Wonderful food, pleasant service, wonderful interiors. Been wanting to taste Ethiopian food for the past few years. Didn't get the people to tag along until now. Not disappointed at all. The Injera is sour and get overwhelming after a while. There's nothing to change the sensation. But that's Ethiopian cuisine and can't take that as a negative. Tried the meat combination this time. Will try different dishes the next time.
Leave plenty of space in your stomach before coming here! We shared 2 of the vegetarian entrées which are huge and so tasty. Grab a Groupon voucher to get a meal including wine. Service can be a little slow at times but tried and enjoy the food!
It was fantastic! Been craving Ethiopian food for months, and this place fulfilled ten fold.♥️
This is how we do Berkeley. I've been eating at Ethiopia Restaurant for 20 years, never been disappointed. I eat the vegetarian lunch buffet usually, but everything is good here. The veg lunch buffet is mostly vegan too- just a tip for the review readers! I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant or its staff. And the PRICE!! You can get an entire lunch buffet for under $10. Those of you complaining don't even deserve to go here. I'm born and raised East Bay, it does not get any better than "Ethi's" <3
Great food. They have a back patio which is covered and has heaters, and we we've eaten there three times during the pandemic. We ate there one string a huge rainstorm, and dry and comfortable but had to wear a jacket.
I really loved the food and the service was so nice. I did not see ethiopian coffee on the menu. Red lentils and split peas were great, i really loved some vegetables that may have been collard greens. Warning: bulgur is just that, plain bulgur! Spiciness was good for me. I wish the injera was served hot instead of cold.
Great little Ethiopian place! I recommend the vegetable combination. It's small but I've been there three times and I have never felt cramped. They have a really great Groupon deal that lets you eat at half price, definitely look into it.
I've been here twice with friends and it's a really great experience when you do it family style! You get to try much more different vegetarian and meat options that way. The bread that you use as your utensils are always piping hot! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good Ethiopian restaurant.
I have been coming to Ethiopia Restaurant for the past four years and I cannot emphasize how amazing it is!! Their veggie combo is my favorite, my go-to comfort food. The staff is always attentive. The newly renovated outdoor patio is lovely!
Reasonably priced, service, and just excellent food, I love it. However, you need to find a zen place before going because everything there is on "Ethiopian time." Don't misunderstand, it's just beyond delicious but for sure comes with trade offs It's also surprisingly affordable, so that helps my enjoyment too :-D
Meals are simple yet tasty And leave a good memory of some melancholic home dish, yet it Brings you closer to home. Geart service they took their time explaining the menu for me.
Excellent food and laid back vibes. I think I've tried and enjoyed every one of their vegetarian options by now. The shiroye is at the top of my list. I also recommend getting the "pick any 5" combination... then going back again another day and picking a different 5!
I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options they had in their menu. We were a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) and we ended up ordering too much food because one plate of Nene'wee or any other item on the menu, with unlimited injeras can easily feed one adult and one kid. All the veggies and lentils that were served tasted good with distinct flavors, and the portion size was generous. Will visit again.
Had amazing outdoor seating (great for being covid safe), came here with my parents and we all loved the food! Service was great as well, our server was very nice and attentive. My mom and I especially enjoyed the Tej (Ethiopian honey wine) and it went amazingly well with the food. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try out new cuisines!
We have been coming here for years! THE BEST ETHIOPIAN FOOD you will ever have! The service is wonderful, as is the Mama, that seems to be running this feels like home resturant. We dine in and always order a whole other meal to go! Literary I wish my house was joined to this resturant! IT IS THAT GOOD!
This place is so cool. The food is always plentiful and delicious. Highly recommend!
Out of all the Ethiopian restaurants in the area- this is by far the best! Each dish is unique, delicious and prepared to perfection! My personal fav is the vegetarian combo, but we often also order the beef or lamb tibs! Heave been coming here for 10 years and it only gets better.
Great food , great service , we loved the Ethiopian wine. Great value for the money considering the portions and quality of food . Definitely would recommend especially for a big party in the patio area . We’ll definitively go there again ! Thank you to our wonderful host/ waitress!
Loved the food and the traditional honey wine
Best Ethiopian food in Berkeley! The gluten-free injera is particularly good. Great for take-out or to eat there - they have a lovely patio in the back. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but we’ve never minded.
Delicious meal! I ordered the 3 stew combo (lamb, beef, and chicken) since it was my first time trying Ethiopian food! The server was very kind & carefully explained the background and even suggested how to eat it the way it’s suppose to be, with your hand! I will for sure comeback here.
I've eaten at quite a few Ethiopian restaurants in Oakland/Berkeley and hands down this is the best in the area. All I can say is Wow! We took 2 out-of-town guests for lunch. They are of Ethiopian descent and were very happy with the traditional, yet elevated flavors. We ordered a Vegetarian Combination and a Huda'de (mushroom and bean stew) with teff Injera. It's difficult to find restaurants that don't overwhelm their dishes with spices. Kudos to the chef at Meskie's, who found the perfect spice balance. The favorites were the carrots, which were caramelized and cooked to perfection, Ethiopian hummus, mushrooms and the gomen. Service and the ambiance were wonderful. The portions were large (4 people ate a lot) and we brought leftovers home to savor later. And the price is right! This will be our go-to Ethiopian restaurant. Wonderful!
A hidden, cozy, delicious, and inexpensive restaurant serving (surprise!) Ethiopian cuisine. They serve very generous portions, we ordered two Nenewees for three people, and we had way too much. In contrast to many Ethiopian restaurants, this one actually has a very good vegetarian selection. The servers were affable, and quite fast. The interior was very welcoming, almost felt like someone's home. We came in the evening, and although the restaurant was somewhat busy, we had no troubles getting a seat or being served fast.
This has been a favorite spot for years, even after moving out of town. The food is so, so consistently good. The flavors are rich and bold. I tend towards things that are not spicy, but the folks I've been here with who prefer spice say they get it right every time. While never super busy, it feels like a family spot with a pretty chill atmosphere where you can spend a good while lingering over something delicious. If you are gluten free, you can call ahead to ask for gluten free injera (give them a couple hours). The outside patio is a big bonus, especially as weather gets warmer. My favorite Ethiopian spot, hands down.
Meskies Ethiopia is my absolute favorite restaurant! The most nourishing, comforting, and refreshing vegan food, not to mention the Taj which I crave almost daily. Thank you for the kind service, equitable pricing, and love you can taste with each bite!
Great food. You can get 100% teff injira if you ask for it. They have tedge an authentic Ethiopian wine made from honey as well as a selection of Ethiopian beers.
My favorite Ethiopian place of all time! The food is amazing. I take all my friends here and everyone has really liked it so far! The vegetarian combination has so many delicious options. The service can be slow but they're really nice people.
Took my mom out for her first ethiopian food experience. She loved it Food was fantastic, service was friendly and attentive. Went on a Sunday and it wasn't at all busy. Everything was great!
This place is amazing, best ethiopian food I’ve ever had. Get vegan combo and beef tibs.
The lamb stew was so good. Everything was so tasty. I loved the family style serving with the sponge bread. Never had anything like it. I love restaurants like this. It's so authentic and the lady serving us was super nice and friendly. I wish I had places like this where I live. It's a gem.
Excellent Ethiopian food (as one would expect in East Bay), and very friendly service. Great vibe inside as well.
Beautiful restaurant. Cozy but spacious, with gorgeous art on the walls and nice music. My server was absolutely lovely. The food was amazing. I got the meat combo with red lentils (you add a veggie like a side for free). The we't and red lentils were all amazing, and the injera had a nice texture (free refills on injera).
This is literally my favorite food. The staff is fabulous, the food is transcendent, the atmosphere is chill, what else could anyone want? Seriously the food is to die for; I despise driving this direction and I happily make the trek when I know I’ll be coming here. It’s the best restaurant I’ve been to in so long. Just fantastic.
The back patio is lovely. The food is phenomenal. If you want to sit forever talking, this is the place.
If you like Ethiopian food, eat here. It's great. And they actually brought enough injera! If you've never had Ethiopian food, eat here. It's great. The spicy dishes are actually spicy, but they won't melt your face off. Can't wait to come back and try everything I didn't have this time.
I always call beforehand and they have it ready in 5 minutes. I get the vegetarian plate combo where you can choose what you want! In this pic is 2x lentils (red), 2x split peas(yellow), 1x collard greens. I love how it’s so easy to eat with your hands. The lentils are my favorite. also, I’m not vegan, but my vegan friends absolutely love this place
This place is awesome. On the outside, it's very unassuming, but once you get to the fantastic outdoor backyard area it's GREAT!! Spacious and welcoming, they even have heat lamps. The veg and meat combos are first rate, the flax seed drink is tasty. Their prices are more than reasonable, and the service friendly. Don't miss this one, I know there are any in the area, but this spot is a GEM. (and they're open on Monday!!)
Came here recently after not having Ethiopian food in forever and it’s just as good as I remember. The food here was so fresh and could be made gluten free.
I’ve been here 3 times and it’s one of my favorites in Berkeley. I love the variety of the meat & vegetarian platters, especially the carrot and meat sides. There are so many different flavors together on these platters and all of them are wonderful.
Great place! It was my first time having Ethiopian food, and Meskie’s didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed a big family plate. I liked the Chicken tibs and string beans. The Ethiopian wine was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive, and lit the fireplace for us. I’ll definitely come back.
the food was so good!!! we got 10 different options through getting 2 of the vegetarian combo things and everything was good. the patio outside is also lovely, though i wish there was music playing. also it was a great value! about $13 per person for more food than we could finish.
THIS IS A HIDDEN GEM IN BERKELEY! We were looking for something different and occasionally found this place. We ordered a Meat Combination and Vegetarian Combination for the four of us, and we were all full and satisfied. Highly recommend the Ethiopian Wine (Honey Wine)!
Food was amazing and flavourful and our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Will definitely go back for more deliciousness.
Update: Apr 2022 - came back after a long time post pandemic. They have remodeled it and looks refreshing. Looks like they don’t offer Groupon. They also added a new patio section. Food is yummy as always. Highly recommend this spot. Best Ethiopian in Berkeley. They have a groupon for half off. Use it. :)
I went on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter after walking the telegraph strip. It doesn't stand out from the street view but the inside is very nice. We were promptly seated and tended to. We sat outside in a patio area that looked recently remodeled and landscaped, super nice. I ordered the spicy meat combo and my daughter got the alicha. To drink I got telba juice (a healthy drink make with flax seeds) and my daughter got mango juice. The telba was almost intoxicatingly healthy and my daughters mango juice was legit and thick, not like the runny mango nectar in a can. Our food came in about 10-15min and was absolutely delicious. Now, the meat combo is spicy so keep that in mind. I love spicy food so this was perfect for me. The flavors were rich and our plates (surface wise) were full so the portions left us with food to take home and serve as another meal. Our waitress was super nice, polite and attentive. I'm sure to go back again.
This place is very lovely. They serve excellent Ethiopian food and beers. The location is very nice - between Berkeley/Oakland and street parking is a breeze. We ordered a veggie and meat combo and the server is very nice. The establishment is also very organized and neat.
EXCELLENT FLAVOR! Injera is perfect, and their green beans and carrots is a MUST! They also have a “build your own” vegetarian combo (you choose your 5) that’s also vegan friendly. I ate here 10 years ago as well, the quality is amazing a decade later! Hands down one of the best Ethopian places in the bay!

This is my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the world not only Bay Area! The food is tasty the portion is big the price is very affordable. Best restaurant ever to me!
The service was very nice. The atmosphere was unfortunately affected by a very loud client, hopefully will not be there the next time we go.The server even gave me some roasted milled flax and instructions on how to make her delicious smoothie at home, explaining the significance of the drink back home.
I have only come twice but I LOVE their food. Staff is rad and very nice. They have the best lentil soup I have ever had. I am a lentil-aholic. I have gotten sides and a full veggie plate with gluten free injera. Two different times. The plate is TONS of food. The sides weren’t much but delicious so stick with the full plate is my only suggestion! Can’t wait for next time. The ingredients and cooking is clearly excellent quality so I def recommend as I am very particular. (I usually only leave reviews of places I like/love and would recommend or if someone/place is particularly unfair)

Bought the Groupon for 4 people which included 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, 4 glasses of wine & 2 desserts. Service was a bit slow & they seemed understaffed for a Saturday night, but the food was excellent. Definitely would recommend for some very solid Ethiopian food in the area.
My experience did not start well. I made reservations for after work Thursday. I do not live in Berkeley. I drove there and paid for parking. Got to the door and noticed the "Open" sign was not lit. Tried the door, but they were closed. No sign, no message on the phone. I was very much displeased. I gave them another chance, mostly because I had bought a voucher from Groupon/Living Social. I will definitely be back! The service was friendly and the food was delicious! I'm not sure how they stay opened, because the restaurant was empty during the hour we spent there. I know that competition is fierce for Ethiopian restaurants in Berkeley, especially in this part of town. I hope they are not in danger of shutting down anytime soon, because I really want to go back. The voucher is a great deal if you get the opportunity to buy one. It is basically $20 off a complete meal for two, including a glass of wine for each of you.
Great place we had our wedding lunch there! Exellent good, delicious, food flavours, nice staff, owner will accommodate you well! Decent rates for weddings, staff is friendly always helpful! We had our celebration at the outdoor area, we were plesently surprise of the set up they did for us we didn't expect anything but they did beyond fresh real white flower bouquets on every table, clean tablecloths. We and our guests were very very well taken care of!! We recommend the restaurant with or with out celebration is worth a membership:) we are more like a citizens these days there so as our friends! Varieties of yummy food, they even have a buffet during the week from 11-3 pm 7.99$ all you can eat. Groupon is available as well. Street parking, some with meters across the street free 2 hr limit . Try the honey wine :) THANK YOU ETHIOPEA RESTAIRANT FOR ALL YOUR CARE WE APPRECIATE YOU!:)💙
Delicious food with generous portions. Not too spicy, salty, or greasy. The outdoor patio area is really lovely and pleasant on a nice day. It might've been the day we visited but we (party of 2) went in for lunch and came out 3 hours later because the service was very slow, and our food arrived 2 hour after we had ordered it. Still not sure what happened that day. We still enjoyed ourselves but I would be hesitant to revisit on a different day where I would not be able to wait that long for food to arrive.
The food was great and I had a great experience over all. I enjoyed the platters w/ the varieties of the meats, starches, and greens to eat with the injera bread of course. The Ethiopian honey wine (Tej) was the best wine I've ever had. Definitely a hidden gem i'll be back at. Good customer service. Thank you ladies (:
Great price; It's also really great to go during Ramadan because you get the whole restaurant to yourself. The food itself seems pretty hit or miss, the first time it was really good, but then the quality mysteriously dipped hugely. They don't take google pay though, but they'll let you leave and then call in later with a card.
It was a very nice experience and the place is sweet and our waitress really friendly. The food was good and you use your fingers. No silverware. I was overeating because you wrap all food into some delicious thin bread pancakes. But it adds up. :-) I will come again when I am in the area.
Loved the food, not the wine, coffee was great. Used a groupon, didn't like that they waited until we were tipping to tell me that I also needed to pay the tax on the groupon meal. Definitely should have been in the fine print or mentioned up front. We decided not to contest it because of time constraints. Besides that the servers were nice, it was beautiful inside but they need to redo the seats on the booths. I still suggest dining here. I really loved the food.
PROS: Walking in, it appears empty but if you cont. you'll see there's an outside nicely decorated with social media backdrop. I think I even spotted a ⛳️ putting 🏌🏽♀️ area. The food was flavorful. My husband and I had the Family Style Combination 🍽 our waitress brought the fur babies and us water... CONS: WAITRESS TOOK US TO OUR TABLE THEN...🤫🤨😒why my husband have to get up more than once!?! We had to ask for drinks/napkins/hot sauce/remind her to turn on heater... She never checked on us/ didn't offer dessert...& although she said she was going to take out pictures after we finished eating knowing damn well they don't have lights in the evening 🤦🏾♀️ THEY'RE WAS NO TV/MUSIC so during chewing and swallowing, we were forced to hear the 2 tables convos. Well find better...
Get the groupon for here! It is an extremely good deal. You get about $90 worth of stuff for $40. Two appetizers, four entrees, two desserts and four glasses of wine (no honey wine or substitutes for other drinks). This is perfect for four people. I usually get the meat and vegetable combination plates along with two additional items depending on what people are interested in trying. Definitely eat it all family style and have a little bit of everything. My personal favorite is the veggie dish that has carrots in it (cannot remember the specific name). I also recommend the sambusas for the appetizers. This isn't the best Ethiopian restaurant out there, but the food is good and with the groupon the price isn't bad. I would most likely rate this 3 stars without the Groupon price, also every single time I've checked this deal is on there so it doesn't seem to be a limited time thing. I've gone back several times and have always been able to use the Groupon without issue.
A homey place, the interior is nicely done with more than enough seatings on a Sunday afternoon. Parking wasn't too much of a problem, but be advised there is only street parking. The food is good and really plentiful. Like all Ethiopian cuisine, you tear pieces of the injera bread and pair it with the entrees in a large platter in the center. The meat and vegetables are all strongly flavored, the injera soaking it all up with each morsel. You can feed a small army with just a few entrees, especially if you get the injera refill. I would definitely recommend coming here to experience this cuisine, or if you are especially hungry!
Yes I have to admit this place is really good. We had the family style 2 appetizer, 4 main course dinner. Ordered two of them, one veggie the other meat. Look up there deal on Groupon it makes sense. The food was just great. We have eaten Ethiopian food all over the US the food was a 4 out of 5. The service is good when you are the only one in restaurant. There's only one server, for a restaurant this size there needs to be two even on slow days. If food was mediocre I would have had to give them 3 stars. Look them up on Groupon this makes the price well worth it.
They had the best vegan lunch in town, an all you can eat buffet at a bargain. Their carrots & string beans, mushrooms wot & spicy red lentils are my favorites. Giving 4 stars vs 5 cuz the waits for food dining in have been excruciating long on many occasions despite it being slow, we were the only table last time we came and still waited an hour & a half to get our food, and it was cold when it arrived. The staff is always friendly though, been coming here for well over a decade, their new patio is gorgeous, looking forward to the renovated interior.
I LOVE Ethiopian food and this place definitely delivered when it came to the quality and quantity of food! I got the vegetarian combo which was only about $13, and it ended up being more than I could eat. There was a lot of injera and a nice variety of dishes, each of which was great.

The food takes a long time to come out. You shouldn't be in a rush if planning to eat here. Everything my group got was tasty and the family style option is fun - they put everything your table orders on one big platter.
I really want them to succeed because food is great and service is very friendly. However, the decor and the environment is kind of depressing, and service can be slow. The waitress we had tonight was very friendly but didn't come by very often to check in on us despite the restaurant being mostly empty.
The food is always good here and it is fun to eat with one's hands, but the service is almost nonexistent. We were not greeted or seated for many minutes. We found our own table, got our own menus then waited to be able to order though there was only one other table occupied in the whole place. After eating and waiting a decent time I finally went to the back to get some boxes for leftovers. The bill came only after we asked. All three of us noticed our feet were cold even though we were wearing our coats.
I get excited to go to Ethiopian restaurants but often come out disappointed. It may be because my palette is used to Indian spices and breads. Injera is too sour for my taste and veggies are pretty bland This huge place was largely empty and bit disorganized. Food was average but people were super sweet
This place has been a staple in the community for many decades. It has changed in the past four or five years. However the last time I was here a young lady had her headphones on she was really irritated that we came in she had an attitude problem it looks like she might be related to the owners or something and just is spoiled. The food was great per usual but it took way too long which isn't normally an issue for me at this restaurant because I've been coming here for decades and it's wonderful. However we didn't come back when we wanted that dish so we ordered it online and boy was the food so salty. My friend said it tasted like it was soaked in salt. All of the food was too salty including the salad they must have had an accident in the kitchen or something. The only reason they won't get a real low reviews because this is just a recent problem but I want to point it out now and hopefully they'll fix the problem.
PROS: Walking in, it appears empty but if you cont. you'll see there's an outside nicely decorated with a cute social media backdrop. I think I even spotted a golf⛳️ putting 🏌🏽♀️ area. The food was flavorful and Soul satisfying 😋 My husband and I shared the Family Style Meat Combination 🍽 Our waitress brought the fur babies and us water... CONS: I don't understand there were only three tables in the entire restaurant so why didn't we get exceptional service?🤷🏾♀️ OUR WAITRESS TOOK US TO OUR TABLE THEN🚶🏽♀️walked back to the cashier desk like she was a front desk receptionist...🤫🤨😒...as in NO SERVICE like our waitress was MIA during the ENTIRE Dining experience 😮💨 This is my 52nd Dinner choice & 🙄boy...I wish I had chosen a different restaurant 😫 My Handsome husband had to get up like5️⃣times!?! WT🤬 He had to get up to ask for drinks/napkins/hot sauce/remind her to turn on heater... etcetera. She never checked on us *Not Once*/ didn't offer dessert...& although she said she would take our pictures after we finished eating, I know she knew damn well they don't have lights for the evening🤦🏾♀️📸pics. THERE WAS NO TV/MUSIC so during our chewing and swallowing, we were forced to hear the other 2 tables convos. Well find better...🙏🏾at least we ate good for under $75
We went for lunch, and the place was not crowded at all - maybe only 2 other customers. The back patio is a nice space. But we had to wait maybe 45 minutes for our food - even our drinks did not come for 30+ minutes, and the server did not tell us that the soups we ordered weren't even available until we asked where all the food was. While the food was tasty, and I suspect the restaurant was handling online orders, the lack of (proactive) communication about our order was really frustrating and significantly delayed our schedule for the day.

The food was great. The service was okay and it was a little cold inside the restaurant. I felt like we didnt get a lot of food for the price we paid. When i compared my dish to one of the pictures (number 11), we got far less. We paid full price $11.95 for the dish, we recieved one piece of chicken leg, for two people -_- And the tea was a bit expensive, $2.50 per cup.
Stopped in for a snack and ordered the samboussa app. Asked for two meat and one lentil. Received three meat. Was not impressed at all. Mostly flavor free except for the oil. There was maybe a tablespoon of filing. I was amazed that there wasn't even enough dipping sauce for these tiny items. Also the price online was 5.55 or so. It's over 7$in real life. The other items might be good but these did not impress at all. Truth be told my stomach isn't happy with what I ate. I would try other items if I ever came back. I won't though. First impression left a literal sour taste in my mouth.
Disappointing experience. It took over an hour to get our food (despite being one of three tables). The water tasted like cigarette smoke and I found an egg shell - or a white paint chip? - in my food. There are better options in the East Bay.
I keep giving this place a try because I want to love it so bad. 3 strikes and you’re out. The people are kind by the food is horrible. It use to be so good. Today my injera was hard and smelled spoiled, my chicken was tough. All this spice and bad food.. smh. Don’t waste your time or hard earned money. Just go somewhere else or throw your money in the street.
It’s been 30 years since I’ve had Ethiopians food and was very excited to get a vegetarian sample plate and meat samplers. The injera bread was great and they had a gluten free version that was even better! But the on the veggie plate, the food lacked robust flavor and the cabbage and potatoes undercooked. The meat plate had decent flavor but the meats were so dry, it was not edible and the chicken tasted as if it had turned . So bummed. Nothing like I remembered
I actually used to like this place because their food was good, so it hurts me to give them 2 stars. But unfortunately their customer service is very inconsistent and poor. We came to dine-in at 8:20pm one night, then the host said their last dine-in order is at 8:15pm. Okay... I come the next night at 7:45pm, and they said they still cannot do dine-in anymore and only takeout because it is still somehow past the deadline since they close at 9:00pm. The host was not even apologetic or sorry. At this point it is just rude. Please treat your customers with more respect.
The back patio was very pleasant but the food was subpar and the service was terrible. The server dropped off our food and literally never came back once even though there was only one other table in the entire restaurant. Not even to ask us if we needed anything or if the food was okay. Finally we just grabbed our own leftovers and walked back inside to get a bag for our food and the bill and she was on FaceTime with someone and said “hold on I’ll brb,” to whomever she was talking to and cashed us out. The food looks nothing like the plates they advertise. We definitely would not recommend.

The only good part : food is quite cheap and served in a generous quantity. The injera served was cold. We had a vegetarian combo and shrimp curry. They didn't care to bring the vegetarian & non-vegetarian items in different plates or ask about it. Please note the beans served have strings on, and the shrimp has its peel on. The service is very slow, go here if you have 1.5+ hours on hand. Ohh on top of that the menu does not properly explain what you would be charged for, be prepared for a surprise when the check arrives.
Horrible service. Walked in, looked at staff, no one greeted us or instructed us. Sat down. No one came to give us water or take our order for 20-30 minutes. We walked up twice to ask and they just told us “we’ll get to you”. Watched other tables get sat down, have their heaters turned on, get their orders taken. Finally intercepted a waitress after she took another tables order to tell her we were ready. The service was terrible, and even when we asked staff if we could be helped they were rude. Not worth your time.
I've never had injera like this even in Ethiopia. It was dry and tasted weird. It was like someone made it from a recipe as did the food. The red lentils were too spicey to eat and tasted like cardamom. The fava beans were not creamy and too sour. The greens undercooked. And when I first opened the container it just smelled weird. This place used to be amazing
We ordered the takeout on June 18 on Saturday and picked up/paid $29.70 with VISA. Guess what? The charge was posted as $39.70. They charged $10 additionally without consent. We have been dining/ ordering takeouts numerous times in the past , but it never happened before. We are so disappointed and violated. At that time the restaurant was festive and bright with a beautiful bridal shower going on. However, this unthinkable happened. CUSTOMERS, BE AWARE AND CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS/ CREDIT CARD CHARGES!! Such a cozy restaurant with good food , but this time my experience was so upsetting!
Do not order the Kitfo from this place. I ordered both raw and well-done, but I couldn’t even tell which was which they both well done. On top of that, the butter tasted off, like it had something else mixed into it. Overall, it was so horrible I had to throw both takeout orders away.
The food tasted old...not happy at all 😊
I really didn't like the place. Overall the atmosphere is great and the guys working there are nice, but the food is bad. I ordered beef, about half of the pieces were tough, it was impossible to chew them. Most likely cheap meat was used for cooking. In addition, the meat was very oversalted. For the first time, I probably didn't finish the meat. The mushrooms were tasty, at least they weren't so oversalted and they could be eaten. I don't recommend this place for food
The food was decent but the server gave me a glass of water which had lipstick marks on it at the rim and had clearly been used by someone. The restaurant only had 2 tables occupied, and with less work, the server was sitting at her desk with earphones on, so clearly this wasn’t a mistake because she had too much to handle, but it was pure carelessness. I had to walk to the back of the restaurant and ask for a new glass because the server didn’t come even once to check on us after we had been served.
