Visited late on a Sunday night, and truly enjoyed the place. It was late and the atmosphere may have been a little stale but they took good care of us and the food was delicious. From looking at the menu it's clear this is a place looking to attract college students with good deals, and even around 930pm in a Sunday we were not there alone. It's hard for me to think that this place does not have what it take to draw a crowd, so maybe I'll check it out again at a different time.

Absolutely love Salsa Limon! Food is always fresh, great environment, and friendly service. My favorite Ft Worth taco spot and one of my favorite now Austin tacos spots!

Ate here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised! Delicious food with plenty of flavor. I had a burrito and the wife had a couple tacos. The salsa with the chips is top notch. Only negative I could say is all the tables were kind of sticky. But the food was good enough I didn’t even knock a star. Ha!

Great tacos! Margaritas are very fresh. I recommend barbaro taco - the meat is so tender

The first time I ever tried Salsa Limon was in Dallas, Texas. When I relocated to Austin, I was happy and shocked to see they had another location. I strongly recommend the Chicken El Captain. Add lime and Salsa to it as well. They are delicious, and I was so happy to discover they tasted identical from the Dallas location as they do in the Austin location. I will definitely keep coming back. I love the dine in vibe, it is shared seating as well.

Just ate here for the first time. Terrific tacos and super affordable. I needed some extra protein so asked for a big scoop of barbacoa and a slice of avacado. They charged me $2.50 which was kindly low. Great place.

EDIT 8/21/2023: They have WILDLY improved on customer service after the reviews about it. Truly a delight to be welcomed into one of my favorite places in Austin with a smile. A well deserved five stars. LOVE IT HERE!!!! Great food, the tacos are addicting!!! My partner and i frequent this place about teice a month. The El capitan tacos are so amazing and i honestly lose all sense of mannera when chowing down. A lot of the time there isn't someone at the checkout counter, but they have a self ordering device in the corner, only catch, the price is different on the self service. The cashier I tried to let know that the prices were different was blantly rude and didn't believe me but wouldn't come look. Not the end of the world, but I don't come here for the service, I come for the tacos.

First time visiting Salsa Limon and I LOVED IT‼️👌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I will definitely come back when I’m in Austin. Mexican food with a unique, flavorful twist! I’m very critical of Mexican food… cause I’m MEXICAN‼️🤣 First thing I loved when going in there was the CLEAN SMELL and good Latin music!! ♥️

I’m visiting my daughter who’s attending UT. We’re from McAllen, TX, a border town. We know authentic and this place is spot on … the music, the vibe … pretty much everything. I especially like hearing the kitchen staff actually speaking Spanish to each other. Breakfast tacos are tops… the chorizo and egg is the best I’ve tasted in all of Austin. Great job keepin it real. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I don't understand why this place is only at 4.2 stars - they definitely deserve all 5!! The atmosphere is wonderful - bright, cheerful, and clean, and they have Latin music playing the whole time, stuff you've probably never heard otherwise 😊They're very patient with one's lacking in Spanish (lol)...I ordered this gorgeous breakfast burrito (at 1:30pm!) and it was wrapped as tightly as a baby in a sling, and the fillings had a taste i could only dare dream of. I will be back, and I'll be bringing friends 🤗

What a dangerous Taco spot. Dangerous because they have a fantastic happy hour from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Fridays. Buying an alcoholic beverage gets me free chips and salsa and their drinks are very tasty. So far I've only tried the Red sangria, and it was perfect to my liking. Not overly sweet. The tacos are about the same cost as most taco places in Austin ranging from 4:00 to $6, they're good portions for each taco.

Love everything about this place. Walking in I could see the place was decorated nicely with a Mexican theme. The service was great. The food was amazing and authentic. Prices were reasonable. They had nice Spanish music playing in the background. I ordered in English but noticed everyone working was speaking Spanish and heard other customers ordering in Spanish. This place is the real deal!

Israel U.

Music is always bumping, William running the floor, taking orders, and slinging quesadillas/nachos/and what not. They give out free chips and salsa during happy hour and their ranch waters are $4.50! The quesadillas come with whatever meat you want(I got Pastor) and comes with beans and rice, phenomenal. The molca bowl is also great and comes with a side of chips to use a dip! It’s all quick and authentic mexican food, which is nice in a place that’s mostly tex mex:) I quite literally love this place!!!

Estefania took great care of us with our drinks and ordering food! Place is very clean and the staff are very friendly! Great background music and we loved the cheesy quesadillas, the pastor would be our favorite because it had a lot of meat. Great place to stop by while we were out thrifting!

Estephania took care of us today, we got a strawberry margarita, two bottles Dos Equis, three quesadillas. Great place to stop by while we were thrift shopping!

I pass this place all the time and assumed it was mediocre. Went on a whim with friends today and wow this is some of the best Tex mex in the city, no exaggeration. Great margaritas and great tacos, you can tell the meat is cooked fresh and with actual love/flavor. It’s rare to find a place that you want to keep eating at even after you’re full. The best Barbacoa I’ve ever had

Best taco place in Guadalupe and possibly all of Austin. The favorito is a favorite. The Capitanes are to die for. Breakfast burrito with asada is a must try. The hot sauces the habanero (orange) and jalapeño (greenish) are my favorite. Try aguas frescas, the lemon one is 🤤 I come here at least 2 days a week. You should come and try it. Finally, the staff are always welcoming with a smile on their face. I love coming here for lunch and dinner.

Workers are nice, food is great and consistent. Usually order on DoorDash, but the inside is really nice and clean. I would say it’s instagrammable - idk if people care about that. I’m not a big Instagram person .

My new favorite happy hour in Austin. The place is small but the few times I’ve been it hasn’t been packed. The parking lot is small and can get filled up fast but there is some street partaking available. Both the frozen and on the rocks margaritas are good!

Stephanie Pringnitz
Stephanie Pringnitz

Can’t wait to go back!! The tables are all picnic tables both indoor and outdoor seating is available. They have handheld menus as well as billboard style. Lots of options for both omnivores and vegetarians alike. I had the torta with mushrooms , added Avacado and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The bread was really good and so was the filing however I wish there would have been more mushrooms, I loved the salsa options the habanero and tomatillo were my favorite two! Everyone at my table enjoyed thier meals and the drinks. Others had the vegatarian tacos , asada quesadillas, a chicken taco, a asada taco which they really liked, and a asada torta. We had the frozen margarita which was quite chunky (the ice) , however the one on the rocks was good and a decent amount of liquor in them. The Paloma spritz was quite tasty too. This is counter service restaurant where you order get a number and they bring it out to your table …. if something is needed after food is dropped you have to get up and get it. However, The staff was nice each interaction we had and the food came out pretty quickly.

New in the neighborhood and just got take out for the first time today. I’m taking a star off because while there was good flavor, the rice needs to be cooked a little more. I got a pastor and a chicken taco. The slaw is delicious but there was hardly any meat on the tacos. I’d love to give it another try if the owner were to address these concerns. 😄

K
Kayo Kawamoto

It was our first time to try this place. The food was pretty good. I tried Tortilla soup and first I was nervous that it could be very thick and rich with refried beans and crema inside but it was not bad. The avocado inside was good and greens made it better. I'd prefer without so much beans inside still but I liked the combination. Tacos were very small portion for how much they were. I wasn't a big fan of their chips but queso was good. Overall it's cute little place to eat at. Fun colors and decorations. Tables could be cleaner.

C

I'm on the lookout for great Mexican food in ATX so when I came upon this place with some friends we had to try it out. I turned to the chilaquiles with beef barbacoa. The barbacoa was delicious- soft and melty. I would have enjoyed the chilaquiles more if they were spicy. Spice level was a 1. However, it was a delicious dish, the bomba egg runny and on point, so I do recommend it. I will have to come back and try other dishes.

I want to start by saying that I am an extremely hard person to please. I’m not even sure that it’s possible. I’m the kind of person that will seek out a reason to give you a bad review. I’m also the kind of person to make sure that I give credit where it’s due. With that being said, I have been here a couple of times and every time I have had great service, great food and that’s all I can really ask for. I ordered on Sunday July 20 at around 7 PM and I wasn’t able to place an order online. I called and the system was down for some reason. The employee was extremely sweet and appreciative that I let them know about the issue and they fixed it immediately. I was able to place my order not even a minute after the call. I picked it up 15 minutes later and they had it hot and ready for me. I wasn’t able to go inside because I did have my pistol on me concealed and I did not want to go through the hassle of showing it to everybody just to be able to walk in. Employee saw that I was in my wheelchair and she noticed I may need some assistance, which I didn’t. I was just reading the signage on the door (30.06) but she was very attentive and very helpful anyways. So with that she kindly walked it out to me. I rode back home in my wheelchair five blocks and my food was still hot. The Barbacoa tacos were amazing. I was expecting low quality or ground beef passed off as barbacoa. No, it was legit and so delicious. I also come from San Antonio, the city with the best tacos in Texas. I rarely find a place that’s impressive in prices, service and food and Salsa Limon hits the mark on all three. This should be enough to let you know that the tacos here are legit. I never give five stars to anyone unless I am absolutely overwhelmingly impressed and I don’t think I’ve ever given one so don’t take that as a ding on this report. Those are reserved for extremely special occasions in my book.

New to Austin, coming from Fort Worth. Great spot on North Campus for quick tacos, great margaritas, plus a covered patio! tacos. brunch. palomas. margaritas. breakfast all day. * chips & dips trio [11] * breakfast taco w/chorizo [4] * chilaquiles [9] * taco [4.25] * el capitan taco [4.75] * agua de rancho [7] * frozen margarita [8] * agua fresca [41 - horchata austin exclusives * lupita (vegan) [4] * paloma fizz [9] Overall, I would come back. Everyone was very nice, the food was goof but wasn't blown away by the carne asada I got in a couple of tacos. Chilaquiles was incredible, get the chicken with it!

Just popped in for a quick Asada taco. Which was tasty! The meat was cooked perfectly and was still juicy. A little too much cabbage and the cilantro wasn’t the freshest and felt a little pricy for the size. I would just add more meat and take off a little cabbage. The design of the space is cute and colorful, so if you’re looking for a fun spot for tacos it’s your place. Lots of big table seating so perfect for big groups.

I wanted to share with you a great dining experience I had at Salsa Limon restaurant. The beef steak quesadilla I had, along with beans and rice, was incredibly delicious. My husband also enjoyed his burrito a lot. The staff was amazing, and the ambiance with the music was vibrant. The parking was convenient, and the restrooms were clean. The only downside was that they couldn't make the torta I wanted due to a vendor issue, hence the 4-star rating. I highly recommend trying out Salsa Limon for some tasty Mexican food!

Left visiting hospital downtown and were looking for something close and open late and came across Salsa Limon. Good food, tastes fresh, and served hot. Lots of choices for protein in a bowl, a taco, or burrito. Service was top notch. Will definitely stop in again! Hope they get larger cups though ;)

M
Madeline Brooke

Very average, salsas are good (as suggested in the name)! Been here twice and tried a couple of things, burrito was better than the tacos, but they lost a star because the queso was just plain bad, watery and flavorless

M
Marisa P

The Chorizo burrito was good. I was disappointed in the potato’s being mushy and was more like mash potatoes in a burrito. My coffee had coffee grounds in it, not just a few but quite a bit. I’d rather go to a Mexican restaurant and get burritos there for how much I spent on the burrito.

S
Sydney Wisner

The food here is really good and well priced for what you get. However, there are some seriously scummy parking attendants in the area. I parked in the lot to grab my take out order, literally took two minutes, and came back out to a boot on my car and a man in a vest demanding $100 to take it off. Go here at your own risk or just get delivery. Big yikes!

K
Kate

Opening day! The service was very friendly and the food came our quick. Seating was spacious and the place was clean. Parking available on the side. As for the food, it was tasty but portions were small for the price. The salad good but there was not enough meat (asada). The salsas were fresh but each had an interesting flavor that I would not go back for. The music was loud, but the vibe was fine. Maybe I’ll be back for a burrito or quesadilla.

Kate
Kate

Went here with friends and got a potato taco and horchata, both of which were excellent. My friends enjoyed their burritos. Only taking off stars because a dog was inside the eating establishment and nothing was being done about it. Not sure what Texas rules are like but that's so gross and unsanitary

A Flavor Explosion… with a Side of “Yikes” Salsa Limón in Austin absolutely delivers on taste no doubt about it. The pastor and barbacoa were out-of-this-world good, perfectly seasoned, tender, and bursting with flavor. And the margaritas? A straight up 10/10. If happiness had a taste, it would be whatever magic they put in those drinks. I’d come back for the food alone no hesitation. But here’s where things took a turn. As I was walking around, taking in the vibe and snapping a few photos, I couldn’t help but notice one of the employees deeply engaged with his phone… while wearing gloves. Now, I’m all for a little multitasking, but watching him scroll, tap, touch random surfaces, and then go right back to handling food without changing gloves was a little unsettling. It was like watching a suspense movie where you know something bad is about to happen you just don’t know when. Look, I get it. We all sneak a glance at our phones at work. But when gloves are involved, they’re not just an accessory they’re supposed to be a barrier between my delicious taco and whatever bacteria is living on that screen. Unfortunately, this wasn’t just a quick slip up it was a full on glove wearing, phone loving, food prepping trifecta that made me question what else goes on behind the scenes. Would I come back? Absolutely. The food is just that good. But let’s just say next time, I’ll be hoping the staff keeps the texting and taco making in separate lanes.

Jamie Moseley

Tacos were tasty - we had the chicken and pastor. Frozen margaritas were very disappointing, though. Both the strawberry and standard were mostly ice and had very little flavor of either lime or tequila (or strawberry). For $9.50 a marg, I’m very unimpressed, but the tacos were good.

Straight up disappointing. Michaelada tasted like death. Tacos were good but for 8 bucks and how small these portion sizes were I should be getting caviar. I could eat 15 orders of those tacos and still be hungry. Capitalism at its finest. The beans and rice were beans and rice. The chips were extremely salty. Chef must’ve had a personal vendetta against me.

We got served so many beans and they just kept forcing more beans onto us. It was straight up frijole and not much of much else. Also the fountain drinks being $4 is ridiculous cus that’s just syrup and water! All of our burritos were 70% beans.

I ordered an asada burrito, the meet was good but the rice that was inside was old and hard. Just a heads up.

If you enjoy school lunch quality food and serving sizes for 5 times the price of a school lunch, then the place is for you.

I parked and went inside to go to the bathroom before I ordered because I was going to piss my pants and needed to change my tampon because I just started my period and bled through my white pants. After I finished I went to my car because I forgot my wallet inside and I was ready to order only to find my car booted and a short man demanding I pay him $200 when I was GOING TO ORDER

DISAPPOINTED!!! My family and I have been going to this Salsa and Limón establishment for the past year and have loved every moment of it UNTIL their new “bar manager” came into the establishment. If there are any confusions, she has unnaturally colored hair and a nose bridge pericing. She denied my family for a pitcher and claimed that we had to purchase a singular drink, after the rest of the restaurant had their own pitcher. She claimed that we could “afford the difference” when my family’s financial matters are non of her concern or business. Will not be attending the establishment again until she is fired.

Sucks watch your vehicle, these people are scammers. the clamp your car and force you to pay $100.00. This will cost you more than the food. We were visiting for parents weekend.

I have never felt more unworthy of service than I did here. My food took over 51 minutes for one Barbacoa taco and beans. When I went up to the bar, the lady with blue short hair was so rude. When she finally brought out the food, she threw the beans at me and they almost burnt my hand. Then when she came back to give us margaritas, she was screaming our names at us. This is my first and last time here. Thank you and goodnight.

I went here on Labor Day for happy hour with my partner. We ordered the frozen margarita and one on the rocks, as well as guacamole. Truthfully, the margaritas were really poorly done. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but the margarita on the rocks was extremely watered down and the frozen was mostly ice. The guacamole was pretty good, but very small. They did not serve us the chips and salsa that comes with happy hour drinks.

Stopped here for lunch, saw a friend at the market across the street, crossed and said hi, came back to my car with a towing boot on it and a man in a vest demanding 100$. I talked to the restaurant workers and the parking company and told them I bought lunch at the restaurant, but nobody helped me EVEN THOUGH I WAS A PAYING CUSTOMER. I am never coming back to this horrible establishment that extorts its customers into forking over 100$ for a parking spot when I am literally here to eat your food. And the food was mediocre, there was barely any meat in my burrito. Don’t waste your time or your money here. Save your 100$ and spend it at Uchi instead.

The food is very low quality. Don’t go here if you’re looking for authentic mexican food, this place is just “cosplaying” being mexican. service was okay but took them so long to take my order. they have super loud music for no reason its really annoying.

One of the workers was very rude and unwelcoming, I tried to get a to go salsa container and he walked over and took it out of my hand. Very unprofessional. Other than that, vibes were good and karaoke was fun. Food was alright.

The menu has only one vegan option, and it's mislabeled, so the vegan sign is next to the taco with bacon and cheese. I asked an employee if the refried beans were vegetarian, and she said "they're vegetarian but not vegan, since they don't have pork but I think they have beef or chicken." Definitely avoid if you have dietary restrictions.
