel drizzle. Topped off with a yummy cappuccino. Can't wait to try new items from the menu!
Delicious food and intimate atmosphere. Great for Date Night or a Girls Dinner. I’ve been here three times and each time I’ve been impressed. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu. I haven’t had a chance to sit out on the patio but once the weather gets cooler, I’m definitely taking advantage.
I’m visiting Austin and this restaurant exceeded my expectations. I cannot wait to visit this restaurant when I come back. Skyler, the general manager, provided the best service I have ever had. More managers should be as personable and thoughtful as him. The whole staff was a delight, and the food/drinks were just as good and authentic. The food is Northern Italian, and will make you crave Italian food now. Thank you for the amazing experience ❤️
Not sure how this gem hadn't crossed my radar sooner. Exceptional service and excellent food. The wine list was also a standout in both variety and value. The lobster ravioli was faultless - at first I was thrown off by what I thought was a strange pairing of flavors with the orange liqueur but it worked perfectly. Arancini and burrata were good, though some focaccia alongside it would have set the pair off. Tiramisu, also dang good. Looking forward to returning.
This place was incredible! I wasn't sure about it based on the unassuming name, but I was very pleasantly surprised. 😂 The prosciutto caprese appetizer is a must get. I loved the risotto and my wife was raving over the truffle fettuccine. Pricing and portions were fine, atmosphere was calm and enjoyable. Looked like a decent beer and wine selection. We will definitely be back for a date night.
Absolutely outstanding food—truly exceptional. The seared tuna Tonno and the beef carpaccio are completely without fault. Beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care and confidence. Every bite was impressive. I was genuinely blown away and have already recommended It’s Italia Cucina to at least half a dozen people based on the food alone. That said, the service is an area that could use some tightening up. We had to call a server over multiple times just to confirm that our requests were heard, and it wasn’t always clear who our actual server was, as different people kept popping in and out throughout the meal. Nothing rude—just disorganized and a bit distracting from an otherwise excellent dining experience. The kitchen is clearly doing something very right. With more consistency and clarity on the service side, this place would be truly stellar. I will absolutely be back, and I sincerely hope the front-of-house experience catches up to the level of the food.
We came here for new years and expected to have a show of some sort as to what we read there would be but restaurant was pretty dead for the eve and seemed like only the staff was therre to celebrate the 12oclock with prefixed meals and table reservation we thought we are coming to have a fun time but at close to midnight we were only there. And went next door to pizzeria. Anyways the service by Julia was great. We were given complimentary champagne at midnight thanks for that. But overall expectancy to what actully happened was weak and therefore cant rate a 5
A pleasant experience overall. If you like wine, this is a good place to find a variety. The menu claims they make their pasta fresh daily. It did have a unique taste which I liked, but not as soft as I hoped. A friend and I ordered and shares appetizers of fried meatballs and fried calamari. Both were good! Main course was ravioli gnocchi stuffed with mushroom which I enjoyed.
The bartender seemed inexperienced was maybe in training. The Caesar salad dressing was awful and tasted like the premade bags of Caesar salad at Trader Joe’s. Way too much Parmesan in the dressing and on the salad with no balance I make much better Cesar from scratch at home. White bean soup pretty flavorless and bland. These two did not build well for ordering anything else so I stopped…lifelong friend of Vespaio….so sad it is closing.
The ambience of this restaurant is beautiful and very inviting, and the service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and professional. The staff was also properly dressed and well presented, which added to the overall positive impression. However, the food unfortunately did not match the quality of the space or the service. In my opinion, there is room for improvement. The pasta did not taste fresh and lacked flavor, and the calamari was overly oily with a gummy texture rather than being light and crispy. One additional observation: while the staff looked very professional, the manager or owner was wearing sneakers that did not appear clean, which did not align with the otherwise polished and upscale presentation of the restaurant. Overall, it’s a very nice place with great potential, but improvements in food quality and consistency in professional presentation would greatly enhance the experience.
EDIT- In response to the manager's comments below-> We called earlier to change our reservation to 7:30, and were told it wouldn't be a problem-> but we were met with a snarky comment when we came in at 7:38 that our reservation was at 7:15. The manager/chef's rudeness was apparent from the start-> as you could tell by his response to my review. I have actually been to northern Italy 3 times and have traveled all around Italy and have never experienced a bad meal there- to call yourself an authentic "fine-dining" restaurant is embarrassing, to be honest. I've had craft mac n cheese better than the pasta I had here. If you were truly a fine dining restaurant, your food would have seasoning added to it and would actually reflect what is written on your menu. You charge $37 for "wild-caught salmon" with pasta, but what I was served was definitely farm-raised salmon, not wild-caught. Something like that would never happen at a fine dining establishment. And yes, you're right, I would enjoy a fast-food restaurant here in Austin more than the pasta I was served at your restaurant-> that's how bad it was. Perhaps your attitude is why the food tastes so bad-> they say food made with love is always better. The way you insult everyone who has written a negative review about your restaurant is truly embarrassing and a testament to your terrible attitude. BTW everyone-> my boyfriend wrote a negative review here as well and the manager somehow got it removed. That is probably why they have so many good reviews because the negative ones get removed. I’ve been in Austin for 4 years and am a HUGE foodie, and this was the worst meal I’ve ever had. Both service and food were terrible and I genuinely don’t understand how they have so many good reviews. It took us more than an hour to get our food from the time we were seated, and instead of apologies from the owner (or manager, not sure of his role) , we were told that this is what happens at “fine dining” restaurants (which LMAO this is far from what I would call fine dining) and that on the weekend it takes 30-40 minutes to get your food from the time it’s ordered. And apparently they don’t “put in” your order at the kitchen until you’ve finished your appetizer (which why would you do that if it takes 40 minutes for your food to be made from the time it’s put in to the kitchen?) The attitude from both the waitress and manager were abhorrent but didn’t even come close to how bad the food was. I had to add salt to my pasta and it still had no flavor…same with the salmon. Absolutely no seasoning or flavor. If that’s your vibe, you’ll enjoy it- but if you understand high quality food, stay away from this place.
