I have been eating here since the 80s. The food is consistently wonderful. The service is so welcoming and kind. I eat here at least every other week. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants.
I haven't been here in 15 years. This place was always packed. I went there today and couldn't believe how died it was at 12:30. The place is still great. Hot & Sour soup was great Chicken fried rice and the lemon grass chicken was also great.
I wish I took a photo before devouring it but that just means it was THAT GOOD. Ordered the Brisket Pho to go and was given a very generous amount of the Brisket and broth along with all the other toppings. The broth was full of umami and really soothed my sore throat which prompted me to order in the first place. Don't let the location fool you, its a must to try it out. I also had a great experience with the gentlemen that helped me check out. Definitely will be coming back :)
Hard to beat this caliber of food for the price and speed. Been going here as long as I can remember fantastic quick food for the price. This is definitely an Austin classic! This is not your latest bougie trendy spot this is a real food without the fluff.
I love this place. There pho is amazing and so much flavor. The customer service is beyond my expectations. Friendly atmosphere and this is a place to come and unwind after a busy day of work. They also have Thai tea and boba. You have to try this hidden 💎 gem. Truly a great place to enjoy some good Chinese/vietnamese cuisine! 🫶🫶🫶
Been coming to Kim Phung Y E A R S!!! One of our go to places for when we want Vietnamese food as a family of 6. Such quality food for a good price. We have gone here for birthdays, anniversaries, and family get togethers. We always leave wanting to come back again. Also cheap Pho on Wednesday’s! #pho #vermicelli #yum
Henry has great hospitality and will always make you feel welcome as well as very knowledgeable with all the dishes. Had the sesame, chicken and rice w an egg roll last time and it was so good I just had to come back. Today my husband and I stopped in and had the Basil Eggplant with a Chicken combo and the Eggrolls and grilled pork bowl! THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE AND THE FLAVOR OS AMAZING! Making this a weekly spot they are so good.you can taste the love the cook puts in all meals made.
Ok, so here’s the deal. I’m not sure of what the bad reviews are about (maybe their timing right after covid?) ….anyway, for us it was a 1st time awesome experience. No, it’s not in a cute part of town, it’s not a looker of a location, and it’s not a place spot to celebrate a fancy anniversary or bday. However, if what you are into is real Vietnamese food, THIS IS THE SPOT in central Austin. The Pho is a must. We also got the Banh Mi and have to also say that outside of Vietnam, is one of the top 3 we’ve had in the USA. Seems like they stay busy as a take out/delivery place. We chose to dine in since it was completely empty and had our pick of booth (again, nothing fancy, posh or pretentious, just good authentic food) 👌🏽
I go here for lunch a few times a year. It’s always good. The Pho broth and bases are good, but I will say that today I had the chicken Pho and the chicken was dry. They would be better off making it with chicken thigh rather than breast, but then I guess it wouldn’t be as healthy?
Stopped in for quick lunch today. Ordered a beef meatball pho. I thought the price was very reasonable compared with others. So this restaurant is set up as order in the front, pay and tip first, then grab a number on a stand and find a table to sit down. So I got a number and sat down.. a few minutes later, a lady that didn't speak English started asking me something... I'm guessing she is asking what I ordered.. so I told her what I ordered and she came back with the order. Kind of weird, since they did not give out paper receipt either... Anyway, the Beef Meatball Pho was delicious, broth was clear and had pretty good flavor. The cleaniness of the entire restaurant is ehh... floor was oily/slippery and everything else looks like it can use a deep clean session. But overall I'm glad I stopped in for lunch today!
$6 pho on Wednesday’s, well worth it. This place could use some deep cleaning, but service was great, even with basically one lady running the whole show. She was very attentive and polite, but struggled to maintain bussing tables which was understandable based on the amount of people coming in and out. She had to run the register and help in the back as well. Too much for one person, so all the negatives about this place could be fixed with more staff. Food was good, came out pretty fast.
Tried the beef lomein and the thai beef flat noodle, was pretty mid. The noodles were just tossed together with the least flavor possible.
I don’t know what happened to this place, they used to be so good. Now if you order online, you have a 50/50 chance of getting the wrong order, they will lie to your face that condiments etc are in the bag, and “accidentally” select the max tip amount at the register before you sign for a credit card.
I asked the cashier if I could order a combo that had fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and shrimp and she said yes, and I asked her if that was a lot of food for one person and she said no, that it was enough for one person, I proceeded to pay and I see that it was $27 and it seemed expensive to me and I also left a tip and when I realize that they are bringing me the order they bring me two plates of food, both with rice and their side. I think it is disrespectful that you bring me two plates of food when I asked you for a combo that had everything, I feel that you took advantage of the situation to sell more because two plates of food for one person with the same side is that you do not know how to sell or you are taking advantage. Unpleasant experience, I do not recommend it I will never return to this restaurant.
My boyfriend got food poisoning from the vermicelli) we think it was the eggrolls specifically). I got the lemongrass eggplant chicken and it was terrible. Chicken was soggy?! Had no flavor, was really bad. Also got the cheese rangoons which was the only thing I liked. Service was pretty rude. I walked in and looked at the menu, immediately they were pressuring me to order, which they did multiple times before I was ready. Ended up ordering something terrible.
Avoid this place, they have gone downhill since they opened other locations. first off the portion is so small. I've always bought the fried rice (combo/ chicken) for years. They first switched to a smaller plate yet increased the price by like 3 dollars the plate now $12 (chicken fried rice). The portion seems to get smaller each time I order. I have placed ordered online with Ubereats and they have giving me the wrong order multiple times. Not to mention the restrooms are disgusting!
Don’t stop here and waist your money. It’s not like it used to be, New owners and they aren’t nice. Came to eat here with my family only to be let down and disappointed with the quality of food. My wife order the hot and sour soup and when she’s half way down she finds about a 4” long piece of plastic the size of a noodle. Prior to finding the plastic, my wife went to pour soy sauce and realized it was so dirty you couldn’t even grab it much less pour it out of the container. Also, we order what was suppose to be plain lomain for my son and they still charged us for chicken lomain $7. Now here’s the kicker to all this- I talked to the manager about the situation and they basically told me that if you eat or even try a bite of the food and you don’t like it and your not satisfied your SOL. We aren’t talking about like the flavor of the food but more less about foreign objects in the food. They told me that i could go ahead and leave my google review and that they don’t care. Well I’m here to help and prove a point about this. Trust me don’t stop here and waist your money. It’s not like it used to be years ago what used to be here favorite restaurant we will never go again. #BADSERVICE #POORATTITUDE
