Found this on my travels through Austin and wasn't disappointed. Little hole in the wall bar that look smaller than it really is. Food was phenomenal and they had both indoor and outdoor areas to eat and hang out. Pick up some of their cool merchandise while you are there....lol Great little bar with a friendly staff. Cheese curds and the Black Sheep Burger were the choice of the day!!!

Went here for a Green Bay game and the crowd was pretty into the game. Our server Claire was excellent and she's pretty much the reason why I will give this place 5 stars. I tried three cocktails from here and I approve all of them. Especially the Mexican Martini got to try that.

This was our first stop in Austin, and what a way to start it was! Great drinks and even better food! Service was fast, and the outdoor seating was a plus. I'm still dreaming about their Hot Chicken Tenders!

This is an excellent place to come watch football, and it is one of the few places where they have the sound on with the games. Parking in the small lot can be a little bit hard, but there’s also street parking around. I wanted to try their Chicago dog, and while it was a decent enough hot dog, I’m not sure that I would say that it’s really a Chicago dog. I grew up in Chicago and worked to Chicago hot dog place for years so it was a little bit disappointing. The biggest problems with the Chicago dog in case you were thinking of getting it and expecting a true Chicago style, hot dog, were that the hot dog is not an all beef Vienna hotdog, or if it is, it’s overcooked and has a different texture. The hotdog itself came out a little bit room temperature, and the poppyseed bun was not steamed at all, which is one of the key elements to a Chicago style hot dog. One other thing is that they put the mustard on the top, which is not done because if you do, then it gets all over yourself while you’re eating it. The mustard should be on top of the hotdog, along with the relish, and then the tomatoes, pickle, peppers, and onions, should all be on top of the mustard. It’s a lot less messy to eat this way. The order that they assembled this is actually more like a Sonoran dog from the southwest.

The food is pretty good. I ate an hamburger which was amazing. The only negative point was a person smoking below the signal of “non smoking environment”. There was a wind and the smoke was traveling to the table where I was.

I tried this place out with my colleagues from the office for lunch. This place wasn't too shabby, definitely wasn't pack for lunch hour either. Everyone order burgers or dogs. While most of us added their stores tots as a side. Parking limited in the front but I believe there is parking in the back as well. I ordered the chili dog loaded with onions and cheese. Again, it wasn't too shabby. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Definitely a great place to bring a group for lunch. My friends stated their burgers may have been to well done as their patties were dry and not juicy they said. I would definitely say give this place a try and see how your experience turns out.

Pretty disappointed. I stopped by this place just today and I while o sat at the bar, it took 10 minutes before I decided to walk over to the well area and order a drink. After I got my drink I sat at a bar again, but then when I decided I wanted to order food I had to to the well area again to order. Which is fine if it was busy, but it wasn’t. I then got my food, which was pretty solid. Props to the chef. I then went to the bathroom and when I came back about 5 minutes later, all my food and drinks, which was a full cup of water and half a beer and about half my tater tots left were all gone. So I kinda feel like I was stolen from? I’m only in town for a week from Seattle, so I’ll be taking my business elsewhere than this spot. Weird vibes too

I’ve been coming to Black Sheep Lodge for years and live nearby, so this experience was really disappointing, especially because I’ve usually had great service and friendly staff here. Today, however, our service was noticeably poor. Our server barely spoke to us, seemed annoyed from the start, and was generally very indifferent. He was reading a book when we arrived, and it honestly felt like we were interrupting him. Communication was almost nonexistent and consisted mostly of nods without any verbal response. I politely asked if one of the TVs could be switched to a preseason Astros game. He nodded and walked off without saying anything. After about ten minutes with no update, I asked again when he came back to take our drink order. Again, just a nod and no explanation. When our food arrived and I asked a third time, he finally said someone was trying to find it. Several minutes later, he returned to tell us they did not have access to the game. That was fine, but the lack of communication up to that point was frustrating. Any questions about the menu were met with very flat, one word answers like “they’re both good,” with no effort to be helpful or personable. The restaurant was pretty empty, so it did not seem like he was overwhelmed or slammed. I’ve always enjoyed this spot, which is why this stood out so much. If I come back, I really hope I do not have the same server. Black Sheep Lodge has been a neighborhood favorite for me, and I hope this was just an off day.
