This place changed my life. And I don’t mean that hyperbolically. It truly is the best taco and quesadilla that I have ever and will ever consume. I think about still, even months after my vacation to Austin. We went 4 times in a 3 day span. Even writing this, I am getting emotional, saddened by the fact that I cannot eat them every day. 10/10 is an understatement.
Fun, secluded little taco restaurant down an alley near the convention center. The pollo and nopales tacos were both excellent with everything on them. A great blend of flavors and just enough spice. As you order and file past the kitchen you can see the tortillas plumbing on the grill and smell all the flavors of their menu. There are a few tables and several counter seats. Closer to the door there is a bar making drinks with tequila. The typically paid street parking is free on Sundays. I'd read Taqueria De Diez, Whip My Soul, and Bird Bird Biscuit all made Yelp’s 2026 Top 100 US Restaurants list, ranking No. 47, No. 62, and No. 66, respectively. It didn't disappoint!
The food is excellent. I had the adobada pork taco and a chicken volcan. The flavors were worth the wait. I had a line of about 15 people in front of me. However it went fast. Tip - once you order and get a ticket, you have to hand it to a chef in order to get the food prepared.
Only taco spot in town where I actually really love the carne asada tacos because these are cooked on charcoal and really taste like the ones my family makes at our carne asadas. Al Pastor is also amazing with the pineapple and salsa. De acuerdo, son 10/10
The taco al pastor were possibly the best ive ever had and I have had many. Cooked on a proper trompo giving the meat that special char it should have. The doneness and seasoning was spot on. YOU NEED TO GO HERE.
The best tacos I’ve had in my life. Insanely flavorful, the chicken was juicy, the pastor has such a great flavor, and the chips and salsa were delicious. The salsa is really spicy, but the jalapeno crema was perfectly spiced for someone who can’t handle spicy well. The flour tortillas tasted fresh and high quality, and I love that the ordering process is quick. There’s a bar connected with incredible margaritas. Both the peach and strawberry one were incredible. It can be busy so seating is limited. So worth the line.
Hands down, the closest Mexican take-out most matching that of So. Cal Baja Mexican food I have had on this 7000 mile journey. A pass-through (walk-through) hole in the wall is most characteristic of a place I used to frequent in San Diego. Special paper fold under each taco plate was another characteristic I had seen from a catering in the same San Diego area. Very good presentation of my tacos . . . had to take a picture. The walkthrough feature allows you to momentarily interact with the chefs and staff. They also play the game well. A must do in the alleys of Austin. CritDicks
Amazing delicious fresh tacos full of flavour. This is what I ordered: Carne Asada Taco $5.49 Adobada (Pastor) Taco $4.49 Campechano Taco (Asada & Pastor) $5.99 Pollo Taco (Chicken) $4.49 Diet Coke $3.99 Total with tax = $28.87 The Carne Asada & Pastor were my favourite. Put them together in one taco… OMG. The Pollo was my least favourite. Fresh made to order. The char on the meat and the fresh ingredients on top are such an amazing combo. My friend also got the Nopal taco (grilled cactus) and was happily surprised how good it was. You must try these tacos! Will definitely be back.
Taqueria De Diez (D/10) is such a hidden gem in downtown Austin. The entrance through the alley makes it feel like a secret spot, but the tacos are absolutely worth finding. The al pastor and carne asada were super flavorful, and the fresh-made tortillas made a huge difference. Portions are classic street-taco style, so I loved being able to try a few different ones. Fast service, great seasoning, and really authentic vibes. Easily one of my favorite taco stops in Austin. 🌮🔥
This is the taco shop you write home to mom about. Don’t ask any questions just order the Al Pastor Quesadilla. While the location is unassuming (tucked into an alley) the food is actually unbelievable. I went here last night and returned within 24 hours. The staff are as friendly as it gets. 100% recommend.
Hands down the best street-style tacos we’ve had in Austin—very close to Mexico City style! We tried the carne asada, al pastor, and a quesadilla, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Ordering is easy: you order at the counter, then step to the right to customize with salsa, onions, and more. Adult beverages are separate at the bar, so grab them beforehand or get a soda in the taco area. Seating is limited, so it’s best for groups of 4 or less. Highly recommend!
Officially my favorite taco spot in Austin as of tonight. I come to Austin often for work and am always looking forward to some tacos. One of my coworkers suggested I try Taqueria De Diez so I made it a point to go by. First of all, the fact that it's like a taco speakeasy is awesome. For those who like to grab a little alcoholic beverage (I prefer to eat my calories), there's a bar right when you walk in. But then you walk through another door to the actual taqueria... appropriately labeled "TACOS SERVED HERE." I ended up getting the carne asada volcan (like an open face taco with cheese melted on the tortilla), a chicken quesadilla, and an el pastor taco. All delicious. Oh, and I also got chips and guac and the ranchero beans. So good!!! The girl who was working the register was super friendly and helpful when I was asking about specific menu items, and everyone else who was working there was just in great spirits and beyond pleasant despite being hard at work. The girl I was with was asking me to take videos and pics for her bc she had forgotten her phone and they actually were trying to pose for the camera as you can catch in the video I'm posting lol. Whoever is in charge of this place, you're doing an amazing job with hiring the people running your business and the food is delicious. Will make sure to be back next time I'm in town!
As a Mexican I 100% approve of this place. The beef quesadilla was absolutely amazing. With a generous amount of guacamole! 🥑 In fact, I have tried to find a restaurant back in Mexico that is on par with this one and I haven’t found one. It’s SO good! Note that I got this from a delivery app. They must be even better at the place. You MUST try them!
Best pastor tacos in Austin. Tortilla (corn and flour) thin and hand made. Carne asada and nopales taco was amazing. They serve your tacos with cilantro, cebolla, aguacate and salsa. I requested these ingredients on the side but it comes inside your taco. Prices are from $5-7 per taco, totally worth it. Music can be a bit loud but you can still have a conversation without raising your voice. They have a nice small bar outside, but I didn’t order drinks. I was there at 5 pm on a Tuesday, it wasn’t too busy but it looks like it can be.
The tacos here are incredible — flavorful, juicy, and made with the freshest ingredients. Every bite tastes like it was made with care. I especially loved the al pastor and birria tacos; the meat was tender, well-seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The tortillas are soft and perfectly warm, and their salsas take everything to the next level — spicy, tangy, and full of depth. What really makes Taqueria 10/10 stand out is the consistency and attention to detail. The portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the service is fast and friendly. You can tell the team takes pride in their food and their customer experience. Whether you’re a taco lover or just looking for some of the best authentic Mexican food in Austin, Taqueria 10/10 should be at the top of your list. Delicious, satisfying, and always a great time!
The asada tacos are some of the best I’ve had in a while. They have a chard parilla taste that is very traditional of asada tacos. The nopal ones are very tasty and the pastor are excellent too. The entrance is a little hidden in the back on an alley but there’s usually a line so it can be easily spotted. Definitely will come back.
Taqueria De Diez (D/10) is literally hidden in an alley, which makes finding it feel like discovering a secret. Step inside and it’s like being transported straight to Mexico, the atmosphere is vibrant, authentic, and full of character. The tacos were incredible, bursting with real flavor and care in every bite. The drinks stood out just as much. I asked the bartender to “make me something,” and he delivered one of the best cocktails I’ve had fresh, balanced, creative, and clearly made with pride, an amazing cucumber mint. Concoction. That interaction alone elevated the whole experience. Service was friendly and attentive, tying everything together. Between the alley location, authentic food, and amazing drinks, this spot is a true hidden gem worth seeking out.
I happened to run across this spot while looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant for brunch, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a little hidden in an alleyway, so you might almost miss it, but it’s absolutely worth finding. I got there just before it got busy, and let me say—this is hands down one of the best authentic Mexican joints I’ve been to in a long time. The burritos are huge! I ordered two burritos and two tacos, and it was more than enough for two people. I left completely stuffed. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Texas.
Omg amazing tacos! Small hole in the wall in DT ATX but great food. I ate 2 bc they were loaded. My hubby ate 3.5! Def going back when we return.

Weekend getaway in Austin, went here for lunch. Ambience - located in an alley, can be a little confusing to find. Walk into an alley bar, go through a door, walk through a small seating area, around the corner to the kitchen where you wait in line to order and get your food. Can be fun if you like hustle and bustle. Energetic atmosphere, everybody working fast getting customers their food. No table service, you order, you wait for your food, you try to find a place to sit. Food - very tasty, we order 3 different ones just to try out the variety between the two of us, along with a side of chips and salsa. The salsa is outstanding…probably the best flavor I’ve had in a long time. Our tacos were steak, chicken, and pork, all on homemade tortillas. Very fresh tasting and tasty, but the meat was chopped fine, tough to hold together while you eat without it falling out the ends. Enjoyed the lively atmosphere and great quick lunch. Would I go there again…yes Would I recommend…yes.
Tacos are muy bueno. I got the crispy shell chicken taco. They call it Volcán style . I ordered two and the come loaded!!!! Salsa and chips are on point. Super casual atmosphere. Little bar up front for cocktails. If you are in the area make it a point to visit ! Access to the entrance is actually in the alley.
We went there twice in one day. Should tell ya how much we liked the corn shelled tacos. Not a lot of seating but also serves alcohol. Walk up make your order they give you a ticket, give that to the cook and he'll make your tacos and find a seat. Personally I kinda like places like that. They also offered a military discount.
A taco speakeasy! How fun. When you walk in, it's a bar. You have to walk through a second door to the tacos. The tacos are delicious! They are almost $5 for each taco, but they're a pretty good size. The service was quick. You order at a counter and then give the ticket to a chef and they prepare the food. There is a sauce/ lime bar which I love. 5 star quality food, but value option was 3 stars. It was pretty spendy for street tacos, especially when there's so many options in Austin. They did mess up our order though. They gave us one less taco than we ordered, which for $5 a taco is disappointing.
The food is definitely a 5. The service would be 3, but because there was no soap nor paper towels in the restroom. However, they had hand sanitizer, though it’ isn’t my preference. Atmosphere is also a 3, quite hermetic. There is a bar outside, but it’s quite hidden. Now, the tacos are indeed delicious, there’s no question about it. They this out!
To start, I really do think they have got their meats down. These burritos/tacos are actually so delicious!!\nThe problem is the price. I just can't justify such a high cost for this kind of food, …

Mid tacos at best. The parking situation is a mess, 15 to park is asinine and then to wait 30 minutes plus for tacos is even more crazy. I was super excited but my carne asada on the tacos were not it. Not tender, super hard and crunchy and wasn’t worth the hassle nor the price (7 ish for one taco).
