PALLADIO is truly a quiet, well-kept secret. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is calm, elegant, and refined—perfect for an intimate dinner or a peaceful night out. The setting feels exclusive without being pretentious, creating a relaxing and upscale dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious thoughtfully prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every dish reflects quality and care, making it clear this kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The ambiance alone sets PALLADIO apart, but the exceptional cuisine is what keeps you thinking about your next visit. If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers elegance, tranquility, and outstanding food away from the noise and crowds, PALLADIO is the place. A true hidden gem that deserves to be experienced.

Starting with something simple like a salad, made right with salty ricotta. Simple and solidly tasty. Then, homemade tagliatelle with taleggio cream and grated fresh black truffle. That was incredible. Incredible. To finish, walnuts tortini on a bed of zabaione and fresh blueberries and raspberries. Very good. Everything paired with Vermentino first (extremely lively, nice minerality and med/long finish) and nebbiolo last (deep leathery and earthy hints). Top notch experience. Chapeau.

We would definitely recommend the wine pairing lunch. Mark was fantastic, from his wine knowledge to light conversation. At his suggestion we headed to the tasting room on site. We’ll be back!

Great ambience, and the food was delicious! The servers were attentive, the wine excellent, and the extras they threw in as an anniversary celebration were a nice touch. Definitely a once a year type restaurant (for us anyways) but it was so worth it! Prepare to pay top dollar and enjoy every second :)

The food and service were impeccable. As a vegetarian it can be difficult to feel like you're getting your money's worth in a prix fixe menu, but I was very happy with this. Do the wine pairings! Eating at the restaurant gets you free wine tastings next door as well, so plan to spend a few hours trying the wine. Walk up the hill to the ruins too! It was raining on the day we went and it was still lovely.

B
Brad Gething

Have only been for lunch and the experience has been great. There seems to be a misconception about what they are offering and that leads to people not having a good experience. If you're looking for an upscale day date or just a way to spend a relaxing afternoon with good food and good VA wines, this is a good place to do it.

A culinary experience that defies imagination. The atmosphere was top drawer. The pairings of the particular dish and wine were decadent. It was so nice to savor the flavor combinations in the dishes themselves. I truly look forward to eating there again.

Perfect! Intimate atmosphere, so hard to find anymore. Everything was excellent - standalone ingredients I abhor (green olives) are turned into dish I would order again (fried green olives stuffed with veal)! Waitstaff knows when to approach and when to leave you alone. And they were accommodating - I didn't care for one of the wines paired with my fish and they quite gladly offered another.

Every bite was delicious. Not a place to go for a quick meal, but my wife and I had a fantastic time celebrating our anniversary. The food was outstanding, and the service was very attentive without being in any way obtrusive. It is pricey, but worth every penny.

My meal at Palladio was easily my most expensive meal in 2020. My meal at Palladio was also the best bargain I’ve enjoyed in 2020; as I was fully prepared to pay twice as much as the final bill’s tally. Mark, Jill and the support servers were absolutely fantastic in every way; knowledgeable, smooth, and personable without being intrusive. Katie the maitre’d was a delight as she helped walk us through COVID accommodations and safety-ensuring adaptations. And each course of my meal was a stunningly emotional experience, with lovely flavorful oysters, a tantalizing lobster ravioli with zests of burgundy truffle mushroom, a perfectly medium rare Wagyu tenderloin served with a sumptuous vegetable medley, and one of the better apple pie’s I’ve personally had topped with a scoop of decadent delicious cinnamon sorbet. And to top it all off, the wine pairing were extremely complementary, showing off the best of Barboursville’s vineyards. My only regret on the day was that the gift shop sold out of the Tuscan olive oil that so excited us during the bread service. All in all, a meal and an experience to remember. It was both a thrill and a treasure to escape the confines of one’s own home and kitchen and be inspired by what others are doing at all levels of service. Bravo. Keep up the outstanding work and stay safe. ❤️

The event lunches and dinners are a wonderful experience to have at Palladio. Food is magnificently prepared and paired with delicious Barborsville wines. My friend is allergic to shellfish and a separate dish was prepared to replace the planned dish. We attended the Christmas lunch and look forward to another experience soon. Palladio also serves non-event meals and the chartucerie and cheese boards for the winery customers at the Library. Really good selections!

We had lunch reservations for our anniversary. The service, atmosphere, and food are all excellent. Our service team was knowledgeable and attentive. They were able to answer any of our menu questions without hesitation. Our meals and our wine were delicious!! After our meals, they surprised us with a complimentary anniversary dessert. We highly recommend them for any special occasion or even just a gathering of friends. Thanks for helping make our anniversary special.

We had the pleasure of enjoying an afternoon at Barboursville Vineyard's tasting room followed by an amazing dinner at Palladio. Everything was absolutely perfect . Our dinners were perfect, the suggested wine pairings were spot on, and the service couldn't have been better. If you're in the area you should absolutely put Palladio on your shortlist and if you're further away like we are it's worth the trip. Love this place!

I can't understand why this wonderful place has only 4.1 stars. ( If it keeps reservations available then I'll be happy lol!). Had a family weekend at Barboursville and stayed on premises. Had dinner both nights at Palladio and also had afternoon wine tastings. The staff could not have been better! The food and wine were outstanding, both evenings. Quality is definitely comparable to New York City restaurants where I have lived and dined for years. Where I live now (Aiken, SC), I have yet to discover a restaurant that comes close to the quality of the Palladio. Thank you to Chef, to Katie, to Alison, to Mark, to Luca, to Sande - you all made our weekend a joyous memorable stay! Can't wait to visit again!

My wife and I were guests at The 1804 Inn and enjoyed two consecutive dinners (Fri. and Sat.) at the Palladio restaurant in mid-March 2023. We thoroughly enjoyed our well prepared meals chosen from a nice selection of dishes, as well as attentive but not obtrusive service. As expected this restaurant offers a wonderful broad selection of wines from the Barboursville Vineyards. Compared to large urban center restaurant prices, our meals were fairly priced and ultimately a great value. The dining room ambiance was intimate and quiet for a romantic dinner next to their fireplace. We both really appreciate this restaurant and can recommend it highly.

Absolutely incredible experience! Amazing food and wine. The only negative is price. If you are not careful in what you choose off of the menu it can become very expensive. However, you get what you pay for. It was 100% worth it for the food, wine and overall experience. We stopped by the inn and restaurant for our anniversary and we will certainly be back!

My mother and I staid for a night at Barboursville and went to dinner at Palladio. The experience was incredibly special. Not sure about all of the negative lunch reviews, but I can tell you the dinner experience at Palladio is nothing short of perfection. We were married at the Barboursville Ruins 5 years ago and had our wedding dinner there, so we make it a point to visit every year on our anniversary as a special and romantic occasion. Each year the experience has hit 10's all across the board as a top dining experience. The service is always refined and impeccable, the Octagon wine never disappoints, and the meals are continuously amazing. Please do try the Wild Boar appetizer if it's on the menu, presented with lentils, caramelized onions, and blueberries... I would say this dish is on my list of the top 5 appetizers I've had anywhere in my 50 years of dining at fine restaurants. My wife's fresh Halibut main was an incredible dish as well...especially if you sub in the creamy mashed potatoes. I chose the Duck as my main course - it had a very unique and crispy presentation and I would give both this and the Halibut (after stealing part of my wife's dish) 10 out of 10's as well. Overall we would rate Palladio at Barboursville on the same level as Fleurie, Ten, and The Farmhouse at Veritas as one of the top restaurants within driving distance of Charlottesville.

As usual, the food from Palladio was exceptional and enjoyed by all of us. Service could not have been better. Eating in the Library let's us all look out the windows and see the Fall foliage, the beautiful mountains and the color changing vines!! What a great day!

My husband and I visited for our anniversary as we were married at UVA. Excellent food! I would consider this a world class restaurant. The lamb was soft and incredibly flavorful. The duck I had was the best I’ve ever had. Tasty, seasoned, crispy skin, and perfectly cooked. The winery itself boasts excellent wine, a scenic vineyard, and a barrel room that sets an authentic atmosphere. My only wish is that they had better views of the vineyard as a whole, but the restaurant itself was phenomenal and best meal I’ve eaten all year.

This was the first time we experienced Palladio Restaurant! We loved everything about it! An Afternoon with Morels turned out to be a beautiful and creative menu from start to finish! The wines were so perfectly matched highlighting each course! Chef Michael is a delight and proves to be quite talented. I thought we were in Europe! Love the professionalism of the servers. We look forward to our next adventure with Palladio!

Visited from DC during a weekend at Shenandoah and we were greeted by warm attentive service. I was apprehensive given some of the reviews but didn’t encounter any of the negative issues others have highlighted. The restaurant was flexible with our need to move our reservation a bit earlier when we called the day of and we were promptly seated and greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco and a pre-appetizer. The restaurant is a small intimate dining room with a semi formal vibe (some men in dinner jackets). We did the mixed wine flight and enjoyed each course of our dinner. Would highly recommend and would visit again.

Literally no idea how this place has only 4.1 stars. Let me start by saying I’m Italian and visiting this place helped cure my nostalgia from when I’d spend my weekend in the mountains, eating at family owned, cozy and chic little restaurants. The menu is creative and upscale Italian. I heard Italian being spoken in the kitchen which is always a good sign. And I don’t know why there are reviews that say it’s not welcoming, when you’re welcomed with a complimentary glass of Prosecco 😂. If you’re near Monticello or in the area I highly recommend it. I will say… it IS pricey. We spent about $350 for two people.

Excellent seasonal Italian menu, it reminded us of our recent trip to Italy. We had first plates of squash agnolotti and wild boar pasta, entrees were duck and veggie pot pie. We shared chocolate lava cake for dessert, which takes 20 minutes. Barboursville makes excellent wines, we had Barbera and San Giovese by the glass. A lovely meal, but time consuming and expensive.

Their wine pairings are the highlight. By far the best wine I have had from Virginia. Even varietals I personally don't normally love, such as Sauvignon Blanc, truly impressed me with their complexity. The ambiance is good, service polite and prompt. The food is a bit varied. It's all good, but only a couple of dishes that I tried were exceptional.

M
Marco Bovo

Really professional staff. Excellent cuisine. Everything was delicious and great wine. The only issues I had was that the "raviolis" where actually not ravioli, but tortelloni (still they were excellent). Also the "polenta" wasn't made the right type of flour. The Chef still did an outstanding job though. The waitress were extremely polite and knowledgeable.

C
Carol Shapiro

Food and service were excellent. The reason I only gave Palladio only four stars is they can't split a check. There were seven of us.. some didn't do the wine pairings, some did...some had two courses, some had three courses...some had dessert, some didn't. In the end we had to just split the check amongst ourselves. Apparently their cash register is ancient...they apologized but it left a bad taste (excuse the pun) in everyone's mouth. Palladio has got to come into the 21 century or we won't be going back.

Located at Barboursville winery this is overall a plesant dining experience. We were poured a glass of prosecco when seated and a served an amuse bouche after ordering which is a nice touch. Menu is Italian Style with Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Contorni and Dolce Primi is primarily pasta dishes and could serve as a main course. Each course has a recommended wine pairing There is also a full wine menu Dishes were plated beautifully. Pasta is made in house. Our mains were ok, not spectaular which for the hype and cost, I was hoping for. Service is very attentive though it felt impersonal. What we ate: *BURRATA, POMODORI E PROSCITTO- 20 Local Caiman & Gin Fiz Tomato Salad Burrata & Balsamic Reduction House Made Grissini Wrapped with Prosciutto *CAVATELLI DI RICOTTA CON PESTO DI BRoccoLI- Freshly Made Ricotta Cavatelli Broccoli, Pecorino Toscano & Almond-Pinenut-Chili Pesto *CAPPELLETTI CON CARNE E FUNGHI - Classic Hat-Shaped Small Ravioli Filled with Roasted Veal, Mortadella, Chicken, Crescenza Parmigiano Reggiano & Madison Mushrooms Royal Trumpets Thyme-Butter Sauce *PARMIGIANA DI VERDURE - Baked Egsplant, Local Oyster Mushrooms, Malabar Spinach, Vidalia Onions Wisconsin Grand Cru, Buffalo Ricotta, Rosemary, Basil & Piennolo-Pomodoro *BISTECCA DI MANZO ALLA GRIGLIA- Grilled Grass-Fed Beef Hanger Steak Sautéed Chanterelle Mushrooms, Swiss Chard al Sugo & Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes Rosemary-Cabernet Franc Reserve Reduction *Chocolate-Pecan Tart Madagascar Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream & Salted Caramel. We wanted a tasting of Barboursville wines and decided to combine with lunch at the winery. While it was a decent experience, it did not live up to expectation especially given the high price. Main observations: 1. Nice start to the meal - complimentary prosecco + excellent bread as well as olives 2. The salad was overdressed and the dressing not balanced (a little too strong on vinegar in our opinion). 3. The appetizer with the smoked fish was beautifully presented (very nice touch with the smoke) but could have used a little extra salt to bring out the flavors more. 4. The egg-saffron fettuccine was al dente and delicious but the seafood disappointing - mussels, clams and shrimp were some of the smallest I'd ever seen in a restaurant and quite uninteresting flavor-wise. 5. Risotto was good but again the octopus was fairly bland. The setting is nice and the wait staff pleasant - the one gentleman was especially helpful with wine recommendations. But overall, there were too many flaws in the execution which we would not expect at such a price point.

The restaurant was super cute and cozy. The menu was short which is nice to see as I assumed they would specialize in a few plates. We ordered the Baled phylo brie. Very strangly paired with an curried, onion jam For the main I ordered the Gnocchi. Cooked well, but the taste was very bland.

Have been here (winery) several times before, but never the restaurant. Limited seating, and reservations are highly recommended...proper attire required. We were promptly greeted, seated and provided menus, but no wine list. Wait support staff provided water and complimentary champagne immediately after seating. It took longer than I would have expected to actually get the wine list(👎)... They provided bread, and there was oil on the table (two kinds), but no herbs. I asked for a side of balsamic glaze or vinegar while waiter was about, but only brought bottle for a small pour on the oil plate (👎) We took advantage of the a la carte menu, ordering salad, wild boar appetizers, entrées and desserts w/ coffee... The tomato salad was fair (mozzarella was near liquid), wild boar appetizer was fabulous, the beef entrées (with roasted potatoes and grilled broccoli) were excellent, but both beef servings were not "hot" when served (👎). Limoncello was great but would be better without the chocolate drizzle (sort of killed the tangyness of the limon). Coffee was on par too... All in all, it was good...but not great. In my opinion, the price is reflective of the location and high number of staff, although attempting to flag them down failed on two occasions. We may consider a repeat, but perhaps lunch instead... Bon Appétit!

Not enough help in the kitchen or on the floor, most likely, as it took a very long time to receive our meals. The tuna was excellent but the steak was cold, as was the pasta. Will try again in the future when the dust settles.

First time here with a party of 4 on a Saturday. Wine was amazing, service and atmosphere were excellent. Ordered multiple courses . Very disappointed in minimal menu and main course. Both my wife and I experienced barely warm beef slices , not very tender, beef and severely undercooked carrots to the point I struggled to cut them and was afraid I might break the plate when knife finally went thru the carrots. We were with friends so politely said nothing. For their rating and $133 a person… was underwhelmed! Will stick to their wine in the future.

The Italian-style food was fine except for the gritty clams that sparsely decorated the periphery of the saffron-flavored fettuccini. The portions were generally quite small ...in stark contrast with the check.

Been to this place on a Sunday for lunch. The food was hit or miss: the lamb appetizer was great, the ravioli was bland and small (frankly, $32 bucks for four raviolis with raw zucchini and tomatoes?!?). Service was not ok; they forgot the appetizer of one in our group; waiters were not available. Plus they automatically add 22% tip to all bills, which I guess makes the staff lazy and brings down the quality of service. I will be visiting the winery again, but definitely not the restaurant.

Overrated and overpriced. Upon arriving I realized I accidentally booked this restaurant when I really thought I was booking The Library right next door. I explained this to the host and he told me I could cancel with a $50pp CHARGE. Obviously I’m not paying $200 for an accident I made but there was no remorse whatsoever. So we went ahead and kept our reservations. We felt very rushed to order, they didn’t really explain the menu considering it was our first time being there, the waiter spoke so low i kept having to ask him to repeat. The wine prices were higher than the SAME EXACT bottles of wine next door which really infuriated me. The atmosphere was uncomfortably warm for a day with temps in the 80’s. The food was good but we’ve had better for the prices they charge. They don’t let you separate checks, so expect to pay half of everything the table orders. We left with a $400 bill and went next door to The Library where the atmosphere was much more enjoyable, laid back, prices were reasonable and fair. Staff was friendly and our waitress Angie was so sweet and knowledgeable when explaining the wines to us. I’d say save yourself hundreds. Palladio is just not worth the expense. Try the Library instead.

Upscale and classy restaurant, yet it feels stuffy and not very welcoming. The staff is efficient yet not welcoming. They welcome you with a glass of complimentary bubbles, a good one. The portions are small. The prices are high even for lunch. The food is high quality, well made, yet just average outcome. The bread and olives plate is good.

B
Britte van Tiem

This place does not live up to what it would like to be. Pleasant space and OK service but the quality of the food falls far short of what you would expect in a place like this. The risotto, in particular, is one to avoid (yellow-colored dryish rice with what felt like defrosted vegetables mixed in).

P

Have been to this restaurant 3 times, only because the wines and winery are excellent. But this place isn't even acceptable. Waiters with a rude and haughty attitude, miniscule portions, and food that is just not good. The quality is simply poor. This restaurant obviously survives on locals who have few or no other options for dining out. A pitiful performance from the Chef and staff.

My wife and I arrived at Palladio at 11:55 for our 12-noon lunch reservation on Sunday. We thought arriving 5 minutes early for our reservation was the polite thing to do. Apparently, we were wrong. We found the door locked and no signs of life. Admittedly, the restaurant doesn’t officially open until noon, but we were nonetheless surprised. At 12:01, I saw someone moving in the dining room. So, I knocked on the door to be sure they realized we were standing outside (in the midday heat). By then we had been joined by another party awaiting entry. At this point, a gentleman (the “host”) opened the door while staring at me angrily and asked in a scolding tone whether I had rapped on his door. I said yes. He then told me the restaurant opens at 12! I simply said that that time had already passed. In the end the food was quite good (especially our first two courses) and of course the wine was good also. The service from the various servers was friendly and efficient. Only the rudeness of the “host” to us (his guests) soured the whole event.

K
Keelan Walkup

The atmosphere and food were both delightful. Unfortunately, the service was cold and borderline rude. Also, they were very slow and inattentive. The vineyard has the best wine in Virginia but we will not be returning to the restaurant.

M
Michael Robertson

Food was very good, service was horrible. Never an inquiry on how we were doing, long wait between courses. One of our party asked the waiter his opinion on one of the entrees and the response from the waiter was, "The menu speaks for itself." The unjustifiable snobbishness of the wait staff completely turned me off. I will not return. This has, unfortunately, shaded my opinion of Barboursville Vineyards.

My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant half a dozen times. Until our most recent experience, Th anksgiving dinner, I would have gladly praised it as comparable to some nice restaurants in Tuscany. But our Thanksgiving dinner persuaded us that we will never go back. First, the main course's Turkey most closely resembled prepared, pressed meat...ghastly. This may be due to a changeover in Chefs that is occurring. If so, it is clearly a change for the worst. Second, the billing was a rip off, this from a restaurant where I expect to pay $200! Because we have learned that the wine pairings are more wine than we want, we decided to just have a bottle of wine. Since we were seated in the tasting room, I reached over and looked at their various bottles of wine and ordered a Nebbiolo priced at $34.99. When our bill, $290, came, I asked about what seemed a mistake. I was told that the 'restaurant price' for the wine was $65. O.K., but wouldn't it have been nice if Alessandro, the wine steward, had mentioned that while I was looking at the wine list where it was listed at $34.99. The response I received essentially amounted to 'tough.' And this response seems to be a common theme in the reviews that are critical of Palladio. 'Tough service plus Tough Turkey' makes Palladio a place to avoid.

UPDATE: 11-22-2019. After an email to the management, Alessandro Medici, Maitre D' / Sommelier, responded immediately. He was totally apologetic. Vary gracious. He is taking the steps to ensure our experience is not repeated in the future. Now, that's good service! We'll give the restaurant another try...

In an area that has so many wonderful places to eat, Palladio came up short. The flavors were lacking: salad tasted burnt (odd comment, I know, but if that was intentional, it was overpowering), pastas highlighted the homemade pasta but lacked flavor and general flair that separates other restaurants around. The service was confusing, we were not greeted when we entered and the pace of the meal was overall extremely slow. My hope was the dessert would save the day but the lemon bundt was extremely dry, and without the sauce would have been difficult to swallow at all. The little things that make a night out special were absent, example the end of the meal we were brought out 4 small cookies which is a lovely touch but had they been warm, it would have been a better ending to the meal. For the price, not worth it. I don't believe we will be back, which is a shame because the winery is lovely!

The wine is amazing here. The food and service in the restaurant is just ok. We had the tuna tartare, the beef carpaccio, lobster ravioli and the quail. They were all a little bland. The best food we had were the truffle fries and gnocchi in the tasting room. The service in the tasting room and Library are fantastic and very personal. The service in the restaurant was very disengaged and detached. I definitely recommend the winery and The Library, but the Palladio was disappointing.

I went to the Palladio restaurant in Barboursville after staying the night in one of their cottages. I will say the food was good but it was a huge disappointment that there was no red meat on their menu given that I love a good red wine with a steak and the portions were VERY SMALL for the price. I also would like to say that you need to be prepared that the dining room is incredibly small, great service though. Please please add red meat to your menu! I don't understand who wouldn't want a glass of red wine with a steak??

Snotty, nose-in-the-air personnel. If you want bad, stuffy, substandard service in the middle of nowhere, this is the place for you!

Called for reservations, manager said we’re accepting walk-ins only. Got there and we were told they are done for lunch, not accepting more guests. Traveled for 1h 45 min, they don’t have a waiting list?

G
Garrett Ghent

We were 18 minutes late to our reservation. They said they cancel it after 15 minutes and they wouldn’t seat us. I even tried calling ahead to inform them and they wouldn’t answer their phone. They had my number but never tried to reach out. Unprofessional for a restaurant like this.

There is no details on reservations only, and when we called the restaurant, no one picked the phone and we drove all the way. Finally they turned us down.

C

Reservations only. Will turn you away without a reservation, even (as was our case) the place is completely empty.

What a disappointment. We ordered the prix fix meal with the wine pairing and were very excited about what could be the meal of our vacation. What we were encountered were short pours and a wait staff that completely ignored us. Short pours do happen, but other customers were getting their wines topped of while we had empty wine glasses. Food was good but spoiled by the lack of attention. The wait staff never once came back to check on us to see if everything was ok. At $150 for two people it was less than impressive.

We booked the restaurant 2 p.m. for 5 people. We arrived 2:15 p.m. At the reservation policy It was said that they would wait 15 minutes after the scheduled time, but they didn't honour it. It's a winery restaurant, in the middle of nowhere, and they should respect their own policy. We came all the way down from Washington DC, but they couldn't care less.

I visited your restaurant today together with my sister with the intention of having a nice dining experience followed by wine tasting and some “wine shopping “ to be shipped to my residence in Philadelphia. I have visited wineries in many parts of the world but NEVER come across anything nearly close to what we experienced today! We never got to have our lunch since you were booked for the day (dining room completely empty) which could just as well have been communicated by a waxdoll from madam Tussaud’s. Rude, completely stonefaced and absolutely NO attempt to mitigate the situation with an attempt to show some degree of understanding of our disbelief and disappointment. Instead of trying to salvage the situation and make us want to come back another time ( with a reservation) we left feeling completely unwelcome, unwanted!! and treated so rudely we both swore NEVER come back to your winery again!!! Yes, your winery is now linked to how we feel about your business!!! We did though end the day on a high note!! We went to another winery that had EVERYTHING that your place lack! We had a memorable lunch with extremely pleasant service ! To summarize it!!! SHAME ON YOU!!

I had no idea snobbery still existed at this level. We happened upon this restaurant on a wine weekend and were not properly dressed. We were snubbed and treated as if our money was no good there. So we left. Too bad since we had plans on visiting the tasting room and buying wine as well. I will never go to this restaurant or winery again.

J
Jerome Dane

Condescending, unhelpful "service" and worse food. Had to wait outside in the cold for 10 minutes for our noon reservation. They finally opened the doors at 12:01 without so much as a "welcome" or "sorry for making you wait". The salmon was half cooked. We didn't even bother to finish dessert which was clearly left over from a few days before.

Curt D. Collins

No personal attention. No conversation. No interest in customers. THE MOST impersonal dining experience we have ever encountered. Waste of money. If you are in the area, you are better off trying Rochambeaux. Barboursville, Palladio disappoints on many levels. If you want to excel as a fine dining experience, get to know your customers. If I could, I'd rank this experience a -2 stars.

J
Jake L

Easily one of the worse dining experiences I have had. Extremely small portions, food is very bland, overpiced. It started with a piece of aspargus "compliments of the chef" which was cold and had no spice on it. Had to send food back beacause it was cold. I ate here a few years ago and had a very pleasant experience so not sure what has changed. I would avoid this place until they get a new chef. You will just end up overpaying and leaving unsatisfied.

B
Ben Kass

The menu is small and uninteresting, food portions are absolutely pathetically puny. Getting the ravioli? Imagine four little chef boyardee raviolis on a plate for $35. Lamb chops? Gone in three bites and came out barely warm for $52. None of what we had was anything remarkable, I wish we would’ve just gone to the Cheesecake Factory. And the servers were all haughty and weird, they were nice enough but not at all down to earth or personable. And my tailbone hurt like hell after lunch because the chairs are like sitting on a wooden board. The chef/owner here really needs to rethink what he or she is doing because it’s comedically bad for a place that acts as high society as they do. There are so many amazing wineries in Virginia that are a million billion times better than this one. Avoid at all costs.

We were a party of 11 and learned we couldn’t get separate checks w party of 6 + we said oh no we don’t want to be dealing w that so we said separate the tables, 5 & 6. The gentlemen who waited on us was extremely rude and empathetic no separate checks. We asked to speak w the fill in manager 2 x before they agreed!! Then told 22% gratuity…. Ok we order and are not told that u get served by the order of the course… so one of us ordered a salad as main dish and I ordered from the 2 bd course as my only meal.. You were served my your course so our friend w salad spent her entire 3 hour nightmare while others were were served. Well I never got my meal at all. I asked the male server where my meal was and was totally ignored not once but 2 x. We let the fill in manager know of the poor service, and the insolent waiter. Ok was the food good… I wouldn’t know as I was never served. Other friends said food was ok but not good enough to justify their prices. The manager could only make excuses… the place came highly recommended but we would never go there again. What a disappointment!!
