The Punjabi Dhaba sign has been a landmark to me for years on drives between Wichita Falls and Dallas. Finally decided to stop in today and WAS NOT disappointed. Solid Chicken Korma, and the garlic naan was gas. Bit pricier than expected… but worth the stop.
Food is fresh and tastes excellent. This is the best Dhabba I've been to in the US. It is a long drive, but worth it. This place is busy even on a week day, lot of people visiting from Dallas area. Be prepared to wait at least an hour for your food to be prepared and served. If you plan to take food home, order it with the dine in order.
The food is excellent and prepared with incredible quality. Our food came quick and all at one time. The servers were flexible and allowed us to add on to the order even after paying. This place deserves a rating much higher than 3.8
Best authentic road side dhaba. The food was awesome! Its like a truck stop and like exact Indian dhaba. We ordered dal fry, chicken kebabs, nawabi mutton and chai Everything was super tasty. Almost like home made food. Served with green chutney onions and green chili. The Server was really sweet and helpful. Tandoori roti with butter was perfect. Price is right. A must try place! Its between a restaurant and a dhaba style with munji. We loved it And chai was to die for. Huge cup of Chai! It reminded me of banquet halls on the way to Punjab n Haryana.
July 2025 Now, let’s set expectations straight: don’t come here looking for Italian restaurant vibes, fancy cutlery, or some Michelin-level hand sanitizer rituals. This isn’t a place where the napkins are folded like swans. This is where real food lives. And if you’re up for authentic taste over ambience, go ahead—you’re in the right place. If you know what to expect from a classic Indian-style dhaba—steel/paper plates, unusual Khatiya Seating, informal atmosphere and bold spices, and flavors that hit harder than your cousin during a family pillow fight—you’re in for a real treat. And if you don’t? Well, prepare to have your taste buds kidnapped and happily held hostage. This place was shockingly clean for a dhaba-style spot, and Amit was our culinary guardian angel from start to finish, serving everything with a smile that said, “You’re about to eat something amazing.” Let’s talk food. We ordered the Malai Kofta and Chana Masala, paired with Makke Ki Roti, Garlic Naan, and Tandoori Roti. Oh. My. Garam Masala. The Garlic Naan deserves its own fan club. Soft, buttery, garlicky perfection—it almost brought a tear to my eye. And the curries? Mind-blowingly flavorful. Like, “let me cancel my next meal so I can keep thinking about this one” good. Honestly, finding this place felt like discovering a hidden gem—like Indiana Jones, but instead of a temple, it’s a temple of taste. Don’t expect a fine dine
Punjabi Dhaba never fails to impress with its authentic flavors! This time, the fish pakora had a slightly different recipe, but it was still delicious—crispy on the outside and tender inside. The star of the meal was the Maharani Daal—creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced, paired wonderfully with hot, buttery tandoori roti. The ambiance is simple yet vibrant, capturing the true essence of a Punjabi dhaba. Service was prompt, and the food was served fresh. Though the fish pakora was different from previous visits, the taste remained satisfying. Overall, a must-visit for anyone craving hearty, flavorful Punjabi cuisine. Highly recommended for the Maharani Daal alone—it’s simply awesome! Will definitely return for more.
Honestly, It was the BEST HEALTHY and TASTY food in Decatur, and it's worth it every penny. We're thankful for the friendly people we met today, kind and humble, they paid attention to us all the time in case we need something. Treat us with respect, and one of them shared with us some info about their traditions. I found it interesting. Im also learning about other cultures. We had a nice time! And we will definitely come back. Happy to help the small and local businesses to grow!
Love the food and taste of the items here - the service is good but the price is on the higher side. There are outside sitting area and have restroom inside. The aloo paratha, mango lassi, chhole bhature, naan and other Punjabi dishes tastes good. The biryani is not that tasty. There are ample parking outside and very nice drive from Dallas.
Went for Lunch on Sunday to experience the Dhabba food. Ordered Tandoori Chicken, Egg Bhurji, Desi Chicken Curry, 1 butter naan & 1 garlic naan. Naan’s were soft and good. Egg Bhurji was excellent. Tandoori Chicken & Desi Chicken was average. Felt Homestyle cooking and no msg in food.
We arrived around 3.30pm (passing by from a road trip with family). Dhabba was empty and clean. They served food in few minutes. Food was very tasty and different than normal local indian restaurants. We took Desi chicken curry boneless and chicken tikka masala with naan and rice. But there were too many flies and we had to keep fleeing the flies that came on our food every 5 seconds (made me wonder if kitchen has flies flying everywhere). So honestly we couldn't enjoy the food because of this issue. We understand this is a Dhabba but expect the owners do something about the flies inside the restaurant as basic standards of a US restaurant. Other that, food was really good.
TLDR definitely worth a stop if you’re driving by. Food was good and generous portions. Service and space were just okay. Bathrooms could be cleaner. Stopped here on a whim looking for a place to eat and trying to avoid fast food. As others have noted, it’s a big open space. Decor was very minimal and it seemed like some parts were in the middle of some amount of renovation. Bathrooms could’ve used a little help but nothing crazy. We had chicken dum biryani, paneer masala, garlic naan and a mango lassi. Prices are a little high but not crazy for 2025. Portions were very large, in particular the biryani which was exceedingly generous. The paneer and naan were above average, the lassi was phenomenal, and the biryani was good but less exceptional. The food came in takeout containers which might be a turn off but it was fine since we had to take half of it home anyway. Service was a little slow but it was an off hour when we were there. Overall the food was very good and worth a stop if you’re driving by. Tons of veg options as well. The atmosphere and service are very basic but it didn’t bother me. I’m glad we stopped and supported something local and interesting.
A good Punjabi Dhabha at a drivable distance from Plano/Frisco area. Food and service are good as one may expect. Makki Roti is very good, but the Sarson ka Saag lacked a bit of salt making it felt way bland. The curries, mixveg Kola Puri and Egg Curry, are well made and taste very good 👍. The bullet naan has a real bite and spicy 🔥🥵. The garlic naan was well made too. Enjoyed their Chai twice over. The place is pricey but definitely has a taste of a traditional Dhabha. Worth our trip and effort for the day.
Typical Punjabi dhaba vibe, it’s very spacious. I saw some families were flying kites and kids playing around. The seating accommodates big and small groups. It’s like an open big hall. Food was good for the location and proximity for fresh food. The rotis were made fresh and the kebabs were fresh. The only issue was the space is dusty and restrooms were dirty. I wish they cleaned it more it will add value.
There rarely comes a restaurant that loses its value in terms of service. Punjabi Dhaba is an interesting restaurant which will indulge you with its tasty food but leave a bitter sweet memory for its lack of service and absurd prices. Let’s start with the good bits; the food was amazing, not all of it, but enough for me to commend the restaurant for doing a fantastic job with the flavors and texture. We were a party of 5 and ordered a ton of food - Lamb Korma, Murg do Pyaza, paneer tikka, Makki ki roti Saag, Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Masala and Tandoori roti. The highlights were lamb korma and Makki ki roti Saag. The flavor was authentic and simply scrumptious. I’d stay away from Gobi Manchurian though, it was hard and felt stale and we didn’t touch it after the first few bites. A note, no rice is served with curries, so you’re left with ordering rice separate. Let’s turn our attention to the bad bits; even though you dine in, the food is served in to-go plastic containers; the restaurant is strictly self serve, you order at the front and they call your name when the food is ready. Now, you would think, the prices would be reasonable for such an establishment, right? Wrong! The prices are inflated and absurdly high; we paid around $21 for Makki ki roti Saag!!! and everything else also in the menu is incredibly overpriced. The quantity also isn’t justifiable with those prices. I get that there are no restaurants close by to this area but charging so much money for a casual Indian self-serve restaurant, not a fine dine, is, according to me, duping the customers. Also, did I tell you they charge $2 for a tiny bottle of water? Let that sink in. They have a banner inside that says no outside water/ cold drinks and then they go ahead and engage in extracting every nickel and dime which is just unethical. Oh and they do charge a 4% fee when paying with credit cards, so when paying cash, do ask them for a discount because when we tried to pay with cash the second time, they still, however, did charge us 4% fee and I had to inquire about the policy there with the owner to which he said the people working there didn’t have enough training. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings and the traditional Indian cloth bench seats. There are a lot of trucks and cars parked in the area which suggests the restaurant garners interest from everyone. I’d still give this restaurant a modest B+ for the food but a C for the antics and the the sky high prices. I’d argue this restaurant has the potential to be the best if they make some consumer friendly changes.
I've eaten here many times. I usually get it to go though. Food is very good gland very authentic. I actually stopped here on my way back home from a trip to India and was surprised how authentic it is. My only gripe is the bathrooms. They are not the greatest. I would recommend stopping someplace else to use a restroom. Otherwise, if you want to sample some Indian cuisine, be sure to check this place out.
Beware. This restaurant is super expensive. Ordered chicken curry, garlic naan and sweet lassi and I paid 28 dollars. Food taste is average. Water bottle is for 2 dollars. They charge you some service fees but restaurants is self service. You have to pay 4 percent extra fee for paying with card.
We really wanted to try this restaurant so we stopped, walked in, and patiently waited. The smells were heavenly but we were never acknowledged or greeted for the 5 plus minutes we stood in an empty restaurant. Needless to say we won’t be stopping by again. If I could give them a zero star I would.
Don't trust this place They serve old food, they warmed up old samosa in microwave , and even Chana was dirty. There was no single table occupied, still pur food came 1 hour later, and like that. That too was just samosa chat. Could not even handle that. All their chutney literally smell so bad. Never ever visit. God knows what they do with non veg food. No hygene. Once you see the server, that's it, they will not even come back. And you get charged no matter what.
The most non hygienic place I ever visited. The restrooms were all yellow and the place dint have ac and the table where we were sitting was never cleaned before. Coming to food the chicken kababs were okay but then the chicken curry was all runny and it was made only of tomatoes and onions and we felt it was stale too. And they charge extra for the card payment and they dint mention it to us. Totally unsatisfied with the service. Wastage of driving for an hour to get such a service quality
