I was craving for some crispy peking duck and this place popped up in my search so we decided to try this place. Best decision ever since it did not disappoint at all! The peking duck is crispy and delicious! Exactly what I have been wanting and craving for! The la zi ji aka spicy crispy chicken, stir fried string bean, and mapo tofu were all amazing as well! We went early Friday evening, there was no wait and the food came out quickly! I highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for some good crispy peking duck!! The service was wonderful as well, very attentive and nice servers!

Their peking duck is much better than peking cuisine’s. Duck fat was nicely rendered into the meat and there was minimal fat stuck to the crispy skin. Best of all the wrap is super thin (you are there to eat meat, not carbs). Also get the egg yolk pumpkin dish.

I came here mid-day on a Friday and we came after a lunch rush and to me, it was perfect. There wasn't too many people in there and the service and people were TOP NOTCH. I don't know why people are complaining on here - because everything they're complaining about seems to be the type of people who love to complain. My friend and I got the half duck and salt and pepper fish and it was perfect. The skin was crispy and we also got a soup broth from the duck neck and stuff. Add this with the rice and pancakes and it was so good. if you're in the area, you definitely need to give them an honest and fair chance.

WOW! The peking duck here is amazing! A hidden gem of Houston’s Chinatown. You just can’t go wrong with it. They make the skin so crispy, and the meat is juicy enough and sweet. Exactly how you want it. Definitely recommended! Half a roasted duck is $28 and a full duck is $45. You can definitely have enough with half for two people.

Loved the Peking Duck! Very authentic and only half Duck left the time we went which was dinner time. The Duck comes w wraps and also Duck soup, super fresh. Cant wait to come back again

This is my second time here. The food is great. The duck is wonderful, I will order it again in the future. The Google location is off little bit, I will try to submit a fix for that.

I was hesitating to try this place when I saw a low 2.9 rating on google. But after reading all the reviews I decided to give it a try. I’m happy I did. I probably will give it a 4 but to balance out some of the very obvious hostile comments, I’m glad to rate it a 5. We waited about 45-50 minutes cause the duck was freshly made, not reheated or fried. It was served the traditional way, skin was crispy and a generous portion which I really enjoyed. The only downside was the meat portion was a little small. We also ordered beef with enoki mushrooms and pork kidney. Both are very good. Hopefully they can keep up with the quality. The two waitresses were both very friendly and nice, we will be back.

We ordered so many dishes on the Chinese new year day, all very tasty, especially the Beijing Duck, soooo good. Empty all courses. Tables are limited, gotta come early to avoid the waiting line.

Peking Duck is the specialty of this restaurant and it does not disappoint. The service was good and not horrible as other reviewers have claimed / experienced so I get the feeling they got review bombed... I will be coming back.

Was not sure what to expect due to low ratings on google, but i’m glad I gave it a chance. Great chinese cuisine. Service is efficient. Peking duck is solid. Also the spicy pork we tried was delicious. Good flavors. Fully recommend for chinese food lovers

The duck was incredibly fatty, the skin crispy, and the pancake thin— that is to say, the peking duck is comparable to those in Beijing. Everything was amazing, and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed ourselves, and we are looking forward to returning soon.

Peking Impression is a gem! Their Peking duck is hands down the best in town crispy skin succulent meat and perfectly served. The soup was a delightful start warm and comforting. The eggplant dish burst with flavor and the salted egg yolk tofu was absolutely divine a must try! The sweet and sour pork nailed the balance of crispy texture and just the right amount of sourness. The salt and pepper squid was tasty though it could’ve been a touch crispier. Overall an incredible dining experience can’t wait to return!

Peking impression food is very delicious, traditional Asian Hunan tastes! All food we happy to ordered, we don’t have to go to the China to enjoy Asian food, we only eat in Chinatown Peking Impression, feel back to the hometown!

I had a really great experience at Peking Impression, and I’m already looking forward to going back. The Peking duck was absolutely the highlight; crispy skin, tender meat, and so full of flavor. Wrapping it in the thin pancakes with the fresh veggies and sauce just took it to the next level. Every bite had that perfect balance of savory, crunchy, and a little sweet from the sauce. I also tried the salted tofu, and they were a nice surprise, simple but really satisfying. They had a good salty bite without being overwhelming, and the texture was just right. The whole meal felt really well-prepared and thoughtful. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home and makes you want to come back.

This is a bueno as place we just stumbled into and im glad we did. I ordered the Fish soup with pickled cabbage, outstanding! I still dream about it to this day! We also had mongolian beef and general Tso chicken. So freaking good! I'm going back for that soup.

Very traditional food. I had hot pot mushrooms. Very spicy and delicious. I'm vegetarian so they made it without the traditional pork.

Was hungry for Peking Duck and found this place on Google map. The rating seems pretty good so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant closes at 10pm. We arrived around 9pm. They informed us that the kitchen was closed for cleaning but if we wanted the Peking Duck it was fine. The whole Peking Duck came with the soup for $45. It came with 18 very thin pancake, duck sauce, cucumber and green onion. The duck sauce was savory with the right amount of sweetness. The duck had a good flavor, but the skin could be a little more crispy. The soup was good. Overall the duck was good and the price still reasonable. Will go back again, but maybe a little earlier. Highly recommend this place.

Peking Impression has been impressive ever since they open. They are definitely one of the best Peking duck restaurant in Houston. Sometimes when I order too much food I usually just order half duck. It comes with big bowl of duck soup with veggies and clear noodles, very flavorful. The duck skin is so crispy and the rice paper wrap was so think that you can barely notice it's not hence you can fully enjoy the duck itself. Peking Impression is an authentic cuisine for Northeast region of China. The sour cabbage soup with clear noodle is excellent. They sweet an sour pork is way to good to pass, and the duck head is definitely my favorite. I consider Peking impression one of the best Chinese restaurant in town. And highly highly recommended.

Was here with my mom 3 days ago? The pecking was great, one of the best around town and I am a huge Peking duck fan. The kung pao chicken was just ok to me. Over all the duck was really delicious here.

Food: Foods are great. Many authentic northern Chinese dishes available there. The Peking Duck is their chef’s special and one of the best in Houston. Service: Service is the reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5. Overall OK but our waitress pushed us really hard to order more. Also she judged on our leftovers.

Q

The food was quite nice. I especially liked the sour and spicy soup, with the soft and boneless fish. The two waitresses that served us were extremely nice. I didn’t exactly like the sweet vegetable dish, it seems as if they added a lot of sugar.

Had take out that was pretty good, easy online ordering and pick up. The Eggplant with potatoes and peppers was tender and flavorful. Had a choice of three flavors for the Bok Choi, orders garlic and was fairly mild. Three cup Chicken was dry - no sauce. Wish the menu was a little more descriptive but food was great.

Authentic Beijing Duck👍 outstanding quality (both pancake, duck and sauce). Lucky Houstonian to have such a chef in town. Update- 6 months later. When we revisited the duck doesn’t look authentic as it was on the picture anymore…

This place may not be an authentic Chinese restaurant that will wow you, but I'm puzzled as to why it only has a 3.4-star rating on Google Maps. The service is good, and the food is above average. While it wouldn't be my top choice for Chinese food, it's still an option if you're in the area and unsure of what to eat.

I actually came in the area for another place I was looking forward to eat but it was closed and this was right beside it so I kind of took it as the universe trying to tell me something. I'm thankful that I took the universe's advice because the food was more than decent!

delicious and authentic! a small little shop nestled in a busy plaza, you might miss it walking by. portions are fairly large, except for the peking duck, but to be fair i believe it’s the best peking duck spot in houston! i also really enjoyed their salted egg tofu and stir fry eggplant dish, it had lots of umami and flavor.

Wonderful! Our waitress was nice and observing. I enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered, but what stood out to me was the braised beef and the peking duck (of course!). The braised beef was flavorful and so tender. The rice nice and soft, and the duck flavorful and crisp. I highly recommend those items. Siu mai and crystal shrimp dumpling was good, and so was the wonton soup. And regarding the fried rice, I wouldn’t order it as it tastes mediocre.

Came in for dinner and was going to try the Peking but decided to try all the other dishes instead. Price here are pretty high but the portions justify it. 3/5 Service was pretty awful when we came in. They sat us down and no one came to us for a while. When the person came they told us to change table so we sat there for some time so they could transfer us. Then after we were moved took a while for anyone to be flagged down and when they did they were rushing while I was ordering. It wasn’t even busy it was half tables full at most. After we ordered and the food came out there were no water or utensils. It started so bad I know it’s Chinatown but come on. But as the meal progressed another sweet employee came and checked on us. She helped us with packing the foods as well. I think it was just that one employee that gave us a bad taste. Duck soup 5/5 They were not kidding when they said that this is really tasty! So flavorful and did not expect it to be so delicious. Typical places make soups very bland. There were some noodles in here which I enjoyed. It came piping hot, made a good side soup. Price was cheap for a huge bowl also. Would come back just for this! Pickled hot fish 4/5 Very huge portion. I’ve had spicier and more flavorful elsewhere but this wasn’t too bad. It was mild but still tasty. Good amount of fish. Lightly tangy and savory. Beef and enoki 4/5 Also mild and not at all spicy but very tasty light dish. Lots of beef and good ratio of mushrooms. Beef was thin and cooked well. Salted egg shrimp 4/5 Seasoned well. Husband said was good amount of saltiness. The crunch was good and huge shrimps. I quite enjoyed the dish.

I'm really surprised by the bad reviews. It made me hesitant to try it when seeing the bad reviews on Google but I saw someone posted about it on Instagram story and it looked good! The person thought it was good so I finally decided to try it! The skin was of the duck was crispy. They only have whole ducks for for sale so you can't get half but you can always take it home and put it in the toaster oven and it will still be good! That's what I did. It comes with duck soup and thin pancakes which I personally prefer over the baos. The string beans vegetable dish we ordered was pretty good too! I would definitely come back to try their shrimp dish that I saw other customers ordered and a friend recommended the salted egg tofu. The customer service was good - there was one waitress on a Monday and she even packed out food to go for us. I would say that they do try to upsell you (understandably so since it is a business and they want more sales especially if not enough customers to pay rent and keep their business afloat) but I mean all you have to say is no. Not necessary to give a restaurant one star because of that. I am big on quality and taste of the food!

Picked this restaurant based on the great reviews. We visited on a Saturday at lunch time. It was packed which is a good sign. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The waitress visited our table right away to get our drink orders and was very friendly. Unfortunately, they don't have iced tea (an oddity for Texas) so I had diet coke instead. We decided on our choices from the extensive menu. Sesame chicken for me, orange chicken for the wife. The restaurant is very clean (except the overhead duct work which definitely needs dusting) and the decor is very nice. I especially like the rope lights above each table. My wife did use the restroom and said they were very clean as well. About 15 minutes after we ordered the waitress came to the table and apologized for the wait since they were very busy. No problem, that's understandable. Now comes the reason they didn't get 5 stars. We waited 43 minutes for our food. Now, I understand they were busy however a group of 4 were seated at the table behind us 15 minutes After we put in our orders and they received their food way before us. We waited until 35 minutes After we had ordered then questioned the waitress and she apologized again, offered me a free can of coke, which I declined as I still had the first one. Finally, 43 minutes after we ordered the food arrive. Now, I'm going to guess this one a one off thing and that our order was misplaced. The food was DELICIOUS!! And very generous portions. We both have enough left over for another meal. And, base on how many orders of Peking Duck went out to other tables I'm going to guess it's one of the best dishes. I've never had Peking duck but I think I'll try it next time we go. I would also have assumed, since we waited so long, that possibly they would have given a bit of a discount but they did not. We will try them again although it won't be on a Saturday at lunch.

This place now takes the crown for the best Peking Duck in town 👑🏆 The skin is crispy and had the flavor reminiscent of the Peking Duck I've had in China. The soup could use more tofu and noodles, but the soup base flavor was excellent! The black fungus in vinegar was refreshing and a treat to have alongside the duck. The bathrooms could use some more attention.

Some were hollow and missing the tofu. We will definitely come back to try their other dishes.

The temperature of the duck was not hot enough. I called a few days before to make a reservation, and the answer was “not necessary”. When I visited, there was a long line. While waiting I heard the phone was ringing, but no waitress (there are 3) was available to pick up the phone. Obviously, understaffed. Service was slow, and 3 waitresses were not able to cope when the restaurant was full.

This restaurant is popular with young families with small children. The type of food served includes spicy, deep fried, and sweet-and-sour dishes. They are all edible but not very authentic Chinese food. The Peking duck was OK. The duck was sliced and served in two small oval plates. The soup of the duck bone was also fine. However, the pancakes definitely looked like they were machine made and too thin. Some veggie dishes like Japanese Tofu and Dry-fried string beans were tasty. It was a busy day when we visited and the service was not attentive. In all, I give it 3 stars.

this is my first time here and will be the very last!!!! it is quite a small restaurant not many tables which I get which cause a long wait but we came early for dinner at 5pm and it was half full!!! it took a long time for someone to come our order especially for drinks! we came especially for the duck but it is not the long wait and bad service for it. and to make matters worse what kind of Chinese restaurant that does not have enough of regular plain white rice! again we were here at 5pm and the restaurant said it close at 10/11pm, and when we ask for more rice they say they are running low and need to check to see first. no wonder they barely have us much rice to begin with which is why we asked!

Can see the potential but it was a miss for me. I came here twice attempting to try the Peking duck. First time I came, waitress sat us down and asked drinks... then I ordered the Peking duck to find out they were sold out of ducks. Why wouldn't you let us know ahead prior to seating if that's your main specialty? Came back the 2nd time, they had the duck! But then right when it arrived I was already disappointed. The duck skin itself was not crispy. It had that fatty flavor that it should, but then failed to be crispy. That was disappointing. Then the duck breast itself was dry. It was also room temp. So I pretty much got a cooked duck that sat there for who knows how long. They didn't even reheat it to crisp up the skin. It was overall ok but disappointing because I was expecting more. There is potential for it to be really good if it was moist and crispy. The flavors were there. They also didn't cut through the duck as multiple pieces were still stuck together. The pancake was perfect though, not too thin or thick. They were not stingy on the sauce/cucumber/scallion. Service was alright too. Only 1 waitress for the whole restaurant. When I ordered 1 duck for 2 people, she gave me a look and asked "just 1 duck? Nothing else?" And after I responded yes just 1 duck. She lingered and asked again "ok so just 1 duck..." she was pushing for us to order more and because we didn't she gave us an attitude

We went on a Wednesday evening kind of late (past the dinner rush) and it wasn't crowded but there were more people than I expected. Even though there were bigger open tables, our party (4 adults + a baby) were seated in a booth with no room to stick a chair at the end so my husband and I had our 1yo crammed between us in a booster seat. Other than this one thing, the server was fine, didn't pressure us to order more as other reviews have been saying. We ordered the duck, eggplant and green beans, and Japanese tofu. The duck was definitely not a full duck. I think a regular chicken has more meat than we were served. The presentation was pretty nice so maybe people don't notice. It's probably something like 2 ducks every 3 orders or something. Also the duck was dry and the skin a little chewy. You can tell it's not fresh. The Japanese tofu was quite salty but the squid cooked perfectly-- very soft. The eggplant was decent too. All in all, I would consider maybe returning for the other dishes but for a place whose name is Peking Impression, I really expected their duck not to be so much of a rip off.

My mouth was full of fat & oil aftet this meal. My stomach was floating because all of the dishes were too oily. I’d expected a lot about the peking duck but it was the one disappointed me the most. The skin wasn’t even crispy. As soon as I bited the skin, my mouth was full of the duck fat. Only the sting bean was 4/5, a bit salty to me. The beef, kidney, and salt egg shrimp were so … 😫😫 The servers didn’t pay attention to us.

Never do I write any reviews but this time I have to do this so the restaurant can improve their service. I’ve been recommending this restaurant to my friends for their good peking duck but they failed my family the 2nd time. Today is the worst because we supposed to celebrate my mom’s birthday so we did our reservation which we did reserve the peking duck in advance as well. But when we order our food, everything came out except for the peking duck. And we did patiently waited for 1 and a half hour then have to cancel it. The food is good but not enough if the restaurant does not improve on their service. You don’t want your customer to get frustrated every time they come to eat. Really bad experience for us.

I called a few days ago to pre-order a duck for Christmas Day, the lady who answered said they don’t take pre-orders. She then tells me that their first duck comes out at 11:40am and just to be here by then. I showed up at 11:20am and the lady was rude and says they don’t have any ducks left. She said that they had a lot of ducks this morning but none left. I told her you guys said no pre-orders and to be here by a certain time. She just said a lot of ducks this morning, come back in the afternoon. Will never go there for this poor service

"Don't let the fancy exterior fool you. The food is just mediocre Chinese fare, but the service is atrocious. We waited over an hour for just two items. We watched later arrivals get their food while we sat there. Then, we discovered our noodles had been sitting on someone else’s table; the staff literally just moved the plate from their table to ours after we complained. Being busy on a holiday is no excuse for being rude, arguing with guests, and still having the nerve to ask for a tip."

Now Boiled Beef in Hot Chili Oil is too bad to eat. It has been noted that there is less salt, but it is still very salty. Moreover, the quantity of dishes is very small, and the taste and quantity of dishes are not as good as before. Colleagues also feel the same way and will not order again. It's not worth the price!
