Food tastes great! One pasta plate can either shared by 2-3 person depending on their appetite. The ambience is romantic and good for small celebrations. The service is very fast and accommodating.
Excellent food all round. The pork cutlet was sublime. Our party of three were super impressed with the quality of the food. Service was attentive and not pushy. The espresso pannacotta really rounded off a great experience.
Amazing experience, the space is great and even in a colder night, it was amazing for outdoor dining, they have heaters that make a very nice warmer atmosphere. The staff is very nice, everyone very helpful and kind. From the starters to the mains, everything was great, not forgetting the amazing cocktails! The portions are quite large, so we ended up taking some food home for our next meal, we'll be definitely coming back!
Brought a friend from east coast. She (we) loved the coconut shrimp and bread pudding
Vivace in Belmont is a must-visit for Italian food lovers! Their lasagna is hands down the best—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. If you’re craving dessert, don’t miss the tiramisu; it’s the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. The atmosphere is charming, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend!
Gal behind the bar was great. Enjoyed the pork medallions and tiramisu My professional organization hosted a meeting here and we had a good time. Great service
What else can be said other than the food was fantastic? It was a very classy restaurant with dark intimate lighting and seating. There was a plethora of wine options and the Chianti I ordered was the perfect choice. The bread pick was really good considering it was simply bread with a side of what seemed like a balsamic vinegar olive oil mix which surprised me in being a great add on. Even though it was busy the service was exceptional and our waitress was lovely. The main course of Chicken Parmesan was pretty good and so was the Caesar salad as far as salads go. Finally the Creme bru le was so good I ate every last bite. Best spot for Italian in the area.
We had my mom's 80th surprise party here with a party of 48. Arrick and team did a phenomenal job! The food, the atmosphere and service was fantastic. Nothing but compliments from our guests!
We ordered the margherita pizza and black mussels via Uber Eats to enjoy with homemade arugula salad. This hit the spot! Tasty and flavorful, we want to try other dishes in the future.
Fantastic restaurant - highly recommend reservations & go with a group to try out multiple dishes Meat Lasagna + Warm chocolate lava cake were the favorites!
Very nice ambiance. Good cocktails and great service. The appetizer was very well prepared. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
I don't think I've been in the when the owner, Mike, isn't there greeting and makes sure the place runs smoothly. The staff is great and the food is fantastic. Don't expect to find it dead on a Friday or Saturday night, but we always seem to find a table or a spot at the bar fairly shortly. Try the place, I'm highly doubtful you'll dislike it.
Great Italian restaurant. Bartenders are well-trained and wait-staff knowledge of food and wines. Gets busy. Parking can be difficult.
Service was great! Food was really good! Wait was a little long, but luckily we made reservations in advance, but for being December 31st that was perfect.
Had the prawn 🍤 and 🥬 kale salad. Vinaigrette was light and refreshing, prawns were cooked perfectly and seasoned as you’d expect...great lunch meal that was filling and light at the same time.
Great service and the food was fabulous. I will definitely go there again and refer friends and family. Wonderful atmosphere also.
We had a fantastic dinner at Vivace! Good atmosphere. Great and fresh food. Very tasteful. Wonderful choice of wines and their advice which one to choose was superb. Our waiter was accurate and very friendly. Best restaurant experience!
This is a great dining spot if you fancy delicious Italian food. V’been coming here for years with family and friends. Always delighted with the selection of masterfully made Italian dishes. The wine list is also up to date. Really enjoy this neighborhood gem.
Dine in or take out, always delicious! #1 restaurant in Belmont! Private dining room for special occasions. Love it!
Good pizza, good pasta and save room for the Gelato sundae!!! Can't wait to go back and try brunch! Our Server was excellent. Very attentive.
This place makes believe good Italian food can be found outside NY. Highly recommend getting something from the pasta selection and the aranchini hits the spot. The service is remarkable. Highly recommend!
I’ve been dining at Vivace since 1994 - too many work lunches to count LOL, a surprise *special* birthday party for my wife, client lunches (pre pandemic) and dinners, multiple private corporate events, etc.! I live in the South Bay and don’t make it up to Belmont often but every time I visit, Mike, Aarick and Jimmy greet me warmly as a longtime friend and they always remember my favorites (veal tortellini and Cesar salad with anchovies)! Every close by Italian restaurant we eat at we compare to our Vivace Gold Standard!!
I've been going to Vivace for over 20 years, and it's a great restaurant. The food is excellent, and the staff is outstanding. They always make sure that your meal is perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
Great place to have a family dinner. It was crowded but the scene was lively and vibrant. Food was great and so were the desserts and wine. We tried different items from the main menu and also the kids menu. Taste was superior compared to other Italian restaurants. Finding a parking spot is easy. We will repeat. Please make an appointment prior to showing up at this place.
New years Eve very busy as expected. We had a table for 10. The service was top notch, food was as always excellent. The restaurant is one of the best on the Peninsula. Try it you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic evening. Celebrating my daughter's birthday. Everything was GREAT! All 6 of us had nothing but praise! They even brought my daughter a celebration piece of taramaso with a candle. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite restaurants and they have really done an amazing job during the shutdown. Every meal that I have ordered from them is phenomenal and one can order a delightful cocktail to be delivered pre-mixed in a chilled mason jar. GENIUS!
The food and service were amazing! There was a party of 60 in one of the back rooms but they made sure that we were served first and that we were comfortable. Definitely want to go again soon. That focaccia bread was delicious! 🤤🤤🤤
Delicious gnocchi and the Pizzas were good according to other people in my party. The gelato was delicious (and they brought it out free with a candle after one of my friends slyly mentioned to our waiter that we were celebrating another friend's birthday.
I've been going here for over 25 years. Always a pleasant setting and service. Food, Wine/Cocktails, Deserts - are all excellent. When other Italian restaurants drop their quality - Vivace has always remained top-notch.
What an absolute amazing experience at Vivace Ristorante! Arrick, the event coordinator was flawless! Arrick, thank you for your help from the outset with all the many choices, suggestions, guidance and coordinating the many details that went into creating such a wonderful Baby Shower gathering. Everything was perfect! I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone for the fantastic service, the comfortable venue, the outstanding food, service, advice and help I received prior to and on the day of my daughter’s Baby Shower. Many guests who reside in San Francisco were delighted to find a restaurant that exists outside of “The City.” The private room was perfect. The service was impeccable. The staff went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. The attention to detail and your great communication skills made this a day to remember. This was in no small way due to the efforts of you and the entire staff. Thank you again for making the day so wonderful. I felt like I just showed up and everyone took care of each detail. It was all just so perfect!
Very nice -- atmosphere, service, food. Excellent and extensive wine menu, which is exactly what you would expect to find at a fine California restaurant. A bit later service than most restaurants in the area; another nice feature.
Attended a private party there. The food and service were outstanding. Had salmon, mashed potatoes & asparagus. Don't forget the cheesecake. All delicious.
My lamb fell off the bone - let's start there. Delicious, fatty, succulent, smells-so-damn-good... all words to describe my osso buco. I would be back in a heartbeat. My first trip there, but it will not be our last. Can't wait to eat on their new patio!
Vivace is my local. My wife and I love to have cocktails and dinner at the bar. Dana is the best bartender around.
Stopped for a drink at the bar with a co-worker and ended up ordering a delicious thin-crust pizza. After 30 minutes or so, the place was really hopping. It's very popular with the locals. The menu looked worth a future dinner visit! Worth checking out if you've never been.
Super delicious authentic Italian food from beginning to end! Started with Caesar salad n pizza as an appetizers for the table of 5 adults. Then we ordered short rib tortellini, snapper piccatta, linguini marinara and shrimp dish. Dessert was Tiramisu . All of it very yummy! For a Tuesday, it was mostly full but not noisy. A definite place to be a regular!
A really special place with delicious food! Perfect for a cocktail or celebration, the staff are also excellent.
If you chance to visit Sienna, make Vivace Ristorante the first meal on your list. You will not regret it. Crafted menu, local experience, and if the weather cooperates - find the patio around 7-8 pm…..
Really nice service and ambiance. The food is always consistently high end.
Best Italian restaurant in the area. Every dish was well prepared and delicious. The squid ink pasta was cooked perfectly to our taste. Will definitely come again.
We visited Vivace on a referral from a friend that has been a frequent visitor at Vivace on Sunday 5/25/2025. Most of our food orders were above expectations. The service provided by Nesa was superb, very friendly, pleasant, really on it and professional. We will definitely return to hopefully repeat the same terrific hospitality. Thank you to the entire staff, all were excellent and friendly. Thank you Nesa.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that consistently delivers the same high quality year after year, but Vivace has done just that. Whether we're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a quiet family dinner, Vivace has been the place we've turned to for comfort, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Here's to 23 years of memories, and we look forward to many more. Thank you Mike!
Food was enjoyable, server and service excellent, busy full restaurant!
Fabulous food, ok prices, excellent atmosphere, and delicious food!?Must go
Vivace is solid. Very consistent food and service and a good menu that changes, but not too fast, so you can come back and enjoy favorites. There are also plenty of options at different price points.
The food and drinks were fantastic and the atmosphere very nice without feeling “stuffy and pretentious”. However, what really set Vivace apart was the charm of the service. The young hostess was warm and welcoming and went out of her way to clean up a nice booth for us. It only got better with our waiter Jimmy who has been with the restaurant for 25+ years. He was attentive, engaging and provided us with extra plates, etc with a smile on his face.
Awesome place. Great vibe, staff, and food! The chicken is off the charts as is the veg food. Also handle food allergies very well. We even held a 45 person event here without a hitch (Sanaa and team accommodating everything so smoothly, and everyone loved the place). It's a great spot in Belmont!

Overall: We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service at Vivace. It's some of the best Italian I've had in the Bay. We got (favorites first): - Mussels & sausage app: This was delicious. Mussels were tender; accompanying fennel-y sausage, red sauce, and bread all went great together. - Arancini app: I love arancini, and these traditional ones delivered. - Linguine alle vongole: Solidly executed. Pasta texture was perfect to my liking. - Pollo alla diavola: The way they managed to debone the breast and thigh while keeping it all one piece with the skin and grill it was impressive. The spicy rub was good, though the meat itself without the skin was a tad bland. I appreciated that this came with roasted potatoes and brussels sprouts to make it a well-balanced entree. - Poached pear salad (special): A good classic pear salad, though nothing to write home about. It's worth noting that the portion sizes were bigger than I expected. Because the menu was organized in Italian style (meat dishes under secondi section), I assumed portions would be like in Italy for primi (pasta course) and secondi (meat course), where each person orders one primo and one secondo. We opted to share one primo, one secondo, and three appetizers. This turned out to be a lot of food, as even the waitress mentioned. I'd say the pastas and secondi here are more like typical entree portions at most American restaurants. And the mussels appetizer was bigger than I expected too. We had a Friday 6:45 reservation but arrived a bit late at 7. The place was packed, and we waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Once we were seated, though, service was surprisingly fast - we had already taken a look at the menu online, so we ordered right away, and food came out very fast for an Italian place. The entrees came at perfect timing maybe a minute or two after they cleared the apps. It's definitely a pricier place, but it feels fair for the food quality, service, and ambiance. It was a bit loud as the restaurant was so packed, but we were still able to have conversation. Overall, this is some of the best Italian cooking I've found in the Bay (admittedly, the competition is not super high here).
We recently celebrated my uncle’s birthday at Vivace Ristorante, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. My Uncle was over the moon with the celebration! We were in private room, which was beautifully set up and created the perfect atmosphere for our guests. Everyone had a chance to enjoy their cocktails and mocktails while catching up before dinner. The service was outstanding, and we want to give a special shout out to Charlie, who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. His recommendations were spot on! All the staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. A third of our guests enjoyed the Wild Viking Scallops and Prawns Risotto, so it was a big hit! The Heirloom and Truffle Burrata was a standout also. This was the third time we had a family party at Vivace, and we’ll definitely be back for future celebrations. Highly recommended!
This is one of our regular date night spots! It has an incredible vibe: cozy, but not stuffy, classy but still vibrant an d bustling with people. But even then we dont always have a reservation and we've never waited more than 5 mins for a table. Food is delicious and service in friendly. They also have an extensive wine menu. Finally they are open till 9 which is later than a lot of other Italian restaurants. Just be prepared to spend over $100 for two people.
We have been going to Vivace for many years and their food and service iare amazing! We used for the first time their catering service. We had a family get together at home for a 12 people sit down dinner. Quality, price and taste were exceptional!!! So delicious! Everybody raved about their snapper alla piccata dish. Their portions were very generous and there were left overs for seconds that some of our guests went for. Highly highly recommend not just the restaurant but their catering service as well!!
Vivace is one of our absolute favorite restaurants — whether for a special celebration or just a lovely date night out. Yesterday would have been my parents’ 55th wedding anniversary. My father passed late last year, and in his honor (and to lift my mom’s spirits), we took her to Vivace for dinner. We didn’t mention anything when making the reservation — we just knew Vivace would make the evening feel special. From the perfect table by the fireplace to the incredible care from the entire team — Mr. Gunn, the servers, and especially Nessa — everything was flawless. Nessa made my mom feel so cared for and special, even without knowing the circumstances. Thank you, Vivace, for your wonderful team, delicious food, and for creating such a beautiful place to share meaningful moments. You truly go above and beyond every single time.
I had my 80th Birthday Celebration at Vivace, & it couldn’t have been better! Sanaa (Events Coordinator) & her staff were warm, welcoming & efficient, the food was delicious, & the atmosphere contributed to the soecialness of the evening, If you’re considering a special event of your own, don’t hesitate to have it at Vivace. The food, staff, & ambience were all top notch. Martha Dunn

Beef tartare We love the seafood spaghetti the most The lobster ravioli is ok The pizza is not as good as the pastas
Decent brunch spot in downtown Belmont. More known for its Italian dinner dishes, brunch is a relatively new thing. Bottomless mimosas for $14/person is hard to beat! Omelettes and Eggs Benedict were both well cooked. Service was a bit slow, as it was very crowded and overwhelmed by a private event
Good food, nice selection of wine, good service.
First visit to Vivace for Grandchild BDay dinner. Jimmy, our Server, was attentive and informative. The appetizers seemed small for the price with the prosciutto and melon very tasty. The shishito peppers are a must appetizer! The main dishes included a rib eye steak, pasta with clams, angel hair pasta, a shrimp spinach salad, an ink squid pasta with mussels, and a sea food risotto. Food was well prepared and tasty with all plates empty! The only negative was the Tenuto Di Arceno Chianti Classico tasted “corked”. We drank it anyway but had Machiavelli Chianti Classico Riserva for our follow up bottle. Overall a solid meal 😎
Good food but the wait was a bit too long. Would not recommend casual attire. I had the lamb, it was good. Wife had the seafood pasta special and loved it. Friendly staff. Would go back.
We ordered arancini, corn soup, portobello paglia e fieno pasta and warm chocolate lava cake Everything was soooo good, especially the Choco cake.
Vivace is consistent, good food and lively atmosphere. Salmon was cooked as I requested (not over cooked). Much appreciated!
Every time I end up here, it's for an event. So I've never actually ordered the food off the menu, the meal is usually pre picked by the person hosting the event. That being said, the food is still decent, service is top notch, and they do a good job of creating a charming ambience. I will make it a point to dine here outside of an event that I'm invited to.
2 of us arrived about 5:30 on Saturday evening without reservations, and were seated right away. Paid $3 for a bread basket, got drinks and calamari appetizer, my wife said she prefers my margaritas 🍹, but I enjoyed my IPA. The calamari was tender, tasty, and abundant. I ordered the manicotti, it was tasty, wife ordered the squid ink pasta with seafood, delicious. We also really liked the poached pear salad. 2nd time here in a week, we'll be back.
Relatively less veg options, serving size is relatively small for the price charged especially for Bruschetta, other items were ok in taste a bit on bland and too cheesy, but service was decent, main room atmosphere is busy over the weekend, despite having reservation we had to wait a good 15 mins.
Very nice meal for 3. Beet salad, kale salad, porkchops, ravioli, cheesecake, and bread pudding. All food excellent. Service very good. Have been here before, and always say "we should come here more often" !
We went for an early 5:30 dinner. Food and service for excellent. I thought the prices were high. Over $20 for plain pasta. I've been there numerous times before for happy hour. Nice friendly group of people. My friends had a group anniversary dinner there. It was very well done.
Love everything about this place. Taking off a star because it's gotten too expensive and they've succumbed to those hidden surcharges. A spaghetti, salmon, 2 cocktails, app, and dessert was almost $200 out the door, which doesn't compare well to other options.
Was recommended by fellow guests at the Hotel. Atmosphere is really nice. Staff was awesome and food was very tasty. Price is a little high but overall great place. Seems like a cool date night establishment.
A small and intimate place, good Italian food with a few surprises! The staff is attentive and friendly and the place is quite cozy. True thin crust pizzas are my favorite - try the Diavolo! There is secret parking just east of Vivace - a small public lot by the ballpark.
Nice cozy restaurant with excellent decor. Wine selection is pretty good and vegetarian pizza was awesome too. I will definitely come back for more. A bit noisy though on a Friday eve.
Service was a bit slow for brunch, but they weren't very busy. The bottomless mimosas are very inexpensive at $14, but the slow refills help justify it. Food was really pretty good, and I'm hopeful that as their brunch takes off it will get better and better. My table had the 2 egg breakfast, ricotta pancakes, corn beef hash, and vivace Benedict, everyone was happy or pretty happy with their food. I had the pear-idise which was surprisingly very very good. A very rewarding brunch overall.
I ordered a few items for takeout and most were tasty. The pizza was a bit bland and the crust was salty? But the pasta and appetizer were delicious. I will absolutely get the pasta again, and just pass on the pizza. Very cute inside! Would be perfect for a date night.
Why I did not like this place even though it is highly rated, let me explain, even though the food is really delicious, the day I went I had to wait first for a table, then they take us to an area where they celebrate birthdays and the noise of the voices talking was extremely loud where I could not even hear the person next to me, then we had to wait approximately an hour for them to serve us, they bring us the drinks and we waited another 40 minutes if not more for them to take our order, even so we were still waiting for the food to be brought for approximately 40 more minutes bringing us the dishes in a different order and waiting to have the entire thing for everyone to start eating, anyway we never saw the waitress to ask if we needed anything, the service was fatal, the noise was extremely horrible and I left the place so stressed, the only thing that seemed very polite to me was the boy who came to apologize (thank you) and gave a coupon to my friends that I hope someday they both enjoy and do not go through that bad experience again, of everything else the place seemed beautiful to me, well kept and of presence.

The arancini and butterscotch creme brûlée were great. The gnocchi was quite unidimensional and left me disappointed. The ambience was great. Parking is also complex so we used the nearby park
Vivace Ristorante offers a charming and elegant atmosphere, making it a great choice for both casual dinners and special occasions. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth from start to finish. The menu features a variety of authentic Italian dishes, with many options for pasta, seafood, and desserts. The food was flavorful, well-presented, and cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. Service was prompt most of the time, although during busy hours there might be a slight wait. Overall, a delightful place to enjoy Italian cuisine in a cozy setting.

Atmosphere and service were great but the vanilla creme brulee was over torched (see photo). The ice wine was tasty but pretty steep in my opinion at $25 for a glass. I might try it again eventually.
I’ve never in my life had a reservation for 6:30pm and waited until 8pm for food to come out. This is insane. There wasn’t even free bread or anything to make up for the wait time. We just sat with an empty table for over an hour. The ambiance is cute and the food was really good. Review Update 2->3 stars. The servers understood that they had issues with the kitchen and offered us free desserts. I like free desserts, but an hour and a half is still really long 😒
Good business brings in too many customers it can not cope with. Pretty noisy and crowded. Yet my friends and I found the dishes are just mediocre.
1st impression, great vibe & tasty wine, however quickly disappointed. It took 50 mins past our reservation to be seated. Food came out quickly, however placing our order took time & waiter forgot about us. Overall, disappointing service, over priced & good wine.
The food, service, and atmosphere here is fine. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to excite you. Divino, a mile away, is a far better expression of Italian cuisine. I'd suggest going there instead.
Food was very spectacularly below average. All the dishes ordered (pizza, shrimp pasta, burgers) were all bland. The supposedly wagyu beef burger seemed like a frozen store bought burger. The fries were decent enough. The pizza tasted like cardboard and the gnocchi was more cheese than actual pasta. Would definitely not recommend. Restaurant was very overpriced for the quality.
We waited 35 minutes and we had a reservation!! They gave our table to a walk in despite us coming right on time. Food was okay, but this part was sort of on me since I decided to order the burger (in an Italian restaurant, bad decision, i know). Despite that, the burger wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever had, it was just too big for me. I tried my brother’s pasta, it wasn’t that good. But my other family members said their food was really good, so this might just be me.

I went there on new year Eve hoping to get a great dinner however the food was medicore. The service was great , our waitress was very nice but the food was not at all worth the money. I got ln lamb ragu fettucine, I felt the lamb was old coz I got stomach ache after eating it. My friend got ravoili, the sauce was oily instead of creamy and the whole dish was sweet. Won't be visiting again.
Place an togo order of penne pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. Got there to pick it up no one at hostess stand and manager or owner drinking wine with friends at the bar. Waited few minutes and nothing happened. Went to the bar and told the manager that I had an to go order. My order arrived fast. Paid the tab and left tip for the person who brought my order. When I opened the Togo box at home no bread, about 25 penne pasta tossed with butter and garlic, no cheese and I got charged for $18.00. Totally it was not worth it.
The food was fine, but not too good. I would say it’s overpriced. The wine is pretty expensive and the bread costs $3 It wasn’t fresh and special, it was like any other bread I can find in any store. Kind of weird that they have 5 star reviews
I can’t tell you if their food taste good but I know that their kitchen closes at like 8:45 on Sunday even though they say open until 9:30. My husband and I were having a bad day and hoping to go somewhere nice. Sadly they turned us away.
The appearance and quality of food was a joke. Especially for the price. I don't mind spending $ on good food but this was nothing special. Thank goodness they have a nice wine selection
The personnel did not care. The waitress did not introduce herself. Never checked on us during the meal. I have had more pleasantries from Denny's and IHOP servers. No one ever asked if the meal was good. I had chicken parm. It had set under heat lights for ever. The pasta was hard, like rubber. And difficult to cut and chew. The chicken was difficult to cut. The coating was crusty. Hard. I mentioned to my wife that Safeway frozen dinners must be pretty good because I think that is where my dinner came from. The Caesar Salad was tasty. However, the lettuce was wilted. The croutons were like they dumped the crumbs from an empty bag on the salad. I did like that the anchovy taste was present. From all the hype I have heard about Vivace I expect more.
It seems Vivace is no longer honoring reservations. We had reserved a table for Friday 12/13 at 7:15pm. We showed up 5 minutes earlier. What we encountered was basically chaos. There were 5 or so people already waiting in front of the hostess station. Since the restaurant has no proper waiting area, we were all standing in a busy corridor, dodging servers and incoming / outgoing patrons. After a while, the hostess curtly informed us that "you're checked in". Time passed... about 15 minutes after our appointed reservation time, the hostess asked us to re-verify our name and curtly informed us "you're next". At 7:32pm - after more than 15 minutes standing awkwardly and moving constantly to dodge people passing through - we were still not seated and we saw no prospect of being seated soon. So we left. Later, the restaurant reported us to OpenTable as no-shows. This used to be a beloved neighborhood spot, so I honestly hope they get a handle on their problems. But I'll be giving them a pass until then.
